Instead, cars like this 1968 Ford Torino hardtop are finding new homes and greater appreciation from guys who love seeing the way the factory did it and appreciate the feeling of a car that hasn't been torn down and rebuilt. For that reason, this Torino remains a special car. We suspect that the car had a repaint some years back, as a result you get a car that looks great but you aren't afraid to drive anywhere. But even as-is, it looks suitably vintage and contributes to this car's very appealing no-nonsense look, which is what original cars are all about. Survival rates on hardtop Torinos must be incredibly low, since you just don't see many of these at shows and cruise nights, but there's no denying that it's a handsome car. Compared to the fastbacks and convertibles, it has a somewhat formal look accentuated by restrained use of chrome. And there's just nothing like the sound of those doors closing on an original car, which also offers good gaps on all the panels, a tight feeling going down the road, and excellent factory chrome that's been lovingly polished from day one by just four owners. There's no question that the interior is entirely original, and while there's some where, there's even more evidence that this car has been loved. Black upholstery works quite well with the gold paint, eliminating the problems with many late-60s color combinations. The split bench offers lots of space for road trips and you'd be shocked that a 2-door car would have so much room in back, but that's the beauty of full-sized comfort. The four round instrument pods give it an aggressive look, even if the dials inside are only monitoring the basics, and it's worth noting that everything works, including the original AM radio. The woodgraining on the dash still looks pretty good, the dash pad hasn't been cracked or burned by the sun, and while you can probably get reproduction upholstery, nothing quite measures up to OEM. Heck, even the driver's door panel doesn't even show a little depression where the driver's elbow might have been resting over the past 45 years. There's also a massive trunk outfitted with an original mat and an ancient bias-ply spare. The 390 cubic inch V8 provides effortless performance and is unquestionably the car's original, numbers-matching powerplant. Still wearing Ford Blue engine enamel, it has a smooth confidence that makes this car a pleasure to drive at any speed and once again, there's an intangible feeling in a well-maintained original car that you can't restore into a project. Routine maintenance pieces have been conscientiously replaced over the years, keeping the car mechanically sharp, but it has never needed internal engine surgery and drives superbly as a result. The 3-speed automatic transmission is unobtrusive in operation, letting the 390's torque do most of the work, and with 2.75 gears in the 9-inch rear, this is the car you want on your next road trip. The underside is unquestionably original, but it's all surface scale and road grime, not cause for alarm. Styled steel wheels add a sporty look and carry 235/60/14 white letter radials. Extensively documented with maintenance receipts, an owner's manual, original bill of sale, and title documentation, this awesome Torino survivor makes a great impression. This Torino GT "Richard Petty" Edition is finished in Petty Blue over blue vinyl interior. An extremely rare and special car, it is one of only five ever produced. In 1969, Ford held a Charlotte 600 special sweepstakes in which the winners would receive one of these 428ci Cobra Jet Torinos, delivered to their doorstep by Richard Petty himself. 111 of these Torinos were built, but only five were optioned with the 428 Cobra Jet V8, and this car is one of those five. Richard Petty now owns two of the five 428 cars. These cars all came with a blank code on the data plate. Presented in its factory original condition and decoded by Kevin Marti, the car was built in Atlanta and finished on March 11, 1969. Options from the factory include the matching-numbers 428 Cobra Jet V8 and column-shift C-6 automatic transmission, 3.25 conventional rear axle, power steering, AM radio and whitewall tires. Other features include the Cobra Jet hood scoop, hood pins, front and rear bench seat, dual-exit exhaust system and Ford floor mats. Included with the car is the original Build Sheet, Deluxe Marti Report. Here is your chance to own a very nice piece of Richard Petty history. The car runs, looks and drives beautiful. We have all the docs on the car including some signed memorabilia from Mr. Petty himself. The car is for sale locally so we do reserve the right to end the auction early. Description 1970 Ford Torino FACTORY TASCA DRAG PACK!!!Marti Report Verified 1 of 241 TOTAL Production429 Super Cobra Jets 1 of 125 Total SCJ 4-Speeds Factory Medium Red Paint CarFactory Black Bench SeatFactory 3.91 Traction-Lok AxleFactory 4-Speed Close Ratio Transmission When talking High Performance, Drag Race Fords, no dealer name is better known than Tasca Ford. Tasca was one of the best known & largest driving forces behind the development of the famous 428 Cobra Jet engine. When the transition to the 429 came they lead the way too. They special ordered stripper versions like this car. The only options being the Drag-Pack, F70X 14 White Sidewall Tires and an AM radio. This was really as light as you could get a Torino with the exception of the radio. They also avoided the Shaker Ram Air and the Cobra options that would have been a dead give away to high performance car. This was basically a big bad wolf in sheep’s clothing. This GT has of course been repainted in what appears to be a rare & very cool Ford color from 1987, Dark Shadow Blue. The paint has imperfections you would expect from an older paint job, but still presents well. Easily nice enough to cruise around with your head held high in this Super Rare Drag-Pack. The panels line up well and the addition of the Shaker Ram Air Induction is really cool too. This is a very solid body with minimal rust for the breed. There are a couple minor bubbles in the front door corners and rear quarters but overall much nicer than most. The structure of the car is quite good. The frame rails are in good condition and upon close inspection inside them you can still see the galvanizing. The Factory Black Bench Seat Interior presents well. Again, this was the truest sign of a sleeper. Just a bench seat, no console. The carpet was just replaced with a new reproduction kit. The seat upholstery shows minor wear with no obvious separations or damage. The door panels look good and again show only minor wear. The dash pad does have the normal crack but overall it is quite forgivable with the cars age. Under the hood the original SCJ engine has been replaced with a 2-Bolt Main 429 CJ with the correct D0OE-R Cylinder Heads, Exhaust Manifolds and CJ Intake Manifold. It is reported to have low miles on the restoration though we do not have any receipts on the build. It runs strong though and will easily defend its heritage. A factory Shaker Ram Air System has been added and no matter if it is original to the car or not, it looks cool and does add some horsepower in the real world giving the Big Block an unlimited supply of cool air to breath. The 4-Speed Transmission was just professionally rebuilt and it wears the rare RUG AU1 tag code which calls out for a 70 Torino 429 Close Ratio with 31-Spline Output. The Hurst shifter works nicely with crisp engagement. It works well and can certainly stand up to the abuse. The 3.91 Traction-Lock Differential is still in place, housed in the ultra rare ‘N’ Case Nodular 9” Differential with 31 Spline Axles. This is bar none, the most copied and reproduced differential made. So if you are in the market for a Real Deal Muscle Car, one with fire breathing Big Block Drag Pack Power, this is quite possibly the car. Not only does it pack the fire power, you need to consider the upside of this car. Being one of only 125 TOTAL SCJ 4-Speed cars, not to mention that this is GT, not the Cobra, it is VERY likely a 1 of 1 car. Add in the Fact that this car came from the one & only Tasca Ford and you have a very valuable & unique part of Muscle Car history! This may be one of the best of the 1976 Ford Torino Elite's left out there... All original one owner car with only 31,605 miles on it. Well cared for always kept in climate controlled garage. Car Starts right up and runs great occasionally driven to maintain integrity. Car has the 351 cubic inch 2 Valve V8, soft cloth interior, vinyl top in great shape. This cars paint really shines! Complete numbers matching car! The only thing mechanically done besides routine maintenance was The carburetor was recently rebuilt just to make sure it was clean, also the front grill is broken not bad but glued together but I do have new one in the trunk just needs to be put in. I am more than happy to answer any questions you have and am willing to show the car in person. About Ford Elite In General: This classic car is a rare and limited production by Ford. As a attention grabber it is fun to drive. The Ford Elite is an automobile which was produced by Ford for the North American market from mid-1974 to 1976. The Elite was based on the Ford Torino, and was a two-door coupe intended to be, in the words of Ford's advertising, a "mid-size car in the Thunderbird tradition"—a more affordable personal luxury car than the Thunderbird, intended to compete with such cars as the Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the Chrysler Cordoba. It was essentially the concurrent Mercury Cougar XR-7 with a mild front end restyling to resemble the Thunderbird, different taillamps and center reflector, unique twin opera windows and large color-keyed vinyl moldings placed higher on the bodysides. The interiors were essentially identical save for upholstery styles and minor trim. Introduced in mid-1974, the Elite was considered a sub-model of the Torino. Although advertised separately, the side script said "Gran Torino Elite" and the car would be titled and registered as a Gran Torino. For 1975 and 1976, the Grand Torino name was dropped and the Elite became its own model using only the "Elite" script nameplates. In all three years, the car sold well. The Elite name was dropped after 1976 because the Ford mid-size range was being restructured. The Thunderbird was dramatically reduced in size and price for 1977 by moving the nameplate to the LTD II platform that replaced the Torino. In effect, the Elite continued restyled and marketed under the more-recognized Thunderbird name, as the previous full-sized Thunderbird was discontinued. With a top speed of 118 MPH it was not to be underestimated.

With a strong-running 351 cubic inch V8, it's the Blue Oval's answer to the ubiquitous A-body. Better still, it's a bargain compared to its bowtie-wearing rivals and quite a bit rarer to boot! Handsome and restrained compared to its fastback siblings, this Torino GT hardtop adds a bit of formality to the performance game. All the Ford hi-po styling tricks are in place here, including the hood scoop, rocker panel stripes, and styled steel wheels, so there's no mistaking it on the street. It was restored a few years ago, so it's not super fresh, but the code 2 Light Yellow paint shines up beautifully and this is definitely a car with presence. There's a ton of sheetmetal in those quarter panels but it's all quite straight and crisply rendered and panel gaps are decent all around. You don't see these cars all that often, so you'll find a lot of enjoyment in the little stuff, from the grille and the matching insert in the hood scoop, and the lovely tail panel and tight-fitting bumper. A few touch-ups here and there prove that this car has been loved and the overall look is one of a machine that's led a good life and doesn't have to make any apologies. Basic black is a high-contrast look for the interior, which also features bucket seats and a console. The seats are in fantastic condition for their age, and we strongly suspect that everything inside is original, which is rather remarkable. The instrument panel offers a quartet of round gauge pods seeming to grow out of the dash pad and the gauges inside are in good shape, with interesting silver faces that still show up pretty well behind lenses that are only a little faded. The original AM radio is still in the dash, but it's been superseded by a Sony CD player in the glove box, a really neat trick that always works well on older cars like this. The door panels show Ford's intentions with the Torino (Grand Touring), and unlike the Mustang, this Torino is big enough to have a good-sized trunk without needing a fold-down rear seat. And speaking of the trunk, it's fitted with a reproduction plaid mat, full-sized spare tire with cover, and jack assembly for a very correct look. OK, the real reason this Torino GT is special can be found under the hood: a 351 cubic inch V8. It's been augmented by a Weiand intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and an aluminum radiator, but the rest appears to be pretty original. The stock look is augmented by a set of chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid, which also wears a reproduction decal. It's pretty tidy under the hood with easy service access, even with those long-tube headers. The 3-speed FMX transmission was rebuilt in September 2015, and the beefy 9-inch rear just shrugs it off when you hammer the throttle. A recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system gives it an awesome Ford small block sound and you'll be impressed by how tidy it looks underneath for a mostly original car. Classic styled steel wheels offer a more sporting look than plain old steelies and it wears 215/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. Documented with an original owner's manual and maintenance records, this is a fun, affordable Ford that delivers in all the ways that matter. Who says Chevy guys get all the breaks? 1973 Gran Torino Sport, 429 4V, C-6 automatic, bright red with beige interior, 3.25 conventional axle. Options include laser stripe, optional rear axle, raised white letter tires, power steering, console, power front disc brakes, bumper rub strips, am radio, dual rear speakers, rallye equipment group, appearance protection group, tinted glass complete, magnum 500 chrome wheels. This is a very solid original car. Original paint except the drivers front fender appears to have been repainted in the 70s and re-striped as the paint and stripe are slightly less faded than the rest of the car. The car has 77,000 miles and runs, drives, and stops well. The paint is very presentable but it does have some areas that are down to the primer from years of washing, buffing, and car covers.I'm still in the process of sorting out this car but this is what I know so far. The car was one owner up until March of 2014. The original owner parked the car in 1987 as evidence by the last Virginia state safety inspection. The car sat in a garage most of the past 25 years and it shows. I bought the car from the second owner. He went over the brake and fuel system and drove the car about 1500 miles in the past 2 years. For the most part the car is unmolested. The engine is numbers matching and appears to have never been out of the car. The engine lift hooks are present, the exhaust heat shield, and the heat shields are present on the original motor mounts. The car has the original radiator, original alternator, and water pump. The transmission shifts well and is date coded to match the cars build, the rear has the original tag in place. There is no sign that the drive train was ever removed from the vehicle. Replacement parts that I have observed or replaced myself. I put a set of 14x7 reproduction magnum 500 wheels on the car, a battery, an exhaust system and a starter solenoid. The previous owner installed a new fuel pump, Holley carb., wheel cylinders on the rear, brake linings all around. The car has replacement shocks. Otherwise appears to be original equipment. The grill has two small cross bars broken out. There is a NOS grill that goes with the car.The body has all its original panels. The door jams are rust free with the original factory installed data tag and tire inflation guide. The passenger rear quarter panel has a small amount of rust just behind the wheel and is just starting to rust a little around the wheel opening. The passenger door, rocker, jam, and fender are rust free. The hood and trunk lid are rust free. The drivers side rear quarter is rust free. The drivers door is just starting to rust at each corner, small areas, not yet holes. The drivers front fender and rocker are rust free. The only rust repair done on the vehicle was done in the trunk. On the passenger side there was a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of metal welded in and there is a couple small holes that were fiberglassed. The trunk floor was painted with an epoxy black paint. The original trunk mat is in place as is the original jack. The wiring in the trunk is near perfect, it was never cut or chewed by mice. The original dual rear speakers are intact and sound great. As great as an AM radio can sound anyway. All the trim is intact and in good shape. All the glass is original carlite and is in excellent shape. The doors open and shut like new. The windows roll up and down like new. The interior is all original and is presentable. The original carpet is intact but its a little rough. The headliner has a seam coming apart and has some finger prints. The back seat is in great shape, all the seat belts are intact and functional, the front seats are good the drivers seat cover is worn especially at the seams. The dome light and the light in the center console work. The car has a factory tach and gauges which all work except the clock. The lights all work, the radio, the heater, the wipers, the AM radio. The dash is near mint. Underneath the car is in great shape also. The quarter bottoms and trunk drop offs are solid, there is some pin hole rust on the passenger side but the panel is solid. The car has air shocks on the back. It also has a factory rear sway bar. All the fuel lines and brake lines are in good shape. There is no rust in the floors except what I mentioned in the trunk also the drain plug under the driver side rear passenger is slightly soft. The battery tray area is rust free although the original battery tray has rusted some. The odometer reads 77,000 miles. The engine fires right up and idles smooth. There is some smoke on start up. The car runs good, drives good, and stops good. I'm selling this car as a survivor. They made 51,000 Torino fastbacks in 1973. Only a handful of N code 429 cars. I doubt there are very many left with original paint and drive line. This car has lots of patina, but from 20 feet it presents as a show car. I think its worth preserving as it sits. But it would also make an excellent restoration candidate. That's up to the next owner. I have the Marti report and I found the build sheet under the rear seat. I will be happy to provide a walk around video of the body and interior and video of the car driving for anyone that is seriously interested in the car. This car is only for sale on ebay at this time. Pleas call, text or email with questions or comment on this very interesting, rare car. LeRoy 717-254-5075

With a known ownership history from new, a high-quality restoration, and exceptional attention to detail, this is the Blue Oval equivalent of an LS6 Chevelle or a Six-Pack GTX. And with that in mind, the price shouldn't be that much of a surprise, because this is one serious Ford. The restoration was completed in 1999, but you'd never know it by looking at the car, as it still looks remarkably fresh. It was originally purchased by a Navy sailor in California and then shipped to Hawaii. The second owners were in Palm Springs, where it remained almost all its life. We believe that the mileage shown is correct and as I mentioned, the car is 100% matching numbers. During the 1999 restoration, the color was changed from code B Dark Maroon to a brighter light yellow that was also on the Ford color chart in 1970. The original flat hood was replaced with a correct Shaker setup, but otherwise the bodywork is untouched. That means original quarters, rockers, and floors, making this an incredibly solid, clean, straight car. Finish quality is what you'd expect on a car of this caliber and the contrast between the light yellow paint and the blacked-out hood is dramatic. Correct Cobra emblems, bright chrome bumpers, and other details make this a very accurate restoration. The code CF Ginger Turin Knit vinyl bucket seats is almost entirely original, which speaks to the quality of care this car has received. The carpets and front seat covers are new and the pieces are exact, so it looks correct throughout. This heavily-optioned SCJ offers a center console housing the Hurst T-handle shifter for the 4-speed, a full set of gauges (including the unusual factory tach) and an AM radio, pretty much the right pieces for a car designed to go fast in style. The three-spoke steering wheel looks fantastic with its woodgrained rim and a few bright pieces of trim on the console liven things up inside. The Torino offers a genuinely roomy back seat, so this is a muscle car with room for family and friends, and, of course, there's a mammoth trunk that includes a correct mat and full-sized spare tire. In fact, that may actually be the original Goodyear spare tire that came with the car! The engine is the original, numbers-matching 429 Super Cobra Jet V8, fully rebuilt to stock specs and thundering out a reported 335 horsepower. Of course, everyone knows that this figure was a gross under-statement, and even in stock form, it's formidable. The only notable change other than the Shaker hood scoop is an 800CFM Holley, a replacement for the original 780 CFM unit. Ford Blue on the engine block, finned valve covers, a correct rev limiter box, and even little stuff like the belts and hoses, all add up to a show-quality engine bay. The Drag Pack SCJ also includes a factory oil cooler and 4.30 gears and a Track-Lok in the 9-inch rear end, making this car a serious threat on the street. The undercarriage was stripped and professionally restored using red oxide primer and factory finishes throughout so it's exquisitely detailed. A correct dual exhaust system sounds mellow but racy and it sits exactly right on gorgeous 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels with staggered 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear Goodyear tires. Documented with a Marti Report, receipts, and restoration photos, this is quite likely the nicest of its kind anywhere. Fast, beautiful, and with an awesome pedigree, this is a very rare find for Ford fans. In 1970, the heavy-breathing 429 was offered up in three configurations: the 360-hp Thunder Jet, the hydraulic-lifter 370-hp Cobra Jet (CJ) and finally, the 375-hp Super Cobra Jet (SCJ).The only way buyers could up the ante for the 429 SCJ was to check the box for the Drag Pack option. This gave performance-minded buyers a 429- ci engine with 4-bolt mains, solid lifter cam, forged pistons, big-mouth 780 CFM Holley carburetor and an engine oil cooler to help keep the beast from melting down on a hot pass. Buyers also received a 4.30:1 Detroit Locker or 3.91:1 Traction-Lok rear differential to keep all that power in check. The Shaker Hood was another option, as the SCJ was available with or without Ram Air induction. The performance lineup for the Torino came in two packages: the Torino Cobra or the Torino GT. The Torino Cobra was a bare-bones variant, as it was designed more for no-frills street performance while sacrificing some creature comforts. The GT was marketed toward more affluent buyers, as the option list was longer, with more trim and décor levels while still offering up some pretty stout performance numbers. The GT with the 429 SCJ and drag pack running through the 3.91:1 gears hit the clock at just under 14 seconds in the quarter mile, which isn’t too shabby for a bloated, 3,700-pound 4-seater.The original buyer obviously ordered our subject car for some formidable street action. The only missing items are bucket seats and a 4-speed tranny. The factory air conditioning was a trade-out for the C-6 transmission, as buyers could not get the 429 SCJ combined with A/C and a 4-speed on the floor. The overall combination certainly made a hot street package, and it offered up room for four and a trunk worthy of carrying more than a few bags of groceries. Fortunately, this one does exist and looks great with its trademark "laser stripe" down its flanks, and with a strong-running 351 cubic inch V8 under the hood, it's got enough power to match its racy look. The Torino can probably be considered Ford's answer to the Chevelle, but sadly it was a distant second in the popularity contest vs. Chevy's erstwhile A-body. However, if more people had seen a car like this Torino GT convertible, perhaps the numbers would have changed. Ford didn't advertise it very much, giving it one lonely photo in their 1971 brochure where it was easy to overlook. This one is finished in handsome code V Light Pewter Metallic, which is the car's original color and looks pretty classy on the big ragtop. It was repainted a few years ago and the paint is holding up quite well, with a great shine and panel alignment that suggests this was always a clean, straight car. There are plenty of performance styling cues, most notably the hood scoop and the aforementioned laser stripe along its flanks, and the hidden headlights work rather well on the redesigned Torino, although these are a little finicky. The 1970 redesign also added a full-width taillight, a design element that would sweep through the entire FoMoCo lineup in the early '70s, but scarcely does it look better than on the Torino. The handsome white interior offers cloth inserts on the seats that add an upscale look and plenty of comfort to the big ragtop. Black carpets work with a dark dash to keep it from being too bright inside, and the arrow-style design on the door panels mirrors the overall look of the car's profile. The big, wide instrument panel puts all the controls right in front of the driver, including the factory A/C, which remains fully functional today. The carpets are in excellent condition, and while the seats show some light wear, they remain comfortable enough for all-day cruises. The original AM radio still lives in the center of the dash, and the lack of a console makes it feel positively huge inside. And speaking of huge, the trunk is quite spacious and uses a typical Ford plaid mat and includes a full jack assembly as well. Overhead, there's a black power convertible top with glass rear window and a new white boot. Power comes from a 351 cubic inch V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor, a specification necessitated by the era but still able to deliver torquey performance that's a lot of fun. The engine bay is quite stock, with Ford Blue in all the right places, a stock air cleaner, and that big A/C compressor which has been converted to R134a refrigerant. It starts almost instantly and idles so smoothly that you'd swear it's a Lincoln, not a Ford, and all that torque makes it feel lively on the street. The 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and there are 3.00 gears in back to make it a fantastic highway cruiser that just eats up pavement. There's a fresh Flowmaster exhaust system underneath that just sounds awesome and the underside is pretty original yet in very good condition overall. The low-key look is enhanced by the plain-Jane hubcaps and sporty 225/70/15 white-letter radials. Documented as one of four by the Marti Report, this is a rare Ford convertible that delivers V8 power and a great look that will have onlookers asking you questions every time you stop. Our sales staff is very knowledgeable and can assist you in every aspect of the purchase. International buyers welcome! Click here for an estimate. If you decide to purchase from us, we require that you give us your complete name, address and phone numbers (home, office, mobile and fax) and a port of entry that handles containers. We do not ship vehicles open (RORO: Roll On Roll Off) due to risk of damage to vehicle and theft of parts. All international purchases must be paid by bank wire transfer in US Dollar funds only. Once we have received the funds, we will prepare the car for international shipment through one of our approved land and ocean carriers. We file all the necessary documents for export, deliver the car to a US port, secure it in containers and board an ocean carrier. We can land a vehicle to any port worldwide handling container traffic. We export cars regularly and are familiar with export requirements. You, or your agent, are responsible for Custom clearing the vehicle and registration in your own country.
