In the care of a long term owner the car was purchased in 1996 with just 35,000 miles on it, so in the intervening 20 years he only put 5,000 miles on the car. We recently acquired the car from his estate, and have found it to be an exceptional original car. It runs and drives absolutely perfectly, I have personally put about 2000 miles on the car taking it to a 2 concours and driving it on local tours, and its really a great car!  The exhaust note is simply intoxicating, it handles perfectly, shifts smoothly, brakes work perfectly, its fast and nimble, goes down the road straight and true. The car is in excellent condition throughout, and the seats exhibit just the right amount of patina. They would redye well but we have chosen to leave them as is. The often collapsed head rest foam is in good order here owing to its indoor storage. There are some minor paint chips here and there and a scratch on the drivers side of the bonnet, but these are visible only upon close inspection and are easily touched up, I had the paint professionally matched, which is included, and have done some touch up, but with more time I think you can avoid a repsray, whichis alwyas good on an original survivor like this.  All gauges work but the tach does stick from time to time. Car runs cool and does not overheat even on very hot days. This unusual color combination is quite striking in person, I am not sure these photographs really do the car justice. There are many hard to find original items under the hood that are often gone in these cars such as the vacuum hose connector, the undercarriage shield, and much more. This is really a pretty amazingly well preserved example. I have found no rust. The original top does have a few tears on the drivers side where it stresses when collapsed, but otherwise this car needs nothing but a happy new owner. Books, tools, and records, accompany the car. I have priced the car to sell under the market for these cars allowing for you to do the minor touch up need and be ahead of the game. This really is one of the best Series III Jags your going to find, a car you will be glad you bought and will put a big smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel. This is the one to buy if you are looking for Series III in something other than Red or BRG. This is a truly great car that has been loved and maintained properly its whole life.  I would love to add this car to my collection, but have no more room, and its not supposed to be my job to keep every great car I get in.   The stunning color combination on this fully decked out 4 speed factory A/C car make this a sure bet for increased appreciation as the XKE market continues to accelerate. We have many more photographs of this car, please click on any image to be taken to our full-size image list! Founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, by two motorcycle enthusiasts, William Lyons and William Walmsley, the SS Jaguar name first appeared on a 2.5 litre saloon in 1935. The Jaguar name was given to the entire company in 1945 when the SS was dropped due to lack of popularity from WWII. Jaguar made its name in the 1950s with a series of elegantly-styled sports cars and luxury saloons. The company bought the Daimler Motor Company (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz), in 1960 from Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA). From the late 1960s, Daimler was used as a brand name for Jaguar's most luxurious saloons. The Jaguar company started production with the pre-war 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 litre models which used engines designed by the Standard Motor Company. The 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine was still supplied by Standard but the two larger six-cylinder ones were made in house. These cars have become known unofficially as Mark IVs. The first post war model was the 1948 Mark V available with either 2.5 or 3.5 litre engines and had a more streamlined appearance than pre-war models, but more important was the change to independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes. The big breakthrough was the launch in 1948 of the XK120 sports car, with the new XK twin overhead camshaft (DOHC) 3.5 litre hemi-head six-cylinder engine designed by William Heynes, Walter Hassan and Claude Baily. This engine had been designed during the long nights during the war when they would be on fire watch in the factory. After several attempts a final design was arrived at. That is until owner William Lyons said "make it quieter". The car had originally been intended as a short production model of about 200 vehicles as a test bed for the new engine until its intended home, the new Mark VII saloon, was ready. The XK120's reception was such that production continued until 1954; it was followed by the XK140, the XK150, and the E-Type, keeping Jaguar in the sports car market. The E-type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourerin two seater coupé form (FHC or Fixed Head Coupe) and as convertible (OTS or Open Two Seater). The model was made in 3 distinct versions generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3". A transitional series between Series 1 and Series 2 is known unofficially as "Series 1½". Series 2 cars such as this one feature Open headlights without glass covers (Earlier cars had problems with misting, despite gaskets), a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and taillights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged "mouth" and twin electric fans, and uprated brakes are hallmarks of Series 2 cars. De-tuned in US, but still with triple SUs in the UK, the engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial 'ribbed' appearance. Late Series 1½ cars also had ribbed cam covers. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned, with flick switches being substituted for rocker switches that met U.S health and safety regulations. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. It was available in FHC, OTS, and 2+2 versions. The E type is generally considered one of the seminal sports car designs of all time, in fact it was displayed in the Museum of Modern Art due to its stunning lines. No collection is complete without an E type. There was a brief title transfer to a broker between the original and second owners. The car lived in the Los Angeles area from 1966 to 2001, when I purchased it, and brought it to the Seattle area. It has always been stored in a heated garage, and driven approximately 1200 miles a year to various ABFM shows and events. After the restoration work listed below, it always placed 1st, or sometimes 2nd in the Driven Class. I have not shown or driven the car much, in the last four years. This car is absolutely pristine, both inside and outside. The Warwick Grey (gunmetal-metallic) paint is flawless, and exterior chrome and rubber seals are perfect. The complete interior (black) has been replaced, including, fabric top, leather seats and console, hardura door panels, and a new windshield and door glass. The cars appearance is completely as original, except for the slightly wider 205 Dunlop tires, and the 5-speed shift knob. Additional Information All original purchase paperwork, Manufacturers Warranty, Maintenance Vouchers, Service Handbook. All service records from purchase, to present. Original california License Plates Jaguar Archive Heritage Certificate (original transmission is included with car) Complete E-Type Tool Kit Pertronix Electronic Ignition Stainless Exhaust System with Ceramic Exhaust Headers Front and Rear Suspension- Bushings and Shocks Dayton 6 inch Stainless Rims with 205/15 Dunlops, Original 5 inch Rims included Cool Cat Radiator Fan System JT5 (Borg Warner) Five Speed (overdrive) Transmission. This transmission uses the original shifter and linkage. The original four speed transmission is included with the car. Indoor Dust Cover and Outdoor Travel Cover Miscellaneous Small Parts, Knock Off Hammer etc. The engine has had the head completely rebuilt, including the installation of larger diameter (fuel injection) valves for better breathing. In addition, the main bearings, rod bearings, oil pump, and miscellaneous lower seals have been replaced. 1966 JAGUAR XKE E-TYPE ROADSTER FOR SALE - GLADSTONE, NJThe Series I E-Type is generally acknowledged to be one the most handsome modern sports cars ever built. With its 265 horsepower, twin cam, triple-carburettor, “gold head” 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission, performance is exceptional. Ours is a numbers-correct car, beautifully restored by Britalia Motorsports of Laguna Hills, California and driven fewer than 1,000 miles since that restoration. Purchased in California in 1998 by the Pennsylvania collector from whose estate we have just purchased it, it has been a fair-weather week-end driver and show car for the past 13 years. 1962 JAGUAR XKE E-TYPE FOR SALE - GLADSTONE, NJThe design of the original E-Type fixed-head coupe is acknowledged to be one of the most pure and beautiful designs of any post-war sports car—in fact, one represents the automotive display at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Ours is one of those original cars with its original 3.8 litre, twin cam, triple carburetor engine and an updated 4-speed fully synchromesh manual transmission in place of the original 4-speed non-synchromesh unit. Classically finished in unmarked British Racing Green with a virtually flawless biscuit leather interior and perfect 15” chrome wire wheels, this is a car which we purchased from its Canyon Lake, California owner where it enjoyed a rust-free habitat—a very important consideration on an E-Type which depends on a solid body structure for strength and rigidity. This is an extremely nice and very drivable example of an extremely desirable car. Ad provided by ClassicCars.com

Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this 1969 Jaguar XKE Coupe custom Hot Rod for sale. This car has been treated to several well done mechanical and cosmetic modifications. It wears a coat of Porsche Guards Red that has been expertly applied and very well taken care of. The interior is tan cloth. The concept was to keep as much Jaguar hardware and fittings as possible but to drop in a Ford 289ci V8 with an automatic transmission. From there the project became larger and larger until the whole car was re-finished to a beautiful standard. A swap kit was purchased and modified to fit the needs. With all of the pre-alignment complete, everything was removed including the rear-end which was inspected for wear. Any part that did not meet specs was replaced with either a factory or upgraded aftermarket part. The engine and transmission are the only Ford parts, the front end and rear end are all Jaguar. It is propelled by the aforementioned 289ci V8 with an R V cam, aluminum heads, Edelbrock manifold, an 850 DP Holly Carburetor and ceramic coated headers. The automatic transmission is a Ford unit and has a B&M shift kit. This beast is cooled by an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The vacuum brake module is on the driver’s side under the steering works. For the body work, the chrome and emblems were removed, as well as the door handles. There is a door popper system installed on both doors with the switches out at the rear of the car. The front bumper has been removed and the rear bumper was modified for a clean look that incorporates the brake light in the center of the bumper. The firewall is accented in billet aluminum and the front wheel wells are lined in aluminum. The chrome 15” Epic 5-spoke wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P6 rubber. All of the factory wiring was removed from the car and it was re-wired using American BKM’s. All of the switchgear is billet knobs and everything works properly. The Stewart Warner gauges look great and the speedo is unique with its vertical odometer. The interior is Air Conditioned and Jaguar dashboard also got treated to the billet trim. The seats, center console and telescoping steering column are all Jaguar as well. This car has been extremely well maintained and loved by its current owner who has owned it for the last 4 years. The build quality is exemplary and this unique Jaguar is a real joy to drive. It’s fast, agile, handles well, brakes strong, and looks very cool. Vehicle to be offered at Russo & Steele Scottsdale Auction, January 20-24, 2010. Ad provided by ClassicCars.com

Ladies & Gentlemen, From Los Angeles, California, the Jaguar! Here's a 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Left hand drive U.S. Delivery coupe, sold new by Charles Hornberg Jaguar on Wilshire Boulevard! It has its original engine, and it runs great - with a recent engine-out servicing and re-seal with receipts. . That is a handsome car, with wire wheels, factory air conditioning, 4.2 litre 6 cylinder overhead cam engine, Borg Warner automatic transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, and independent front and rear suspension. . The Red leather interior is a perfect color choice against the silver exterior. . Jaguar got the styling just right! . Pretty! Here it is in operation! . Very pretty indeed! . Very nice chromium plating up front! . Sharp! . Its a series 2 Jaguar, from the series built from 1968 to 1970, with 6 cylinder engine and open headlights. . Chrome wire wheels really make the car! and notice how nice these wheels are, the chrome is excellent. . Good California undercarriage, with very recent dual exhausts from front to back. we'll see more of that in the undercarriage photos. . Very nice red leather interior. . Beautiful wood rimmed steering wheel, extremely clean dash, brilliant instruments. . Nice! . The leather is in good shape. I noted some wear on the center console pad. . The "+2" section . very nice. . Nice doorpanel and door edge. . Clean rear shelf . Nice wire wheel spare . Nice spare floor, rust - free, with jack pouch. . Jack and handle with pouch. . There's the 4.2 litre Engine, the original engine for this car. Extensive recent service. . Twin Stromberg-Zenith Carburettors, spelled the English way! . Nicely porcelainized exhaust manifolds. This view shows the air compressor. The A/C is all hooked up but does not blow cold. . This is a race-bred machine to be sure. . Wow! . There's the engine number - 7R36008-9, which tells us it was a 9 to 1 compression ratio engine. This engine is still in the car. . 1R40980BW is the car number, and it tells us this is a Left Drive 2+2 coupe, with Borg Warner automatic transmission. there is also a vin tag on the driver's windshield post that matches. The title is correct and matches the car. The paperwork is clean and the car will export with no problem. . Here's the VIN tag on the left windshield pillar, which matches the data plate and the title. , . Title VIN matches the Car VIN. . . The front subframe must have been changed, this is from an earlier car. . Here's the original owner, from Beverly Hills, CA. . Original warranty / Service book . Original Owner's manual . And plastic Jaguar document folio. . The paint job is an older one, and it looks like there are some flat spots, most notably on the roof and on the left front fender, shown below. . There's a flat spot just to the left of the chrome bead line. . Clean engine, very recent dual exhausts, and clean, dry, original floors. . Excellent lower doors, no rust here. . Super solid floors and rocker panels. . I put a magnet to the lower portion of the body, and the magnet sticks . This car shows the reason why California cars have a great reputation for solid bodies and rust free sheetmetal. . Nice under the rear section of the body . Here's the left side lower rear sheetmetal. . Some small flaws in the chrome on the rear bumper. . It's a pretty car, and one with good history and care. . Nice! . All that Jaguar styling and performance, with the comforts of Automatic transmission and air conditioning! . A U.S. Delivery California car from new in nice condition and at a reasonable price !
