Sure, the Miata made 2-seaters relevant again, but it was the third-generation RX7 that fully cemented their light-weight, driver-oriented, joy-of-driving image. Still rotary powered, this RX7 was a fantastic performer in every regard and is still a delight to drive even by today's standards. Showing just 25,482 original miles, this is a very special 2-owner car. Originally purchased by a father for his son who went away to college, it's been exercised only about 500 miles per year since then. A lot of these were modified and raced (I recall that they were nearly invincible in Solo II competition), so finding an exceptionally clean, low-mileage example is quite extraordinary. It's wearing correct Montego Blue Mica paint, which is somewhere between blue and green depending on how the light hits it, and it's arguably the most appealing of all RX7 colors. It gives the car a more grown-up look that suits its grand touring image perfectly. As you'd expect, it shows very little wear and tear and thanks to living indoors all its life, it's got a vivid shine. Even the nose and soft rubber chin spoiler are excellent, and details like the fog lamps, Mazda emblem on the nose, and integrated rear spoiler make the car look clean and purposeful. This is still one great-looking sports car. The interior on this model (the Luxury model if you're an enthusiast) is obviously less hardcore than the R2 sports model and today it's the one you want to own. Handsome tan leather buckets show only minimal signs of age and use and the body-hugging contours are perfect for the athletic suspension. This is definitely a driver's car, with the controls tightly arrayed around the steering wheel and the gauges are bold, clear, and easy-to-read and covering all the major functions, including a big tach right in the center. Luxury features include power windows, A/C, and that incredible Bose stereo, whose wave-form speaker system is that complex-looking apparatus in the trunk. Carpets, dash pad, and even the leather-wrapped wheel remain in excellent condition with obvious signs of care. The sunroof opens wide enough to make the RX7 feel spacious inside and even with that speaker snaking through the rear compartment, there's a good bit of storage available, including a small package shelf behind the seats. The 1.3 liter twin-rotor Wankel engine is an RX7 trademark. With the most butter-smooth power curve and a sky-high 7000 RPM redline, this was an engine that re-wrote the rules. It's not a torque factory, but keep it spinning where it's happy and you'll find it's plenty punchy, especially with the RX7's modest curb weight, a fantastic combination. With so few miles, important things like the oil seals are still in good order so no worries there, and there are exactly zero modifications under the hood. It's linked to a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission that does a pretty good job of keeping the engine in its sweet spot and is quite unobtrusive when you're just commuting. The athletic all-independent suspension rides well and handles superbly, again thanks to the light weight bodywork, and massive brakes are effective and confidence-inspiring. Handsome 5-spoke alloy wheels are in excellent shape and wear 225/50/16 Pirelli radials all around. Go find another one this nice and with so few miles. With interest in Japanese sports cars ticking up, this is arguably the most desirable generation of all RX7s, and you just can't go wrong with a low-mileage original car like this. Nice little RX-7 just traded in. Convertible with upgraded radio. Raining really bad when we took these photos but we wanted to get it on eBay and Craigslist because it was low cost. This is a good little fixer up special. It runs and drives. When first starting up in ran a little cold. Shifted okay but clutch probably wearing a bit. Inside engine release would not pop up hood. Both lights popped up when lights turned on and went down smoothly when turned off. Some rust in different spots large spot near front left driver's tire. Color looks orange may be it was a red that has faded. Hood is white. Convertible has a patch on the top and also a tear on the bottom right but did not seem wet inside. Up for sale is a legally imported 1990 Mazda RX7 FC Turbo GTX. It is a true JDM, right hand drive vehicle with official import documents. It has no rust, and cosmetically fair. No large scratches or dents. I had it professionally detailed and it turned out really well. This is one of my favorite cars Ive imported. Very fun, low, feels like its on rails. It has a turbo back exhaust, I will check on the brand. I have a walk around video I can send to you as well. It blows smoke on start and after you've been driving it for a while. Its a leak by the turbo, I can assist on changing that out for you for a very fair price. The engine is strong as well as the clutch. It has a Blitz blow off valve and a NARDI steering wheel. Up for sale is a nice original example of the most sought after first generation rx7. I purchased this final year, 1985, GSL-SE with the intention to fix it up and sell it on to a new owner. The car sat for at least 10 years, It's technically a 2 owner car, but the original owner died several years ago and her brother licensed the car and drove it for a few years until he decided to park it, I purchased it from him. The car has all the original paperwork except for the window sticker. According to the records, the car was bought new in Idaho but immediately went to California and spent most of it's life there before coming back to Idaho. The clean title is still in the previous owner's name, but It's been signed off and I have a bill of sale. My wife and I are moving soon and I didn't have time to get it transferred to my name, (I live in Washington and out of state title transfers take several months) the car has expired Idaho tags. I've known about this car for a long time, but I never realized it was a GSL-SE, or I would have rescued it sooner! The car obviously had some issues from sitting and will still need some minor things. The paint is oxidized on the roof and passenger rear quarter and rear bumper. The car also had a partial respray in the past. The paint buffed out and the whole car shines, If you want it perfect it would need a paint job, but I like the patina look. There is absolutely no rust in the car and the body is in excellent shape, with hardly any dings. The interior is nice and original, There is a stain in the passenger seat and a small split in the bolster on the drivers seat that could probably be repaired easily. The dash has NO cracks. The original stereo system with equalizer is still in the car and sounds awesome. The car has A/C but its not blowing cold, probably needs recharged. The vents don't work only the defrost vents. This could be a fuse or something minor, that I'll look into. The high beams only work when you pull the stick back but not when you push it forward, in other words you can flash them but they don't stay on. This could also be a minor issue that I'll look into. The car does need a new crank mechanism for the top, its stripped and doesn't work without some help. The rear struts on the hatch need replaced, and one of the wires for the rear defrost is broken. The antenna doesn't work, neither does the gas door release, and the car needs new door seals. It also has an exhaust leak just before the cat. Everything else works inducing the cruise, power windows, and even the lighter. I replaced the fuel pump and filter and had the tank refurbished. The injectors were professionally cleaned, flow, and load tested and fitted with new screens and seals. Other new parts include intake gasket, clutch master and slave, after market aluminum 3 row radiator, cap, rotor, NGK plugs and wires, air filter and oil change. I also soaked the combustion chambers with ATF to revitalize the seals before I ever drove the car, and I've only put non-ethanol premium in it and added 2 stroke oil. The car runs awesome, pulls strong and shifts smooth. The handling is amazing although the old shocks do feel a little tired. These were said to be the best drivers cars of the 80's, since this is the GSL-SE it has the bigger 13B engine and disc brakes on all 4 wheels and LSD rear end. The car also has a removable top and was the top spec rx7. The car doesn't need much to be a very nice example, or drive it the way it is! I'd keep it if I could. Car runs better on e85 anyway plus you can choose any boost setting. On 93 oct you’re a little over the safe zone near 15lbs. I run the car at 19-22lbs depending on my mood. Peek power is at 25lbs and yes you can turn it up some more but I never wanted to risk it. This car is an absolute head turner. Pacific Northwest. Clean title and CARFAX, this RX7 has been owned by non smokers and has zero rust or corrosion. The aesthetics of this RX7 are completely stock. The GSL trim level is equipped with four wheel disc brakes, limited slip differential, removeable sunroof (both steel and glass roofs included), AM/FM stereo with six speakers and equalizer, cruise control, and power windows. This example also has leather seating as well. 2k miles ago the motor was rebuilt as a large street port that is polished on intake and exhaust. Internally the side plates were machined and renitrided while eccentric oil channels were widened. New stationary gears, bearings, reusable water seals/springs, and Atkins cryo seals were installed. The build also included a new Racing Beat clutch, oil pump, and oil pan baffle plate. A Racing Beat short primary header and Weber 48IDA carb round out the build. Recent maintenance includes a complete rebuild of the carb, new high flow catalytic converter, new battery, plugs and wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, oil change, and more. Other improvements include a new rear upholstery kit, custom floor mats, and new trim for the windows. Being 33 years old (where has the time gone) the car has some minor flaws. There are a few door dings on the passenger side door and front driver side fender that could be removed via PDR. Also, please bear in mind that the motor is heavliy modified and may not pass your local emmissions testing.
