And last but certainly not least: 425,000 and, once again, 1. As in: the amount the truck appraised for just 1 short year ago. Looking for a world-class showstopper that's above and beyond pretty much anything outside of six-figure corporate builds? Fix your gaze on this incredible custom Effie! BODYWORK/TRIM Professionally rehabilitated and customized during a 6-figure, 4.5-year restoration, this striking F100 spent most of its life as a no-frills American workhorse. In what amounted to a systematic, no-expense-spared rebuild, its solid body was completely stripped, hand-altered and layered in a modified coat of Toyota Hot Lava PPG Deltron 2-stage. And today, the truck rolls as a game changing half-ton that's one part lust and two parts envy! If this Ford is any indication, roughly half a million dollars nets some very impressive attributes. At the front of the truck, a smoothed and painted grille hangs modern halo headlights above clear parking lamps and a modified valance that swaps factory chrome for monochromatic trim. Behind that grille, a shaved hood leads the eye to smoked glass, which plants singled side windows between shaved drip rails and Specialty intermittent wipers. Look closely at the top of that glass and you'll notice that the truck's rather large forehead has been significantly streamlined thanks to careful pancaking and a few inches of forward tilt. Opposite that roof, a flowing profile centers shaved doors and slender hot rod mirrors above custom running boards that frame low-profile exhaust pipes. Those boards melt into heavily modified fenders that, thanks to fresh wheel openings, are completely centered on the trucks axles. Between those fenders, a completely custom bed frames a billet fuel filler in satin-finish wood. And at the back of that bed, a custom tailgate flows in to a custom roll pan that's embedded with Cadillac LED taillights. ENGINE Hoist the shaved and insulated bonnet and you'll find 5.4 liters of Ford mod motor that, thanks to a color-keyed supercharger, twists big horsepower into gobs of stump-pulling torque! At the top of the Jet Black mill, a monochromatic pipe shuttles wind from a remote air cleaner to a Ford throttle body. That wind joins fossils thanks to Ron Francis wiring and Ford electronic injection, which make excellent use of Ford fuel rails and custom fuel lines. As that reaction turns into compression, resultant gases are jettisoned through custom stainless headers. That compression's cooling is provided by a custom aluminum radiator, which stores water in front of a requisite puller fan. There's a modern serpentine system that spins a fresh alternator beside a modern AC compressor. And, aesthetically, the truck's custom engine compartment is exceptionally well done, featuring first-rate ancillaries like SVT coil covers, Canton fluid tanks, a fresh brake booster, a billet hood latch and a billet-secured Optima battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION One peek under this sweet F100 reveals some of the best work money can buy. First and foremost, a heavily modified frame is sandwiched between stainless hardware and color-keyed, undercoated floors. Behind the five-four, an AODE Super StreetFighter 4-speed, rated for up to 500 horsepower, utilizes a 2,400 RPM stall to twist a custom driveshaft. At the end of that driveshaft, a proven Ford 9-inch spins a posi-traction differential around smooth gears and tough, 31-spline axles. That first rate drivetrain pushes a modern 4-link suspension, which features adjustable coil-over-shocks. Tracking is provided by a Heidts Superide front-half, which centers Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering between two more adjustable coil-overs. Braking is equally class, with Wilwood 6 and 4-piston calipers squeezing a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to stainless, billet-strung pipes, which breathe through throaty Flowmaster mufflers. There's a Rick's stainless fuel tank that's built around an internal fuel pump. And power meets the pavement through Colorado Custom Leadville Aces, which twist 255/45R18 Toyo Proxes in front of 295/45R20 Toyo Proxes. INTERIOR Pop this Ford's electronic doors and you'll find a completely custom interior that blends Hot Lava paint with supple leather trim. Front and center, a tastefully modified dash seats classy VDO telemetry amid components for proven Vintage Air climate control. Opposite that dash, modern bucket seats stretch tight hides under polished buttons. Between those seats, a custom console centers a slender Lokar shifter in front of a polished hand brake and hidden Custom Autosound audio. BODYWORK/TRIM Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this Cobra is no exception. The car's virtually flawless profile, showcasing the typically tight tolerances that have become a Factory Five hallmark, lays excellent groundwork for a wet looking coat of glossy PPG Copperhead Pearl 2-stage. That 2-stage was applied at a professional finishing shop as part of a 2-year assembly that wrapped up in late 2005. Since Copperhead Pearl is always best when mixed with something else, the car's slick profile was detailed with Sherman Williams White Pearl stripes. And today, this super slick Cobra is a race-bred street king that's puts a refreshing twist on a timeless American classic. Detailing is crucial on a replica because that's where a lot of cars start to disappoint. Fortunately, you can tell the overall impression of one of these Cobras from about five feet away. And naturally, since were featuring it, this roadster hits all the right visuals! At the front of the car, a sculpted nose hangs a Dark Water Customs air splitter between satin quick lifts, mesh grilles and Cobra Valley Crystalite headlights. Those cylinders combust under Dart Pro1 heads, which hide Chromoly pushrods, ARP bolts and Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers under a polished breather and Ford Racing valve covers. At the sides of those covers, coated Ford Racing headers feed high-flow Factory Five cats and stainless DNA mufflers. At the front of those headers, roller timing components back a billet March accessory drive, which spins a rebuilt alternator at the side of a reverse-rotation water pump. And that pump feeds a custom Tri-State Motorsports radiator, which fronts a large electric puller fan and Zoops expansion tank. Electronically, fresh American Autowire wiring works with Accel DFI Thruster EFI engine management to ensure miles of smiles. And niceties like Clevite bearings, Hastings rings, a Melling oil pump and a Forte's dual master cylinder add to the car's form and function. Behind this Cobra's hot small block, a poly-mounted, McLeod- shrouded Tremec TKII 5-speed pairs a steel Ford Motorsport flywheel with a Weber clutch and Centerforce pressure plate. That tough transmission spins a custom Forte's driveshaft, which is hooked to a spry Ford 8.8-inch axle stuffed with 3.27 gears. That axle pushes a Factory Five 3-link that's outfitted with Koni coil-overs, a Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar and a Vintage Performance Motorcars banana bracket. Opposite that rear end, an independent front-half hangs tubular control arms and two more Koni coil-overs between SN-95 Mustang spindles and a second Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar. That suspension is guided by ATSCO power rack-and-pinion steering, which mixes a Flaming River lower shaft and Breeze Automotive bushings with Whitby's FAI modification and Forte's bump steer elimination. Stops come courtesy of manual disc brakes, which pair aluminum PBR calipers with two 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors and two 11.65-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Power meets the pavement through anthracite Bullitt wheels, which twist 255/40ZR17 Nitto NT05 street radials in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT05 drag radials. And items like a high-torque mini starter, a custom driveshaft hoop, a quality Canton oil pan and a Trick Flow differential cover round out the car's impressive build. INTERIOR Take one look at the accompanying specs sheet and you'll see that this roadster was built to keep. And even though its cockpit still honors the purist nature of a no-nonsense, track-shredding sports car, many well-planned details ratchet up both comfort and appeal. Lightweight Kirkey seats stretch tight leather hides under heavy-duty safety harnesses. Built by Southern Automotive Engines of McDonough, Georgia, and installed by Finishline Motorsports of Las Vegas, Nevada, the car's balanced and blueprinted 427 features an increased stroke that nets a whopping 462 cubic inches of Ford power! At the top of that buff power source, a Stellings & Hellings air cleaner feeds a coated Holley 4150 carburetor that's tethered to a lightweight aluminum intake. At the sides of that carburetor, high performance Edelbrock heads ride below chrome "427 FORD COBRA" valve covers. Beneath those heads, a 4-inch stroke crank combines with a Crane cam, Manley H-beam rods and custom, forged pistons to create stout 10.2 to 1 compression. That compression gets sparked by Accel Hi-Temp Super Stock Spiral Core wires, which snake to a Motorcraft distributor that's wired to a hot MSD ignition system. Beneath those wires, application-specific headers roll charred dinosaurs in to the aforementioned side pipes. And in front of those headers, a big Fluidyne radiator circulates water around a large puller fan and painted overflow tank. You'll be happy to know that the clean V8 has been properly seated in a satin aluminum bay. And you'll be excited to see details, like hard fluid lines, a remote oil filter and chrome dress-up items, that round out a very impressive engine display. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION One of the best things about buying a high quality replica is the modern hardware underneath. INTERIOR Cobra interiors are usually stalwart and simple, but this roadster's lush leather cockpit is comfortable and appealing. Well-padded seats are firm, look as good as new and feature heavy duty Simpson harnesses for increased safety. In front of those seats, a color-keyed dash hangs a tight leather faade around a small mirror and a clean combination of Smiths and Lucas gauges. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors are dressed in soft inserts and chrome handles. Backing a 427 cubic inch LS2 with a race-prepped Tremec, track-ready mechanicals and show-stopping aesthetics, this magazine-featured coupe has been drawing stares ever since it rolled in to our showroom. And if you're ready to feel the summer breeze behind the wheel of a storied and unique custom, it's a chance to turn your dreams into reality! BODYWORK/TRIM Right at home cruising the strip, right at home showing beside exotics and right at home schooling Miatas on the autocross course, this Nova is just too much! No, seriously, that's the car's name: "II Much". Built, rebuilt and built again by a dedicated gearhead who wanted a killer pro-tourer, II Much features a detailed, custom appearance that's based in vivid PPG blue, highlighted by Metallic Black war paint and trimmed in custom, anodized accents. Take one look down the sides of the car's slick body and it becomes very obvious that the folks at Canton, Georgia's Road Killer Customs took great care to ensure all gaps are at better-than-factory standards. Step closer to the car's wet looking finish and check out straight and ripple-free panels that aren't plagued by any major imperfections. Grab the car's well-adjusted doors and feel how smoothly they close to provide excellent fit, which is set off by a glossy clearcoat shine. It all adds up to one world-class, mostly garage-built custom that transforms traditional muscle car style into multi-dimensional swagger! The subdued and classy lines of the prototypical Nova are early '60s conservative. And because they're so universal in appeal, they've continued to gain significant popularity. At the front of this hardtop, modern halogen headlamps hang a mesh-trimmed, crossbar grille behind a small bowtie, a mesh-trimmed, fiberglass bumper and a custom spoiler. A fiberglass cowl induction hood leads the eye to smoked glass that's framed by Metallic Black trim, shaved drip rails, and a shaved and filled cowl. At the sides of that glass, a clean, modernist profile centers traditional GM door handles behind color-keyed bowtie mirrors. And an adjustable carbon fiber spoiler reflects vertical tail lamps and a second fiberglass bumper. ENGINE This sweet looking Chevy is powered by a 427 cubic inch LS2 that, thanks to Wegner Automotive Research of Markesan, Wisconsin, creates roughly 620 pavement-scorching horsepower! Built to tear up the track and wow show goers alike, that sleeved and stroked mill combines a Rapid Motorsports block with a proven Wegner valvetrain and custom-wired FAST XFI electronics to transform stout compression into razor-sharp throttle response. Air is supplied by a black-cased reusable filter element, which rides on a proven Holley throttle body. That oxygen makes its way from a single-plane GM Performance Parts intake to CNC-ported and polished LS6 cylinder heads, which are juiced by 42 lb. Holley injectors. Sparks are sequenced through factory-spec ignition and familiar GM Performance Parts plug wires. When fire hits the cylinders, a Lunati Voodoo cam combines with Lunati forged pistons, Lunati Pro Mod rods and a Lunati 4-inch crank to make everything spin. The remnants of that fire swirl through custom-fabricated Stainless Works headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a giant Ron Davis radiator, which is fitted with two equally large puller fans. And, at the front of the technical-looking block, a Vintage Air FrontRunner accessory drive spins standard ancillaries. The custom engine compartment, which includes a relocated firewall and fabricated inner fenders, is every bit as extravagant and detailed as the car's stunning exterior. And niceties such as Earl's hoses, ARP hardware and a custom, reverse-hinge hood add the kind of fully sorted details that push enthusiasts right over the edge! DRIVETRAIN Take a long look under this lightweight X-Body and you'll find a whole roster of small modifications that add up to impressive appearance points and big performance gains. The buff LS2 leads a race-prepped Tremec TKO600 5-speed, which utilizes a tough RPS clutch and Howe throwout bearing to twist a custom Mark Williams driveshaft. On the other side of that shaft, a narrowed and Morrison-housed Moser spins a proven Detroit Locker differential around civil, 3.25 gears and rugged, 35-spline axles. Spent gases are managed by 3-inch, Mandrel-bent pipes, which breath through a MagnaFlow X-pipe, hearty MagnaFlow mufflers and custom, angled tips. And power pounds the pavement through 3-piece Kinesis K18s, which spin 265/35ZR18 Pirelli P Zero Corsas in front of 315/30ZR18 Pirelli P Zero Corsas. CHASSIS/SUSPENSION Holding that stellar drivetrain off the ground is a high quality Art Morrison chassis, which is adhered beneath custom floors, custom wheel tubs and a custom transmission tunnel that were fabricated from various gauges of 1018 cold rolled steel. That chassis glides on a Katz Tsubai-designed suspension that, thanks to a custom short-long arm front-half and custom 3-link back-half, pulls over 1 g on the track. That scratch-built front-half features: C4 hubs, billet Brian Schein spindles, 4130 tubular lower control arms, adjustable QA1 coil-overs, Lensing springs, needle-bearing upper control arms, Howe Racing ball joints, a Stock Car Products modular sway bar, a custom-fabricated crossmember and custom-fabricated aluminum uprights and coil-over mounts. The car's scratch-built back-half features: two more adjustable QA1 coil-overs, two more Lensing springs, adjustable control arms, an adjustable panhard bar and a thick Morrison sway bar. That suspension points through a custom Woodward steering rack, which mixes Lefthander Chassis tie rods and custom-machined 4340 steel steering arms with proven Borgeson joints. Stops come quickly thanks to Wilwood 6 and 4-piston calipers, which use two .75 Wilwood master cylinders to squeeze two 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors up front and two 12-inch drilled and slotted rotors out back. Like any carefully assembled classic, the bottom of this Nova is as well-finished as its top, with painted floors hovering over such niceties as stainless fluid lines, a Corvette oil pan, a 16-gallon, custom-baffled fuel cell and fresh Aeromotive pressure components. INTERIOR Inside this Chevy, classic style is augmented with seamlessly integrated customization. Cloth Sparco Monza seats, which hang snazzy "II Much" brandings over cam-released SCHROTH 4-point belts, are track day comfortable. At the base of those seats, fade-free carpet rides between a custom, Vintage Air-equipped console, custom foot pedals, a billet Tremec shifter and thick Dynamat insulation. A color-keyed dash features an array of Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges, while custom door skins are designed to flow with the car's 12-point roll cage. Connecting the driver to the road is a Sparco 3-spoke steering wheel spinning around a pull-off hub and tilting Ididit column. At the rear is a simple trunk that hides a centered gel cell battery behind a good amount of cargo space. And an integrated, MP3-compatible sound system keeps the tunes bumping with the help of a large amp, a large subwoofer and five crisp speakers. HISTORY When Corky Bell set out to build the world's most high tech Cobra, he assembled a talented cast of gearheads and began what would eventually be called Project Mongoose. A career engineer turned SCCA racer, Bell had acquired quite a reputation captaining brands like Japanese GT Cars, CarTech and the Bell Experimental Group. And that reputation, perpetuated through vast involvement in many different facets of automobilia, created plenty of contacts with top designers and engineers. Work primarily focused on creating athletic mechanicals that bettered the classic Cobra driving experience, and creating a cockpit that would actually sell to someone over average height. Ultimately, the build combined many high quality aftermarket components with a twin turbo V8, 11 custom cast parts and a slick Antiques & Collectibles composite body. And today, wearing a screaming coat of Bright Yellow urethane, the car rolls as a virtually timeless hot rod that looks like a 10 and drives like an 11! ENGINE Tilt the louvered hood and you'll find a professionally built Ford Windsor block that's been bored and stroked to 385 cubic inches. Churning 505 rear wheel horsepower into 540 lb./ft. of pavement-scorching torque, that proven mill wraps an Eagle crank, Eagle rods, forged JE pistons and a Crower hydraulic cam in a full array of track-ready ancillaries. Conical air cleaners whip 7.5 psi of wind through stainless, TIG-welded tubes and proven Garrett T4 turbochargers. Fossils flow from twin Pierburg pumps to 52 lb./hr. fuel injectors. At the top of the Cast Silver mill, billet throttle bodies front a custom Bell Experimental Group upper intake and Trick Flow lower intake. The aforementioned air and fuel make their way to aluminum Canfield cylinder heads, which hide Crower aluminum rockers and Crower hydraulic lifters under monochromatic valve covers. When those heads flood the cylinders, Electromotive TEC3 engine management sequences fire through high quality Electromotive coil packs. As combustion is sparked, resultant gases are jettisoned through waterjet-cut, Heliarc-welded headers into 3-inch, Mandrel-bent side pipes that were supplied by Burns Stainless. That combustion's cooling is provided by a custom Ron Davis radiator, which stores water in front of quick-spinning electric puller fans. And high quality componentry, like a MOCAL oil cooler, a Canton Road Race oil pan and TiAL wastegates, paints a concise representation of a very skilled, systematic approach to defining "the world's most high tech Cobra". DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The best thing about this high quality, expertly built roadster is its ability to run circles around almost anything at the track. Take a look under the car and you'll find a rigid 2-inch square-tube frame that, in addition to providing 14-15K lb./ft. of deflection, places 57% of the car's weight over its rear axles. Numbers like that aren't mere coincidence, as Bell hired Ron Nash, the whiz formerly associated with Buick, Roush's Merkur program and Newman & Sharps Nissans, to design Project Mongoose's foundation. That monocoque-reinforced foundation makes good use of a Porsche G50/50 5-speed transaxle, which has been reversed, inverted and mounted between a custom driveshaft, a Porsche limited-slip differential and a familiar Centerforce clutch pack. Aside from providing excellent feel, that relatively modern transmission enables the car to achieve 60 MPH in first gear while being mild-mannered enough to chase freeway traffic in fifth. That incredible drivetrain rides on a fully independent suspension, which is fitted with Heim joints, Aldan coil-over-shocks and Woodward power rack-and-pinion steering. At the corners of that suspension, Baer 4-piston calipers clamp big, slotted rotors to provide consistent, sure-footed stops that are all day strong, all day long. And power meets the pavement via 17-inch Team III alloys that spin fresh 245/40 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 275/40 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As. INTERIOR Cobra interiors have always been simple, and one look inside the Mongoose reveals just how serious the car's aspirations are when it comes to being track-focused. Chopped Miata buckets stretch tight leather hides between 5-point Simpson safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a textured dash founds Racepak Data Systems telemetry above billet foot pedals that can be adjusted to the height of the driver in roughly an hour. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors frame steel intrusion bars in custom hinges and custom handles. Below those doors, clean carpet frames direct-mount seat brackets, which lower the driving position enough to accommodate operators up to 6'9" tall. That operator stays connected to the asphalt thanks to a leather-wrapped billet steering wheel and beefy Bell Experimental Group shifter. And the passengers' cargo stows in an aluminum-lined trunk that's fitted with an integrated battery cut-off.
