1974 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNERMATCHING NUMBERSVIN# RM21G4G268425Up for sale is a well documented UNRESTORED ORIGINAL three owner 1974 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER. This is a wonderful specimen of a very rare unmolested TIME CAPSULE MOPAR. Being just 1 of 212 total, 318 CID / HURST / Pistol-Grip / 4-Speed's produced in that model year with this configuration, and one of one Special Order. Brought up to New England from Virginia in the spring of 2013 after being purchased from the original owner. This fine automobile was originally ordered back in 1974 from TED CURRY MOTORS, INC., a Plymouth dealer in Petersburg Virginia. It spent the next 39 years in Boykins Virginia with the original owner. This Road runner was a special order, stripe delete with the vinyl top, a true gentleman's Mopar muscle car. This unmolested beauty has all the original documents, from the original window sticker and bill of sale, even the original owners first registration, Virginia Title (copy) & VA Antique license plate, etc. the list goes on. From the fender tag to the build sheet, you name it and I most likely have it. At the time of original purchase minor modifications were done at the Plymouth dealership before leaving the lot, air conditioning, and wheel opening moldings were added. This Special Order stripe delete Plymouth Road runner has the original EW1 Spinnaker White paint which holds an excellent shine. Sporting the J54 Power-Bulge Hood, and all of the original rust free body panels, with the exception of one small rust spot at the base of the front drivers side fender, very minor at that. That is the only area of corrosion on the whole car. All panels have excellent fit, gaps and alignment. The car is solid top to bottom, the frame rails, floors, and trunk pan are all rust free and rock solid original. The light gold vinyl top was replaced in 2007 and done right with a factory style fit and is in excellent condition. All the stainless trim, moldings, and chrome are in very good condition. The fourteen inch Argent painted Rally Wheels with chrome hubs are in great shape, with new later period radial white letter tires. The undercarriage of the car is solid and rust free. All of the glass is clear and blemish free. The trunk has the original jack and tools, spare tire and original trunk mat. The car shows and presents itself well and gets a lot of compliments and turns many heads every time it leaves my garage. The original light gold bucket seat interior is in excellent shape, from the headliner to the dash and rear deck, all are near perfect. The original carpet is extra clean and not showing much of any ware, with minimal fading it is in overall great original condition. The door panels and rear side panels are all original and in excellent like new condition. The seats front and rear are in fabulous original condition, although there is a small puncture on the front passenger bucket seat, which is barely noticeable. The center console is completely in tact and extra clean with no fading or cracks, the compartment door opens and closes as it should. The Hurst Pistol-Grip four speed shifter is clean and in near perfect condition. The Rallye Gauge Instrument Cluster is super clean and blemish free, all of the lenses are clear, and the instruments functioning properly and are very clean. The original factory wood grain steering wheel is well preserved and in excellent condition. The odometer currently reads 44,207 original documented miles and climbing as I continue to enjoy the pleasurable ride. This is a non smokers car, the interior smells like a new car, no musty old car oder that you tend to find in older cars. To the best of my knowledge every switch, knob and lever operates correctly. All lights, directionals, speedometer, gas, temperature, and amp gauges, Beep-Beep Horn, wipers, air conditioning, heater and defrost are functioning properly. With the exception of the clock, where time has come to a halt. The original AM radio operates as new, the station selector panel and preset push buttons all work as they should. The original numbers matching drivetrain has never been apart or modified in any way. Mechanically the 318 motor purrs like a kitten, you can barely hear it run. There is a newer low-restriction dual exhaust system with factory chrome Machine Gun exhaust tips, that growls like a beast! The HURST Heavy-Duty, Four-Speed Manual Transmission shifts smoothly through the gears with ease and is paired up with a Sure-Grip 8 & 1/4 rear with a 3.21 ratio. The car starts, runs and drives perfectly, with the Heavy-Duty suspension, front and rear sway bars, it feels very firm and solid without any squeaks or rattles and goes down the road like it did back in 1974. The car has no leaks and does not leave drops of fluid or stains on the floor below. Very dependable and enjoyable, and an absolute pleasure to drive, simply turn the key and go. I would not hesitate to drive this car across country. This car has been very well maintained, with a recent coolant flush, synthetic oil change, clutch adjustment kit and spring, new filters etc. I have confidence in its absolute excellent reliability and driveability. I have a free and clear New Hampshire Title in my possession.DECODING THE FENDER TAG-CODE- DESCRIPTION------------------------------------------------------------------------E44- 318-2 Barrel-D21- Heavy Duty 4-Speed Manual Transmission-RM21- -R- Plymouth Road Runner-M- Medium-21- 2 Door Coupe-G4G -G- 318 1-2BBL 8 CYL-4- 1974-G- St. Louis, MO, USA-268425- Sequence Number '268425'-EW1- Paint Code: / Spinnaker White-D6Y3- Trim Grade / Style / Color-D- Deluxe-6- Vinyl Bucket Seats-Y3- Light Gold-000- Upper Door Frame: Full Door Panel-520- Date Built: 5 / 20 / 1974-196385- Order Number: 196385-V1Y- Roof Type OR Color: Full Vinyl Roof Gold-U- Built to Specifications for USA Order-A88- Interior Decour Group-B43- Manual Brakes-C16- Console with / Woodgrain Panel-C56- Bucket Seats -G54- Left Hand Outside Mirror - Remote / Chrome-J54- Power-Bulge / Performance Hood-L31- Fender Mount Turn Signals-N41- Dual Exhaust -N42- Chrome Dual Exhaust Tips-R11- Music Master Radio / AM-V88- Delete Transverse Stripe-END- End of Codes Please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. In 1972 Plymouth merged the GTX and Road Runner into one model. The combination lasted to 1974 with low build numbers for the entire 3 years of production. This is one of the 749 cars built in 1973. This car is unique in its complete documented history and collector ownership it's entire 53,000 mile life. Built in Oct 72 as a special order dealer "BRASS HAT CAR", it's got all the convenience features excepting power windows. The window sticker shows base car of $3,000 and nearly $2000 in options. It carries Air Conditioning, Power Brakes, Power Steering, along with performance rear axle, sport wheels, deluxe bucket seat/console interior and stereo radio. It has a modern CD player in the glove box. It's numbers matching, of course, and with all the historical documentation and options is an excellent investment grade car. Please Check Out My Other Car Auctions 1971 426 HEMI ROAD RUNNER The Awesome Hemi Road Runner that you see here is one of the finest examples of a Hemi car in existence today! Not only is it rare for being one of only 59 Hemi Road Runners built in 1971 but when you take into account all of this cars documentation, its original factory installed numbers matching drivetrain and its always rust-free body it becomes a truly special Hemi car! There were over 11,070 Hemi powered cars built in an eight year span from 1964 to 1971 and only 397 or 3.5% of them were '71 models! There can't possibly be very many 1971 Hemi cars left that still have their original factory installed numbers matching drivetrain, their original window sticker, original purchase contract, original Broadcast Sheet, original warranty paper, original skid distance sheet and a complete ownership history and an always rust-free body to boot! This Fantastic Hemi Road Runner was featured in the May '94 issue of Mopar Collectors Guide as the Finest Unrestored '71 Hemi Road Runner to Exist! It was later purchased by a top collector and with only 49,000 original miles on the clock it was given a high level restoration using all original NOS parts! This owner sold it to Tim Wellborn in 2004 and I got it in a trade with Tim 5 years ago. As you might imagine, this Special Hemi Road Runner has lived a very pampered life and is in near mint condition! 1968 Plymouth Road Runner 2dr sedan, (post). This car was professionally restored by one of Canada's top restoration shops here in Ontario back in 2008. The underlying body work is exceptional - no expense was spared. The paint work was done to the same industry benchmark standard. Since 2008 the car has only seen occasional use - 2525 miles, and was caught in the rain ONCE. I have the Galen Govier paperwork along with the original build sheet. This car came from the factory as a base Road Runner. No options! An AM radio was added at some time during it's life and I left it installed; after a thorough going over. The engine stampings are: Right side, under distributor - D 383 4 16 2 HP. This decodes as D - 1968, 4 16 2 - April 16th 2nd sequence, HP - High Performance. On the left side of the engine: PT 383 H 2454 200. I will supply a photo of the fender tag if requested but the tag detail supports the colour; SS1 yellow, RM21 Road Runner 2 door coupe, and the options; or lack of options as I mentioned, 62 - 383 Hi Perf engine, 3 - 4 speed trans, 416 - produced April 16th, 1968. Please study the attached pictures that detail many of the restoration stages. The front fenders were new. The rear quarters were replaced with new panels that extend from the rear sail panels to the bottom and rear. The door skins were hand made; no reproduction skins were available in 2008, and the rockers; inner and outer, were hand made and replaced along with new rear wheel wells. Nothing was overlooked! The hood was "massaged" to remove any imperfections and the roof and trunk lid are original. Imperfections on the air intake in front of the windshield were properly repaired as well. The interior; front and rear seats, headliner, door panels, and carpet were replaced with new. The wiring is all new, the rubber seals were replaced, all suspension components are new and a new Auburn Posi unit was installed. Brakes, clutch, clutch pressure plate, clutch bearing, and wheel bearings were all replaced. All brake lines and gas lines were replaced along with a new gas tank. All cooling hoses, clamps etc. were replaced as well. The engine was rebuilt before I got it so it only required new gaskets, a new fuel pump, cleaning and painting. The carburetor was rebuilt and a new radiator installed. I did replace the factory distributor; points system, with a newer MOPAR electronic system, The ignition control box is mounted out of view under the battery so that the engine compartment retains a stock look. I did remove the reproduction exhaust mufflers and installed new low noise Flow Masters for a period correct sound. The dash and gauges were not touched during the restoration as reproduction gauges were not available. The gauges and speedo all work but the red pointers are faded. The paint on the top of the dash is also faded. Since 2008 I have obtained new reproduction gauges and a new reproduction lowerdash panel with "factory new" painted letters. I will include these with the sale of the car. The car comes with a set of Torque Thrust wheels and radial tires; currently installed, along with the original steel wheels complete with new reproduction bias ply tires - and of course the orignal "dog dish" hub caps. The original steel wheels were properly sand blasted and painted to match the cars yellow colour. The glass is all original with some light scratches in places but nothing too bad or it would have been replaced. The restoration of this car was well into six figures of cost when completed. Times have changed and I have to let the car go as I do not have the storage space available to keep all the cars I own. As you can see from my previous comments, I've only driven the car 2500 miles since it was restored. Frankly I was always mindful of wear and possible damage when I drove it so it sat in my garage most of its life. A shame as it runs fantastic and is a lot of fun on the road. I've tried to capture all of the details; good and less good, but welcome questions or a direct conversation. The pictures clearly show that all the ugliness that comes with age and the environment, have been properly repaired. The car still looks as good after 7 years with none of the issues that come with haphazard paint and body work. Thank you for reading! ALL questions & queries are welcome. I have many additional pictures that I'd be happy to share. Please note: 1) The buyer will make a PayPal deposit of $1000 withing 24 hours of winning the auction. This deposit will apply to the balance owed but is not refundable under any circumstances. The remaining funds can be delivered in person when the car is picked up or other arrangments can be made. Final and fullpayment is required within 7 days of buyer commitment. The car will not be released to the buyer until final payment is processed. I will happily work with the buyer to arrange shipping and manage any required paperwork. My goal is to achieve a win win for both buyer and myself.

Of course, painting anything Sublime green is simply asking for attention, but it's fortunate that this car looks as good as it does if all those folks are going to be staring at it. As a result, the flanks are smooth, the doors fit well, and there are no major issues in the usual spots. The paint looks great rendered in modern materials that give it a shine that was impossible 40 years ago, and a professional buff should make it bright enough burn retinas. The big block hood is dressed up with cool '440' inserts and a black strobe stripe kit that's a big part of the look, plus that satin black wing out back that ties it all together. Both the front and rear bumpers seem to echo each other in their shape, and with bright chrome and nicely polished stainless trim, the car has a great look.Inside, the interior got a mild makeover that's both period-perfect and ready to cater to serious drivers. Buckets and a console make it a desirable car, and the horizontal pleats work well with the '70s theme. Heck, the car's logo is a cartoon bird, a bit of fun with the disco era is definitely welcome! An original wheel frames factory gauges, and the dash itself, along with the console, has been dressed up with some woodgrained appliques that are at least moderately convincing. This one also packs power steering and brakes, as well as an AM/FM head unit in the dash, so cruising is a genuine pleasure. The back seat with its highly sculpted seating surfaces looks like the best seat in the house and there's a taut headliner overhead to complete the OEM look. Revised styling also included a large, usable trunk, which carries a full-sized spare and jack assembly, plus a correct mat that might very well be original. The 440 cubic inch engine is beautifully detailed, and somehow that contrast between Sublime green paint and the Hemi Orange engine always looks incredible. This was originally an N-code high-performance 383 car, but the 440 fits just as well and looks right. They paid attention to the details when it went together, including a twin-snorkel air cleaner with reproduction decals, and it shows only modest signs of use. The 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic is bulletproof and in the Road Runner, offers quick reflexes and relaxed cruising, so you can drive it every day without a penalty. It's not detailed for show, but the underside is quite clean and there's a recent exhaust system that sounds strong without being too loud. Staggered Rallye wheels wear 215/70/14 front and wide 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials, which fill those wheel wells perfectly. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. I have 1969 Plymouth Road Runner project, 2 dr post, 383/727 column shift that needs full restoration. I have an additional 100+ photos for serious buyers. Shoot me an email and I can send them over if you provide me an email address. Non numbers matching. I've had this car for the last 7 years in my possession. What I was told about the motor/trans is that "it has a mild cam just over .400 inch lift and 282 duration, it is very streetable, stock compression was 10 to 1 making 330 horse power and 425 foot ponds of torque. This assembly is around 9.8 to 1, the heads have been worked, and the monstrous valves gulp in even more fuel and air. The 727 is firm with a 3000 stall converter to keep it from pushing at a red light. It is a balanced assembly." Now I cannot verify that, so take it for what it's worth. I did ensure the motor turned over by hand before I put it back in the car for transport purpose and I had stored it properly. The Radiator is leaking bad, I may decide to put another one in for testing purposes as I had bought new plugs and wires to get it started, but if I do get the motor running price will go up. I had many new parts for it that I recently threw on the car for transport purposes, new hemi rear leaf springs (installed, Mancini extended spring eye and re-enforcement plate (installed), donor frame rail (installed), 2 piece trunk pan welded in but needs some massaging where it meets the back seat area, driver side trunk extension (installed), have passenger side extension as well, rear cross member (installed). full suspension rebuild kit (driver side fully on, needs torque on some components, but good enough to move vehicle), lower control arm bushings (installed), new fuel lines, new drum shoes (installed, springs, wheel cylinders (installed), new drums, drum rebuild kits, driver side full quarter skin in pic, new mopar shocks (installed). I believe rear gear ratio is 3.23. Rear end needs full rebuild. The car has a Safe T Cap fix on the front driver side frame rail (all offending rust underneath was cut out and sealed), it's solid and stronger than stock see pic, and the last 12-18 inches of the rear driver side was cut and donor was welded in, (Needs filler metal, but plenty strong, has reinforcement on the outside as well as inside the frame rail.) The wheels and tires, will need to be replaced as they are both garbage (one leaks bad, but I will use fix a flat, just to get it on a trailer when someone comes to take it), seats probably are only good for frames. Major issues in floor were patched in, but there are a few other issues, nothing major though, minor holes that could use some plugging, or if you want to do it right then new floor pans, but fine for a driver I think. Needs all wiring (This is a full restoration project) with some components completed. Floor pans are now black btw. I couldn't fit in the pics, but lower passenger side rear quarter needs work, outside wheel housings as well. It's fine for driving though. Really depends what type of resto you are looking for. I have clear title from previous owner, I will provide bill of sale from my side. Please, if your close to central, NJ. Come take a look first before bidding. I want to make sure whoever gets it is happy with it. Also as stated above, have an additional 100+ photos for buyers from out of state if need be. ONLY BIDDERS WITH 100% Feedback and at least 5 transactions please. All else will be cancelled. I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Car will not leave my driveway until it's paid in full. Thank you for looking.
