1971 MG Midget Restored w/5-Speed & Performance Upgrades ......please be patient while the many photos load..... Stunning 1971 MG Midget for sale in Sonoma California. Purchased by one of my friends who was so excited to get it but so sad when he first tried to get into the car and realized there was no way that he'd fit! So he asked me to put it up for sale to another appreciative collector whom may actually fit in the car! This 1971 MG Midget has had less than 1,000 miles added to its lifetime 85k total since completion of a 2008 restoration. Built with autocross and fast road use in mind, the car remains matching numbers and runs a built, 1293cc A-series, Nissan 5-speed gearbox, upgraded suspension and more detailed below. Roughly $23,000 in receipts document maintenance and refurbishment, including a fully stripped and rust-repaired body. The car is now completely corrosion free, sorted and ready to drive. Purchased by the seller in 1982, it was driven regularly before being disassembled for restoration. Other commitments delayed the project for several years, with work beginning in earnest in 1999. Body and paint were completed by Brooklands British Car in Tacoma, Washington, with the remainder of assembly done at the seller's home over a several year period. An unrestored, factory hardtop is included, and the car rides on 72 spoke 4.5" wide wire wheels including a spare. Bumpers have been re-chromed. The interior is clean and remains largely stock with original seats and steering wheel. Reproduction carpets, door panels, and a re-covered dash complete the tidy appearance. Instruments remain fully factory and are in good working order, and Willans four point harnesses secure both driver and passenger. The soft top and frame are included but need work, and though a new tonneau, tonneau bag and vent window rubber are included they are not currently installed. The tonneau in particular will need modification, as it does not accommodate the roll bar. Engine specs include a large valve APT head, Kent 276 cam, roller rockers, Romac harmonic balancer, ARP fasteners throughout, APT lifters, Aldon distributor, Maniflow intake with standard 1 1/4 SU carbs, LCB header (both manifolds Jet-Hot coated) and APT exhaust. An alloy rocker cover dresses things up, while an engine stabilizer bar and balanced driveshaft reduce driveline harshness. Suspension consists of Frontline Spridget front and rear upgrades (link is for front components, see menu for rears as well), while brakes run new discs, rebuilt calipers and new hydraulic cylinders. Spare and unused original parts include a Speedwell baffled high-capacity oil pan (needs seal mount brazed), original 48 spoke wheels, rebuilt factory transmission, original head (also rebuilt), an extra block and crank, headlight relay kit, transmission reverse light switch kit, HIF6 (1 3/4) carburetor and manifold, stock driveshaft, original suspension components, wiring harness and distributor. Documentation includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and aforementioned receipts. The seller recommends replacing the center wiper gearbox due to an incorrect ratio, though the car is in good running and driving order as-is. Asking price listed on our site. Subject to sale at any time. Reasonable offers will be considered. Available only at Left Coast Classics! 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Two Door HardtopYear1957MakeChevroletModelBel Air/150/210VINVC57N243634Stock NumberC15031Mileage214718TransmissionAutomaticEngine8 Cylinder, 283 cu. in. LExterior ColorGreenInterior ColorGreenTitleClearOffered for Sale by the California Automobile Museum Nicely restored 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Two Door Hardtop We Offer Financing Please inquire before bidding This is a very original example of the iconic 1957 Chevy that looks like it just arrived from the fifties in a time warp, perfect from it’s two tone paint right down to the wide white sidewalls. Slide behind the wheel in that beautiful interior and you almost expect to find the new car smell. This beautiful Chevy is a two door hard top with a 283 and automatic transmission. It’s a basic car without power steering or power brakes. This Chevy was restored in 1986 and has been in storage since then. Restoration included body work and paint, upholstery, rechromed bumpers with the engine and transmission rebuilt. Brake cylinders and tires were replaced at the last service and the car has been lightly driven for the past few years. The car runs and drives nicely, but it idles a bit rough so the carb may need some attention. This old Chevy is complete except for the original radio. The owner also wanted to give some history and background to her car, below is a letter in her own words: Dear prospective new owner: This is a brief history (and love letter), and an answer to why this wonderful vehicle is being sold. My beloved aunt gifted the 57 Chevy to me on my 17th birthday. The car had been bequeathed to her from a childhood boyfriend who became a life-long friend. They maintained a bi-coastal friendship until his untimely death. My aunt’s husband provided my initial driving instructions for the Chevy. Slow into the curve and accelerate out as we motored through the Bay Area hills. I must note that, to this day, I still cannot parallel park. At the conclusion of my two-week introduction to this mysterious, throaty and powerful vehicle, my aunt gave me the keys. For most of my life this Chevy has been my transport to school, college, jobs (a “company car”) and running out for shopping. My beloved Chevy has enjoyed the challenges of travelling to Yosemite, parking at the beaches in Santa Cruz and the back and forth of I5 and Highway 99. Her favorite travel destination was the Napa/Sonoma wine country. Upon leaving a winery I would often come upon folks who once owned a Chevy, lost a Chevy, enjoyed the drive-in movies in a Chevy, went on a prom date in a Chevy, or travelled on their honeymoon in a Chevy. This car was admired and photographed by many people recapturing their memories. As you can see from above, my Chevy was never a trophy car, although guys I dated always wanted to drive my car. This was a working car owned by a woman who appreciated its trunk capacity that could handle the numerous boxes of high heels I packed when travelling. When asked about the car’s specifications, I just knew that it was a two-door V8—powerful and gorgeous. Transitions occur. I thought the Chevy would always be mine until my job began to require increasingly lengthy road trips that the Chevy found challenging, and gas prices started escalating. Power brakes and steering began to look attractive. But it was the company I worked for (which provided a car allowance) that finally said, “get a modern car”, and so I did. That car was a Lexus SC430 coupe, which became my new dream car. It didn’t replace the Chevy—it was just radically different. For example, its small trunk couldn’t haul nearly the number of shoes that the Chevy could. The Lexus was recently totaled in a stupid rear-end accident, and sadly my 57 Chevy cannot transition back into the every day car she originally was. I always thought she was a keeper, but sadly I must now let her go. I hope that the new owner will experience the same enjoyment I did over the past 49 years. Sincerely, LillieThis vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
