EXTREMELY RARE, 1988 PONTIAC FIERO GT WITH T-TOPS, AUTOMATIC, ONLY 50,198 MILES, AMAZING CONDITION, READY TO SHOW AND GO!!! 1 OF 614 FACTORY T-TOP FIERO GT'S EVER PRODUCED!!! This is truly one of those unique opportunities to buy a collectible sports car that was ordered loaded up with rare options and has truly been pampered and extremely well maintained throughout its life. Hard to believe this car is now 29 years old! The body is in fantastic condition and was never in any accidents nor shows any rust anywhere. The original red paint still shines beautifully. Upon close inspection you will find a few very tiny rock chips along the front bumper but this is the original factory paint. I point out these minor flaws to let you know it is not absolutely flawless but I am confident the next lucky owner will be thrilled with its original condition. All of the original VIN stickers are present on all body panels. Pop-up headlights function perfectly. The body style on the Fiero GT is really quite sleek and this Red beauty attracts attention wherever it goes. Of the 6848 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT's produced, only 614 had the Factory T-Top option ordered and this is one of those rare optioned cars. This can be verified on the production sticker that shows the CJ8 Code that indicates this was one of the cars that GM sent to Cars and Concepts (C&C) to have the T-Tops installed before it was then shipped out to the dealer. The T-Tops are in great condition and come with the original T-Top cover bags. They fit snug and and tight and do not leak. It almost smells new! The tan cloth seats compliment the red exterior beautifully and are in amazing condition with no signs of wear. Dash looks perfect, center console looks new, carpeting looks great and original floor mats still look good. Power windows and power mirrors function properly. The original steering wheel and shifter show no wear which is amazing. All of the gauges and lights appear to be working correctly and the A/C blows nice and cold. This GT was ordered with all options including the power mirrors, windows, and cruise control and the only option not on the vehicle is a rear window defogger. It also has the very rare Performance Factory Sound Option with sub woofer. All of the speakers except the sub were replaced by me and the system looks original and sounds great. Overall the interior is simply show ready awesome! The Fiero's mid engine layout was chosen as a way to reduce aerodynamic drag and vehicle weight to improve fuel efficiency and for its handling, traction and braking benefits. The 1988 GT model is considered the most desired for many reasons. Numerous changes were made to the 1988 Fiero with the most significant one being a completely redesigned suspension to realize the full potential of the mid-engine layout. This new suspension included new two piece brake calipers and upgraded rotors. The GT model included the V6 motor with 43 horsepower more than the 4 cylinder, upgraded suspension and wider tires. Topping off the package was the new vented disc brake set up on all 4 corners. During the final year of production the Pontiac, MI plant where the Fiero was produced was shut down and Pontiac made the decision to cease production in February, 1988. There were only a total of 6849 Fiero GT's produced in this final year. Research shows there were some interesting comparisons of the Fiero GT to the Ferrari 308 and performance statistics would surprise the heck out of you on the Fiero. It is known that Pontiac purchased several Ferrari 308's for handling and engineering and comparison purposes. Some called the Fiero the mini Ferrari that was far more affordable. The original gold wheels are in excellent condition. Front trunk area looks like it did in 1988 and the engine bay and trunk are extremely nice and near perfect. The only two things not stock on this car (having been replaced by the previous owner) are the rear view mirror and radio. The original cassette was replaced by a factory Pontiac CD unit which matches perfectly and only an expert would know it is an upgrade. The rear view mirror was replaced with an auto dimming compass Pontiac model and again looks perfectly stock. This car is a fully loaded great example of this fine collectable mid engine American made machine. Deposit required within 48 hours of purchase. Not only does this one have a powerful 327 ci V8, but also a custom interior and exterior. So now you can have a very unique build that fits into any budget. There aren't many better colors on a mid-engine sports car than bright red, and the Fiero GT wears it quite well. In fact, Fieros have often been harvested to create replicas of exotic Italian cars, so it's nice to see one transformed into an exotic American. Because this Fiero GT is special, it has some standout features like the new front end with a more intricate design. It also looks more modern with the flip up headlights switched to narrow units behind flush-mounted glass (even the Lamborghini Diablo did that later in its life!) The ground effects, bold rear wing, and dual exhaust have a great custom look, but they were all actually direct from the factory. It's capped off with a nice set of Ruff Racing five-star wheels. Unlike the mid-engine European cars, the Fiero's design does not sacrifice interior space. This is thanks to a very upright design that gives you a very airy feeling. The tan leather seats are exceptionally comfortable because they are buckets borrowed from a C4 Corvette. It has the same tone of other tan interior elements such as the center console, carpets, door panels, and dash. This Fiero was built with plenty of comfort features such as air conditioning, power windows, and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo system. The driver gets a wood and leather three spoke steering wheel, and beyond that is a gauge package that includes a new Bosch tachometer with a redline that reflects the new motor. Many believed the Fiero could have handled a much larger powerplant than what went in at the factory. But what GM didn't accomplish, a few independent spirits did. So this Fiero GT is quite special with a 327 cubic-inch V8 motor in the original rear engine bay. This was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago, and is reported to produce around 350 hp. But more than just powerful, this small block is reliable with a new water pump and alternator installed in the last few months. The added power is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. So now this is a well-balanced mid-engine machine with plenty of power on tap, that also has a fully independent suspension, the Fiero's legendary lively steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and low-profile Falken Ziex tires. This is an interesting build that showcases the potential we all knew the Fiero had. Best of all this custom build easily fits into a budget. 1984 Pontiac Fiero 2M4 base model with manual shift (four-speed). Factory options include air conditioning, cruise control, and alloy wheels. The original AM/FM cassette player has been replaced with a later Pontiac AM/FM/CD unit that uses the original wiring harness, fits without modification in the original radio location, retains the original dash trim, and plays properly through the headrest speakers. Only a Fiero expert would know that it is a later unit as it looks original. The original AM/FM radio cassette plus an extra 1984 Fiero AM/FM radio are included in the sale should the new owner wish to convert back to an original unit. All three units use the same wiring and connectors. Everything works on the car including the pop-up headlights, windshield wipers, air conditioning, etc. The air conditioning system was professionally converted to the newer type refrigerant shortly after I purchased the car and it has operated properly since without any issues. This is my third Fiero -- I owned two others back in the late 1980's and early 1990's -- so I knew what I was looking for when I purchased this one. The tires show almost no wear they are the correct size and type but not original they were installed before the car was sold to me. The spare has never been on the ground nor has the factory jack in the front storage compartment ever been used as far as I can see. Here is what I know about the history of this car. It was delivered new in February 1984 in Ohio and was driven as a second car by its original owner. It was then stored inside for a time and later found its way into a Fiero collection. It then passed to a dealer in specialty cars. During this time it never left Ohio. After considerable Fiero shopping, I purchased the car in February 2009 due to its low mileage and outstanding paint and interior and had it shipped to Virginia. Early in my ownership, the front brakes (rotors and pads) were redone, the air conditioning was professionally converted, and the headliner and sun visors were professionally replaced in the original color and material as the original headliner had begun to sag as is common on GM cars of this period. The headliner and sun visors are indistinguishable from the original. This was the only "major" work required. The usual servicing of the car has been ongoing and all tune-up items (plugs, ignition wires, filters, etc.) have been replaced. Other than the headliner and sun visors, the interior is original and shows only minimal wear. The paint is excellent and also shows only minimal wear. While I can not verify this, I believe that the car has had one repaint in the original color but I cannot find any evidence of it having been repainted as there is no over-spray anywhere on the car and the decals and emblems are all present and correct. Since it was purchased by me in 2009, it has been registered on Virginia antique plates and used only for club events, tours, and shows. It shows nicely and has received trophies in several judged shows. It does not need anything done to it to be enjoyed or shown. In addition to the two extra factory radio units, the original owners manuals and literature and a factory service manual are included with the car. My understanding is that the car has always been garaged or kept inside. I keep it in my garage with my other hobby cars. When inside for any period it is kept covered with a California Car Cover Company custom car cover that is also included in the sale. The luggage set shown in the picture is included with the sale. The luggage was purchased specifically for the car, looks right, and fits perfectly in the luggage area but is not an "official" Pontiac accessory. The center piece includes emergency items such as new hoses, belts, etc. and will be included in the sale. This is a chance to acquire an outstanding first year Fiero in ready to show and enjoy condition. It will be hard to find one nicer. You could not restore one in need of work for anywhere near the price. It took me a while to find this car when I bought it over six years ago -- but it is now time to move on -- as I need the garage space for another vehicle. The car is available for inspection and to be test driven by interested parties and anyone interested in the car is urged to come see and drive it if at all possible. The car is for sale locally and through other listing services and seller reserves the right to end this listing should the car be otherwise sold. Greetings to All!! imotors is quite pleased to offer possibly the nicest 1984 Fiero Available anywhere! 1984 was the first Fiero built, and production lasted only 5 short years with about 370,000 made. All 1984 models were fitted with the Iron Duke 4 cylinder engine. Ours could possibly be the only one in existence with a V6, which was introduced in 1985. It was supposed to be Pontiac's answer to a small economy car, and had an EPA of 40 MPG with a manual transmission!!! It later turned into a fun Mid-Engined Sports Car to include a stylish GT Fastback! Our Gorgeous Fiero coupe presented here was just locally traded to a friend of ours! It has been lovingly restored and cared for since 2009 by the same fellow. He had the entire car repainted, and mechanically sorted to include the change from 4 to 6 cylinder!! As recently as April of 2015, it was freshly safety inspected to include fresh rear pads, rotors, and calipers, and a 4 wheel alignment. In March 2013 the A/C compressor was replaced, along with all Fuel Injectors. In February of 2012 it was treated to all engine and transmission mounts, along with a new steering rack, and stabilizer, new deck lid struts, and of course, a complete engine tune up. In March of 2012, all 4 aluminum wheels were restored!! The tires were new in May of 2009 with 41,790 miles. At this time all fluids were flushed(BG Trans and fresh Brake Fluid!), and new brake cables were fitted, along with new front shocks! I have a nice little 1986 Fiero for sale. It has the 2.8 V6 with an automatic transmission. I had been looking for a V6 Fiero for ever! Every time I saw one sitting I would stop to check it out. They were all the 2M4 2.5 L 4 cylinder cars. I had one and much prefer the V6! I bought it from an auto shop in Santa Barbara California. It has been in SB all of it's life. It runs and drives. The engine has a noise in it that sounds like a rod knock. The guy at the shop said that they think it is a stuck injector. I am not enough of a mechanic to be able to tell. It starts right up and sounds good. When I rev it I can hear the knock but it does not seem to be at crankshaft speed. It does not smoke. It seems to have good compression. I took a picture of the gauges with it running and you can see the oil pressure is good. I have driven it up and down the street where I live. The trans shifts well and the steering and brakes are fine. The cruise control works . The windows both work well . The sunroof does not leak. The interior is real decent. The driver's seat has a couple of tears. See pics. The A/C is intact but needs to be charged. I was going to add Freon but it is an R-12 system and I only have R-134. The tires are not too bad and have a lot of tread left. The mechanic said that they just installed a new computer and did a tune up. There is some paperwork for an after market suspension upgrade in the box of extra goodies that come with the car. I do not know enough about it to determine if it has been installed. I just kind of laid the brand new bra on the front to take the picture. I do not think it has ever been installed. It has the Fiero insignia on it. The body panels are all good. No cracking or broken pieces anywhere. The Fiero is still wearing the factory paint job. The clear coat is failing in spots. I have the California title from the seller. I have not transferred it to my name. He told me that there are back fees. I do not know how much they are. If it is registered outside of California they will be deleted. There is a California DMV rule to remove back fees from antique, classic and special interest cars that I have used on other vehicles too. I am sure that the spare tire and jack etc. have never been removed. they are intact and the trunk area looks almost as new! I live in Southern California about 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I have a car trailer and can deliver it, up to 200 miles or so, after it is paid for. My 1986 Pontiac Fiero for sale. In New England these are very hard to come by especially in this condition. Car is in great physical shape inside and out. The only blemish on the outside is a few spots of peeling paint around the sunroof which is typical with these cars. Rest of the paint is great. Car has been meticulously maintained and only driven in the summer. A new remanufactured 2.8 liter engine was installed 3 years ago and has maybe 15,000 miles on it. Frame is in spectacular shape as are all the body panels. In addition to the engine I also replaced the exhaust, water pump, computer, headlight motors and a lot of the interior switches and headliner. All electricals and gauges work.
