Look no further than this sharp 1935 Chevy cabriolet, which has similar styling to the more common '34 Ford but offers a bowtie twist and extensive recent service so it's ready to cruise this summer. The body is by Downs Fiberglass and accurately captures the unique Chevy shape, which is streamlined like many mid-30s cars but still has upright classic design cues. Flowing fenders, a V-shaped grille, and a curvaceous deck lid give it a sleek look a look emphasized by the chopped windshield and relative lack of ornamentation. The fiberglass is nicely finished and still looks great even though it was finished in 2005. Bright red paint stands out and doesn't need graphics or pinstripes to look fantastic. The chunky body looks more muscular than your run-of-the-mill Ford cabriolet. The wide grille has a shiny insert flanked by a pair of King-Bee-style headlamps, but any evidence of bumpers or other extraneous trim has been neatly exorcised from the body. Out back, LED taillights are neatly integrated into the tail pan, along with a recessed license plate frame, and please take a moment to note how neatly the body molding wraps around the lower valence and into the rear fenders, a very trick detail. Despite the vintage look, the driver's compartment is state-of-the-art in street rods, with a fully custom ultra-leather interior, bucket seats, and all the creature comforts. Low-back buckets are comfortable and stylish, and thanks to the wide doors that open almost 90-degrees to the body, climbing in is easy, even with the top in place. Custom sisal carpets and floor mats, beautifully sculpted door panels, and a sleek digital dash are all evidence that price was no object during the build. A polished tilt steering column is topped by a custom billet steering wheel and there are discreet vents for the Vintage Air HVAC system. Auxiliary controls like the ignition switch, power windows, and light controls are all stashed under the dash where they're out of sight, as is the AM/FM/CD stereo system that's powerful enough to be heard at speed. The removable top is fully finished inside and out and the surprisingly spacious trunk will carry all your gear without complaint. I guess a small block Chevy in a Chevy rod shouldn't be ground-breaking, and the torquey L98 certainly looks at home under the pointed hood. Lots of chrome sets it apart and makes it look as good under the skin as it does outside and you'll note that the block itself has been color-matched to the bodywork. There's a big aluminum radiator up front and a billet accessory drive that tucks tight to the block for decent service access. Custom headers feed a fabricated dual exhaust system that wraps around the TCI frame. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch Ford round out the driveline, and there are freshly rebuilt coil-over shocks at all four corners. Big-n-little Foose billet wheels give it a wicked rake and wear 225/40/18 front and 275/45/20 Nitto radials. With receipts for over $7000 worth of A/C and suspension work in November, this rod is road-ready and can certainly collect a few more trophies along the way. Polished and carrying the look of a much bigger, more impressive car, the Chevrolet looks and acts like its in a separate class altogether-which maybe it is. This car won all the big awards when it was finished in 2006, and since then its been driven a bit, but nothing diminishes the handsome good looks of the 1932 Chevrolet. Beautifully styled with upscale touches like the two-bar headlight support, fluted fenders, and chrome hood doors, it looks a lot like its bigger, more expensive cousins over at Buick and Cadillac. The three-tone paint captures the fun and upscale attitude that Chevy was trying to emulate, and even though its been a few years since it won all its awards, it still looks fantastic. Pinstripes highlight the wonderful design elements on the leading and trailing edges of the fenders and even utilitarian parts like the rumble seat steps and horns became beautiful styling elements on the Chevy. And as a former show-winner, you know the chrome is excellent, with plenty of it on the grille, bumpers, and even the lovely little cowl lights and landau bars on the top. Unlike the Ford, this Chevy looks nothing like a bargain price. Simple brown leather makes up the interior of this Chevy, but as a cabriolet with roll-up windows instead of an open roadster, it has a few upscale design details. Note the color-matched dashboard, the beautiful door panels with map pockets, and a beautiful engine-turned instrument panel with a full complement of gauges to monitor the engine. An accessory temperature gauge has been mounted under the dash, but it is discreetly hidden and doesnt detract from the overall presentation at all. Low-mounted windshield wipers are still vacuum powered, neatly installed on the woodgrained garnish molding below the chrome windshield. The seats, including the rumble seat in back, remain in excellent condition with minimal signs of use and that big steering wheel gives fingertip control without the need for power steering. The tan canvas top folds easily and has an opening rear window so that you can converse with back-seat passengers without putting the top down. While Ford was building the rugged but basic 4-cylinder Model A, this silky smooth inline six with overhead valves was powering the Chevy competition. Rebuilt and restored, the engine fits neatly under the hood and includes an original downdraft carburetor and oil bath air cleaner, as well as an industry-leading mechanical fuel pump to replace the primitive vacuum tank. Corporate gray paint on the engine belies its affordability, but the engine is smooth and torquey and renowned for its ruggedness. A 3-speed manual transmission shifts easily thanks to the adoption of synchromesh on second and third gears, and the rear end has gears tall enough to make driving around town a shiftless affair. Pretty painted wire wheels affixed to either end of live axles make up the rolling stock, and wear 5.25/5.50-18 whitewalls to really add some flash. Far more unusual than a Ford and arguably even more attractive, this Chevrolet offers a unique combination of style and practicality that were its hallmarks then and today. Call now! Fastidiously maintained by Bud's Benz in Douglasville Georgia, this stunning Euro is rumored to be the former car of Hollywood actress Shirley Mitchell. Its all-too-appropriate Black lacquer is exceptionally dynamic and absolutely nails the formal appearance Daimler has spent over 80 years cultivating. Its finish is flat and smooth. Its gaps are as you would expect from something with a three-point star. And while this vintage treasure does show a few signs of being driven, it's an outstanding cruiser that mixes a super straight body with great build quality. Like all of Stuttgart's best luxury metal, this convertible's styling is brilliantly executed with excellent proportions that, rightfully, place form over function. At the front of its body, a slightly canted grille hangs a familiar Mercedes-Benz emblem between chrome-trimmed headlights, streamlined parking lamps and a curved chrome bumper that's fitted with Bosch driving lights. Behind that grille, a long hood centers straight stainless trim behind a fine Mercedes gun sight. Behind that hood, a flat windscreen floats among small stainless wipers, a fresh black top and ornate chrome hinges. At the sides of that screen, stylish coach doors swivel between a small mirror, small antenna and polished rocker guards. And at the back of the car, vintage tail lamps illuminate a simple fuel filler, classy Mercedes trunk emblems, clean stainless exhaust and a second curved bumper. Mechanically, this Benz exemplifies top notch restoration via a correct M130 6-cylinder that's been completely rebuilt. Hoist the car's narrow hood and you'll find the final iteration of Daimler's 'mid-sized' SOHC inline six that, in this rendition, creates 79 horsepower. Similar in design to Chevrolet's storied Blue Flame, the 'mid-sized six' isn't a grossly overpowered piece. But it's certainly proven its ability to scoot this large luxury car down the boulevard with comfort and reliability. At the top of the proven block, restored air induction pipes wind into a familiar Solex carburetor. At the base of that carb, a silver, factory-correct valve cover caps factory intake and exhaust manifolds. At the front of that valve cover, a traditional points distributor sequences spark between a high quality Bosch coil and fresh Belden High Temperature plug wires. And the car's clean engine bay is dotted with many road-ready essentials, including a fresh battery and Willy Vogel brake components. Based on Mercedes' stalwart W187 architecture, the 220B champions a strong, 4-speed manual transmission that's rowed by an unconventional, column-mounted shifter. A fully independent suspension commands a nice, 112-inch wheelbase to mix composed turns with cloud-like ride quality. Naturally, there's old school manual steering. At the perimeter, manual drum brakes, which were recently rebuilt, provide solid, drama-free stops. Spent gases flow through a single-pipe exhaust system, which utilizes a big muffler and rear-mounted resonator to emit barely a murmur. All that cushy technology rides on snazzy, 15-inch wheels which spin 6.40-15 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around Mercedes-branded center caps. And aesthetically, the car's undercarriage is exactly what you'd expect from a well-traversed cruiser, with clean floors that display no evidence of abuse, neglect, or damage. On the inside, this well-mannered Mercedes is vintage Teutonic luxury at its finest. Soft leather benches are supremely comfortable and look great in their subdued Red tint. In front of those thrones, crystal clear gauges are laid out in typical Mercedes fashion: three binnacles with simple dials. Behind those gauges, a straight dash features rich wood trim that flows into great looking wood door toppers. Below that dash, a combination of clean red carpet and fresh black mats harkens back to the days of formal sedans. At the sides of that flooring, leather door panels hang sizable map pockets below simple chrome handles. And in front of the driver, a black, Mercedes-branded steering wheel maintains excellent road manners while providing a heavy, luxury car feel.
