The TF, unveiled in late 1953, represented a major evolutionary step for MG with its repositioned headlamps, new bonnet design, sloping hood line and raked radiator. TF 1500 has proven to be the most desirable of the T-Series cars as it marked the end of the series with more power and better handling. MG aficionados hold the model in very high regard, as they believe it represents the final evolution of MG's iconic and classic design. Outfitted in the ideal British livery of BRG over Tan leather upholstery, this particular MG TF benefits from a nicely mellowed older restoration. Today, it makes for an excellent driver or touring contender. The car shows evidence of much care and attention to detail and although the cosmetics have slightly aged it still remains a very attractive example. This example is striking in its attire, complete with tan weather gear including folding top, a full set of side curtains, boot cover and luggage rack. Its correct "matching numbers" XPEG 1500cc engine performs very well. The undercarriage has been thoroughly detailed and shows the quality of its previous restoration. Ideal for all around fun and enjoyment, this TF1500 represents one of the most desired post-war MGs and truly embodies the essence of British motoring at a fraction of the cost of its counterparts. $39,500.00 Offers Welcomed Full Resolution Photos: 1955 MG TF1500 To learn more about this vehicle, please contact our sales department at (281) 497-1000 or [email protected] SELLING YOUR CAR? Evolution was slow at Morris Garage, but there's a reason why cars like this 1953 TD were brought home by the hundreds by GIs returning from Europe, and why they remain wildly popular today. 1953 was also the final year of the TD, and for many enthusiasts, the separate headlights and fenders define the vintage MG look. The look is pure pre-war, with separate fenders and a long hood, but the energetic handling and performance were quite contemporary. This MG was completely and expertly restored in 2008, but it wasn't over-restored to the point where you're afraid to drive it, which misses the point entirely. The body construction was traditional, but that also means that it's light and easy to repair, and this one shows no signs of serious damage or the MG's arch-nemesis, rust. Hood and door fit are quite good, and the creamy English White paint is a very authentic-looking finish that's neither too shiny nor full of metallic, both of which are instant giveaways to incorrect choices. It shows only a few light signs of use, of course, but the overall presentation is what endears MGs to their legions of fans. Of course, things like the chrome grille, stand-alone headlights, and simple bumpers give it an old-fashioned look, and they're all in excellent shape. Inside the diminutive cabin, there's adequate room for two, and once you settle into the low-slung bucket seats and assume the proper driving position, you'll find it's easy to spend hours behind the wheel without fatigue. Well, maybe your cheeks will be hurting from grinning so much, but the driving experience is involving without being exhausting. The leather seats have been properly reupholstered in pleated tan leather, which matches the door panels that offer useful storage pockets. The lovely dashboard is genuine wood, not a veneer, and houses a full array of Jaeger instruments that have been fully restored and sparkle with a truly British look. The three spoke steering wheel is still the universal symbol for sports car, and has been completely restored to a high level like the rest of the interior. And since MG lovers are serious about their cars, this one offers a matching tan canvas convertible top as weather protection, which quickly separates the men from the boys, although it does include a full set of side curtains for truly inclement weather. The whole point of an MG isn't brute power, but they're plenty peppy with the 1250cc inline-four, and it has a wonderful baritone exhaust note that's half the experience. It was rebuilt during the 2008 restoration and this one really is a wonderful runner, firing up easily through dual side-draft carburetors with chrome air cleaners. The whole engine is scarcely bigger than a briefcase, but all the parts are easy to get at and maintain, which is why MGs are so beloved today. The engine's linked to a slick-shifting 4-speed manual transmission whose light action and progressive clutch are the cornerstone of performance driving and make it a joy to run at 8/10s. The chassis is a simple ladder frame, and as I mentioned before, there's zero rust or rot underneath, just a neatly detailed undercarriage that shows how thorough that restoration really was, because it's very, very clean. Stock steel wheels with chrome hubcaps look right and wear appropriately tall 165R15 radial tires. One drive and you'll see why it's so easy to love an MG, and this TD delivers that old-world fun with the benefits of a quality restoration behind it. 1955 MG TF-1500 I think the MG TF 1500 is the most beautiful MG ever made and I sincerely believe my "TF-1500" is the best of the best and most beautiful of them all! If you don't think so, please take another look at the photographs. I see that other cars (dealers?) are much more expensive than mine (see price comps below) but I'll put my car next to theirs any day of the week. Although not in her original color, in her MG Red paintwork she looks absolutely fabulous. This paintwork must have involved taking the "Body Off" completely as both under the Car, under the Dashboard and under the Hood are the same MG red. My Car also has "NUMBERS MATCHING" as confirmed by British Motor Industries Heritage Trust Certificate number 2014/1581 (please see photo). The MG TF’s were manufactured between July 13th, 1954 and April 4th, 1955 with Body Numbers TF-6501 – TF-10100, a 14 month production run of 3,600 cars. It’s pretty obvious when looking at my Car, that a Very Extensive Restoration has been carried out as evidenced by the Car's really good condition and which the photos ably confirm. The indicated mileage is 1,927 which I believe to be the mileage covered since the restoration. While I have no real reason to disbelieve it, I can't substantiate it either. The car’s original color was Almond Green with a Green Interior. A previous owner had the sense to change it to MG Red and the paintwork is in exceptional condition save for the very few stone chips, etc., (there are no dents) that unavoidably come with use. The interior was also changed to Factory Matching, Red Leather with White Piping which also shows beautifully and is also in excellent condition. The TF came into being when sales of the TD slumped with the introduction of the faster, more modern-looking and similarly priced Triumph TR2. Morris Garages, makers of MG cars, merged with the Nuffield Organization to form the British Motor Corporation (B.M.C.). Considerable funding had just gone into the newly introduced Austin-Healey and, although designs for the MG-A existed, there was a shortage of liquid capital with which to put it into production. As a cost-efficient alternative, in 1953, the TF was introduced. Among the many changes; it had a sleeker Nose and a more graceful Tail. The Radiator was sloped back and the Hood-line inclined downwards to meet it. The Headlights were partially faired-in and the front Fender profile was modified. At the rear, the exposed Fuel Tank and Spare Wheel Carrier were made more rakish with the rear Fenders sporting a shapelier flare to match. Overall, the TF was 3.5 inches longer, an inch wider and half an inch lower. Individual, adjustable Seats replaced the previous Bench Seat and there was a new, centrally located Instrument Panel featuring the now famous and handsome, MG Octagonal Gauges. It was initially well received but times had moved on. Production ceased in mid 1955 with B.M.C. needing to devote its time and energy to the initial production of the MG-A. Only 3,400 TF-1500's were manufactured with the majority coming to America, to Canada and into Europe. Now about my Car:- Per the B.M.I.H.T. certificate, she was built between the 8th and the 12th of October, 1954. She had then, as now, Car/Chassis (V.I.N.) Number HDE43/7418, Engine Number XPEGTF1274, Body Number TF18013 and the factory optional, Chromed Wire Wheels. It was shipped from the factory to the U.S. on October 13th, 1954 Although she is a remarkable 60+ years old, she is in great, restored condition. During her history, many parts were chrome-plated that weren’t so plated by the factory. You’ll find these plated parts in all sorts of places including the Gas Tank sides and, believe it or not, all the Brake Drums and even the Prop Shaft, etc., etc., and especially under the hood. So if you're looking for a car that you can confidently drive to and successfully enter in your local car shows, she is it! Completely Rust-Free with the Undercarriage in excellent condition including all the recent, visible Wooden Components. Although she has been repainted during her 60 year life; the Paintwork has very few, very minor scars of being driven and there are no dents. The original Chrome-plated Parts and the Manufacturer's Badges, etc., are original and in excellent condition. The Clock doesn't work (they never do!) and the Horns and lights work. She has the very minor fluid leaks that just go with the era. I actually think I solved one by tightening the Oil Filter Housing. But, you know what they say about the British classic sports car, "if it doesn't leak, it's because there's no oil in it"! The Engine starts instantaneously from cold with short-lived use of the Choke and runs smoothly, idling at around 800 rpm and enthusiastically awaiting your use. She accelerates willingly with that gorgeous sound from the new Stainless Steel Exhaust with a Polished Muffler. She changes smoothly through all the Gears. First and Reverse are the typically noisy, Moss, straight-cut, non-synchromesh gears. There is virtually no play in the Steering but please remember that the driving position is the older "you can almost hit the horn button with your chest" style. The Steering is quite heavy at slower speeds compared with modern day cars as, in those days, there was no power assistance. The "Emergency" Brake works as it should and the car's Brakes are also good but do require more pressure than one is used to with modern cars (again, no power assistance). Similarly, comparatively heavy, the Clutch can give you wheel spin at the start in First Gear if you wish - proof that the Clutch is good. The Gauges, Switches and Lights have been checked and/or repaired/replaced and work as they should. She has been comprehensively serviced including:- All Fluid levels checked. The Radiator back-flushed and refilled with water. If you live where winters are a problem, please refill with Anti-Freeze. Fuel System checked. Carburetors checked. Air Cleaners cleaned. New Points, Distributor Cap, Condenser and Plugs fitted. Generator and Voltage Regulator checked. Other items of interest:- Chrome Wire Wheels and all 4 Brake Drums. Plenty of Chrome-Plated parts under the Hood, Fenders and at the rear. Four new Tires and a spare. A new, full, black, Tonneau Cover still in the supplier’s box un-opened. I also have an un-used white one if you'd prefer that? Twin, vintage, lap-type, Safety Belts. New Lucas PL700 headlights similar to those fitted to Rolls Royce and other British super luxury cars of the era have been fitted. Working Lucas SLD/SPF576 Spot/Fog Lights of the era and a wired/switched/working Reversing Light have been fitted. A brand new Badge Bar with brand new B.R.S.C.C., B.A.R.C. and MG Abingdon Badges. New Twin, fender-mounted Wing Mirrors and new, twin and of the era, vintage Windscreen Wind Wings etched with “1955 MG TF 1500” have been fitted. New battery cut-off switch fitted for security. She has the original Crank Handle (properly secured behind seats); twin Hood Stays (unusual); an MG Jack with Crank; an of-the-era, working, Hand Air Pump and the correct, Thor, Brass-headed Hammer for the Chromed, Wire Wheel, Knock-on Hubs. On the Passenger-side, Interior Valance a genuine antique, of-the-era, Polished Brass "Presto" mini Fire Extinguisher has been fitted in the original bracket. As the retardant is now illegal, the contents have been evacuated, so the Extinguisher is for decorative purposes only. There is a full MG Toolkit in a new Embroidered-Logo Toolroll. The Hood or Top is White and in good condition as is the rear, transparent window and the Hood's Frame-work. All four, White Side Screens, including the transparent vinyl, are in good condition. However, you surely don’t intend to take her out in the rain so I suggest you wrap them securely and put them in the attic where they belong. She also comes with a new Workshop Manual, an old-style but new Driver's Handbook (i.e. comprehensive) and Driver's Routine Service Manual and several publications which will interest you. A physical inspection by you and/or your agent is cordially invited but by appointment please. I am asking $38,950 but I'll certainly look at your reasonable offer. Typically of classic cars, she is offered on the basis of "AS IS, WHERE IS" and in strict and sole accordance with the terms of a mutually agreed, written SALE/PURCHASE AGREEMENT and a formal BILL OF SALE. My Florida title for the car is clean and unencumbered. So, how does my car and price compare with other cars advertised recently and believed to be in similar condition? Here follows a list of everything comparable that I could find:- MG TF 1500. Featured in Red with matching Red interior and Black top, this car was subject to a complete nut & bolt restoration to the highest standards by MG experts. Post WWII American servicemen discovered the joys of these simple and nimble roadsters and they were subsequently imported to the US in large numbers. For many people these T series cars were their introduction to sports cars, and a lot of racing drivers started out the MGs. For collectors today these cars still offer the virtues of fun and simplicity. They are easy to work on and virtually any part is available brand new. With the top down, they are ideal for cruising back roads and challenging your favorite twisty bits. This is the best-restored MGTD that we have had the pleasure to offer. The restoration is meticulous and authentic, making this car a concours candidate. But it would also make a wonderful tour car as it is delightful to drive. Bring your string-back gloves! Classics is proud to present this superb 1952 MG TD Roadster. The first generation TA introduced hydraulic brakes, better suspension tuning, a reliable and responsive pushrod 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed gearbox borrowed from the Morris 10. After the war, production resumed and so did the evolution of the T series. Each successive model of which was imported in large numbers to an American market with an appetite for European-style sports cars. The TF sweeping bodywork, optional wire wheels and an inline-4 rated at 63 HP. Like its predecessors, the TF offered responsive road manners and superior handling, perfect for the club racing that became so popular after the war. This 1954 MG TF roadster hails from a private collection in the Southwest and represents one of the most sought after models of the MG brand. It features stunning red paint with a lovely black interior and matching top, all nicely accented with chromed wire wheels. 0 0 1 609 3474 Goodman Reed Corporation 28 8 4075 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Offered for sale is our striking 1955 MG TF 1500 with its original, numbers matching engine and transmission and finished in gorgeous Dark Green over a Biscuit leather interior with a tan canvas soft top. Always a California car that spent a vast majority of its life in the arid climate of the Central Valley, the car was used as a weekend driver/survivor between the 1970s and 2007. At that point it received a cosmetic refurbishing and mechanical sorting, and from that point forward it has been used sparingly on pleasant days, always garage-kept and maintained and never subjected to the elements. The result of this refurbishing and subsequent careful use is a wonderful turn-key example, needing nothing to be enjoyed. As the pictures show, the dark green finish is entirely consistent without any significant imperfections or evidence of rust. The chrome trim is all in excellent condition, as is the welting between the body panels, and the steel wheels are in great shape and wrapped in Dunlop radial tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car’s interior was completely reupholstered in beautifully offsetting Biscuit leather and remains in excellent condition, the leather seats and interior panels appearing virtually as new, the carpets entirely presentable and the dash clean and correct, housing the original octagonal Jaeger gauges, indisputably some of the most aesthetically appealing gauges produced in the era. Lastly, the car’s frame and undercarriage are solid and correct with no structural rust or corrosion to speak of, a testament to the car’s dry California existence. Believed to have amassed only 64k miles in its 60 years of service, the original numbers matching XPEG 1500 engine is strong and sound, firing up easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly through each of the original 4-speed transmission’s gears. Despite its sparing use, the car was always maintained as needed and it runs and drives beautifully. There seems to be no propensity for overheating, the ride quality is visceral and sporty (as it should be), and after having thoroughly enjoyed a few dozen miles up and down the Santa Barbara coastline, we’d not hesitate to take this lovely driver out on an extended tour. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a timelessly beautiful, very original MG TF 1500 finished in what is undoubtedly one of the very best liveries. An example that’s in turn-key condition, its been well-loved by its previous California owners and will undoubtedly provide its next with decades of trusty, grin-inducing service. We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed. Goodman Reed Motorcars We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic rotating collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this TF 1500 (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

Up for sale is 1952 MG TD MKII Black/Red/White. The TD is an award winning moving piece of artistic sculpture. Starting from an excellent condition original driver, in 2007 the car received a frame-off no expense spared restoration and has less than 2,500 miles since completion. Only the best parts available from Moss Motors were used in the restoration with a sharp eye on factory originality, period correctness, reliability, modern drivability and perfection of material finishes. This TD has been in a continuing state of restoration, upgrades and refinements since its restoration. The little cars surfaces are all very clean. The TD's wood, leather, vinyl, cloth, carpet, chrome, steel, aluminum, brass, copper, glass, plastic, rubber and painted finishes are all near flawless. The exterior fit and finish are all in perfect alignment. The black body welting and bonnet seals are a work of art. The interior is stunning, red leather, black carpet and white convertible top, side curtains and tonneau cover. Every item on the car is working correctly (except the clock) including all the electrical items attached to the cars new factory correct wiring harness. All parts on the car are ether new, rebuilt or restored to very high standard of quality and all executed with incredible workmanship. All the chrome is original to the car and was re-plated and is now flawless. The high quality multilayer single stage enamel paint job is near perfect, providing a mirror like reflections at every angle. The paints surface quality also extends to the engine compartment and underside of the car. The drivetrain is original to the car and all numbers matching. It has had many internal enhancements that allow the car to keep pace with modern traffic. The 1250CC engine was professionally rebuilt in 2007 now has the correct seals for modern gas, 9 to 1 compression ratio, ported & polished heads /intake manifold, larger valves and pistons. The engine is balanced and blue printed. The engines oiling system was also enhanced with better designed oil pump and the oil gauge reads 60 PSI when at normal operating temperature and it also has the modern rear Scroll Seal from Moss Motors, so it is not a big oil leaker. To complete the engines show quality appearance a nice polished finned aluminum valve cover, side covers all with red MG logos. The carburetors were just rebuilt, and have nice chrome carburetor cleaners. The generator and the voltage regulator were re-manufactured, new Lucas starter and new SU fuel pump. The car is still running the stock point system that I just replaced with new. The car also recently received, replacement spark plugs wires, spark plugs, cap and rotor. The transmission and rear end were professionally rebuilt in 2007 and shifts nicely and has no usual noises. The rear end was converted to the 4.3:1 rear end gearing that allows the car to maintain an acceptable RPM range and keep pace with modern freeway traffic. The car achieves 3500 RPM @ 60 MPH, 3,800 RPM @ 65 MPH and 4,000 RPM @ 70 MPH, possible 100 MPH @ 6,000 RPM. The MG's cooling system has been enhanced and is running a clean stock radiator with an electric cooling fan, Moss Motors water pump and modified original thermostat set to open at 70 degrees Celsius and the restrictor plate, Redline wetter water and aftermarket bullet aluminum overflow bottle. I drove the car last week on a hot, 95 degree day on the freeway at 3800 RPM for 35 miles and the temperature gage stayed under 90 degrees Celsius. The cars steering, suspension feel good at highway speeds and breaking systems are all like new and in order. The car has new 165 radial tires and stops quickly with no pedal fade, excessive movement or unwanted noises or raddles. The car is surprisingly fast and corners well. I have just changed all fluids with fresh. 20w50 engine oil and filter, new type synthetic DOT 4 brake fluid, 90w gear oil in the rear end and 90w120 gear oil in the transmission. ATF in the dash pots, motorcycle fork oil in the rack & pinion, changed the oil in the lever shocks, 50% mix of water and green antifreeze and wetter water. I also lubed all the Zert fittings, so it is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Here is a list of items that are included with the sale • A big box of spare and used parts, • containers of correct liquid fluids for the car • The original MG jack, lug wrench and manual starting handle • An original owner's manual • 2 ea. beautiful red reproduction Corvette C1 seat belts • 2 ea. round Lucas type side view mirrors attached to the wind screen • 2 ea. This is a beautiful car which makes it an excellent candidate for any collection in need of an early post World War II piece. These cars have been on a consistent increase in value with no end in sight. The previous owner stated that this wonderful MG TD was the recipient of a nut & bolt restoration in the spring of 2014 and it shows. This TD is finished in classic British Racing Green on the outside, which looks astounding and the color really pops with the new tan canvas top. The paint is in beautiful condition and only shows very, very minor imperfections. The tan canvas top is new with vinyl windows and is easily removed so that you may feel the wind in your hair out on the open road. The side curtains are also new and look great. Overall, this MG shows extremely well. The interior is just as spectacular as the exterior of the car. It is new and finished in the original style leather that originally came with the TD Roadster. The seats are wrapped in tan leather, which contrasts the British Racing Green paint wonderfully. The bucket seats are in great shape and show minimal imperfections. The dashboard is absolutely stunning. It was handmade from solid oak during the restoration process which is gorgeous and it houses a set of original style gauges.
