Our company was founded in 1954 by George E. Waikem, Sr. The Waikem Family has distinguished itself as having one of the finest track records in quality auto sales in America. It has taken the Waikem Family over 40 years to build the public image which we are so proud of today. Our Company was founded on the principle of complete customer satisfaction in all their transportation needs, and we continue our commitment to those needs. Mr. George E. Waikem, Sr. distinguished himself as a pilot during World War II and upon his discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1945, embarked upon his automotive career. He started with a used-car lot and in 1954 opened National Car Leasing, Inc., which blossomed into what is today, a very large corporation. In those days, however, the leased cars supplied the used car lot and Mr. Waikem was doing quite well. He did however, want a new car franchise to supply' his car leasing venture. The Ford Motor Co. granted him franchise rights in 1957, and that was the beginning of George Waikem Ford, Inc. Never satisfied, Mr. Waikem, with the help of his family and dedicated employees, began a long list of franchises that included Volvo Village in 1974, Honda in 1975, and Chrysler, Plymouth in 1976 which then became Waikem Motors, Inc. Waikem Nissan, Inc. became a reality in 1989 with Waikem Mitsubishi added in 1990. It did not take long for the community to realize that the ethical business practices with which The Waikem dealerships operated, made them the place to go for automobile and heavy truck sales and service. As the Company grew, so did the involvement in the community. The Waikem Family and The Waikem Auto Family has been recognized by numerous organizations throughout Ohio for all of their charitable and civic contributions. As our community continues to grow we want to be sure that our business grows to meet the needs of all loyal customers. The Waikem Family also feels very strongly about the dedicated employees that make our business so successful. We will continue to work hand- in-hand in building a work environment that offers job security and opportunities for all. Each person contributes to the success of Waikem Auto Family Dealership's, but it is understood that it is a true team effort that counts. And while the brand was originally envisioned as a stepping stone to the corporation's namesake luxury marque, it also spawned performance and economy models to fend off internal competition from Dodge and Plymouth. That means the '50s power monsters MoPar enthusiasts know and love often have more exclusive counterparts like this stylish Fireflite Sportsman. Wrapping a hot 341 cubic inch Hemi V8 and stalwart pushbutton Torqueflite in a tailored interior and sweeping sheetmetal, this all-American cruiser HAS to be some of the coolest metal on the planet! And with only 7,216 companion cars, it's some of the rarest Detroit iron ever produced. For fans of unique cars, it doesn't get much better than an Exner era Chrysler. And if you're a discerning collector who's itching for a classic, big-fin MoPar that'll be the star of every cruise night in town, this '57 DeSoto is your ticket! BODYWORK/TRIM Based on legendary designer Virgil Exner's 'Forward Look' body, DeSoto's well-known Fireflite series is some of the finest metal to ever leave an American design studio. The spectacular Fiesta Red and Frost White example you see here was assembled at Chrysler's Detroit, Michigan manufacturing facility and exceptionally maintained by one fastidious owner for close to 57 years. Its mostly original sheetmetal reflects a smooth, 2-stage finish that was applied in the summer of 2014. Yards of original brightwork and stainless feature no modern supplements, with the exception of fresh chrome on the car's taillight housings and rear bumper. And, as far as we can tell, this coupe has never been fully disassembled, with the aforementioned owner instead opting to address issues of aging as they arose. ENGINE All that classy metal moves thanks to a Hemispherical Fire Dome V8, which is branded with a correct S26-27094 assembly stamp. Clocking in at 341 cubic inches, the square-bore mill turns hearty 9.25 to 1 compression into 295 horsepower and 390 lb./ft. of stout torque. And naturally, given the car's ownership history, the engine appears to wear a roster of correct and original pieces, from its glossy air cleaner and rebuilt Carter carburetor all the way to its beefy radiator and tagged red cap battery. Fire is provided by a traditional points distributor, which sequences sparks between an old school generator and 7mm Copper Conductor Cables. Combustion comes courtesy of a correct camshaft, which breathes through a correct intake and original exhaust manifolds. Aesthetically, the engine's clean Aluminum paint contrasts well against a fresh Fiesta firewall and glossy black fenders. And little details like gold valve covers, vivid "DESOTO FIREFLITE EIGHT" call-outs, stainless fluid lines and a Sparton horn round out this coupe's natural eyeball appeal. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The 1957 DeSoto was "the car that makes yesterday seem years ago". Accordingly, the division's marketing gurus drowned the print world in ads touting the brand's new Torsion-Aire Suspension. And surprisingly, that statement still holds true today, as this big boulevard king sits on a freshly detailed chassis that veils pothole-shattering solidity in a silky smooth ride. Behind the Fire Dome V8, an original A488 Torqueflite 3-speed sends power to a correct rear end. That tough driveline spins in a factory-spec undercarriage that's complete with Chrysler's robust torsion bars and stiff outrider springs. At the corners of that chassis, heavy duty drum brakes ensure solid, fade-free stops. At the center of the car's rust-free floors, a traditional true-dual exhaust system employs deep, glasspack-style mufflers. And all this road-worthy hardware rides on painted and capped wheels, which spin pliable 8.50-14 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls. INTERIOR Take a look inside this coupe and you'll find a mostly-original Gray and White interior that sports enough room to haul the whole family in comfort! Wide bench seats prop piped and stitched vinyl under fresh centerpieces. In front of those seats, a Frost White dash hangs a crack-free pad over a correct AM radio and stylish, pushbutton transmission controls. That dash and seat combo is framed by rich carpet, textured door panels, chrome pillar covers and a white headliner that's stretched across polished roof bows. In front of the driver, a 2-tone steering wheel spins a chrome horn ring around an intricate DeSoto logo. And behind the passengers, a large trunk props an original jack and spare tire on an original mat. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONA variety of original marketing materials. An original Owner's ManualAn original Service CertificateTwo original key tagsA March, 2014 photo of the car with its only owner This classy DeSoto is a super cool cruiser that's easy to imagine as the focal point of a cross-country road trip. With its burly V8, tailored interior and dramatic styling, it represents the pinnacle of American design and manufacturing dominance. If you're looking for a top-notch classic that'll draw a crowd wherever it goes, your search is officially over! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. Call Tom 7 Days a Week at 248-974-9513! [email protected] History When Ford introduced the Model A in late 1927, there were several competitors also offering four cylinder cars, among them Chevrolet, Dodge, Durant, or Willys. That changed within a few years, leaving soon the new Plymouth with its four that was derived from a Maxwell design the sole major make in the Ford's price class with a four. Although sharing a common platform, Model Bs and Model 18s came not only in Standard and Deluxe trim, they were available in a large variety of body styles. Some of them, like the commercial cars described below, were only availabe as Standards, and a few other came only in Deluxe trim. There were two-door roadster, two-door cabriolet, four-door phaeton, two-door and four-door sedans, four-door 'woodie" station wagon, two-door Victoria, two-door convertible sedan, panel and sedan deliveries, five-window coupe, a sport coupe, the three-window Deluxe Coup, and pickup. Prices ranged from US$495 for the roadster, $490 for the coups, and $650 for the convertible sedan. Production totals numbered from 12,597 for the roadster to 124,101 for the two-door sedan. Ford sold 298,647 V8-powered 18s in 1932, and except for the fact Ford could not keep up with demand, the essentially identical four-cylinder B would have been a sales disaster: dealers switched customers to them from the V8, and even then sold only 133,539, in part because the V8 cost just US$10 more. It was initially based on the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. Introduced early on April 17, 1964, dubbed as a "1964" model by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The model is Ford's third oldest nameplate in production and has undergone several transformations to its current fifth generation. The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobiles-sports car-like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks[-and gave rise to competitors such as GM's Chevrolet Camaro, AMC's Javelin, and Chrysler's revamped Plymouth Barracudas and Dodge Challengers. The original Dodge Super Bee was based on the design of the Dodge Coronet, designed as a two-door coupe, and was produced from 1968 until 1970. It was the company's low-priced powerful muscle car, derived from the design of the Plymouth Road Runner. The origin of the name, "Super Bee", has its basis in the "B" Body designation pertinent to Chrysler's mid-sized cars. For the 1970 model, the Super Bee received a cosmetic redesign and a new front-end was designed that consisted of a twin-looped front bumper that Dodge Public Relations referred to as "bumble bee wings". In addition to the new looks, engine choices and "ramcharger" hood carried over from 1969, the 1970 cars from Dodge featured several new or improved options. For example, a "C- stripe" variant of the bumble stripe was offered, in addition to new high-back bucket seats, a steering column-mounted ignition and a "pistol-grip" Hurst shifter on four-speed models. 1971 Pontiac GT 37 (GTO / Lemans) "What is a GT 37?" GTO pretty much owned the Muscle Car market in the mid to late 1960's, but by the late 60's, they had lost market share to increasing completion from more basic, lower priced, stripped down cars with "taxi cab" interiors and bench seats, such as the Plymouth Road Runner. The GT 37 was Pontiac's answer to the increasing competition, advertising the GT 37: "There's a little GTO in every GT 37, and you don't have to be over 30 to afford it". The GT37 was only manufactured for two years, from 1970 1/2 - 1971 1/2, with a total production in the two years of 7,221 units. In 1971 they manufactured 5,802 units, with only 572 units equipped like this car, with a 400 CI 4 Barrel. The 1971 GT 37 could be ordered with the same engine and transmission as the 1971 GTO, and was basically stripped down version of the GTO, with all the power of a GTO, lighter weight, with a lower price. This car was originally special ordered by a Gentleman in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where the car remained until 2002. In 2002, it was sold, and shipped from Canada to Southern California where it sat in a garage until 2014. The reason this car is so solid with minimal rust, is because of where it spent it's life- not exposed to snow and road salt like Midwest or East Coast cars. I purchased this car with the intention of restoring it, but I have too many other projects going now, and not enough time. I have documentation for much of the history of this vehicle, including the Pontiac Historical Services Report, Build Sheet, and Import Papers from when the car was imported from the US to Canada, as well as the name of the original Owner, and the dealer in BC Canada that it was delivered to. Pontiac Historical Services has verified that it is a true GT 37- not a clone. I also had the brake system checked, since the car had been sitting for so long, and was told the brakes were good, and only had about 5,000 miles on them. The car is currently registered and drivable, so it would be a good car to either drive for now or during restoration, or restore at a later time. The main selling point for me and the main reason I bought the car was because I have owned GTO's in the past, and almost all East Coast cars are rusted in the trunk where the inner wheel wells meet the trunk floor. As you can see by the pictures of the trunk, there is no rust inside the trunk. There is a small hole in the drivers side floor pan, but the rest of the underbody and frame are solid. There are some rust bubbles in the paint on the bottom rear of the front fenders and rockers, but only bubbles and no holes. The interior and headliner are mostly original, worn, but unmolested. The seat covers were recovered at one time, because they are black, and the original interior color was Ivory. There is no radio in the car presently, and no speaker holes in the kick panels or doors, but the entire interior including the headliner needs to be replaced. The windshield has a crack in it. Prior to leaving Canada, a previous owner decided to paint the car its present color, white, and thought it would be a good idea to also paint the chrome bumpers white, (I'm guessing they were trying to make the front end look more like a GTO). If I was to keep the car, I would either replace or have the bumpers re-chromed. Also prior to leaving Canada, the engine was replaced with a non- numbers matching 400 CI, and a Saginaw 3 speed heavy duty floor mounted transmission, (which was the base transmission in the GT37). I am told but cannot verify that the engine only has 5,000 miles on it. The car has a Holley Carb, and judging by the way the car idles, a mild cam. This is a very solid car, would be an excellent restoration candidate, and is sure to apprciate in value due to the rarity of the GT37. Almost all necessary restoration parts can be purchased through "Ames Performance Engineering", and other companies that specialize in Pontiac GTO restoration parts. *The CT DMV has been updating its computer system, and there have been delays in processing documents. I registered the car in early July, and do not have the Title yet. I'm hoping to have the Title by the time this listing ends. Of course the sale is contingent on my providing a clean title with the car.

This was found by decoding the vin. The 'J' in the vin indicates this. The 'fender tag' was removed from the car at some point. Therefore the cars original color, etc. cannot be confirmed. Cosmetically this car is now represented as a Challenger R/T 440 SIX PACK Convertible Tribute car. The car after completing a Rotisserie restoration now is furnished in beautiful "Banana" Yellow with Black R/T stripes and badging, Black Soft Top with stark white vinyl interior with wood grain trim. It features the 440 SIX PACK hood with ram air style scoops, Dodge R/T rally wheels, Pistol grip shifter, bucket seats, center console, Tachometer, Power soft top, 440 Magnum V8 with 3x2 bbl "SIX PACK", 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic, Power Steering, and Compact spare to name a few. This Challenger runs strong, looks great with no major problems found. It is a rust free car, however cosmetically we did discover what appears to be some bodywork bondo bubbling appearing on the lower quarter panels on both sides. There is no broken paint as of yet, but there is some blistering in these said locations. Don't miss out on this beautiful tribute Challenger R/T 440 "Six Pack" Tribute car!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dodge Challenger (Factory Info & Histroy) The Dodge Challenger is the name of three different generations of American automobiles marketed by the Dodge division of Chrysler. The Dodge Silver Challenger was produced from 1958 to 1959. From 1969 to 1974, the first generation Dodge Challenger pony car was built using the Chrysler E platform, sharing major components with the Plymouth Barracuda. The second generation, from 1978 to 1983, was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. The third, and current generation, was introduced in early 2008 as a rival to the evolved fifth generation Ford Mustang and the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro. Introduced in fall 1969 for the 1970 model year, it was one of two Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth Barracuda. "Both the Challenger and Barracuda were available in a staggering number of trim and option levels" and were intended "to compete against cars like the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, and to do it while offering virtually every engine in Chrysler's inventory." However, the 1970 Challenger was "a rather late response to the ponycar wave the Ford Mustang had started" with its introduction in April 1964. In his book Hemi Muscle Cars, Robert Genat wrote that the Challenger was conceived in the late 1960s as Dodge's equivalent of the Plymouth Barracuda, and that the Barracuda was designed to compete against the Mustang. The 1964 Barracuda was actually the first car in this sporty car segment by a few weeks, but was quickly overshadowed by the release of the segment defining Mustang (the segment being referred to as "Pony Car"). He added that Chrysler intended the new 1970 Dodge as "the most potent ponycar ever," and positioned it "to compete against the Mercury Cougar and Pontiac Firebird." Genat also noted that the "Barracuda was intended to compete in the marketplace with the Mustang and Camaro/Firebird, while the Dodge was to be positioned against the Cougar" and other more luxury-type musclecars. The Challenger's longer wheelbase, larger dimensions and more luxurious interior were prompted by the launch of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, likewise a bigger, more luxurious and more expensive pony car aimed at affluent young American buyers. The wheelbase, at 110 inches (2,794 mm), was two inches longer than the Barracuda, and the Dodge differed substantially from the Plymouth in its outer sheetmetal, much as the Cougar differed from the shorter-wheelbase Ford Mustang. Air conditioning and a rear window defogger were optional. Exterior design was done by Carl Cameron, who also did the exterior for the 1966 Dodge Charger. Cameron based the 1970 Challenger grille off an older sketch of his 1966 Charger prototype that was to have a turbine engine. The Charger never got the turbine, but the Challenger featured that car's grille. Although the Challenger was well received by the public (with 76,935 produced for the 1970 model year), it was criticized by the press, and the pony car segment was already declining by the time the Challenger arrived. Sales fell dramatically after 1970, and though sales rose for the 1973 model year with over 27,800 cars being sold, Challenger production ceased midway through the 1974 model year. A total of 165,437 Challengers were sold over this generation's lifespan. A 1970 Challenger R/T 440 Magnum was featured in the existentialist 1971 film Vanishing Point. For the 1973-74 season of the TV show Mannix the title character drove a 1974 Challenger Rallye, which was specially ordered and built for the show. The car had every option available including the 360 4-barrel engine and the rare factory sunroof. The Challenger was available as a two-door in either a hardtop coupe or a convertible body design, and in two models for its introductory year. The base model was the "Challenger" with either a I6 or V8 engine, as well as a "Challenger R/T" that included a 383 cu in (6.28 L) V8. The Special Edition or "Challenger SE" that added a number of appearance, convenience, and comfort items was "available as a model in either the Challenger R/T or Challenger."The standard engine on the base model was the 225 cu in (3.7 L) six-cylinder. The standard engine on the V8 was the 230 bhp (171.5 kW) 318 cu in (5.2 L) V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor. For 1970, the optional engines included the 340 and 383 cu in (5.6 and 6.3 L), as well as the 440 and 426 cu in (7.2 and 7.0 L) V8s, all with a standard 3-speed manual transmission, except for the 290 bhp (216.3 kW) 383 CID engine, which was available only with the TorqueFlite automatic transmission. A 4-speed manual was optional on all engines except the 225 CID I6 and the 2-barrel 383 CID V8. Collectability Although few mourned the end of the E-body models, the passage of time has created legends and highlighted the unique personalities of both the Challenger and the Barracuda. With a low total production, as well as low survivability over the years, any Challenger is worth a substantial amount of money. In a historic review, the editors of Edmunds Inside Line ranked these models as: 1970 was a "great" year, 1971 was a "good" one, and then "three progressively lousier ones" (1972-1974). With total sales and production off by 2/3 from 1970, the performance engine 1971 Challengers are the most rare. Sales and production of the 1973 cars (with only two V8s available) actually exceeded 1971 by approximately 1,700 cars. This may be explained by 1973 being a very good year for the U.S. auto industry in general and an increased interest in Chrysler (the Plymouth Barracuda and Plymouth Road Runner also saw sales increases) performance cars. Nowadays, you can expand your collection with various restored 1970's Challengers, or with some special, one-off Challenger, like this 1970 "Insidious" Challenger that was created, and sold, few years ago. [email protected] History of the Dodge Coupe To fit better in the Chrysler Corporation lineup, alongside low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, Dodge's lineup for early 1930 was trimmed down to a core group of two lines and thirteen models (from three lines and nineteen models just over a year previous). Prices started out just above DeSoto but were somewhat less than top-of-the-line Chrysler, in a small-scale recreation of General Motors' "step-up" marketing concept. DeSoto and Dodge would swap places in the market for the 1933 model year, Dodge dropping down between Plymouth and DeSoto. For 1930, Dodge took another step up by adding a new eight-cylinder line to replace the existing Senior six-cylinder. This basic format of a dual line with Six and Eight models continued through 1933, and the cars were gradually streamlined and lengthened in step with prevailing trends of the day. The Dodge Eight was replaced by a larger Dodge DeLuxe Six for 1934 and which was dropped for 1935. A long-wheelbase edition of the remaining Six was added for 1936 and would remain a part of the lineup for many years. Its 100% original sheetmetal reflects a smooth, 2-stage finish that was applied in the summer of 2014. Yards of original brightwork and stainless feature no modern supplements, with the exception of fresh chrome on the car's taillight housings and rear bumper. And, despite what some might call exaggerated proportions and excessive ornamentation, this graceful coupe is every bit as striking as it is handsome! Aesthetically, the engine's fresh Aluminum paint contrasts well against the car's Fiesta Red firewall and Gloss Black fenders. And behind the passengers, a virtually untouched trunk props an original jack and spare tire on an original mat.
