Hey guys. I had this car listed a couple of months ago, and decided not to sell it. Now something has come up where it's come a good idea to sell it (I never thought I'd be the guy selling a car because my wife is having a baby, but here I am), so here we go. I apologize for the car being listed as a 1980, eBay wouldn't accept a non-American VIN for a 1984. Also, as you can see from my 'best offer' listing, theres more than a little bit of wiggle room in that price...but I figured rather than start the bidding at $200, let's just get right down to it. This is a 1984 Jaguar XJ-12 Sovereign. Most of the Series 3 XJ12s you see in the States are VanDen Plas that have come over from Canada, this car is a Sovereign and it came over from Germany as a 'gray market' car in 1989 or so. My understanding is that the differences between the names is that you couldn't call a Sovereign a Sovereign in North America, so our cars were VDPs. However, I'm sure there's a Jaguar expert reading this who can fill me in on the real differences. The car has been garaged it's entire life, and has no rust on it. The exterior is in very good condition, the only real defect I'd note there is a little bit of cracking in the older lacquer paint near the fuel fillers. No dents, no real scratches, the chrome is great, and the glass is all excellent. Oh, and the lights have been swapped...most of the US spec cars have the four small headlights rather than 2 big and 2 small, this one has had the outside lights changed to the large ones, which looks much better. The lights all work except for the fog lights, which seem to come and go...I'd assume it's a corroded or loose connection. Inside, the car has beautiful tan leather which is in fantastic shape as well, not dried out, not cracked. The veneer not the dashboard is cracking, but it doesn't look bad...kinda of a neat patina if you want to look at it that way. The car has a Nardi steering wheel (original is included), as well as a wooden shift knob that matches the wheel and dashboard. The carpets are like new, no cracks in the dash pad, all the interior lights seem to work. The air conditioning doesn't blow cold, but the compressor seems to engage. The gauges work except for the fuel gauge, but it does move a little when you switch between the tanks, so it might be an issue with the gauge itself rather than the sending unit. The car runs fantastic, too. Starts up easy, runs smooth, no blue smoke from the exhaust. It's obscenely smooth when you drive it, you barely feel the engine at all, but it does put you back in your seat. The European-spec 5.3 is supposed to make a little more power than the US version (300hp vs 260 or so), which is always nice to have as well. As far as issues, there are a couple of small ones. Most notably, the car needs a new voltage regulator, which I have in hand. Right now the alternator is charging at about 16 volts, so this will definitely need to be replaced. The battery is a new Sears Diehard Gold AGM, the overcharging alternator had killed off the old battery that was in it, so the car has probably been run all of 45 seconds on the new battery to keep from overcharging it. In addition to that, the car needs a fuel tank changeover valve, which I've also got around here somewhere. The car has two tanks, but the valve is stuck on the left side tank. The return valves are working correctly, however...when you switch to the right side tank, it still draws from the left tank, but returns to the right. I've got the original owner's manual, original shop manual, original tool kit, and the original spare tire (the tire itself is junk, but the wheel is good). The car has a clean title, but RI doesn't title cars older than 2001, so it'll be sold with a bill of sale and a copy of the current RI registration. Back when my grandfather owned it, this car was a show winner basically every time out. It still looks great, and I've won a few trophies with it myself. This is one of the nicer Jaguar XJs you'll see, and I doubt you'll have another S3 Sovereign next to you at the next show. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking. On Jun-22-15 at 17:44:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey guys, just a few things I remembered after writing the ad. The power antenna is stuck up right now. The antenna motor works, you can hear it when you turn on the radio, but it won't retract. There's what I believe might be a charcoal canister in the engine compartment, I guess it was needed to federalize the car when it first came over. It developed a leak, so its bypassed, but can be more fully removed. And on a side note, this is the best smelling car on this (or any other) planet. I don't know what it is about the inside of this car, but it just smells like old British car...not the least bit musty (the car is super dry inside, by the way), it just smells awesome. Like leather and wool carpeting and wood and stuff, I can't explain it, but I wish I could bottle it. Probably the only vehicle that could smell better than this would be like a mobile Cinnabon truck. I'll revise the ad if I think of anything else.

Reluctantly offered for sale is "Cinnamon," a fabulous 1977 Jaguar XJ12L sedan. I purchased this lovely motorcar from the second owner who reported that he had acquired it from the estate of the original owner with very low mileage. When I bought her she showed just 41,500 miles. The previous owner spent considerable amounts on mechanical maintenance and refurbishments over the years; in 2008 he replaced the interior with high quality hides and carpets, installed a new NOS wood dash and had her repainted in the original color. The paint is excellent and quite authentic single stage enamel that shows fabulously and has stood up very well. The chrome and rubber are all quite good. Glass is clear with factory (mild) tint. The interior is finished in brown leather on the seats with inserts of dark green in the panels and brown thick pile carpets (original color scheme). The leather still has the "new car" smell. The panels are original and quite nicely preserved. The dash top is free of cracks and the dash wood is excellent, reflecting that it is only 7 years since it was replaced. The leather is virtually flawless and looks new. I find no evidence to contradict the prior owner’s claim that the car is 100% original, undamaged and was never rusted or repaired. The body is tight and does not rattle like higher mileage Series 2’s. Undercarriage is clean. Owner’s manual and original papers and case are in the glove box. While it is not a concourse vehicle, Cinnamon is a very high quality "driver" that gets admiring comments wherever she goes. I have not shown her competitively but she certainly would stand up well in Jaguar Club driven class competition and local shows. More importantly, Cinnamon is a thoroughly enjoyable driver’s car. She is a pure pleasure to drive or ride in (the back seat is really comfortable with loads of leg room!) Smooth, powerful, comfortable riding, tight and responsive. She will keep up with and easily pass most modern traffic and benefits from that incredible smooth, turbine like V-12 acceleration that cannot be duplicated by lesser engines. Handling is quick, responsive and very “modern” feeling. Brakes are easy to modulate and very effective. The climate control is comfortable and the aftermarket stereo is high quality and very pleasant with extraordinarily good sound. It features a CD player and line in for iPod or mp3. Oil pressure is excellent. No overheating problems. Lights, turn signals, horns, wipers, windows, locks, all work as they should. No smoke, knocks, or other abnormalities. Since purchasing Cinnamon I have had her gone through by the best vintage Jaguar specialists in the area and have spent close to the asking price of this car in mechanical repairs and refurbishment to produce, in so far as possible, a thoroughly sorted and mechanically reliable Series 2 while still retaining the original drivetrain and authentic driving experience. I have complete and detailed bills and receipts for all work done, but here is a brief summary of what has been accomplished in the last two years in addition to oil changes and normal maintenance: Repair and correct cash wiring issues to restore functionality to all warning lights.Install new transmission mountRepair misaligned exhaustClean throttle bushings and reset linkagesReplace road hornsReplace radio antennaReplace power steering return hoseRepair parking brakeComplete brake system flush and checkRepair to manual air vents to obtain proper operation and sealsBalance tires and wheelsReplace entire fuel system including removal and replacement of both fuel tanks (new tanks), sending units, gaskets, seals, etc.Replaced all in trunk fuel hoses and clamps, checked EVAP vent hosesReplaced gaskets in filler capsReplaced 3 way solenoid valvesReplace Oil Pressure sensorAC service As is always the case with classic cars and particularly Jaguars of this vintage, there are a few items that could stand further attention, but they are mostly minor: the plastic vents in the dash top have deformed a bit from almost 40 years of sun and should be replaced. The side mirrors are actually from a Series 3, I am told. They function well but are not fully authentic. The trunk latch is a bit loose but functions well. The headliner is original and undamaged but there is a small spot over the passenger seat that has begun to sag from the matting. The sad fact is that I have too many cars, particularly jaguars, and so Cinnamon is being offered for sale to a good home. I believe that these Series 2 cars, particularly the long wheelbase V-12s, represent a tremendous classic car value in the current market. Haggerty values this car at $12,000 in #3 condition, and just under $18,000 in # 2 condition, with increasing values. I believe it is much closer to a #2 car than a #3, and have priced it accordingly; the price is somewhat negotiable but this is not a forced sale. The waistrail is finished with a hand-painted fine-line in deep Sherwood green. The colour combination is quite rare and looks stunning. You will also see in the photos the colour changes hue in different lighting which is truly beautiful.This XJ-12 is a 2 owner from new (second owner from 1997) and now showing some 99,000 odd miles*. The car has a clean and high scoring AutoCheck report.The XJ-12 L is the ultimate of the XJ series (X-300) and represents the top of the line in luxury for Jaguar in its year. This one is indeed a very well looked after example that is totally original in presentation and, in fact, displays nicer in real-life than you see in the photos.The XJ-12 was distinguished from its siblings by the individual styled seats, full leather interior (including door arm-rests, map-pockets console, etc), unique burl-walnut wood and teak fine lines on the dash and door cappings. It has rear seat picnic tables (also with teak in-lays), full length console to the rear, additional chrome, additional courtesy lights, all of which are unique fitments to the V-12 series. Also unique to long wheel base V12 is the front passenger seat switch adjustable by the driver. This was designed in chauffeur situations where the driver could move the passenger seat forward to provide maximum comfort to its rear seat passenger.The interior of this example is in impeccable condition with the burl walnut absolutely stunning without any fading or blemishes. The clear lacquer finish on the wood has only a few small hairline marks on the driver door (not objectionable but mentioned out of "clear disclosure") but is otherwise perfect. The Connolly hide leather seats are factory condition soft and supple with no stains, wear marks or tears. The headliner is slightly drooping in the back (which is a common thing for Jaguars) but otherwise clean and stain free. There are no cracks in the dash or rear parcel shelf. The centre console cup-holder which normally breaks has been replaced with a new one and works perfectly. The steering wheel is perfect with no wear. The interior truly is stunning, is like new and even smells "brand new".The paint is almost entirely original and in very good condition with only minor little stone chips and small marks. It is very shiny and consistent and presents perfectly for driver use. On a scale out of 10, I would rate the paint as an easy 9. The body is rust free; top and bottom with no bubbling around the windows or wheel arches which is generally common. The car sports a Vanden Plas grill simply because I prefer the look. The correct and original V12 grill is available for refitment if this is what you prefer.Mechanically the car is very sound with brand new "pin-stripe" whitewall tyres mounted on chrome optioned factory rims. The car drives ultra smooth, strong and quietly. Recent maintenance included, new rear shocks, suspension bushings, oil line hose changes and brake service, a general service and safety inspection. There are no warning lights on the dash and all is good to go. The A/C blows ice-cold with the heater nice and toasty. The clock display does not have its back light working but every other single instrument, feature and function are in working condition.The cars is so very original that the original spare Pirelli tyre and chrome alloy wheel has never been used.This is an immaculate Jaguar XJ-12L with good miles and makes for an excellent everyday or weekend driver. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) is required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. All payments are non-refundable. Please understand, show cars cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition. Please also understand it is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these cars are not new. So this means a 20 year old car is predominantly comprised of 20 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 17 years old. This is the nature of any used car and especially British cars. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a 17 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country” until you have familiarised yourself with the car. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars in enclosed carriers from where I bought them to my home. What fees are charged & why? WHAT FEES ARE CHARGED AND WHY? Texas residents are responsible for sales tax, inventory tax, license fees, documentary fee ($125.00) and administrative fee ($100.00). Out of state buyers are only responsible for inventory tax, documentary fee ($125.00) and an administrative fee ($100.00). Inventory tax is calculated at small state required % (that is approximately $21 per $10,000 spent). Fisch-Bone Motors charges a $195 non-refundable dealer prep/services fee on ALL transactions including dealer to dealer. (This covers expenses related to airport pick-ups/deliveries, fuel in vehicles, oil changes, temp tags etc…) You will notice in most cases we advertise with a low Buy It Now price as opposed to a long drawn out bidding cycle/war. If you are in the market for a very nice, collectible, and fast appreciating car that is a blast to drive, you have to take a look at this car. I am sadly selling our 1989 XJ-SC convertible that car that has been in our family since May of 2001. The car was bought new at Dale Schumacher (British Motor Car Distributors, LTD) in San Francisco, CA on September 15th, 1989. It lived in California until my father in law bought it for my mother in law in 2001. They looked forever for an XJS with this color combination (very hard to find) and options (such as power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power top, tilt, cruise, leather, CD player, etc). At the time of purchase, the car has just a shade over 62k on the ODO. In the last few years, my father in law has passed and my mother in law can no longer get in and out of the car comfortably. The car has not been driven and just sits in the garage. So, we are finally letting go of it. The car has a clean Oregon title. It has had no accidents, body work, always been stored inside when not in use, and adult driven. In the last 250 miles, we have had the most well-known Jaguar repair shop in the state inspect and repair items from sitting, the Jag Shop of Portland, Oregon. Some of the replaced items include: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 clean connections for main crankshaft position sensor, repair 2 fuel injector wires, replace brake pads and rotors, repack front wheel bearings, replace loose throttle shaft bushings, adjust linkages, Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 repaired the power steering rack (including rack boots and tower seals), installed a new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires. In addition, I just put brand-new tires on the car along with a battery. Knowing potential buyers may be interested in having an inspection on the car, I literally picked it from the shop yesterday (8-3-15) from the Jag Shop where they inspected the car and completed the tune-up. Therefore, this car is ready to drive! Unlike many British cars for sale, this car HAS had the costly repairs done professionally. Why buy a different car and then spend another few thousand on repairs of suggested maintenance? The body and paint on the car is very good. The paint shines well and definitely is an eye-catcher. It does have a few minor scratches and minor door dings as expected from a 26 year old car. However, they are barely noticeable due to the forgiving white paint. Meanwhile, the red interior is in very nice shape. The wood grain is excellent as is the dash. The seats have some wear but look and feel nice. The doors open and close well and do not sag. I put new shocks on the hood and it works excellent. The tires and brakes are new. The wheels could use some cleaning but present well. Lastly, the convertible top is free of rips or tears.
