For sale in our Orlando showroom is a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair. The Corvair from Chevrolet came at a time when America\'s auto makers were producing one size of vehicle, large. Seeing the trend start to unfold in the late 50\'s towards smaller more economical imports, Chevrolet jumped on the design bandwagon to bring their own flavor to the lineup. Built to compete against foreign competitors such as the Type 3 VW and Fiat 1300 the Corvair also held its own with domestic offerings such as the Ford Falcon and Plymouth Valiant. In 1960 the first Corvairs were well received by the press and the general public for its engineering, style, and performance. Providing a plethora of firsts for GM such as uni body construction, 4 wheel independent suspension, and air cooled flat 6 cylinder engine it\'s easy to see why this was the Motor trend car of the year for 1960. The Corvair we have in our Orlando showroom is a wonderfully restored example of the Monza version. Packing a 110hp air cooled flat 6 engine in the back the Corvair was hailed at the \"poor man\'s Porsche\", the performance of the Corvair revolved around light weight and exceptional handling. This silver monza definitely has a great amount of street appeal that gets plenty of attention. The Corvair is a breed that was unfortunately saddled in controversy which makes their numbers small and highly desirable. Treated to a recent restoration the interior and paint on this Monza are stunning in the sunlight and definitely are an eye catching combo. The 2 speed automatic transmission shifts great and you can feel plenty of pep from the 110hp all aluminum flat six in the rear. Located in our Orlando Showroom this 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza can be seen including HD pictures and videos at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Hello to all Ebayers! I have very little feedback but I've been with EBay for several years and I want to keep my reputation with EBay at 100%. I bought this car with the intention of bringing it to California but I currently do not have enough storage to hold onto it. I really like the color combination which is why I bought this car. I recently lost a storage location so I'm not able to keep this one. I have not seen the car myself and these pictures are approximately 2 months old. I am willing to let it go at a very reasonable price. This Corvair is located in a Copart facility in Austell, Georgia. I have a clear Indiana title that will be mailed to the buyer. PRICED TO SELL !!! Here is the description I have from the previous owner: "For Sale is a a project I had been working on since 06. This is not a rust-free car. The body looks great. Underneath has some imperfections but nothing major and it is derivable. Car runs and drives strong. This Corvair has a 4 speed manual transmission. Shifts great and clutch works great. Doors shut smoothly. It has been on the road for around 5 years. I rebuilt the brakes. Has updated electric charging Alternator . Convertible Top is new. Seats are new. Carpet is new, I installed fiberglass pans front and back. The wheels are 14' Nissan Iron Crosses, tires are excellent. Comes with a few extra parts, like Hub Caps, lens's, starters, heater parts, more red carpet, etc." This is your chance to own this Chevy Corvair for a very reasonable price. If you'd like to contact me send me an Ebay Message with your phone number and I can contact you. Otherwise feel free to ask questions through Ebay Message. I want to make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase. Please bid with confidence and if you have any questions that I might not have covered in the description, please don’t hesitate to ask. You can email me or send me your phone number and I will give you a call. I will help arrange shipping. You can try United Auto Transport for shipping. They’re a very reliable company. Call 800-963-5505 to receive a quote for transport. I’m able to store it for a couple of weeks after purchase is made if you need time lining it up. Keep in mind she’s over 50 years old. I’m not a dealer, just passionate about classic cars and trucks. Please be ready to buy when you click. A non refundable $500 deposit is due at purchase and final payment within 7 days. Balance is to be paid by wire or a certified bank cashier’s check. Check will need to clear before the car will be released and title is sent. The winning bidder needs to contact me within 24 hours of auction end to make payment arrangements. Please arrange all financing prior to bidding. If you are not sure about something please ask! Do not assume anything. All non-paying high bidders will be reported to EBay. General Information: The information that I have is from the previous owner. It is your responsibility to inspect the car or send a third party inspector for your satisfaction. Remember this is a 51 year old car and can have some imperfections that are not in the description that I am not aware of. As with most pre-owned vehicles, minor wear may be discernible and degree of wear is often related to age of the vehicle such as but not limited to: scuffs, scratches, dings, dents, fading, paintwork, minor rock chips, and other imperfections. This is your chance to own this great classic.

Rarely do nice original examples of these early Corvair's come up for sale, there simply aren't many left that are this original and unmolested. The car shows just 21,800 (+/-) miles and though there is no documentation to substantiate the miles on the car, the car shows virtually no wear, particularly in its interior. Most of the paintwork on the car is original to the car as well, though I do believe the left fender and rear deck lid on the car have been resprayed at some time. Interestingly however, all panels measure the same paint thickness...... The cars originality is unquestionable. It runs and performs well though can be a bit difficult to start when cold. The fuel pump was just recently replaced. There is no steering play, brake pedal pressure and modulation is excellent. All systems on the car function, all electronics function inclusive of the Cars original radio. It does leak some oil, they all do, they all will, they always have, though the leakage is neither substantial or severe. Chrome and glass are in unbelievably nice condition and again, original to the car; chrome is like new. There is NO rust in the car. This is a GREAT car to drive and show as is and it's originality is always commented on. I think these cars are long overdue in the collector world..... here is an opportunity to acquire a 50 year old car, in simply wonderful original condition and THAT is pretty rare these days. A perfect car with which to enter the collector car hobby. Welcome to addiction :) Get me close.....

1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza. Just up from Florida This is a very clean original car with no rust or issues at all. It has the 110 HP motor, Very rare Dual exhaust, factory A/C, factory tinted windows, wire wheels. This car had the motor rebuilt recently and new interior headliner to carpet. Dash, door panels, rear folding seat are all in excellent condition. I put this car on the lift and couldn't believe how clean everything is. Really excellent, see pics. The A/C compressor was not put back in when the motor was rebuilt but is with the car. The rest of the A/C is all in the car. Looks like just put back the compressor, all the brackets are still attached so it looks pretty easy. All of the lights, blinkers, horn, everything works as it should. Very cool car and a blast to drive. Really has some get up and go. It had a repaint at some time in its life and looks near perfect. There are a few very small touch ups done to very small chips and that's it. I have included a walk around video which gives you a good feel for the car. Hit the key and it's running. Video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRZ4kAL3kYA If you want more pics or have any questions feel free to ask. Any questions, please ask prior to bidding. There is a $500.00 non-refundable deposit required upon purchase. I have a Florida Title with a bill of sale so it can go anywhere. I am more than happy to help load with any transport outfit you may choose. I've sold many cars on E-bay over the years and positive feedback from every buyer. Thank You in advance. Feel free to call our Sales Hotline at (603) 818-8511 for a "walk around" verbal description of each vehicle we have in our warehouse. Our written ads reflect both the fact that we really love these cars and feel that we are saving a part of America. We do our best to describe some of the features that you might find important. As a buyer of a car that is older than 25 model years, unless the car is represented as perfect (which our cars are not), you need to be aware that there are many smaller things that may or may not work, or may work one day and not the next, in these cars. This is due to the fact that they are over 25 years old. When bidding on a car please keep this in mind. It was the only mass-produced US. car with a rear-mounted-air cooled engine, and GM produced close to 1.8 million of these versatile cars, including this neat 1964 Corvair Monza convertible. The Corvair line up spanned two-door coupes and convertibles, four-door sedans, station wagons, pickup trucks and even vans. One has to wonder if given more time, the Corvair engineers would have found a way to make them float and fly. Nicely refinished in the late 80s, this Corvair wears a coat of correct code 942 Goldwood Yellow which offers a bright and lustrous finish even after 25 years. The sheet metal runs straight and the panel gaps are to industry standards, although it seems that this one is better assembled than most. Sure, there are a few signs of use, but since it was restored, this car has obviously enjoyed a pretty easy life. The amount of chrome GM attached to a Corvair was tasteful by 1964 standards, and it is all in very good condition, including the bumpers that looks a lot fresher than you'd think. Chrome block letters announce "Corvair" on both the hood and the trunk, whose lid is punched full of louvers to help cool the engine underneath. Then of course there's that unique front end, which has no need for a grille opening and instead has a clean, unspoiled look. The interior continues the designer's straightforward approach and the code 712 black vinyl upholstery works well with the exterior color treatment. A pair of bucket seats don't offer much lateral support, but they're all-day comfortable and offer a lot of room inside the relatively compact Corvair. Remarkably, the back seat is covered in original upholstery, and the door panels, while not show condition, are in very good shape and show minimal wear and no damage. This car also carries ultra-rare factory A/C, which is almost never seen in 1964, let alone on a Corvair, and the stereo has been upgraded to an AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo unit that fits well in the center of the dash. Interior space is excellent for a compact, and thanks to the rear engine-format, there's no tunnel to divide the interior up. The manual convertible top raises and lowers easily so no worries about servicing expensive electric top motors, and once it's up, the black top adds the perfect contrast to the bright yellow Corvair. And there's that giant forward trunk, which wears correct spatter paint and a full-sized spare right in the center. The Monza model is equipped with a more powerful 164 cubic inch flat-six that pumps out 95 horsepower, a 15 horsepower bump from the standard Corvair powerplant. Rebuilt about 5000 miles ago, the engine bay out back is very well finished with a lot of shiny aluminum and chrome, a modern Sanden A/C compressor with R134a refrigerant inside, and dual carbs to help make a little more horsepower. The PowerGlide 2-speed automatic transmission shifts between the gears without complaint and despite all of Ralph Nader's fuss, the car is quite user-friendly overall. It's not restored underneath, but a lifetime someplace warm means that there aren't any nasty secrets hiding there, either. This tidy little ragtop rolls down the road on 13-inch whitewall radials mounted on the original steel wheels with wire hubcaps. Still affordable, still fun, and still practical, this Corvair Monza is a great way to own a vintage convertible without the vintage convertible price. This Corvair drives really nicely. Meticulously maintained. To our knowledge this car only had two previous owners. The engine starts and runs excellently but has normal oil seepage. Everything works well -- radio, heater, lights, and gauges all work. The interior is original and in excellent condition, except for a single tear in the driver seat upholstery. The dash is excellent with very clear gauges. Everything works. The body looks very presentable although it has some minor dents and multiple scratches. It appears to have had some paintwork. We cannot find any structural or body damage. No cracks in any of the glass. Excellent chrome and stainless. Comes with original jack and spare wheel. The undercarriage is in very nice condition and solid. Please see pictures. Drive as is or give it some cosmetic restoration. Odometer reads: 41618. Miles not verified. Clear title. Sold as is. Please see pictures. ** Important ** If you have a feedback rating of 2 or less, please contact us prior to bidding. Otherwise we reserve the right to cancel your bid. This recipient of a 2014 $30,000 restoration is the truly classic American collector’s find! Finished in it’s correct Artesian blue paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Inside, the white vinyl seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. The door panels are finished to match the seats and dashboard are matched to mirror the exterior of the car and all look fantastic. Paint and body are displayed well with minimal paint issues and no visible evidence of repair or damage that we could find. The Chevrolet Corvair is a compact automobile manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet for model year 1960–1969 over two generations. As the only American-designed, mass produced passenger car to feature a rear mounted air-cooled engine, the Corvair range included a two-door coupe, convertible, four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon body styles, as well as passenger van, commercial van, and pickup truck variants. The Corvair competed with imported cars such as the original Volkswagen Beetle, as well as the Falcon, Plymouth, Studebaker Lark and the Rambler American. New refinements appeared on the 1965 redesign. The Corsa came standard with an instrument panel featuring a 140 mph speedometer with resettable trip odometer, a 6,000 rpm tachometer (slightly off on rpms), cylinder head temperature gauge, analog clock with a sweeping second hand, a manifold vacuum/pressure gauge and fuel gauge. A much better heater system, larger brakes borrowed from the Chevelle, a stronger differential ring gear, a Delcotron alternator (replacing the generator), and significant chassis refinements were made. AM/FM stereo radio, in-dash All Weather Air Conditioning, telescopically adjustable steering column, and a Special Purpose Chassis Equipment (“Z17”) handling package, consisting of a special performance suspension and quick ratio steering box, were significant new options for 1965. This true example of a Corsa Corvair is equipped with a 4 carburetor “Turbo-Air 164” 2.7L 140hp flat 6 cylinder (matching numbers) engine coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, larger brakes, 140mph speedometer, Notebook containg everything from the original delivery date at the dealership to restoration receipts, original owners manual and spare set of keys. These series II Corvairs are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Current mileage on the odometer shows 57,495, it is sold as is and is mileage exempt. The car is being sold on a clean & clear title. Offered for sale are TWO 1963 Chevy Corvair project cars. Neither car runs - or has ever - in my 12+ years of ownership. Both roll and are transportable in their condition. The main car, the convertible needs a restoration - but is very restorable. It will need a patch-panel or two - but not many. The floors have been patched, but not properly or professionally. Sheet metal was screwed to the floor after the rusted metal was removed. These panels are available. The seat are in good condition, not sure if they are original. Trunk is NOT rotted out - but rusty. The convertible top was rotted out when I received the car - so I cut the remains out. The frame is good. It appears to be a manual top - by the absence of any electrical switch under the dash. The five (5) rims have been media-blasted and powder coated blue (I intended to make the car a blue-on-blue, which I think the exterior was originally). They have brand new, zero mile, steel belted radials on all five wheels. The second car is also a 1963, but a coupe and a 'Spyder' with a 150 HP Turbo motor and a four speed transmission. My aim was to swap the Turbo/4-speed combo into the convertible while doing the restoration needed. Shipping of both vehicles is the responsibility of the buyer, but the seller will assist with the coordination, in anyway possible. $500 deposit within 48 hours of the close of the sale. Remainder due within 7 days.

After all, you can take this vintage convertible home for less than the price of a new econobox; you can maintain it with a basic tool set; and it's always a conversation piece. Corvairs always turn heads wherever they go, with the perfect mix of European styling and American chrome. Of course, it also doesn't hurt that this one is wearing its factory-correct shade of Palomar Red. It's a sunny day kind of cruiser, but even when the weather turns wet, the new black vinyl top gives it a nice sports car-like appearance. Like any good 1960s American, there's nice chrome on the front bumper, and on the lower rocker panel. This is the performance Monza model, so it also gets the cool badging, and sport wire wheel covers. Inside there are some nice touches that let you know this car was someone's baby. The deep black interior elements look amazing, with no fading on everything from the dash, to the carpets. The top-of-the-line Monzas came with bucket seats as standard equipment. Their button-textured pattern is not often seen outside of the convertibles, which means not many people take the time to get them right like this in restorations. The dual cowl dash borrows styling for this Corvair like a Corvette, and the driver gets to take command with the optional deluxe chrome steering wheel. This interior feels original right down to the heater/defrost controls and factory AM radio. Chevrolet was out for something truly different with the Corvair. The rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six motor is set up for a lower center of gravity, and some Porsche-style handling fun at a value price. This engine was built to have a large rev range, and this is really felt while rowing through the floor-mounted four-speed manual transmission. But this drop top was not run at the ragged edge all its life, and the included maintenance receipts will prove to you this desirable history. The Corvair is that perfect classic you can pick up without going broke. That's especially true when you look at one as thoroughly sorted as this. What other convertible can you possibly enjoy this much for under $15K? Relisting due to no response winning bidder and flaking buyer, but seeing as this seems to be an increasing occurrence here on ebay unfortunately for all sellers, I am going to relist this one as a static buy it now. Thanks and onwards! I am EXTRAORDINARILY excited to offer for a sale this beautiful, rare, 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible. It has been well cared for, drives like a DREAM and looks absolutely stunning in Goldwood Yellow over Black vinyl. This is a long ad, but please be sure to read the entire thing - there is a lot of wonderful detail to cover! Let's dive right in! Background: We all know the background on the Corvair: feeling pressure to fill a gap for smaller cars in the American market, Chevy, led by general manager Ed Cole, pushed the now famous Corvair through to production for the 1960 model year. It offered a number of differences then anything else the Big 3 were producing like a unibody frame, rear mounted horizontal air cooled engine, a small sporty stance and super sleek body. Corvairs came in a variety of flavors from coupes, to sedans, to forward control style vans and pickups. But one of the stand out models of any of the Corvairs offered was the very rare Monza Spyder Convertible. So what made this car so special? Chevy had done reasonably well with the convertible Corvair selling ~31,000 of them in standard Monza trim in 1964. But this Monza was upgraded from the factory to a Monza Spyder and that one little word makes all the difference. Gracing the engine bay of the pretty convertible was a turbo charged version of the Chevy flat-6 engine that produced upwards of 70 more horsepower than the stock 80hp engine! 150hp from a drop top, small Chevy made this little beauty a sight to behold AND a treat to drive. Because many people were looking for a more economical car when purchasing the Corvair, not many Monza Spyders sold in their short run for the additional $317 it cost to check the Spyder box. About 4,700 cars were sold, with only a fraction remaining today! The Spyder offered not just the engine, but revised gauges, custom badging and bespoke trim So let's chat more about this car specifically! Made in October of 1964 and ordered in the stunning pastel known as Goldwood Yellow, this car looks remarkably sporty over its black vinyl interior. The top, also black, completes the overall look. Paired with the boosted engine was the optional 4 speed transmission, making this a wonderful car to drive! This car is part of a major private collection featuring some very significant marques. It has been cared for in house and kept in ready to drive condition by a large team. It sits beside other Corvairs within the collection: a Greenbriar, sedan and wagon. Check out the below featured Cover Story from Classic & Sports Car Magazine on this very Corvair and its stable mates in the collection! This car is part of a greater enjoyment and celebration of all things Corvair, not just a one off purchase. The Condition and Service: Let's start on the engine and drivetrain: -ENGINE This engine comes to life immediately with a twist of the key. With even a crack of the throttle it, the Corvair feels torquey, smooth and powerful, and effortlessly pulls away! More then a leisurely drive? Keep your foot in it and the real thrill of the engine comes to life! The turbo is in its sweet spot of building boost and you comfortably and quickly pull away from your fellow drivers. The sound of that flat 6 with a hint of turbo noise whooshing behind you reminds you very quickly how special this car really is. ZERO air/fuel issues, ZERO detonation, ZERO black smoke, ZERO hesitations or flat spots. Check out the underside pics and the engine bay pics! -TRANSAXLE The 4 speed transmission is in FANTASTIC shape. Tight, confident shifts. NO grinds, NO syncro issues. The shifter eases into gear without any drama. -SUSPENSION No bangs, no rough ride, no clunks! The shocks dampen wonderfully! The car is tight in corners, and comfortable on the straights! -BRAKES Confident pedal, great pressure with a firm positive stop. Shoes and drums have good life in both front and rear and feel fantastic! -STEERING Steering feels good, no excessive play or vibrations. Let's continue to the exterior: -PAINT and BODY The paint is VERY nice! It is a 8 out of 10 easily. Shiny, beautiful, Goldwood Yellow paint was recently polished, finished and waxed and looks wonderful. Car was repainted in the reasonably recent past and shines nicely. No signs of a bondo job, accidents, or rust. The flaws are so minor they are essentially unnoticeable unless someone points them out. Some very minor overspray in little insignificant areas, small chips or touch ups, and other such minor flaws. I can only see some of these extremely minor flaws from certain angles and I can't capture it in pictures well, but I have included below any of the photographable flaws. This car presents as a "Driver +", to some perhaps a "Show -". Clean floors and no rust lurking around. The trunk floor has a couple areas where the splatter paint has chipped and there is some light surface oxidation (photoed below). -WHEELS In 1964, the 13" Kelsey Hayes wire wheels were a $900 option! Thankfully, to save yourself the headaches of finding a set to complete the ideal Corvair, this yellow beauty already features a set! These wheels when they come for sale are VERY expensive. The wheels present well, shine bright and look nice! Some minor flaws, chipping of chrome, light surface oxidation at those chips, etc, but nothing significant to take away from the overall beauty of the wheels and the car. -TIRES Plenty of tread left on the 175/80/13 tires! -BUMPERS and BRIGHT WORK The bumpers are in wonderful shape! No dents, cracks or issues! Chrome is nice all around the car with only minor flaws. -GLASS/WINDOWS Not to let a pebble defeat this car, the windshield is great shape, with no chips or sandblasting. The door and rear glass is wonderful shape! Clear and clean! -CONVERTIBLE TOP The top is in nice shape! No tears or splits and very flexible and not brittle. The black top shines nice in the sun! The rear window is reasonably clear. If 1 was destroyed and 10 was crystal clear, I would call this a 7+ or 8-. No tears, very soft and pliable, but just a touch of sun fade. Still easy to see through when driving and does not obscure vision nor take away from the car. The latches snug up nicely and line up very nicely with the dowel pins when putting the top up. With a touch of a button, the top hides away! No issues with the mechanism! Onto the cabin: -SEATS The Black vinyl seats are in great shape! No splits, no worn spots! Just wonderful soft vinyl! To my belief they are the original seat coverings and look 9/10 on condition! They are comfortable and the dual buckets look great! Rear seats are in great shape as well! -DASHBOARD ZERO cracks. Beautiful shape!! -DOOR PANELS Very nice what appear to be original panels, wonderful map pockets and armrest! -CARPET Very nice carpet in the car! No heel wear or stains! -WINDOWS All windows roll down and up with no issues. Good tracks and no dead rollers. -RADIO Original radio looks great, but is not working. Have not had this checked out because a turbocharged flat 6 sounds much better than anything on AM :) -STEERING WHEEL The wheel is in great shape with no major defects or cracking! -GAUGES All the gauges work! RPM, speedo, boost, fuel and temp all read loud and clear! The Experience: This Corvair is a dream to drive. It is tight, very comfortable, very quick, nimble and smooth. It has all the power it had from the factory and then some, and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. It is so easy to fall in love with this Spyder. Two latches and a button and the top is down. One twist of the key and she is whistling away behind you! Rowing the gears of this Corvair with the wind in your hair and the 150hp turbo engine rocketing you along is one of the best experiences for early 60's American motoring. There were so few cars like the Corvair and certainly no true peers in the American market. I find myself in odd cars all of the time, from the hyper expensive and rare, to the quirky, to the mundane. This Corvair seemingly always gets more thumbs up and questions then any other car. In a short drive just to photo it the other day I think I was stopped/waved at a half dozen times. There is something about a Corvair! And that feeling is even greater as a driver then an onlooker. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this car is an wonderful and beautiful Corvair Spyder. This really is a very special car to drive and with the ongoing care within the collection, it is a worry free Corvair, ready to be enjoyed for the second half of summer and fall! Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new car as soon as possible. My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Corvair (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 50+ year old car, but however is WELL above average for it's year/miles. This is very nice condition for a Corvair of this year, but please just remember that no 50 year old car is perfect. It is though a great Corvair! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out BEFORE bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech. Please feel free to ask any and all questions!! "Corvair: You can't imagine how joyous a compact car can be!"
