Original rubber seals everywhere in astonishingly good condition for the age, they don't need changing! Tells you this car has led a garaged kept and sheltered life. Please note in these photos this car is not clean or detailed.  It would benefit dramatically from a quality detail job since it is lacking any remotely significant scratches. It starts instantly with no smoke or noise, even after sitting for months! Recent work has been done and invoices provided. There is far more money in this car than what it is worth. I owned a fleet of W108's and one of my vehicles, which I restored to 100% perfection, was the highest priced sold W108 in history. My buyer, who's name I do not disclose, is a Royalty and we all know his name. I sold all my W108's and this is the last one. I only have one long wheel base left, which will be my next restoration project. The reason I mention everything is because I want my buyers to know that you are buying from someone who knows this vehicles, knows what it needs to have to have value. There are many vehicles on the market you can buy but are they worth the money you will spend to restore? Will they be worth anything after you put in thousands of dollars? This particular car is the kind that is worth restoring and it is the car that will be worth money as a classic. There are two factors that make the car worth money. Number one, is the sunroof and the second is the fact that it is a floor shifter. It is very rare to catch them both on the same V8 car. Thats what makes this car valuable and rare. This is an awesome restoration material and you can be confident investing in it. As I mentioned, my vehicle sold at a price of a Mercedes 600 and it was a W108, 4.5, because it was a floor shifter and it had sunroof and it was fully restored. The car has no oil leaks. It has fair paint and is very presentable. The interior is fine. Carpets are fair. Seats are fair. Door panels are fair. All glass is fair and so is chrome. Sunroof works perfectly. Car has no real rust. It has minimal surface rust in couple of areas, which is very common on a car this age and mostly this model. The undercarriage is perfectly fine. Inside the trunk is clean and was painted for a cleaner look. The vehicle drives very nice. I drove miles and miles in it. As you can tell the wires inside the engine compartment were replaced. The car has a newer Interstate battery. If you are looking for a car to restore, this is it. If you were looking for a car to drive, this is it. it is a very presentable car. Does not need to be restored. Can be driven for years before you decide to restore it. Remember, that cars with options like this is always going to be worth money. Good luck with the purchase All inspections are welcome. I much rather have the buyer inspect the vehicle than have them tell me I was hiding something, which I am not. As you can understand, I am looking for a safe sale and someone that understands that this is not a brand new C class. It is a classic vehicle and has flaws. Up for sale is my 1969 Mercedes-Benz 220D sedan W115. I am only the 2nd owner! The first owner, purchased this car new in 1969 and I purchased it after his death in 2008. His wife had traded it at a local used car lot in southern Tennessee. All original books and records were included with with my purchase. I'd been looking for a car of this exact make, model, year and color combination because it was the EXACT car I was brought home from the hospital in as a newborn and my parents kept until I was a teenager (with over 350K on the odometer when they sold theirs!). I purchased this for sentimental value and for nostalgic reasons. In the last 8 years, I've driven it less than 2,000 miles! I crank and drive it around town a couple of time a month and open it up on the freeway to keep all the fluids fresh and belts and hoses working. I had it resprayed in 2008 and had some door dents/grocery cart dings removed and filled before the body shop repainted the car in factory-correct DB-460 "Dark Maroon". The car has never been in a wreck and is very straight and true. NO RUST ANYWHERE! Last year, I spent almost $3K in rebuilding the original manual transmission along with a ton of maintenance. I will upload this receipt from this work when my Mercedes mechanic sends e-mails it to me. All matching numbers on the chassis, transmission and engine! I have also changed the oil every year just to keep it fresh. I've entrusted all of the service and maintenance in the last 4 years to Helmut Telvini at Mercedeshop in North Miami Beach. Before then, Joe McCamble at Star Service Center in Memphis, Tennessee took care of it as did Mercedes Specialist of Oxford, Mississippi. Helmet is a Mercedes-only mechanic from Germany and knows these cars like the back of his hands. The car starts right up and doesn't smoke much at all while driving or idling. It's just a stunning ride to behold and everything works perfectly. A few problem issues include: the instrument cluster needs 2 new bulbs to illuminate correctly at night - I'm going to replace these before the auction ends. The transmission shifts smoothly through all 4 forward gears and reverse, but the shift linkages were installed backwards so it shifts from the opposite of what's shown on the gear shift ball - easy to learn where all gears live once you drive it for 1-2 minutes. While the car is equipped with a rare factory AC option and the compressor turns over, the AC doesn't blow cold. I and my mechanic are guessing at 128K miles as the odometer only has 5 figures and he says it's in extremely good overall condition and doesn't believe it to have covered more than 128K. As for any car that's turning 50 soon, it's not without slight cosmetic problems but I would honestly trust this car to drive anywhere with new tires (it's got tires that are about 12 years old now with plenty of tread left on them but they are slightly dry rotted around the side walls) and while they still drives fine, I don't like cursing above 70 on them. I had the original European headlights shipped from Germany and they are WAY brighter/nicer looking than the standard US sealed beam headlamps. One of the rear reflectors on the RH side fell off when it was being detailed last week but these only run about $20 on eBay. I'm going to try to see if they found it at the detail shop when they reopen tomorrow. It has all original windows - including the windshield and all original weather stripping. The rear LH headliner is sagging a little right next to the rear window but is otherwise in excellent condition and not sagging anywhere else except in their 5" area. There is a very small tear in the MB-TEX in the drivers seat (less than 1/4" around) and the RH rear carpet floor mat is coming a bit unraveled. Other than that, it's in excellent shape overall. The car will come freshly detailed and will include all books records (including original factory data cards) and both original keys from the factory (not copies!). Enjoy all of the high-res photos taken in the last 2 weeks of the car in various lighting conditions to better show you the overall quality of the car. This is an ALL-SOUTHERN (TN, MS, and FL only) car! Great shape, great mechanically and cosmetically, and turns heads. Very fuel efficient and fun to drive! BARN FIND- this remarkably preserved fintail was parked in a closed dry garage in Philadelphia for about forty years until we purchased it from the estate in 2014. It was missing its radiator and a few other parts. We put in a recored radiator, did a full brake job, maintenance, tie rods, tires, and a lot of minor repairs. It STARTS, RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE NEW. The exhaust smokes, don't know whether this will clear up or need engine repairs. The interior shows very little wear. See the original Pennsylvania state inspection sticker from its last inspection in 1974!LOOK at the pictures. There is practically no rust. Almost everything on the car is original. The (original) paint shows numerous chips, stains, and faded spots. It starts normally even in the cold, runs smoothly, the transmission shifts as new. No power steering makes it a tough steer. 1971 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe: Mercedes-Benz model nomenclature in the 1960s is difficult to follow once the tailfins disappear. The W108 and W109 family of sedans can mostly be recognized by the grille and front fenders  from the 1961 W111 design, with cathedral headlights in the European versions, which were replaced by vertically stacked 5-inch lights in the U.S. Mercedes-Benz's 250 series replaced the 220 and 230 six-cylinder models, and served as  the company's sensible sedan, with subdued design, leatherette interior, durable construction, and decent performance. The rear fins went away in 1965, and the new body was longer and lower. A new 2.5-liter 7-main bearing, 128-hp,  six-cylinder engine appeared in the 250S and 250SE sedans and was replaced in 1968 by the 2.8-liter variation which generated 180 hp. The 280S, 280SE and 280SEL – "L" is the long-wheelbase version – all have Bosch fuel injection and  gained four-wheel disc brakes. The hood and grille were lower by a couple of inches for 1969giving the car a more modern appearance. A series of handsome W111 280SE coupes and convertibles were made in parallel, with the same engine  advances and a 3.5-liter V-8 were available from 1969 to 1971.   This 1971 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Coupe is a Euro spec manual transmission example of the stately W111 class Mercedes. The car is very original inside and out and benefits from over $10k in recent updates and repairs including refurbished  suspension, new fuel pump and hoses, and much more detailed below. The Mercedes-Benz Data Card verifies that the car retains its numbers matching engine and factory options including sliding sunroof. These cars are an appealing mix of  old and new, combining the last iteration of the Fintail body style first seen in the 1950s with the new M116 SOHC V8 engine that saw use into the 1990s. The car was originally Metallic Beige and was repainted in the current off white  some years ago. The exterior is in very well preserved condition with original body panels. The body is straight with no evidence of any accident damage in the past, and the paint finish is in excellent condition overall. The extensive  brightwork is all intact and nicely polished with no pitting. Original wheels with body colored hubcaps are installed and complement the formal styling perfectly. The unrestored interior has some age related wear but is still very  presentable for a driver. Cognac leather seats have some discoloration and minor cracking and tears. The wood on the dashboard and A-pillars also shows some wear. The original carpets, door panels, headliner, and upper dash are all in  good condition. Notable interior options include front bucket seats, sliding sunroof, and power windows. A period correct Becker Grand Prix radio is installed and works well. The ivory steering wheel was recently replaced with a good  used OEM unit and is correct for the car. The odometer currently shows just over 9k miles and is believed to have turned over once. The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission and limited slip differential, setting it  apart as more of a driver’s car than the typical Mercedes coupe. The Mercedes runs and drives extremely well, having been recently given an extensive overhaul to address any known mechanical issues. Receipts are available upon request  for over $10k in maintenance work performed in the last 12 months. There are no known mechanical needs and the car is ready to drive any distance upon purchase. The undercarriage is solid and rust free with the factory undercoating intact. A small area of the floorboard has been  pushed in, possibly due to a misplaced jack. The only known corrosion was a small amount of rust near the front jack point on both sides, which was recently repaired correctly and is no longer an issue. A copy of the Mercedes-Benz Data  Card is included with the sale, along with invoices for the recent repairs and updates. This is an attractive original driver that combines classic Mercedes styling with a strong V8 engine, and the manual gearbox is a rare bonus for  this model. This 3.5 is a European model and was verified by the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center as having left the factory a 3.5 liter V8 engine with a 4-speed manual gearbox and delivered new to Europe. The car was imported to the United States sometime in the 1990’s and has been in AZ until moving to Southern California where it was placed in a large private collection in the mid 2000’s where it has resided ever since. The car has undergone a repaint in Mercedes Silver Grey Metallic and has a beautiful finish. The paint on the car was done sometime in the mid 2000’s along with many new rubber and trim pieces, all new Mercedes-Benz wood, a complete mechanical refresh and service, new suspension and front end and a re-work of the electrical system. In 2013 the car had a new timing chain and tensioners, belts and hoses, plugs and wires done and brand new period tires just put on the car last week. The paint finish is beautiful, there are no scratches, dents or dings on the car and there is absolutely no rust damage anywhere on the car or any rust repair work found. The undercarriage of the car is solid and clean and well presented. There are no signs of any accident damage or repair work of any kind. All of the chrome shows very well with light pitting in some areas but over all a very nice shinny finish with minimal age (one small dent in the passenger rear taillight chrome housing). The leather interior is completely original and in beautiful condition showing light patina. The car has traveled 81,890 actual miles and the interior shows exceptionally well. The leather has some age marks and slight creasing but there are no tears or damage to the leather. The carpets are the original German carpeting and show well for their age. All of the wood and switch gear are in outstanding condition. The engine starts right up and runs smoothly and does not smoke on start up or idle. The transmission shifts smoothly into gears without any grinding or slipping and the clutch has an excellent pedal feel without any slipping or fade. The brakes are solid and free from any fading or grinding. The steering is nice and tight and solid without any play or drifting. All of the electrical equipment is operating as designed including all of the exterior lights, turn signals, reverse lights, brake lights, taillights and headlights and all of the interior lights are functioning. The courtesy lights come on with the doors, the glove box light is working and all of the dash lights are working and the original power antenna and original Becker radio. Up for sale is a beautiful classic luxury sedan. This 280SE has spent its entire life here in the Scottsdale area and it shows! It features an inline 6 Bosch mechanically fuel injected engine, backed by an automatic transmission. This car runs and drives great! Also has A/C, P/S, P/B, Crank Windows, New 4 wheel disc brakes and 4 wheel independent suspension. (These cars really were ahead of their time.) All of these systems were inspected, repaired and replaced, if needed. Tires have less than 100 miles on them. I am selling my 1973 Mercedes 220. I have to many toys and some have to go. I hate to see it and not get used. It is in very good condition. I bought 2 Mercedes from my neighbor and listed one a few months ago on eBay. As you can see the buyer was very happy with the car. I was planning on keeping this one, but since I bought it, it has just been sitting. With winter coming it doesn't make sense to let it sit around. The interior is like new. The exterior is also in very good condition. It appears to have been redone. The lower molding on the driver side was in the car when I got it and can easily be put back on. The car drives down the road very nicely and everything seems to be in working order. There is no rust on the exterior of the car at all. The undercarriage is extremely clean. I tried to take a few pictures.the truck has a small sot on rust from the trunk mat getting wet and never being able to dry out, very minor.
