He rented a three hundred square-foot office in the old Merriam, Kansas Gas building, which he shared with two other businesses. Josh, with the little money saved from buying and selling cars out of the paper, purchased vehicles out of the Autotrader magazine and the Kansas City Star. He then reconditioned them on his own and made sure the few cars he had in inventory were in prime shape. Trying to invent different marketing methods, Josh wanted a bigger presence in Kansas City with his 9-12 car inventory. He began having friends shoot photos of him waiving in front of his vehicles. Being that Autotrader magazine was the prime place to sell cars, with Josh waving in the photos, he was sure to stand out. In 1986 John Zaslavsky, a local small business owner who ran a shoe repair shop two blocks down the road came shopping for a car not knowing what he would find. Josh and John’s friendship began that day. Realizing each others' passion for cars, John began assisting Josh with buying and selling cars. Eventually with the growth of their business, the two formalized their partnership and John sold his formal shoe repair business. Very quickly, John and Josh learned that the tool necessary for becoming successful in the car business was a steady and reliable source for purchasing vehicles. The days of combing the classifieds had to go in order to grow. With the introduction of cell phones in the mid 80s, John had the idea of purchasing ten cell phones and passing them out to local new car managers at new car dealerships. He told them, “When you're trading for a car, page me, and I’ll bid it for you, then come buy it.” This new method appealed to the new car stores because previously, the only choice was to take their trades to the auction and risk loosing money on a weekly basis. Johns phone began ringing so much that less than a month later, he purchased a second phone to carry on him at all times. Now with an ever-growing and steady source for purchasing vehicles, Josh and John's business steadily grew from a 9-12 car inventory to over two hundred, forcing them to expand. In the mid 90’s, John’s brother and son began working as sales people, bringing new energy and ideas accelerating the companies growth. Today the two run the day to day operation of the company with John continuing to buy cars as he did in the 80’s but on a larger scale, and Josh continuing to inspect and work with vehicles to insure a quality product. Autocheck Report: 7. Our company runs an Autocheck Vehicle History Report for every vehicle we sell. If the reports is important to you and it is not linked to or included in our listing feel free to ask. We will gladly furnish you with a free copy via fax or email. We do not guarantee the accuracy of vehicle history reports. Any reference, copy or link to a vehicle history report furnished by us is based upon the report we received when we purchased that particular vehicle. It is possible for subsequent reports to contain new or conflicting information due to errors or additional information being added to reports. Information contained in vehicle history reports can be erroneous. Vehicle history reports can be misleading. Internet vehicle history reports are not a substitute for a professional inspection. We encourage buyers to confirm vehicle history reports through their own independent inspection. Deposits: 8. Due to the fact that we often have multiple prospective buyers for the same vehicle, Fairland MV Leasing, Corp will not hold a vehicle without a non-refundable deposit and a signed bill of sale. Without this deposit, all vehicles will remain advertised, listed and available for sale. Warranty: 9. All vehicles is being sold as-is, Where-is with no warranty expressed, written or implied however many of our vehicles come with NIADA CPO WARRANTY (in which we mention it in our ad) or some of our vehicle come with the balance of the factory warranty. Please call your local franchise dealership with the VIN # of the vehicle and confirm warranty coverage details and expiration dates. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle and to have satisfied him self or her self as to the condition and value and to bid or purchase upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer’s request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of oral statements about the vehicle. Licensed, Bonded and Insured 10. Fairland MV Leasing, Corp is a Florida licensed, bonded and insured automobile dealership. It is imperative that you protect yourself and only buy from a licensed dealer to have the protection and recourse you may need. Buying through a licensed dealer gives you as a consumer certain rights and ensures your protection from title fraud and other problems encountered in private party automotive transactions. Sales Tax, DMV and Documentation (Dealer) Fees. 11. Florida residents are required to pay state sales tax, title transfer fees, registration fees, and license plate fees. Dealers are required by law to collect these fees and process all of this paperwork at the DMV for the buyer. All of these fees are regulated by the state. Non-Florida residents are to pay their state’s sales tax to the state of Florida if they are not shipping the vehicle. Florida law requires that we collect sales tax from any person buying a car and driving it through the state of Florida. Most states allow a tax credit and you won’t pay the tax again in your own state. There are a few exceptions so if you have questions about your state’s policies please contact us and we will be glad to get you that information. If you are having the vehicle shipped, your state sales tax, title transfer fees, registration fees, and license plate fees are to be paid by you in your state. We do not have to collect Sales Tax and DMV fees for cars being shipped out of the state of Florida. The documentation (dealer/ admin) fee for retail sales at Fairland MV Leasing Corp is $280 per vehicle. Pick-up: 12. If you want to come to pick up the vehicle we will meet you at Fort Lauderdale airport or nearby train station (Amtrack Deerfield Beach Station or Tri County Pompano Beach Station) or bus station.
