This is a nice 2000 Insight with a clean title. It is a nice car that gets great gas mileage because of the design of the car. It is made of high strength aluminum, has the preferred 5 speed transmission and weighs only 2200 pounds. That is 1000 pounds less than the Toyota Prius. It has a newly replaced IMA hybrid battery at the Honda Dealer on August 28th 2013 at 169,253 miles. It is the rarest color that Honda used for the 1st Gen Insight and is called "Citrus". Many Insight collectors say this color will be the only Insight that will actually be collectable in the very near future. I have not detailed it so it is dusty in the photos. Overall I'd give the paint a 9 out of 10. There are no blemishes beyond normal wear. The interior is stain free and it is clean. The tires are the recommended Bridgestone Potenza's, in good condition at 80% tread I'd say and the wheels are in good shape. The a/c blows cold and the heater works. Everything operates as it should. The IMA battery charges as it should and the autostop works perfectly because it is virtually brand new. My car comes with a cargo net for the back area and also the zipper bag Honda made available on certain models. It shifts as it should with no downshift grind. All VIN stickers are where they should be, even on the back bumper cover. This is an important question to ask other sellers. If you are paying top dollar for a 1st Gen Insight you need an accident free Insight which this is. If it is missing vin stickers you should ask why before buying. These cars last well into the 400,000 miles mark and will also go up in value because they are rare finds. Honda built very few of these cars world wide. Even Jay Leno, an avid car collector, says the 1st Generation Insight will soon be collectors items. They cost $30,000 to build. Honda still services them also. This model of Honda Insight is still to this day the absolute king of mpg of all hybrids. Sure you can buy an all electric Chevy Volt or even a Tesla but do you really want to spend $45,000 to $70,000 on a car that has a charge rate of just 5 miles per hour? Talk about limitations. I see these poor electric car owners waiting in line just so they can grab a quick 15 minute charge at one of 2 or maybe 3 charging stations at the local mall, so they are not stuck and need to walk home. I guess this is just part of electric car ownership. For basically the price of a used Ford Focus you buy my car and get 55+ miles per gallon or more depending on how you drive. You can literally drive for 600 miles without stopping for gas in my car. Where I live that is a trip to Las Vegas and back on 1 tank of fuel! The 1st Gen Insight was introduced into the US a full 7 months before the Toyota Prius so was the very 1st Hybrid on the market. Even today in 2016 no Prius or other hybrid car can beat my car's mpg. You can drive all month without seeing another Insight on the road. You might drive an entire year or more before seeing a Citrus Insight. They are really that rare. Only 200 were ever made out of 17,000 total worldwide. Of this number some have said fewer than 100 might still be "alive" in the world and of this number fewer than 50 might be in the US but this is pure speculation. Lastly, I am a small car dealer here in Orange, California. This means you are protected in your purchase because I am licensed and bonded. I specialize in these Insights. If you buy this and live in California you will also need to add salestax. I pay all other fees. You pay sales tax even with a private party sale but you pay it at the dmv so it does not feel like an extra fee, just expensive registration. But I collect this sad to say, not the dmv. In fact I complete all dmv paperwork for free if you want. If you prefer to do it that is fine also. If you live out of state you do not need to pay me sales tax. I am also just taking a guess at my price. There is an identical car that sold a few months ago for $12,500 but with less miles so I know these are finally hitting the "collectable price". But if you are buying it for your daily driver I understand if you do not agree with my price so let me know what you think is more fair and we can work something out. Honestly I'd rather keep it and sell my silver or one of my red 5 speeds but for now I will try to sell this one. I can also pick you up at the airport if you buy it and live out of state. You can then have an easy and inexpensive drive home. Choose John Wayne Santa Ana if you want to fly here. If you want to have it shipped I can take it to the shipper for you. Regarding cruise control, no Insights have this as Japanese makers felt the drives would not be long enough to install it. You can install one pretty easily for about $300. Fuel economy combined with Honda reliability and incredible hybrid technology make this car highly sought after. The no frills interior is mint, comfortable and has everything you need for great transportation. Upon our inspection and preparation for sale, we changed the oil using synthetic, replaced the engine air and cabin air filters, flushed the brake fluid and replaced the front brakes and rotors. In addition we completely detailed the entire vehicle. Rear brakes have 85% left and the tires have between 80-90% left, best tires have been rotated to the front. 2001 Honda Insight 5 Speed Manual Transmission. MT. 54,397 miles I have appx 40 of these cars. With that being said, I'm not selling parts at this time as I need my parts for the cars I am selling. I have spent the last month, on and off, getting this car right. And it is as good as it can be with absolutely no problems. Wanted this car to be one of the best available. No accidents ever. Clean Carfax. Carfax has a +$580 due to the info in the carfax. Lifetime miles per gallon: 58.7MPG. Probably the nicest Insight on the market. Try to find one better if you miss out on this one. THIS IS A ONE FAMILY OWNED CAR PRIOR TO ME BUYING THE CAR. It was owned by the mom and dad. They died in 2011 and gave the car to their son and I bought it from the son. I have only put on a few hundred miles since I bought it in 2013. I have documentation that I will provide and included in the documentation is the ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER, ORIGINAL MILEAGE STATEMENT (222 MI DATED 2001) AND ALSO THE ORIGINAL INVOICE OF $20,620 WITH $12,620 DOWN AND A BALANCE FINANCED OF $8,000/ The Manual Transmission works perfectly. Shifts smoothly including downshifting. IMA battery is STRONG and only has 300 mi on it. When I first acquired the car a couple years ago it had an IMA light so had the IMA replaced by the dealer at that time(54,187 miles) and has only 300 mi on the new battery. I will provide the new owner with documentation that this battery only has 300 mi and it definitely acts like it. With 40 Insights I can attest that these batteries can remain dormant for very long periods of time and just need to be charged and discharged upon use. I freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery and it should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Nothing but the best for this car. The grid charger/discharger is from hybridautomotive.com and I believe is appx $400 without the installation charge. Of course the harness is installed and you should grid charge all insights on an as needed basis (appx every 2-4 weeks). Interior- above average. I removed the seats and door panels, washed and cleaned the seat covers and door panels thoroughly outside the car and reinstalled. Cold A/C. The carpets were freshly shampooed. The floor mat in the hatchback area is spot free and in excellent condition. Exterior- EXCELLENT- NEW PAINT.When I first got the car it had fading on the hood and top and I had it professionally painted. Of course NO dents or door dings. Overall the body is in excellent condition. The wheels on this car are probably as nice as any other Insight I have. I had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. All underneath body panels intact and even the body panels were cleaned and polished (my friends thought I was nuts doing this). Engine compartment-WAY above average. I challenge you to find any rust on this car. Definitely the best rust free car I have in my collection. Had this professionally detailed. 12V battery is a Honda Battery. Mechanics-Way above average as the car only has 54k mi. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should, motor fires right up and sounds great. Should last easily for another 200,000 mi. Oil and Filter - recently changed. Ready to go. Tires -excellent. Balanced and ready to go. Car also goes into auto-stop easily (see pic) which is where the engine shuts off when idling and starts instantaneously when you step on the gas. This helps your mpg greatly and some Insights don't go into auto-stop. You guys buying these cars with bad tranny's and IMA's will be faced with possible repairs of $4k or more. This car is done. Tranny purrs. Strong IMA. Engine has ZERO leaks. Get in, drive and give me a positive feedback. Money was no issue in making this the best that it can be. No corners cut. Gas tank-on full of course. No issues. PERIOD. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this car. I'm appx 20 miles NW of Indianapolis, IN and you can fly in to IND (Indianapolis, IN airport) and I'll meet you at the airport and you can drive home. Anywhere including Timbucktoo. This car is ready to go. I am not a dealer but a retired enthusiast that has a ton of these cars that I enjoy working on. I'm not going to sell a car and then have you give me a negative for whatever reason as I have many more to go. But as of now just this one for sale. No sight seers of "InsightWorld" as I'm too busy enjoying what I do. Here to sell a great car for a great price. This 2001 Honda Insight is in very nice condition! The battery pack has been replaced, wired with a grid charger harness and discharger harness, and cycled regularly. The transmission has been serviced and does not grind at all, in any gear, up or down, at any speed. I have done a lot of work and restored a lot on this insight, both mechanically and cosmetically. Some of which includes: paint, all underbelly panels, headlights, wiper arms and wipers, seat covers, shampooed ALL carpeting, seats and door panels, window switches, window regulator, center net, transmission service, transmission fluid, egr plate cleaning, egr valve, plugs, correct size 165/65/14 tires, rear wing, side mirror, rear view mirror, interior door handles, speakers, floor mats, rear hatch release, pedal covers, exterior door trim, etc, etc. Everything done with genuine Honda parts. The car has a clean carfax report, and has never been in an accident. It has all original body panels with matching VIN numbers on every panel. This car has been very well maintained. I have a clean and clear transferable New York State title in hand, with no liens. NY State inspected. Perfectly running engine and transmission. Both fully serviced. The car is perfectly stock, minus only the addition of HID headlights (which are a vast improvement over stock,) and the grid charger harnesses. Everything on this car is correct and now works exactly as it should! Can you buy a cheaper insight? Yup. But be prepared to spend a lot of money and time with the common and expensive battery replacement issues, transmission grind/replacement needed issues, interiors and carpets being trashed, seats worn thru, paint/body issues, previous accident history, and all the other common stuff. This one is all done and only needs a driver! This is where the old saying "You get what you pay for" holds true! This Insight is as reliable as can be. I'd have no problem jumping in this insight and driving out to California today! When taken care of, these Insights always get 300k or more miles, lifetime-wise. I've seen some with 400k and even 440k on ebay, with the original engines! Super lightweight (1800 lbs,) and super aerodynamic, the first generation Honda Insight 5-speed holds the mpg record even today, with epa ratings of 61 city and 70 highway! No other car comes close, even today! Last summer, I averaged 73 mpg, city and highway combined! Suprisingly roomy inside, with lots of room in the hatch area and trunk area, as well. If you do a lot of driving, and can get by with a 2 seater, you cannot beat it! And, these cars bodies and frames do not rust, as they are all aluminum construction! Stock AM/FM/cassette player, owner's manual, and the keyless remote are included, too. The car is wired for the grid chargers I build (see ebay item #301705874122.) Occasional grid charging (and discharging) helps the health of the battery and prolong it's life.) The other mods I build and offer can be installed also (clutch interrupt circuit, throttle smoothing circuit, brake regen circuit, etc.) See them and read about each and their advantages in my ebay store. I removed the seats and door panels, washed and cleaned the seat covers and door panels thoroughly outside the car and reinstalled. Cold A/C. The carpets were freshly shampooed. Exterior- above average. It has the normal amount of chips and scrapes you would find on a 13 year old car but there are NO dents or door dings. If you look closely there is a slight crease below the filler door but that is hard to see. Overall the body is very nice. The wheels on this car are probably as nice as any other Insight I have. Probably due to the fact it spent a lot of time in California. I had the car professionally waxed and buffed and detailed. Underneath- above average. All underneath body panels intact and even the body panels were cleaned and polished (my friends thought I was nuts doing this). Engine compartment-above average. Cleaned the EGR plate of any carbon buildup. Had this professionally detailed. Mechanics-above average. No check engine lights, tranny purrs as it should, motor fires right up and sounds great. Should last easily for another 200,000 mi. Oil and Filter - just changed. Ready to go. Tires-Brand New Bridgestone RE92 OEM Tires. Zero miles. Balanced and ready to go. Car also goes into auto-stop easily which is where the engine shuts off when idling and starts instantaneously when you step on the gas. This helps your mpg greatly and some Insights don't go into auto-stop. You guys buying these cars with bad tranny's and IMA's will be faced with possible repairs of $4k or more. This car is done. Tranny purrs. Strong IMA. Engine has ZERO leaks. Get in, drive and give me a positive feedback. Money was no issue in making this the best that it can be. No corners cut. Gas tank-on full of course. It will be difficult to find a better citrus in the country. No accidents ever. Clean Carfax. No expense spared. Lifetime miles per gallon: 55.2MPG The Citrus colored Insight is the rarest of all the Insight colors since it was only produced in the year 2000. It is the rarest and most sought after color. 5 Speed Transmission works perfectly as it should for a car with these low miles. No noises and no grinding of gears during downshifts. NONE. IMA battery is STRONG. Freshly charged and discharged and charged this battery should last a long time. Grid charger and harness included as all of these cars should be grid charged frequently. Nothing but the best for this car. The grid charger/discharger is from hybridautomotive.com and I believe is appx $400 without the installation charge.
