The Chrysler 200 has always been a true contender in the ultra-competitive midsize car category, offering value through a high level of standard equipment. The 200 is reborn in 2015, all new from the ground up and offering a compelling blend of simple elegance, state-of-the-art technology and enhanced driving performance. A segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive complete the transformation. The 200 sedan is offered in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations, with four trim levels: front-wheel drive LX, Limited, C and S trims, as well as all-wheel drive C and S trims only. Two engines supply power: a 184-hp 2.4-liter MulitAir four-cylinder and a 295-hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6; both are mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and available shift paddles. Distantly derived from an excellent Alfa Romeo sedan chassis, this all-new second-generation Chrysler 200 is going toe-to-toe with the best-selling mid-size sedans. Among them: Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Ford Fusion, and Chevrolet Malibu. It better be pretty good, you say. And at a quick glance, the 2015 Chrysler 200 certainly looks the part. Its styling is crisply contemporary, as charismatic and eye-catching as anything in the category. From its forward-thrusting nose to the sleek faux-coupe roofline and cleanly understated tail, it has a chic world-car presence that will easily earn its place in the front row at valet parking. The interior, too, is attractively done. Especially in the upper trim levels, the Chrysler 200 has a luxurious look and feel that easily matches its tried-and-true competitors. Available Nappa leather upholstery complements instruments with pleasing refinement, including swank touches such as a Jaguar-like selector knob for engaging the transmission. The seating is excellent, though not overly roomy in back, and road noise is extremely low. But the key to any car is its road behavior. Here the 2015 Chrysler 200 has real strength. Its well-weighted steering feel and chassis responses are controlled and agile. Not surprisingly, given Chrysler's Fiat ownership, the Chrysler 200 has alert European road feel. Excellent. Imported from Detroit it may be, but we find it hard not to believe these good looks weren't aided by a soft, elegant Italian breeze blowing in from Chrysler's new corporate owner, Fiat. From its distinctive overall shape right down to its quasi-retro Chrysler wing badge brand identifier, the Chrysler 200 embraces an aggressively modern design language new to Chrysler. Its snarky signature LED daytime running lights and hungry grille present an attention-getting face, while its muscular flanks, sleek coupe profile, and full-sized, integrated rear spoiler fairly shout studio-designed. The outward-arching rear spoiler lends the car's tail a wide, well-planted presence, implying confident athleticism. And contributing to the clean appearance, the Chrysler 200 features an extremely shallow bumper offset, effectively integrating the bumpers into the overall shape, though at the price, perhaps, of some cosmetic protection in daily driving. A shiny chrome strip surrounds the side windows, accenting the aero shape's rear-swept dynamism, while its steeply raked side mirrors complete the impression of forward thrust. As all world carmakers begin to eye the giant emerging markets in the Far East, the international design language of the world-car becomes increasingly important to product planning. The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a proudly American car. But this is by no means a traditionally American car but an American-made car with its eye on the world market. Its chassis is closely related to the current Alfa Romeo sedan and the Dodge Dart, but its attractive looks and cutting-edge styling has world-car buyers in its sights. In its styling and presence, it is at least as eye-catching as any of its more entrenched mid-sized competitors. Whether its appearance can make up for its initial lack of market clout remains to be seen, but the designers have done their part. Source: New Car Test Drive Driving Impression The Chrysler 200 is a great drive. Its steering is firm and accurate, with just the right amount of effort and feedback. The chassis is well controlled, delivering communicative road feel while dampening unruly surfaces. Driven enthusiastically, it has good roll control, remaining pleasingly flat and in command, and all the while, wind and road noise are banished. Chrysler 200's I4 and V6 engines are what we would call adequate, right in the middle of the pack in many respects. They deliver competitive acceleration. Asked why Chrysler had not followed the current trend towards small-displacement/turbocharged engines, company representatives confided that at the time the new 200 was being designed, these two engines were the only choices available. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine produces 184 horsepower at 6250 rpm and 173 pound-feet of torque at 4600 rpm, according to preliminary figures from Chrysler. The engine uses single overhead cam and redline is at 6500 rpm. The 2.4-liter I4 achieves an EPA rating of 23/36 mpg City/Highway. Unleaded Regular gasoline (87 octane) is recommended. The 3.6-liter V6 produces 295 horsepower at 6350 rpm and 262 pound-feet of torque at 4250 rpm. Using double overhead cams (four camshafts) the V6 redlines at 6400 rpm. Fuel economy is an EPA estimated 19/32 mpg City/Highway, and Chrysler recommends Unleaded Regular gasoline. The V6 is offered with an advanced all-wheel drive package. Its rear axle is able to completely disconnect from the drive unit when not needed, reducing parasitic drag and gaining back some fuel economy. The ambitious 9-speed automatic transmission, standard on all Chrysler 200s, is available with paddle shifters. However, we found the paddle shifter delivered slow response times, and sometimes no response at all, even if your downshift was carefully within the correct speed range of the next gear down. It's a characteristic the driver would adjust to, but it wasn't the best of the paddle-shifter we've driven. A long list of available electronic driving aids include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot and lane-departure warning, multiple electronic brake assists, park assist and rearview camera Overall, we found the Chrysler 200 offers a European driving experience. It is more disciplined than the purely Italian model, as well-defined as the determined German model. It's a lively, precise car that engages the driver's attention, and that, in turn, heightens everyone's safety. Source: New Car Test Drive Interior Chrysler 200's interior makes a superb first impression in the up-level trim versions. Furnished with Nappa leather seating and a two and half foot-wide real wood applique on the instrument cluster, set off with bronzed chrome trim, this is a thoroughly impressive cabin. If you wonder how a Chrysler, in the grandiose old sense, could be competing with Kias and Fords and other purportedly lesser devices (isn't that Dodge's job?), you have reason to be confused. Climbing in behind the leather-wrapped wheel of a well-equipped, elegant Chrysler 200C, yet one that is priced in the low 30Ks, will only add to the confusion. Chrysler is offering high value per dollar to attract new buyers, and at the higher end, the 200 delivers a degree of finesse that deserves careful consideration. The 200's structure has, Chrysler reports, 6-percent greater torsional stiffness than the previous model and uses 60-percent more high-strength steel in the frame. This high-strength steel is of small section sizes, however, avoiding increased weight while still delivering improved strength. In our drives, the structure felt tight and was very quiet, thanks in part to special acoustic sound-deadening carpet. The rear suspension is attached with a special sub-frame, further isolating noise and vibration from the cabin. Instrumentation was complete and handsome. The tachometer read to 7000 rpm but had no redline; the 2.4-liter I4 engine shifted automatically, however, at a peak of about 6200 rpm, the de facto redline. The information panel delivered all the usual data: trip mileage, fuel mileage, fuel economy, driver assistant (diagramming the road ahead), and vehicle information (coolant and transmission temperature, tire pressures, battery voltage, oil life, oil temperature), digital speedometer setting, gear indicator, compass, messages, and audio indicator. Water temperature and fuel level were indicated by bar graphs. Keyless push-button start and passive entry are standard. Steering wheel controls accessed the information panel, phone, and voice activation on the left side; on the right side were adaptive cruise control, including three different interval adjustments. A remote trunk release is mounted on the dash. Two seating pre-set adjustments are provided, as well as an electronic parking brake, standard. Interior space in the front is decent for any but really large drivers. However, with the front seats adjusted for even average drivers, rear-seat legroom is limited. And the sleek faux-coupe roofline has the inevitable penalty of limited rear headroom for tall adults. The optional perforated and ventilated Nappa leather upholstery was beautiful. The seats were a good fit, with fine lateral support when driving aggressively. In the rear, a center elbow rest folds down and provides two convenient cupholders. However, the rather low rear side windows give backseat passengers a slightly claustrophobic view. Materials throughout the cabin were of excellent quality. The switchgear had fine tactile sensation, most of it furnished with rubber knobs and surfaces. In the upper trim levels, the 200 is altogether deluxe. Lower trim levels are less so yet certainly respectable. The audio systems and connectivity were of good quality and straightforward, though pressing bar graphs to adjust audio tone is fussy in a moving car. Cargo space was average, access was narrow by normal standards, and lift-over height was on the high side. This car is Barrett-Jackson quality. This auction is for a damned nice 1966 Oldsmobile 442 with the RARE Club Coupe package and the highly desired 442 options. This is the most highly prized vintage car models out there. The car is documented by GM as one of only 5 ever made. They said it could be a one of one but they were more comfortable saying one of 5. It is the only known model that still exists. Please note that this is a club coupe. not a two door hardtop. There is a pot behind both door, unlike a hardtop.This beautiful car only has 10,728 miles showing! It has been completely restored and is a pretine example of the model. It won 1st place in numerous shows across the country and is a beauty in person. The known details of the restoration and modifications are listed below. The exterior of this classic is actually much better than new. It is a brilliant bright white and the paint and body are as close to perfect as you will find. I hesitate to say flawless only because someone will find some tiny nick that I missed so we'll just say nearly flawless. There is absolutely no damage anywhere on the entire car. The paint is great with a high gloss and no problems at all. NO dents, nicks, paint issues, dull spots, runs, overspray or other issues. This was a high-end professional restoration done with NO expense spared, There is no evidence of ever having previous damage. It is the 442 model and the car has all the correct emblems attached. It is also the added club coupe,as seen in the photos. All of the emblems are in perfect shape. The chrome has all been professionally replated or replaced with top quality NOS style items. The car also has new rubber seals throughout. The door, hood and trunk jambs are in perfect shape and I have extra photos of them, if you need them. They open and close so easily it's spooky! This car is an original 442 and not some made-from-extra-parts car. It has a numbers matching 400 with the rare automatic trans with column shifter. The floors are great and the trunk bottom is perfect. I also have photos of those. I can only put 24 pics on eBay so if you want more, I will have to send them to you. The car has new perfect condition Olds 551 wheels with new P225/75R14 black letter tires, both of which give it a great look. THESE WHEE;S WERE $80.00 each. I have found absolutely no issues with the car at all. I drove it extensively to see how it was before listing it. It was great! Started easily, ran strong and handled wonderfully. I want to emphasis that this car is NOT some hack job like you sometimes find on here. This is about as nice a restoration that you will find unless you spend $100,00.00 on the car and having it done. The rain gutters are totally clean and well done, Body seams are perfect, body gaps are likely better than they were from the factory, paint is better than factory as is the interior. Again, I have many photos that I can send and will take others if you need them. I have included a close-up of the firewall tag so those of you who are interested can research the car on your own. I do know that the firewall tag is easy to read and you should have no trouble with it. There is absolutely no body filler on the car and it has never had a spot of rust! On to the interior. This one has the totally cool FACTORY red and darker red vinyl interior that is absolutely perfect! I have photographed more than 100 classic GM cars and trucks over the last few years and this is the only one that has had this vintage, original interior. Most people just go with the plain black vinyl but these folks did it right! It is the exact interior the car was made with and not redone!.The outer edges of the seats are dark red and the inner sections are the darker red stripes. The door panels match the seats and are perfect, however they have been redone. The dash is great with no wear, cracks or fade. It has perfect shape and has not bent like so many of them do in the center. This car has the extremely rare and original column automatic shifter, as seen in the photos. The dark red carpet is original style and is in great shape. Some of the photos may show the carpet to appear faded but that is not the case. It is just the camera flash glaring. The carpet is in new condition and perfectly colored. The car also has correct vintage type floor mats. Correct manual windows and locks and manual remote adjust on the driver's outside mirror. It also has a power antenna. They all work, as well. The car has a factory AM unit in the dash. It is a high-end car that really stands out. The interior is in GREAT condition. The headliner is also in new condition and the car has the correct lap seatbelts. The interior on this car is one of the things that makes it special. It is a beautiful design with comfortable seats and a great appearance. I know I am going to get a hundred questions on whether the numbers match on this car. The answer is absolutely yes!. It has been documented through Oldsmobile to be numbers matching with the original engine. And now for the mechanics. Ths car has enough power scare your friends! It is the original 400 small block and it is connected to a 400 turbo 3 speed automatic transmission. Both have been rebuilt and both operate well. The engine and engine compartment are restored to the same quality as the rest of the car. The entire engine is balanced and blueprinted and those papers come with the car. It has a Lumanti carb. There is an electronic cooling system for extra protection, as seen in the photos. It has headers that lead to a full lenght stainless steel dual exhaust with chrome tips. There is a great sounding rumble to it. It is not too loud but gets the proper attention. Again, I have numerous other photos. The car has factory power steering, power brakes and an aluminum mid-rise intake. The engine runs cool, has great oil pressure and no internal noise. The trans shifts well and grabs as it should. The car also has an aftermarket tach and a set of extra gauges under the dash, just t be sure! All could easily be removed.. The rearend is a 10 bolt but to be honest, I do not know if it is a posi or limited slip. I forgot to check when I was with the car. Again, this car only has 10,728 miles showing. These are the originals miles! The engine runs like it is brand new and of course. there are no leaks or problemfos of any kind. This 1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria made up less than 2% of Fairlane production, so you'll likely never find one again that looks so correct, or so nice. Finished in its factory-correct Fiesta Red and Colonial White, the restored paintwork is definitely a product of the flashy 1950s. Fords were instantly recognizable with their sweeping chrome trim dividing the two-tone combinations, extending from the headlight all the way back to the tail. It's easy to distinguish the Crown Victorias as the highest level of the already top-of-the-line Ford Fairlanes, because only these have the encompassing brightwork that visually separates the front and rear passenger compartments. The total effect of all this chrome, and the optional fender skirts, give this coupe the lower, wider, and longer feel that everyone in Detroit strove for back then. Today it takes an exceptionally straight Ford like this one to wear all of the intricate brightwork correctly. The matching two-tone interior appears just like it did the day it left the Louisville, Kentucky factory in 1956. The seats were re-covered during restoration so that white vinyl is pure and pristine. In the highest echelon of Ford coupes, even the rear seats got the same style treatment, and the roomy bench even has an armrest for individual luxury. The stylish door panels have a similar swoopy design to emulate the exterior trim, and it wraps into the dashboard in a continuous sweep. This was the year of Ford's Lifeguard safety package, which added some interesting items like the seatbelts, padded dashboard, and the cool recessed gauge package. Just from sitting from behind the wheel, everything feels like a time machine back to the '50s, right down to the heater/defrost controls. The only exception is an AM/FM radio with modern digital tuner that fits into the original knob and chrome trim. There are also auxiliary gauges for oil, water, and power so you know exactly what's going on in the engine bay at all times. The Thunderbird badging on the front fender is no accident. Pop the hood and you'll find a 292 cubic-inch Ford Y-block V8 motor. That was an optional powerplant borrowed from Ford's ultimate personal cruiser, the Thunderbird. It's a not only one of the largest motors Ford offered back then, but it also came standard with a Holley four-barrel carburetor to give this coupe the power to be an anywhere kind of cruiser. This Crown Vic has been so authentic so far, that you absolutely should expect the same level from the restoration in the engine bay. The motor wears its correct oil bath air cleaner, Thunderbird-style valve covers, and a bright red engine block. This is mated to the optional Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, and the dual exhaust makes a nice sound as it stylishly exits through two slots in the rear bumper. It's these kind of luxury touches that keep the Fairlane Crown Victoria one of the coolest ways aimlessly wander the boulevard on a Saturday night. The Chrysler 200 has always been a true contender in the ultra-competitive midsize car category, offering value through a high level of standard equipment. The 200 is reborn in 2015, all new from the ground up and offering a compelling blend of simple elegance, state-of-the-art technology and enhanced driving performance. A segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive complete the transformation. The 200 sedan is offered in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations, with four trim levels: front-wheel drive LX, Limited, C and S trims, as well as all-wheel drive C and S trims only. Two engines supply power: a 184-hp 2.4-liter MulitAir four-cylinder and a 295-hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6; both are mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and available shift paddles. And at a quick glance, the 2015 Chrysler 200 certainly looks the part. Its styling is crisply contemporary, as charismatic and eye-catching as anything in the category. From its forward-thrusting nose to the sleek faux-coupe roofline and cleanly understated tail, it has a chic world-car presence that will easily earn its place in the front row at valet parking. The interior, too, is attractively done. Especially in the upper trim levels, the Chrysler 200 has a luxurious look and feel that easily matches its tried-and-true competitors. Available Nappa leather upholstery complements instruments with pleasing refinement, including swank touches such as a Jaguar-like selector knob for engaging the transmission. The seating is excellent, though not overly roomy in back, and road noise is extremely low. But the key to any car is its road behavior. Here the 2015 Chrysler 200 has real strength. Imported from Detroit it may be, but we find it hard not to believe these good looks weren't aided by a soft, elegant Italian breeze blowing in from Chrysler's new corporate owner, Fiat. From its distinctive overall shape right down to its quasi-retro Chrysler wing badge brand identifier, the Chrysler 200 embraces an aggressively modern design language new to Chrysler. Its snarky signature LED daytime running lights and hungry grille present an attention-getting face, while its muscular flanks, sleek coupe profile, and full-sized, integrated rear spoiler fairly shout studio-designed. The outward-arching rear spoiler lends the car's tail a wide, well-planted presence, implying confident athleticism. And contributing to the clean appearance, the Chrysler 200 features an extremely shallow bumper offset, effectively integrating the bumpers into the overall shape, though at the price, perhaps, of some cosmetic protection in daily driving. A shiny chrome strip surrounds the side windows, accenting the aero shape's rear-swept dynamism, while its steeply raked side mirrors complete the impression of forward thrust. As all world carmakers begin to eye the giant emerging markets in the Far East, the international design language of the world-car becomes increasingly important to product planning. The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a proudly American car. But this is by no means a traditionally American car but an American-made car with its eye on the world market. Its chassis is closely related to the current Alfa Romeo sedan and the Dodge Dart, but its attractive looks and cutting-edge styling has world-car buyers in its sights. In its styling and presence, it is at least as eye-catching as any of its more entrenched mid-sized competitors. Whether its appearance can make up for its initial lack of market clout remains to be seen, but the designers have done their part. Source: New Car Test Drive Driving Impression The Chrysler 200 is a great drive. Its steering is firm and accurate, with just the right amount of effort and feedback. The chassis is well controlled, delivering communicative road feel while dampening unruly surfaces. Driven enthusiastically, it has good roll control, remaining pleasingly flat and in command, and all the while, wind and road noise are banished. Chrysler 200's I4 and V6 engines are what we would call adequate, right in the middle of the pack in many respects. They deliver competitive acceleration. Asked why Chrysler had not followed the current trend towards small-displacement/turbocharged engines, company representatives confided that at the time the new 200 was being designed, these two engines were the only choices available. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine produces 184 horsepower at 6250 rpm and 173 pound-feet of torque at 4600 rpm, according to preliminary figures from Chrysler. The engine uses single overhead cam and redline is at 6500 rpm. The 2.4-liter I4 achieves an EPA rating of 23/36 mpg City/Highway. Unleaded Regular gasoline (87 octane) is recommended. The 3.6-liter V6 produces 295 horsepower at 6350 rpm and 262 pound-feet of torque at 4250 rpm. Using double overhead cams (four camshafts) the V6 redlines at 6400 rpm. Fuel economy is an EPA estimated 19/32 mpg City/Highway, and Chrysler recommends Unleaded Regular gasoline. The V6 is offered with an advanced all-wheel drive package. Its rear axle is able to completely disconnect from the drive unit when not needed, reducing parasitic drag and gaining back some fuel economy. The ambitious 9-speed automatic transmission, standard on all Chrysler 200s, is available with paddle shifters. However, we found the paddle shifter delivered slow response times, and sometimes no response at all, even if your downshift was carefully within the correct speed range of the next gear down. It's a characteristic the driver would adjust to, but it wasn't the best of the paddle-shifter we've driven. A long list of available electronic driving aids include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot and lane-departure warning, multiple electronic brake assists, park assist and rearview camera Overall, we found the Chrysler 200 offers a European driving experience. It is more disciplined than the purely Italian model, as well-defined as the determined German model. It's a lively, precise car that engages the driver's attention, and that, in turn, heightens everyone's safety. Source: New Car Test Drive Interior Chrysler 200's interior makes a superb first impression in the up-level trim versions. Furnished with Nappa leather seating and a two and half foot-wide real wood applique on the instrument cluster, set off with bronzed chrome trim, this is a thoroughly impressive cabin. If you wonder how a Chrysler, in the grandiose old sense, could be competing with Kias and Fords and other purportedly lesser devices (isn't that Dodge's job?), you have reason to be confused. Climbing in behind the leather-wrapped wheel of a well-equipped, elegant Chrysler 200C, yet one that is priced in the low 30Ks, will only add to the confusion. Chrysler is offering high value per dollar to attract new buyers, and at the higher end, the 200 delivers a degree of finesse that deserves careful consideration. The 200's structure has, Chrysler reports, 6-percent greater torsional stiffness than the previous model and uses 60-percent more high-strength steel in the frame. This high-strength steel is of small section sizes, however, avoiding increased weight while still delivering improved strength. In our drives, the structure felt tight and was very quiet, thanks in part to special acoustic sound-deadening carpet. The rear suspension is attached with a special sub-frame, further isolating noise and vibration from the cabin. Instrumentation was complete and handsome. The tachometer read to 7000 rpm but had no redline; the 2.4-liter I4 engine shifted automatically, however, at a peak of about 6200 rpm, the de facto redline. The information panel delivered all the usual data: trip mileage, fuel mileage, fuel economy, driver assistant (diagramming the road ahead), and vehicle information (coolant and transmission temperature, tire pressures, battery voltage, oil life, oil temperature), digital speedometer setting, gear indicator, compass, messages, and audio indicator. Water temperature and fuel level were indicated by bar graphs. Keyless push-button start and passive entry are standard. Steering wheel controls accessed the information panel, phone, and voice activation on the left side; on the right side were adaptive cruise control, including three different interval adjustments. A remote trunk release is mounted on the dash. Two seating pre-set adjustments are provided, as well as an electronic parking brake, standard. Interior space in the front is decent for any but really large drivers. However, with the front seats adjusted for even average drivers, rear-seat legroom is limited. And the sleek faux-coupe roofline has the inevitable penalty of limited rear headroom for tall adults. The optional perforated and ventilated Nappa leather upholstery was beautiful. The seats were a good fit, with fine lateral support when driving aggressively. In the rear, a center elbow rest folds down and provides two convenient cupholders. However, the rather low rear side windows give backseat passengers a slightly claustrophobic view. Materials throughout the cabin were of excellent quality. The switchgear had fine tactile sensation, most of it furnished with rubber knobs and surfaces. In the upper trim levels, the 200 is altogether deluxe. Lower trim levels are less so yet certainly respectable. The audio systems and connectivity were of good quality and straightforward, though pressing bar graphs to adjust audio tone is fussy in a moving car. Cargo space was average, access was narrow by normal standards, and lift-over height was on the high side.
