This is a good older restoration of a classic Packard 1800 Convertible Coupe. We purchased her in 2004, replaced the carpet, wood grained the dash obtained a perfect hood mascot and have enjoyed driving her on tours, to car shows and just for Sunday outings as she is always reliable and fun to drive, not to mention a head turner -- not too many of this type around nowadays. Due to our age and having too many cars, we are 'culling the herd' a bit by selling a couple of our 'babies'. She has a few minor paint chips and flaws due to her age and because she is a driver. As shown in the pictures, there is a slight dent in the trunk lid from someone in the past closing it without releasing the hinges and a slight scratch on the driver's door as well as other small areas that can be corrected easily. Tires are good and about 3 years old. She has an overdrive transmission that is not connected, newer carpet, wood-grained dash and miscellaneous extra parts -- starter, generator, fuel pump carburetor AND a 1940 110 Packard engine as well. Someone before us had replaced the original engine with a 1946 6 cylinder (exactly the same as 1940 as Packard produced it for many years). Mileage is an estimate only as I cannot guarantee it due to the age of the car. The engine has the overdrive transmission but it is not operational due to procrastination on my part. Sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied, buyer is responsible for shipping, insurance and payment within seven days. (mileage is estimated as true miles are not known) The NADA values for this year and model are:Low retail $18,800.00Average Retail $36,100High Retail $73,900.00contact via Ebay

For sale in our Orlando showroom is a 1940 Packard 120. The Packard brand was well established as a premier American luxury coach builder by the time the great depression rolled around. Many custom and luxury coach builders were going defunct like Auburn, Duesenburg, Essex, Hupp, etc etc which caused Packard to enter into the mid priced 8 cylinder class to gain a sales lead. Luckily this move proved to be successful as the other major luxury brands were falling around them Packard managed to make it till 1958 when Studebaker discontinued the name. The 120 was quite revolutionary for Packard as well, it introduced the Safe-t-Flex suspension system which was Packard%26acirc;??s first foray into unequal length front suspension that gave this big cruiser better alignment and better braking capability. This Packard 120 in our showroom is a very well kept example of the brand. The interior on this vehicle is adorned with all of the unique pre war materials such as burl wood and Bakelite which has managed to weather the years quite well. Under the hood of this tank is the gigantic straight 8 Packard engine that shows very well and of course the old school turtle horns still function and are probably the loudest horns we%26acirc;??ve had at this showroom. The 3 speed column shift does a phenomenal job of transferring the surprising amount of torque that the straight 8 throws down. Decked out in a nice grey paint scheme this Packard will be a sight at the local car show, even more so with the period correct wide white wall tires. There have been a few subtle upgrades to the car to make things a little more manageable such as an aftermarket temp gauge and amp meter. Located in our Orlando Showroom this 1940 Packard 120 can be seen including HD pictures and videos at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Packard\'s beauty and engineering expertise is nicely showcased in this wonderful sedan that\'s big enough for the whole family or any formal occasion. The paint is in beautiful condition throughout, showing only minor imperfections such as very small rock chips. The body has been accented by a small red pinstripe around the exterior of the car. The body is stunning and also has factory side skirts and a sunvisor. There are also curb feelers on the passenger side of the car.%26nbsp; Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition and do appear to be original for the car. The engine compartment is clean and nicely detailed. The Packard sits upon a set of paint matched steel wheels with Packard hubcaps and beauty rings. “Ask the man who owns one too many.” 1949 PACKARD EIGHT STATION SEDAN A deluxe wooden powder keg of Detroit’s finest buttercream, this is a beautifully preserved, meticulously detailed, faithful example, done for the love of the project. A west coast car, sorted, strong and solid, this is Packard’s “Double-Duty Beauty,” fully dressed, with a handsome boatload of extras. KING OF THE CARRY-ALLS… HEAR, HEAR! QUEEN OF THE HIGHBALLS… HICCUP! Country club charm. Carry-all convenience. Grand as an Adirondack lodge. With luxurious seating for six and 21 square feet of cargo space, Packard’s “Double-Duty Beauty” chauffeured post-war giddy, tipsy ballroom-hopping parties all night long, into quiet, red-eyed retreats to field and stream come first light on the weekend. Whether hauling fishing kit and hunting rifles, or blue-ribbon flats of flowers for 4-H Club competitions, it is ruggedly constructed and dutifully well-rounded as an Octoberfest beauty queen tapping kegs of Olde Frothingslosh on a 1949 auto parts calendar page. No matter what adventure it inspired, it’s elegance and engineering is without a doubt, pure Packard. According to Robert J. Neal’s wonderfully researched publication, PACKARD 1948-1950, the utilitarian Station Sedan is a unique, rare model. This exclusive, bobbed boat tail beauty is one of 3,800 examples hand-built in a very limited run, before the model was discontinued by the end of 1950. How many survived almost seventy years of inevitable decay, neglect and Mother Nature’s entropy? I’ve seen recently that they make a super-deluxe ventilated chicken coop when the Terminix® contract is up, the wheels and glass are shot out into the weeds, frame down to the ground and only the glovebox will hold a day’s fresh eggs, because the rest fall past the upholstery carcass through floors of swiss cheese to the fox. ENDLESS HOURS. COUNTLESS HANDS. A FINE EXAMPLE FROM COAST TO COAST. This particular Station Sedan benefits from extensive preservation of it’s existing personality from caches of NOS spares and even more, the talent, enthusiasm and discretion of Packard Club members who built old and new back together, so seamlessly, that it’s soul remains intact. Since 2010: 4,000 miles after an extensive cosmetic restoration. 1,000 miles on current mechanical preservation. ( Danger! Run-on story and potholes of detail ahead. ) - VIN data plate G272898 ( CA DMV renumbered, long ago. Possibly on top of the Packard renumbering of Station Sedans up to three times before selling these slow moving, expensive models over three calendar years. ) - Series 2201 - Briggs body style tag: Model 2293-5025 - Firewall theft tracking number: 837728 - Paint Scheme: W ( Arizona Beige ) - Trim Code 614: Tan leatherette & pinstripe vinyl - 120-inch wheelbase - Gross weight: 4,080 attractive pounds Assorted date stamps: - Clock: 9-48 - PPG/Herculite/LOF Safety Plate glass:10-48 - Speedometer: 11-48 ( This car was a respectable restoration candidate over ten years ago with 70,000 miles on the clock. ) A COSMETIC RESTORATION SO EYES NEVER TIRE IN ADMIRATION. Mae West opined, a woman should cultivate her curves, “They may look dangerous, but they’ll be impossible to avoid.” This Station Sedan has become again a compelling feast for the eyes, making a Vargas pin-up break from the wooden fruit crate box utility that defined wagon design since the drawl of a horse. All Packards are famous for being a sight to behold. This car is no exception, possessing an organic shape that is as much a piece of minimalist sculpture as it is a sumptuous way to get from here to there. WOOD: About 2/3 of the original honey-toned wood was preserved with a few unsalvageable pieces used for templates blended in new maple. Stripped, sanded, stained and then finished with 15 coats of marine-grade polyurethane by San Diego woodie expert, Bowden Auto Body, Escondido, CA. All refinished sections were reinstalled as factory fit, with new 3M Di-Knoc used on the door panel and tailgate inserts. BODY & PAINT: Also at Bowden, all body panels were removed and completely disassembled for blasting, sanding, prime and paint, with new metal replaced only in a front floor section. Interior floor and door shells eventually coated in POR-15 and layered in sound dampener. Factory panel fit prevails with hardware, gasketing and seals as needed between all metal and wood. Oh, and Arizona Beige? It’s nothing but pure buttercream icing deep enough to slice. TRIM: All chrome and stainless ( except for dash components ) was removed and either re-chromed or polished by the best shop in Los Angeles, Van Nuys Plating, and it shows. All rubber seals around glass, windows, doors and vents were replaced using Steele Rubber products. The wood graining around the tin window trim was redone for all four doors and both rear compartment windows, six frames total. The dash is untouched, still lovely in it’s original wood grain and chrome jewelry. INTERIOR: A complete, new and correct interior was installed by a talented upholstery shop, Armand’s Auto Upholstery, Walnut Creek, CA, whose owner owned a Station Sedan and knew them well, having restored a few west coast examples with expertise. Seat fabric, door panels, kick panels, windlace, headliner, and rubber flooring were all replaced using correct materials. Seat frames were painted. The rear cargo area plywood and stainless luggage rails were refinished with beautiful, showroom effect without compare. A removable, square-weave, wool carpet is also installed over the original-style, ribbed mat rubber flooring. Overall, proper fit and finish throughout, very well done. Finished with seat belts for five and factory floor mats. From the hushed closure of the bank vault doors, the cabin is quiet, solid and as exceptional as the exterior. The seats are firm again. The windows mechanisms roll with ease. The glovebox is the only perfect square on the whole curvaceous car! Under the original wood-grained dash, seat adjustment, dash controls and pedal release, all mechanical and electrical controls are precise and move effortlessly, operating like new again. Under the dash is tidy, and stock, with NOS switches and rebuilt overdrive cable. The Victrola-sized tube radio was removed to ease access for new harness and improve around-town gas mileage. The only uninvited guest is a hidden toggle switch for the auxiliary, inline fuel-pump. CHASSIS: Underneath, the frame and body panels are exceptionally straight and clean, without signs of accident or repair. Thoroughly steamed cleaned and wire brushed from front to rear, with removal of loose undercoat and debris from entire front clip, wheel wells, across floor panels and rockers to under gas tank, then coated in only chassis black oil-based paint. Seams sealed, no surface rust, solid as the topside of the car. A MECHANICAL RESTORATION TO REINTRODUCE MOTOR TO CAR AND COMPANY. P is for power. Taking inspiration from the powerful reputation Packard earned from V-12s to Merlins, here’s the “fire-breathing” upgrade that the factory eventually proposed to accelerate the Station Sedan behemoth into a 23rd series. But history hadn’t been so kind. So better late than never. Out with the tired, original 288 and in with this fresh 327 engine rebuilt by Ross Miller of Speedwell Garage. Ross, a master mechanic and engineer, National Packard Club judge, forum advisor, international ambassador and overall skinned-knuckle, rolled sleeves, hands-on flywheel for all roadworthy endeavors in a Packard. 327 c.i. Thunderbolt H.O. head ( iron-1953 ) w/ 4-barrel Carter carb & manifolds 180 hp, 5 bearings, solid lifters Engine H402789, cast 5-24-49 ( H=23rd series, donated from a low-mileage Super ) Note: The anemic, original 288 c.i., 135 hp, 2-barrel, G267172 CE, dated 11-9-48 ( G=22nd series ) is available as a cheap core, or fully rebuilt, from Ross Miller, Speedwell Garage, Parton, MD 21120 ( 410-357-4561 ). With the M back in motor, every component also under the hood has been rebuilt or replaced with NOS and NAPA to give this car a complete, new start on a second life with renewed cooling, vacuum, heating, electrical and fuel systems. Nothing untouched, nothing left to guess, fiddle or curse. Other assorted mechanical chores crossed off: COOLING Radiator, heater core, fan and control valve thoroughly rebuilt, with fresh hoses and coolant. ELECTRICAL With rebuilt 6v starter, generator, the car starts immediately without any hesitation and drops to idle with all lights shining bright through a complete, new Rhode Island wire harness, bumper to bumper. New ignition components, battery, master kill switch and belts. All interior switches click and snap properly. The vacuum-operated wiper motor is rebuilt and functional again for the occasional cloudburst. WHEELS / SUSPENSION / DRIVETRAIN: Two tons of controlled stop, drop and roll…The front suspension is re-bushed and tight again along with new front and rear shocks, rear leaf springs and bushings. Alignment checked, the car stands perched on new Diamond Back radial white wall tires. Complete brake service with replacement of master cylinder, hoses, wheel cylinders, shoes and drums. Wheel bearings, axle half shafts and shims. NOS emergency brake cable found, installed and properly adjusted for most confidence. The steering, column shift, overdrive and transmission are precise, as expected. Chassis is fully greased. Rolling and floating above it all like a Macy’s parade balloon, this car is still as impressively smooth as Packard’s historic Straight-Eight reputation. FUEL The four-barrel Carter carburetor is rebuilt, the gas tank cleaned and sealed, hung on new straps. An auxiliary, in-line pulse pump is installed to back up the new engine-mount pump by toggle-switch. A new muffler and exhaust vent an aromatic spring of hi-test Jean Naté. CUSTOMER DESIGNED AND ACCESSORIZED, PACKARD ENGINEERING APPROVED. In addition to the modest factory specified R-9 overdrive and fresh air heater/defroster, this car includes the following installed factory options and dealer accessories: EXTERIOR OPTIONS: - Cormorant bonnet ornament - Front auxiliary bumper guard - Dual clear road lights - Front bumper license plate holder - Door-mounted rear view mirror set - Radio antenna - White wall tires - Stainless trim rings - Enamel hubcap medallions - Rear fender skirts - Rear fender, gasoline tank fill door guard - Dual clear back-up lights, ( 24th series ) - Exhaust pipe extension tip INTERIOR OPTIONS: - Visor mounted, service record vanity mirror - Compass - Floor mats - Accelerator wear pad - Supplemental dash control light bar - Radio blank plate - Courtesy lights - Cigarette lighter, ashtray and emergency light - Turn signals - Trip odometer - Clock - Original bumper jack, base and lug wrench ENGINE COMPARTMENT OPTIONS: -Firewall mounted auxiliary light -Oil filter canister -Oil bath air cleaner A STEAMER TRUNK OF EXTRA GOOD KIT AND CABOODLE. It’s so easy to appreciate where we’re going by having a look at where we’ve been. Ephemera, accessories and spares not installed, but included with sale: - Full key set for ignition, doors and glovebox ( not hatch ) - Owner’s manuals ( 22nd and 23rd series ) - Sales brochures particular to 1949 Station Sedan - The Golden Value of Motordom, Packard’s Golden Anniversary Full-line Dealer Album w/ booklets ( oversized binder, rare ) - Holiday Magazine, July 1948, featuring Station Sedan ad - Passenger door wood panel ( period damage exchange ) - Original horn button ( 30’s style enamel is installed ) - Period sun visor, unpainted - 1949 PA license plate matched set - License plate frame set ( mounted on matched 1949 CA plates ) - Life-like tone, push button AM tube radio - Electromatic clutch assembly - Assorted mechanical spares and touch-up paint - And to hold all the ephemera, a leather-clad 30’s/40’s era steamer wardrobe trunk as a posh reminder to this car’s intended duty. THE TRUTH ALWAYS LEAKS OUT. What chores are up ahead? The car is not asking for much more attention than what can be accomplished over another six pack or single-malt… I’ve got a fresh pinion seal to replace the one that is spotting up my floor. It’s not slinging, so no rush, no hurry. While underneath, the overdrive is asking for adjustment so the trans finds reverse every time when parked, still in overdrive. The new temp sender in the head occasionally sends a false reading to the gauge. I’ve been thinking about installing a nice new oil pressure / water temp gauge cluster discreetly under the dash for accurate touring purposes anyway. Overall, this car is in fine health and at the ready. A man can never be lost when he owns a car that reminds him of a little something to do. Preservation always requires a little responsibility. The big bugs of perpetual nuisance have already been stepped on and smacked dead by an open checkbook. A CURVE IS THE LOVELIEST DISTANCE BETWEEN HERE, AND THERE, THEN AND NOW. It is an absolute delight to share with the enthusiastic every time it’s parked, abruptly turning as many heads and dropped jaws along the way as a string of firecrackers! Children clamor. Seniors hustle. Texting parents snap shots. Its well-endowed, portly shape floats quietly past, a shape so out of context today, parading like a whale, breaching amidst a sea of square automotive appliances, computer-designed for obsolescence. Once docked, Packard’s thoughtful human touch is its inspiring marvel, magic and mystery. Admiring conversation follows in its wake constantly, like the wisp of smoke trailing Buck Rodgers across the sky… If interested, you are encouraged to slip behind the wheel, the chrome and buttercream timber for a drive. It still has the scent of grandmother’s parlor, without the crystal dish of wintergreen mints, and the Flite-Glo instrument panel has a glowing luminescence at night that radiates like a jar of fireflies blazing brightly in the back of our minds, while quietly parked roadside in an owner’s imagination and memory. CUTTING TO THE CHASE. As a sincerely appreciative Packard club member, sometimes a man’s favorite car is his next one, and Just Ask The Man Who Owns One too many. There just is never enough garage space. An embarrassment of riches, cars like this are hard to catch and even harder to release. Getting a jump on spring cleaning, I’m needing to say good buy. Forget the gold rings and turtle doves. True love in a new year can always be found in a two-ton Packard hung up in a pear tree. Originally owned by a banker in Los Angeles who joined the Army and was stationed at Alamogordo, NM where the atomic bomb was developed. He took the car there and the Army talked him into selling it to the Army as a staff vehicle to pick up high level people at the train station such as Werner Von Braun etc. After the war was over, Dick Wetisel who grew up near the bank in LA and saw the car coming and going, tracked the car down by its VIN, and found it was being auctioned by the government . He purchased it and drove it home to Los Angeles from NM. He then started on a 25+ year long restoration. In 1991 Dick Waightnight purchased the car from Wetisel and after finishing the restoration took the car to Pebble Beach and won 3rd in class in 1995. The car was also shown at a CCCA event and awarded Premier Senior National First Prize. The car was then sold to its curent owner in 1996. The current owner plans to donate all proceeds from the sale the Boys and Girls Club. Taking a luxurious post-war Packard and adding a modern drivetrain, A/C, and a plush interior means that this is first-class transportation that will stand out just because it's unusual. At this price, you'd be crazy to pass on this heavy cruiser. The post-war Packards are excellent choices for a mild resto-mod like this. One, they're still full-sized cars, which means full-sized comfort. Two, they're insanely affordable. And three, they're pretty darned handsome in a 1940s aerodynamic sort of way. There's a much bigger pile of money than the price tag would indicate invested in this appealing red sedan. The bodywork is nicely done and we're guessing that this started out as a nice, straight car before any of the renovations began, because all four doors open and close with that solid feeling that modern cars just can't seem to duplicate. The glowing burgundy paint has a bit of metallic in it, just enough to make it really shine in the sun, but it doesn't look inappropriate in any way. It's got a few signs of use, because this car was built to drive, but having seen a lot of this car's siblings, we'll state unequivocally that this one is far nicer than most. Add in a lot of very nicely restored chrome, including the familiar Packard grille and the cool bumper-less front end treatment, and you get a car that looks like it should cost a lot more than it does. The exceptionally tasteful interior is pure Packard, from the seats to the woodgrained dashboard to the handsomely sculpted door panels. Everything is new, but the cloth upholstery respects the original design and looks very 1940s. The window garnish moldings and dashboard are woodgrained steel, not actual wood, and the work is so well done that it's hard to tell the difference. A modern tilt steering column has been fitted and there's a wooden steering wheel that seems to fit right in. The factory instrument panel remains, although the original big, round dials have been replaced by neatly installed gauges from Dolphin that look like they were custom made just for this application. A/C vents have been neatly installed in the dash and while the original radio is still in the center stack, a modern AM/FM/cassette head unit has been installed in a mini console just underneath. And as you'd expect, the trunk is massive, with a full set of carpets and a matching fifth wheel assembly. The original straight-8 is gone, replaced by a tried-and-true 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8. The massive engine bay needed no modifications to handle the upgraded powerplant, and it's supported by a larger radiator, power steering and brakes, and a 4-barrel carburetor. It's not dressed for show, it's purely functional, but that means it's also reliable and easy to service. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and exhales through a burbling dual exhaust system that's healthy but never obnoxious. The undercarriage is pretty original with clean floors and a heavy-duty frame and it sits right on a set of steel wheels with Packard hubcaps and 235/75/15 whitewall radials. Oddly, this 1930 Packard 733 is in such a superior class by its own today that you might never find a peer at car shows or concours events. Packards have always been about providing premium motoring, and this one is true elegance on wheels. The bodywork, chrome grille, lights, and all other major components show signs that they were in the care of someone who knew that maintaining did not mean fidgeting. Black is impressive on a vehicle this size, especially when it covers the body so completely. But, the real reason why it's so stunning is the intricate gold pinstriping that helps highlight this car so well - it's even inside the solid metal wheels. The paint is part of an older restoration, which actually just gives it the kind of gloss that will make people mistake it for an extremely exceptional survivor. The coupe body has an impressive presence on a car this large, and Packard's 133.5-inch wheelbase was actually the short one for the Standard Eights! This style gives you the option of having a closed coupe when you want personal elegance, and then the foldable rumble seat is there for everything from extra friends, to a place of honor in parades. Packard even included the side compartment for your set of golf clubs. Best of all, all of the chrome trim intact and has an impressive shine, including the "goddess of speed" hood ornament. Inside, the sumptuous interior has been restored to a very high level. The red leather seat is a pure attention-getter from the moment you simply open the doors, or open the rumble seat. It also coordinates nicely with the cherry wood on the dashboard giving this coupe an unparalleled elegance for its era. This kind of stylishness is repeated on the door with a combination of a wood and organic gray fabric, that also gets a touch of the bold red. There's even a retractable cigar lighter, which tells you the man who ordered this custom coupe was not yet feeling the effects of The Great Depression that would soon bring sales of premium cars like this to a trickle. Lift the hood to understand why Packards were a car to envy. Power comes from Packard's durable, and reliable, 320 cubic inch straight-eight, and the green and gray block is so long it looks like it belongs in a locomotive. It still embodies all the precise tolerances, and impeccable engineering for which Packard was famous. Just like the exterior, this one has a very nice restoration that has the engine bay slightly aged to look like the ultimate pristine survivor. This powerplant is mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and the complete drivetrain is believed to be original. This is the era before synchromesh, but tall rear gears means you can drive this car about wherever you want without much double-clutching. In fact, compared to other cars of the era, this Packard is a joy to take around town thanks to its multi-functional taillight and four-wheel brakes. A Packard was a sign of wealth and distinction when it was new, and the reputation has only grown as these elegant machines have become more rare. This one is a cut above, and even comes with documentation and paperwork such as the owner's manual. Finding another out there this complete, correct, and nice will be tough, and we know it one won't last in our showroom. This is an ultra rare car; only 100 were produced and only 12 known to still exist. Finished in Red over Saddle Leather interior with a tan top, this historical masterpiece is the epitome of pre-war elegance and sophistication. This 1941 Packard 160 Convertible Sedan is powered by her correct and believed to be original Super 8 356 cubic-inch engine. The motor produces 160 horsepower and has plenty of torque. Power is transmitted through her correct three-speed, column shift gearbox, the car runs and drives well, with good power and torque. It is self evident the the car was restored, and she remains in excellent condition. This car was once in the collection of noted Packard collector Jack Bean. In addition, the car is purported to have a connection with TV and big screen icon Lucy Ball, but we do not have the paperwork to back this up. This car is in wonderful condition. The interior leather is sumptuous with a great patina and look. The engine compartment is well detailed, and the underside is clean. All mechanical systems and running gear work as they should. The canvas convertible top is new and the mechanism restored. All of the Chrome trim is in excellent condition and all rubber is fresh. The car is in near show condition and could easily be brought to the show condition level. Designed by famed coachbuilder Derham, this luxury sedan was one of the most elegant body styles to appear on any automobile of the pre-war era. The Packard 160 and 180’s were powered by the famous Packard straight eight engine. For 1941, Packard's “19th Series” cars featured fenders which now incorporated the headlights, pushing the radiator forward and giving the cars the illusion of more length and more elegant appearance. Today, the Deluxe Convertible Sedan is both desirable and rare. It was one of Packard's lowest production models, indeed, in 1941 only 100 of these luxury cars were built (it is believed that only 12 are known to exist today). THE CLASSIC CAR GALLERY 3266 POST RD SOUTHPORT, CT 06890 203 256 9800 CLASSICCARGALLERY.COM 1941 Packard 160 Sedan Convertible “Lucile Ball connection, restored, gorgeous!!!” VIN I477-2027 The Classic Car Gallery is proud to present this 1941 Packard One Sixty Convertible Sedan. 1941 Packard One-Eighty LeBaron Sport Brougham CCCA 98.25 Score, Showed at Pebble Beach ......please be patient while the many photos load..... One of 100 made with only a handful of survivors left, many estimate to be no more than 20. Showed at Pebble Beach in 2003. Car was judged by CCCA in 2002 and scored 98.25 out of 100 points. This is CCCA senior car #2462 with it's known history dating back to the previous three owners over 25 years. Cosmetic restoration beautifully done in the early to mid 1990's including the extremely rare and correct Riviera interior. The engine was completely rebuilt by the Packard specialists at John Deere in Enquist, Illinois. The car has traveled about 5,000 miles since. Renowned collector known for his fastidious attention to detail, Dr. Rick Zeiger purchased it from it's previous owner in Chicago right around the turn of the century and made several improvements such as completely rebuilding the transmission, fully rebuilding the front end with the use of early style metal pivot points instead of rubber, as well as going through the entire cooling system assuring it's comfort and reliability. A previous owner tells me that the car was absolutely rust and accident free prior to it's exhaustive restoration. If you'd like more information regarding the One-Eighty, please drop me a note or call. Videos below as well as an extensive collection of photos in the slideshow area. Driven Rods & Rides 636-375-5210 4663 State Highway W House Springs Missouri 63051 ? ? ? ? 1928 Packard Phaeton 533 ? ? Description 1928 was a unique year for Packard and more specifically the Model 533. The fifth series Packard would be the last six-cylinder Packard built until 1937 when the motor was reintroduced. The phaeton was a new production body for 1928 and was built on the longer wheelbase of 133 inches. This 1928 Model 533 was a combination of the last year for the six cylinder and the first year of the Phaeton body. Few six cylinder cars were produced in 1928 since most buyers were opting for the larger 8 cylinder. This particular car is a wonderful example of 1928 Packard Model 533 Phaeton. Having gone through a complete restoration in 1985, the car has been well cared for since, being with only two owners; the last being since 1988 here in St. Louis. With its dual side mounts, wire wheels full weather kit and optional second windshield that was commonly installed by Packard dealers to make the car resemble the more expensive dual cowl cars the car is striking. This is an older restoration that does show some minor signs of age. There is some minor cracking to the lacquer paint on the front doors as well as to the driver’s side rear door. The paint on the fenders looks very good with no major spots of cracking, chips or scratches. The chrome and stainless trim on the car all looks good with on major spots of pitting or damage. Just some very minor pitting around the windshield and mirrors. The body is extremely solid with no signs of previous damage. All wood is solid and shows no signs of rot. The soft top is new and in wonderful condition. The top goes up and down with no problems and comes with a complete set of side curtains. Inside, the reupholstered seats are in great condition with no major wear showing. The wood dash is extremely solid with no cracking showing. Gauges are all in good working order as well as all lights and wipers. Within the last year, the car went through a freshening up. During this, they made sure all components worked, flushed the fuel tank and rebuilt the carb. In the rear, the optional fold down windshield looks great and gives the car a dual cowl look. The car also comes with a full set of side curtains. The inline 6 cylinder runs great and starts with ease. The clutch and three speed manual transmission performs with ease. No slipping of the clutch and shifts are done with no problems. The engine compartment is nicely finished and shows no leaking. The underside of the car is extremely solid as well as all of the wood. New white wall bias ply tires are wrapped around painted wire wheels. This is a previous AACA National 1st place winner and is said to be 1 of only 2 surviving Model 533’s in this body style. The car drives wonderfully and would make a great addition to any collection, a wonderful tourer or a base for a concourse restoration. VIN number is 154176 and the current mileage shows 655. This car is being sold out of a local private collection. Rest assured this is an absolutely gorgeous car with few flaws from tip to tail which we have tried to picture. We welcome any and all inspections and viewing. Vehicle Information VIN: 154176 Stock: 1928 Packard Phaeton 533 Mileage: 655 Color: red Trans: Manual Engine: I6 MPG: Drivetrain: 2wd ? 1952 Packard 300 I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. I am not a dealer.Just an amazing Packard! This was a car that we had plans to drive and show occasionally, but sometimes life has other plans, and we have decided to sell it to someone who we hope will give it a good home. I believe this will be both a fun car and a great investment for the next owner. Now you don't have to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks!! Wow, what a car.. "Ask the man who owns one!" Details/Features:288ci Straight Eight Engine Rare 3 Speed Manual with OverdrivePower BrakesAir ConditioningNew Wide White Wall TiresFender SkirtsBumper GuardsDeluxe RadioElectric Clock12 Volt Electrical SystemSeat BeltsRecent check up, tune-up, etc. The engine idles well, makes good power, and starts well every time. The transmission shifts smoothly. Steers and stops very easy! The power brakes take no effort at all and it steers super easy. Drives straight down the road with no unusual vibrations, pulling, etc. The speedometer and other gauges work great. Clock ticks, but radio is currently in-op..The Factory Packard air conditioning works! The car is an absolute pleasure to drive! If you're a Packard fan, but are scared of the Ultramatic Transmission, here's a rare opportunity.. The 12 volt system is a plus too (makes for more consistent starting). This is a beautiful car everywhere you look (exterior, interior, engine compartment, trunk, etc). Nice straight body and good under-carriage. Looks great at all the shows and cruise-ins! A regular trophy winner! Purchased in North Carolina and brought to Florida later in life ... It may not be a absolutely flawless or a 'perfect' car, but it SURE IS NICE! It will fit in your garage and look great there ;) I welcome any/all personal inspections from a potential buyer in person, but I will not work with inspection companies. Shown by appointment only. And in the 1930s, when the marque was tops in the luxury car market, elegant offerings like this magnificent Twelve rightfully earned the tagline 'Boss of the Road'. As smooth now as it was over seven decades ago, this defiantly massive convertible is the absolute pinnacle of pre-war automotive luxury. Enjoyed by only three owners, the car is a known, authentic example of one of the most desirable Classic Era Packards on the planet. As one of only 1,300 1937 Twelves produced, it has been awarded a National First Prize from the AACA and First Senior honors from the CCCA. And presently, it sits as a well-documented, professionally restored cruiser that's an elegant representation of some of America's best history! BODYWORK/TRIM The 15th Series was a conservatively elegant automobile that gave credibility to Packard marketeers' claims of products "as modem as an architectural design by Frank Lloyd Wright". Despite the same finely tailored lines and top-notch appointments, the brand's transition to more streamlined styling would be increasingly evident throughout the decade. But, at its core, the Twelve remained a Classic Era Packard, featuring a towering radiator shell, bullet-shaped headlights, a trademark chrome grille, flowing, skirted fenders, and a familiar 'Cormorant' hood ornament. ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN In the age of 16-cylinder luxury, the Twelve was one of the fastest cars you could buy for anything less than Duesenberg money. That said; the higher-powered offerings from Cadillac, Marmon and Pierce-Arrow could probably nip a Packard Twelve in a close race. But a modified mill like this roadster's 473 cubic inch L-head V12 certainly wasn't something to readily bet against. For 1937, the Twelve's running gear underwent the most radical redesign in its history. The car's traditional 3-speed synchromesh transmission was augmented with an independent front suspension, marketed as "Safe-T-Flex", a proven hydraulic brake system and steel disk wheels. This resulted in 15th Series Packards, most prominently the top-of-the-line 12-cylinder models, being widely regarded as some of the most driver-friendly cars of the Classic Era; with the smooth, effortless engineering of vacuum-boosted brakes and a vacuum-boosted clutch being particularly well-suited to modern roads. As such, the most desirable open body styles are only rarely offered for sale. HISTORY The Coupe Roadster pictured here is a known, authentic and exclusive classic that's believed to be 1 of only 69 builds. The car still has its original firewall tag. Its history is known all the way back to the 1950s. And, for over half a century, this drop-top was the prized possession of well-known Southern California enthusiast Bob Hance, who regularly displayed it at CCCA activities and Golden State Concours d'Elegance. In 2001, when Mr. Hance decided to sell his 2-owner gem, a ground-up, professional restoration was well documented via photographs and receipts. Naturally, that restoration involved impeccable attention to detail, featuring items such as correct pinstripe patterning, a correct leather interior, correct wool carpet and a correctly detailed engine bay. And the car wears many factory accessories including: a heater, a trunk rack, a correct 30-gallon fuel gauge indicator, a factory-installed AM radio that's wired to an under-car antenna and chrome wheel covers that are complete with Packard cloisonne emblems. Since that restoration the car has seen quite a few significant milestones, achieving CCCA Senior Premier status, being recorded as a 2009 AACA National First Prize winner and completing a 900-mile CCCA CARavan.
