But at the end of the day, one thing is certain: it didn't take long for EVERYONE to join the party. And by 1970, the tried and true formula for Oldsmobile's storied 442 produced well-groomed street fighters like this incredible W30 hardtop. The subject of a 3-year, ground-up restoration, this razor-sharp Olds is a fully documented classic that wraps a numbers-matching drivetrain in all-original sheetmetal. If you're in the market for a first-class muscle car, it's time to stop debating and start calling! BODYWORK/TRIM A factory-correct car that reportedly hails from the dry climate of west Texas, this top notch A-Body features a solid, all-original profile that's covered in clean, Classic White 2-stage. That paint, and the traditional gold stripes that complement it, is a direct result of an extensive, 3-year restoration that wrapped up in the Spring of 2015. And today, five figures in to the future, this 442 is a timeless muscle car that intimidates like a cruise missile and shines like the family's best silver. Oldsmobile's modernist, mid-century design aesthetic was no doubt a play on its engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy, and the cars that proudly carry those lines continue to weather exceptionally well. At the front of this coupe, a 442-specific grille centers monochromatic "442" lettering between stainless-trimmed T3 headlights and a bright chrome bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye to like-new glass that rides behind straight stainless frames. At the sides of that hood, traditional GM door handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement clean marker lamps, dent-free wheel rings and a slick combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a "442" branded decklid hangs a factory wing above a second chrome bumper, silver-trimmed taillights and correct, trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE Hoist this Olds' scooped hood and you'll find an original, 455 cubic inch Rocket V8 that's branded with a correct 396021F casting number and matching partial VIN. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, that red hot mill is a reliable, big-port big block that, in factory form, twists stout 10.5 to 1 compression into a quick 370 horsepower! Stomp the throttle and a restored Rochester 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct W-30 air cleaner, and shoves it in to a Winters aluminum intake. At the back of that intake, a traditional points distributor feeds fire through proven Packard TV R Suppression Cables, which snake around correct "F" heads and stamped and painted valve covers. Below those covers, freshly restored exhaust manifolds shoot charred dinosaurs in to big, true-dual pipes. Mechanically, the stout engine is all day reliable, spinning 500 lb./ft. of rock-crushing torque from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. Aesthetically, familiar plastic fenders and Metallic Blue block skin look fantastic against the car's clean body. There's a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes factory air conditioning and a correct Delco Moraine brake booster. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its fresh decals and pliable GM hoses to its color-keyed intake springs and Delco-topped battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket fronts an original 3-speed, which hangs a correct "70 - OW" assembly tag opposite a matching partial VIN. That tough transmission sends power to a stout, 12-bolt axle. That driveline pushes a familiar Heavy Duty Suspension, which, along with the car's chassis, was thoroughly marked and tagged during the detailed restoration. Solid stops are provided by rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes. Turns come courtesy of a familiar Saginaw gearbox, which is piped to factory power steering. At the center of the floors, aluminized exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on charcoal SSIIs, which spin 225/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around polished trim rings and rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR This impressive coupe's correct, well-optioned interior is so fresh it looks like it just rolled out of the upholstery shop. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fade-free carpet that's protected by "442 W-30" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests behind convenient power windows and optional power door locks. A wood-trimmed dash hangs deluxe telemetry above simple AC controls, optional audio equipment and a hidden button that actuates the car's sizeable trunk. At the base of that dash, a slim console frames a slim Hurst shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, the aforementioned trunk anchors a fifth SSII and vintage Goodyear Polyglas between a small light, correct tools, bright decals and a fresh mat. HISTORICAL INFORMATION It's pretty easy to confirm this handsome Oldsmobile's status as an authentic 442. Here's a look at the car's 442-specific VIN and Cowl Tag. Sure, you can go the LS5 or LS6 Chevelle route, but the best bowties will set you back a small house or two. And the same goes for the most desirable members of Buick's GS family and Pontiac's GTO line. Well, what if we said you could take home a magazine-featured, national award-winning example of a limited production A-body, which many GM enthusiasts aren't even aware of, for under $40K? That's probably enough to get your undivided attention, right? In addition to being a loud, broad-shouldered hunk of the rocket division's best metal, this Oldsmobile is 1 of just 3,547 Cutlass Rallye 350s ever produced. Restored with an acute attention to detail, the car features a roster of correct parts that range from an original engine all the way down to a sorted FE2 suspension. And best of all, these qualities exist within a balanced, fun-to-drive classic that doesn't require a second mortgage! HISTORY/CREATION Historically, the Rallye 350 is a pretty interesting piece. The Big Three seemed to understand that the muscle-car era was a bubble that would eventually be popped by rising insurance costs and increased government regulation. And in the case of Oldsmobile, prolonging the inevitable meant creating a fun, affordable car that was capable of turning heads using a rather conservative small block. To ramp up appeal, Olds compiled various trim pieces into a unique visual package that's highlighted by Sebring Yellow paint and very aggressive striping. Up front, a black, silver-trimmed grille, borrowed from the Cutlass S, rides between a urethane-coated bumper and pinned 442 W25 hood. Styled Steel II wheels join painted sport mirrors and trumpeted exhaust tips to mix a little function into form. And out back, a 442 W35 wing floats over black-trimmed taillights and a second urethane-coated bumper. The end result is a brand of visual punch that's simply unmatched by anything this side of Chrysler's brightest Hi Impact pastels. And, in reality, the package might've been a bit too risqu for Olds' traditionally conservative buyer base, resulting in relatively low production numbers and a high level of exclusivity. BODYWORK During a 4.5-year restoration that was completed in early 1995, this solid Cutlass was thoroughly stripped, carefully disassembled and treated to entirely new body panels with the exception of its floors, roof and driver's door. After hours of hard work, the car's clean profile presented itself as an excellent foundation for correct Sebring Yellow 2-stage. And today, one close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest looking muscle cars on the planet! ENGINE When this Olds' restorer found his new project listed deep in the classifieds, it had been upfitted with a 455 cubic inch big block. Fortunately, the seller had retained the car's original L74 Rocket 350 and was willing to include it with the sale. Hoist the fiberglass hood and you'll find that original mill proudly displaying a correct 395558 casting number in front of a matching partial VIN. At the top of the nickel-infused block, a big Quadrajet 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a correct, low-restriction air cleaner. That air/fuel mixture travels in to a high performance intake that's anchored by a traditional points distributor. That distributor feeds fire through proven Packard TV R Suppression Cables, which snake around correct "6" heads that are equipped with hardened valve seats and 3-angle valve jobs. Below those heads, forged, .030 over pistons shoot charred dinosaurs into cast iron exhaust manifolds and big, true-dual pipes. Aesthetically, the car's Satin Black fenders and snazzy gold block look fantastic against its bright yellow paint. Thanks to the pros at Wallingford, Connecticut's East Coast Machine & Performance, the stout powerplant is all day reliable. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its vintage decals and Frigidaire AC compressor all the way to its re-cored radiator and tagged Delco Energizer battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome Cutlass is completely solid and, thanks to a fully powder-coated chassis, shows no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 350 fronts a rugged Muncie 4-speed that's much more fun than the car's original Turbo-Hydramatic 350. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt that's equipped with a limited-slip differential and moderate, 3.42 gears. That driveline hangs in a correct FE2 Rallye suspension, which includes better shocks, thicker coil springs, reinforced control arms and a mandatory rear sway bar. Power-assisted discs and drums provide braking, while turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through buff DynoMax Super Turbo mufflers. And at the corners of the car, color-keyed Styled Steel IIs spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around stainless trim rings and rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR For what was meant be a somewhat stripped-down Cutlass, the Rallye 350's interior offers plenty of visual niceties that give it a much more upscale feel. Open the doors to find sophisticated side panels that are accented with bright stainless and rich wood applique. Step past the Fisher Body sill plates and you'll find clean black carpet that's plush and fade-free. A nicely finished combination of bucket and bench seats mixes a stylish pattern with plenty of support. Between those seats, a factory console frames a long Hurst shifter. Above that console, an ornate dash hangs full telemetry over a standard AM/FM radio. The driver stays connected to the road through a correct Custom Sport steering wheel. And the passengers stow their essentials next to a fifth Styled Steel II/Firestone Wide Oval combination that's housed in a fully restored trunk. And today, when you're looking to grab a piece of Detroit's finest iron without closing out your retirement, a numbers-matching Oldsmobile is one of the smartest purchases on the market. There's no reason a blue chip classic should cost more than the mortgage on your house. And there's ABSOLUTELY no reason spending six figures of your hard earned money shouldn't get you a distinguished award winner like this incredible W-30. 1 of only 1,032 W-30 4-speed Holiday coupes built for the 1970 model year, this freshly restored Olds pairs an original, 455 cubic inch V8 with a tough Muncie 4-speed and correct Platinum on Black aesthetics. And if you're the kind of gearhead who likes to take their hardware to the show, it's the lust worthy trophy king you've been saving for! BODYWORK/TRIM Assembled in Lansing, Michigan during the fourth week of October, 1969, this awesome Oldsmobile is an impeccably maintained classic that still features all of its original sheetmetal. During an extensive, rotisserie restoration that was completed in the Spring of 2014, that solid profile was decked in correct Platinum base, trimmed with sinister stripes and sealed in glossy clear. And today, the car rolls as one razor-sharp coupe that mixes minimalist looks with a no-nonsense demeanor. Like all second generation A-bodies, the 442 continued to get better year after year. The car's clean, boxy lines were no doubt a play on its parent division's engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy, and the resulting design continues to weather exceptionally well. At the front of this coupe, a 442-specific grille centers monochromatic "442" lettering between stainless-trimmed T3 headlights and a bright chrome bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye to a new windshield that, along with the car's all-original greenhouse, rides behind straight stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, traditional GM handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement clean marker lamps, dent-free wheel rings and a slick combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a smooth decklid hangs more monochromatic "442" lettering above a second chrome bumper, silver-trimmed taillights and correct, trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE It's not immediately apparent why this Olds' body carries so much sizzle; that is, until you see what's under its hood. Twist the locks, fling the resin and you'll find 455 cubic inches of Rocket V8 that hangs a correct 396021F casting number over a matching partial VIN. Stomp the throttle and a restored Quadrajet 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct W-30 air cleaner, and shoves it in to a high performance, aluminum intake. Mechanically, the stout mill is all day reliable, spinning 500 lb./ft. of rock-crushing torque from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. Aesthetically, familiar plastic fenders and Metallic Blue block skin look fantastic against the car's Platinum body. There's a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes American Autowire wiring and a new 4-core Harrison radiator. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its fresh decals and vivid firewall stamps to its tagged brake lines and color-keyed intake springs. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 455 fronts a correct close-ratio Muncie, which was professionally rebuilt in the fall of 2013. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt, which employs moderate, highway-friendly gears. That smooth driveline hangs in a familiar heavy-duty suspension, which, along with the car's chassis, was thoroughly sandblasted and powder-coated during the rotisserie reboot. Solid stops are provided by rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes. Turns come courtesy of an old school manual steering rack. At the center of the car, a correct Gardner exhaust system funnels spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on powder-coated steelies, which spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around dog dish hubcaps. INTERIOR Inside this impressive coupe, you'll find a Black Legendary interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh carpet that's protected by Cutlass floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests in bright chrome handles, straight stainless trim and fresh wood applique. A wood-trimmed dash hangs basic telemetry above an old school AM radio. At the base of that dash, a slim boot frames a broad Hurst shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a bright rocket emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth steel wheel and fifth Firestone tire between a small light, correct tools and a fresh mat. Not only did we sell our awesome Cutlass pro-tourer we introduced a sweet Rallye 350 and featured a national award-winning Cutlass 442 And if you're in the market for a classic Olds, but none of those options moved you, we're now debuting this razor-sharp 442 resto mod. In addition to highly desirable aesthetics, this impressive A-Body mixes an all-Oldsmobile drivetrain with a thorough, ground-up restoration that was completed in June of 2015. If you're looking for an exclusive muscle car that's live, loaded and ready to launch, strap yourself in to this big block rocket! BODYWORK/TRIM During its recently completed restoration, this authentic 442 sports coupe, 1 of only 4,282 produced for the 1968 model year, was entirely disassembled and completely stripped of its dull, original pigment. After a bit of hard work, the car's clean body presented itself as an excellent foundation for a slick combination of Ebony Black and Provincial White 2-stage. And today, a close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest looking muscle cars on the planet! Unlike most massaged classics, this Olds wasn't entirely stripped of its stainless and ornamentation. Instead, the baubles and bolt-ons were carefully supplemented with a few tweaks that highlight the car's awesome 'coke bottle' profile and intimidating street presence. At the front of that profile, a monochromatic grille hangs a color-keyed "442" emblem between bright headlights, clear parking lamps and a thick chrome bumper. At the top of that grille, a custom fresh air hood leads the eye to tinted glass that's framed in straight stainless and reflected in a polished driver's mirror. At the sides of that hood, factory door handles float between dent-free wheel rings while Rocket marker lamps perfectly complement "442" fender scripts. And at the back of the car, an "OLDSMOBILE" branded decklid hangs a fourth "442" badge and thin rocket logo above silver-trimmed taillights, small reverse lamps, a second thick bumper and trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE Hoist this Olds' scooped hood and you'll find an original, 400 cubic inch Rocket V8 that's branded with a correct 396026G casting number and matching partial VIN. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, that hot V8 is a super-efficient wedge head design that, in factory form, utilizes a proven 455 cranktrain to turn stout 10.5 to 1 compression into 350 horsepower and 440 lb./ft. of stump-pulling torque. Stomp the throttle and a big Rochester Quadrajet mixes juice from new stainless fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a Fire Red, 1970-style air cleaner. At the sides of that carb, correct "C" branded heads ride above factory cast exhaust manifolds. At the back of those heads, a correct points distributor sequences spark through pliable plug wires. Aesthetically, the car's Satin Black fenders and masculine Bronze block look fantastic against their glossy Ebony shell. And the entire engine bay, from its pliable GM hoses and fresh master cylinder to its rebuilt alternator and old school Frigidaire AC compressor, features a clean, mostly correct appearance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 400 fronts a correct Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed, which displays a requisite 1968 (68) Oldsmobile (OG) assembly stamp. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt, which hides moderate, 3.08 gears behind a finned W27 inspection cover. That smooth driveline hangs in a familiar heavy-duty suspension, which has been upgraded with modern, tubular control arms. Power-assisted stops are provided by four red calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And silver Ridler Hot Rods spin 235/50ZR17 Falken Azenis in front of 235/50R18 Falken Azenis. INTERIOR Inside this impressive coupe, you'll find a clean Black interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh black carpet that's protected by "OLDSMOBILE" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests in bright chrome handles and straight stainless trim. A warp-free dash hangs factory air conditioning between an old school AM/FM radio and lightly customized telemetry. At the base of that dash, a slim console frames a stylish shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a bright rocket emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth Ridler wheel and fifth Falken tire between a small light, a correct jack and a fresh mat. With sinister aesthetics and a fresh restoration, this fully sorted 442 is a fun classic to cruise in virtually any setting. Factor in the car's numbers-matching engine, and you've got one seriously appealing A-Body. It seems that Oldsmobile enthusiasts, much like their favorite cars, are always one small step ahead of their contemporaries. If you're thinking about adding a rocket to your orbit, don't hesitate; the countdown has begun! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. Big block Chevelles and aggressively styled GTOs seem to be naturals when it comes to muscle car wish lists. But, in reality, GM's 'more proper' divisions created some of the nastiest stoplight warriors ever unleashed on American streets. Oldsmobile, the General's humble technology division, definitely did its fair share to glorify the rise of Detroit. And this 5-time Olds Nationals champion is a prime example of their much lauded 'bar brawler in a tuxedo' sales mentality. Featuring a numbers-matching drivetrain, an intense Spanish Red on Black color combination and an impressive rotisserie restoration, this Olds is one of the coolest A-Bodies on the planet! And if you're looking for a solid, road-ready classic that'll turn heads and bring home trophies, it's your round-trip rocket ride to the moon! BODYWORK/TRIM Given its mid June build date, workers at GM's Lansing, Michigan production facility undoubtedly drifted to thoughts of summertime fun as this rich coupe rolled down their assembly line. With a striking combination of modernist appeal and open road prowess, it's virtually impossible to picture this classy Olds in anything other than a happy, sunny landscape. Not long ago the car benefitted from a detailed, rotisserie restoration, during which its original sheetmetal was stripped, patched and aligned to better-than-factory condition. A correct layer of Spanish Red base was sealed in modern clear and buffed to an admirable shine. And today, this sweet 442 is a razor-sharp muscle car that intimidates like a cruise missile and shines like the family's best silver. ENGINE Hoist the car's mirrored hood and you'll find a correct and equally rare 400 cubic inch Rocket V8, which is branded with a 442-specific 390925F casting number and "V224517G" assembly stamp. Since pre-68 Rocket blocks are devoid of VIN stamps, we can use that assembly code, which translates as 400 cubic inch (V) high compression (G) engine number 224517, to validate this coupe's status as a real-deal, numbers-matching 442. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, the hot V8 is a super-efficient wedge head design that utilizes a standard stroke and undersquare bore to create stout 10.5 to 1 compression, 350 horsepower and 440 lb./ft. of stump-pulling torque. Stomp the throttle and a big Rochester Quadrajet mixes juice from new stainless fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a chrome, correctly decaled air cleaner. At the sides of that carb, correct "C" branded heads hang above correct, cast iron exhaust manifolds, which make quick work of spent gases. And at the back of those heads, a correct red cap distributor sequences spark between high quality Packard TV R Suppression Cables and a rare UHV ignition system. Aesthetically, this Oldsmobile's Satin Black fenders and correct Bronze block look fantastic against their vivid red shell. And the entire engine bay, from its pliable hoses and Delco master cylinder to its correct alternator and tagged Delco battery, features a clean, factory-spec appearance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 400 fronts a rugged 4-speed that's branded with a correct 3885010 casting number and Muncie (P) assembled on February (B) 7th (07) 1967 (7) build stamp. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 10-bolt that's equipped with moderate, 3.42 gears. That driveline hangs in a tagged heavy-duty suspension, which includes better shocks, thicker coil springs, reinforced control arms and a mandatory rear sway bar. Power-assisted discs and drums provide braking, while turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through buff DynoMax mufflers and chrome-trimmed exhaust tips. And Styled Steel wheels spin F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR Inside this impressive Olds, you'll find a correct Black interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh black carpet that's protected by "OLDSMOBILE" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center modernist armrests in bright chrome handles and straight stainless trim. A warp-free dash hangs an old school pushbutton radio beside restored factory telemetry. At the base of that dash, an optional console frames a stylish Hurst 442 shifter. In front of the driver, a chrome-trimmed steering wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth Styled Steel wheel and fifth redline tire between clean decals, a correct jack and a fresh mat. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. Not only did we sell our rare 1972 442 W30, we also introduced a numbers-matching 1967 Cutlass 442. And, if you're in the market for a classic Olds but neither of those options moved you, we're now debuting this foreboding Cutlass pro-tourer. In addition to trick aesthetics and a heavily modified suspension, this killer coupe mixes a rugged Tremec TKO600 5-speed with 455 cubic inches of Oldsmobile big block that makes roughly 500 horsepower. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind muscle car that's live, loaded and ready to launch, strap yourself in to THIS rocket! BODYWORK/TRIM During a 2014 rotisserie restoration, this solid Cutlass was entirely disassembled and completely stripped of its dull, original paint. After a bit of hard work, the car's clean body presented itself as an excellent foundation for a slick combination of BMW silver and Satin Black 2-stage. And today, one close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest looking GM muscle cars on the planet! Unlike most pro-touring builds, this Olds wasn't entirely stripped of its stainless and ornamentation. Instead, the baubles and bolt-ons were muted with careful powder coating that highlights the car's awesome 'coke bottle' profile and intimidating street presence. At the front of that profile, a silver grille hangs a vivid "442" emblem between bright halogen headlights and a Satin Black bumper that's complete with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a standard hood leads the eye to new glass that's framed in straight stainless and reflected in vinyl-wrapped sport mirrors. At the sides of that hood, aftermarket door handles and color-keyed lock cylinders perfectly complement clean marker lamps and dent-free wheel rings. And at the back of the car, a vinyl-wrapped decklid rides above silver-trimmed taillights, a second Satin Black bumper, and stainless, center-outlet exhaust tips. ENGINE It's not immediately apparent why this coupe's body carries so much sizzle; that is, until you see what's under its hood. Pop the latch, fling the steel and you'll find 455 cubic inches of Rocket V8 that produces somewhere around 500 horsepower! Excellent throttle response and modern drivability are provided by a big Holley 4-barrel, which is piped to braided fuel lines and fitted with a black-cased reusable filter element. Beneath that carb, an Edelbrock Torker 455 feeds factory heads and giant cylinders that benefit from a .060 overbore. At the sides of those cylinders, ceramic-coated, long-tube headers push thrust through large-diameter, true-dual exhaust pipes. That thrust gets its ignition sequence from an aftermarket HEI distributor and JEGS 8.0 Pow'r Wires. In front of those wires, a blackened March serpentine system spins modern power steering and a chrome Powermaster alternator opposite modern air conditioning. And in front of that drive, a beefy aluminum radiator, which is equipped with a polished overflow tank and two electric puller fans, keeps atmospheric heat at bay. Aesthetically, the car's body-matched engine bay appears to be holding up very well. And items like an Optima gel cell battery, a familiar Wilwood master cylinder and custom-finished valve covers add a heavy dose of form and function. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION While you might think that monstrous engine is this classic's biggest selling point, some of its best hardware is hidden out of view. For starters, there's a tough Tremec TKO600 5-speed that keeps power up at the stoplight and revs down on the highway. That gearbox leads a rugged 10-bolt rear end, which hides tall 3.73 gears under a snazzy aluminum inspection cover. That axle transfers power to a Speedtech 4-link, which is complete with a Detroit Speed sway bar and QA1 coil-over-shocks. That 4-link pushes a Speedtech front suspension, which makes good use of traditional power steering and two more QA1 coil-over-shocks. That chassis' stops are provided by a Baer 4-wheel disc brake system, which employs four drilled and slotted rotors. The car's spent gases are ushered away by 3-inch pipes and great sounding Flowmaster mufflers. The straight, Satin Black floors are dotted with well-planned ancillaries, including Detroit Speed subframe connectors, a Powermaster XS Torque starter, a fabricated oil pan and a clean stainless fuel tank. And all this top-notch hardware rides on a slick set of Boze 3-piece wheels, which spin 255/40ZR19 Nitto Invos in front of 315/35ZR20 Nitto Invos. INTERIOR Like its exterior, this Oldsmobile's cockpit is a masterful blend of old and new that features the comfort and convenience of modern technology wrapped in classic Detroit design. The familiar front bucket and rear bench seats appear to be factory-correct and, along with traditional '72 Cutlass door panels, literally glow under our intense showroom lighting. Between those seats, a custom console founds a billet shifter in front of handy cupholders. Below that console, fresh red carpet stays fresh and red thanks to heavy duty floor mats. At the head of that carpet, a conservative dash features a familiar Alpine CD player, Vintage Air climate control and a full array of color-keyed Classic Instruments gauges. In front of the driver, an attractive Budnik steering wheel spins around a modern, tilting column. And behind the passengers, quality Focal speakers, which play perfectly off large kick speakers, hang over a custom-upholstered trunk. With a hot big block and curve-carving dynamics, this sinister Cutlass is a fun classic to cruise in virtually any setting. Factor in the car's great color combination and head-turning detailing, and you've got one seriously appealing A-Body. It seems that Oldsmobile enthusiasts, much like their favorite cars, are always one small step ahead of their contemporaries. But not many of those vintage machines can claim to be both rare and highly desirable from the day they left the showroom. Combining coupe-like form with truck-like function, and sold as a low-production 'halo model', this slick Oldsmobile Fiesta is a true all-time all-star. So, how do you make a car that's already as hot as this street rod Olds even more desirable? You completely refinish its body, bolt up some fresh suspension components, throw in a buff big block and line it with a nice combination of classic style and modern convenience. If you like your old school cruiser to be show ready AND fun to drive, but a sedan is just too common and too cramped, this plus-size rocket is your next classic! Despite the exceptional sales of Oldsmobile's premium 88, the brand's higher priced Fiesta proved less popular and, thanks to attrition, has now become even scarcer. Fortunately, this clean resto-mod has always been a solid, complete beast that benefitted from decades of owners who were smart enough to know what they had. When the car's Ionia-produced body fell in to the hands of loving enthusiasts, big money was spent on a thorough, frame-off restoration. And today, this Olds hangs straight, mostly-original sheetmetal under a rich combination of bronze and silver two-stage that's been buffed to a fantastic shine. One thing about classic car guys is their uncanny ability to methodically plot, plan and execute even the minutest details. Whoever restored this highbrow hardtop probably spent months scheduling, budgeting and searching for the exact elements that would bring their vision to life. At the front of the car, a broad yet sinuous bumper hangs prominent "O L D S M O B I L E" lettering between a fine stainless grille, clear parking lamps and chrome-trimmed halogen headlights. At the top of that grille, fresh Oldsmobile hood ornaments ride inside classic rocket fender toppers. At the back of that hood, tinted greenhouse glass is highlighted by well-maintained frames, simple chrome mirrors and opposing stainless wipers. At the base of those mirrors, straight trim spears found modern Cadillac Escalade heat extractors below cursive "Fiesta" fender emblems. Behind those spears, polished and pinstriped profile guards complement traditional front doors, shaved rear doors and monochromatic fender skirts. And at the back of the car, a bronze-detailed bumper reflects expressive tri-bar brake lights and a stainless-trimmed tail gate. This sweet looking cruiser is set in motion by a show-detailed 455 that, thanks to ample torque, provides solid, reliable road trips. Stomp the throttle and a coated Edelbrock carburetor mixes juice from clean, stainless fuel lines with wind from a stylish, two-tone air cleaner, and shoves it into an Edelbrock Torker intake. Behind that intake, a proven MSD distributor feeds fire through beefy MSD Super Conductor plug wires, which are loomed between mirrored valve covers and fully restored exhaust manifolds. In front of those manifolds, traditional V-belts spin a chrome alternator opposite a coated Tuff Stuff AC compressor. And, in front of that compressor, a beefy radiator cycles water past a large electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the car's large, gold block looks fantastic against its metallic bronze paint. The stout mill is miles of fun, wringing massive grunt from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its modern power steering to its billet brake reservoir. Throw the car on a lift and you'll find solid floors that, along with a professionally restored chassis, sport a fresh, road-ready appearance. Behind the big block, a 700R4 4-speed spins torque through a fully rebuilt rear end and pleasant 3.42 gears. Holding that well-mannered powertrain in place is a fully-sorted suspension which includes a front sway bar, traditional control arms and correct leaf springs. Easy turns are provided by modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Short, confident stops come courtesy of 4-wheel power disc brakes. At the center of the car, a 2.5 inch, true-dual exhaust system sends spent gases through deep sounding turbo mufflers. And putting the power to the pavement is a nice set of 15-inch wire wheels that spin classy 235/75 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around ornate stainless center caps. Climb inside this razor-sharp Olds and you'll find a thoroughly modified interior that features dramatic style and enough great looking trim to payroll a small upholstery shop. Covered in subdued leather, the car's cushy bench seats feature sturdy lap belts and power front adjustment. Beneath those seats, plush carpet frames mirrored sills and silver-trimmed foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, factory courtesy lamps highlight a tight leather headliner. At the sides of the car, two-tone door panels look great hovering between small chrome handles, convenient power windows and streamlined stainless trim. In front of those panels, a body-matched dash hangs an XM-capable Alpine CD player between a small clock, an old school Autronic Eye and billet accessory knobs. Pop open the long glove box and reveal three auxiliary gauges that monitor oil pressure, water temps, and voltage next to controls for the Vintage Air air conditioning. In front of the driver, a polished tilt steering column spins an aluminum, thick-rim wheel. And behind the passengers, a carpeted cargo area is primed for lawn chairs and picnic supplies. It's no wonder the Oldsmobile 88 enjoys such huge popularity, because it just doesn't get much better than this slick Fiesta resto-mod. With a plush interior, head turning body and reliable streetability, this wagon is the perfect combination of form and function. In fact, this Olds is the best of all worlds! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W30 Frame Up Restored 442 W30 455 M22 Rock Crusher 4 Speed Year: 1971 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Gold Mileage: 78403 Transmission type: 4 Speed Manual Engine: 455 V8 Interior color: Saddle Vehicle info So, you're looking for some largely original GM muscle that you can enjoy and build a little equity in. Your first thought is to click through our inventory of second generation Chevelles but, restoration-fresh Super Sports easily breach six figures. Then, your mind migrates to team Chevelle's flamboyant cousin: the Pontiac GTO. Problem is, the second generation GTO, with all its stripes and bolt-ons, is just a tad over-the-top. Frustrated, you think: "there's always Buick, but good luck finding a good one"; and then you remember the humble outfit known as Oldsmobile. GM's technology division definitely created some of the nastiest stoplight warriors ever unleashed on American roads. And this mildly restored 442 W-30 is a prime example of their 'bar brawler in a tuxedo' philosophy. Featuring a correct 455 cubic inch Rocket V8, an original Rock Crusher transmission and a stripped down look that swaps 70s glam for middle-of-the-road sophistication, it's a car that's nice enough to covet, but not so pristine you'll be afraid to hit the road. If you're in the market for a great alternative to GM's traditional stars, there are few cooler cars than this Saturn Gold Oldsmobile! Assembled in Lansing, Michigan during the second week of February, 1971, this spectacular Oldsmobile is one of only 810 442 W-30 hardtops produced for the 1971 model year. Impeccably maintained throughout its entire life, the car has never undergone a complete, frame-off restoration, and has managed to maintain a great presentation with the help of as-needed refurbishing. Today, 42 years after rolling out of the showroom, it's one head turning GM muscle car that intimidates like a cruise missile and shines like the family's best gold. And yes, that IS a correct combination of GM code 53 Saturn Gold and GM code 19 Ebony Black paint you're currently admiring. Like all second generation A-bodies, the 442 continued to get better year after year. It's clean and modernist lines were no doubt a play on its parent division's engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy; and the resulting design continues to weather exceptionally well. At the front of the car, a black, stainless-trimmed grille hangs a black "442" emblem between four halogen headlamps and a bright chrome bumper that's complete with clear parking lights. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye past stainless twist locks to like-new glass that's framed by bright chrome drip rails and well-maintained trim. At the sides of that hood, traditional chrome door handles perfectly complement dent-free wheel rings, body-matched sport mirrors and a combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a smooth decklid hangs a large "442" emblem above a broad chrome bumper, pristine tail lights and trumpeted exhaust tips. Twist this awesome 442's hood locks and you'll find a correct 455 cubic inch Rocket V8 that's branded with a familiar 396021F casting number. Unfortunately, this block's partial VIN was completely milled off during a rebuild, so we can't authenticate its status as a numbers matching piece. But we can definitely tell you the big engine, which creates 350 horsepower in factory guise, is mechanically sound and ready to hit the road. Stomp the throttle and a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct low-restriction air cleaner, and shoves it into a correct aluminum intake. Behind that intake, a traditional points distributor feeds fire through fresh AC Delco Packard TV R Suppression wires that are loomed around correct "H" branded heads and clean blue valve covers. And below those valve covers, correct cast iron exhaust manifolds shoot charred dinosaurs into big, true dual pipes. Aesthetically, the car's red inner fenders and metallic blue block look fantastic against its Saturn Gold paint. The stout mill is all day reliable spinning massive torque from one of the largest and most powerful V8s ever created. And the entire engine bay flat out rocks, from its fully finished hood and correct fan shroud and to its aged decals and tagged Delco Energizer battery. The bottom of this rare 442 is largely original and shows no signs of terminal wear or question inducing battle scars. Behind the wicked 455, the car's original Muncie M22 4-speed, which wears a correct 3925661 casting number, a matching partial VIN and a Muncie (P) M22 assembled on December (T) 17th (17) of 1970 (1) build stamp, sends power to stout 10 bolt rear end that's equipped with easy living gears. At the center of the car, exhaust flows through solid, true dual pipes to great sounding mufflers and trumpeted stainless tips. And at the corners of the car, chrome Magnum 500s spin fresh F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around rocket branded center caps. Standard fare for the 442 trim was a factory heavy duty suspension which is augmented with beefy front control arms, better front shocks, thicker coil springs, boxed rear control arms, a standard rear sway bar and, in this car's case, rear air shocks. Braking is provided by stalwart and reliable drums at all four corners. Turns come courtesy of an M22-mandated manual steering system. And everything from this Oldsmobile's original, rust free floorpans to its straight frame and correct driveline and suspension is fully sorted and ready to hit the road. Inside this old school Olds, you'll find a high quality Sienna interior that appears to be mostly untouched original equipment. At the center of the car, rebuilt bucket and bench seats ride on clean brown carpet that's protected by color-keyed mats. In front of those seats, a warp-free dash hangs familiar 442 wood around correct Rally gauges and an original AM/FM stereo. At the base of that dash, a full console frames a vintage Hurst shifter that barks tires as easy as it rows through gears. At the sides of that console, great looking Sienna door panels are decorated with good looking stainless trim, crack-free armrests and more stylish wood trim. Above those panels, a fully functional dome light illuminates a tight brown headliner. In front of the driver, a custom sport steering wheel is centered on a striking rocket horn button. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hangs aged decklid decals over a correct jack, a correct mat and a full-size spare tire. Tired of the same old Chevelles and GTOs you can find anywhere, anytime? Then take a close look at this phenomenal 442! Fully sorted and highly correct, it's a super cool muscle car that's poised to gain value by the year. And whether you're an emphatic Oldsmobile collector, or a serious muscle car fan who wants something a little different, this exclusive A-Body is the perfect choice! Well, this time around, we'll spare you the nostalgia trip and get straight to the facts. Simply put: these cars are awesome to drive, look at and be seen in. Their value and desirability continues to rise every year. And if you've ever dreamed of owning one, today is a much better time to buy than tomorrow will be. This particular example is a well optioned '79 model that pairs a 6.6 litre V8 and 3-speed automatic gearbox with factory air conditioning and all the outrageous Pontiac swagger you could ever ask for. Freshly restored in 2014, the car is showroom fresh, offering an authentic driving experience through a roster of correct components. And, if you're ready to cruise the boulevard in one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever assembled, it's your opportunity to seize the day! BODYWORK/TRIM After leaving GM's Van Nuys assembly line in the summer of 1979, this Poncho was trailered to Dale Sharp Pontiac in Topeka, Kansas. Thanks to a lifetime of calculated use and meticulous care, the car became an excellent starting point for a professional, ground-up restoration. Correct Solar Gold 2-stage was applied under tough "TRANS AM" call-outs and brilliant Screamin' Chicken decals. And details like black headlight buckets, correct black reveal moldings, correct black tail lamps and familiar wheel spoilers round out classic, pavement-pounding aesthetics. ENGINE Naturally, 6.6 litres of GM power back up the car's angry demeanor. Correctly restored and ready to roll, this coupe, like the vast majority of factory-accurate 1979 Trans Ams, is equipped with a 403 cubic inch V8. And, it's pretty easy to identify that Oldsmobile-sourced block since "403" is cast right in to the passenger's side of its iron casing. A big 4-barrel carburetor feeds 4A heads that are equipped with 83cc combustion chambers. Delco Air conditioning is always a welcome addition. Decals and brandings are as fresh as when the car rolled off the assembly line. Everything is neatly wrapped in a striking combination of Satin Black and GM Corporate Blue paint. And, while horsepower numbers aren't exactly off the charts, 320 lb./ft. of torque is more than enough oomph to make this 'bird fly! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under the floors, a clean chassis visually confirms the car's just finished restoration while hosting a mile-long list of correct components. The 403 V8 entertained only one option for shifting: GM's trusty Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed. That gearbox sends power to a correct GM 10-bolt, which is equipped with a posi-traction differential and highway-friendly gears. Around that rock-solid powertrain, a full F41 suspension, which includes mandatory power steering and thick sway bars, combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide quick stops and great handling. A single-into-dual exhaust system has been upgraded with a Magnaflow converter, Walker Quiet-Flow 3 mufflers and polished side-splitter tips. And, at the corners of the car, requisite 'snowflake' wheels spin 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around correct gold paint and familiar 'gold bird' center caps. INTERIOR Behind this Pontiac's massive doors, you'll find a correct Camel Tan interior that's centered in miles of cool trim. Rebuilt seats are comfortably firm, framing a simple, Camel Tan console and chrome GM shifter. In front of those seats, an engine turned instrument panel hangs crystal clear gauges above factory climate control and a reconditioned Delco-GM stereo. Tan carpet, protected by thick floor mats, looks just as good as the car's plush door panels and tight headliner. In front of the driver, a standard Formula steering wheel spins around a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fresh trunk anchors a Space Saver spare tire under a fresh decklid decal. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONAn original build sheetA packet of Pontiac Historic Services paperwork With its awesome drivetrain, ornate interior and vivid Solar Gold paint, this Trans Am simply can't be beat in the realm of late '70s muscle cars. Factor in a fresh restoration, full documentation and the well-known swagger that only team Firebird can deliver, and you get a truly special cruiser for not a lot of money. If you're ready to put a premium pony car in your collection, don't miss the chance to claim this groovy Poncho! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. Their value and desirability rises every year and if you've ever dreamed of owning one, today is a much better time to buy than tomorrow will be. This particular example is a well-optioned '79 model featuring a 403ci V8, automatic gearbox, factory air conditioning and all the black and gold T/A swagger you could ever ask for. A 16,223 actual mile survivor, this numbers-matching SE is showroom fresh and offers an authentic driving experience to back up those good looks. If you're ready to cruise the boulevard in one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever assembled, take a closer look at this Pontiac. According to PHS documentation, the car shipped with these factory-installed options: C60: Air conditioningK30: Cruise controlC49: Electric rear window defrosterA01: Soft Ray glassTR9: Lamp groupU68: Delco AM/FM stereo radioY84: Special Edition Trans AmWS6: Special Performance packageB18: Custom trim group velour After leaving GM's Norwood assembly line in spring of 1979, the car was trailered roughly 45 minutes north to Ray Fargo Pontiac in North Ridgeville, Ohio. With over $2k in factory options and a total price of $9,191.55, this was showroom material at its finest. Thanks to a lifetime of limited use and meticulous care, the car remains that way in every sense. Appeal starts on the outside where a sleek coat of Starlight Black covers the familiar F-body curves. The paint is claimed to be approximately 60% original and, looking over the car, that seems like a fair estimate. Nothing shows as unnaturally glossy just clean and original. That paintwork is accented by what must be a half-mile worth of gold striping that winds around nearly every predominant body line while a pair of pristine Fisher T-tops fill out the roofline. Of course, Trans Ams, especially the Special Editions, were about details and this one has plenty to admire. Up front, a straight and glossy urethane front bumper houses the familiar quad headlight setup anchored by a centered Pontiac arrow. Down low, the grille openings are accented by gold pinstripe. The hood features a shaker scoop surrounded by a classic "screamin' chicken" decal while "6.6 Litre" decals clue everyone in on just what lives beneath the hood. At either side, functional fender vents pull air through the engine compartment while rear fender flares further the aggressive styling. The gold striping continues along the bottom of the car as well as around the painted sport mirrors while Firebird decals adorn the C-pillars. The back end continues that aggressive look with a Trans Am-branded decklid spoiler that rides over black out taillights that were redesigned to expand across the entire length of back end for 1979. Under the hood, 6.6 Litres of GM power back up the car's angry demeanor. While roughly 1,100 1979 Trans Ams left the factory with a Poncho 400, the vast majority came equipped with the L80 403ci V8 as found in this example. The foundation is an Oldsmobile-sourced block with a 557265-4B casting number and a matching 29N127441 VIN derivative to prove its authenticity. Under the hood scoop, the single-snorkel air cleaner assembly mounts over a single Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor while 4A heads with big 83cc combustion chambers frame a stock intake manifold. While horsepower numbers aren't exactly off the charts, the 315lb-ft of torque does a great job of covering that fact. Up front, the accessory drive turns all the usual suspects including a power steering pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor as a Harrison radiator pairs with a single engine-driven fan to keep the big V8 cool. The car fires to life with ease and sends spent gases out through an elaborate exhaust system that utilizes a crossover tube to connect the driver side manifold to the passenger side. From there, a single pipe leads to the catalytic converter followed by a Y-pipe with twin resonators and splitter tips. Underneath the car, a road-ready chassis visually confirms the car's limited mileage while hosting a mile-long list of original parts. As a 403 bird, there was only one option for shifting the trusty TH350 3-speed automatic. This one wears a matching 29N127441 partial VIN to let you know it's original to the car. From the transmission, power is sent down the driveshaft to the original 10-bolt rear end equipped with posi-traction and highway-friendly 2.73 gears. Around that rock solid powertrain, a full WS6 suspension, which includes power steering, thick front and rear sway bars, better shocks and stiffer springs, combines with power disc brakes all around to provide quick stops and great handling. At the corners of the car, original SE-exclusive gold Pontiac snowflake wheels are accented by 'gold bird' center caps and a set of 225/75R15 Uniroyal radials, just like the factory installed. Behind the Trans Am's massive black doors, you'll find a well-preserved optional velour interior. The car's seats are firm, crisp and look every bit as rich as their velour name implies. Below those seats, like-new black carpet, which is carefully protected by factory replacement floor mats, displays no fading or unraveling. Between the seats, a silver trimmed console makes rook for the shifter and little else. At the top of the car, a stain-free headliner is stretched tight around the car's signature T-tops. At the sides, pitch black door panels hang pristine pull straps and new chrome door handles below Special Edition exclusive gold badging. In front of the driver, an excellent looking engine turned gold dash houses crystal clear Rally gauges, controls for heat and air conditioning, and the car's original Delco-GM AM/FM stereo behind a gold Formula steering wheel. Behind the cockpit, the trunk space remains showroom fresh, labeled with correct decals, storage bags for the cars T-tops, and a Space Saver spare tire. Documentation for this SE includes historical documents from PHS as well as original items such as the owner's manual, warranty pamphlet, maintenance schedule, and Uniroyal tire information. With a numbers matching drivetrain, an all original interior, and largely original paintwork, finding a more authentic T/A would be difficult especially a Y84 car. Factor in the great options list, the car's 16,223-mile survivor status, and the late-70s swagger that only a Trans Am can offer and you have a truly special cruiser up for grabs. If you're ready to put a premium Poncho in your collection, don't miss the chance to make this 1979 Trans Am SE yours today! 1987 Cadillac Brougham d’Elegance Sedan 35,200 Original Miles 1G6DW51Y0H9740904 Travis Dowell, Jr. Charlotte, North Carolina (704) 804 0806, mobile Bordeaux Red Exterior Dark Claret Red Leather Interior d’Elegance Option Package AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio Power Windows, Locks, Seats Electronic Climate Control System Automatic Day / Night Rear View Mirror Smooth Shifting Automatic Transmission 307 cubic inch 8 cylinder engine (5.0 Liter) with 4 BBL Carb. New Vogue Whitewall Steel Belted Radial Tires Fully Serviced and Ready to go! Overview of the Car Well this is one that I bet you didn’t think you would find here on eBay! If you feel this way, then you are like I was when seeing this car for the first time. It is breathtaking! Very nicely preserved and nearly all original example of Cadillac’s finest in 1987! This example was primarily owned and garaged in Southington / Warren, Ohio area by James Dittrich from new, until Mr. Dittrich passed away. It was bought new from The Clyde Cole Motor Company with 50 miles on the odometer. The date of delivery was April 21, 1987. Therefore, in 27 years, the car has traveled on average only 1,300 miles/year! At Mr. Dittrich’s passing, the car was willed to his closest professional colleague living in Warren, Ohio, from whom I bought the car just over 2 years ago. With this in mind, there are 3 owners in the car’s history, including me. The 2nd owner found the car too large to drive for her, so put the car up for sale here on eBay, where I found it and bought it in 2012, where it’s been part of a collection since then. Based upon a critical view of the car, it’s evident the miles are truly 35,200 because the interior is nearly new and all mint. There is only the slightest of wear on the driver’s carpeted floor mat. The steering wheel leather is perfect, the dash and all trim and gauges are as new, and the seating and headliner are flawless! Mechanically, it seems to have been well maintained throughout its life. It was also garaged, and it shows. Even all of the front / rear left and right side bumper fillers are mint and original with no cracks. The downfall of the car is that it’s from Ohio and we suspect it was driven originally a few times in the winter. There is minor surface rust under the car and some evidence of this on the sides of the car. It’s not anything rusting through, but I want to mention it in openness and honesty. Ahead of my purchasing the car, I didn’t have it inspected fully and wasn’t aware of the rust until it arrived on the carrier and was in front of my home! Therefore, I will do my best to be very explicit about the cars condition and what I perceive as minor cosmetic flaws. With this in mind, I decided to set forth and get the car mechanically updated ahead of worrying about any of the cosmetics. All major services have been performed by Cadillac, and a Cadillac Master Trained Technician who worked on these when new and knows them like the back of his hand. We’ve spent around $6,500.00 in repairs / refurbishment, and have the receipts to document this. We wanted the car to be reliable and not give us any trouble. Items Serviced On the Car Full Tune Up, including filters, vacuum lines, coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor Tightened up carb and reset to factory settings Replaced valve cover gaskets Replaced all of the Oil Pan Gaskets Replaced Front / Rear Main Engine Oil Seals Replaced Transmission Pan Gasket and all Seals, and replaced TCC Solenoid Serviced Rear Differential Replaced Belts and Hoses Replaced Brakes – pads, cylinders, rotors, and fluid front / rear Replaced Shocks – Front and Rear Replaced Radiator / Radiator Cap / Thermostat/ By Pass Hose / Heater hoses Replaced Water Pump Replaced Fuel Pump and Filters Replaced Timing Chain Replaced Steering Damper A/C System Fully Serviced including R-134 a recharge - System converted to R134-A by prior owner. All fluids flushed twice and replaced with new – including oil, radiator coolant, transmission fluid, power steering, and brake fluids New Battery New Windshield Wiper Blades Lubricated Chassis, Body Hinges, and Hood Stops Lubricated Speedometer Upper Cable Four Wheel Alignment Replaced tires with new Vogue Whitewall tires – They have less than 100 miles on them and are nitrogen filled too. Older tires were kept and are Uniroyal Tiger Paw (Super rare!). They are available to go with the car if you are interested! Next, based upon the extensive service, I am happy to report the car drives AWESOME. It starts quickly every time, and best of all, it doesn’t leak, rattle, stumble, stutter, or otherwise, make any other weird noises! This is very uncommon for a 27 year old car but I am a neat freak and didn’t want any worries! I am a member of the Local and National Cadillac Club and envisioned someday taking the car on a multi-state tour! Performance of the Car We’ve already described the running and driving of the car, which is to specifications and very solid, quiet, with no noises, rattles, hesitations, or other issues. The 8 Cylinder Engine pulls the car around very well and is relatively efficient and a miser with fuel. We run 89 octane that is Ethanol free in the car with additives to the fuel for optimal performance. With regards to the electrical accessories, nearly all of these perform flawlessly and work as new, except for the power antenna and the level ride suspension. The antenna can be lowered or raised manually, as the motor runs but the antenna mast is slightly bent so it won’t therefore work as designed. Next, the level ride suspension can be raised manually, as the automatic pump doesn’t any longer have the gusto to keep the rear suspension level as intended. We air it up as needed manually as there is a connection in the rear bumper, and are quite satisfied with this. I had planned to get the pump rebuilt and reset it all to original, but haven’t gotten to that yet. It could be restored to original operation specs with very little effort. Pump is the weak link. It works, but doesn’t pump enough PSI to keep the suspension raised to the appropriate level. The stereo radio and cassette works great and all speakers are alive with sound. All of the lighting works, even the opera lamps! Power windows, locks, steering, brakes, mirrors, seats, and all other aspects are perfect and work as new! During my time with the car, I have primarily only used it at local Cadillac car shows. It was most recently part of a local Cadillac club meeting in Burlington, North Carolina, and received rave reviews there from a very discriminating audience! We drove it round trip approximately 350 miles with absolutely no issues! Major Service by the Original Owner The original owner kept the car fully serviced always and had also replaced the exhaust system front to back including a new muffler and tail pipe, along with converting the Air Conditioning to R-134A, the new refrigerant. History of the Brougham This model was made by Cadillac between 1980-1992, so the basic architecture is solid and well proven. It was equipped with the 5.0 L engine mated with a 4 BBL Carb made by Oldsmobile due to the strict requirements of the CAFE (US REGULATION) for fuel economy back in the 1980’s that required better gas mileage on these land yachts. Given Cadillac had eliminated its 368 engine used in 1980-1981, along with the 4.1 Liter used in 1982-1985, each of these from 1986 forward had either the 5.0 L engine, as this car has, as standard, or as an optional engine. Needless to say, it was made many years and is well proven out and trouble free, if maintained properly. · Overall Length: 221.7” · Shipping Weight: 4,299 lbs. In this model, there is seating for 6 people. It is really a floating living room. It garners attention from every direction when it is on the road. When not in use, it is garaged and covered. As with any 27 year old car, you have at least a few things on the list worth mentioning that could use attention at some point: All of the paint is original, but paint on the trunk and on the hood is a bit dull compared to the sides of the car. This is common for GM cars of this vintage. We’ve polished it up and made it shine very well despite this. There are signs of minimal surface rust on the underbody and some areas on the sides and under the trunk lid that will need attention. Nothing is rusted through by any means, and at this juncture, is more cosmetic than anything. We’ve supplied a lot of photos and welcome also personal inspections so take a look! It’s nothing that can’t easily be fixed, and the car has a lot of life in her despite her cosmetic “blemishes”. Check out the link to my photos on photo bucket to see the detail, or come see the car for yourself! Power antenna doesn’t work but can be lowered and raised manually. The “Level Ride” feature that automatically adjusts the rear suspension to the proper height based upon load doesn’t work, but the system was converted to manual mode. This means the shocks can be filled and /or lowered manually to suit you. The “Level Ride” light on the dash will illuminate if the height isn’t within specification so you know to fill or not to fill it. I generally go a few weeks without filling it, and it is something that can also be fixed but would require the original pump to be rebuilt. The pump works but doesn’t pump enough to properly raise the suspension, and can easily be rebuilt. The center plastic filler under the rear license plate is cracked but a replacement one is included with the sale. See photo to know what we are speaking of. Apart from these, there isn’t anything stopping anyone from simply enjoying the car, “as is”, as I have for the last two years. My focus was on the overall mechanics, versus the cosmetics, hence the reason I haven’t already taken care of them. Had I had a bit more time, they would have already been fixed!! There hasn’t been any body damage on the car, meaning no accidents or fender benders. It appears solid and very clean, polished, and presentable. The undercarriage is solid too, despite some surface rust. There are photos. Check ‘em out via the two separate links including Photo Bucket link and BOX at the end of this text. Next, as I had intended to cosmetically restore the car to perfection, I’ve also got many OEM new parts for the trim never used or installed, which are for sale separately. They are: New Grille and Chrome Header Bar - $200 New Rear Tail lamp Lenses and Bezels - $150 New “Cadillac” script and 5.0 L Badge - $50 New Trunk key lock cover, crest - $50 New Rear Reflectors - $50Technical Service Manual - $25 They are individually for sale at the prices shown or you can have all for $475. See photos of all of these for your reference via the BOX photo link. Next, I also have a brand new car cover only used a few times for $150, and/or another slightly used one that I will include with the sale of the car if you are at all interested for no extra cost. I am selling the car due to the fact I have another classic in mind very soon. Therefore, the sale of this car has absolutely nothing to do with the car itself, it is phenomenal in every way! By the way, we call the car “Betsy”. See additional photos of the car via a slide show format at: http://s1157.photobucket.com/user/tradow1/slideshow/1987%20Caddy%20Brougham%20d%20Elegance Next, we've also got over 100 more photos of all angles, including more detail of interior, exterior, cosmetic blemishes, and the trunk/engine compartments via Box.com. It's another site along with Photo Bucket that is hosting my photos "in the cloud": https://app.box.com/s/yngijgam7kr3xpww3xt2 Between the two resources for the photos, I've tried to depict and to relate the true condition of the car, so there aren't any surprises. I've bought and sold many of these over the years, as I'm a private collector, so I know what it's like to have a "surprise". Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need anything further. Thank you for your interest in my auction. Note my 100% positive feedback. Unfortunately, I’ve relisted this car given two bidders on my original auction that didn’t fulfill the bidding commitment, which includes buying the car afterwards. With this in mind, please do not bid on the car unless you are able to complete the transaction! Thank you for your understanding!

Whether it's the fault of James Dean, Sam Barris or just stellar design, 49-51 Mercurys seem gifted with universal appeal that few classics possess. This world class Mercury Kustom is the recipient of a complete, frame-off restoration that combines unbelievable paint with epic metalwork, a potent Ford flathead and a clean custom interior. With a history of national awards, the car easily navigates the line between awesome weekend warrior and show-stopping crowd pleaser. And if you're the kind of buyer who's searching for a stunning, all-steel masterpiece that features a roster of top notch equipment, no hot rod offers more style for less money! Initially completed in late 1996, 'Tradition' is the direct result of what happens when a seasoned gearhead has an uncompromised vision, major dedication and an army of very talented, very caring associates. The car's creator, famed tattoo artist and Beatnik Koolsville founder Brian Everett, wanted to debut a fresh sled that embodied the class and simplicity of a '50s hot rod build. In what seemed like divine coincidence, this solid coupe appeared in one of his neighbor's yards, and he quickly negotiated a sale price. It wasn't long before the car was headed to L'il John Harvey of L'il John's Kustom Studio in Las Lunas, New Mexico. And Everett announced plans to debut his creation at the 1997 Grand National Roadster Show. The project's work schedule was frantic, with everyone from Everett, his friends, his wife, L'il John Harvey's wife and even award-winning customizer Rick Dore putting hands on the build. But, thanks to a lot of passion and elbow grease, the Candy Red and Pearl White Kustom was locked, loaded and ready to go just in time for the 48th annual GNRS. Unfortunately, as is often the case, Mother Nature had the last laugh, unleashing a giant snow storm between Everett and the Pomona Fairplex. And, after the car claimed the Joe Bailon Candy Apple Award at the Sacramento Autorama, then placed First in Class at Blackie Gejeian's Fresno Autorama, it was officially mothballed in preparation for the 1998 Grand National Roadster Show. Fast Forward to January 1998 when, en route to the 49th annual GNRS, Everett found himself staring at a totaled Suburban, equally mangled trailer and substantially creased 'Tradition'. On the way to its big debut, something had gone awry with the Mercury's hauler, causing it to barrel roll down the highway and, once again, dash his hopes of headlining the Grand National. Now more determined than ever, Brian declared his intent to take the car to a third Grand National Roadster Show, and invited L'il John Harvey to his house for dinner and a discussion of the beloved Merc's rebirth. Both agreed that the recent mishap presented a unique opportunity to create something a bit different; and this diamond dusted, Candy Tangerine over Maroon and Silver Kustom became their ultimate resolution. Today, the car's striking House Of Kolor body still owns the show, wherever it goes. And overall, 'Tradition' stands as a timeless and exceptionally executed tribute to skilled customization and classic American hot rodding! The styling of Mercury's second generation Eight was successful in both ending the monotony of warmed-over pre-war designs and differentiating the brand from its comparable Ford cousin: a trick that spelled BIG sales success. Those newfound sales made the car immensely popular with customizers, and in 1949 the first lead sled, built by Sam Barris, pioneered what would become hot rodding's definitive '50s custom. At the front of this seamed coupe, a wraparound bumper hangs a '52 Kaiser guard below frenched Lucas headlights, a custom, hand-fabricated grille, and a nosed, rounded and louvered hood. Behind that hood, flush, chrome-trimmed glass rides inside capped wipers, traditional spotlights and a chopped and filled roof. At the sides of that roof, a shaved profile floats '55 Pontiac stainless between a frenched antenna and flush-fit fender skirts. And behind those skirts, a second wraparound bumper centers a second Kaiser guard between small exhaust pipes, frenched tail lights, and a decked and rounded trunk. As Ford's final Henry Ford-fueled innovation, the Ford V8 remains a durable, torque-rich powerplant that, thanks to solid engineering, has established an unmatched reputation in the classic and custom car community. And, in keeping with tradition, this awesome Merc is powered by a modified, 221 cubic inch flathead which, in factory guise, twists 6.20 to 1 compression into roughly 85 horsepower. At the top of the sturdy iron mill, a trio of air cleaners funnel wind through a trio of Ford carburetors to a polished Offenhauser 3-pot. At the sides of that intake, aluminum Offenhauser heads seat 48 studs around red, stainless-sleeved Standard Motor Products plug wires. Below those heads, a Candy Maroon block centers a traditional points distributor between cast Fenton headers. Charge comes courtesy of pliable V-belts, which exchange an old school generator for a fresh chrome alternator. And cooling is provided by a custom U.S. Radiator, which is fitted with a big electric pusher fan, corrugated top hoses and traditional, albeit polished tanks. As with any expertly built Kustom, the car's Pearl White engine bay is fully sorted and ready to go. And the clean block looks right at home between a flamed hood, a gold Mercury badge and bright chrome hardware. Take a look under this all-steel custom and you'll find a traditional Ford skeleton that, despite its road-ready mechanicals, displays very few signs of wear. While its body was off being refinished, this Mercury's old school bones were treated to an equally impressive, tri-tone makeover. At the front of those bones, a factory suspension makes excellent use of chopped coil springs and a Saginaw steering rack. At the back of those bones, a second factory suspension mixes KYB Gas-A-Just shocks with Unkl Al's Low Glide springs. At the center of that chassis, a stalwart Ford 3-speed spins a beefy Dana 60 around big, 4.27 gears. At the sides of that awesome driveline, the aforementioned headers roll spent gases through fresh stainless pipes and small, glasspack-style mufflers. At the corners of that exhaust system, traditional drum brakes provide solid, predictable stops. On the outside of those drums, custom smoothies spin 215/75R15 wide whitewall Cokers around a combination of chrome and painted surfaces. And naturally, pliable hoses, clean lines and a familiar stainless fuel tank complement the Pearl floor's form with fully sorted function. The pros at Scottsdale's Unique Upholstery fitted this Kustom's classic tuck 'n roll interior which, as 'Tradition' has already proven, is versatile enough to mesh with almost any upgrade. Pleated Pearl seats, which are both soft and supportive, ride on clean gray carpet that's protected by pleated, "Tradition" branded floor mats. In front of those seats, a Pearl dash anchors classic Stewart Warner gauges behind a small mirror, a standard traffic light viewer, two-tone bullet knobs and a vintage High Fidelity radio. At the sides of that dash, custom door panels hang correct hardware in front of body-matched emblems, Pearl frames and bright stainless accents that mimic the '55 Pontiac trim found on the outside of the car's body. Above those panels, a custom headliner flows to an intricately detailed package tray. In front of the driver, a '68 AMC steering column spins a '59 Oldsmobile wheel around a long B&M shifter and killer beatnik shift knob. And behind the passengers, a paneled and carpeted trunk hides a small fuel filler opposite a full-size spare. Naturally, this incredible build drew the attention of more than just diehard car show groupies. Here's a chronological list of the coupe's major accomplishments:Recipient of the Joe Bailon Candy Apple Award at the 1997 Sacramento AutoramaRecipient of First in Class at Blackie Gejeian's 1997 Fresno AutoramaFeatured in the January 1998 edition of Custom Rodder MagazineFeatured in the February 1998 edition of American Rodder MagazineFeatured in the March 1999 edition of American Rodder MagazineChosen as one of Rod & Custom Magazine's 100 Best Rods & Customs for 1999Featured in the January 2001 edition of Rod & Custom Magazine In addition to those magazine features, this Merc's sale includes a small stack of restoration photos. This razor-sharp sled is one of the coolest cruisers on the planet! And at only $79,900, it isn't just a fully restored classic that's attainable for a fraction of its build cost; it's a unique hot rod that sets itself apart from a virtual sea of chopped, diced, smothered and covered street rods.
