It's a local Colorado truck and was owned by someone from Boulder. The truck was recently traded in on a new vehicle and we bought it from the dealer on trade. They don't sell trucks with this kind of mileage, so we brought it in, went over it, and took care of a handful of things it needed to get right back on the road. The truck runs superb, drives nice, interior is super clean, paint is good, tires fine, and it's priced very well. If you know your Toyotas you know when taken care of they'll do a site more than 248k, so you should get years of good service from this truck to come. Fly in and drive home anywhere. exterior The paint and body on this pickup appear to be original. It shows 1 hiccup on the Carfax but there was no damage reported, so it may have just slid off the road, or been a parking mishap. The paint all has equal wear. It's a 250k mile truck and not new, but it's definitely been well kept. There's some pitting on the front end and lower rockers from a lot of freeway roads, but it's never seen road salt so no rust. The doors open and close easily, tailgate works fine, etc. The windshield is free of cracks. The wheels were oxidized and delaminating when it came in so we sanded them down a bit, scuffed, primed with etching primer and painted/cleared them. They should hold up well, looking presentable just not show quality. We touched up the grille paint and the hoodscoop which were faded. The truck has just a few small nicks and light scratches, nothing too noticeable. Again, it's a nice looking pickup just not brand new. interior The interior is super clean, it's had seat covers on since day one so the upholstery looks like new. Everything works great, truck has a bedrug bed liner in the rear under the topper. The low tire light was on in the photos, but the spare was just low and we cured that so the light went off. The air blows nice and cold. We have the factory floor mats still, they're a little worn, but still usable. mechanical The truck comes with the 4.0 v6 motor that has a timing chain so no belt to worry about. This guy has a 6-speed manual and YES, it actually has good synchros. The driver must have babied it since day one. The truck runs great, has new water pump, fresh spark plugs, oil, and filter, and it drives well. We also replaced a wheel bearing. I've driven a lot of older toys with mileage and this is a sound example. It doesn't leak, doesn't have any drivability issues and it just feels like someone loved it; again, fly in and drive home anywhere. comments This is a neat pickup and a good rig. The truck is a 1-owner no road salt Colorado truck. It was used in a fleet to do solar panel installation and it has not been abused. Maintenance was done by a Ford dealer in Boulder, Colorado. The truck looks very clean, it runs and drives superb, doesn't reek of smoke and it's priced far better than most anything with this setup and mileage. This truck leaves little to be desired and it has a very long haul yet to go. exterior This pickup is in good overall shape for a workhorse and it hasn't been abused. It's still a work truck and not perfect, but it's definitely straight overall and will show nicely with your logo on the side. The wheels look fine, tires have really nice even tread, doors all open and close easily and everything matches. We had the left lower fender and door rockers painted due to a crease, but it was minimal, history report reads clean, no accidents. The paint has nice gloss, there's no dents, but it has a handful of nicks in the body and the left and right rear cab corners where they meet the bed are ding'd up. The box is clean overall, we sprayed a coat of paint on the interior and sides just to clean it up and seal it again, came up fine. There's normal scratches and marks about the box doors, but nothing bad, still looks just like the photos. interior The cabin is in nice clean shape. It doesn't reek of smoke, upholstery looks very good, dash, doors, headliner, all very decent. The air blows cold, everything works, comfy and easy to ride in. The truck is pretty basic, cloth in the front, cd player, vinyl in the back, and manual windows/locks. It's a workhorse! (Less to break.) mechanical This truck runs just perfect. We've put about 250 miles on it since purchase and are very happy with it. It doesn't leak, doesn't sound tired or worn out, the clutch and trans are easy to operate and feel good, undercarriage isn't leaking any fluids, and it has excellent power. The truck hasn't had a hitch in the back, or in the bed, never towed to our knowledge. If you want a receiver hitch we can install one affordably. It's all original as best we can tell except the inside of the bed which we blew out and painted because the paint was chipping up. It will look fine for a while, eventually you may want to have the bed rhino lined, they always chip up on these. The truck has a minor hiccup on the Carfax, but we can't see anywhere that significant repair was done, doors open and close easily, paint matches, no damage visible underneath or in jambs. There's no rust, hail, or obvious body damage at all. The wheels look ok and tires have great even tread all the way around, Michelins, best tires made! The glass is ok, no cracks, little dust scratching on the sides. The bumpers are straight, doors on the bed all open and close easily, same with the cab, really just a tall standing truck. The only thing I noticed was the tailgate latch is broken, so there's just a screw/nut used to tie it up. It's all a welded unit so not serviceable. For imperfections, the front end has a little wear on the bumper from sanded Colorado roads. There's 3 small nicks on the passenger side, a few small nicks on the box, and scratches about the upper sections. The truck looks just like the photos and as you'd expect for a low mileage white truck. interior The cabin is in nice shape. It doesn't reek of smoke, upholstery has only light normal use wear, dash, and doors look fine. We managed to get the wrong lower upholstery piece back in this one after replacing a panel, so that will be changed out for matching type fabric. There's a few little marks here and there inside, but overall remarkably clean for a service truck. The air blows cold, everything works, comfy and easy to ride in. The truck is pretty basic, but has tilt/cruise, and CD player; also has the built in brake controller from Ford. mechanical This truck runs just great. It doesn't leak, no warning lights on the dash, no drivability issues, plenty of power, just a nice rig. The oil and filter are new, brake pad life is over 1/2 all the way around, belt looks fine and differential fluids look nice. It's awfully low mileage. These trucks are like anything, if you take care of them and keep up, they'll last a very long time. Obviously the company appreciated their investment. Darling of Jeffersonville, Indiana. In 1953 Robert's sport custom was shown at the 4th annual Indianapolis Custom Auto Show. According to the official program from the show, Robert's Buick powered custom featured a body made up of Buick, Chrysler and DeSoto parts.[1] In 2000 John Brumder of Boulder, Colorado bought the car from Andy Clark of Westminister, Colorado. Andy told John that he had bought the car from a gentleman named Harvey Fullerton. Harvey had told Andy that he had found the car in Europe. Harvey had been in the furniture business, traveling frequently to Europe, buying furniture that he resold in the United States. He apparently found the car on one of those trips, bought it, and brought it back with him to the United States. Harvey drove the Buick around for an undetermined number of years before it was parked outside. It sat outside, unprotected for about 30 years. Twenty years or so outside Harvey's house, and then another ten or so outside Andy's house. John Brumder found the car trough an ad in the local Auto Trader Magazine. John's friend Carl Wells, that ran C. W. Performance, motivated John to buy the old custom. After buying it, Carl managed the restoration of the car, and built it up as a street rod for John. The original straight eight engine and Dyna-flo transmission were replaced with a GM 502 crate engine and Turbo 400 transmission. The stock "C" channel frame rails had been boxed in, end to end with very heavy plate steel. Wade Moon Racingmodified the frame to accept modern later model stock car type suspension, disc brakes, a quick-change rear end and power steering. The body panels were all rigidly attached to the frame using steel angle iron bracing. During the build, the bodywork was cleaned up. The original shape and styling features were left untouched, with exception of eliminating some of the original stock chrome strip pieces such as the spears atop the front fenders and the stock front bumper that was replaced by a custom extruded aluminum part. In John's opinion, the old front bumper was too bulky and ugly for the car. A Le Mans-type fuel filer cap, custom wheels, additional modern gauges and a modern heater and air conditioner were added. The rear glass had a code on it that crossed to a 1949 Chevrolet Sedan. Once the bodywork was done, the car was painted in a light metallic blue BMW color. Rich Lowrance of Auto Interiors of Boulder upholstered the restored version of the car for John. The build up was completed in about 2004. From the little paint remaining on the car, it appeared that the car had been painted black after Darling had first restyled it. A medium shade of blue had been sprayed over the black paint, indicating that it could have been painted blue sometime between 1953 and 1962. At a car show John attended with the Buick, Robert Orr recognized it from a photograph he had taken of the car parked on a street in Boulder,Colorado in 1962. Robert was 14 years old when he took the photo. When the photo was taken, the car had side curtains and wire wheels, these were not present when John bought it.[2] In 2011 John wrote Kustomrama to see if they had any information on his old custom. Not being able to recognize the car, Sondre Kvipt ran a story on the Buick in the Kustomrama Newsletter, looking for more information. Nobody responded to the ad. About a year later, Sondre bought an old program from the 1953 Indianapolis Custom Auto Show on eBay. On page 12 in the program he spotted the Buick. The photo caption adressed Robert L. Darling as the original builder and owner.[3] Sondre immediately notified John, who immediately began to track down Robert L. Darling or his descendants. Unfortunately for John, Robert L. Darling and his sons Robert L. Darling Jr, and Daniel E. Darling had passed away. John found out that the Darling family had run a yacht company in Jeffersonville called Darling Yacht, Inc. He called the company, and left a message on the answering machine. Several hours later, Michelle Darling, the widow of Daniel E. Darling returned the call. Terms of Sale Overview We reserve the right to end this listing at anytime should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. The following terms of sale apply to all of our listings. Payment Terms: The successful high bidder will submit a $500 non-refundable deposit within 2 business days of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. Buyer agrees to pay remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 5 days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle. Payment Methods: Cash (In Person), certified check, bank transfer, Paypal, or 3rd-party financing. Fees and Taxes: **Illinois buyers please add applicable sales tax. We must also collect sales tax for Arizona~Indiana~Florida~Michigan~Massachussets & S.Carolina residents. - Due to the fact that we often have multiple prospective buyers for the same vehicle, Windy City Motorsports will not hold a vehicle without a signed non-refundable deposit, a signed purchase order, and a signed General Information and Terms of Sale. Without this deposit, all vehicles will remain advertised, listed, and available for sale. - Although we make every attempt to deliver our vehicles with a full set of keys, key fobs, books, floor mats, manuals, etc., we cannot guarantee that a pre-owned vehicle will have all of these items. Most of them can be ordered at a minimum cost in addition to the price of the vehicle, if you desire to do so. The substantial reduction in price between new and pre-owned vehicles reflects in part the chance that these items might be missing. -This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. - We will accept the following four forms of payment only: bank wire (preferred), cashier's check (which will have to be verified during business banking hours), or cash (which must be delivered in person). Personal, E-Loan, or company checks will not be accepted. Credit cards may be used to make the initial deposit, up to $1,500. - Although we make every attempt to accurately describe our vehicles, it is not possible to go into enough detail to satisfy some buyers. Our vehicles are all carefully selected, professionally detailed, and reconditioned (if needed) prior to delivery. We are proud of our vehicles; we put our name on the back of each one, and they all represent something we would drive ourselves. That said, most of our vehicles are pre-owned and driven and therefore have been subject to normal wear and tear. Please do not rely on our descriptions only. It is the buyer..s sole responsibility to confirm all vehicle options, accessories, modifications, condition, factory paint codes, etc. with the vehicle manufacturer or a third party inspection service. Windy City Motorsports encourages third party vehicle inspections and can assist with this process within reason. We will not be held responsible for any claims after delivery of a vehicle due to this inspection opportunity. - If you are unsure of anything, please ask. Do not assume anything. - Vehicles may be picked up locally or shipped at the buyer..s expense. At your request, Windy City Motorsports can coordinate the transportation of your newly purchased vehicle. We have many quality carriers available at a reasonable cost. As we are not the responsible party for loading, unloading, or driving the truck, Windy City Motorsports will not be held liable for any claims arising from vehicle shipping, delays, or damage incurred while in transit. All claims are between the buyer and the shipping company. Out of state buyers are responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered.
