Lots of room, a pillowy soft ride, and purring V8 power all make for a very unique driving experience that we'll never see again. With incredible preservation, this one will take you back to the great days of open-air cruising when American luxury made you feel like the king of the world. The color is called Silver Taupe and it looks just about right on this big Olds. Not aggressive, but rather sophisticated and elegant. It's also the car's original paint, and while it's not perfect, it is remarkably well-preserved for being more than 40 years old. You could give it a deep clean and a buff to really bring out the shine, but as it sits, it has a nice soft glow that makes you want to heat out west on a long road trip. Obviously with original paint the sheetmetal underneath is also original and in excellent condition and despite the era's reputation for excess, the Delta 88 is clean and chiseled without looking too baroque. A contrasting rub strip accentuates the car's clean flanks and a familiar Oldsmobile split grille up front was the corporate look during the mid-70s. Sure, there's some chrome, including a pair of bumpers as big as battering rams, but the overall presentation is restrained and trim. The black interior is also 100% original and shockingly well-preserved. Wide bench seats offer room for six and even the guys in the middle probably won't be complaining about space. There are no splits or tears in the seats, no major wear, just some very minor comfort marks that are probably inevitable. Neat trim on the doors adds a bit of interest to the otherwise monochromatic interior and even the faux woodgrain on the dash is pretty convincing. Power windows are a useful addition on any convertible and the AM/8-track radio provides reasonable entertainment if you happen to have some 8-track tapes lying around. The convertible top is also probably original and in good condition, and these big GM ragtops used a unique scissors mechanism that allowed for a full-width back seat as well as a glass rear window. There's a matching black boot for when the top is down and the trunk is outfitted with a correct rubber mat and full-sized spare. The 350 cubic inch "Rocket" V8 under the hood delivers plenty of power for effortless cruising and entertaining performance. No, these were never intended to be fast cars, but it has a graceful and inevitable feel and you just know that it was built to cruise all day at 80 MPH across the wide-open spaces. The engine bay is pretty original and not detailed for show, but there's plenty of recent maintenance, including a new radiator up front to keep it cool. It starts with a familiar Oldsmobile growl from the single tailpipe and idles smoothly enough that you can barely feel it through the steering wheel. As a full-sized car, the big Olds gets a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with 2.73 gears inside, so it's a superlative highway cruiser. The floors are in good condition for an original car, and it hasn't lost a bit of its impossibly smooth ride. Part of that is attributable to the cushy 225/75/15 Uniroyal radials, which have been fitted to the original wheels. With only three owners and a remarkable state of preservation, this Olds represents high-quality summer time fun at a very reasonable price. Price reduced again on this great example of the last big American convertible. This is an unmolested 1975 Delta 88 Royale with under 22,000 original miles. After frame-off restoring a 1971 Olds 442 convertible, I wanted to get a driver -- a big Olds convertible -- so I bought this car in May 2004 and have added less than 4,000 miles in 8 years. It has spent all of that time, when not being driven, under a custom cover in my garage. It's never seen snow and was caught in a thunderstorm once. There is little more than anecdotal history available on this car. I only know what I learned from the second owner, a lady who had little detail. She inherited it from an elderly gentleman who bought the car in South Dakota. He drove it for a short time, stored it in a barn for, I'm guessing, over 20 years, and then it was passed within the original family to her in Oregon. She had turned it over to someone to "clean it up" in preparation for sale. I bought the car based on that information and a few photos and had it shipped cross-country to me. On arrival in Massachusetts, it was apparent that the car had received only some cosmetic work. It has a new convertible top (have the original burgundy boot), some paint work, and the original side molding has been replaced. All panels are straight and true as you can see in the photos. Glass and chrome are excellent. The interior is also excellent, with no fading, cracks, or tears in the upholstery. There are under 50 miles on a new set of whitewall radials. The original wire wheel covers are in perfect shape. Floors and trunk are sound and clean. I added carpet in the trunk and a new hood pad. Frame is solid. I have spent $3000 on the car, servicing and replacing all items that could have suffered time-related deterioration or that were showing signs of problems, including: shocks (replaced with KYB gas shocks to reduce the floaty feel on the road), radiator, hoses, belts, gaskets (incl. valve covers), fuel and brake lines, heater core, battery, alternator, muffler,fuel pump, and tires. The 350/4bbl engine was tuned by a performance Buick specialist. I had the AC reconditioned and upgraded to R134a. I had the transmission and differential drained, cleaned, and regasketed. I did some work on the scissor-top mechanism (replaced cable, motor). The original AM/FM 8-track is in the dash but does not work. To avoid cutting, my plan was to add a small CD stereo in the glove box and two speakers in carpeted boxes in the back seat. All of those parts would go with the car if desired.In summary, this is an absolutely gorgeous head-turning car, with classic and sleek Olds lines and striking white on white color scheme. It runs and drives beautifully. I have apparently come out the other side of my collector car "phase", having sold the 442, and now this pretty Delta ragtop sits in my garage waiting for someone with the time to take it on cruises and get it the attention it deserves. For sale is a great piece of history. Coming from a collection of cars from a California estate in which the owner passed away, I owned it for some years, and now it is your chance! Nearly 40 years old, this 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Indianapolis 500 Festival Pace Car is a great car that is not only all original, but very presentable and very functional- ready to cruise in! This car has been a California and western car its whole life and is very rust free and the sheet metal is in amazing condition especially for its age. The underside is immaculate and has probably the very nicest undercarriage I have ever seen on a classic car. 44,000 miles. Sunroof works. Carpet and headliner are great. Black is still original paint which is absolutely amazing to find! (Does have crows feet especially by the rear side windows, I think this was a factory recall or defect on many of these), the silver was faded and so it was painted over. Decals and stripes are great. The dash pad has cracks so it would be nice to replace it eventually for cosmetics. The interior is original, so expect wear, but still nice. There is some sunfade on interior by rear window, etc. A dent in deck lid, a couple dents from something in the trunk, a few door dings, one slightly worse door mark, but really nothing major at all. I just can't tell you how many compliments I get everywhere driving this, way more than driving a 70 442 w30! You just don't see these around, and if you do see them, they are in a shed, not drivable, needing everything, rust buckets, and not sunroof cars. Very, very few miles on the tires! This is the best Delta Pace car you will find for price! I have enjoyed this for years and now I would like to find a new home for it. I tried to do my best to describe the condition of the car. Check out my store for more great Unique and Classic Cars. Look at the Autocheck Score. Out of an average of it Scored a Make sure and check out the Video below. This is a sweet car. I really like these cars especially when they are this clean and good runners and this one is no exception. This car has the 5.0L engine and automatic transmission and it fires right up and runs, drives, and shifts great. This Delta 88 is a very nice driver and just cruises down the road. Everything on the car feels tight and you can just tell that it has been taken care of over the years. That is why I really like these 1 and 2 Owner Cars that have really low miles like this one. If you look at the Autocheck the miles check out and are right at 94K Original Miles. Under the hood and undercarriage are clean and dry as can be. Make sure to watch the video I do a complete walk around of the car inside and out and even take it on a test drive. This is a 1 Owner Car that ONLY has 94K Original Miles The exterior of this car is beautiful. It is a lighter metallic blue in color with a white quarter vogue top. The car is very nice looking. The paint is in excellent condition and has a very nice shine to it. The top is in the same great shape and shows very little wear or weathering. This car is very straight and was definitely taken care of over the years. This car has a lot of chrome on it and it all looks great and just shines in the sun. I really like the big chrome rocker panels going down either side. The factory wire wheel covers are in great shape and show very little road wear and look very good on the car. The tires are a newer set of Bridgestone Tires that I would say have about have about 90% tread left. These are very nice tires that have a lot of miles left on them. It shows very little wear and just looks great. It has the blue cloth pillow top seats. The front seats show almost no wear or fading and there is no rips or tears in them anywhere. The back seats don't even look like they were ever sat in. This car had to of sat in a garage most of the time because you can tell that the sun hasn't got to the interior. This is a Royale so it does have some of the upgraded features like power everything and very cold Factory A/C. Check out the video I go through and show you everything. Nothing beats an older classic car like this that is this clean and runs this good. Someone really took care of this car and you can tell inside and out. Bottom side piece of back filler piece on passenger side broke. Moulding around the bottom of the vogue top is dry and worn. Slightest fade on top surfaces. Front drivers fender chrome rocker panel missing. Tiny wear hole in drivers carpet and mat. Drivers armrest vinyl peeling. Low coolant light comes on sometimes but coolant isn't low. This 1972 Oldsmobile 88 Royale Holiday is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. 1972 was the first year for the Royale series to include the four door cars. This particular being the Holiday line which means it%26acirc;??s a true hardtop car in other words there is no window pillars. This adds to the nostalgia of the car considering they do not make cars this style any longer. Roll down all four windows and a huge gaping hole opens in the middle of the vehicle giving everyone complete and unobstructed views. The other thing that 88 has that they don%26acirc;??t make anymore is the very popular 455 Rocket under the hood. These motors got the rocket name for one simple reason, mash the gas and the sky\'s the limit as the 350 LB torque propels this land yacht to the moon, figuratively speaking of course. With the car showing less than 60000 actual miles this American icon has just began to get broken in. This car left the factory with the plush brown leather that you see before you. The matching tan vinyl top looks as good as it did when it left the factory. The car does have a small bit of rust on the rear quarters but it looks to be \"superficial\" with the trunk and floor pans being exceptionally solid. Lots of room, a pillowy soft ride, and purring V8 power all make for a very unique driving experience that we'll never see again. With incredible preservation, this one will take you back to the great days of open-air cruising when American luxury made you feel like the king of the world. The color is called Silver Taupe and it looks just about right on this big Olds. Not aggressive, but rather sophisticated and elegant. It's also the car's original paint, and while it's not perfect, it is remarkably well-preserved for being more than 40 years old. You could give it a deep clean and a buff to really bring out the shine, but as it sits, it has a nice soft glow that makes you want to heat out west on a long road trip. Obviously with original paint the sheetmetal underneath is also original and in excellent condition and despite the era's reputation for excess, the Delta 88 is clean and chiseled without looking too baroque. A contrasting rub strip accentuates the car's clean flanks and a familiar Oldsmobile split grille up front was the corporate look during the mid-70s. Sure, there's some chrome, including a pair of bumpers as big as battering rams, but the overall presentation is restrained and trim. The black interior is also 100% original and shockingly well-preserved. Wide bench seats offer room for six and even the guys in the middle probably won't be complaining about space. There are no splits or tears in the seats, no major wear, just some very minor comfort marks that are probably inevitable. Neat trim on the doors adds a bit of interest to the otherwise monochromatic interior and even the faux woodgrain on the dash is pretty convincing. Power windows are a useful addition on any convertible and the AM/8-track radio provides reasonable entertainment if you happen to have some 8-track tapes lying around. The convertible top is also probably original and in good condition, and these big GM ragtops used a unique scissors mechanism that allowed for a full-width back seat as well as a glass rear window. There's a matching black boot for when the top is down and the trunk is outfitted with a correct rubber mat and full-sized spare. The 350 cubic inch "Rocket" V8 under the hood delivers plenty of power for effortless cruising and entertaining performance. No, these were never intended to be fast cars, but it has a graceful and inevitable feel and you just know that it was built to cruise all day at 80 MPH across the wide-open spaces. The engine bay is pretty original and not detailed for show, but there's plenty of recent maintenance, including a new radiator up front to keep it cool. It starts with a familiar Oldsmobile growl from the single tailpipe and idles smoothly enough that you can barely feel it through the steering wheel. As a full-sized car, the big Olds gets a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with 2.73 gears inside, so it's a superlative highway cruiser. The floors are in good condition for an original car, and it hasn't lost a bit of its impossibly smooth ride. Part of that is attributable to the cushy 225/75/15 Uniroyal radials, which have been fitted to the original wheels. With only three owners and a remarkable state of preservation, this Olds represents high-quality summer time fun at a very reasonable price.
