The car is in safe driveable condition. I used it as a daily driver for the summer 5 years ago and have kept it on the road and driven reguarly since then. 80k miles on it. 5k of those put on in the last 5 years. The fluid drive transmission works great, upshifting and downshifting on the fly. The brakes, master cylinder, slave cylinders and all of the brake lines were replaced 3 years ago. Rear seals, and all wheels bearings were replaced 2 years ago. New tires 4 years ago with less than 4000 miles on them.

The "Black Pearl" was my daily driver from 2006 to 2008 and has been garage kept ever sense. It's all original OEM solid car that runs and drives. I put new brake pads, rebuild carburetor, replaced lights, ignition coil, sparks plugs and wires. It started up every hot and cold morning and ran great in snow and summer. In 2013 I down sized vehicles was going to make this my 4 door grocery and kid getter, but ran across a 1963 Chevy C-10 instead. My wife and I are very close to this car but, I just inherited a 1950 International Farm All Cub from her dad that has more sentimental value. I love this car but need to let it go to someone who can put the time and attention it needs. It begs to be driven!! I have a full shop manual with data and specs for every component. The transmission shifting issue is most likely electrical solenoid but this manual gives you specs for rebuilding every peace of this car.

1948 Desoto 2dr Sedan, one of only about 12,000 made over the 46/47/48 production run, and seldom seen. Car is in very good condition for it's age, original black patina paint, and virtually rust free! Couple spots inside the cabin, near the body mounts, and the spare tire wheel well, and misc small pin holes in trunk and drivers floor. Has rebuilt/replacement 25" 218Cu in flat head motor and dry clutch 3spd transmission (No fluid drive) Original Oil bath air cleaner has been modified to run a modern paper filter Modern spin on oil filter set-up installed. (Original set-up to go with car) New aluminum radiator 4 x Brand new 7.60 x 15 Coker Classic 3" wide whites, with new inner tubes OEM Rims blasted and repainted Have bare OEM 15" steel rim as a spare. Complete Brake system serviced and/or rebuilt where required. Column shift, and Clutch linkage torn apart, cleaned, painted, lubed, adjusted and re-installed New gas tank and sending unit All glass is in place, RH side vent window is cracked in half with top part missing, and most other flat glass is damaged in some way. I have all new flat glass for entire car ((clear) not installed yet)) New interior firewall insulation added. Re-keyed locks. Ignition and doors match, truck lock with it's own key. Installed all NOS pedals (Gas, brake and clutch) Nice condition 1950 Desoto - Door and window cranks I have installed a radio delete and clock delete plates, but have the original units to go with car. Dash has been removed, stripped and repainted in Satin black. All dash chrome, trim and knobs were either cleaned, polished or replaced with better pieces. (no glove box liner) Converted to 12V negative ground and Running all mopar electronic ignition, alternator and charging system, including a custom slant six/flat head 6 electronic ignition distributor I built. Modern 12V wiring system by EZ wiring, all new wires and connections, everything works! I bought the wiring system with all the potential circuits needed for a decked out hotrod...AC, Power windows, electric fuel pump etc. I tried not to cut the wiring to short, and all the circuits I did not need, or use, have been left at their original lengths, and taped up and tucked away for future upgrades. Oil, gas, volts and temp gauges have been switched to modern units in original dash cluster. Dash cluster was not cut up, only the gauges were modified. They look good, and all work fine. Car Also comes with, Very nice condition chrome flying woman hood ornament OEM wiper arms, but no blades NOS rocker moldings, NOS front turn signal chrome bezels NOS rear fender stainless molding. (Can't recall if it was LH or RH side) Used "Spitfire" L6 Head can go with car if wanted Front shock re-location brackets from late 40's Dodge truck Burgundy/red carpet kit Nice (Older re-chromed) chrome bezels for rear tail lights and 3rd brake light I have rectangular clear glass lenses and chrome bezels from a VW van for back up lights, if the buyer wants them...not installed yet. Nice replacement front bumperettes, straight with nice original chrome. Front Visor, used, no side brackets (not a Fulton) Drivers side "Mopar" spot light. And Lots of misc parts, new and used, that will go with car if wanted. Runs good, drives fine around the block, stops well. "I do not believe the car is road worthy, and should be transported" Car still needs work, it's a project so that should be expected! But I believe that the hardest parts are done, here are a few things that still need work. Needs interior upholstery, was very moldy and dry rotted, so most was torn out. Seat frames and springs in very nice condition. Needs new exhaust, I used leftovers from the garage to piece together a basic system. Needs a new speedo cable, and a longer E-brake cable. The E-brake system works fine with a small chain I added to the end of the shorter cable. Think it needs new inner and outer tie rods, and possibly other drive train and suspension related parts, and bushings. Passenger side Interior heater not hooked up to cooling system, but pressure tested core and was OK. Was dis-assembled, cleaned, lubed and re-installed. Originally a dual heater system...LH side heater was removed to make room for the new fuse panel and wiring system. I brought the car up from southern California, and has been registered in BC Canada. Very easy for car to move back across the Canada/USA border. Had never planned on selling it, but life sometimes dictates otherwise....;) I have tried to list the car accurately, but Please contact me with any questions before bidding. Bidders with poor rating may be removed from bidding. If you do not have the funds to pay for the car before bidding..."Please Do Not Bid!". If you bid this is a legal and binding contract. Failure to pay will result in a complaint with Ebay and negative feedback left. Car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty offered or implied. All transportation arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer, unless specifically agreed to by both seller and buyer. $500 USD non-refundable deposit by payapl is required within 24 hours of auction end. Remaining funds expected within 7 days, and can be sent by certified bank draft, or direct bank transfer. Seller has up to 30 days to arrange shipping and transportation of vehicle. Any longer and a $50 USD per week fee will be charged to seller, and must be paid before vehicle is released to buyer or transport company. I will not end the auction early.

As we enter the retirement chapter of our lives, we will periodically sell the pride and joys of our private west coast classic car collection. This 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe P15 convertible, a west coast native, is a favorite... Touting a no expense spared, complete frame off restoration and complete mechanical rebuild. One repaint of the original Sumac Red color, a two stage paint, with excellent fit and finish. The body was completely stripped to bare metal, before epoxy primer and paint. It is absolutely stunning, with no rust or body related issues. Investigation shows a near perfect body, with no evidence of any prior collision or detrimental issues. The top is vacuum operated. It works amazingly fast with all new lines, just as it did when new. It has a tan Haartz canvas top with a new glass rear window. The bows are tan and in excellent condition as well. The interior is a tan vinyl leather. Seats are in great condition... Carpet as well. All the glass, including the windshield, side glass and rubber gaskets are excellent. Regulators work easily as they should. All new wiring. All the chrome and stainless trim have been refurbished and in excellent shape. The dash has been restored, all original and looks excellent as well. All the gauges are clear and have been rebuilt. They all operate excellent, as they should. Wipers (original vacuum) and heater are in great shape. Window and door weather strip and rubber are excellent. The original 218 CID L-Head motor has been completely rebuilt, with hardened valve seats to accept current fuel. It runs remarkably smooth. All new hoses. Starts immediately every time and never over heats, even within our desert climate. An absolute pleasure to drive! Completely rebuilt original transmission, with the overdrive option for comfortable highway driving.. Brand new General bias ply tires. Hub caps and trim rings are excellent. Wheel wells look clean and fabulous! The undercarriage is second to none! Absolutely pristine and detailed... Painted, no black spray bombs here. I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to have an undercarriage like this. It looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Every part like new! While it would technically be called an older restoration due to the passage of time since it was restored, the car still presents as a freshly restored car, having been used carefully and sparingly since restoration. The Adventurer is tour de force of 50's styling elements and one of Virgil Exner's most beloved designs. There are so many great styling cues on this car I could go for hours but those of you who know these cars don't need to be told this stuff anyway. This is an exciting car and a rare opportunity to acquire of the best designs from the 50's, an early muscle car to be sure! We have many more photographs of this car, please click on any image to be taken to our full-size image list! The DeSoto was an American automobile marque, manufactured and marketed by the now-defunct DeSoto Division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1928 to 1961. The DeSoto logo featured a stylized image of Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto. The De Soto marque was officially dropped November 30, 1960, with over two million vehicles built since 1928. Chrysler wanted to enter the brand in competition with its arch-rivals General Motors, Studebaker, and Willys-Knight, in the mid-price class. Shortly after DeSoto was introduced, however, Chrysler completed its purchase of the Dodge Brothers, giving the company two mid-priced makes. Initially, the two-make strategy was relatively successful, with DeSoto priced below Dodge models. Despite the economic times, DeSoto sales were relatively healthy, pacing Dodge at around 25,000 units in 1932. In fact, when DeSoto first came out in 1929, it broke the first-year sales record, with 81,065 cars sold, and was not beaten until 1960 by the Ford Falcon. However, in 1933, Chrysler reversed the market positions of the two marques in hopes of boosting Dodge sales. By elevating DeSoto, it received Chrysler's streamlined 1934 Airflow bodies. But, on the shorter DeSoto wheelbase, the design was a disaster and was unpopular with consumers. Unlike Chrysler, which still had more traditional models to fall back on, DeSoto was hobbled by the Airflow design until the 1935 Airstream arrived. Aside from its Airflow models, DeSoto's 1942 model is probably its second most memorable model from the pre-war years, when the cars were fitted with powered pop-up headlights, a first for a North American mass-production vehicle. (The Cord 810 introduced dashboard hand cranked hidden headlamps in the 1936 model year.) DeSoto marketed the feature as "Air-Foil" lights. After wartime restrictions on automotive production were ended, DeSoto returned to civilian car production when it reissued its 1942 models as 1946 models, but without the hidden-headlight feature. Until 1952, DeSoto used the Deluxe and Custom model designations. In 1952 DeSoto added the Firedome with its 276-cid Hemi engine. However, in 1953, DeSoto dropped the Deluxe and Custom names and designated its six-cylinder cars the 'Powermaster' and its V8 car remained the 'Firedome'. At its height, DeSoto's more popular models included the Firesweep, Firedome, and Fireflite. The DeSoto Adventurer, introduced for 1956 as a high-performance hard-top coupe (similar to Chrysler's 300), became a full-range model in 1960. In 1955, along with all Chrysler models, De Sotos were redesigned with Virgil Exner's "Forward Look." DeSotos sold well through the 1956 model year. That year, for the first and only time in the marque's history, it served as Pace Car at the Indianapolis 500. For the 1956 update Exner gave the DeSoto soaring tailfins fitted with triple taillights, and consumers responded by buying record numbers. Introduced in 1956 as a sub-series of the top level DeSoto Fireflite series, the Adventurer was originally marketed as a limited production two-door hardtop, and available in a white/black/gold color scheme only. The first Adventurer came with a hi-output 341 cubic inch Hemi V8, dual exhausts and custom appointments and trim. Standard trim included dual outside side mirrors, gold wheel covers, radio,[2] electric clock, padded instrument panel, windshield washers, full instrumentation, and heavy duty suspension. A total of 996 cars were sold in its first year.
