Just listen. The original owner of this vehicle, Al Pincus, purchased the DMC-12 new from a dealership in Florida, but just a few short months later that dealer closed. However, Pincus was determined to learn the history of this car, more so than most other Delorean owners at the time. So, by tracking down the owner of the dealership, he was able to get in contact with John Delorean himself. At the time Mr. Delorean was living on a large property in New Jersey, alone and in rough shape, due to the recently concluded court case, which was investigating various federal charges. Pincus visited him multiple time and continued a friendship with John for years. Pincus decided to invite Mr. Delorean to be the Grand Marshall at the Buckingham Auto Show. Mr. Delorean accepted and drove this very DMC-12 into the opening ceremony of the show, as well as to a personal breakfast before the show. Sadly, Mr. Delorean passed away a few years after the two became close friends, but the DMC-12's legend lives on. This DMC-12 was driven, signed and used as a feature car by Michael J. Fox in his T.V. show Spin City. Even cooler, Fox himself mailed the original owner "a large box" filled with the original "non-destructive" props used on HIS Delorean to be used on this very one. Delorean only built 6700 cars in 1981 and this is one of the first cars released in 1981. This car is a highly collectible first year model with a manual transmission. I am an Industrial Designer and I have owned this car 21+ years. In that time I have enjoyed completing an extensive restoration.Stored in a climate controlled garage. Never driven winters.This car was in the first two wheels and wings auto shows in Vail, Colorado. Runs great, just add gas!THIS IS NOT a car that has been languishing in somebody's wet garage because it won't start or in storage under a tarp untouched since the early 80s. Look at my pictures then look at others pictures of other Deloreans for sale. My car was not pushed out of the garage or storage facility and the tarp ripped off for the photo. You can buy a cheaper non driving problematic or incomplete Delorean if you like. Depending on how much of a project you' re looking for. Or you could buy this one and just add gas. Interior: The interior is in great condition, black interior with black leather seats. All gauges work, the seats have typical leather wear, passenger side seat has a small hole (see pic), carpet is clean and undamaged, all original floor mats are included. OEM Parts Replaced: All OEM replacements parts purchased from the DeLorean Motor Company and are originally made for the car. Original French alternator has been professionally rebuilt.Many OEM electric parts and relays have been replaced. Both electric window motors and tracks have been replaced and adjusted. They work like new.Speedometer works perfectly; cables have been replaced. A new battery was recently installed that works perfectly. No sagging doors! Featuring gull-wing doors with a fiberglass "underbody", to which non-structural brushed stainless steel panels are affixed, the car became iconic for its appearance as a modified time machine in the Back to the Future film trilogy. Approximately 9,000 DMC-12s were produced between 1981 and early 1983. Powered by a rear-mounted V6, this specific car has a rare automatic transmission. I acquired this car from a Dealer who bought it from a long term ownership from a private collector. Shortly before the collector sold it, the car received some interior restoration including new carpet and seat upholstery. The interior on this car is beautiful and looks nearly new! up for sale is a clean 1981 Delorean. 5 speed with black leather interior. This car was owned by the orginal owner for over 20 years. I have all the maintainace records all the way back to the day she bought it. I have everthing from the original bill of sale to a bunch of bills from Delorean One and everthing in between. I bought it about a year ago. After I bought the car, I took it to Delorean Performance Industries in Akron, Oh. He is a delorean Specialist and has done all the work on this car. He started off up refurbishing the frame, It was in good shape, but just need freshing up. From there he went through the entire car. I'm not very mechanically inclined, so I wanted all the major stuff taking care of since it is a 30 year old car. All the belts and hoses were replaced, whole brake system was updated. The relays were updated, the air conditioner was repaired and now blows ice cold. The clutch was replaced and the transmission was replaced with a rebuilt unit from DMC midwest. The whole fuel system was update incuding a new tank and fuel distributor, all old fuel was removed and lines cleared out. The car is also set up with Delorean Performance Industries spec 2 set up. The spec 2 set up includes delorean.com stage 1 exhaust, Nology Ignition upgrade, K&N filter, Cold air intake and Delorean Performance Industries custom cam set up. The Delorean Performance Industries Spec 2 comparable to the stage 2 set up available from delorean.com. The car is also lowered with a Eibach suspension set up from DMC Midwest. The car is now alot more fun to drive and I don't have to worry about anything breaking.
