Premium Body off restoration with a full photo album of details In 1938, the Chrysler Imperial was based on the new Chrysler Royal. The Imperial had a special engine and longer wheelbase, with various panels stretched to fit; a variety of custom coaches were available on these expensive, high-end cars, all of which had chrome chevrons on the fenders, and model names in script on the hubcaps and above the grille. A series of Custom Imperials, essentially stretched versions of the Imperial, were made in both five and seven passenger forms, in some cases farmed out to custom coach makers. Chrysler’s slogan was “You get the good things first from Chrysler” and in many cases it was true, as the company was well ahead in innovation at this time. The 1938 Imperial was a thrilling motorcar if there ever was one. Powered with a new bigger engine than previously found in other cars, The straight-eight engine used a conventional L-head, and displaced a modest 299 cubic inches, with a standard 6.2:1 compression ratio putting down a beastly 110 HP, the highest found in their motorcars at that time. This car was engineered to take any road in stride. With the advantage of a 125 inch wheelbase, and an “Airflow” principle of balanced weight, independently sprung front wheels and Hydraulic shock absorbers, this Chrysler rode like a dream, and ours RIDES like a dream…. This takes us back to 1996, where two brothers, happened across one nice and complete 1938 Chrysler Imperial Touring sedan. It was packed in a yard, mixed in with some other classics. It was in nice shape, retained all of the original hard to find parts, and was virtually rust free. So after some small talk and a negotiation or two later, the big Sedan was loaded on a trailer, waiting its rebirth. So the long haul started and the 38 was taken back to the shop, where it was completely dismantled down to the frame. The driveline was pulled and the frame and body were prepared for blasting, and paint. The engine was disassembled, rebuilt, and repainted. Meticulous care went into making sure everything was in order, even the lines and wiring in the engine bay was sorted through. All the engine accessories were also repainted to correctly match. Months later, the engine was finally re united with the now bead blasted and painted frame and suspension components, and the beautifully refinished Body adorned with Jet Black paint. Several more months of interior work was completed, including refinished seats and interior components, such as the carpet, door handles, dash knobs, and bright metalwork. The restoration was a lengthy one and the car was rolled out in August of 1997 and driven under it own power in years. All in all, the meticulous restoration performed on this Gorgeous 1938 Chrysler Imperial, illustrates two brothers dedication to making this car worthy of its place in history. He has the mind of an engineer and heart of a true blue classic car lover. In the years that he has owned the car, he did a very long list (see list in pictures) of repairs and upgrades to make this one of the most trusted road worthy early 60's classic cars seen on the road today! It has all the right equipment that most of us hope to find in a classic car but usually can not. These features include factory Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, power windows and power seats. The Imperials were the flagship of the Chrysler brand in '61 so it had all the latest and greatest technology that was offered at the time. The car is in remarkable condition as it was restored about 10 years ago by the family who had owned the car since new. It was already in very nice condition when the current owner received it and then completely gone through once again. Words from the owner of the car: Purchased in Sioux City Iowa. When they looked at it and saw the lights, chrome, the fins, the color, the interior condition and the original condition, we bought the car with one thing in mind...to take this old beauty on a road trip through the USA. We started our tour in Florida and drove through Mississippi and collected a first place trophy at a car show there then up to Route 66, crossed the Rocky Mountains through Yosemite pass at 10,000 feet and then on to Sacramento, CA and back to sea level along the Pacific Coast Highway. We started east from Oregon along Route 2 and then near the Canadian Border, through Montana, Wyoming, Mount Rushmore and continued to float all the way back to Florida...8,800+ plus miles. The car is serviced and ready for the next long haul! We really enjoyed our time with this couple. When they came into buy a low mileage classic Caddy Eldorado convertible they drove here in this classic imperial. While they were out test driving the Caddy we all of us who work here swarmed the parking lot where the car was parked. We have never seen a early 60's imperial and were blown away by the design and all the intricate details the car has. What a beauty! The current owner is a retired mechanic with 65 years experience who absolutely loves this car. He is the perfect type of owner to buy from. His reason for selling is he now wants to go on tour again in a classic convertible. This Imperial is ready to go for the next owner to enjoy without having to lift a finger! With the copy of the bill of sale and the title most states give credit for sales tax collected in Florida. Please check with your state DMV to see if your state reciprocates sales tax with Florida Dept of revenue. We will be generating all paperwork required for ownership transfer. We send the vehicle title after payment recieved and Florida DMV paperwork is signed. Florida DMV allows 30 days to deliver title. We send the title via express mail. We also help arrange or provide assistance with shipping. Vehicles are available for pick up during normal working hours. We charge a fee of $295 fee on every sale and no other dealer fees. This includes every sale or auction, even one that you have already won but did not see these terms in advance. This auction is a legally binding contract to buy this vehicle. All vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise specified. I have done my best to accurately describe this vehicle. It is up to the buyer to come see and further inspect the car before the end of the auction.-->

. This 1953 Chrysler Imperial Custom C58 with COLD FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING is absolutely beautiful, runs and drives almost like a new car, and is loaded with options and fully operational! The Custom was the top of the line 6 Passenger Imperial, and it was Luxurious indeed, a worthy competitor to Cadillac, Packard and Lincoln! 331 Hemi V-8 Power, Air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, Solex heat-resistant glass and 15 Jewel Moparmatic steering wheel clock by Benrus! . Air Conditioning was a very new feature for Chrysler , having just been introduced in 1953. Almost every part of the Imperial design was different from the standard Chrysler, there are many, many differences that make this car special including the grille, side trim, fenders, and much more. It is a subtle and tasteful design, and in person the high quality of the restoration shines through, I can't emphasize enough how well this car was restored. . An imposing view! All the better because the chrome and trim looks like new! This car was restored in the 1990's and still looks fresh today! Here's a video showing the Imperial in Operation! . . I spoke with one of the former owners about the car's history. He told me it came from Phoenix, Arizona originally, and stayed in the Phoenix area until early in the new century. It was always a nicely preserved, well cared for car, which had significant restoration work done in the 1990's, including paint, chrome, and some of the interior. The car was too nice to need a total restoration! The 53,900 miles showing are thought to be original, as are the doorpanels. . Black shows everything, and this car wears it's black suit with pride, look how straight the bodywork is, and how deep and reflective the paint is! . Absolutely stunning - better in person than in the photos if you ask me - and extremely rare. . Jade Green Interior is gorgeous! Note the horn center mounted Mopar-matic Clock! . Gorgeous! . Rich wool and leather patterned doorpanels, with lovely woodgrain accent. Note the power window switch. . The lap of luxury in 1953 ! . Beautiful! . Here in the back shelf are the Air Conditioning Vents. . Fold-down armrests front and back! . CHRYSLER FIRE POWER! Hemi power in all it's 331 cubic inch V-8 glory! That engine is both powerful and smooth! And the 2 cylinder A/C Compressor is mighty impressive too! . Excellent engine bay. . The power steering pump is mounted to the back of the generator. Note how clean and nicely maintained it is, with fresh looking hoses, fan belts and the like. . This engine runs beautifully! The transmission works great too, it's a later Chrysler Torqueflite 3 speed automatic, upgraded recently. . Beautiful wheels and Goodyear wide whitewalls! . Extremely high quality restoration work over a dry Arizona car with the extremely rare Factory Air Conditioning! To paraphrase the song "Love Shack" by the B-52's: "I've got me a Chrysler it's as big as a whale, and I've put it up for sale. I've got me a Chrysler, in luxury it seats plenty So hurry up and gather your purchase money." All this car is missing is Kato and the Green Hornet. All right, in all fairness, they drove a 1965 Imperial sedan in the movie, and a 1966 Imperial in the television series but when you look at that mean front end, it looks more "Hornet" than the grille on the '65 or '66. Here is one of the biggest modern land yachts ever built by an American auto manufacturer, at a skosh under 19 feet in length, 6 2/3 feet in width, and 4 3/4 feet in height, this 5,357 pound behemoth is the absolute perfect warm weather cruiser. There is an old adage, that you ride in a Cadillac, you glide in a Lincoln, but you float in an Imperial. A full frame and body design, the 1964 Imperial was the perfection of one man's dream. In 1959, Elwood P. Engel was the special projects stylist for the Ford Motor Company, and Eugene Bordinat was the Ford division's Chief Stylist. Both worked under Ford Motor Company's Chief Stylist (Ford/Lincoln/Mercury) George W. Walker. Both Engel and Bordinat had come up with designs for the 1961 Ford Thunderbird which they presented to Ford President, Robert McNamara, who looked at both designs and chose Bordinat's. He then looked at Engle and told him "stretch it, add two more doors to it, and change the tail lights to those we used on the 56-57 Continental Mark II. You just saved me from discontinuing the Lincoln brand." Engel asked how he was supposed to add two rear doors to a car with no "A Pillar", to which McNamara replied. "Hang 'em backwards". The result was the legendary 1961 Lincoln Continental, and while this car will forever be associated with Engel, he detested that he was not permitted to redesign the car in the manner he sought fit, and had to cut corners in order to add two more doors. In 1961, George Walker retired and Eugene Bordinant was promoted over Engel as Chief Stylist for Ford Motor Company. The same year, Virgil Exner retired as Chief Stylist for Chrysler Corporation, who promptly hired Engel away from Ford. His first project was to correct the errors of the 1961 Continental, and to show the brass at Ford what the Continental could have been if they had given him the time and resources to correct his initial design. The result: The Incomparable 1964 Imperial. Show anyone a 64-66 Imperial and the first thing most will ask you. "Is that a Lincoln"? Engel used the same primary design he used for the Lincoln, with slab sides and graceful curves at the body lines, but on the Imperial, he angled them to give the car a rakish look of motion. Then he put on what would be his ultimate use of chrome. The rear bumper and tail lights and a huge chrome Imperial Eagle over the gas filler pipe cover. Up front, he redesigned the Lincoln's grille into two angled sections, and off set the low/high beam headlamps housings to produce what would become known as "The Floating Continental Grille", which appeared only on the '64. Unlike the Lincoln or Cadillac of its day, this was no uni-body car, but a separate frame and chassis. The frames on these cars are so strong, they are banned from participating in smash up derby contests. This particular car was built at Detroit's Jefferson Avenue Assembly Plant on January 2, 1964 and is number 160 of 922 1964 Crown Imperial Convertibles. The car was originally purchased in San Leandro, CA in 1964, and was sold to its second owner in the same city in March 1975. In October 2001, the son of the second owner (executor of his late father's estate) registered it in his name and moved the car to Novato, CA. I purchased it in October 2007 and moved it to Michigan. My original goal was to restore it and a good part of that work has been done. As the photographs show, the entire interior has been redone in a classic black and white two tone, and new carpet installed. The lines are laser straight and the car painted a high gloss black. The hood and deck lid need to be repainted and the entire car color sanded and polished. There is presently no top. The original top was white. When I bought the car, it had a black top, which I removed. My plan was to install a heavy canvas white top with black piping to match the interior. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed as well as the front grill and headlamp housings, eyebrow moldings, and body line moldings. All the stainless has been meticulously worked on to eliminate all pits and dents, and has been polished to look like new. Mechanically, the 413 Wedge Head V8 (Second to last year for this engine) purrs. The top half of the engine was restored by the former owner, but it still requires the use of a lead fuel additive every three tanks. The push button (last year for these) transmission shifts smoothly. The ride is smooth and plush, though she could use new tires. There is an aftermarket A/C system which is not presently working, but the parts are all there. The original radiator and belt driven fan were removed and replaced with an aluminium radiator and electric fan, which activates either by temperature or through a manual on/off switch under the driver's side dash. The front dash pad was split and warped, so a new one was made and installed. I had the steering wheel restored but the wrong hub was put back on it so it won't fit the steering column. All you need to do is find a hub that fits and switch them out. I have just about all the parts necessary to finish the restoring this beauty but due to health issues, I've run out of time. This car is truly an American classic and I want her to go to someone who will finish what I started, and restore her to her original 1964 glory. She has been constantly stored in a facility with infrared heating that keeps the air at a dry 50 degrees in the winter. She also comes complete with a black cotton lined satin cover and carrying bag. Feel free to contact my agent "GREG" at 248-766-2403 with any questions, or to arrange a viewing of this vehicle, or you may contact me with any questions through Ebay. I am not presently carrying liability and collision insurance on her, so any test drive will be limited to the vicinity of where the vehicle is stored. Terms: $500 deposit due via PayPal within 24 hours of the purchase of vehicle. Balance due in full via bank wire within 72 hours of purchase. The term "purchase" is defined as one of the following events taking place: 1.) Buyer clicking "BUY IT NOW" on listing site. 2.) Upon receipt of full payment, I will FEDEX you the executed title. In the event the full balance of the purchase price, less the $500 deposit, is not received within the 72 hours of Buyer's "purchase" of this item, Seller reserves and retains the right to declare the Buyer to have defaulted on the terms of this listing and to terminate such sale and relist the vehicle for sale to another party. The $500 deposit will be retained by Seller as "liquidated damages" and Seller will owe no duty to Buyer or any other purchaser to apply such funds to the final purchase price of this vehicle, or to refund such sum to the defaulting Buyer. *RELISTED DO TO NON PAYING BIDDER. REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED* Up for sale is my 1957 Imperial Crown Coupe. One of 4199 built. This car is a project needing full restoration. It's Regimental Red (code R) with a Charcol Grey Roof (K). Dark and light grey leather interior (code #83) Very striking and unusual color combination. This exact color combo is shown in all the Imperial brochures on the base model coupe. (see last photo showing brochure). Equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, radio w/ foot control, heater, Flyte Sweep trunk lid. This car spent all it's life in Southern California. Black plate car (plates have been on the car since 1963), last registered and on the road in 1980. 99% complete, needs air cleaner, hubcaps, the 4 gold fender crowns, and 1 inside windshield eagle emblem (which is reproduced). These cars were very rust prone and this one is quite solid. Majority of (remaining) paint on the car is original. Floors are perfect, you couldn't ask for nicer. So is the undercarriage, not heavily rusted or corroded (like you see out here in the Midwest). Way better than most. It needs a small patch on driver side rocker, (see photo 5), very easy fix. On the passenger side where it is dented there is rust out. An area about 30 in long and 2 to 2 1/2 wide. It's not bad, an entire quality reproduction extended rocker (72 in) is $80, so this will be a straightforward fix. It appears to me water got trapped in this area and that is what caused the rust. Rest of rocker is solid. The dent will come out, to me it looks like it was just popped in. This car spent time in junkyard and I think something was bumped or backed into it there. The car has damage on the passenger side rear bumper area, it looks like this can be worked out also, but if wanted I am including a section from another car to repair it, should you want to just cut it out. . Also will include entire remains of that car if wanted And another rear bumper (see parts list below for more info). Driver's side door dented as you can see, this will pull out but I know where you can get a straight solid door (see below), might be easier to bolt on another. The trim on this door will straighten out. Some old body work done on upper driver side quarter. Yes this car has the 392 cu. in. HEMI which is complete, I don't have the build sheet but see no reason not to think this is the original HEMI to the car. I think it has a spun run bearing so it will need to be rebuilt. I can't get it to turn over. That's the most common issue with these when they won't turn and aren't stuck due to rust.. Pulled the heads off, one cylinder wall has some light surface rust, rest are pristine (I do have photos showing the motor with the heads off). I have reassembled the motor but figure on tear down and rebuild, car deserves it anyway. Only thing I didn't try to was to see if trans was locking up motor. Or perhaps I just didn't try hard enough to free motor and tat one cylinder is stuck? It has been sitting a long long time. Motor is complete, carb is out so that is why it is off in certain photos, a better carb will be reinstalled. 66k is what's on the odometer, don't know if original, it could be based on looking at cylinder walls. I doubt this car has run since 1980. The interior is of course dry rotted and will need to be completely redone. But everything is there, nothing missing or broken. And no rust out! The front seat on the passenger side will need some work on the springs as it sits low. The driver's side armrest is there, just wasn't installed in the photos. Car even has both very rare sill plates which are really nice. The plastic door panel inserts are perfect (those are $800 a pair reproduction). The passenger side door and quarter glass go up and down. Couldn't get driver door and quarter window to move. Seat motor runs but doesn't move. The headlight switch appears to be good, headlights, parking light, and tail lights work. Antenna and horns do not. Glove box and lower part of dash in good shape, dash pad needs to be redone, steering wheel pretty cracked, will need to be recast. The access panel for the steering gear has surface rust (very common) but no rust out. There is a Southern California AAA sticker on the windshield and one for the "Quail Valley Country Club" There is scattering of papers and stuff I found when cleaning out the car, including the last registered owner's name & address, (appears to have been an elderly couple). All glass on the car is in excellent to like new condition. Car even has it's original bumper jack and the wood block, all in great shape. Most chrome needs replating but excellent cores, no junk. Stainless is nice, vast majority just needs polishing. This is California trim not the stuff you see back east....... Flyte Sweep trunk insert is in good shape, needs replating but usually these are shot. No rust in trunk, about 90% of factory undercoating is present Will come with a clear California title. I am selling this car because there is a convertible I would like to purchase. As much as I want to keep and restore this one, I have many cars, and I am short on time, space & money. I want to see this car go to good home, to someone who will do a full restoration on it to factory specs. I regret having to let it go, will not see another one like this. One of the photos is of the paint behind the data plate (where there is no wear) so you can see what a stunning color this is. I will sell to overseas buyers and may be able to help you out finding a shipper. I have several contacts for continental US shipping. Please feel free to call me to discuss. Garrett: 847-707-8312 Or e-mail me. Here's a link to a slideshow with more photos: http://ivyhillhomes.com/1957_Imperial.html With the car I will include following additional or rebuilt parts: nice hood emblem, very nice pair of headlight buckets, bezels, and eyebrow trim passenger hood hinge (passenger side is bad)passenger side quarter stainless,1 door stainless1 trunk stainless (piece that wraps around)driver's side interior door handledriver's side exhaust manifold (one on car has broken studs)1 good tail light assembly (will be installed in place of one on car) extra interior roof chrome piecesnicer dome light assembly (already installed)extra exterior rear window stainlessremains of another 2dr coupe which has upper quarters both sides, the whole trunk lip area, etc. Whole car can be picked up (car is in Bakersfield, CA) or cut off parts. FYI It will be 1-2 months before this car can be picked up or parts cut off nice rear bumper carburetornew fuel pumpnew belts & hosesnew voltage regulatornew thermostatnew coil & coil bracket I have many other parts for these cars and can work out a deal for other things, I also have access to a straight rust free driver's side door than can be worked into the deal. One photo shows motor when I got car, before it was cleaned. Carb is off, been replaced by better one. $2000 Deposit, via PayPal within 3 days of auction end. NO EXCEPTIONS Balance due within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made. Cash, cashier's check, or wire transfer. Contact me for other payment terms. This needs to be picked up sooner than later.

The styling has aged well and those polarizing looks are now one of the Imperial's biggest selling points! The first thing everyone notices on this Imperial is the headlights. Ostensibly designed to resemble the lights on the grand Classics of the 1930s, they're tucked into the front fenders to blend the old look with space-age sleekness. The second thing you'll notice is the color, which is a stunning burgundy metallic that still looks good even after nearly 20 years. There's no arguing that this car is going to generate attention no matter where you go. The look is pure 1960s cool, with that dramatic grille and the sweeping side trim, and again, out back you get a touch of the past with those taillights perched up top. There's plenty of chrome, don't worry about that, and it's in good overall condition with a clean look that makes the car look complete. The jewelry sparkles. Inside you'll find one of Chrysler's finest designs, with perhaps the most fantastic dashboard ever created. Asymmetrical seat backs for the driver and passenger offer a cool twist on the bucket seat theme and they're covered in handsome burgundy leather that is quite likely original. Plush carpets feel expensive under your feet and those door panels are beautifully crafted. But the real star of this show is the instrument panel, which is framed by an awesome squared-off steering wheel and a pair of vertical pods that almost look like tailfins. The pushbutton TorqueFlite controls are on the left while the ventilation controls are on the right. Double-decker gauges put everything right in front of the driver and you'll have to really concentrate on the road, because watching the speedometer in action is fascinating. You'll note that this car carries power windows, which are always useful on a convertible, as well as an AM radio in the center of the dash (yes, it works!). The white power convertible top is slightly older and uses a plastic rear window, but given this car's top-down look, you'll only be using it for emergencies anyway. And there's a giant trunk in back, fully carpeted and outfitted with a full-sized spare with jack assembly. Chrysler's big 413 cubic inch V8 makes effortless torque and moves the big ragtop with ease. It is quite neatly finished under the hood, with corporate turquoise paint on the block itself, a correct air cleaner, and body-colored inner fenders. A newer polished alternator is a good idea for reliability's sake and the giant radiator ensures that the big V8 never gets too hot. Power steering and brakes are probably mandatory in a land yacht like this and the fresh dual exhaust system has a muted hum that sounds suitably powerful and refined. The TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the original rear end has highway gears in it so this is the ideal car for a long road trip. The original wheels are gone, replaced by a set of flashy Kelsey Hayes style wire wheels and wrapped in modern whitewall radials. This car has obviously been loved and with top examples closing in on the six-figure mark, it might also be considered a smart investment. Not perfect, but offering top-shelf motoring that rivals anything else you could buy in 1962. Excellent two tone West Point Gray and Cloud White exterior paint Stunning interior restoration from sourced NOS materials. California car since new, sold originally in San Luis Obispo. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this very special 1956 Chrysler Imperial from “Imperial America”, the third series of concept cars developed by world-renowned artist Lewis deSoto. The Chrysler Imperial was on display at the The Fields Sculpture Park in Ghent, New York and the Napa Valley Museum in 2011, as well as gracing the pages of The New York Times! Lewis DeSoto has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States as well as in England, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. Known for public projects and sculptural installations that often incorporate sound, video and theatrical lighting, DeSoto brings to his work a strong interest in archaeology, anthropology, sociology, and world religions. Mr. deSoto’s is customized 1956 Chrysler Imperial, illuminates the Chrysler Corporation’s little-known role in the Cold War military-industrial complex, the pinnacle of this design concept is the roof mounted 10.5-foot scale model of a CC-56 Redstone ballistic missile. Mr. deSoto is equally at home in the worlds of automobilia and conceptual art, and as a group, his concept-cars oscillate somewhere between the two. In a way, “Imperial America,” like the CC-56 Redstone, is simply a surface-to-surface warhead delivery vehicle. Mr. deSoto describes it in more poetic terms. “The Imperial,” he said, “is in a sense the foam on the wave that’s crashing down on you. This glittering thing that’s so attractive and beautiful — and at the same time, extremely dangerous. Lewis deSoto’s “Imperial America” project started seven years ago when he purchased this Chrysler from the third owner. Mr. deSoto looked at many Imperials before buying this one for his project because it was very straight and tight with none of the rattles that plague the 4-door Imperial hardtops. The Imperial was originally sold on September 1956 at Stanley Cole Chrysler in San Luis Obispo, California and we still retain the original service certificate from the dealer. For the exterior paint Lewis deSoto wanted “Something militaristic”. He decided on a two-toned combination of correct West Point Gray and Cloud White. Lewis invested in a very high quality exterior respray because the Imperial had to look amazing under the gallery lights and the new paint scheme really helped streamline the long side profile of the Chrysler. All the exterior brightwork is straight and clean and the front bumper still retains a March Air Force Base Department of Defense access sticker as a previous owner worked for the Strategic Air Command! Chrome spans nearly every inch of the car, turning the entire object into a two ton mirror. In fact, there is so much chrome and so many decorative accoutrements on the car that it is easy to ignore the replica of a Redstone nuclear warhead sitting atop of it. To finish off the exterior of this exquisite Imperial, deSoto added Kelsey Chrome Wire Wheels with the Department of Defense seal on each centerpiece cap. Wheels are wrapped with 235/75/15 BF Goodrich Silvertown Wide White tires. The eternal beauty of this Chrysler comes at great expense and intense commitment from deSoto. The seats, headliner, doors and floors all have been done in correct NOS material after his persistent work sourcing all the right materials. The interior blue and gray scheme looks excellent and the upholstery glitters thanks to the tinsel gold and silver threads. All accessories, including power windows, seats, antenna and gauges work, though the clock is intermittent and runs on a switch installed to preserve the battery. The car is fully functional including many of its electrically-assisted luxury touches like power seats and windows. The trunk retains original carpet and side panels and all decals have been replaced or reproduced. Inside the trunk located on the metal filler neck, deSoto titled and signed the car marked 2008. The replica 10.5 foot rocket is mounted to the Imperial by a custom steel pipe rack that is connected to the roof by four industrial suction cups. The mounted rocket appears to be sturdy and should be fine for low speed driving and parades. Included with Chrysler is a custom wood storage box to safely store away the rocket and rack. Under the hood is the strong running factory 354ci Hemi Firepower V8 engine with a Edelbrock 4-Barrel carburetor mounted on top. To improve reliability, a high torque starter has been added along with a reproduction correct Mopar battery. The push-button TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. DeSoto has stated that the brakes have been recently rebuilt and new suspension kingpins and tie rod ends were added. The power steering was also upgraded as well with all new pressure hoses. The original 4-barrel carburetor and air cleaner are also included. With the impeccable care and ownership from deSoto, this Imperial really drives like a modern car! This Chrysler Imperial is one of the most unique cars we have had in our world famous eclectic showroom in a long time. This classic car separates itself from the previous “Art Cars” that we have sold in the past because the artist Lewis deSoto is actually a die-hard auto enthusiast who achieved the reality of his vision with his own hands. DeSoto did not contract out the restoration work on this car, but he himself has personally detailed and restored much of the car and he knows every inch of the Imperial, no small details were overlooked!. The VIN is C5610329, the mileage currently shows 22,660 and the rocket is currently untested. It is being sold on a clean and clear California title. Car come with some original parts including hubcaps, air cleaner, carburetor, plug wires, extra interior fabric, radiator fan, and starter. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Rare 1964 Chrysler Imperial Crown 61k original miles, 413 V8. Options include power seats, power windows. am/fm radio with rear speaker, pushbutton automatic transmission, factory rustproofing and passenger side mirror. As the link below explains, the value of the '64 Imperials is steadily increasing. The mid 60's Imperial models are particularly desirable; the engines have higher compression and increased horsepower, lots of chrome accents and bumpers that follow the trim and contours of the body; unlike the more sedate, less stylish look of the later 60's Imperial models. http://www.imperialclub.com/Articles/64Features/index.htmMechanical: The Imperial has always been regularly maintained, everything feels just as it should; from the huge doors that close easily, the precise pushbutton shifter transmission controller, the easy acceleration to the firm brake pedal. She's powerful, smooth and quiet, just a pleasure on the highway cruising along at 75. If you've had a 60's full size Mopar you know how they can begin feeling "loose" and rattle-y if not properly maintained. This is true particularly for the front end, which was entirely rebuilt about ten years ago, it is nice and tight, no wandering. Over the last few years she got a new radiator, new brakes, new alternator, new fuel pump, new 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor, new starter, new engine mounts, and new valve covers and gaskets. The entire engine was pulled when the car was painted to finish the engine compartment. When that was done all the external gaskets were replaced. I bought the Chrysler from the son of the original owner. I also have the velvet finish owner's manual and other paperwork that came with the car when purchased. My mechanic told me he believes it's the original mileage considering the overall mechanical and cosmetic condition. I've had a few of these Imperials, this is the first one that had the pushbutton transmission operate like it should, it's a pleasure. All the body panels line up perfectly and the doors, hood and trunk open and close easily.Cosmetic: The Imperial was painted about 5 years ago, it's got a nice deep shine, no bodywork necessary anywhere. Interior was entirely redone by an upholstery shop that specializes in classics; all original patterns and materials were used. Everything was done; leather, vinyl, carpet, armrests, door panels, visors, headliner, etc. The leather seats look amazing, they're supple and comfortable. The door panels and rear panels are gorgeous, complete with the pop up door armrests for storage. The chrome bumpers and brightwork are in great shape, no dents, scratches, pitting or fading, they shine brilliantly. The factory rustproofing they gave these cars was very effective, the body is solid throughout as you can see from the pix of the trunk floor. When you look at, get into and drive this car it's clear that's she's always been treated with love and has spent her life as a "Garage Queen". She's roadworthy, all directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work. Engine always starts easily, even after sitting for a month or two. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly, 413 V8 moves this big girl easily up the highway with LOTS of power. The Chrysler tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, idles perfectly and the suspension is luxurious. She is almost spotless underneath; floors and trunk completely solid, body never patched. No leaks, garage floor always dry when I take her out. Overall, it drives like an American classic luxury car should. I'm also considering selling my 62 Cadillac Convertible, new paint, top and interior. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Imperial is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. If you need it I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used many times in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. Classic Rare Mopar which will only appreciate in value! Any questions feel free to call or email. 914-224-3230

this is a barn find Chrysler imperial. it has 50,000 original miles on it, the hemi engine runs great and the trans is good, the brakes were rebuilt but from sitting might need some work. the tires are shot, there is some rust on the rear qtr panel bottoms and lower front fenders, the rockers don't seem too bad, the floors are surprisingly solid as are the trunk, the frame is nice as is the front suspension and torsion bar area, it does have two holes in both corners of the trunk towards the rear, it even has the original clear seat covers on the seats still. it needs carpet, headliner is good, it really needs a total restore but its well worth saving. the engine compartment is really clean! all the glass is nice except it needs a right rear glass, its broken. everything seems to still work on the car, its got power windows, seat, brakes, steering, antenna, these were just really cool cars, I would keep it but I have so many cars right now I want to sell it before winter hits hard. its got the original paint on it, I touched up some surface rust spots on it so it wouldn't get worse, the chrome is decent, this would need some t.l.c. but you could make a driver out of it or totally restore it. it has a lot to offer, and its all original, engine and trans and rear end. please call me with any questions at 586-944-8615. I have the car for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end auction early. the car is sold in as condition, no warrenty. thanks for looking.
