In 1989 the 944S2 was introduced, powered by a normally aspirated, dual-overhead-cam 16-valve 3.0L version of the 944S engine. The 944S2 also received a revised transmission and gearing to better suit the 3.0-liter M44/41 power plant. The 944S2 had the same rounded nose and a rear valance found on the Turbo model. This was the first example of the use of an integrated front bumper, where the fender and hood profiles would merge smoothly with the bumper, a design feature that has only now seen widespread adoption on the 1990 onward production cars. Performance was quoted as 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds, with a top speed of 150 mph via manual transmission. This was an extremely rare production car for Porsche and the S2 Cabriolet was only made 1989-1991 in very low numbers. This beautiful example has only 46,325 original miles and has been fully serviced, including the major timing belt service, just over 100 miles ago. We have also repainted the car in base/ clear coat the original silver because fading had occurred due to the age of the car even though the car has been garaged during its life. The leather is in excellent condition, as are the carpets, dash, and glass. The stayfast canvas top is also new. New Michelin tires have been installed all around. You will really enjoy the driving experience in this Porsche. The wide rear end, the fantastic power, and the last series of rear wheel drive turbos. The last of the single turbo cars with a re-vamped (from the 930) 3.3L engine that produces a massive 315hp. The paint is absolutely superb. A complete bare metal respray using Glasurit high solid paint, this is arguably the best paint on the market. It is flawless. This Turbo was completely gone through from top to bottom and everything was addressed and replaced as needed. Both cosmetically and mechanically. There was over $10,000 spent (in our cost) on this car. It is need of nothing but a driver. There have been some tasteful modifications as well. An aftermarket radio receiver, 18" OZ wheels, and a larger turbocharger were added. Nothing irreversible. It has a clean vehicle history and we have a Carfax waiting for your inspection. All air cooled Porsches have been rising quickly in value, and the Turbo cars seem to have no end in sight to high they will go. They are getting harder to find on the open market, and they aren't making anymore of them. Everything about this 964 Turbo is fantastic. With collectors and enthusiasts alike both pulling these from the open market in a frenzy, the smart money will tell you not to wait. 1989 marked the last year for the G bodied 911 cars, and also the last year for the inviolable 3.2L flat 6 engine. This is also a G50 transmission car. Only 1987-89 G Body 911 cars came equipped with this remarkable transmission. Classic good looks in a classic color combination add to the desire for this cabriolet. A complete top quality respray was completed in 2008 by a well known body shop that specializes in Porsche and other high end vehicles. We have a full documented history on this car, dating back to March 1989. We have many detailed records including an engine rebuild at 95,000 miles. This was a european delivery unit and was owned and pampered by the same owner from new until 2007. It was then purchased by another Porsche enthusiast locally here in North Carolina. This is a two owner fully documented 911 Carrera Cabriolet. It is dry underneath and in proper running order. Before offering it for sale, we had a complete service and inspection performed. The A/C compressor was replaced and A/C system was serviced, a new heater blower motor, and various seals were replaced. All fluids were inspected and replaced as needed, as well as filters.
