THE GENTLEMAN I GOT THE CAR FROM SAID IT HAD BEEN IN THE FAMILY SINCE THE EARLY 1950'S WHEN HIS BROTHER OWNED IT AND THEN IT HAD A CADILLAC MOTOR IN IT WITH A LASALLE TRANSMISSION. HE GOT THE CAR FROM HIS BROTHER IN 1957 AND STARTED OUT AS JUST A DAILY WORK DRIVER. IN THE 1960'S HE PUT IN A 1957 CHEVY 283 WITH A 3-SPEED TRANSMISSION AND DROVE THAT WAY MANY YEARS. IN EARLY 1970's HE TOOK OUT THE 3-SPEED AND PUT IN A POWERGLIDE AUTOMATIC OUT OF A 1968 CHEVELLE. HE STARTED TO FIX IT UP AS A MILD STREET ROD HAVING THE CAR REPAINTED IN THE 1980's AND HAVING THE INTERIOR REDONE IN A GREY CLOTH MATERIAL AND ADDING A SET OF VW BUG BUCKET SEATS. STILL HAS ORIGINAL DASH AND STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING WHEEL. UNDERNEATH IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSIONS AND WAS CONVERTED TO A OPEN DRIVESHAFT WHEN HE PUT THE POWERGLIDE IN IT. WHEN I GOT THE CAR IT HAD NO BRAKES SO I BOUGHT ALL NEW WHEEL CYLINDERS AND SHOES AT EARLY FORD STORE AND HAD TO REPLACE A BAD RUBBER BRAKE LINE. BRAKES ARE OK BUT NOT WAY I WANT THEM TO BE SO MIGHT BE MASTER CYLINDER. HAS 15 INCH STEEL RIMS WITH NICE TIRES AND NOW HAS A 3 BAR SPINNER HUB CAPS INSTEAD OF THE 1967 FORD CAPS IN PICTURE. MOTOR IS ALL STOCK WITH A 2-BBL CARB AND EARLY CORVETTE VALVE COVERS. HAS A 12 VOLT CHARGING SYSTEM AND ALL WIRING IN IN GOOD SHAPE. YOU HIT THE KEY AND IT FIRES RIGHT UP.. BODY AND ALL TRIM IS NICE INCLUDING GRILL AND BUMPERS, GLASS AND PAINT. 1939 WAS LAST YEAR FOR THE CRANK OUT WINSHIELD WHICH IS PRETTY COOL. BODYWORK/TRIM Bolted together at GM's storied St. Louis manufacturing facility, and delivered to Bob Gabriel Chevrolet of Cortez, Colorado, this slick C2 is the kind of classic that you can look at and virtually sense top-notch caretaking. In early 2013, the car was completely restored to better-than-factory standards by a very passionate enthusiast. That ground-up reboot began with solid, original fiberglass being lovingly sanded and gratuitously sprayed with a correct coat of GM code 976 Nassau Blue 2-stage. With that pigment applied, the car's doors and lids were carefully adjusted to ensure excellent fit and finish. And vibrant factory trim was applied under a fresh white top to ardently accentuate Bill Mitchell's razor-sharp style lines. Officially, this sweet roadster is so well done that it's referenced in Noland Adams' published restoration guide. That being said, the car is neither unnaturally straight nor overtly glossy. And overall, its finished body presents as a vintage Corvette should present well composed without being too perfect to drive. ENGINE During that detailed restoration, this Chevy's original, 427 cubic inch big block was fully rebuilt by the pros at Performance Clinic The Engine Company of Dayton, Ohio. And not only does the big mill carry a correct 3869942 casting number, a correct "IP" suffix stamp and a matching partial VIN, it also creates 508 dyno-proven horsepower! Top dead center, you'll find a polished and decaled air cleaner that, along with bright stainless fluid lines, feeds a correct Holley 4-barrel. Under that 4-barrel, a familiar Winters intake sits on a spotless Chevy Orange block that's fitted with a Comp solid lifter, flat tappet cam. At the sides of that block, a pair of fully restored exhaust manifolds, which ride below a pair of correct oval-port heads, nicely contrast a pair of stamped and painted valve covers. At the back of those valve covers, chrome-capped ignition makes good use of sleeved plug wires. Cooling is provided by a correct radiator, which routes fluid past a correct alternator and factory power steering via reproduction GM hoses and a correct array of clamps. And details like a correct brake booster, a reproduction Delco battery and a Delco-Remy voltage regulator make sure this Sting Ray performs just as good as it looks. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Flip this big block Vette upside down and you'll find a fully restored chassis that's in good shape, and today, looks much as it did when it rolled out of the factory. At the center of that chassis, an original Muncie M21 4-speed, which was professionally rebuilt by Ed Hartnett 4 Speed of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, hangs a correct 3885010 casting number in front of a Muncie (P) 4-speed assembled on April (04) 14th (14) 1966 build stamp. When engaged, that transmission utilizes a date-correct rear end, a posi-traction differential and big, 3.70 gears to deliver the neck snapping launches and potent acceleration Duntov Corvettes are famous for. At the ends of the car, a fully restored double A-arm front and independent rear suspension is completely detailed, from its factory power steering all the way to its transverse rear spring. At the corners of the car, power-assisted disc brakes mix excellent handling with quick stops. Above those mechanicals, clean and exceptionally solid floor tubs, which look factory fresh in every way, are bolted to a straight, Satin Black frame. Exhaust rumbles through 2.5-inch, aluminized pipes to rear-mounted mufflers and polished stainless tips. Power meets the ground through standard steel wheels, which spin a fresh set of 7.75-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewalls around mirrored stainless covers. And everything, from this Corvette's leak-free fuel tank to its Chevy Orange oil pan, is fully sorted and ready to hit the show field. INTERIOR Swing this Sting Ray's light, fiberglass doors and you'll find a sea of correct Bright Blue vinyl. The license plate on this gorgeous Porsche announces ‘Amazn 77’ and it isn’t lying because 1977 was an amazing year in automobile design with the production of the high performance Porsche 930 Turbo. Since its introduction in 1963 (by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany) it underwent continuous development, though the basic concept remained little changed. It has a distinctive design with rear-mounted six cylinder air-cooled engine, 4 speed gear box and independent rear suspension, which was an evolution of the swing axle previously used on the Porsche 356 This vehicle was one of 717 total units manufactured for US production. Since its market launch in 1975 the 911 Turbo (initially named internally as “930”) was the top-of-the-range model in the 911 model line. The 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo was designed to be an ultra-high performance production-model street race vehicle. A Turbo 3.0 liter engine rated at 260 hp helped achieve such design goals for these early Porsche’s are known for their exhilarating acceleration! A concours-restored national award winner, this numbers-matching Poncho is 1 of only 212 1974 Super Duty coupes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. And if you're a Firebird enthusiast who's searching for an exclusive F2 that you can literally purchase and haul straight to the show, it's your chance to become king of the muscle car hill! BODYWORK/TRIM Sold new at Mall Pontiac in Dayton, Ohio, and claiming a mere 15,401 original miles, this restoration-fresh Trans Am is simply spectacular. With a 3-owner body that seems to have been fairly straight when the restoration began, it should come as no surprise that panel gaps are excellent and fit feels rock-solid. By the looks of that body's smooth finish, Super Duty expert Steve Schappaugh probably spent weeks blocking and sanding every one of its panel in hopes of forming a laser-straight showpiece. And once those panels' correct coat of Cameo White two-stage was decorated with standard Trans Am call-outs, he definitely accomplished that goal. Today, with unique visual sizzle that's as classy as it is aggressive, this top notch Super Duty is a highly desirable example of a major milestone in Pontiac history! 1974 was a defining year for the Firebird. Sales were brisk and new 'low speed' crash mandates required that the car either be completely redesigned or jump on the bandwagon of hideous and hastily done nose jobs that were creeping into every automaker's showroom. Instead of bowing to cost, Pontiac assembled a talented engineering staff, which managed to blend both functionality and style into the well-integrated profile you see here. At the front of that profile, a 'black bar' nose hangs a standard screamin' chicken emblem between clean headlights, clear parking lamps, familiar Pontiac grilles and a road-hugging spoiler. At the top of that nose, a screamin' chicken hood centers an "SD-455" branded shaker in front of pristine greenhouse glass that's framed in bright stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, conservative door handles and small sport mirrors reflect traditional fender vents and correct fender flares. And at the back of the car, a subtle spoiler highlights clean taillights, chrome exhaust tips and a second 'black bar' bumper. ENGINE The heart of any muscle car is its engine, and this Poncho's brawny Super Duty moniker is no misnomer. The largely hand-built SD-455, which features significantly reinforced components, shares little more than a displacement number with its more common brethren. And this car's highly detailed mill, balanced, blueprinted and completely rebuilt in June of 2015 by Ken Maisano Race Engines, complements a correct 490132 casting number with a January (A) 09th (09), 1974 (4) casting date, correct "W8" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. At the top of the big engine, traditional Trans Am induction funnels fresh wind into a big Rochester carburetor and correct Pontiac intake. That intake sends a high-octane air/fuel mixture into unique, high-flow cylinder heads that are equipped with familiar, stamped steel valve covers. And those heads utilize a roster of high performance internals to create rocket-like acceleration. That acceleration is sparked by a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Spent gases are handled by fully restored exhaust manifolds, which roar into correct, true-dual tail pipes. And heat from that combustion is controlled by a leak-free radiator, which services fresh hoses via new tower clamps and a familiar plastic shroud. Aesthetically, this Trans Am's first class engine bay is 100% ready for show. The mighty mill displays a slick coat of correct Pontiac Turquoise all the way from its intake to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth layer of GM Satin Black. And niceties such as new decals, new stamps, a Delco battery and a fresh Delco Moraine brake booster can be found in all the right places. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION At the bottom of this slick, second generation Firebird, solid floorpans reflect years of easy living. Behind the mega mill, a correct Borg Warner T10 4-speed hangs a familiar 1304065903 casting number below a correct partial VIN. That transmission, fully rebuilt in April of 2015 by Westminster, California's Westminster Transmission, sends power to a sturdy 10-bolt rear end. Below that stellar drivetrain, a rebuilt Trans Am suspension, which includes correct power steering, thicker sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with standard issue power front disc and rear drum brakes. And at the center of the car, a Gardner true-dual exhaust system barks out a deep, vintage roar. All this road ready hardware rolls on an attractive set of Pontiac Rally IIs, which spin GR70x15 Goodyear Steegard Radials. And everything under this killer classic is restored, clean and ready to roll. INTERIOR When it comes to interior dcor, Pontiac's 70s team was firing on all eight cylinders. While this coupe's insignia may be considered overkill, and its horsepower rating might seem relatively modest compared to earlier muscle cars, there's no disputing the beauty of its design. The rebuilt custom bucket seats are supple, firm, and look every bit as nice and rich as their name implies. Below those seats, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed floor mats. And between those seats, a molded console props an enclosed storage bin behind a chrome Hurst shifter and correct Delco radio. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly between fresh shoulder belts. At the sides of the car, hard to find door panels hang pristine chrome handles between chrome window cranks and full armrests. In front of the driver, a fixed steering column spins a black Formula wheel around an engine-turned instrument panel.
