"Ran when parked in the barn." Appears to be complete, was blocked up and stored for over twenty-two years, with the tires and wheels removed. Clear Indiana title. A work in progress. If you are looking for a solid tropical turquoise car to restore with an Oklahoma DSO, this is it. The Oklahoma City sales area also included Tulsa the Texas panhandle, including Amarillo and Lubbock, as I understand it. The O code paint was only available on a Mustang this one year. It was not available on the 1964 1/2 cars. According to the ISOM registry, there were only around 70 accounted as the time of the survey about 20 years ago, and that included wrecking yard finds that likely no longer exist. Tropical Turquoise is the only paint name color I can find that General Motors and Ford had in common. You will find many 50's Chevies with it, both cars and trucks. I know, you either love it or hate it, but in my opinion, this Mustang needs to go back to its original tropical color. At present the original tropical is visible under the carpets and in other places that were missed in a later red repaint. Red is what you see it on it today until I can get around to putting it back to O code. Based upon ISOM findings, a tropical turquoise O code paint pony is the least common to survive of the stock factory paint codes used for 1965 on the Mustang except for I (Champaign Beige). It runs about equal with code 7, Phoenician Yellow. [Note: One of the neat things about 60's Fords were the number of special paint orders that could and did take place. Ford colors from other car lines such as Thunderbird or Galaxie could be custom-ordered for a Mustang, and there was a corporate sales chart with a rainbow of one-off colors if you did not find what you liked in the Mustang sales brochures.] As you know, April 17 that just passed was the introduction date for the Ford Mustang back fifty years ago, and the early production had started on March 9, 1964. Cars shipped to dealers were kept under wraps, and it was a nifty introduction, with depowered cars used in the Ford pavillion at the New York World's Fair, and later brought back to the factory, rebuilt, and sold to the public. A car was taken apart and displayed on the observation deck of the Empire State Building, at that time the tallest building in the world. The way the car was introduced created a sensation, and set many standards for subsequent marketing campaigns across multiple product lines. There was a shortage of vehicles available for sale, and waiting lists developed which had not happened in the automobile industry since around 1953, when the "big three" finally caught up with pent-up post war demand that had built while automobile manufacturers had been converted to military production only. Originally produced only at Dearborn, as this car was, two additional plants were converted at least partially to Mustang building to keep up with the buying frenzy, the Edison, New Jersey plant, which is now gone, and the Milpitas, California plant, which has now been converted into a shopping mall [a few rare Mustangs eventually also received final assembly in three other locations...Mexico, Australia, and a handful in Europe]. Today, Mustangs are no long assembled at Dearborn either, but at another suburban location south of Detroit. There have been many books written about the people behind the Mustang at Ford, and the processes that were developed in coming up with the brand and the original design. Ford had just come off a big write-off on the Edsel, and management was not anxious to make another costly mistake. The T-5 program, as it was then called within the Ford inner circles, was finally green-lighted in 1962, and the rest, as they say, is history. Those involved became heroic, often iconic figures. Many have said the development of the middle class in the United States gave rise to the demand for second cars, and others have commented that the GI's coming home from the Korean and World Wars were ready for something new. There were several currents ebbing and flowing in the ocean of car building, one was the muscle car movement, where bigger engines were being stuffed into smaller platforms, like Pontiac's Tempest, which was crammed with horsepower and morphed into a GTO sub-model. Another was the coming fuel efficiency movement, where families began opting for something less than the ever longer ever wider ever humongously thirsty family four door sedan. Ford hit the nail on the head by offering any number of options, engine sizes, transmission packages, colors, and decor combinations. The long-hood/short trunk styling started the "pony car" movement. It was a monster at Ford, and like McDonald's hamburger signs, production numbers kept setting new records, with over half a million sold in the extended model year. This particular example was Michigan-assembled in January 1965 was found in 2014 with a 4-V carburetor. The engine runs but needs a carb rebuild, now being addressed. The engine oil, transmission fluid, and radiator coolant have been drained and refreshed. The fuel system has been cleaned. Braking system has been gone through and brakes work. Floors, rockers, and torque boxes solid and intact. The doors look good, with no visible rust in the corners or on the bottoms. The data plate is intact, although it has been painted over. The VIN number on the inner fender matches the title and the door data plate. There is a little corner damage on the passenger side front corner of the hood. Driver's front fender has a cut spot behind the corner of the bumper. Trunk lid roof and doors have no visible damage. Slight bit of bondo in the driver's side rear trunk drop-down. Mileage not verified, but looks appropriate for the number of years of storage. Wheels are after market, and tires are not safe to drive on due to their age. They do hold air. You may inspect this car in Indiana, just south of Chicago. I will be happy to post any photos you might want on my website. Offering for sale as-is-as-priced for a short period of time, but anticipating a restoration will be starting in the near future. $100 reward for previous ownership information and/or confirmation of which Oklahoma DSO dealership might have originally sold this car in early 1965. It could have come out of Oklahoma or the Texas panhandle. There could not have been too many new tropical turquoise Mustangs galloping around Oklahoma or the Texas panhandle, early in 1965. Somebody, perhaps a service person, eventually brought it to Michigan by the 1980's. If you have any recollections, please let us know. Thank you for your interest.

I have for sale a southern, all original, barn find 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix hardtop with 59,000 original miles. This car was taken out of an old garage 3 months ago up by Tulsa Oklahoma. She Hadn't been driven in 20+ years. We brought it back to running condition the correct way, and that is it. It would be a shame to do anything but a show quality, frame off restoration on this car, so I will put it up for sale instead of doing what I can afford to do to it. The story we got from the owner's daughter is that her grandmother and grandfather bought it brand new in California after he came home from the Korean war. He actually was said to have went in early 1963 to the Cadillac dealership to buy a still new 1962 Coupe DeVille, and the dark blue, new body style Pontiac was sitting on the showroom floor. The grand daughter said her grand father said the car chose him at that point and not the other way around! Apparently, children were not allowed to ride in it. It was not that family car, and only Dad was allowed to drive it. It was garaged and waxed and washed and not driven much, and unfortunately put away in the garage wet, hence the rust around the rear quarters where water would collect and then not dry out, but rust can not be found anywhere else on the car. Nothing on the frame or underneath the car, just those rear quarters. The family moved to Arkansas in the late 70s due to a work transfer, and the car was driven less and less. Once the man of the house died, the car sat in a garage until the son bought it and put it in his garage in Claremore, Oklahoma in 1993, with intentions of restoration. His health failed, and therefore the car was barely ever driven, but always rinsed off afterwards, adding to the collection of water without evaporation. It was his daughter who sold us the car, as she needed it out of the garage and also wanted the money. Some people see these cars as giant metal paperweights, and I am just glad she didn't sell it for scrap. As you can see from the pictures, the cars interior and engine bay looks like a 59k original mile car. The body has the normal garage wear and tear, proving its lifetime inside. The car has the original 8 lug wheels, and every little thing on the car works. One of the old tires has a bubble in it, so there is a slight vibration when driving it, but it will run down the road just fine...and still has plenty of power! We do not want to see this car go to someone who is just going to do an ameture restoration on it. This is not a throw away car. This car was babied its entire life, and our hope is that someone will see the potential of it, and restore it back to its original glory. Email this add and do not be afraid to place a best offer price on it. We will consider all offers, but will only sell it to you if your plans are to restore it and not chop it up or make it into a race car. Thanks

[email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Investment Grade Firebird Trans Am Ram Air III V8 w/AC Year: 1969 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 36235 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 400 Ram Air III V8 Interior color: Blue Vehicle info There are MANY reasons to love classic cars. Most people drive them because they look good and sound cool. A lot of folks enjoy them because of the memories they've made in them. And some savvy collectors buy them based on numbers alone. Well, every once in a while a car like this awesome 1969 Trans Am comes along and presents the rare opportunity to bundle all of those attractive traits into one exceptionally cool package. It's a Pontiac, so it automatically looks good and sounds cool. Since it's some of the most storied American muscle ever built, I'm willing to bet everyone has at least one great memory of the car. And, as a documented classic that's 1 of only 689 produced, 1 of only 114 Ram Air III/Turbo-Hydramatic 400 platforms, and 1 of only 29 Ram Air III/Turbo-Hydramatic 400 platforms equipped with factory air conditioning, it definitely has impressive numbers. If you're looking for a fully documented, no excuses muscle car to anchor your high end collection, this rotisserie restored Pontiac is your next #1! Since we're already talking numbers, here's a barrage of castings, stamps and sequences that prove both the authenticity of this Trans Am's assembly and the accuracy of its restoration:ENGINE STAMP - "YW": 335 horsepower, 400 cubic inch Firebird Ram Air III V8 that's equipped with 10.75 to 1 compression, a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission.ENGINE CASTING - 9790071: 335 horsepower, 400 cubic inch V8 that was cast in 1969.ENGINE PARTIAL VIN - 29N110438: 2 = Pontiac, 9 = 1969 model year, N = Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility, 110438 = Last six digits of the car's vehicle identification number.CYLINDER HEAD CASTINGS - 62 : 400 cubic inch V8 that's equipped with one 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor.EXHAUST MANIFOLD CASTINGS - 9779495 (Driver's side): 400 cubic inch Firebird Ram Air engine. 9797073 (Passenger's side): 400 cubic inch Firebird Ram Air engine.CARBURETOR NUMBER - 7029270 XA: 70 = before 1976, 29 = 1969 model year, 2 = 49 state emissions code, 7 = Pontiac division, 0 = automatic transmission, XA = plant code.TRANSMISSION TAG - 69 PQ 1058: 69 = 1969 model year, PQ = 400 cubic inch Ram Air V8 that's equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor, 1058 = transmission VIN.AXLE CODE - 113 ZHZF: Safe -T Track differential that's equipped with 3:23 gears (which were standard on air conditioned cars).COWL TAG- 69: 1969 model year- 22337: 2 = Pontiac, 23 = Firebird, 37 = 2-door sport coupe- NOR: Assembled at GM's Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility- 70355: Fisher Body sequence number- 200: Dark Blue Standard interior trim- 50: Cameo Ivory lower exterior paint- 50: Cameo Ivory upper exterior paint- 08E: Assembled during the fifth (E) week of August (08) Okay, numbers aside, what's the status of this storied Pontiac? And more importantly, how fresh is the car? Well, at the 2007 Pontiac-Oakland meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma it walked away with a Gold Award in the Restored Class, scoring 372 out of a possible 400 points. It's seen fewer than a hundred miles of very careful road time since undergoing a world class restoration. And aesthetically, it looks and feels new in virtually every way. A close inspection reveals creamy Cameo White paint that lies flat and smooth under straight Tyrol Blue stripes and an excellent Tyrol Blue tail panel. Speaking of panels, their fit and finish has been massaged to much higher tolerances than any of the good folks at Norwood would've ever dreamed. And overall, this is one very clean muscle car! Originally envisioned as an engineering piece that would show the world what Pontiac could do on the race track, the 1969 Trans Am was basically an engine and appearance package by the time it made the leap from concept to production. Much of Pontiac's top brass openly derided the car because they felt the GTO Judge was a better answer to the same question and the 1970 Trans Am, which was said to be a whole new league of pony car, was just around the corner. Little did those folks know that 60s Pontiac folklore would combine with the limited sales of the '69 model to kick start a legacy of visual excitement that would last over three decades! At the front of this pristine 'bird, a new for '69 Endura nose hangs Trans Am-specific grilles, which are complete with a silver arrowhead and a white inlayed "PONTIAC" script, between four T3 headlights. Below those headlights, the car's sculpted front valence perfectly aligns ornate parking lights above a Trans Am specific chin spoiler. And above those headlights, the car's imposing hood props "RAM AIR" branded scoops in front of satin stainless wipers. At the sides of the car, expressive 'coke bottle' character lines are highlighted by a standard chrome mirror, dent-free stainless body moldings and traditional GM door handles. Between those bolt-ons, small "TRANS AM" call-outs combine with Trans Am-specific air extractors and highly detailed Firebird marker lights to add just the right amount of texture to glossy white paint. At the top of the car, like-new glass is framed by straight stainless trim and fresh chrome drip rails. And at the back of the car, a Trans Am-specific decklid spoiler props a large horizontal "TRANS AM" call-out above clear, pyramid-style tail lights, highly detailed Firebird and "PONTIAC" emblems and a great looking, body-width chrome bumper. Under this Trans Am's sculpted steel hood you'll find a fully rebuilt motor that starts quick, runs perfectly and produces the kind of confident roar that old school Pontiacs are known for! At the top of the car's clean block, a fully functional induction system feeds roughly 50 degree air into a correct Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Below that carburetor, a correct intake and original cylinder heads force high octane combustion through original long branch exhaust manifolds. Heat from that combustion is controlled by a leak-free radiator which is hooked to reproduction GM hoses, reproduction tower clamps and an original plastic fan shroud that features a correct grease mark. The block itself displays a slick coat of correct Turquoise paint from its intake all the way to its oil pan. The car's fenders, firewall and hood are covered in a smooth coat of GM satin black. Niceties such as fresh chrome valve covers, a correct AC compressor, a reproduction Delco Energizer battery, a fresh brake booster and a full set of decals can be found in all the right places. And aesthetically, this F1's highly detailed engine bay is 100% ready for show! Take a look at the bottom of this Pontiac and you'll find an immaculately restored undercarriage with rock solid satin black floor pans. Behind the high revving motor, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed sends power to an original 10 bolt rear end that's equipped with a correct Safe-T-Track differential and correct 3.23 gears. That solid drivetrain is centered on the car's original double A-arm front and rear leaf spring suspension. At the head of that suspension, factory power steering provides easy turns and competent handling. At the corners of that suspension, standard power front disc and rear drum brakes provide modern stopping power. And at the back of that suspension, a fresh stainless fuel tank sends go juice through new stainless fuel lines. Naturally, all the car's hardware and bushings appear to be in like-new condition. There's a stainless, factory replacement exhaust system that employs all the right components and makes all the right sounds. And power meets the pavement through original 14 inch GM Rally II wheels which spin familiar Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 white letter tires around pristine stainless trim rings and awesome "PMD" branded center caps. Pop this Trans Am's solid white doors and you'll find a correct GM code 200 blue vinyl interior that's been brought back to life with a series of high quality reproduction pieces. The plush bucket seats, which were rebuilt and re-covered during the restoration, provide comfortably firm support and display no fading or tears. Below those seats, new blue carpet shows minimal wear and has likely been carefully protected by fresh arrowhead branded floor mats since it was installed. Above those seats, a stain-free headliner stretches tightly from the car's new A-pillar trim to its fresh sail panels. Between those seats, a familiar F-Body console still features its factory optioned 'wood' trim. At the front of the car, a clean dash makes room for the speedometer as well the inclusive gas, temperature, oil and generator gauges. To the right of those gauges, controls for the car's factory heat and air conditioning ride above a correct Delco radio. At the sides of the car, original one-piece door panels anchor well-maintained armrests between complete stainless trim and chrome handles for the doors and windows. In front of the driver, a familiar Sport steering wheel spins a wood rim and three satin finished spokes around a vivid "PMD" branded horn button. And behind the cockpit, the car's fully restored trunk props a correct spare tire and a correct jack assembly on a traditional houndstooth mat. The sale of this storied Tin Indian includes some original dealer marketing materials, an original owner's manual, the car's original warranty paperwork, pictures and talking points from the car's world class restoration, a full Pontiac Historic Services packet, Pontiac-Oakland judging sheets and, of course, the car's coveted Pontiac-Oakland Gold Award. Even though it's incredibly well-sorted, this first generation Trans Am is a true too-nice-to-drive car. From its silky white surfaces draped with slick blue stripes to its fantastic, as-new trim, this Pontiac exceeds all expectations.
