Not only is this award-winning hardtop a first class show queen that presents much nicer than when it rolled off the assembly line, it also wraps original sheetmetal around an original Hemi drivetrain that's logged only 20,811 miles. If you're looking for some tough, investment grade muscle that's fun to look at, a blast to drive and ready to hit the show circuit as soon as it rolls out of our showroom, congratulations, you've found your next classic! BODYWORK/TRIM It seems only fitting that a super clean and equally fierce B-Body, like this impressive Belvedere, would begin its life in the golden California sun. Fast-forward to the late 20th century where the solid hardtop, still owned by its original purchaser, was thoroughly researched and carefully documented. And step in to the early 21st century when the car benefitted from a professional, ground-up restoration that was completed in October of 2013. When you're restoring a classic of this caliber, it's always good to start with an unmolested body that retains as much authentic feel as possible. Accordingly, this GTX's thorough reboot began with solid, all-original sheetmetal that was stripped, tightened up and eventually reassembled by Classic Garage Automobile Restoration of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Once the stage was set for paint, Chris Lidgerwood of Spokane, Washington's Extreme Customs sealed a sweet coat of correct Bright Blue Metallic base in tough and glossy clear. That pigment and metal work, tabbing out at roughly $31K, was complemented with restored stainless, original emblems and an array of correct trim that includes a tint-free windshield, a fresh vinyl roof, a manual driver's mirror and chrome drip rails. And today, this Plymouth rolls as one stunning, arrow-straight showpiece that, in 2015, was bestowed a Goodguys Mopar Muscle Pick and a Goodguys Award of Excellence. ENGINE Authenticated by a famous 2468330 casting number and October 10th, 1966 casting date, the car's original, 426 cubic inch Hemi benefitted from a completely documented rebuild that was conducted by Hemihaines of Daytona Beach, Florida. As Plymouth's top option for power hungry gearheads, Chrysler's legendary elephant block utilizes cast iron heads, an oversquare bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. All that high performance hardware spins in a familiar Hemi Orange block, which hangs requisite Organisol-coated valve covers over correct, low-restriction exhaust manifolds. Oxygen is supplied by a polished and decaled air cleaner, which rides original Carter carburetors and a correct aluminum intake. Compression is sparked by Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables, which are snapped onto a correct points distributor. And a correct, 26-inch radiator utilizes pliable hoses and old school squeeze clamps to cool combustion. Visually, the body-matched engine bay is both clean and accurate. Thanks to impeccable upkeep, the big mill cruises just as well as when it rolled out of the restoration shop. And naturally, a roster of correct ancillaries includes items like factory decals, a reproduction MoPar battery, an old school washer reservoir and a monochromatic brake booster. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Park this pristine GTX on a lift and you'll find a fully sorted undercarriage that's been finished to the same exacting standards as the car's impressive engine bay. Glossy blue 2-stage protects solid, original floors that probably haven't seen much daylight since the car's restoration. Behind the stalwart engine, an original A833 4-speed twists power to an original Dana 60 that's fitted with a correct Sure Grip differential and correct, 3.54 gears. That drivetrain rides a factory-spec suspension, which mixes correct power steering with correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. The car's correct dual exhaust system centers an H-shaped crossover in front of factory replacement mufflers and polished stainless tips. And power scorches the pavement through original, correctly painted steelies, which spin correct 7.75-14 Firestone redlines around correct Plymouth hubcaps. INTERIOR Open this Plymouth's solid doors and you'll find one of the coolest interiors ever bolted behind a big block engine. BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a highly detailed, rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2013, this fully sorted Charger mixes killer street presence with classic MoPar attitude. Residing in Massachusetts for the entirety of its 47-year existence, the car was purchased by its second owner at a neighborhood yard sale in the summer of 1984. That owner, intent on conducting a slow and steady restoration, eventually ended his plight two decades later when the car's current owner purchased what amounted to a rust-free, original body and many boxes of parts. And, down but not out, this mighty Dodge would spend the next eight years safely packed away, with 2012 kicking off a 2-year, no-holds-barred restoration. The car's arrow-straight body, which is original metal save for a few patches in its rear window channel, was completely stripped, lightly massaged and thoroughly block-sanded into a collection of virtually flawless surfaces. Once those surfaces were completely clean and fully prepped, their all-business demeanor was reanimated in smooth DuPont 2-stage that reflects correct Bronze Metallic pigment. And today, this exclusive, lust worthy classic rolls as a spectacular 'show and go' piece that's so much fun it'll make you feel guilty! There's just something about a broad-shouldered Dodge that appeals to pretty much everyone. Whether it's 'wow factor', a sense of strength or simple surface detailing, this coupe's hard-edged, modernist panels convey classic Chrysler charm via clean and chiseled aesthetics. Chrome-cased original carburetors, rebuilt by Harms Auto of Spokane Valley, Washington, work with a high performance, cast iron intake to supply a perfect mixture of fuel and air. Compression is sparked by high quality Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables, which are jolted by an original, factory-tagged distributor. And resultant combustion is cooled by an original, 26-inch radiator that's fitted with fresh hoses and old school squeeze clamps. Visually, the car's Bronze engine compartment is clean and understated... Well, as understated as a classic Hemi can be. Thanks to a thorough rebuild, conducted by the experts at Hemi Haines, the car performs just as well as when it rolled out of the showroom. And there's quite a few restored, original parts, like an old school fuel pump, a rebuilt alternator, a rebuilt starter and a rebuilt wiper motor. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under this pillarless B-Body, glossy floors frame a solid chassis that's been massaged far beyond factory standards. Like its Hemi V8, the car's original 4-speed, which is branded with a matching partial VIN, needed very little work to be in tight, like-new condition. That stalwart gearbox sends power to a correct Dana 60 rear end, which is equipped with correct 3.54 gears. At the front of the car, Chrysler's beefy Hemi suspension utilizes original torsion bars, an A12 sway bar and original power steering components to make quick work of big bumps and tight curves. At the back of the car, that same Hemi suspension hangs original, correctly staggered springs at the sides of a leak-free fuel tank. Stops come courtesy of correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust is handled by correct, true-dual pipes, which bend around an original, H-shaped crossover, factory replacement mufflers and original resonators. And all this MoPar goodness rolls on original steel wheels, which spin 225/70R15 BF Goodrich redlines around Bronze paint and fratzog-branded center caps. INTERIOR Inside this awesome Dodge you'll find a well-fitted interior that, with the exception of carpet and headliner material, is completely original. The firm front bucket and rear bench seats display no significant signs of wear. In front of those thrones, a crack-free dash hangs rebuilt factory gauges beside a correct radio delete.
