Not only is this the most desirable SSEi Supercharged model, it is in really nice condition with just 53k original miles from a clean, corrosion free climate and has a very nice color combination. Also, this car is as complete as you could ever imagine with all keys (including the original valet key), all remotes, all factory floor mats, owners manuals, On Star supplement package, CD changer cartridge (brand new, never used), cargo net AND a Pontiac accessory kit which includes an ice scraper, emergency spotlight, gloves, rags, tie downs, glow stick, poncho and more PLUS an air line that plugs into the on-board compressor! The car is fully equipped as well, it has chromed alloy wheels, dual power seats w/lumbar support (driver's side memory), power glass moonroof, Monsoon Premium Audio w/AM-FM, CD PLUS CD changer in trunk, steering wheel mounted audio controls, heads up display, full leather, on board air compressor, dual zone 'driver/passenger' climate control, Home Link built in garage door opener, traction control, On Star and all the rest of the normal power options. The car is in it's original state, it has never been modified with any hacked in electronics, no 'performance' parts, no loud exhaust systems or anything that would take away from the original design of the car. Please take time to look at the 85+ photos, I have taken several of the undercarriage to show how clean the car is, it still has the original 'chalk markings' and manufacturers tags on the various components from the assembly line, truly remarkable. The body of the car is very straight and clean, there are a few blemishes on the rear bumper that are not overly noticeable but other than that there are no dings, dents or scratches anywhere on the car. The front bumper had a few scuffs down low so I had that professionally refinished, now, there is hardly even a stone chip on the front of the car. Glass is clear all the way around with no tinting, windshield is in great shape with no pitting, chips or excessive wear. All lights and lenses are intact and in good working order, even the fog lamps are in good shape and functional. The car has a set of matching Michelins and they are not new but show approximately 55% tread life remaining and they are worn evenly indicating that the car is aligned properly. The chromed factory alloys look great on the car and are in fantastic condition with no curb rash or chemical burns, all center caps are in place as well. The interior of the car is equally as nice, this car belonged to a non smoker so it smells of fresh leather, no foul or tobacco odors and definitely no burns in any of the carpet or fabric. Dash, door panels, console and headliner are all intact as are the illuminated visors. Leather shows just minimal wear and at that, really only on the driver's seat but I have seen cars with even less mileage that have showed more wear than this car, it's really nice. The rear seats have a fold down armrest as well as a through-way for skis or other long items to pass through the trunk into the inside of the car. The car has all the original mats, the driver's mat shows some wear from where the heel rests in front of the pedals but if you are super picky you can replace that for just a few bucks. I wanted to keep all the original stuff with the car so I did not bother to replace it. The car has nice cold A/C and good heat too. Mechanically the car is sound, the engine is smooth, powerful and quiet and does not exhibit any leakage. Transmission shifts properly and the car holds the road very well. The supercharger seems healthy as indicated by the boost gauge and this car is a real blast to drive. Also noteworthy is that there are no check engine lights or any warning indicators on in the dash. If you are a fan of these Bonnevilles, don't miss this opportunity to own a really nice one. Cars that are this complete, in this condition, fully equipped with a spotless history, low mileage and 100% corrosion free sheet metal are getting increasingly difficult to find. The only thing close to this one here on Ebay is a really nice 55k mile black SLE and that seller is aking for $10k, it's not even close to what this car is as the Supercharged models command alot more and I'm only asking $8450. As cheap as that already is for such a nice and hard to find car, I will entertain REASONABLE offers from REAL buyers. Not only is this the most desirable SSEi Supercharged model, it is in really nice condition with just 53k original miles from a clean, corrosion free climate and has a very nice color combination. Also, this car is as complete as you could ever imagine with all keys (including the original valet key), all remotes, all factory floor mats, owners manuals, On Star supplement package, CD changer cartridge (brand new, never used), cargo net AND a Pontiac accessory kit which includes an ice scraper, emergency spotlight, gloves, rags, tie downs, glow stick, poncho and more PLUS an air line that plugs into the on-board compressor! The car is fully equipped as well, it has chromed alloy wheels, dual power seats w/lumbar support (driver's side memory), power glass moonroof, Monsoon Premium Audio w/AM-FM, CD PLUS CD changer in trunk, steering wheel mounted audio controls, heads up display, full leather, on board air compressor, dual zone 'driver/passenger' climate control, Home Link built in garage door opener, traction control, On Star and all the rest of the normal power options. The car is in it's original state, it has never been modified with any hacked in electronics, no 'performance' parts, no loud exhaust systems or anything that would take away from the original design of the car. Please take time to look at the 85+ photos, I have taken several of the undercarriage to show how clean the car is, it still has the original 'chalk markings' and manufacturers tags on the various components from the assembly line, truly remarkable. The body of the car is very straight and clean, there are a few blemishes on the rear bumper that are not overly noticeable but other than that there are no dings, dents or scratches anywhere on the car. The front bumper had a few scuffs down low so I had that professionally refinished, now, there is hardly even a stone chip on the front of the car. Glass is clear all the way around with no tinting, windshield is in great shape with no pitting, chips or excessive wear. All lights and lenses are intact and in good working order, even the fog lamps are in good shape and functional. The car has a set of matching Michelins and they are not new but show approximately 55% tread life remaining and they are worn evenly indicating that the car is aligned properly. The chromed factory alloys look great on the car and are in fantastic condition with no curb rash or chemical burns, all center caps are in place as well. The interior of the car is equally as nice, this car belonged to a non smoker so it smells of fresh leather, no foul or tobacco odors and definitely no burns in any of the carpet or fabric. Dash, door panels, console and headliner are all intact as are the illuminated visors. Leather shows just minimal wear and at that, really only on the driver's seat but I have seen cars with even less mileage that have showed more wear than this car, it's really nice. The rear seats have a fold down armrest as well as a through-way for skis or other long items to pass through the trunk into the inside of the car. The car has all the original mats, the driver's mat shows some wear from where the heel rests in front of the pedals but if you are super picky you can replace that for just a few bucks. I wanted to keep all the original stuff with the car so I did not bother to replace it. The car has nice cold A/C and good heat too. Mechanically the car is sound, the engine is smooth, powerful and quiet and does not exhibit any leakage. Transmission shifts properly and the car holds the road very well. The supercharger seems healthy as indicated by the boost gauge and this car is a real blast to drive. Also noteworthy is that there are no check engine lights or any warning indicators on in the dash. If you are a fan of these Bonnevilles, don't miss this opportunity to own a really nice one. It is an original Canadian Vehicle so the odometer reads in Kilometers which is 29,744. That converts over to 18,482 miles. It has a clean and clear Arizona actual mile title. The Formula 350 was the fastest available Pontiac in 1988 and was several hundred pounds less then a comparable GTA. When you chose the 5.7 liter 350 motor it meant that T-tops and a Manual transmission were not available and your only choice was an automatic transmission, and a solid roof. It also came standard with the WS6 suspension package, an oil cooler and 16 inch wheels. The exterior is Bright Red and complimented with a grey cloth interior. The best way to describe this car is a time capsule. It is about nice enough to roll back onto a showroom floor and can almost pass as new. The exterior appears to have all its original paint and is in exceptional condition. This car was clearly stored and covered in a climate controlled environment. The only item that has been replaced are the tires. It has a matched set of Michelin Pilot tires that look like late 1990's vintage but still are in great condition. The interior is equally impressive and still smells new. Absolutely everything works as it should including the power antenna, electric hatch release, headlight motors and even the air conditioning blows ice cold. The only item that seems to have been changed is the radio. It is a correct vintage Delco CD Player and was probably installed when new at the dealer but probably would have had a cassette player instead. The engine compartment and undercarriage of the car is a testament to the life this car has lived. It is not only spotless and original but there is not a speck of rust or corrosion anywhere. You will be hard pressed to find another one in this condition for any price!!! Mechanically it runs and drives just like it did off the showroom floor. It has that classic 5.7 Liter torque and the 700R4 Transmission shifts very crisply through all the gears. There is a small puff of smoke on startup due to the original valve stems are dry which is a common issue and a fairly easy repair. If you wish you could turn back the hands of time to purchase one of these cars, then here is your chance. 1978 Pontiac Trans Am 6.6L 400 Arizona car. Original paint. Ultra clean and well maintained throughout. Original bill of sale and build sheet. All owners are documented. I bought this car with the intent of keeping it in the family forever. My wife and I have since started a family and I have realized it\'s time to pass this beautiful car onto the next owner. History: PHS documented. Built at Van Nuys plant in California and sold at Mecham Pontiac of Phoenix AZ in April 1978, where it was registered to the original owner until 2001. It then passed through two more owners (who were brothers) before I purchased it in 2007. During the winter months it has been stored indoors inside of a car jacket http://www.carbag.com/ which keeps the car 100% dry and preserved. I cannot stress enough how clean, rust free, and dry this car is. This car has been driven responsibly and in no way has it been driven hard or abused! Please read below to appreciate all of the work I have completed on this car.Engine: Original numbers matching L78 400ci rebuilt 800 miles ago. This engine was professionally rebuilt .030 over by local racing legend and engine builder Erick \"Rick\" Johnson of Custom Auto Machine located in Crete, IL. He has Pontiac in his blood and is an extremely talented machinist. Just to show you how trusted he is, Scott Tiemann of Supercar Specialties personally recommended him to me. I encourage you to research them both, you will be very satisfied. I have all receipts and build specs including a balance card for the rotating assembly. It has Keith Black KB133-030 pistons and a Melling CL-MTP-1 camshaft. It runs very strong and will destroy any stock 400ci of this era, but is mild enough to enjoy in all driving conditions. It has the original numbers matching Quadrajet which was recently rebuilt by Cliff Ruggles of Cliff\'s Performance (The top name in Quadrajets). I also added a set of factory reproduction RAM air exhaust manifolds from Ram Air Restorations. They breathe through a 2 \" Pypes stainless steel true dual exhaust with X-pipe and street pro mufflers. I have only run Brad Penn racing oil with the necessary zinc/phosphorus additives for the flat tappet cam. Also, I replaced the radiator this past fall. Transmission/Rear-end:Original numbers matching TH350 3 speed transmission professionally rebuilt 1,500 miles ago that shifts firm and flawlessly. Original 8.5\" 10-bolt safe-t-track posi rear end with 2.56:1 gear ratio.Suspension/undercarriage:I personally detailed and restored the entire undercarriage and suspension. The original red oxide primer is clean, rust free, and show ready! New ball joints and control arm bushings, new tie rods, new sway bar bushings and end links, new coil springs, new shocks, new leaf springs and shackles, new universal joints, new brake pads, shoes and rotors, new gas tank and pick-up screen. All detailed in correct coatings and Extremely Clean!Interior:All original interior except for correct replacement carpet from classic industries. Dash pad is perfect. Alpine flip down head unit with Alpine type R 6x9\'s. Very loud, high quality audio. Rear speakers are disguised as original thanks to a replacement rear seat shelf from classic industries. I have the original factory cassette player that can easily go back into the dash if desired. Seats are original and look great except the driver seat shows typical wear for its age. All gauges work except for the clock which is very common with these cars. Exterior:Paint is original water based paint from the Van Nuys plant and shows well for being 35 years old. It is not perfect but is very respectable. Fisher T-Tops in great condition. Originally ordered as \"bird-delete\" so there is no hood bird on this car. The hood scoop has been repainted and an incorrect 1975 \"400\" decal was added by previous owner. The front bumper has several spots of touch-up paint and the rear bumper is fading. You can easily enjoy it the way it is, or opt to have a repaint on the 100% rust free body. I realize there are several claims out there of being \"rust free\", but I assure you that this car is. The door jams, trunk, quarters, rockers, etc. ALL RUST FREE and original. If you chose to have this car painted, it would be near concourse in its restoration. Everything else has been done. Rims were professionally repainted a few years ago to match build-sheet and tires have 90% tread left on them. Conclusion:This is a gorgeous, well taken care of 1978 Trans Am. It has been fully documented from its build date through all of its owners. I have hundreds of pictures and receipts documenting all work on this car and I am glad to email photos upon request. There are plenty of second generation Trans Ams on the market, but very few of them are documented and cared for as well as this one. I scan Ebay and other sites a few times a week and there is a lot of pieced-together junk and misconceptions out there. 1978 Pontiac Trans Am MACHO TA- One of One Built Up for sale is my ultra rare, 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Macho TA. The history of the Macho Trans Am dates back to 1977 when two brothers, Dennis and Kyle Mecham, sons of a Phoenix area Pontiac dealer decided to begin modifying Firebirds to restore some of the missing performance brought about by the addition of more and more emissions equipment on factory cars. The brothers began modifying the already popular screaming chicken cars, 26 were produced in 1977 as they began to ramp up their performance shop. In 1978 203 Macho TAs would come out of the DKM shop. A W72/L78 engine was used as a baseline, the carb and ignition were modified and a set of Hooker headers and twin catalytic converters were added for a net 50bhp gain. Interestingly, the TAs were all sold as used cars. This was required because Federal law prohibited any modifications to the emissions system on a new car. Their dealership, Mecham Pontiac, sold the new cars to Mecham Performance. The modifications were performed and the cars were then sold to the public. They had virtually no miles on them and had no tags but were sold as a used car because the had already been titled by Mecham Performance. As the word spread that DKM was turning out the 1970's supercar, DKM was quickly becoming the Yenko of the 1970's and orders began rolling in from dealers around the country including Utah and Wyoming where a number still reside today. DKM performed several other modifications including modifying the hood scoop to make it functional. Suspensions were also modified by adding Koni shocks, front springs re-tempered for rake and re-calibrated geometry. Visual appearance was also changed. Macho options included Recaro or Scheel seats, Fosgate stereo, different wheels and tires, fiberglass hood, oil accumulator, and the new paint scheme that varied by color. Every Macho TA also received a limited production number. There were two dozen interior/exterior color combinations listed in the DKM brochure for 1978 but did not include Black with blue accents. When you ordered Starlight Black exterior you had the option to add Gold or Red stripping. Dennis Mecham said: "Jeff (The original owner) called me up from California and wanted us to build him one in black with blue and silver accents and at first I told him that I didn't think that color combo would fly, he said “trust me”. We built it for him and it turned out great." This car is among one of the rarest 2nd Gen Trans AM’s known to exist. It was custom ordered as a Starlight Black on black 4 speed car with the WS6 package and a host of options to start, including power brakes, power windows, power locks, tilt wheel and factory A/C, then delivered to Mecham Pontiac in Arizona. Then Dennis and his team performed the Macho transformation and added the Macho package including Hurst shifter, suspension modifications and other goodies.This Rare Trans Am was body on restored in 2013 and has a detailed engine compartment and under carriage. The car was repainted by the previous owner. The Ws6 wheels have been restored and fitted with correct Goodyear Radial reproduction tires. The interior was completely removed and restored even down to the A/C vents, gas/brake pedal trim, to the seats, headliner, door panels and carpet. The seat belts are original to the car as is the vintage Hurst shifter, console and dash. I restored the console at that time including all new trim and bezel. The original DKM-Macho TA console plate is still present. The dash was not available in aftermarket and I had a slight crack in it so I had it repaired. The gauges and dash bezel have been professionally restored with new lenses as well. This past fall I had the carburetor rebuilt and timing set by a performance shop, the car runs great. The headers will come with the car. Also when the interior was restored I replaced the steering wheel and the horn button, I have the original to the car along with the horn button and the dkm emblem. I put them up in storage to keep them in good shape. They will come with the car. I have the original chrome valve covers from the car and a few odds and ends that you will get as well. According to the build sheet the car was pre-wired by GM for a radio but there is not line item for a radio by Dennis and his shop. Unusual, usually he put in a Concord radio with Fosgate equipment but this car was left up to the first owner to decide. I have a concord radio, a really hard to find item, if the new buyer is interested. Right now it is set up according to the build sheet/invoices. The car does have the correct spare tire, jack etc with a new trunk mat. Trunk is detailed nicely. Car has dual exhaust running into a flowmaster muffler with correct exhaust tips. This Trans Am, car number 106 is the only 1978 documented Black/Blue Macho T/A known to exist and is fully authenticated with a signed letter from Dennis Mecham himself, PHS documentation, factory original build sheet, copies of all original invoices and work orders from DKM performance and a Huge binder of original documentation, literature, and even the note pad with maintenance notes from one of the previous owners in California that was a member of the Flowmaster racing team. The original Mecham Pontiac keychain and keys are with the car as well. The complete owner history is know back to 1978 and even includes the waiver signed by the first owner acknowledging the purchase as a used car due to the fact that DKM could not deliver the new warmed up Macho's as new cars with out an MSO. Uniquely, car #106 was one of the very few Macho's ever delivered to California with the 400, 6.6 litre package which was outlawed due to emissions laws in CA in lieu of the 403 Olds motor. The Hooker Headers are not currently on the car, but came in the trunk when I purchase the car. According to California law they were not allowed to be used so the car still retains it's factory exhaust manifolds in place!
