The goat practically defined the golden age of Detroit, and by the time its first production run was over, it had become the best-selling muscle car of all time. Not surprisingly, demand for these cornerstone classics continues to be strong, and in the first half of 2015 we shipped five awesome GTOs to five very satisfied owners. The beneficiary of a recent rotisserie restoration, this documented, national award-winning hardtop is likely one of the nicest Pontiacs we've ever featured. With a numbers-matching drivetrain, solid, mostly original sheetmetal and a correct triple black color combination, it's the perfect turnkey muscle car for anyone who enjoys cruising fast, wide and loud. And if you're looking for an impressive classic that'll roll straight out of the showroom and right on to the show field, it's your chance to grab a tiger by the tail! BODYWORK/TRIM Fresh out of a no-holds-barred reboot that wrapped up in May of 2014, this super cool A-Body is a perfect blend of good craftsmanship and great attention to detail. Originally sold in Westfield, Massachusetts, the car was discovered by its current owner, a '64 GTO purist, in Waycross, Georgia. After roughly 25 years of enjoyment, that owner initiated a 2-year, rotisserie restoration that fitted the coupe with a fresh pair of quarters and meticulously straightened its profile to better-than-new condition. Once that comprehensive metalwork transitioned from the garage bay to the paint booth, classic '60s panels were re-sprayed in correct Starlight Black PPG. When that paint dried, a correct vinyl roof capped a hearty layer of clear, which had been buffed to a clean, flat shine. And today, officially unleashed as the epitome of old school American style, this goat is one seriously cool head turner that grabs trophies just as easily as it drops jaws. ENGINE Pop the car's sculpted hood and the first thing you'll notice is a 389 cubic inch Trophy V8 that's been completely rebuilt and wrapped in attractive Turquoise skin. Less obvious, of course, is that stalwart mill's correct 9773155 casting number, April (D) 2nd (2), 1964 (4) casting date and 348 horsepower, manual transmission-exclusive "76X" assembly stamp. At the top of the block, a correct Rochester Tri-power setup bridges the gap between polished air cleaners, bright stainless fluid lines and a correct, cast iron intake. That intake rides between correct heads, which hang hardened valve seats and attractive valve covers over a flat-tappet cam and GM NOS pistons. A familiar points distributor jolts spark through pliable plug wires. Cooling is provided by a heavy duty Harrison radiator, which sends water around a correct fan via GM-branded hoses and traditional tower clamps. Charge comes courtesy of a rebuilt GM alternator and reproduction Delco battery. Charred dinosaurs float through a nice pair of restored exhaust manifolds. And aesthetically, the impressive engine is fully detailed, from its correct tags and vivid decals all the way to its yellow carb spring and appropriate grease marks. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Logging few miles since their thorough restoration, this goat's carefully repaired floors and super clean frame are completely free of significant issues and major defects. The stout 389 sends power to a stalwart Muncie transmission, which hangs a correct 3851325 casting number in front of a Muncie (P) assembled on February (02) 26th (26), 1964 build stamp. That proven gearbox spins a tough GM 10-bolt, which twists a posi-trac differential around big, 3.90 gears. At the sides of that rock-solid drivetrain, aluminized, true-dual exhaust pipes connect the aforementioned manifolds with tough turbo mufflers. At the sides of that booming soundtrack, a rebuilt and tagged suspension is complete with factory power steering and power drum brakes. Muscle meets the pavement through 14-inch steelies, which spin 205/75 BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial redlines around deluxe wheel covers. And absolutely everything, from this Poncho's fresh stainless fuel tank to its clean Turquoise oil pan, is fully sorted and ready to be scored! INTERIOR Open this coupe's doors and you'll find a correct GM code 214 Black interior that's simple yet sporty. Front and center, firm bucket and bench seats wrap bright chrome trim around cool, pleated hides. The engine's vitals are displayed by a rebuilt gauge cluster, which integrates an optional tachometer into a correctly padded dash that's complete with engine-turned trim and a correct Delco radio. On the floors, like-new carpet anchors a simple shifter and stylish, chrome-trimmed console between thick, Pontiac-themed floor mats and classy, Fisher-themed sills. At the sides of the car, fresh door panels hang new chrome handles under straight stainless trim and monochromatic Pontiac insignias. In front of the driver, a Custom Sport Steering Wheel spins a faux wood rim around a red, Pontiac-branded horn button. And behind the passengers, a clean trunk sandwiches a correct jack and full-size spare tire between a standard mat and requisite decklid decal. AWARDSGTO Association of America Concours Silver Award (616 out of 700 points) HISTORICAL INFORMATION The accuracy of this impressive Poncho's restoration is certainly affirmed by its Pontiac Historic Services documentation. And today, when you're looking to grab a piece of Detroit's finest iron without closing out your retirement, a numbers-matching GTO is one of the smartest purchases on the market. There's no reason a blue chip classic should cost more than the mortgage on your house. And there's ABSOLUTELY no reason spending your hard earned money should result in a 'rope and red carpet' trailer queen. After all, being a part of GM's rambunctious Pontiac family was never about striking pretty parking lot poses. This fully sorted coupe, equipped with its original, 400 cubic inch V8, original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed and correct Cameo on Parchment color combination, is the kind of car you can enjoy WHILE it appreciates. If you're the kind of gearhead who likes to put their hardware on the field and the street, you're looking at your next classic! To authenticate this Pontiac's status as a real-deal GTO, I'll go ahead and break down both its VIN and cowl tag. VIN: 242379A1XXXXX2 Pontiac Motor Division42 GTO37 2-door hardtop9 1969 model yearA Assembled in Atlanta, Georgia1 Equipped with a V8XXXXX Production sequence number COWL TAG:69 1969 model year2 - 2: Pontiac Motor Division42 - GTO37 - 2-door hardtopATL Assembled at GM's Atlanta, Georgia manufacturing facility508001 Fisher Body production sequence number257 Parchment interior50 Cameo White paintE White Cordova roof11A Assembled during the first week of November 1968 According to this goat's Pontiac Historic Services documentation, it was produced at GM's Atlanta assembly plant and trucked right down the road to Atlanta's own Boomershine Pontiac. Recently, a high quality, professional restoration transformed the car into a straight, road-ready classic that looks great from any angle. And presently, all its moving parts function as well as the day they left the showroom. On top of those parts, correct Cameo White basecoat fuels a subdued and classy demeanor. And a mirror-like clearcoat defines sculpted, muscular lines with excellent, unbroken reflections. By the late '60s, Pontiac had pretty much perfected its revolutionary performance car both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of this coupe, a highly renowned Endura bumper hangs stainless-trimmed grilles and a pristine "G T O" emblem between hidden headlights, a stainless-trimmed valance and clear, stainless-trimmed parking lamps. Behind that bumper, a Ram Air bonnet props small scoops in front of like-new glass, correct, color-keyed vinyl and excellent stainless frames. At the sides of that bonnet, a stainless-trimmed profile hangs classy door handles and a factory-correct mirror between monochromatic fender emblems and small GTO marker lamps. And at the back of that profile, a thick bumper centers simple taillights between a black "G T O" badge and beveled Pypes exhaust tips. Pop this awesome A-Body's hood and you'll find an original, 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 that's branded with a familiar 9790071 casting number, a correct "YS" assembly stamp and a matching partial VIN. Turning stout 10.75 to 1 compression into an even 350 horsepower, this tanked and rebuilt powerhouse utilizes original, open chamber heads, hardened valve seats, a hydraulic cam and a polished crank to provide the legendary Pontiac performance we all know and love. At the top of the storied mill, a chrome-capped, dual-snorkel air cleaner funnels wind into a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Behind that carburetor, a traditional points distributor shoots fire though reliable Delphi Packard plug wires. Below those wires, restored, cast iron exhaust manifolds roar into large, true-dual pipes. And in front of those pipes, a beefy radiator hangs a correct fan shroud between pliable hoses, reproduction tower clamps and a standard issue pulley fan. The hot Pontiac block displays slick Turquoise pigment from its intake all the way to its oil pan. The car's Satin Black engine bay is covered in fresh tags, clean decals and correct inspection marks. And niceties such as chrome valve covers, a correct Frigidaire AC compressor and a new Delco battery topper occupy all the right places. Park this Poncho on a lift and you'll really begin to appreciate the amount of time spent on its body-off restoration. Clean, Satin Black floors, which appear to be original, ride above a straight frame that's held together with new stainless hardware. Traveling up and down those floors is fresh stainless fluid lines that run to either a bright fuel tank or heavy duty brakes. In the middle of the chassis, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed hangs a correct "PX" assembly stamp opposite a matching partial VIN. The car's familiar double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension, which features a correct GTO sway bar and variable-ratio power steering, has been completely restored and freshly marked. Aluminized, mandrel-bent exhaust aligns throaty turbo mufflers with the aforementioned Pypes tips. And, at the corners of the floor, stylish Rally IIs spin vintage G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around red-lettered "PMD" center caps. Take a look inside this GTO's airy cockpit and you'll find a correct Parchment interior that plays perfectly against the car's bright exterior armor. At the front of that cockpit, a straight and crack-free dash hangs a correct Delco radio and bright wood applique below clear factory gauges. In the middle of the floor, a consoled shifter is centered on restored and stainless-trimmed seats that feature new-for-'69 headrests. At the sides of those seats, good looking Parchment door panels hang red-detailed "GTO" emblems among correct stainless trim and fresh chrome hardware. Below those panels, clean carpet contrasts correct, chrome-trimmed foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, a stain-free headliner is stretched tightly from pillar to post. In front of the driver, a stealthy steering wheel spins grained vinyl around a satin-finished arrowhead. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hides a correct mat, new jack and a full-size spare tire beneath a fresh decklid decal. The sale of this striking classic includes restoration receipts, a cam card, a reproduction window sticker and the aforementioned Pontiac Historic Services documents. This pristine coupe is certainly one of the cleanest GTOs we've ever featured. And most diehard Pontiac fans will agree that 1969 was a high-water mark in terms of styling, performance and exclusivity. With a professional restoration and original drivetrain, nothing will interfere with this goat being both a weapon on the street and a winner on the show field. And if you're a dedicated enthusiast who's looking for the perfect opportunity to pick up the ORIGINAL muscle car, nothing can stop you now! This all-steel Ford 5-window! With the universal appeal of high dollar eye candy, and the road going prowess of a late model cruiser, this slick '31 coupe is a professionally built custom that provides its owner the best of both worlds. And what's better: you can have your show stopper and drive it too for a fraction of the money and time it takes to complete a ground-up build. If you're an anxious buyer who's tired of the 'garage furniture' culture that seems to pervade the classic car hobby, this stunning Ford is the coolest road-ready hot rod your money can buy! This hot coupe's smooth, all-steel body began life as a run-of-the-mill Model A that was destined to roll through years of dry sunsets. When the car's current owner took possession of its straight and solid shell, he promptly contacted Mills & Co. in Marietta, Georgia to arrange a celebrity-style restoration that included a 3-inch chop and 3-inch channel. Once those custom cuts were laser-straight, Customs & Color in Powder Springs, Georgia added a spectacular coat of House Of Kolor Goldmine Pearl. When that killer two-stage had been buffed to a spectacular shine, veteran artist Bill Abrams created a filigree of stylish pinstripes. And today, this Ford is a banner showpiece that mixes the skill of experienced fabricators with the integrity of Dearborn's storied product. Naturally, since it's a Mills & Co. creation, everything on this Ford is exceptionally well-done. The car mixes just the right amount of pre-war charm with high quality, 21st century detailing to produce spinning heads and gawking fans. At the front of its body, Satin Black frame horns center a 1932 grille shell between a chrome 'bullnose' cap, sharp Guide 682-C headlights and a bright blue "Ford" emblem. Behind that grille, a chrome-trimmed firewall anchors a tilting windshield between correctly mounted doors and a removable Haartz top. Behind that windshield, smoked glass rides above a factory decklid that's complete with a traditional trunk handle. And below that decklid, '48 Chevrolet tail lights illuminate small, center-mount exhaust tips. The car's profile combines the clean, simple look that's typical of classic, fenderless hot rods with a number of traditional touches, including correct door handles, a Ford fuel cap and old school bear claw hinges. And overall, its top notch build integrates the greatest attributes of both old and new into a single, unifying vision that establishes a lasting impression. Check this custom's color-keyed engine bay and you'll find a mean, 350 cubic inch GM crate engine that's good for 8.5 to 1 compression, 290 horsepower and 350 lb./ft. of tire-twisting torque. At that top of that Jet Black small block, a trio of chrome air cleaners forces wind into a trio of Rochester 2GC carburetors. At the base of those carburetors, an aluminum Offenhauser intake hangs a proven Mallory Unilite distributor between finned, cast aluminum valve covers. At the base of those valve covers, high quality Taylor plug wires snake around ceramic-coated, lake-style headers. And in front of those headers, an old school generator spins behind a large electric puller fan and custom, 5-row radiator. Aesthetically, both the monochromatic mill and its assortment of bright accessories seem right at home inside their smooth, color-keyed frame. And details like polished fuel lines and a fresh Delco-Remy voltage regulator ensure this coupe runs every bit as good as it looks. In keeping with its 'impressive but functional' theme, this first class Ford rides a double Z'd chassis, 4-inch up front and 8-inch out back, that's been fully worked and professionally powdercoated. The smooth 350's power flows into a rugged T5 5-speed that spins stout 3.55 gears via a tough hydraulic clutch and proven John's Industries 9-inch. At the head of those heavy duty components, a 4-inch dropped axle, Posies reversed-eye spring and Vega-style steering box ride between early Lincoln drums, familiar Pete & Jake's hairpins and modern Pete & Jake's shocks. Opposite that rack, Pete & Jake's ladder bars and a second set of modern Pete & Jake's shocks sandwich a second Posies reversed-eye spring between two Ford 10-inch drums. At the center of the car, ceramic-coated, true-dual exhaust funnels a deep roar through throaty Mellow Tone mufflers. And all this fully sorted hardware rolls on 16-inch painted steel wheels, which spin staggered Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewalls around snazzy Ford center caps. Take a look inside this custom and you'll find a spectacular street rod interior that, like the car's waterproof roof, was professionally installed by Burt Litton Interiors of Marietta, Georgia. At the center of the cockpit, industrial bomber seats wear Morbern Carrera Buck Vinyl between sturdy, 2-point seatbelts. In front of those seats, a custom dash hangs crisp Stewart Warner 'wings' around authentic Gibson Guitar accessory knobs. Below that dash, like-new carpet floats amid Wilwood hydraulic foot pedals, thick Dynamat insulation and a simple, vintage shifter. At the edge of that carpet, Haartz side panels hang traditional chrome handles below glossy pearl frames. Above those panels, a tight Haartz headliner frames a delicate mirror just ahead of beautifully stained roof bows. In front of the driver, a LimeWorks column anchors a beefy Stewart Warner tachometer behind a speed-drilled LimeWorks wheel. And behind the passengers, an appropriately upholstered trunk backs a modern battery and small storage nook. The sale of this awesome street rod includes a stack of component manuals. This striking Ford 5-window is a nicely finished classic that was built to be driven AND seen. It uses top-notch components from some of the best names in the business to create a unique car that mixes killer personality with awesome curb appeal. If you're looking for a road ready hot rod that's guaranteed to draw a crowd wherever you go, your search is officially over! But, simply put, the true theme of the resto-mod movement is: the best of everything. And if there was ever a textbook example of a true-to-form resto-mod, this Plymouth Road Runner has to be it. Showcasing the hard work of very skilled enthusiasts who understand how to enhance the best attributes of a slick, frame-off restoration, this exemplary coupe features a slew of top-shelf modifications. If you're in the market for an incredible classic that can be shown and driven with the best muscle cars on the road, we've got two words for you: "Beep! Beep!" BODYWORK/TRIM After spending most of its life as a clean driver, this awesome B-Body was the perfect starting point for a professional, rotisserie restoration that mixed a killer engine with classic MoPar attitude. The car's straight body was stripped to bare metal, fitted to a few floor pan patches and finished with a fresh trunk pan. Once those planes were completely clean and fully prepped, quality PPG basecoat was detailed with custom Road Runner graphics and sealed in glossy clear. And today, this primed and polished Plymouth sits as one super slick road warrior that features a perfect combination of no-nonsense looks and vicious street manners. Admittedly, the Road Runner was a little more ambiguous than its Dodge-branded siblings, but a lot of people like that contrast and dig the model's super clean looks. At the front of this coupe, a black-trimmed, body-width grille hangs four H4 headlights above a mirrored bumper and clear parking lamps. Above that grille, a familiar A12-style hood flows to like-new glass that's sandwiched between fresh stainless trim, silver stainless wipers and filled cowl. At the sides of that hood, subtly sculpted panels hang a chrome driver's mirror above shaved fenders, shaved doors and sectioned quarters. And at the back of those panels, a clean decklid centers a color-keyed wing above factory-fresh taillights and a second mirrored bumper. ENGINE What do you do when you have a sweet MoPar muscle car that needs a heart transplant? You call Alpharetta, Georgia's Grimes Automotive Machine and order something akin to this Plymouth's 500 cubic inch Chrysler big block. According to 2013 dyno results, that mill, essentially a bored, stroked and built 440, moves to the tune of 579 dyno-proven horsepower and 625 lb./ft. of tire-spinning torque! At the top of the block, a K&N XStream air cleaner forces wind in to a big Holley carburetor that's cinched to braided fuel lines. At the base of that carb, a MoPar intake feeds air and fuel to Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, which have been ported, polished and treated to a multi-angle valve job. Beneath those heads, forged internals, which include an Eagle crank, Scat rods and Wiseco pistons, combine with roller lifters, roller rockers and a custom-grind Comp hydraulic roller cam to create stout 10.5 to 1 compression. That compression is sparked by an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which sequences fire between an MSD Blaster 2 coil and MSD Super Conductor plug wires. When that fire flashes, Hooker Super Competition headers ensure the engine breathes well. At the front of those headers, snazzy March serpentine components spin a billet power steering pump and polished Powermaster alternator at the sides of a quality Edelbrock water pump. At the front of the engine bay, a proven Griffin radiator makes good use of dual SPAL puller fans. There's an impressive roster of hardware that includes, but isn't limited to, a Milodon windage tray, a Wilwood master cylinder and tough ARP bolts. And aesthetically, the Jet Black mill provides an excellent contrast to the car's bright red fenders, with details like tubular chassis supports, color-keyed Mopar Performance valve covers and intricate breathers supplementing power with polish. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Like its slick exterior and clean engine bay, the bottom of this coupe is a great combination of past and present. The powerful engine sends thrust to a Keisler-sourced Tremec TKO600 5-speed that enables the car to comfortably attain highway speeds. That proven transmission twists a tough Keisler driveshaft and familiar 8.75-inch axle, which spin a posi-trac differential around big, 3.91 gears. That awesome drivetrain rides between beefy sway bars, Fatman drop spindles, modern coil-overs, small lowering blocks and Competition Engineering shocks. Turns come courtesy of factory-style power steering. Power-assisted Wilwood calipers provide stops. 3-inch exhaust employs electronic cutouts in front of dual-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Torque meets the pavement through polished Billet Specialties SLGs, which spin 245/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 295/45ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. Naturally, the car's painted frame and undercoated floors are solid and display no signs of major rust or serious weathering. And yes, in typical resto-mod fashion, there's a roster of great finishing components, including stainless fluid lines, polygraphite bushings and sturdy subframe connectors. INTERIOR Pop this Plymouth's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that plays on the car's incredible aesthetic. An attractive bucket and bench combo has, like the rest of the cockpit, been decked in clean, silver accents that do a great job of mimicking snakeskin. In front of those mitts, a custom, color-keyed dash hangs Auto Meter Ultra-Lite II telemetry beside an MP3-compatible Pioneer head unit that controls Kicker speakers, a Kicker amplifier and Kicker subwoofers. At the base of that dash, a custom console centers a TKO Pistol Grip shifter in front of a broad armrest, a small fire extinguisher and metal cupholders. Beneath that console, tight carpet bridges the gap between machined foot pedals, stainless sill plates and body-matched doorjambs. At the edges of that carpet, custom door panels hang polished handles between glossy frames, snakeskin armrests and small switches for modern power windows. In front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel was specifically chosen to match the car's rolling stock. And behind the Dynamat-wrapped cockpit, a custom, Road Runner-themed trunk features plenty of room for car show supplies. For starters, the Camaro is, in many enthusiasts' minds, the quintessential American muscle car. Given the marque's big production numbers, they're pretty easy to find. And, thanks to broad aftermarket support, they're fairly easy to build and maintain. That said; every classic takes patience. And building a project to the level of this award-winning Super Sport can quickly fall into a lifelong saga. That's why, increasingly, enthusiasts are walking directly in to our showroom and kicking the words "finding" and "building" right out of the conversation. Wrapping sinister aesthetics around a custom chassis, a leather-lined cockpit and a spry 502/5-speed drivetrain, this coupe is all about the phrase "quintessential American muscle car"! BODYWORK/TRIM The product of a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration that was completed in early 2015, this authentic X66 Super Sport features an athletic appearance that's ready for prime time. The car was built by Scott Whidby of Moultrie, Georgia: a man who's no stranger to world-class Camaro projects, having won multiple national awards and enjoyed features in pretty much every magazine that writes about Chevys. And when he started this reboot, he rescued a solid Florida skeleton that was promptly complemented with new floors, a new roof, fresh quarters, GM doors and GM fenders. Since the car was mostly new sheetmetal anyway, a smoothed firewall was followed with a shaved cowl and high quality mini tubs. And today, countless hours and 6-figures later, this classic presents as one very enticing panther that's sure to please ANY red-blooded enthusiast! See, the idea was to transform a well-driven cruiser into a head turning custom. And, given the reputation of the shop this Chevy rolled out of, it wasn't a hard stretch. The overall look of this restoration-fresh Camaro is beyond factory perfect. And, thanks to a spectacular combination of Hyundai Hip Hop Red and carefully chosen accents, the car pops like a well-tailored Power Suit. Up front, a shaved grille hangs clean halogen headlights above a flush-fit, color-keyed bumper, factory parking lamps and a short, Trans Am-style spoiler. At the top of that grille, a shaved header leads a cowl induction hood, which reflects clear glass, straight stainless and color-keyed drip rails. At the sides of that header, mirrorless doors anchor chrome handles between satin hockey stripes and small, chrome-trimmed marker lamps. And at the back of the car, a Satin Black valance centers factory taillights between a D80 deck spoiler and second flush-fit, color-keyed bumper. ENGINE Lift this F1's glowing hood and you'll find a custom-built, 502 cubic inch Chevrolet big block that spins stout 11 to 1 compression into roughly 600 horsepower! The big engine's growl originates when wind whips from a Hip Hop Red air cleaner in to an 850 CFM Race Demon carburetor that's cinched to stainless fluid lines and a familiar Lokar throttle cable. The resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from a ground and painted Dart intake to ground and polished Dart Pro 1 heads, which are topped with painted, "CHEVROLET" branded valve covers. When the juice hits those heads, hot MSD ignition sends fire through piped and sleeved Moroso plug wires while big cylinders combust via Wiseco pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, a steel crank and a Comp Cams solid roller camshaft. Cooling for that fire comes courtesy of a painted PRC radiator that's strung between a billet water neck, SPAL puller fans and a Hip Hop Red support cowl. Fluid for that cooling is provided by a Stewart water pump, which, along with a polished alternator and fresh AC compressor, spins on high quality Vintage Air FrontRunner components. Spent gases exit through a slick pair of ceramic-coated shorty headers. The buff mill is exceptionally impressive, centering its fully finished block between color-keyed fenders, a smoothed hood and hydraulic supports. And details like ARP studs, Harland Sharp stud girdles, a Comp Cams gear drive, polished breathers and a Lokar dipstick ensure the car's "show" is perfectly aligned with its "go". DRIVETRAIN Take a look under this tire shredding pony car and you'll find a fully restored chassis that's ready for either the strip or the turntable. Behind the big engine, a fresh Centerforce clutch engages a tough Tremec TKO600 5-speed, which spins a new Ford 9-inch around a posi-traction differential and big, 4.11 gears. Below that driveline, a custom front-half makes good use of tubular control arms, adjustable QA1 coil-overs and power rack-and-pinion steering. Opposite that fully fabricated clip, a triangulated 4-link hangs two more adjustable QA1 coil-overs behind rigid Detroit Speed subframe connectors. At the corners of that modern suspension, two fifth generation Corvette calipers clamp 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors while two more fifth generation Corvette calipers clamp 13.5-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers in to a custom exhaust system that's comprised of 3-inch stainless pipes, an H-shaped crossover and Borla ProXS mufflers. Power meets the pavement through painted Intros, which spin 235/35ZR19 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 275/35ZR20 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. And the car's fresh, slick-painted floors are finished with an array of stainless fluid lines and a clean, body-matched fuel tank. INTERIOR Open this Chevy's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that wraps 21st century style in a nice blend of comfort and convenience. The car's firm seats, sculpted buckets and a split bench, have been covered in supple hides and detailed with polished buttons. In front of those bolstered thrones, a leather-trimmed dash hangs Omega Kustom telemetry behind an aftermarket instrument panel, Vintage Air climate control and a modern Pioneer head unit that, thanks to Haywire wiring, commands Rockford-Fosgate amps, JL Audio speakers and a Pioneer subwoofer. At the base of that dash, a custom, full-length console centers a small Hurst shifter in front of switches for Nu-Relics power windows. Beneath that lit console, tight California Carpet anchors color-keyed floor mats below billet foot pedals. At the edges of that carpet, custom door panels hang polished handles above sculpted armrests, subtle trim spears and traditional Fisher sills. In front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully finished trunk is complete all the way to its smooth decklid cover. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA cam cardMiscellaneous component paperworkAn artist's rendering of the carA small jar of touch-up paint With its brutal big block, custom suspension and fresh leather interior, this awesome Camaro combines explosive horsepower with excellent handling and classic American appeal. Nothing's simply 'adequate' about this car; it's an exceptionally well-done street machine that'll provide years of invigorating performance and turn heads anywhere it goes. If you're looking for a stunning Detroit super star that has the muscle to back up its killer good looks, this clean Chevy is your next cruiser! Linger on that thought a little longer and the sound of a small block V8 comes to mind coupled with images of an old school dash. We'll let you fill in the details from there but, if you like where we were going, have a look at this incredible Chevy Nova. Backing a 427 cubic inch LS2 with a race-prepped Tremec, track-ready mechanicals and show-stopping aesthetics, this magazine-featured coupe has been drawing stares ever since it rolled in to our showroom. And if you're ready to feel the summer breeze behind the wheel of a storied and unique custom, it's a chance to turn your dreams into reality! BODYWORK/TRIM Right at home cruising the strip, right at home showing beside exotics and right at home schooling Miatas on the autocross course, this Nova is just too much! No, seriously, that's the car's name: "II Much". Built, rebuilt and built again by a dedicated gearhead who wanted a killer pro-tourer, II Much features a detailed, custom appearance that's based in vivid PPG blue, highlighted by Metallic Black war paint and trimmed in custom, anodized accents. Take one look down the sides of the car's slick body and it becomes very obvious that the folks at Canton, Georgia's Road Killer Customs took great care to ensure all gaps are at better-than-factory standards. Step closer to the car's wet looking finish and check out straight and ripple-free panels that aren't plagued by any major imperfections. Grab the car's well-adjusted doors and feel how smoothly they close to provide excellent fit, which is set off by a glossy clearcoat shine. It all adds up to one world-class, mostly garage-built custom that transforms traditional muscle car style into multi-dimensional swagger! The subdued and classy lines of the prototypical Nova are early '60s conservative. And because they're so universal in appeal, they've continued to gain significant popularity. At the front of this hardtop, modern halogen headlamps hang a mesh-trimmed, crossbar grille behind a small bowtie, a mesh-trimmed, fiberglass bumper and a custom spoiler. A fiberglass cowl induction hood leads the eye to smoked glass that's framed by Metallic Black trim, shaved drip rails, and a shaved and filled cowl. At the sides of that glass, a clean, modernist profile centers traditional GM door handles behind color-keyed bowtie mirrors. And an adjustable carbon fiber spoiler reflects vertical tail lamps and a second fiberglass bumper. ENGINE This sweet looking Chevy is powered by a 427 cubic inch LS2 that, thanks to Wegner Automotive Research of Markesan, Wisconsin, creates roughly 620 pavement-scorching horsepower! Built to tear up the track and wow show goers alike, that sleeved and stroked mill combines a Rapid Motorsports block with a proven Wegner valvetrain and custom-wired FAST XFI electronics to transform stout compression into razor-sharp throttle response. Air is supplied by a black-cased reusable filter element, which rides on a proven Holley throttle body. That oxygen makes its way from a single-plane GM Performance Parts intake to CNC-ported and polished LS6 cylinder heads, which are juiced by 42 lb. Holley injectors. Sparks are sequenced through factory-spec ignition and familiar GM Performance Parts plug wires. When fire hits the cylinders, a Lunati Voodoo cam combines with Lunati forged pistons, Lunati Pro Mod rods and a Lunati 4-inch crank to make everything spin. The remnants of that fire swirl through custom-fabricated Stainless Works headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a giant Ron Davis radiator, which is fitted with two equally large puller fans. And, at the front of the technical-looking block, a Vintage Air FrontRunner accessory drive spins standard ancillaries. The custom engine compartment, which includes a relocated firewall and fabricated inner fenders, is every bit as extravagant and detailed as the car's stunning exterior. And niceties such as Earl's hoses, ARP hardware and a custom, reverse-hinge hood add the kind of fully sorted details that push enthusiasts right over the edge! DRIVETRAIN Take a long look under this lightweight X-Body and you'll find a whole roster of small modifications that add up to impressive appearance points and big performance gains. The buff LS2 leads a race-prepped Tremec TKO600 5-speed, which utilizes a tough RPS clutch and Howe throwout bearing to twist a custom Mark Williams driveshaft. On the other side of that shaft, a narrowed and Morrison-housed Moser spins a proven Detroit Locker differential around civil, 3.25 gears and rugged, 35-spline axles. Spent gases are managed by 3-inch, Mandrel-bent pipes, which breath through a MagnaFlow X-pipe, hearty MagnaFlow mufflers and custom, angled tips. And power pounds the pavement through 3-piece Kinesis K18s, which spin 265/35ZR18 Pirelli P Zero Corsas in front of 315/30ZR18 Pirelli P Zero Corsas. CHASSIS/SUSPENSION Holding that stellar drivetrain off the ground is a high quality Art Morrison chassis, which is adhered beneath custom floors, custom wheel tubs and a custom transmission tunnel that were fabricated from various gauges of 1018 cold rolled steel. That chassis glides on a Katz Tsubai-designed suspension that, thanks to a custom short-long arm front-half and custom 3-link back-half, pulls over 1 g on the track. That scratch-built front-half features: C4 hubs, billet Brian Schein spindles, 4130 tubular lower control arms, adjustable QA1 coil-overs, Lensing springs, needle-bearing upper control arms, Howe Racing ball joints, a Stock Car Products modular sway bar, a custom-fabricated crossmember and custom-fabricated aluminum uprights and coil-over mounts. The car's scratch-built back-half features: two more adjustable QA1 coil-overs, two more Lensing springs, adjustable control arms, an adjustable panhard bar and a thick Morrison sway bar. That suspension points through a custom Woodward steering rack, which mixes Lefthander Chassis tie rods and custom-machined 4340 steel steering arms with proven Borgeson joints. Stops come quickly thanks to Wilwood 6 and 4-piston calipers, which use two .75 Wilwood master cylinders to squeeze two 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors up front and two 12-inch drilled and slotted rotors out back. Like any carefully assembled classic, the bottom of this Nova is as well-finished as its top, with painted floors hovering over such niceties as stainless fluid lines, a Corvette oil pan, a 16-gallon, custom-baffled fuel cell and fresh Aeromotive pressure components. INTERIOR Inside this Chevy, classic style is augmented with seamlessly integrated customization. Cloth Sparco Monza seats, which hang snazzy "II Much" brandings over cam-released SCHROTH 4-point belts, are track day comfortable. At the base of those seats, fade-free carpet rides between a custom, Vintage Air-equipped console, custom foot pedals, a billet Tremec shifter and thick Dynamat insulation. A color-keyed dash features an array of Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges, while custom door skins are designed to flow with the car's 12-point roll cage. Connecting the driver to the road is a Sparco 3-spoke steering wheel spinning around a pull-off hub and tilting Ididit column. At the rear is a simple trunk that hides a centered gel cell battery behind a good amount of cargo space. And an integrated, MP3-compatible sound system keeps the tunes bumping with the help of a large amp, a large subwoofer and five crisp speakers. First and foremost, they want something that's unique. Secondly, they want something that's highly desirable. And last but not least, they want something that has major provenance. Fortunately, the gearheads at RK Motors Charlotte pride themselves on specializing in blue chip classics. And they always have cars, like this 1 of 1 Motion-modified GSX, that are lustworthy, exclusive and historically significant. With a 455 cubic inch V8, correct Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and brilliant yellow and black aesthetics, this Buick is certainly some of the coolest metal to ever roll out of Detroit. The beneficiary of a recent rotisserie restoration, the car can be displayed and driven for years without worry. And, thanks to the folks at Motion Performance, it's a one-of-a-kind classic that's virtually guaranteed to gain value! By now you probably know that most of our investment grade offerings feature substantial documentation. And, in keeping with tradition, the sale of this storied A-Body includes a small packet from the GSX Historic Society that lists the following optional equipment:A-9 Option Group- Distinctive GSX hood and body stripes- Front and rear spoilers- GSX spoiler and quarter ornamentation- GSX grille and instrument panel emblems- Rocker panel moldings with distinctive black GSX stripes- Color-coordinated headlamp bezels- Color-coordinated racing mirrors- Hood tachometerGS option included in GSX- B-3: 4-speed manual transmission- B-7: Consolette- C-1: Power disc brakes- F-7: Chrome wheels with G60-15 Super Wide Oval / white billboard lettered tires- G-1: Performance axle with posi-traction 3.42 gear ratio- H-6 Rally Ride Control Package-- Firm ride springs-- Rear stabilizer bar-- Rear lower control arm assembly- U-9: Instrument gauges and Rally clock- X-2: Rally steering wheelOptional equipment- B-2: Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission- B-4: Full-length console- C-D: Quick ratio power steering and power disc brakes- D-5: AM/FM radio- D-6: Rear speaker- F-7: Chrome wheels with G60-15 Super Wide Oval / white billboard lettered tires- H-6: Rally Ride Control Package-- Firm ride springs-- Rear stabilizer bar-- Rear lower control arm assembly- I-6: Air conditioner- J-3: Custom front seat and shoulder belts / Custom rear seatbelts- L-1: Soft Ray tinted glass- P-1: Carpet savers and handy mats- U-9: Instrument gauges and rally clock- 3-N: Special paint Looking mean and sounding positively evil, this killer coupe was transferred from Smith Buick in Seneca, South Carolina to Lindsey-Hopkins Buick in Marietta, Georgia at the request of a money-wielding Georgia Tech student. That student originally hailed from Long Island and, during one of his trips home, decided to stop by Motion Performance for some choice modifications. And the duo promptly began a life of bare-knuckle pavement domination, eventually becoming legends in the Atlanta street racing scene. Unfortunately, priorities change and, roughly three years into its life, the car was sold to a second owner. Both that owner and its third owner pledged loving restorations which turned into years of parts storage. And finally, circa 2005, an avid Buick enthusiast, and owner of Marietta's Then and Now Auto, purchased, researched and restored the car. That restoration was, in typical Then and Now fashion, a highly detailed, rotisserie rebuild. During that rebuild, the car's body was stripped to bare metal and massaged into better-than-factory alignment. When that alignment was as close to perfect as possible, correct Saturn Yellow was decked in satin stripes, sealed in glossy clear and buffed to a super slick shine. And today, this GSX presents as a no-nonsense classic that turns heads and drops jaws! By 1970, Buick had pretty much perfected its top dog performance offering both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of the car, a clean silver grille hangs a bold "GSX" emblem between a heavy bumper, yellow-trimmed T3s and a small chin spoiler. Behind that grille, a locked and vented hood incorporates a beefy tachometer in front of hidden wipers, Soft Ray glass and bright stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, color-keyed mirrors and traditional door handles perfectly complement small "MOTION" emblems, vivid "GSX" call-outs and dent-free fender caps. And at the back of the car, a massive bumper centers a classy "BUICK" script between clear tail lamps and a tall, "GSX" branded spoiler. While the exterior of this A-Body does an excellent job of upholding GM Design's world-class visuals, the engine compartment is where purists REALLY start to take notice. And for good reason, because the 455 cubic inch V8 that's bolted between the car's freshly detailed fenders is the kind of powerhouse that makes people put up or shut up. Turn the key and a Motion-installed Holley 3-barrel mixes air from a Motion-installed 'fly's eye' air cleaner with fuel that's supplied by two electronic, Motion-installed fuel pumps. That air/fuel mixture travels into a Motion-installed Edelbrock B4B intake which, with the help of stock GM internals, creates detuned 9.5 to 1 compression that's perfectly compatible with pump gas. Fire for that compression is provided by an Accel distributor, which shoots sparks through Mallory Ramcharger plug wires thanks to an Accel coil and Motion-installed Phase III ignition. Spent gases from that fire are jetted through Motion-installed Mickey Thompson Competition Plus headers. And cooling for that cycle is provided by a factory radiator that circulates water around an old school Frigidaire AC system via pliable hoses and correct tower clamps. Well-planned details like fresh decals, a Delco battery topper, correct Motion valve covers and an even coat of Satin Black paint prove someone spent a lot of time executing this Buick's restoration. And it all adds up to one fully-sorted road rocket which is all day reliable and nice enough to grace the front row at a national car show. Oh, and did I mention the big red engine is believed to be a factory exchange block that was pre-assembled by the pros at Motion Performance? As you might imagine, the tweaked 455 needed ample backup to effectively establish street credibility. So, Motion complemented Buick's already impressive mechanicals with a few choice components. First and foremost, this coupe's Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed has been hooked to a 12-bolt Chevrolet rear end that's fitted with a finned cover and quick, 4.10 gears. Below that drivetrain, a correct Rally Ride Control suspension is supplemented with Hurst shocks and yellow Lakewood ladder bars. Naturally, factory power steering and power front disc and rear drum brakes are present and accounted for. Exhaust flows through Motion-installed pipes and vintage Thrush mufflers. The big block's torque meets the pavement through slick Keystone mags, which spin correct G60-15 Mickey Thompson Indy Profile S/S around Motion-branded spinners. And overall, the bottom of this professionally restored classic appears to be in excellent, show worthy condition. Pop the coupe's sculpted doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that's steeped in subdued tri-shield style. Comfy seats and fade-free door panels mix with a tight headliner and stain-free carpet to provide big-time contrast to the car's Saturn Yellow exterior. In front of those seats, a straight, Motion-branded dash hangs clean Rally gauges next to a retrofitted radio delete. At the base of that dash, a simple shifter rides inside an ornate console and heavy duty, tri-shield branded floor mats. In front of the driver, a familiar Buick Rally wheel spins satin-finished spokes around a red-lined horn button. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a Mickey Thompson spare behind a chrome fire extinguisher and the aforementioned fuel pumps. The sale of this brazen Buick includes:A 1970 nickel found in the car's driver's seatA 1973 photo of the carA summary of the car's historyA specs sheetRestoration photosA copy of the car's feature in the October, 2006 edition on Muscle Car Enthusiast MagazineThe previously outlined paperwork from the GSX Historic SocietyA letter from Joel Rosen, President of Motion Performance, confirming the car's authenticity. And today, when it comes to high dollar classics, you simply can't go wrong with a first generation Z/28. Pedigreed, well-done small block cars continue to be some of the hottest selling metal on the market. And this documented, investment grade Z/28 has all the right ingredients to bring big value and even bigger appeal. For starters, it's an authentic Matador Red car which features a correct Red interior. It also packs a correct 302 that's equipped with a rare cross ram intake. AND it rows power through a tough Muncie 4-speed and correct 4.56 gears. If you're in the market for a restoration-fresh collector car that you can enjoy and build equity in, this slick F1 demands your full attention! We'll start by breaking down the car's basics. VIN: 124378NXXXXXX1 - Chevrolet2 - Camaro4 V8 engine / Standard interior37 - Sport coupe8 - 1968 model yearN - Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facilityXXXXXX Production sequence number COWL TAG:06D - Assembled during the fourth week (D) of June (06), 196868 - 1968 model year12437 - V8-powered (4) Chevrolet (1) Camaro (2) Sport coupe (37)NOR - Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility162027 - Fisher Body number724 - Standard, Red interior that's fitted with bucket seatsR2 - Matador Red paint The beneficiary of a professional, rotisserie restoration that included $38K of paint and body work, this vivid panther simply glistens under our bright showroom lights. Craig Hopkins, of Cleveland, Georgia's AMD Installation Center, put a lot of effort into making sure the car's body is extremely straight. That time was well spent, as excellent panel gaps perfectly center hinged pieces which move freely and close with solidity. And those pieces are bathed in DuPont Matador Red two-stage that's been dressed with Tuxedo Black war paint and buffed to a spectacular shine. When it comes to purity of form, I can't really think of a better looking car than Chevrolet's 60s-era Camaro. It's a solid and straightforward design that continues to age exceptionally well, especially in the company of its exaggerated and extroverted competitors. At the front of this super cool F1, a pristine Rally Sport grille centers a stacked "RS" badge and bright halogen headlights between a spotless bumper, clear parking lamps and a small header script. At the top of that grille, a flat hood reflects a sweet combination of like-new glass, mirrored stainless frames and fresh black vinyl. At the sides of that hood, a monochromatic profile hangs prominent "Z/28" emblems and blocky "rally sport" scripts between familiar door handles, RS rocker trim and a correct chrome mirror. And at the back of the car, a small trunk script and second spotless bumper frame bright reverse lamps, '68 Camaro-exclusive tail lights, and an "RS" branded fuel filler. Hoist this classic's solid steel hood and you'll be delighted to find a rare Winters cross ram on top of a correct, 302 cubic inch high performance V8. Fresh from Precision Engines LLC, that fully balanced mill utilizes a forged SCAT crank, forged SCAT rods, SRP pistons and a Bullet Trans Am-spec cam to twist stout 11 to 1 compression into 344 dyno-proven horsepower! At the top of the red hot small block, beefy Holley carburetors mix fuel from fresh stainless fluid lines with oxygen that's piped through a chrome, cowl-fed air cleaner. Behind those carburetors, modern electronic ignition sequences spark through fresh Packard TV R Suppression Cables. And at the sides of that ignition, authentic 'double hump' heads hang bright chrome valve covers over roller tip rocker arms and professionally restored exhaust manifolds. When fired, the infamous V8 snarls and barks like a real competition piece. Its ancillary components are top-notch in every way, with fresh GM hoses and a correct Delco Moraine brake booster accompanying a reproduction Delco battery. And an even combination of Chevy Orange engine skin and Satin Black fender framing is accented by clean and appropriate decals. Back in 1968, the best set up the Camaro offered was a tough Muncie transmission and track-worthy 4.56 rear end. This coupe's correct 4-speed, which is equipped with a fresh clutch and flywheel, twists a shortened A-Body pumpkin that's packed with new Moser axles, a proven Eaton posi and 4.56 Richmond gears. That first-rate drivetrain is held off the ground by a completely rebuilt, high performance suspension, which includes 4-piston, Corvette-style brakes, tuned front coils, multi-leaf rears and reproduction shocks. That suspension is dissected by an aluminized, true-dual exhaust system, which is fitted with a correct, transversely mounted muffler. That exhaust system is framed by clean floors which perfectly highlight a new stainless fuel tank, fresh stainless fluid lines and a variety of chip-free chassis components. Those floors roll on 15-inch Rally wheels, which spin E70-15 Goodyear Wide Tread GTs around correct stainless center caps and dent-free trim rings. And while this Rally Sport has, to our knowledge, never been shown, it would certainly fare well hovering over a quartet of undercarriage mirrors. The Standard Red interior hiding behind this car's small red doors illustrates the true, no frills intentions of Chevrolet's hallowed Z/28. Its bucket seats were restored with new backs, new foam and reproduction covers that look and feel fantastic. In front of those seats a stainless-trimmed dash, which exhibits no signs of warping or peeling, hangs rebuilt telemetry above a clean radio delete. At the base of that dash, great looking carpet centers a chrome Hurst shifter between four color-keyed floor mats. That seat, dash and flooring trifecta is framed by a tight headliner and standard, stainless-trimmed door panels. In front of the driver, Chevrolet's classy Rosewood steering wheel spins satin spokes around a red, white and blue centerpiece. And behind the passengers, the car's solid trunk has been correctly restored with new paint, a new mat, fresh decals and a full-size spare tire. The sale of this first class F-Body includes:An original Protect-O-PlateA vintage window stickerPre-restoration photosRestoration photosRestoration receiptsOfficial dyno sheets Early Z/28s are certainly rare, and "IMPRESSIVE" is one word that definitely describes this car. Given the crop of clones and fakes that popped up as the marque gained popularity, having a documented, correct example is precisely what separates the enthusiasts from the fans. If you want a pony car that'll draw a crowd for reasons other than bright paint and aftermarket badges, this investment grade F1 is exactly what you're looking for! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle National Award Winning Chevelle "Black Thunder" 502 V8 Year: 1966 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Black Mileage: 63 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 502 V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info You already know that RK Motors Charlotte has a thing for Chevrolet's most famous muscle car. From their long list of options and stacks of documentation to their hundreds of cubic inches of big block bliss, we've brought you some of the most mind-blowing, potent and flat-out brutal Chevelles the market has ever seen! And from the insane LSX-powered coupe we sold last month to the rare Golden Brown convertible we featured a few weeks ago, we continue to be your number one source for anything that starts with the letters C, H, E and V. After all, what's not to love about a classic that defines the dominant era of Chevrolet ingenuity, showcases an unparalleled era in American culture and represents the best era of Detroit's manufacturing might? Absolutely nothing; and that's why this award-winning pro-tourer, with its 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts V8, custom suspension and classy leather interior, is the perfect piece for the muscle car fan who wants the best of absolutely everything! Selling for a solid $262K just one year after its professional, body-off restoration, this slick Chevy hardtop features a seamless and sinister appearance that's highlighted by an immaculate layer of custom PPG basecoat. Now, we all know it isn't easy to perfect a body that's going to be dipped in deep black pigment. And that difficulty doubles when said black pigment is pretty much the ONLY thing prospective admirers have to focus on. But, no worries here; just take one look down the sides of this Chevelle's rock-solid fuselage and it's obvious that Cummings Custom Classics of Maryville, Tennessee took great care ensuring each of its panels were aligned to better-than-factory fit. Step closer to those panels' hypnotic finish and check out their straight and ripple-free surfaces, which are a product of high quality prep work and 100% original sheetmetal. Grab that sheetmetal's well-adjusted pivot points and feel how smoothly they close to provide an excellent fit, which is highlighted by precise gaps and a glossy PPG clearcoat. Now, step back and watch it all add up to one extremely impressive classic that's built to exacting specifications. The key to creating a world class custom is building a car that, even though it looks virtually seamless, actually contains many labor-intensive modifications. Take this foreboding Chevelle, for example. Thanks to subtle metalwork and a little help from the folks at Advanced Plating in Nashville, Tennessee, GM's mid-size sales champ has never looked so good! At the front of the car, a mirrored grille hangs a custom "502" emblem between chrome headlight buckets, traditional T3 headlamps and a spotless chrome bumper. At the sides of the car, shaved fender emblems and a distinct lack of brightwork hint at a serious personality while traditional door handles and fresh wheel frames add a little form to major function. At the top of the car, a shaved Super Sport hood leads the eye to smoked glass that rides behind a smoothed cowl, straight stainless trim and bright stainless wipers. And at the back of the car, a smoothed valence hangs crystal clear tail lights above a second spotless bumper. Few cars fit the 'muscle car' description better than a Chevelle. And when you build a Chevelle that's named "Black Thunder", you'd better stock some SERIOUS horsepower. Twisting 540 dyno-proven horses into a massive 560 lb./ft. of stump-pulling torque, this coupe's killer GM Performance Parts 502 is a logical testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more horsepower. Massaged by Hinkle Machine Shop in London, Kentucky, the brutal mill utilizes a forged crank, shot penned rods, aluminum pistons and a hydraulic roller cam to flat out whip pretty much anything with four wheels. A perfect air/fuel mixture is supplied by a big Holley 750, which anchors a Proform center section between a reusable filter element and Holley pressure gauge. That mixture flows through a mirrored Edelbrock intake to ported and polished heads which, like the rest of the engine, have had their castings completely smoothed. Spark is sequenced from an MSD 6A ignition system to an MSD points distributor and loomed Taylor plug wires. Gases roar through large, custom-cut exhaust pipes via coated, custom-modified Hooker headers. And a coated Edelbrock water pump, two electric puller fans and polished Street & Performance pulleys ensure rocket-like acceleration. Visually, the classy gold block rides in a custom engine bay that displays OEM-level attentiveness to both engineering and assembly. And details like chrome hardware, custom stainless fluid lines and polished ancillary components create a clean and purposeful aesthetic. This is usually the point in a pro-tourer breakdown where passive optimism has turned into nail-biting enthusiasm. And unfortunately, that excitement is sometimes dampened by statements like "a factory-correct transmission" or "a corporate GM rear end". Not so with this first class Chevelle! Its owner's crystal clear vision of eventual perfection has culminated in a completely custom suspension that's chock full of high performance hardware and proven drivetrain components. The brazen big block twists to redline thanks to a fresh Jasper Turbo-Hydramatic 400, which backs a 2,600 RPM stall converter with a Positive Shift Kit. That polished gearbox utilizes a custom Sonny's Driveline driveshaft to spin an Eaton posi-traction differential around high quality Moser axles and 3.50 Motive Gears. Holding that world class drivetrain off the pavement is a massaged chassis that was smoothed and boxed at Craig's Hot Rod Shop in Knoxville, Tennessee. At the front of that chassis, polished Fatman control arms hang AGR power steering components and Carrera coil-over-shocks between a 1-inch Hotchkis sway bar and 1-inch lowering springs. At the back of that chassis, a proven Hotchkis 4-bar hangs polished shocks behind a second Hotchkis sway bar. Stops come courtesy of a beefy Baer brake system, which wraps polished calipers around 13-inch front, and 12-inch rear, drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust swirls through custom Craig's Hot Rod Shop pipes that were coated to match polished Edelbrock RPM Series Tru-Flo mufflers. And at the corners of the floor, custom Boyd Coddington wheels spin 245/50R17 BF Goodrich Comp T/As in front of 255/60R17 BF Goodrich Comp T/As. Aesthetically, the bottom of this Chevelle is just as clean as its top; framing smoothed and painted floors in a full outfit of custom stainless fluid lines. And essentials like a Moroso oil pan, Lokar transmission accessories and a Mallory Comp fuel pump round out a roster of top notch details. Inside the car, clean 60s style is augmented with impressive tailoring that was performed by Steve Holcomb of Pro Auto Custom Interiors in Knoxville, Tennessee. Cerullo front buckets and a custom rear bench are all-day comfortable, featuring supple hides that display no significant wrinkles. In front of those seats, a custom dash hangs smooth gold paint behind Classic Instruments gauges and a third Lokar-sourced "Black Thunder" emblem. On the floor, high quality carpet rides under traditional Fisher sills, color-keyed mats and a custom console that's detailed with a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter and Vintage Air climate control. In front of the driver, a tilting Ididit steering column spins a custom Lecarra wheel around polished Lokar foot pedals. At the sides of the passengers, two-tone door panels hang modern power windows behind polished handles, sculpted armrests and large kick speakers. And behind the cockpit, a smoothed and stitched trunk hangs an Alpine CD player and Alpine CD changer above two Alpine amplifiers and a new EZ Wiring harness. Naturally, this jaw-dropping coupe is no stranger to praise and accolades. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1972 Buick GS455 Stage 1 Restored Concours Gold GS 455 Stage 1 Convertible Year: 1972 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Orange Mileage: 49055 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 455 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle info It's a shame so many enthusiasts overlook the Buick Skylark when shopping for an A-body toy. Chevelles and GTOs, sure, but everyone seems to forget that the big Buicks, like the GS455, made more torque than any other gasoline engine GM built until the arrival of the latest supercharged Corvette ZR1. By 1972, compression was down, but the Buick was still a strong performer as the GS nailed 14-second quarter mile times at better than 100 MPH. And it did so while loaded with luxury features that were not available on its corporate cousins. This stunning Flame Orange GS is one of only 81 Stage 1 convertibles built in '72, one of only 66 built with an automatic transmission, and is believed to be one of 25 identically optioned Buick Zone Office cars. With a Concours Gold-winning restoration and full documentation courtesy of the Sloan Museum, this car is NOT to be missed. With a full package of paperwork from the Sloan Museum, this highly optioned GS Stage 1 is a coupe for the muscle car fan who doesn't want to give up, well, anything to get his performance fix. Check out this options list, which added more than $2,000 to the bottom line and brought the total to $5,556.67-dangerously close to 1972 Corvette territory:34: GS45567: ConvertibleZZ: Flame Orange1: White convertible top245: White notchback bench seat interiorB2: Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmissionCF: Power disc brakes and variable ratio power steeringDN: AM Sonoramic radio, rear speaker and stereo tape deckE6: Through bumper exhaust extensionsF7: G60-15 Firestone Wide Oval white letter tires and chrome plated wheelsG1: Performance axle with positive traction (standard with Stage 1)I6: Air conditioningJ1: Custom seat beltsL2: Soft-Ray tinted windshieldNF: Front and rear bumper guards and bumper strips front and rearO6: Sport outside rear view mirrorsS7: Tilt steeringUD: Full Rally Gauge package with clock and Convenience Group (trunk light, mirror map light)V2: Chrome plated wheels (standard with F9 Firestone Wide Oval tires)X2: Rallye steering wheel The car was treated to a frame-off restoration in 2006, and has recently been freshened for competition at the highest levels, including an all-new fully functional factory A/C system. Flame Orange is an incredibly rare color on an already shockingly rare car, and the bright hue was so far outside Buick's comfort zone that only a handful were built. Nevertheless, it looks fantastic on the Skylark's handsome sheetmetal, which is so perfectly proportioned that it's quite likely impossible to make it look bad. Then & Now Automotive in Marietta, Georgia handled the bodywork, and the results are, obviously, show-stopping. The paint is now two-stage urethane which looks about a mile deep and has a shine that no '70s finish could match. Just look at the way the panels line up, the way the light reflects off the paint, and the care with which it was all assembled. It's not surprising that this one has racked up some pretty impressive wins. All the details are correct as well. Although the basic body shape didn't change, Buick adjusted the detailing on the cars every year, making things like the grille unique from year to year. All the chrome on this one has been restored to concours condition, the stainless is fully polished to match, and yes, that grille is original and correct. Proper GS Stage 1 badges were installed, and details like the original T3 headlights and cool through-the-bumper exhaust tips help separate this car from its brothers. The engine is a date-code-correct WS-stamped warranty replacement block that was installed not too long after delivery. Why, we can't say for certain, but it's probably easy to guess. But there's no doubt that it's a correct GS Stage 1 block. The engine bay has been detailed for national competition and given the list of awards it has already won, it's clear that everything is correctly restored. It may show a few signs of use, most notably in some discolored paint around the exhaust ports, but that's how they looked the moment they were driven off the transport trucks and into the dealer's showroom. Please note that new A/C system, also installed by the guys at Then & Now, who obviously have some expertise with this car, and which uses 100% original components and blows ice cold today. While you could get a 4-speed in your GS Stage 1, an automatic really seems like the better choice in a Buick and suffers no performance penalty behind the big block. The TH400 in this ragtop is the original, numbers-matching piece, complete with a crystal clear VIN stamp on the driver's side pan rail and a Stage 1 specific code BB tag is riveted to the passenger's side. Out back there's an indestructible 12-bolt full of 3.42 gears on a Posi-traction limited slip, which deliver neck-snapping acceleration and remarkably comfortable high-speed cruising abilities. The frame wears a correct coat of satin black, and the beautifully finished floors are the perfect background for the restored suspension and braking systems. And if there's a more beautiful muscle car wheel than the Buick chrome Rallys, I haven't seen it. On this car, they are also wearing correct G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas bias-ply tires. The glittering white vinyl "notchback" interior is bright enough to require eye protection. The white is the ideal choice in a convertible, especially a bright orange one, because it avoids two common problems with black interiors: excessive sweating on a hot day and the appearance of the Great Pumpkin. There's fresh foam under those new seat covers, so the car feels like new from behind the wheel, and the dash pad and instruments have been completely restored. New black carpets show no signs of wear, and the door panels don't even have that slight depression where the driver might rest his elbow. As I mentioned, the A/C system is brand new and blows ice cold, and this car also carries an optional 8-track tape player, which is mounted below the dash and separate from the AM radio. Overhead there's a professionally fitted white power convertible top that stashes itself behind the seats in seconds, where it's hidden by a matching white boot. Thanks to the archives at the Sloan Museum, there's a lot of factory documentation with this Buick. In addition to the original owner's manual and warranty booklets, we also have a 1972 Buick/Opel advance information booklet, a reproduction window sticker, a copy of the original build sheet, and a letter stating that this car may have been a special test vehicle used by GM; which might explain the replacement block and the low VIN number and options package believed to be shared with 24 other Zone Office cars. There's also a beautifully presented display board with a complete listing of this car's features and options as well as a CD full of restoration photos. You'll also get the Concours Gold award from the GS Nationals-winning first prize there is as good as it gets. The car also won a gold award at the 2010 Buick Performance Group's 2010 national meet and is officially registered with the GS Stage 1 Registry. Finally, it includes receipts for much of the restoration work, detailed right down to the transportation charges getting it to the facility before the work even started and totaling more than $90,000. Rare, fast and beautiful, this Buick GS Stage 1 is for the discerning collector who knows the difference between a nice car and a great car. Big block A-body convertibles remain top-quality investments, and Buicks are starting to see some movement after decades of living in their corporate cousins' shadows. Already a documented prize-winner at the very highest levels, this lovely convertible represents the end of the great muscle cars. If you've been looking for something different to add to your collection, this GS is awfully hard to beat! About this auction & rk motors charlotte Please note that all sales are binding and final.
