I believe it to be a Brougham, because of the pillowed seats. This car belongs to a very long time lady friends husband who has recently passed away. She has asked me to help sell his cars. She knows what she has, as to reasonable values. Low ball offers will be ignored. We ALL know what it's worth! Look at it as a rare opportunity to own a car that was NEVER to be sold!!! As you can tell by his cars, Chuck was a bit of a gearhead, and liked to go fast! I think he liked the drags!! I'm sure he had his fun in this one!! As I can't ask for any info, I will do the best that I can to describe it. I recommend personal, or at least professional inspections BEFORE auctions end!. I am told that this car is fitted with a 383 Stroker. It has a Turbo 400 Automatic, and a 10 bolt rear. It has huge exhaust headers with insulators on the plug wires, so they don't burn.. It has a high energy ignition system. It has 17" Cragar SS Mags with 275/40ZR17.s on the rear and 215/50R17 on the front. The entire heating, and air conditioning system has been removed. I guess this was built for the drag strip, due to the huge tach, with shift warning light, and the shifter with the reverse lock out so you don't make any mistakes at 100 mph!! Now comes the sticky part...........This car is titled in Pennsylvania as an antique. It wears an antique plate that can be purchased with the car by Pennsylvania residents. BUT........I can, nor cannot verify that this is a street legal car. I think it is, however, it is being sold without any guarantees to anything! We have a clean Pa. title in Chuck's name that should be transferrable in any state. It is branded "A" for Antique. Mileage cannot be verified. Please know what you are buying, and what your laws are BEFORE you buy. My friend wants to sell these cars at a reasonable price. Greetings to All!! imotors is quite pleased to offer possibly the nicest 1978 Olds Toronado Brougham Available anywhere! 1977-78 was the Last of the BIG GM Front drive Luxo Barges. 1979 saw the first in a series of "Downsizing" before the final demise on 1992(The Riv made it to 1999, and the Eldo to 2002). Brougham lovers everywhere get weak in the knees when one like this becomes available. A Gorgeous example that was apparently always garaged, and treated like one of the family! Examples like this one are unheard of! Most have over 200 Thousand miles by now, and are still going strong. This Gorgeous Toronado Was recently traded to us by a gentleman who tells me that he purchased it from a local estate. It is mostly original, and just runs and drives fantastic!! All bumper fillers are original with the exception of both quarter panel extensions. They are fiberglass, and fit ok, not perfect, but certainly acceptable. The rear bumper has some VERY light pitting present, and the chrome is peeling around the jack holes. I was unable to find a replacement, so re-chroming will be necessary if you want it fixed. this is not that noticeable, but I wanted to disclose! There were also some nicks right above the lower molding on the bottom of the trunk lid. I brush touched these areas, and had I not mentioned it, you would not have noticed. I see no rust or rot present anywhere. I assume that this Toronado has always been garaged and pampered!!! I have personally driven this Toronado over 100 miles at highway speeds!!! It runs and drives utterly fantastic with no issues noted. Everything works including the Cruise Control, AND the Power Antenna(although a bit sluggish). A/C blows Ice Cold. Pa.title is clean and clear and reads Actual mileage. Mileage seems accurate(I was told it is), but cannot be verified due to age. The rest of the rear, and the fronts are original. Take a look at the many detailed photos. This Oldsmobile is just Beautiful, and ready to be enjoyed by the next luck owner!!! Note the reflection Here you can see some of the misfit! Still looks quite acceptable for a 36 year old car. You can see in this photo the peeling chrome around the jack holes. Minor, but we wanted you to know! Nice and straight!!! There are no weather cracks in the padded Landau top. It too, is Gorgeous! I would guess that this was a garaged and pampered car. The condition of the exterior, especially the lack of wear would be a good indication! The chrome and brightwork are Gorgeous No pits or damage noted! Nice and clean with original rubber mats! The sumptuous interior is in fantastic condition and is certainly commensurate with the low mileage and excellent care our Gorgeous Toro has seen throughout its 36 year life.
