This rare and lovely Cadillac is the pinnacle of bold American art deco design. The stylized chrome grill, hood ornament, and interior accoutrement harkens back to a bygone era. This Fleetwood bodied convertible was 1 of only 27 built in 1939, with only 5 surviving today. Its original sales price of $3500 ensured exclusivity. This particular car was featured in the factory’s Fleetwood brochure, with its striking combination of Kingston gray over green leather. The daunting 141” wheelbase was shared with the V-16 models of that year. It has a 140 bhp, 346 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, three-speed synchromesh manual transmission and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Our car was originally delivered by the factory to Seattle, WA. It was later discovered in 1990, after spending 30 years in a Vancouver auto museum. The car underwent a painstaking 3-year nut and bolt restoration by the immediate prior owner to factory specifications. Its then owner was the co-author of the authenticity manual on this model, as well as technical advisor to the CCCA and Cadillac LaSalle club on these magnificent cars. He has done many show winning restorations. Upon completion, it was a regular feature at major Concours, including Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, Meadowbrook, and the Cadillac LaSalle Club’s Grand Nationals, where it garnered Pre-War Best in Show. It has been the subject of countless magazine and calendar photos as well. The car was subsequently toured by the former owner, completing a trip across the Canadian Rockies as well as Europe. The car entered into our fortunate stewardship in 2009 in fabulous condition. Extensive cosmetic and mechanical refreshening was nonetheless performed of all systems to ensure that the car remained 100% authentic, completely reliable and Concours worthy for many years to come. The body is very solid. The floorboards have been repaired and small rust spot in trunk has been repaired. There is a small chip in the paint under the passenger door. All trim pieces are in good shape. The bumpers are solid but to make show worthy they need to be re-chromed.%26amp;nbsp;INTERIOR:New carpet was installed aprox. 6 years ago, blue. Front and rear seats were re-upholstered in 2012 in blue vinyl and micro-fiber material, looks very nice. The dash pad has no cracks.MECHANICAL:%26amp;nbsp;Automatic transmission shifts properly. I have a very small transmission fluid leak but not enough to mess with in my opinion.%26amp;nbsp;Convertible top goes up and down properly, new motors have been installed. The top itself has shrunk, but I have new top in box that I will include with sale. Top is white.%26amp;nbsp;Power windows operate from master as well as from each door. The rear windows need some assistance going up.Air Conditioning and Heating works, but only on full blast. The climate control system does not work.%26amp;nbsp;Radio does not work.
