Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1972 (Last of the chrome bumper models) Detailed restoration by Rolls-Royce experts This is a very meticulously restored Silver Shadow saloon finished in 2-tone Magnolia over Old Ivory with "House of Lords" burgundy red. The waist-rails and hubcap beauty rings are accented with matching burgundy hand-painted fine lines. The colour combination is very elegant that presents beautifully and regally. In any setting the car takes on a very formal appearance. Contrasted with the rich red Connolly hides she simply looks stunning. This is a Californian car - its whole life - so is very clean and dry throughout without a spec of rust (before or after restoration!). It sports a "factory supplied" electric sun-roof which is quite rare for these early Shadows. The car has seen little use in its life having been dry stored on and off for many years. The car is so "clean" throughout that we believe the 26,000 miles is original. When Park-Ward acquired the car, it was very straight and completely dent free and overall clean. It sported 100% original paint, albeit it showing signs of fading and light scratches. The interior was clean and complete. It could easily have been described as in "drivable condition" but in order to achieve perfection, this gorgeous Silver Shadow has undergone considerable refurbishment. The paint job is stunning and was a bare metal respray costing some $18,000 and carried out by Rolls-Royce experts - Park-Ward Motor Museum's experienced RR body-shop. New front and rear window rubbers were fitted along with side window lower rubbers, body gaskets, clips, boot seal, edge finishers and sun-roof seal. All the bright work was removed and machined polished and then hand polished upon finally reassembly. This includes the grille, headlight brows, bumpers, side mouldings, rocker mouldings, door handles, bonnet moulding, hub caps, inner sill mouldings and door entry scuff plates. The finish is as good as you would hope for. To complete the "new-look" brand new tail lamp lenses and front turn signals and headlights were fitted! The interior is like new and is brochure quality. The Italian burl walnut wood is immaculate with the dash, console and rear vanity mirrors all original. Very rare for a Silver Shadow as the lacquer is usually peeling and cracked. This only further proves the car was a well cared for garaged example. The door wood and top roll windshield finisher have been redone by a previous owner and the finish is good. The final finish on the wood throughout is simply stunning. The leather is soft & supple with no tears or cracks and present beautifully having been re-Connollised (not the same as simple re-dying). It is completely original and just lovely. Any line or marks you see in the photos are the natural creases synonymous with Connolly hide leather. The Wilton wool carpets bound in leather are like new. The headlining in the car is excellent and we only refinished the rear parcel shelf as a result of some light staining. This was done in the factory correct wool broad-cloth as per Rolls-Royce specifications. All features and functions are working; electric windows, electric seats etc. The air conditioning blows icy cold with new hoses and valves having been recently fitted. Mechanically, this Shadow is a very fine example. Just a look at the engine bay pictures is testament to that. It has been detailed workshop inspected with anything required doing, attended to by Park-Ward's Rolls-Royce mechanics and craftsmen. The engine is smooth and quiet and the steering light but tight. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes were all fully inspected and serviced as required. This included servicing the reservoir, brake pumps, accumulators, valves, master cylinder, lines, hoses calipers and then final system pressure tested and bled. Many other serviceable parts were replaced and items attended to and repaired as needed. This includes the exhaust. It is ready to drive and enjoy. This Silver Shadow also drives very well, considerably quieter and smoother than you would normally expect for any Shadow of this era. Mileage is not verifiable but, commensurate with the car's pre-restoration condition, we believe it to be original. The white-wall tyres are brand new whitewall Cooper Trendsetters. As mentioned previously, the hubcaps have been machine polished and are excellent with no imperfections in the stainless or painted trim rings. The pin-striping on the beauty rings are finished in the original hand-painted technique using only the finest squirrel hair brushes and applied by an artisan with the steadiest of hands. All remaining bright-work is in excellent condition as are the chrome bumpers which are in beautiful condition. Every single feature and function is operating as it is supposed to and electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. A total of some $30,000 has been spent: Paint & finishers - $18,000 Interior refurbishment - $3,000 Mechanical service and repairs - $8,000 Sundry restoration items & procedures - $2,000 Early this year, the vehicle was taken on a Rolls-Royce Spring tour covering some 1,200 miles. It did so over 7 days effortlessly without a single issue or incident! ~~ This Silver Shadow is one of those hard-to-find examples where a considerable amount of money has been spent on restoring her to correct and original specifications. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment. Rolls-RoyceSilver Wraith II 1979 Bullet proof and armour plated! Here is a really interesting find for a Silver Wraith II. The car is a fully armour plated and bullet proof car bespoked specially for its owners who were avid car collectors and lovers of exotic cars. The owners; J.B. Nethercutt and his wife Dorothy Nethercutt purchased the Silver Wraith II new and had the full armament done. For those looking for some interesting "drug lord" and dictator stories will be disappointed, as the Nethercutts were the founders of a a large cosmetics company and not in any way "life threatened" (or not that we know!). They simply liked the idea of having an armour plated car. This Silver Wraith II is finished in 2-tone Walnut over Silver Sand with a mid tan vinyl top and fine lines in gold to the waist-rails. The interior is Biscuit tan with chocolate piping. The carpets are seat matching tan and the same colour theme carries through to the boot. On the rear doors, there are the faint markings of the owners initials. Originally hand painted but worn off thru polishing over the years. The Silver Wraith II is the long wheel base version of the Silver Shadow II. Easily identified by the same rear window (opera window) and standard fitment vinyl top, it is 4” longer in the rear door. This provides a noticeable increase in rear passenger space. This is a Californian and later a southern state car for most of its life so as a result, has been freed from the perils of harsh weather and is very clean underneath. It has always been well maintained and serviced and comes with its original manual. The Armour plating: The task of armour plating this example was monumental and involved some of the best components money could buy at the time. Kevlar, for example, is used widely throughout this car and one has to appreciate that it was only in 1971 that the product first came commercially available and as such, was very expensive. The cost of the armour plating to this Rolls-Royce is estimated at almost $100,000 in 1980. Specifications: 1-7/8 thick glass to front, rear and side windows Sealed glass on all doors except driver which allows for half opening. Each door has a bolt action lever that locks each door into the frame of the car. Not like a standard door lock, this bolt lock renders the door un-openable. The drivers door has a master solenoid to active all 4 (this feature is currently not functioning) Each door has a spring loaded steel plate "gun-port". Under attack, an individual simply pokes the barrel of his weapon into the gun port and shoots. The outer door skin on a Rolls-Royce is aluminium so the design is to simply "shoot thru the outer skin". All internal space is lined by Kevlar to offer maximum protection. As Kevlar is 5 times stronger than steel, the half inch of Kevlar used on this Rolls-Royce is technically equivalent to 2.5" thick steel plate. The trunk has an additional barrier of Kevlar and steel plate to protect the gas tank mounted behind the rear seat. The "double floor" of the trunk was used to conceal weapons. The front bumper conceals a 3" steel "girder" welded to the lower sub-frame so as to provide as a strong "battering ram" in a crisis situation The suspension on the car has been stengthened and stiffened for better handling and to support the estimate additional 2-3,000 lbs weight. The Silver Wraith II presented here has been work-shop inspected with all major work needed carried out. The most recent service just prior to listing included a complete rebuild of the hydraulics and brakes. This plus other mechanical work totalled $10,000 (full receipts available). The odometer shows a low 53,200 and although this is not verifiable, the mileage is commensurate with the condition. It is very quiet and smooth on the road without any of the typical “thumps” and “rattles” typical of poor (or even averagely) maintained examples of this model. She is surprisingly spritely given her additional weight. Overall the car is in nice condition but she is not a show car. Best described as a well maintained example that is neat and tidy but with various imperfections here and there. The paint is predominantly original but in hand with that is 40 year old paint technology and finish that is starting to show some blemishes. The vinyl top was changed at some stage and is not the original Everflex but is clean and nice presenting. The interior is "all together" but with the modifications as part of the armament, comes some compromise. The carpets had to be changed to accommodate a revised floor plan shape and so these are not the original Wilton wool. The seat cushions are also not factory finish and we are not sure why these were changed. The door woods were modified to accommodate the thicker glass and the surrounds to the front and rear window have modified trim to accommodate bullet-proofing materials. The factory wood on the dash and doors has some hairline cracks in the lacquer and various chips (rather typical for Rolls-Royce but considerably less than the average example). The car presents well overall but just to be clear, she is not show quality. We describe her as a good 7-8 out of 10. The bullet-proofing and armour plating are what make this car very cool of course and indeed quite unique. Given the eclectic nature of Rolls-Royce collectors and the uniqueness of the marque itself is what makes this car a desirable one to own. Not to mention if you have a real need to protect yourself - it all depends on how many enemies you have! ~~ This very interesting Silver Wraith II with armour plating and bullet protection is a very rare find and just the car you may need! Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1972 (Last of the chrome bumper models) Detailed restoration by Rolls-Royce experts This is a very meticulously restored Silver Shadow saloon finished in 2-tone Magnolia over Old Ivory with "House of Lords" burgundy red. The waist-rails and hubcap beauty rings are accented with matching burgundy hand-painted fine lines. The colour combination is very elegant that presents beautifully and regally. In any setting the car takes on a very formal appearance. Contrasted with the rich red Connolly hides she simply looks stunning. This is a Californian car - its whole life - so is very clean and dry throughout without a spec of rust (before or after restoration!). It sports a "factory supplied" electric sun-roof which is quite rare for these early Shadows. The car has seen little use in its life having been dry stored on and off for many years. The car is so "clean" throughout that we firmly believe the 26,000 miles is original. When Park-Ward acquired the car, it was very straight and completely dent free and overall clean without a spec of rust. It sported 100% original paint, albeit it showing signs of fading and light scratches. The interior was clean and complete. It could easily have been described as in "drivable condition" but in order to achieve perfection, this gorgeous Silver Shadow has undergone considerable refurbishment. The paint job is stunning and was a bare metal respray costing some $18,000 and carried out by Rolls-Royce experts - Park-Ward Motor Museum's experienced RR body-shop. New front and rear window rubbers were fitted along with side window lower rubbers, body gaskets, clips, boot seal, edge finishers and sun-roof seal. All the bright work was removed and machined polished and then hand polished upon finally reassembly. This includes the grille, headlight brows, bumpers, side mouldings, rocker mouldings, door handles, bonnet moulding, hub caps, inner sill mouldings and door entry scuff plates. The finish is as good as you would hope for. To complete the "new-look" brand new tail lamp lenses and front turn signals and headlights were fitted! The interior is like new and is brochure quality. The Italian burl walnut wood is immaculate with the dash, console and rear vanity mirrors all original. Very rare for a Silver Shadow as the lacquer is usually peeling and cracked. This only further proves the car was a well cared for garaged example. The door wood and top roll windshield finisher have been redone by a previous owner and the finish is good. The final finish on the wood throughout is simply stunning. The leather is soft & supple with no tears or cracks and present beautifully having been re-Connollised (not the same as simple re-dying). It is completely original and just lovely. Any line or marks you see in the photos are the natural creases synonymous with Connolly hide leather. The Wilton wool carpets bound in leather are like new. The headlining in the car is good and we only refinished the rear parcel shelf as a result of some light staining. This was done in the factory correct wool broad-cloth as per Rolls-Royce specifications. All features and functions are working; electric windows, electric seats etc. The air conditioning blows icy cold with new hoses and valves having been recently fitted. Mechanically, this Shadow is a very fine example. Just a look at the engine bay pictures is testament to that. It has been detailed workshop inspected with anything required doing, attended to by Park-Ward's Rolls-Royce mechanics and craftsmen. The engine is smooth and quiet and the steering light but tight. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes were all fully inspected and serviced as required. This included servicing the reservoir (flushed and bled), brake pumps, accumulators rebuilt, valves, master cylinder, lines, replaced every flexible hydraulic hose, service calipers and then final system pressure tested and bled. Many other serviceable parts were replaced and items attended to and repaired as needed. This includes the exhaust. At the photo link, I have included some 40 pictures of the underside which shows a completely original, rust-free, and a very straight underside. It was NOT detailed or washed for the pictures. Importantly, you can see it is completely oil-free. No oil leaks on a Silver Shadow is a rare thing! This example truly is ready to drive and enjoy. Mileage is not verifiable but, commensurate with the car's pre-restoration condition, we believe it to be original. The white-wall tyres are in good usable condition with 80% tread. To show this Silver Shadow's pedigree, at the end of winter, the car was shipped down to Florida to participate in a "Spring Tour". She covered some 1,000 miles effortlessly and without a single incident (you can see photos of the speedo "before" and "after"). She was shipped back here and then re-serviced to be offered here for sale. So she is not only a beautifully restored example but a tried and tested one, with proven reliability and performance. She drove, rode and handled beautifully on the tour, at all times with driver and 3 passengers. True testament to the Park-Ward Motors Museum's excellence in Silver Shadow restoration and maintenance. The winter photos were taken just before shipping to Florida, the spring photos taken when she came back this week. A driver's note from the tour; "This Silver Shadow drives amazingly, considerably quieter and smoother than you would normally expect for any Shadow of this era." As mentioned previously, the hubcaps have been machine polished and are excellent with no imperfections in the stainless or painted trim rings. The pin-striping on the beauty rings are finished in the original hand-painted technique using only the finest squirrel hair brushes and applied by an artisan with the steadiest of hands. All remaining bright-work is in excellent condition as are the chrome bumpers which are in beautiful condition. Every single feature and function is operating as it is supposed to and electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. A total of some $30,000 has been spent. There is way too much to list here but to give you an example of our commitment to excellence of the various processes, this is one such example of what we do: Doors and windows:- Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment. This item for sale is a 1978 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. I have owned this car for 22 years and continue to enjoy it. However, it is part of a larger collection of classic cars I have which I have been downsizing over the last two years, and now the time has come for this one to go to a new owner as well. Please see attached photos which show the excellent condition of this car. This is a genuine Canadian spec'd Rolls Royce sold new in 1978 by Gulliver Motors in Hamilton, Ontario to a lawyer in Montreal. I am the third owner. The color of the car is "Willow Gold" with a magnolia colored leather interior. As the photos show, the interior of this car is spectacular with great original leather with no splits or tears. The burl wood dash and door caps are virtually perfect as new piano wood. The dual control A/C blows cold. The radio, outside temperature gauge and clock all work. The car is fitted with hidden stereo CD player in the trunk that plays through the existing radio. The car has no operating issues and runs and stops as it should. In 1991 while still under the previous owner, some juveniles broke into the car and damaged all the dials in the dash including the speedometer, then scratched the exterior paint of the car. Subsequently, the car was refinished with new high end paintwork then wet sanded to a high shine that is vastly superior any 1978 vintage original paint. All of the interior dials in the dash were replaced including the speedometer. I have written documentation that verifies the reading on the damaged speedometer as being 69,382 kilometers ( 41,629 miles). A new speedometer was installed at that time with zero kilometers on it. It now reads 33,335 kilometers under my ownership which means this car has a total of only 61,630 actual miles from new. In 1991, this car was appraised at $65,000 after the new paintwork and speedometer replacement. I am now asking $23,500.00 which tells you that the high priced glory days of all 70's vintage Rolls Royce Shadow and Wraith models have long gone and its time to just have fun with these cars instead of worrying about pointless matters such as whether or not it still has its original paint because it will never be worth $65k again anyway. I have always used this car for my private enjoyment only. It is stored in a heated enclosed garage and was never driven in the winter months. For those of you who are retired and others who just want to earn some extra money, this car would be the perfect candidate to chauffer for weddings and other special events for $300-$500.00 cash every weekend from early spring to late fall. Although largely original, this Silver Wraith (chassis number WVA68) has benefitted from a Masons Black and Silver two tone paint with contrasting red coach stripes. The livery combination looks stunning with the original red leather interior. Many chrome items have been refinished, including the front and rear bumpers and door handles. The overall impression is wonderful and stately. This Rolls was ordered new by J. Cohen, Esq. at Kenilworth Court, Edgbaston, Birmingham, England. Mr. Cohen loved this Rolls. He owned the car from the time Hoopers delivered it to him in January 1948 until it transferred to its second owner in 1964. In 1995, WVA68 was owned by Karen W. MacHarg from Pinehurst, North Carolina. Ms. MacHarg enjoyed the car. The file history contains a letter from the author of the book on Silver Wraith motorcars, Mr. Bradford Powers of Palmer, Mass. In October 1995, Mr. Powers wrote to Ms. MacHarg stating that it must be one of the lowest original mileage Silver wraiths in the World. WVA68 was included in Mr. Powers book on Silver Wraiths. Ms. MacHarg sold the car to Mr. Jeff Minogue, a significant collector of Rolls-Royce motorcars in Northbrook, Illinois. It remained in his collection for nearly twenty years. WVA68 was purchased by us to remain in our collection. It was a featured motorcar in our recent wedding. We presently have no choice but to offer it for sale with great reluctance. Upon delivery of the car to us, we had approximately $12,000 worth of mechanical improvements made. The maintenance and repairs were performed by the last remaining factory trained Rolls-Royce engineer in North America, Mr. Roger Ford. These improvements include new brake drums, shoes, and hoses, complete and thorough major tune-up including carburetor rebuild, ignition wires, valve adjustment. The fuel tank was cleaned and lined, new fuel pump and thorough cleaning of the fuel system including a new sending unit. Five new tubes and white wall tires were purchased and installed on newly painted wheels. The compression was checked and it was measured at the correct factory level in all six cylinders at 100 ft lbs. The chassis was cleaned and detailed. Please examine the photographs carefully to see the wonderful condition of the original rear leaf spring gators (leather covers). This is indicative of a low mileage car that has not seen weather. They are in beautiful shape. The paint was thoroughly color sanded and looks beautiful. This model is the last year of the CCCA Full Classic status which are welcome at concours events throughout the US. After the improvements we participated in the La Jolla Motor Tour and the La Concours d'Elegance held on April 2014. The car drove 200 miles beautifully with continued operations at appropriate operating temperatures and oil pressure. It performs well at highway speeds and has plenty of power to climb hills, etc. Of course the brakes are brilliant! The instruments and radio work but the trafficators (turn signals) only work slightly. WVA68 will benefit from the following three areas: 1-Chassis/mechanical: the engine mount replaced (a new mount is included), front end rubber should be replaced and front end detailed; 2-Interior: the leather should be re-dyed and a new red leather cover made for the drivers seat (it was ordered new with an extra cover) and new Wilton carpet installed; and, 3-Exterior: the black paint needs lacquer touch-up for burned through areas from color sanding. WVA68 and retains its original engine W153A. It is Hooper's body number 9408 based on design 8034, a Touring Limousine. Although largely original, this Silver Wraith (chassis number WVA68) has benefitted from a Masons Black and Silver two tone paint with contrasting red coach stripes. The livery combination looks stunning with the original red leather interior. Many chrome items have been refinished, including the front and rear bumpers and door handles. The overall impression is wonderful and stately. This Rolls was ordered new by J. Cohen, Esq. at Kenilworth Court, Edgbaston, Birmingham, England. Mr. Cohen loved this Rolls. He owned the car from the time Hoopers delivered it to him in January 1948 until it transferred to its second owner in 1964. In 1995, WVA68 was owned by Karen W. MacHarg from Pinehurst, North Carolina. Ms. MacHarg enjoyed the car. The file history contains a letter from the author of the book on Silver Wraith motorcars, Mr. Bradford Powers of Palmer, Mass. In October 1995, Mr. Powers wrote to Ms. MacHarg stating that it must be one of the lowest original mileage Silver wraiths in the World. WVA68 was included in Mr. Powers book on Silver Wraiths. Ms. MacHarg sold the car to Mr. Jeff Minogue, a significant collector of Rolls-Royce motorcars in Northbrook, Illinois. It remained in his collection for nearly twenty years. WVA68 was purchased by us to remain in our collection. It was a featured motorcar in our recent wedding. We presently have no choice but to offer it for sale with great reluctance. Upon delivery of the car to us, we had approximately $12,000 worth of mechanical improvements made. The maintenance and repairs were performed by the last remaining factory trained Rolls-Royce engineer in North America, Mr. Roger Ford. These improvements include new brake drums, shoes, and hoses, complete and thorough major tune-up including carburetor rebuild, ignition wires, valve adjustment. The fuel tank was cleaned and lined, new fuel pump and thorough cleaning of the fuel system including a new sending unit. Five new tubes and white wall tires were purchased and installed on newly painted wheels. The compression was checked and it was measured at the correct factory level in all six cylinders at 100 ft lbs. The chassis was cleaned and detailed. Please examine the photographs carefully to see the wonderful condition of the original rear leaf spring gators (leather covers). This is indicative of a low mileage car that has not seen weather. They are in beautiful shape. The paint was thoroughly color sanded and looks beautiful. This model is the last year of the CCCA Full Classic status which are welcome at concours events throughout the US. After the improvements we participated in the La Jolla Motor Tour and the La Concours d'Elegance held on April 2014. The car drove 200 miles beautifully with continued operations at appropriate operating temperatures and oil pressure. It performs well at highway speeds and has plenty of power to climb hills, etc. Of course the brakes are brilliant! The instruments and radio work but the trafficators (turn signals) only work slightly. is a gorgeous 1948 Rolls-Royce Hooper Touring Limousine that has been lovingly cared for and has beautiful coach lines. Although largely original, this Silver Wraith (chassis number WVA68) has benefitted from a Masons Black and Silver two tone paint with contrasting red coach stripes. The livery combination looks stunning with the original red leather interior. Many chrome items have been refinished, including the front and rear bumpers and door handles. The overall impression is wonderful and stately. This Rolls was ordered new by J. Cohen, Esq. at Kenilworth Court, Edgbaston, Birmingham, England. Mr. Cohen loved this Rolls. He owned the car from the time Hoopers delivered it to him in January 1948 until it transferred to its second owner in 1964. In 1995, WVA68 was owned by Karen W. MacHarg from Pinehurst, North Carolina. Ms. MacHarg enjoyed the car. The file history contains a letter from the author of the book on Silver Wraith motorcars, Mr. Bradford Powers of Palmer, Mass. In October 1995, Mr. Powers wrote to Ms. MacHarg stating that it must be one of the lowest original mileage Silver wraiths in the World. WVA68 was included in Mr. Powers book on Silver Wraiths. Ms. MacHarg sold the car to Mr. Jeff Minogue, a significant collector of Rolls-Royce motorcars in Northbrook, Illinois. It remained in his collection for nearly twenty years. WVA68 was purchased by us to remain in our collection. It was a featured motorcar in our recent wedding. We presently have no choice but to offer it for sale with great reluctance. Upon delivery of the car to us, we had approximately $12,000 worth of mechanical improvements made. The maintenance and repairs were performed by the last remaining factory trained Rolls-Royce engineer in North America, Mr. Roger Ford. These improvements include new brake drums, shoes, and hoses, complete and thorough major tune-up including carburetor rebuild, ignition wires, valve adjustment. The fuel tank was cleaned and lined, new fuel pump and thorough cleaning of the fuel system including a new sending unit. Five new tubes and white wall tires were purchased and installed on newly painted wheels. The compression was checked and it was measured at the correct factory level in all six cylinders at 100 ft lbs. The chassis was cleaned and detailed. Please examine the photographs carefully to see the wonderful condition of the original rear leaf spring gators (leather covers). This is indicative of a low mileage car that has not seen weather. They are in beautiful shape. The paint was thoroughly color sanded and looks beautiful. This model is the last year of the CCCA Full Classic status which are welcome at concours events throughout the US. After the improvements we participated in the La Jolla Motor Tour and the La Concours d'Elegance held on April 2014. The car drove 200 miles beautifully with continued operations at appropriate operating temperatures and oil pressure. It performs well at highway speeds and has plenty of power to climb hills, etc. Of course the brakes are brilliant! The instruments and radio work but the trafficators (turn signals) only work slightly. WVA68 will benefit from the following three areas: 1-Chassis/mechanical: the engine mount replaced (a new mount is included), front end rubber should be replaced and front end detailed; 2-Interior: the leather should be re-dyed and a new red leather cover made for the drivers seat (it was ordered new with an extra cover) and new Wilton carpet installed; and, 3-Exterior: the black paint needs lacquer touch-up for burned through areas from color sanding. WVA68 and retains its original engine W153A. It is Hooper's body number 9408 based on design 8034, a Touring Limousine. This is a gorgeous Silver Wraith that we are selling from our personal collection. It is with regret that we must sell this elegant motorcar.
