With a 360 V8 it moves like a muscle car, with a pickup bed it hauls plenty of gear, and with legendary Jeep ruggedness, it's still ready to hit the trails. Is this the ultimate 4x4? Prices, and inventory, are definitely on the move with these CJ-style Jeeps, and the rare Scrambler pickup is a highly desirable variant. Of course, finding a good one is the challenge, with so many being bashed, abused, used up, and modified beyond recognition, and that's why we love this one so much. The modifications it does have are sensible without altering the truck's basic goodness and the silver paint has a glow that suggests it's been loved rather than used. The slab-sided body doesn't offer dramatic curves, but it doesn't give shoddy workmanship anywhere to hide, and aside from a few spots that do show wear, it's really impressive overall. Correct black decals and "SCRAMBLER" lettering on the hood work well with the black rubber fender flares, black top, roll bar, and oversized front bumper. Traditional Jeep styling cues abound, from the grille to the asymmetrical mirrors, and steps make it easy to climb aboard. The bed is not only finished with a spray-in bedliner but also includes a second seat for passengers, depending on how bold they feel. Inside, this Scrambler is far from basic, with brand new bucket seats from BestTop that fit well because they were made just for this application. The floors are covered with more spray-in bedliner material so they'll look good practically forever, and there are heavy-duty rubber mats, just in case. The dashboard and steering wheel will look familiar to anyone who has piloted a CJ in the past, and all the gauges appear to be in good working order. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo system, although it's not currently hooked up, but I'm guessing that you'll hardly miss it when you pull off the hard top and enjoy this Jeep alfresco. The rear seat in the bed is upholstered in weatherproof vinyl and pops out pretty easily if you want to use this truck as, well, a truck. Forget the original six-cylinder engine, this Scrambler now has AMC's finest, a 360 cubic inch V8 dressed in all kinds of horsepower enhancing upgrades. On top there's an Edelbrock intake manifold with a good old Rochester 4-barrel carburetor, a high performance distributor, and plenty of dress-up to make it look great. Finned valve covers and a matching Jeep-logo air cleaner work with corporate turquoise engine paint to make the engine bay pop, and you know it's hard to make it look this good if you're constantly playing in the dirt, so we suspect this Jeep has led a fairly easy life since the restoration was completed. Power steering and brakes are welcome on anything with tires this big, and there's a snarky dual exhaust system with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle. The 4-speed manual transmission, 2-speed transfer case, and heavy duty axles at both ends are the hardware you need for climbing through the rough stuff. It's also been fitted with almost new Mickey Thompson Baja radials on cool slotted steel wheels that give it a very brutal look. Take it from us, Jeeps are red hot and if you like the utility of the Scrambler, you're going to have a hard time finding one nicer than this. One of the most stunning examples of a very rare and highly sought after highly collectible low original mileage Rambler SC/Rambler complete with all new drivetrain, suspension, paint and body work.  Kansas City Raceway K class record holder from 1972-1974.   During restoration the factory original 390 engine has been upgraded with custom forged flat top pistons, large chamber AMC dogleg heads, ceramic coated Hooker Supercomp headers, Mallory electronic ignition, SRT-11 crossram intake with twin 450 CFM 4bl carbs, reconditioned forged rods with ARP rod bolts, .010/010 turned forged crankshaft, Crane 302-2 high performance cam, lifters and valve springs, new bearings, freeze plugs and seals plus a fully balanced rotating assembly.  The interior includes new and factory correct SMS basket weave seat fabric material, complete new factory correct carpet set, rechromed dash bezel, new reformed factory correct dash pad, correct SC/Rambler Sun tach, very nice vintage 60s era aftermarket SUN gauges plus a RimBlow Buddies restored woodgrain steering wheel. The exterior of the car was fully restored after having been disassembled down to a bare shell. Any metal even remotely suspect was replaced with factory AMC metal, media blasted and painted to a beautiful correct single stage PPG based paint job.  All suspension parts were restored or replaced and all bushings and weather seals were replaced.  Every nut, bolt, and washer were removed, glass beaded and clearcoated before reinstallation and the underside of the car was stripped and refinished to as close to the factory original look as possible.  Although the perfect factory wiring harness was reused, every connector was pulled apart, cleaned and reconnected as well as the original factory correct alternator was totally reconditioned by a highly regarded AMC rebuilder.  Every single part on this car was either replaced with NOS parts or restored to make this one of the most beautiful, complete and factory/Group 19 correct Rambler SC/Ramblers available anywhere. This is a numbers matching car that runs and drives every bit as good as it looks and has only a few hundred miles on the odometer since its complete restoration. This nut-and-bolt restored 1982 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler is proof of concept thirty years ago, and is dressed in a bright red color scheme that works perfectly with the hot-rod Jeep's burly 350 cubic inch V8 living under the hood. With this 4x4, you can go anywhere, carry everything, and do it in a hurry, all with the confidence of having what might be the nicest Scrambler in the country! The CJ8 was a longer version of the CJ7, which had both the benefit of increasing cargo capacity and improving the on-road ride. Only a handful were built during six years of production, and the numbers in 1982 didn't even break 3000, so finding one this nice today is quite unexpected. It has been neatly maintained and refinished as needed during its life, and the paint it wears today has an awesome look that is a lot flashier than you'd expect for 1982, but works extremely well today. The doors and hood fit well, Scrambler decals have been reinstalled, and there's a removable hardtop for all-weather comfort. This Jeep also features a gray spray-in bedliner in the cargo bay (it's strictly a two-seater) and aggressive rubber flares for the fenders which allow oversized tires and protect the bodywork when you're off road. A grille guard, simple chrome bumper, a roll bar, a rear-mounted spare, and stake sides on the bed give it a no-nonsense look that suits it well. Like all CJs, the CJ8 Scrambler is basic inside, catering to the guy who understands that playing outside is a dirty affair. Fortunately, comfort and simplicity can live together in the form of supportive black vinyl bucket seats over a floor painted to match the bodywork. Have fun, get dirty, hose it all off and do it again, it's the Jeep way. Aftermarket Auto Meter gauges work with the stock speedometer in the center of the dash, where it's lived for decades, but there is no radio, which shouldn't be a surprise; you're not going to miss it. An aftermarket center console provides some weatherproof storage and a pair of cup holders (good luck with those on the trail!), and there's a grab bar for passengers. You'll also note there are only two pedals on the floor and a column-mounted shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission, a relatively rare option but fully correct for the CJ8. To go with its added size, this CJ8 Scrambler carries reliable Chevy 350 cubic inch V8 under the squared-off hood. With plenty of torque to move this 4x4 over any terrain, it makes pleasant V8 noises and is the perfect partner to the automatic transmission, making climbing around off-road a low-stress proposition. Nicely detailed with an Edelbrock chrome dress-up kit, fresh red plug wires and distributor cap, and an overall clean look that suggests careful maintenance since it was restored, and it probably hasn't hit the trails yet. It also offers power steering and brakes to help out when the going gets tough, and a soundtrack provided by a new exhaust system underneath. Manual-locking hubs provide the ultimate in reliability and traction, and the undercarriage shows the results of a full frame-off restoration that was finished not too long ago. Will you even have the courage to take this one into the dirt? Big Mickey Thompson aluminum slots have a butch look and carry oversized 33x12.5-15 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires. A neat footnote in Jeep history that's suddenly back in fashion, this Scrambler is also a great collectable that can still go anywhere, and you just won't find a nicer one than this. Underneath, the sheetmetal is in great shape with no signs of the usual tin worm issues that can plague these cool little trucklets, and it's been carefully assembled so the fit is better than you'd expect. Scrambler is spelled out on the hood, as if you needed that to know what this is, and it has accessories like chrome bumpers, a matching grille and hinges, and a spare tire hanging off the tailgate in back. The roll bar has been neatly wrapped in tailored pads and the bed itself is covered in spray-on bedliner material, so it's tough enough for anything you can fit in there. When you're heading out with all your gear, THIS is the truck that everyone's going to wish they owned. Thoroughly freshened, the interior is more 21st century than many of this Jeep's peers. High-back buckets are awesome for crawling over rough terrain, holding you in place while being comfortable enough for all-day drives. The floor is lined with the same spray-in bedliner material used out back, so it's low maintenance and you can just about hose it out when you get home. A center console adds security and that upholstery just looks cool in a '70s kind of way. Other desirable features include a tilt column, a chrome gauge panel, and Jeep-logo floor mats. The other gauges are in excellent shape, including the tach nestled into the dash next to the steering wheel. A brand new bikini top and half doors are included, along with a rear bench seat that makes this a legitimate 4-seater that can still carry a decent load of cargo at the same time. The 258 cubic inch inline-six under the hood pretty much guarantees there's no mountain you can't climb. Legendary for its reliability and easy torque production, this is the engine that made the CJ series famous. It's impressively clean and well detailed under the hood, suggesting that it's never seen really dirty trails and a few chrome dress-up pieces and an oversized radiator are welcome additions. Long-tube headers help the six breathe a little better and give it a snarky exhaust note thanks to a Flowmaster muffler in back. The 4-speed shifter is a lot of fun to row through the gears and a heavy-duty suspension gives it the ground clearance to really articulate over the terrain. You'll be impressed by how tidy it is underneath, so clean that you'll have second thoughts about using it as intended. Those huge BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires are brand new and wrap around handsome aluminum wheels that are the perfect complement to the show-stopping orange paint. Starting with a very clean original Scrambler body this Jeep was placed on a rotisserie and stripped to bare metal and painted in stunning Black. With its straight panels, factory correct body decals, and chrome accents, this Scrambler looks better than the day it left the factory. Photos and Receipts document the build out on this amazing Jeep. Under the hood is a Novak 5.3L LS engine conversion utilizing a 23k mile, 2007 fuel-injected GM 5.3L LS engine. This conversion gives this Scrambler true seat of the pants modern performance. Well executed, the engine bay is clean and tidy with a fresh black painted firewall and all wiring in order. The entire drivetrain from radiator to rear axle is new and was installed less than 1000 miles ago. The install included a new AX-15 5-speed manual transmission (regarded as the best five-speed transmission ever installed into a Jeep) new clutch, motor mounts, wiring harness, ECM computer, aluminum radiator, bell housing as well as new drive accessories on the front of the motor for reliability. The Scrambler chassis is straight, rust-free and includes a new limited-slip Dana 44 rear axle installed to handle the modern V8. The factory front axle was completely rebuilt, with a new steering box and ball joints added to insure tightness. This Jeep is also equipped with a Dana 300 four wheel drive transfer case with dual selectors allowing the driver to shift front and rear axles independently and into low and high ranges. New disc brakes were installed and use full-size Ford SUV pads and rotors for easy sourcing. Both axles received 4.10 gear ratios on new carriers. A 4? Skyjacker Softride leaf spring kit and Skyjacker shocks were installed, while chrome wheels and fresh BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires enhance the trucks look. Locking hubs on the front axles help reduce driveline wear when in 2WD. Over $12,000 was invested in the powertrain alone. The factory-style interior presents a polished utilitarian look with black metal dash, and painted surfaces. All rubber components were replaced and present nicely. Doors were disassembled and painted, then rebuilt with new latches and rubber.
