Up for sale is a rare 1969 Plymouth GTX 440 4 speed Dana 60 Shute grip posi . This car has been sitting for 28+years it ran when the owner pulled it into the garage , the motor is not seized it turns over . The car needs a good going over but one of the cleanest cars I've seen in a while . There is no rot on the floors or the frames at all , no rot on the bottom of the quarters or fenders but there is some bubbling on the roof under the vinyl roof and the paint by the back window has lifted but not rotted , the pass door shows some bubbling on the bottom . And the chrome needs attention , the missing parts are in the trunk he never finished the restoration . I was going to get it running and driving but I have too much going on right now, I did some research and decoded the trimester tag , and it's pretty rare car one of 4004 4 speeds and less than 600 with track pack from what I understand , please if you have any questions please call me Jon @ 1-631-872-1839 I will be more than glad to answer them the best I can . THE ENGINE I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS ORG OR NOT , I WAS TOLD THE TRANNY IS AND SO IS THE REAR END THEY ARE ORG. Here is the trim tag decode ,I hope this helps you I spent a lot of time decoding . 32114 262026 9A251368 915 596 605 26 1X 6R A4 A4 P6X X9. Available with the same ground-pounding big blocks as its bestial brothers, the GTX was a refined alternative for the guy who wanted serious performance wrapped in line-topping class. This MoPar Nationals award-winner, 1 of roughly 3,000 GTXs produced for the 1971 model year, is the kind of classic that'll show, and go, just as well as any square edged '60s fodder. And, speaking of numbers, the car wraps an original 440/3-speed drivetrain in a fantastic, five-figure restoration. When it comes to rare American Muscle cars, it doesn't get much better than Plymouth. If you're ready for some old school Detroit metal that can be enjoyed without fear, take a look at this stylish GTX! BODYWORK/TRIM This B-Body's thorough restoration began when its solid shell was meticulously stripped, lightly massaged and carefully coated in correct Sassy Grass 2-stage. Once cured, that pigment was detailed with black war paint, appropriate "440" callouts and a vivid deck decal. And, with everything fresh and ready to roll, the car was buffed to a clean and substantial presence. Take one look down the profile of this sweet Plymouth and you'll see whittled panels that have been straightened and finessed far past anything that rolled out of the factory. Pull the car in to the sunlight and its glossy glow accurately reproduces Chrysler's voluptuous, 'fuselage' design while offering a level of showmanship that can only be achieved with today's advanced paint technology. And, in summary, it all adds up to one super slick, all-American muscle car that, admirably, is a bit outside the MoPar norm. Unlike many striped and decaled creations, which tend to throw good taste out the window, this awesome coupe seamlessly balances a cool personality with flashy good looks. At the front of the car, a wide, "GTX" branded grille hangs bright headlights between a polished bumper, clear parking lamps and small chin spoilers. At the top of that grille, a peaked hood centers small signal indicators in front of like-new glass, straight stainless trim and a body-matched mirror. At the sides of that hood, cupped door handles, bold "GTX" emblems and detailed rocker trim highlight smooth, professionally finished bodylines. And at the back of the car, a second polished bumper hangs tilted taillights between a large spoiler and slotted exhaust tips. ENGINE Lift the hood and you'll find an original, 440 cubic inch Super Commando V8 that supplements a correct 2536480 casting number and July (7) 21st (21), 1970 (70) casting date with a matching partial VIN. Almost as feared as Plymouth's storied 440 6 Barrel, this proven mill, a very common member of the RB family, was designed to combine great performance with staunch, relatively mild road manners. Oxygen whips through the car's Satin Black, dual-snorkel air cleaner to a big Carter 4-barrel, which is bolted to a factory-spec intake. At the front of that intake, a familiar points distributor sequences spark between a MoPar voltage regulator and MoPar Electronic Suppression cables. At the sides of that intake, Hemi Orange valve covers perfectly contrast correctly restored exhaust manifolds. A stalwart MoPar red cap kicks everything in to motion. A Comp hydraulic, flat-tappet cam ensures combustion. Cooling comes courtesy of a 26-inch Chrysler-stamped radiator, which rides in front of pliable MoPar hoses and simple squeeze clamps. And aesthetically, the entire engine bay looks spectacular, from its correct markings all the way to its old school washer reservoir. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION This Plymouth's chassis specs leave little question as to why Chrysler's B-body architecture was such a huge hit with performance car fans. Take a step under our lift and you'll find a tough ol' stoplight skeleton that's been carefully refurbished to appear just as it rolled off St. Louis' storied assembly lines. Behind the thumpin' big block, an original A727 Torqueflite twists power to a correct Chrysler 8.75-inch rear end. Below that proven drivetrain, a familiar front torsion bar and rear leaf suspension has been completely rebuilt to include correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. Opposite that over sprayed chassis, armored floors sport everything from a fresh fuel tank and fresh fluid lines to correctly coated wheel wells. Turns come courtesy of correct power steering. Exhaust is handled by free-flowing, 2.5-inch pipes, which jettison cooked dinosaurs through an H-shaped crossover, throaty mufflers and slotted stainless tips. And power meets the pavement through chrome Magnum 500s, which spin F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around polished center caps. INTERIOR If you're like us and prefer your muscle cars flashy, you'll definitely appreciate the contrast exhibited by this coupe's striking interior. The car's vivid perches are firm to the touch, featuring pliable covers that present very well. In front of that bench and bucket combo, a warp-free dash frames factory gauges, factory air conditioning and a small AM/FM radio in bright wood applique, fine silver trim and an orange "GTX" emblem. Below that dash, a wood-trimmed and black-dyed console centers a premium Chrysler stereo in front of a T-shaped shifter. At the base of that console, "GTX" branded floor mats protect fade-free carpet. At the sides of that carpet, white door panels unite optional power windows with ornate stainless and a sprinkle of faux wood. In front of the driver, a familiar Chrysler Tuff Wheel laps stainless-trimmed foot pedals. And behind the passengers, a restored and decaled trunk features a correct jack, a full-size spare tire and a fresh mat. It's because a select few are as unique as snowflakes, and this 1969 Plymouth GTX is a true 1 of 1 with the documentation to back it up. And when a numbers-matching 426 Hemi coupe survives with low mileage like this, bidding wars usually break out. The 65K miles on this car are believed to be actual but are not documented. The GTX was the gentleman's muscle car. Many people were not willing to go to the expense of premium rapid transit, and instead opted for its Road Runner sibling. Today that makes the GTX one of the most respected and rare Mopars around, so you are already going to gain gawkers from far across the car show field. As they get closer, the compliments will start with the paintwork; and you'll be able to tell them it's a professional respray of the factory-correct B7 Jamaica Blue. They'll start to admire the details like the red pinstriping, pristine brightwork, matte black hood stripes, and optional Magnum 500 wheels w/redline tires; and this will be the time you'll take out the factory buildsheet and Galen Govier paperwork that shows this Plymouth was built with an option series that is currently one-of-a-kind. The gentleman's attitude continues inside with an interior that harmoniously blends luxury and performance features. The black bucket seats appear factory fresh, giving you an idea of how much someone cared for this car. Almost everything you can see or touch feels new, including the seat covers, door panels, and carpets. There's hints of wood paneling on the dash, doors, center console, shift knob, and even three-spoke sports steering wheel. Besides just the extra wide speedometer, the driver gets a full gauge package that includes temperature, ammeter, and a rare factory tachometer. The best part of this heavily invested interior is that everything works, right down to the ambient lighting and power windows. This one even carries the original (and rare) R22 AM/8-track radio, although you can also hook in your iPod now to play some more modern tunes. But honestly, the radio is secondary to the soundtrack that comes from the power under the hood. The engine bay is completely filled with the one thing that everyone wants in a classic Mopar a numbers-matching Hemi advertised at 425 hp! Yes, the callouts on the air grabber hood were not lying. Not only does it look great with the big, bold Coyote Duster topper, but the motor has only averaged 1,400 miles per year over its lifetime. This is the kind pedigree that will get this bad boy muscle car invited to the top concours events. But as much as the world will want to see your surviving Mopar, you'll likely be too busy adding miles to the odometer. After all, when you put your toe into this Hemi and open up the dual four-barrel carburetors, the dual exhaust make the kind of howl you can hear all the way across town... and that's just too much fun to resist. Plus, it will never take too much convicting to go for a Sunday drive thanks to easy features like the power steering, front disc brakes and the three-speed automatic transmission. This GTX has all the right features to make this investor-grade Mopar irresistible to take out for a spin. It only takes one hand to count how many other GTXs had so many of these features, and that's why you should use your one hand to pick up the phone and call today. 1969 Plymouth GTX for Sale 1969 Plymouth GTX for Sale Stock # 0148-TPA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. The 'coolest of the cool' that's survived almost five decades of vehicle downsizing trends, fuel thirsty gearheads and stoplight fisticuffs? Well, you don't have to worry about getting pinched back to reality this time because this killer 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX is a highly original, fully documented MoPar that's been professionally restored by some of the best names in the business! But wait, there's more. Not only is this award-winning hardtop a first class show queen that presents much nicer than when it rolled off the assembly line, it also wraps original sheetmetal around an original Hemi drivetrain that's logged only 20,811 miles. If you're looking for some tough, investment grade muscle that's fun to look at, a blast to drive and ready to hit the show circuit as soon as it rolls out of our showroom, congratulations, you've found your next classic! BODYWORK/TRIM It seems only fitting that a super clean and equally fierce B-Body, like this impressive Belvedere, would begin its life in the golden California sun. Fast-forward to the late 20th century where the solid hardtop, still owned by its original purchaser, was thoroughly researched and carefully documented. And step in to the early 21st century when the car benefitted from a professional, ground-up restoration that was completed in October of 2013. When you're restoring a classic of this caliber, it's always good to start with an unmolested body that retains as much authentic feel as possible. Accordingly, this GTX's thorough reboot began with solid, all-original sheetmetal that was stripped, tightened up and eventually reassembled by Classic Garage Automobile Restoration of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Once the stage was set for paint, Chris Lidgerwood of Spokane, Washington's Extreme Customs sealed a sweet coat of correct Bright Blue Metallic base in tough and glossy clear. That pigment and metal work, tabbing out at roughly $31K, was complemented with restored stainless, original emblems and an array of correct trim that includes a tint-free windshield, a fresh vinyl roof, a manual driver's mirror and chrome drip rails. And today, this Plymouth rolls as one stunning, arrow-straight showpiece that, in 2015, was bestowed a Goodguys Mopar Muscle Pick and a Goodguys Award of Excellence. ENGINE Authenticated by a famous 2468330 casting number and October 10th, 1966 casting date, the car's original, 426 cubic inch Hemi benefitted from a completely documented rebuild that was conducted by Hemihaines of Daytona Beach, Florida. As Plymouth's top option for power hungry gearheads, Chrysler's legendary elephant block utilizes cast iron heads, an oversquare bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. All that high performance hardware spins in a familiar Hemi Orange block, which hangs requisite Organisol-coated valve covers over correct, low-restriction exhaust manifolds. Oxygen is supplied by a polished and decaled air cleaner, which rides original Carter carburetors and a correct aluminum intake. Compression is sparked by Chrysler Electronic Suppression cables, which are snapped onto a correct points distributor. And a correct, 26-inch radiator utilizes pliable hoses and old school squeeze clamps to cool combustion. Visually, the body-matched engine bay is both clean and accurate. Thanks to impeccable upkeep, the big mill cruises just as well as when it rolled out of the restoration shop. And naturally, a roster of correct ancillaries includes items like factory decals, a reproduction MoPar battery, an old school washer reservoir and a monochromatic brake booster. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Park this pristine GTX on a lift and you'll find a fully sorted undercarriage that's been finished to the same exacting standards as the car's impressive engine bay. Glossy blue 2-stage protects solid, original floors that probably haven't seen much daylight since the car's restoration. Behind the stalwart engine, an original A833 4-speed twists power to an original Dana 60 that's fitted with a correct Sure Grip differential and correct, 3.54 gears. That drivetrain rides a factory-spec suspension, which mixes correct power steering with correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. The car's correct dual exhaust system centers an H-shaped crossover in front of factory replacement mufflers and polished stainless tips. And power scorches the pavement through original, correctly painted steelies, which spin correct 7.75-14 Firestone redlines around correct Plymouth hubcaps. INTERIOR Open this Plymouth's solid doors and you'll find one of the coolest interiors ever bolted behind a big block engine. Billed as the 'Gentleman's Muscle Car' and finished in correct Black vinyl, it brings a real sense of class to a platform with a solemn and brutish nature. Front and center, a correct combination of bench and bucket seats frame a correct fold down armrest. In front of those seats, a classy dash frames decidedly retro telemetry above a rare Reverberator radio. At the sides of that dash, ornate door panels complement correct door toppers. Those panels are sandwiched between a tight headliner and clean carpet, which frames an original Inland shifter. In front of the driver, a correct, 3-spoke steering wheel frames a chrome, Plymouth-branded horn ring. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hangs a fresh mat and correct jack over an original spare tire. HISTORICAL INFORMATION In addition to significant historical provenance, this Plymouth's substantial documentation includes Galen Govier VIN, Fender Tag and Broadcast Sheet decodes. This is a true muscle car for the masses. Turn the key and feel that dual carb Hemi demand attention.Description 38,904 miles 426 HEMI, dual Edelbrock carbs 425 hp Automatic Documented, Certified Sometimes referred to as the gentleman’s muscle car, the Chrysler Corporation unveiled the GTX in 1967 and concluded production in 1971. During this short amount of time the car went through several body style changes yet still adhered to its sophisticated appearance. As speed enthusiasts know, it was the coveted Hemi engines that made these cars what they were then and what they are now--in demand! For 1969 the air grabber hood became a functional dual facing unit and Chrysler added two flat-black racing stripes down the hood. The ‘69 also saw upgrades including an improved suspension, camshaft with larger ports and valves, chrome exhaust tips, and front disc brakes. Under the hood was an 8-cyl. 426cid/425hp Hemi engine with 2 4bbl carbs. The exterior of this car is as it should be--straight and shiny with properly fitted panels. The chrome bumpers are in very good condition and the wheels and redline tires are simply awesome. The glass, lights and lenses are in very good condition as well. The interior is done in familiar black vinyl and includes a touch of wood grain finish on the center console, doors and across the dash which is in nice condition. Seats edges are very clean. The chrome plated solid state AM radio dials, wiper switch and horn are in very good condition. The GTX is comparatively rare today due in-part to its high cost relative to the Plymouth Road Runner. Clean originals are worth seeking out, not only because of that Hemi horsepower, but because they were better equipped when compared to most other muscle cars during that time. Note: This car is well documented and also Galen V. Govier certified. Please watch for more details and photos coming soon. At the Motor Car Group, we're enthusiasts first. We want you to enjoy your new car from the minute it's delivered and the trailer door drops. Before a car leaves our shop, it's gone through comprehensively, both visually and mechanically. We do more than just kick the tires, though: We fill your tires with nitrogen, road test (if the weather permits us here in Cleveland!) and clean it inside and out. We buff the paint using a three-step process immediately before it's taken away so that it gleams when it arrives. Every car we sell, from Sunday drivers through the rarest exotics, is meant to be driven--get out there! If you have any questions before, during or after the sale, do not hesitate to contact us. This 1969 GTX packs a numbers-matching 440, a freshly restored interior, and a long list of options that make it an A-list ride for any Mopar fan. Refinished in its original W1 Alpine White, making it a relatively rare beast, this gorgeous GTX's restoration was completed a few years ago and still looks decent, although there are a few signs of age today. Those massive quarters are tough to get right but they look quite good here, the gaps are awfully sharp, and fresh satin black rockers and stripes give the big, white machine a nasty disposition. The satin black hood stripes were properly painted on, adding a sinister look that's all out of character for the GTX but totally awesome to look at. There's also a correct grille with red accents to go with the inserts on the hood and proper GTX badges were affixed to the lower quarter panels. A fresh black vinyl roof was installed, matching the original texture, and hiding no surprises underneath, and we have to admit that we really like the look of the black roof on a white car, especially with those stripes. The chrome bumpers are in very good condition and if you're a Mopar fan, you're going to dig the fender-mounted turn signal indicators. The black bucket seat interior appears to be factory fresh, giving you an idea of how much someone cared for this car. Almost everything you can see or touch is new, including the seat covers, door panels, and carpets, and the only possible demerit is some bubbling under the faux wood panels in back, but it's pretty minor. Optional gauges include temperature, ammeter, oil pressure, and a rare factory tach (sadly, not operational), and the center console includes the familiar Mopar shifter, albeit topped with a wood knob that's ideal for the upscale GTX. This one also carries the original (and rare) R22 AM/8-track radio, although it's been disconnected in favor of an AM/FM/CD head unit discreetly tucked under the dash. In the massive trunk there's a new mat and a full-sized spare tire with jack assembly, and the texture on the quarter panels strongly suggests that they are original to the car. This car's biggest claim to fame is the 375 horsepower 440 under the hood. With matching numbers, it was fully rebuilt to stock specs and runs superbly. The engine bay is nicely detailed with Hemi Orange paint, a correct air cleaner assembly, and a set of beautifully finished exhaust manifolds. Other important details are the reproduction hoses and clamps, a new ballast resistor on the firewall, and a set of finned valve covers that aren't quite correct but look great nonetheless. The 727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic has also been rebuilt and snaps through the gears even with all that big block torque churning through it. In addition, it now spins a tough 8.75-inch rear end, which includes 3.23 gears, so it's a nice highway cruiser that isn't handicapped at the stop light grand prix. The floors were replaced and the workmanship is quite good, so no worries there, and a reproduction dual exhaust system has just the right rumble. Magnum 500 wheels are a perennial favorite and carry redline radials for modern handling and vintage looks. Mopar fans, don't miss this opportunity to own a matching-numbers, fully sorted big block GTX with an unusual color combination. This particular 1967 Plymouth GTX has just two owners, a rock-solid documents package, and just a single repaint, making it a great car with no skeletons in its closet. You already know we're suckers for Chryslers angular styling, and the '67 GTX was probably the pinnacle of the design, as everything would change in 1968. The GTX is clean but muscular, an insanely attractive combination that includes twin hood scoops and chiseled character lines along its flanks. The car shows about 87,000 miles and we're inclined to believe that's an authentic number, because this sucker is very, very clean. It was repainted once a few years ago in its original RR Yellow, and that repaint is holding up extremely well. The shine is appropriate to the era and while it shows a few signs of use, the look is that of a car that has been loved all its life. There's also a contrasting black vinyl top, which not only give the GTX a grown-up look but also emphasizes the cantilever styling that is this car's hallmark. The chrome and stainless trim is almost entirely original, so there's some wear and tear, but the overall look works really well, with nothing standing out as too nice or too deteriorated. The love shows. The beautiful black vinyl bucket seat interior is completely original, and if that doesn't convince you that this car has led an easy life, nothing will. The seats are in excellent condition with only minor stretching in the front buckets, but otherwise excellent. The tooling down the centers of the seats was a big part of the upmarket appeal of the GTX, and with a center console and a full array of gauges, it feels racy. The gauges themselves show a bit of age but they all work properly and there's always something special about sliding behind the wheel of a quality Mopar and grabbing that oversized wheel. The factory radio is still in the dash, although it's no longer operational, the lone demerit in what is otherwise a very impressive original car. The trunk is likewise well-preserved, with a correct original mat and spare tire hiding underneath. This GTX is fortified with its original 440 cubic inch Super Commando V8, which was rated at 375 horsepower by the factory. The twin-snorkel air cleaner tips you off that this isn't a garden-variety engine, and the unique exhaust manifolds were a hallmark of Chrysler big blocks for several years. The intake manifold has been upgraded and there's an electronic ignition module inside the distributor (the original parts are included with the car), but otherwise it's original and in outstanding condition. Corporate turquoise engine enamel, chrome valve covers, and proper hoses and clamps all give it a proper look and you can't argue with the seamless flow of torque this engine generates. Its' backed by a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and an 8.75-inch rear end as well as a recent dual exhaust system that sounds just right. The underside is unrestored, so you'll want to skip the mirrors, but there's exactly zero evidence this car has ever seen inclement weather. It rides and handles beautifully and those black Rallye wheels give it a predatory look that suits it just fine. Documented with a Chrysler Corporation Broadcast sheet and original fender tag, this is a wonderfully well documented car that's ready for its third owner to take care of it. First, it's got to be cool. This numbers-matching Plymouth GTX certainly fits that criterion. Next, you have to be able to sit in the car, move it 10 feet, and already know it's clean, unmolested and original. One look under this beast confirms that. The documentation has to be in order. And, again, this pavement-pounder hits all the right marks with an original drivetrain, an original fender tag and an original broadcast sheet. Finally, you have to enjoy driving the car as much as you enjoy looking at it.... See what we mean? Speaking of documentation, let's have a look at that original broadcast sheet. Here are some highlights: PP1 - Bright Red exteriorS6X - Black interiorB - Black side stripes83 - 440 cubic inch Super Commando V8301 - Black vinyl top395 - Heavy duty A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission404 - 3.23 rear axle408 - Sure Grip differential421 - Music Master AM radio44 - F70x14 Redline tires456 - Power steering478 -11-inch drum brakes486 - Console564 - Bucket seats573 - Woodgrain steering wheel580 - Chrome Magnum 500 wheels691 - Sold car Sold new by Artwin Motor Sales of Brooklyn, New York, and spared from the typical ravages of city life, this slick Plymouth is the beneficiary of a high quality, professional restoration that began with solid, mostly-original sheetmetal. That sheetmetal, which includes an NOS driver's fender, was painstakingly stripped, sanded and massaged to better-than-new condition. Once those massaged panels were correctly aligned, a smooth coat of Chrysler code PP1 Matador Red was laid under bright rocker stripes. And the result is an ultra-straight, fully detailed pavement pounder that, thanks to its glossy pigment, literally glows under our bright showroom lighting. Every bit of this Mopar's bright ornamentation is extremely clean, lending excellent detail to the aforementioned two-stage. At the front of the car, $1,200 worth of restored grille hangs a bold "GTX" badge between four halogen headlights, a re-chromed bumper and crystal clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, a war-painted hood centers subtle, "440" branded scoops between a small "PLYMOUTH" script and correct turn signal indicators. Above that hood, like-new glass rides between a flashy chrome mirror, well-maintained trim and a clean vinyl roof. Below that glass, slab-sided body panels hang straight rocker guards and aggressive "GTX" emblems between dent-free wheel lips and old school Chrysler door handles. And at the back of the car, a fully restored valence anchors crystal clear tail lamps beside a second "GTX" badge, a wide-set "PLYMOUTH" script, a second re-chromed bumper and spotless stainless exhaust tips. Tilt the car's hood and you'll find an original, 440 cubic inch RB V8 that's marked with a correct "D440" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. More popular than Chrysler's famed Hemi, and almost as feared as Plymouth's 440 6 BBL, this Super Commando V8 was designed to offer an exceptional combination of speed and civility. Oxygen transitions from a correctly decaled, organisol-coated air cleaner to a '69 4640S carburetor. At the front of that service replacement carb, electronic ignition sequences fire into a fresh set of Autolite PROFESSIONAL Series plug wires. At the sides of that distributor, Turquoise valve covers perfectly contrast ceramic-coated, long-tube headers. Cooling is supplied by an original Chrysler radiator that's cinched to pliable hoses via simple Corbin clamps. And power is provided by a reproduction Mopar red cap that's restrained by a correct tie-down. Aesthetically, the car's bay looks spectacular, all the way from its black carburetor spring to its Pentastar washer reservoir and red inner fenders. And functionally, one quick turn of the ignition results in a rumbling, high performance idle: hot or cold. This Plymouth's chassis specs leave little question as to why Chrysler's B-body architecture was such a huge hit with performance car fans. Take a step under our lift and you'll find a tough ol' stoplight skeleton that's been maintained to the same high standards as the car's bright engine bay and shiny exterior panels. Behind the Super Commando, an original A727 Torqueflite 3-speed twists a familiar Chrysler Sure Grip around correct, 3.23 gears. Below that proven powertrain, a factory-accurate suspension has been methodically rebuilt to include power steering and power front disc and rear drum brakes. Above that proven powertrain, solid floors are layered in weather-resistant undercoating and dressed in items like a modern fuel tank and leak-free fluid lines. Exhaust is handled by high-flow TTI pipes, which jettison cooked dinosaurs via throaty, dual-chamber mufflers. And power grabs the pavement through chrome Magnum 500s, which spin 245/60R15 Uniroyal Tiger Paw redlines around stylish chrome center caps. Counter to today's obsession with technology and convenience, it seems old school American muscle cars only needed vinyl hides, a bit of wood trim and essential instrumentation to strike a perfect balance between 'instantly classic' and 'perpetually cool'. And when you open this coupe's solid doors, you'll find a correct cockpit that seamlessly melds legendary Mopar power with a stylish, no-nonsense driving environment. At the center of the floors, firm front bucket and rear bench seats are stuffed with good padding and topped with black, Plymouth-embossed covers. At the sides of those seats, original door panels hang chrome-seated armrests below bright wood trim and glossy black frames. At the bottom of those panels, good looking carpet is protected by "GTX" branded floor mats. On top of that carpet, an original console anchors a curved shifter between factory courtesy lamps. And, opposite that console, a tight headliner is stretched around straight roof bows and a small dome light. The car's original dash hangs rebuilt gauges beside an original AM radio and hidden Clarion CD player. In front of the driver, an original steering wheel spins satin spokes around a padded column cover. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk is authentic all the way down to its full-size spare, refurbished jack and plaid-patterned mat. The sale of this square-jawed Chrysler includes an original broadcast sheet, a copy of that broadcast sheet, a reproduction window sticker and a small stack of historical documentation. If you're the kind of hardcore GTX fans we are, you probably agree that it doesn't get much better than this Matador Red Mopar. With a numbers-matching drivetrain, high quality restoration and mostly original parts, this "gentleman's muscle car" is a great cruiser - especially considering its smooth power steering and highway-friendly, 3.23 gearing. And, with a nice finish, good provenance and massive originality, it's essentially perfect to show AND drive! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. In the world of electronic fuel injection and computer diagnostics, even late model dealerships look a little uncomfortable working on pre-OBD1 cars. There are many independent mechanics and shops that may be able to help, but putting your prized classic in the hands of a stranger is a leap of faith at best. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. We believe this car has had 4 owners since new. Purchased from the original owner in the late 1980's by Reggie Jackson when it had around 18,000 miles. Reggie had the car resprayed by George Thomas (Mariposa Body) in the original color of Turbine bronze over a very clean body in the early 1990's. The car was then sold to Gil Garcia who kept the car until being acquired by the current owner about 10 years ago. The paint has held up very well with only a few little nicks from use and the chrome and trim still look great. All glass is nice. Interior is original with the exception of the carpet. Original seat foam was replaced with a foam kit from Legendary Auto Interiors and then the original factory vinyl seat covers were reinstalled. Auxiliary gauges were installed to keep tabs on the Hemi. Dealer installed AM/FM radio works. Factory tachometer and dash gauges still work. Interior is in very nice presentable condition.Instead of freshening up the original engine, the current owner decided to go with a 472 ci short block built by Dave Timmons from Mopar Engines West in Fremont, Ca. The upper end (heads, intake, etc.) are the original components. The carburetors are correct numbered 1967 units. MSD distributor with hidden box. TTI headers and custom TCI dual exhaust. The engine runs and sounds incredible and runs very well on pump gas. The engine currently has under 2,000 miles on it. The original 727 Torqueflite was replaced with a TCI Super Streetfighter Torqueflite good to 750hp. The transmission has approx. 100 miles on it. The original radiator was recently redone. Included with the purchase is the original shortblock, distributor, exhaust manifolds and transmission. The suspension is stock and has recently had the upper and lower control arms bushings replaced and the ride enhanced with Edelbrock IAS shocks. The rear is the original 8.75" Sure grip unit with 3.23:1 gears. Original front calipers have recently been rebuilt. Running 14x6 Magnum 500 road wheels as originally equipped with Redline radial tires. This GTX has been built to be a great driver. Original parts have been set aside to preserve them. Drives incredible. Runs and sounds awesome. Torque on demand. Excellent investment that can actually be driven.Features & Options AM/FM Stereo Automatic Transmission Chrome Wheels Coolant Temp. Excellent investment that can actually be driven. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
