Legal for sale in Canada! This Cobra is a professionally built turn-key replica (ERA #430) of a 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. Built by renowned engineer and motorsports expert Dan Fodge in Rancho Cordova, CA. This award wining replica is the appropriate international American racing colors, blue and white. It is true to all original Cobra specifications with the exception of specific items where safety and performance were priorities. It is well known that ERA Cobras are in demand over other replica brands because of their exceptional quality. You can see this exceptional Cobra at www.eracobraforsale.com - Engine is a bored and stroked to 6.0 L heavy duty 351 Ford Racing/SVO Windsor block with 4-Bolt Mains and every other part being completely special purpose-built for high performance and durability. It has a Steel Billet crankshaft and all of the pistons, rods, camshaft, lifters, push-rods, valves, aluminum heads, etc., etc., are all the best available. It has the latest Holly Racing carburetor that is basically a special "racing" version of their 750cfm but with enhanced performance and airflow. The complete ignition system is top notch with all Mallory & MSD parts. The investment in this engine/transmission alone is around $25,000. Horsepower is approximately 500hp. Equipped with a remote oil filter as well as an appropriate oil cooler. The engine is equipped with a 450-Shot Sportsman Fogger Nitrous system (wet system, port injection) that was installed just for the WOW factor and has never been used while driving, only to tune the system. By using smaller jets in the injectors for the Nitrous system the current available Horsepower is limited to only an additional 150 but if anybody is crazy enough to drive a 2200lb car with 950hp, then this can be easily done. The car will take it. All of the critical hoses and even some not so critical are aircraft quality stainless-steel braided hose, with Earl’s fittings, not just look-alikes. Headers and side-pipes are Jet Hot coated inside and out. ENGINE SPECS: 351 HD Ford Racing/SVO Windsor block w/4-bolt mains, bored & stroked to 6.0L. Line bored, balanced/blueprinted. More HP than a overweight big block.Complete Crane valve-train - camshaft, hydraulic roller lifters, push-rods, springs & keepers, roller rocker armsDart Aluminum Heads - ported/polished/cc’ed complete race valve jobCrower Lower End - Steel billet crankshaft and Crower’s billet I-beam rodsCanton dual sump pan w/ dual pickupsMcLeod Racing - bell housing, flywheel, complete race clutch assembly, hydraulic actuator, throw-out & pilot bearingsMcLeod Racing - High Performance Heavy Duty StarterMallory electronic & MSD ignitionHigh performance water pumpCustom mounted 427-like manifold-mounted chrome remote radiator tankPolished Weiand port-matched intake manifold with Holly 750 race carburetorRemote oil filter in series with correct oil coolerAll braided stainless steel best-quality hoses and Earl’s connectorsEngine is equipped with a 450-shot Pro-Fogger NOS direct port wet system. Complete professional installation that has been de-tuned by using smaller jets at each port to provide only 150hp increase. The larger jets (included) along with proper adjustment of the fuel regulator will allow for as much as a 450hp increase over the normally aspirated induction. All documentation is included. The system has only been run once in the shop, not on the road, to do the initial tune. - In the spirit of using better parts where performance is concerned, the car is equipped with a Tremec 5-speed transmission (with a modified original shifter) which is infinitely better than the old Ford Toploader that Shelby used. Fifth gear is a .80 overdrive which keeps RPMs low on the highways which provides remarkably good gas mileage. In addition to front mounted original replacement cooling fans, the correctly slanted radiator (unlike many other replicas) has a 16" radiator-mounted pull-through fan that further improves cooling. The top of the line Optima RedTop Gel-Cell battery is mounted on the shelf in the trunk on the passenger side for better balance. - Frame, Body (exact replica in fiberglass) and Suspension are from ERA, the best reproduction parts provider, period. I have personally met and spoken frequently to Peter, the president of the company, and they have been the best at answering any questions and providing any help required. Other parts are from Cobra Restorers, and are exact replacements for the original car. The chrome oval front grill piece is removable if desired. The ERA frame is noted for being much stiffer than other replica Cobras. The as-original aluminum hood scoop is not molded into the hood but properly mounted, not with pop-rivets. The car was assembled properly by a professional racing engineer & motorsports expert. - The suspension is comprised of dual A-Frames in the front with Alden Aluminum chromed coil-over shocks and a substantial anti-sway bar. The rear is equipped with two Alden Aluminum chromed coil-over shocks at each wheel and has a full independent suspension with special super-duty half-shafts, sway bar and inboard rear brakes. The Center Section of the rear end is a Salisbury posi-traction unit as original, but equipped with Richmond Gears for strength and durability. The trailing arms and hub mounts are custom made. Wheels are 6-Pin-drive with original real knock-off hubs. The car weighs 2200 lbs. and with this suspension system and the lighter engine it handles much better than an original Cobra. - Front brakes were replaced after the initial build with 4-piston Sierra calipers and 13" discs. The same that many race cars use. In order to accommodate the much larger brakes, the original wheels were replaced with exact copies but manufactured as a true 17" wheel to both accommodate the larger brakes AND to take advantage of more modern tires to both improve safety and performance. Front tires are 275/45-17s and the rears are 315/35-17s. This combination provides the same tire diameter front and rear but provides a much wider tire at the rear to improve acceleration traction. Rear tires are 13" wide where the fronts are 10". This car rides and handles exceptionally well. - Even little things like the Headlights; lead crystal lenses with high intensity halogen bulbs! The steering wheel is an original item with the Shelby touch of one/half the number of rivets holding the real wood to the aluminum wheel. Seats are real leather. The driver’s seat, which is mounted on adjustable rails at first glance appears to be original, is custom made with extra bolsters to provide more comfort, back support and help hold the driver in place along with the 5-point Simpson harnesses. It has all of the hardware to accommodate an original soft top & side curtains and already has the appropriate tonneau cover. Original driver’s seat is included. Custom fitted full car cover included. - Overall investment in the car to date is $105,000. The original build was $95K and over the years there have been upgrades. Will accept reasonable offers that still reflect/recognize the quality of this car as compared to other replicas. - Credentials: Won 9 trophies for Best-in-Class at regional car shows and 2 Overall Peoples’ Choice awards at two major shows. Also won First runner-up twice in the Sports Car division (350 cars) at one of the nation’s top car shows, Hot August Nights in Reno. - The most frequent question I get asked, after this car has been viewed by 1,000s of people, is an enthusiastic: "Is this a REAL Cobra?". I always feel bad when I have to disappoint them and tell them it is a replica. Park this car next to any available replica and it is clear why folks think it is a "REAL Cobra". Check out the full description at eracobraforsale.com which links back to this listing. More info and Video available on site. First time this ERA#430 has been offered for sale. Professionally built in 1995. Registered and Insured in the State of Nevada. Owner has clear title in possession as well as the official DMV paperwork of the registration history. SHELBY COBRA 427 S/C ERA Replica #227 $62,000 Troy Kruger 763-545-2232 [email protected] Offered here is a beautiful ERA built 427 Cobra. ERA Replicas have been producing the finest fiberglass Cobra replicas since the early 80s and are still in business today. You will be hard pressed to find a more accurate and well built Shelby Cobra anywhere. Please do your research diligently and you will come to the same conclusion. These fine cars don't come up for sale often, so here is your chance to save 10s of thousands over new. Not only will you not have to wait over a year for your car to be built, but this car is also eligible for international export as it is 25 years old. Unlike many so called "kit" cars that are built with inferior parts by unqualified owner/builders, this ERA was factory built with all new parts in the USA as a full roller. The original engine and transmission has been replaced 4,000 miles ago with a new Keith Craft 482 FE and David Kee Toploader transmission. Do your research and you will learn these guys are the best in the business. The paint is breath taking, and the leather interior with light patina is simply beautiful while being painstakingly accurate to the original. You can buy this Cobra with confidence as the power train has only 4,000 approximate miles on it, and the car itself has only about 11,000 miles. Replicating this car with similar options and power train will cost you over $90,000 in a new ERA, so this Cobra represents a wonderful value in today's rising Cobra economy. Cobra Chassis Instruction Book, Shelby factory invoice, and period brochures. Comes with original tools, tool bag, jack, soft top, side curtains, and tonneau cover While working as an aerospace engineer at Douglas Aircraft in 1964, John Hector began his search for a Cobra. He had driven a classmate's Cobra after college and had become entranced by the prospect of owning one himself. He inquired after a few used cars, until he came upon a new 289 Cobra in Utah. Walter Larson Ford in Murray, Utah was anxious to move their Cobra before winter set in, so a deal was struck and on December 23, 1964 Hector boarded a plane and set off for Utah to collect his car. The original sticker price was $6465, and the final sale price was only $5299. Quite the deal indeed. Unfortunately they had not beaten the onset of winter in Utah, and snow had started to fall. So Hector did what any young American would do with a new Cobra in the snow, he fitted a set of rear winter tires and began the 800 mile drive over the mountains to his parents' house in Portland Oregon. He was turned back at the Cascade Mountains because he had inadvertently planned his trip during what would become known as the "The Christmas Flood of 1964", the worst storm the Northwest had seen in recorded history. Thankfully Hector and the Cobra survived the journey, and they made it to Portland on Christmas Day. Hector would bring the Cobra home to Anaheim, California, and would go on to use the car as his daily driver for the next two years. During that time he would compete in a few autocross events in LA, San Diego, and Portland. In 1973 the car would be repainted in its original red. That same year Hector would move to Oregon, and the Cobra would be set aside, and driven infrequently, except for occasional local vintage sports car rallies. CSX 2337 has never been in an accident, and the aluminum body remains completely original. The engine, transmission, and rear end are original to the car. Even the original spare tire, which has never been used, is included with the car. Need proof? Check out all those dual-quad Impalas and Sting Ray roadsters that routinely pull 6-figure prices simply because they exist. That begs the question: how do you get breakneck performance that's wrapped in a jaw-dropping shell without draining your kid's college fund? Well, you take a serious look at a gem like this fantastic Backdraft Racing Cobra! A modern spin on a timeless sports car, this roadster mixes 427 cubic inches of Roush Performance stroker with a tough Tremec 5-speed, BMW suspension components and crowd-pleasing aesthetics. If you're in the market for a storied classic that's destined to lead the pack, you've found your pride and joy! BODYWORK/TRIM From inception, Backdraft cars are turnkey products developed and engineered to mimic the vintage appeal of authentic aluminum Cobras while handily out-performing pretty much anything on the street. The assembly of this roadster's professionally finished body began with a steel-lined GRP molding that was hand-tweaked and gel coated on a full-size rotisserie rack. Once that coating was complete, the newly formed fuselage was smoothed by a seasoned fiberglass professional, baked in an even coat of primer and inspected top-to-bottom to ensure first-class quality. When quality control was cleared, clean PPG white was detailed with Indigo Blue stripes, covered in three layers of ChemSpec clear, baked and cured for three days, and finally, flattened and polished to a head-turning shine. And today, this super slick Cobra is a sophisticated build that exhibits twice the style and twice the race-bred DNA of a typical replicar boulevard cruiser. Detailing is crucial on a replica because that's where a lot of cars start to disappoint. Fortunately, you can tell the overall impression of one of these roadsters from about five feet away. And naturally, since were featuring it, this Cobra hits all the right visuals! At the front of the car, a sculpted and re-angled nose hangs chrome-trimmed Hella headlights over mesh grilles, clear, bullet-style parking lamps and polished quick lifts. A sculpted hood anchors a small, ROUSH-branded scoop in front of locking latches and polished windshield wipers. Behind that hood, a tinted windshield hangs a small Backdraft Racing mirror in front of clear wind wings, dark-tint visors, a polished roll bar and a familiar, Monza-style fuel filler. At the sides of the car, polished and shielded exhaust pipes ride below stylish Ford emblems, finned air extractors and 3M quarter guards. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed tail lamps combine with a chrome tag light to illuminate a locking trunk handle and two more polished quick lifts. ENGINE This roadster's signage accurately advertises 427 cubic inches of American muscle. What it fails to convey is: instead of some romantic relic from a bygone era, would-be challengers are facing a fresh Roush Performance 427 R stroker motor that, during its 2010 dyno run, twisted 537 horsepower into 518 lb./ft. of torque! Built from the ground up as your ticket to major acceleration and killer speed, this stout mill is founded on an iron block, a steel crank, a roller cam, H-beam connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons. At the top of the smooth engine, a Roush Cobra Jet-style air cleaner mixes fresh oxygen with 93-octane pump gas that's supplied by braided fluid lines and a large Holley 4-barrel. That carburetor is bolted to an Edelbrock Victor Jr. 351W intake, which rides between aluminum, CNC-ported heads and sequential Roush valve covers. Fire is provided by an MSD Blaster SS coil, which is connected to an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and loomed Roush 9mm plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a screened radiator, which circulates water past a large electric puller fan and polished stainless overflow via polished stainless tubes and a coated pump. Ceramic-coated mild steel headers evacuate spent gases into 304 stainless side-pipes. And at the front of the block, a beefy serpentine system spins billet pulleys in front of a polished Powermaster alternator and polished power steering pump. Aesthetically, the hot engine looks right at home in the car's mirror-like bay. And well-planned details, like a chrome breather, a coated fuel pump and a beefy QuickTime bellhousing, are both functional and appealing. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION When it's time to put your hair in the wind, forget about outdated Toploader 4-speeds because this modern-day Cobra blisters the pavement with a fresh Tremec TKO600 5-speed. That world-class transmission delivers power to a 3.46 limited-slip BMW rear end that creates whiplash-inducing acceleration while still allowing the car to loaf along at highway speeds. That drivetrain, which is bolted to a hot-rolled rectangular steel ladder-type chassis, sends power through the same BMW-sourced MacPherson strut front and fully independent rear suspension that's become a Backdraft hallmark. And thanks to that suspension's adjustable front stabilizer bar, fully adjustable rear ride height and BMW power steering system, you're getting a Cobra that has a performance threshold capable of humiliating much more expensive hardware. Brakes are power-assisted discs at all four corners that, thanks to this car's featherweight construction, are virtually impervious to fade. And there's simply nothing that looks better on a Cobra than a set of Halibrand-style wheels, which spin sticky 245/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1s in front of aggressive 315/35ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1s. INTERIOR Cobra interiors have always been simple, and one look inside this roadster reveals just how serious the car's aspirations are when it comes to being driver-focused. Backdraft Racing buckets stretch tight leather hides between 4-point Crow Enterprizes harnesses. In front of those seats, a leather-wrapped dash founds electric VDO telemetry above metal Backdraft Racing foot pedals. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors hang blue-stitched pulls above small map pockets. Below those doors, clean carpet centers a polished e-brake and polished Backdraft Racing shifter between color-keyed Backdraft Racing floor mats. The driver stays connected to the asphalt thanks to a polished Backdraft Racing wheel, which twists a thick Teak rim. And the passengers' cargo stows in a carpeted trunk that's fitted with an integrated trickle charger. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA Backdraft Racing build bookRoush Performance engine specsAn official Roush Performance dyno sheetA pair of Backdraft Racing fender coversA full tonneau cover There simply aren't that many chances to own a first class sport car especially at this money. And with its euro-spec chassis, modern 5-speed and Roush-designed engine, this Cobra is guaranteed to be a blast to drive. According to this stellar pony car's Deluxe Marti Auto Works Report, it was assembled on May 4th of 1967 in San Jose, California with the following door data and options: DOOR PLATE:67 1967 model year2 289 cubic inch hi-performance V8 with Shelby modifications0 4-speed manual transmission0 Base vehicle (No air conditioning or thermactor)F Fastback9 Candyapple Red paint: Ford #2008-AA Black interior02309 Consecutive Shelby production number OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:Extra Cooling PackageCourtesy Light GroupFold down rear seatPower steeringPower front disc brakesInterior Dcor GroupHeavy duty batteryTachometer and trip odometer Assembled nine days behind schedule, this pristine '67 Shelby GT350 was shipped to Robie Ford in Dorchester, Massachusetts and likely saw very little showroom time before its awesome power and killer style were unleashed on Boston's mean streets. But, as with many cars, this Mustang's northeast christening was only the beginning of its journey, as the next two decades were spent traveling through the dry climates of Arkansas, Texas and Arizona. And at the end of the first muscle car boom, circa 1990, a highly detailed restoration, envisioned by a new sequence of owners, was started but never completed. It wouldn't be until March of 2011 when the car's current owner, an MCA Gold Card judge, would successfully execute a nut and bolt rotisserie rebuild. And that first class rebuild, which stripped and reworked all of the car's panels into a combination of super smooth surfaces and laser straight lines, was constructed of strictly original and NOS pieces. Once those pieces were fully prepped and displayed an excellent level of fit, a correct coat of Ford Candyapple Red basecoat was buried in a thick clearcoat shell. Once that clearcoat was completely dry, correct "G.T.350" stripes were laid over a fantastic, buffer-fresh shine. And the result is one top notch Shelby showpiece that's literally as close to concours perfect as any road-ready car can get. Shelby's GT line threw fuel on the muscle car fire by not only adding power, but also introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang design cues ever created. At the leading edge of this slick GT350, a pristine chrome bumper dissects a correct Shelby grille which hangs familiar FoMoCo driving lights between a fresh "SHELBY G.T. 350" badge, bright halogen headlamps and bullet-style parking lights. At the top of that grille, correct chrome lanyards lead the eye past a lightweight fiberglass hood to like-new glass that's framed by bright stainless trim, spotless stainless wipers and a correct chrome mirror. At the sides of that glass, correct Shelby scoops and correct Shelby fender caps combine with factory fresh Cobra emblems and traditional chrome door handles to provide an aggressive, yet finished appearance. And at the back of the car, a familiar Shelby decklid hangs a second "SHELBY G.T. 350" badge over traditional Shelby tail lights, a handsome Cobra fuel filler, a second chrome bumper, highly detailed reverse lamps and bright stainless exhaust tips. Now that you've waded through all the flowery prose about paint and stainless trim, it's time to get down to business. Lift this Shelby's glossy red hood and you'll find a fresh 289 cubic inch small block V8 that displays a correct C5AE-6015E casting number below an era-correct April (D) 18th (18) of 1967 (7) casting date. Completely rebuilt from its carburetor all the way down to its Ford Blue oil pan, this Mustang's Cobra Hi-Riser motor utilizes a heavy duty crank and rotating assembly, a hot NOS C30Z-6250-C camshaft, solid lifters and a correct C180802107 Paxton supercharger to transform stout 10.5 to 1 compression into an impressive 450 horsepower! At the top of that rugged Windsor block, a rare blower, dated February 10th, of 1967, jams oxygen into a big 4-barrel carburetor that's bolted to a correct S7MS-9424A hi-riser intake. At the sides of that intake, high performance heads, which were cast on February (B) 3rd (3) of 1967 (7), hang attractive Cobra crinkle-finish valve covers between a chrome Ford breather and date-correct exhaust manifolds that wear C7ZE-9431-A left, and C7ZE-9430-A right, casting numbers. The engine's fires are lit by an authentic dual-point distributor, fresh black plug wires and NOS BF32 Autolite spark plugs. Cooling for those fires is provided by an original radiator, dated from April of 1967, which sends water past a unique pulley fan via fresh FoMoCo hoses, reproduction tower clamps and reproduction screw clamps. Pressure for that radiator comes courtesy of new V-belts which spin a correct C60-F-A water pump between a rebuilt Autolite alternator and an era-correct power steering pump. And the whole process is kicked into motion by a reproduction Autolite Sta-Ful battery that jolts current through snazzy Autolite cables. Aesthetically, this Mustang's exceptionally detailed engine bay appears very close to original and features an even combination of satin black and Ford Blue paint under correct Ford decals. And everything, from the car's March of 67 (7) harmonic balancer to its April (4) of 1967 (7) C50E-6059-A front engine cover, is fully-sorted and absolutely spotless. Take one look under this awesome GT350 and you'll find exceptionally clean, expertly detailed floors that are every bit as solid as the car's straight exterior panels. Behind Ford's legendary V8 an original close-ratio Toploader 4-speed, which is branded with a Mustang-exclusive RUG-N1 build stamp, spins a correct open differential between tall 3.89 gears, original axles and an April (D) 10th (10) of 1967 (7) casting date. At the front of the car, rebuilt torsion bars hang a correct sway bar and factory power steering between fresh calipers and NOS rotors. At the back of the car, rebuilt leaf springs hang Shelby-exclusive 2.5 inch FoMoCo brake drums at the edges of a new stainless fuel tank. In the middle of the car, an aluminized true dual exhaust system funnels spent gases through a traditional H-pipe crossover, original-style exhaust clamps, long resonators and a reproduction transverse muffler that's complete with correct stampings. At the edges of the car, Ol' Shel's power flows to the pavement through correct E70-15 Goodyear Speedway rollers that are wrapped around razor-sharp Magstar wheels. And everything from this Ford's oxide-primered floors to its correct transmission crossmember, dated April (4) 21st (21) of 1967 (7), looks better than the day the car rolled out of the factory. Inside this killer pony car's impressive cockpit you'll find a correct deluxe interior that was painstakingly reconstructed using a stellar combination of original and reproduction pieces. Naturally, Shelby focused most of his energy on the performance and exterior appearance of the car; and when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent Mustang interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is an old school wood-rimmed and chrome-trimmed EPPI steering wheel that spins around a gold GT350 centerpiece. Above that steering wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer, a correct 8,000 RPM tachometer and a Ford AM radio in satin silver trim. In front of that dash, plush vinyl seats, which probably haven't broken double digit hours in seat time, present no evidence of sun damage or rot. Beneath those seats, new black carpet and bright stainless sills center an original Ford shifter between thick rubber mats and authentic Stewart Warner gauges. Above that carpet, an original black roll bar hangs original shoulder belts below a fade-free headliner. At the sides of that roll bar, stylish black door panels feature excellent stainless trim, spotless chrome handles and fresh silver accents. And at the back of the cockpit, familiar Shelby vents ride above a folding rear seat that expands a small cargo hold. As you might imagine, the sale of this investment grade Ford includes ample documentation. 1968 Shelby GT-500-KR Convertible428 Cobra Jet - Factory AirMatt Garrett - Dallas Texas - 214-878-3823 Click here for My Car Hobby Home Page1968 Shelby GT500-KR1968 Shelby GT500-KR Convertible, Shelby 3854 - FACTORY AC, 428 cu. in. Cobra-Jet V-8 engine, C6 auto, 3:00 Trac-Lok 9" Diff. Built June 26th, 1968 this Shelby is a substantial, rare and very documented car in many publications going back to the 80s as it sits exactly today. Original miles, original body and interior, Numbers match everywhere. This car received a comprehensive refinish done in the 80s by its 2nd owner, Chuck Brown in CA documented not only in photos, but many publications of that era.. This was never a left for dead or done for profit car. It was not a torn up neglected car or just a VIN used to cash in. This is not a "just restored car" It was, always was and still is a very nice mid #1 level example that has been loved all of its life. I wont quote production #s on KR Convertibles as that is redundant if you know these cars, but of course will mention the fact that Factory AC on and GT500KR is a needle in the haystack and really is what puts this car over the top as a rare collector. In the 80s when 2nd owner Chuck Brown decided to take this car up a notch, he was not thinking of how Marti and all of the other things people base these cars this minute on were going to play out about 30 years later. He was thinking of quality vs just a surface face that will pass muster at a now common auction. The very comprehensive refinish is now over 30 years old. Looking as good as it does today is rare to see on a car refreshed so many years ago. Again, this is not a restoration... Of course those terms 'patina" and "settling in nicely' coined by those auctions do come to play, but the car is really exceptional and shows better now as it did when all of these magazines had it featured. Every number and code are matching, original and authentic on this car as inspected by noted appraisers and Kevin Marti... Then later in its life, Carol himself. The 3rd Owner was Carol's friend/neighbor here in Texas. Carol was instrumental in finding/recommending this car for Mr Wise, a very wealthy entrepreneur that had a money no object stance with anything he did. Ironically the car was never "signed" by Carol as it was not deemed necessary in that circle. Many years prior to Carol's death, the 3rd owner of this car, Mr. Wise, passed away leaving this car to sit well protected for over another decade. Now what is is not correct on this car is the color or the fact the wheel centers are outlined in red. It is a Code R Highland Green car. In the 80s, Chuck Brown took the attitude that I agree with, "they are only original once' and this car cannot ever make that claim again even if the only thing done was paint a fender.. In this world of originality it does get that ridiculous, but I dont make the rules. Chuck elected to take what is considered by many as not a great color and changed it correctly as any color change ever done to Red. Purists may poopoo that to death that have not yet completed their restoration that may or may not ever get done, but it is what it is and the car is WAY too nice to go and color change to match the tag up and take away much of its noted attraction and history that it has under its belt. The car has been red for way longer than it has been green! The outlined red wheels are as you see in the 80s publications. I leave them that way as the documentation trail stays in tact. Think of this.... It was never in a magazine or won shows as a green car... so take it for what you will. This car received tip marks at SAAC in 1988 exactly as you see it now with no refreshment. It is also said to have been at SAAC 3 and 9 but I have not seen any photos of it there. Hoping someone may have one that turns up. This is a CA car, so it went to many of the SAAC early events. This is one of the nicest and highest integrity 60s cars I have seen, owned or been associated with to date. Far from a muscle car dealer slap together and not far off from the best day one original that has survived as best as all the love in the world could give it.More below after photos. For sale to the collector that wants a car that can show/drive that comes with authentication, history, prevalence and more. Interesting trades considered up or down. Prefer GM muscle with big engine option, AC and convertible. Apples to apples in other words. Just run it by me and see if something works out. My collection is a working collection, I trade, buy or sell with similar collectors world wide when the opportunity is right. Real miles, non restored dash, cluster, etc.I cannot say if this is the actual original windshield, but it shows a level of patina that indicates it is. All stamps are correct and it shows original. All door glass is original. As seen in 1989 magazine Good Points Mid Level 1 Show Car - It will be the King of most any show it enters History!!! - As you see this car has been its condition all the way back to the early 80s and is CA car noted and documentedDocumentation - In many magazines in the 80s and 90s at a time that most were left for deadAttended all early SAAC events in CAOriginality - Despite being a partial restoration, much originality is in this car. Storage - Never a left for dead car, always nice since new!Ownership - Never out of responsible hands. Most of these cars are pieced together, this one is not.Done for love - Never Profit - Done at a time when depth and quality were more important that purism and on surface cosmeticsIntegrity - Beyond what you can see at auctions... Would be hard pressed to find one that is this sorted (as it has not been torn apart to need sorting), fully functional and simply runs and drives like a near new car with the AC on.A star attraction at MANY MANY SW united states car shows for the past many years. So much it has just become a display car vs a judged car. Thank you for visiting; Click here for My Car Hobby Home PageYou can email me at [email protected]

2006 40th Anniversary Hertz Shelby GT-H “Rent-A-Racer” #77 of 500. This 40th Anniversary Shelby GT-H is adult collector owned & is believed to be one of the highest documented cars in existence. It has an amazing amount of paperwork and in-depth documentation from Ford Motor Co., Shelby American and Hertz Rental LLC-dating back to its April 2006 delivery at Shelby American in Las Vegas, to its rental life spent in sunny and dry Phoenix Arizona, to it's 1st private ownership by myself made in 2008. This early production double digit car was purchased by me in July of 2008 after a lengthy search to find one that met my criteria of an original, undamaged and unmolested car. I am the 1stcivilian owner since its registration from Hertz LLC. It retains its original paint, original stripes, original glass, original wheels (with no damage done by curbs or added wheel weights) and even retains the original Pirelli tires that the car was delivered with from Ford in 2006. The deluxe interior is Shelby/Ford original with black leather and in very good condition, even retaining the “promotional” Sirius Satellite receiver mounted to the center console showing the Hertz/Sirius logo, & ready to re-activate, In 2006 this historic Hertz/Shelby program was the very first for Carroll and Ford after 36 years. Each of these cars were built identical and shipped from the Mustang Plant in Flat Rock, MI., to the Shelby facility in Las Vegas for the “up-fit” to GT-H specifications. Each car had its unique parts painted at Shelby American on sight and put into place by hand for proper fitment. The attention to detail is amazing, and the quality of paint to the unique hood, front end and side scoops is very well done. These cars used what was a pre-production version of the California Special/Shelby GT front end supplied through Ford that was unavailable to the public in 2006. Not only were these cars the first collaboration for Shelby and Ford again, but they ended up being one of the lowest volume “True Numbered Shelby’s” to be built in the modern era--a perfect cornerstone to any true Shelby collection. *As stated in the latest 2015 Shelby magazine, "Without the GT-H Success, there would have been no GT500 Super Snakes, GT500KR's or GT 1000's". It was the car that put Shelby back in the Mustang business, says the Shelby team. What makes this car stand out from the rest, besides its excellent original condition, great appearance and ultra limited availability is the fact that all the rental stickers (maintenance/rental out/in notes) are still in the original spot in the drivers door sill, and the Hertz “anti-thief sticker” is still in place on the drivers glass.--This car is exactly as it was when it was being rented in Hertz’s airport location from the summer of 2006 through 2007. Since my purchase, I have had the front lower spoiler correctly and professionally repainted due to lower paint blemish/rub and a fresh original style Ford battery put in place with a trickle charger connection. Other than those items, nothing else has been added by the aftermarket, and nothing is missing from its original build by the Shelby factory or its “in-service” days at Hertz. Under full disclosure, when renting these cars if there was ANY issue at all, to protect Hertz and the renter, a police report & contact/return to the rental office was mandatory. When running a Carfax/AutoCheck, you will notice 2 minor checks. On 8/8/06, the rear stripe was scratched/bumped in the Hertz rental lot on the right side, just off the licence plate area, it was reported and touched up with matching "Hertz Gold touch-up paint, clearly seen in the rear photos-the original Shelby Laid Hertz Gold stripes are far to valuable to change, & on 2/4/07, the car hit “a domestic animal”, the car was "pulled out of service" on 2/5/07 the car was sent to evaluate the cars condition and renters responsibility-no damage was sustained to car and no repairs were needed and was put back in service immediately. I am a very picky owner/collector, these items did not discourage me from my purchase and do not bother me when showing the car-I have never had any intention to "fix the flaws" in the car, they add to the character. Many, many of these vehicles led very hard lives, this car was NOT one of them. The car was purchased by me with 16,xxx miles on it and now has 30,486, all being driven to car shows and respectfully enjoyed, always in dry summer weather. Again, having the original tires, shows its obviously gentile life since the very beginning of service. **This Shelby GT-H also had a genuine “Ford” extended warranty good through 4/2013, that was purchased by myself in mid 2008 while within the bumper-to-bumper warranty. *(a VERY unusual opportunity in itself)*. GT-H #77 has always been dealer serviced and maintained with an open checkbook since its purchase and no warranty repairs were ever needed, no doubt due to its obvious easy life on the road. Since in my possession, GT-H #77 is kept in a climate controlled garage year round safe from the elements. --Included with purchase of #06H0077 comes- *All rare paperwork/documentation that accompanies this car in an organized large binder.*Accompanying the paperwork are photographs of GT-H’s at Shelby American in various states of assembly.*Limited edition numbered key chain from Shelby #77 (only one was available for each car).*Limited edition “40th Anniversary” badge supplied by Shelby American (not installed).*Original “traction control pin” installed at Shelby to disable TCS on/off switch.*All original badges/hood pins/lettering and dash sticker & uninstalled dash plaque.*All original books and warranty paperwork that originally came with the car.*Even still retains the “engine cable” to prevent tampering and theft of the unique Shelby engine and its Ford Racing parts.**A genuine “Carroll Shelby” signature on the interior A-Pillar, visible inside and through the windshield. Not only is this a very rare location for Mr. Shelby’s signature, but signed on the original Ford inner windshield/door molding.*Original keys (both sets) and “Hertz” Key chain with rental I.D. information still attached and marked.*Last but not least, this car, CSM 06H0077, gives the opportunity to once again own the first historic collaboration between Carroll Shelby and the Ford Motor Company in 36 years. Car #77 is also the first year collaboration between Shelby and Hertz Rentals in almost 40 years, and gives the new owner the ability of owning an original Hertz "Rent-A-Racer" that retains all the original parts and pieces that made such a statement in 2006 and fueled the relationship with Carroll and Ford up to his passing on May 10th of 2012. *There are certainly fewer than 500 2006 Shelby GT-H’s remaining in collectors hands, and few, if any, offer such originality, such high documentation and the ability to have had a genuine Ford Extended Care Policy that had been put in place when it was eligible, but never needed repairs. In addition to this fully serviced, highly detailed and truly properly cared for investment car, physical inspections are recommended & welcomed before purchase, and I will work with you and the shipping company that you have arranged and paid for if necessary, to get this car to its new home. There may be other Hertz Shelby's on the market, but this is without question the most complete, non abused and original GT-H available for sale, and is bound to continue to appreciate in value, being the very first and lowest volume Mustang collaboration for Ford and Shelby American in the modern era, in it's Las Vegas, facility. You certainly never see yourself coming or going when driving this car, it is very unique. The latest auctions show a definite rise in interest on all era's of Shelby Mustang's. Performance modifications and tuning was supervised by the famous Shelby company which has a long standing history with modified Mustang models. The Shelby GT500 comes as a coupe or convertible. The GT500 is powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 developing 500 horsepower. Because of its high gas consumption, it incurs a gas-guzzler tax. Safety features on the GT500 include dual-stage front-impact airbags and three-point belts for all seats. It stands out with a unique front grille and bumper fascia, providing both a functionally larger and unimpeded air intake, while reducing air flow under the body. A unique engine hood with dual air-extraction slits is domed to clear the larger, 5.4-liter engine. The Ford Shelby GT500 is a new model for 2007. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComIntroductionThe Mustang remains one of the most widely recognized, respected, and desired nameplates in the automobile business. The Ford Mustang defined the pony-car segment in 1964; Plymouth's Barracuda may have beaten Ford to the showroom by 16 days, but it was the Mustang that set the sales records. The 'Cuda is gone now, and so are the Camaro, Firebird, Cougar, Javelin, Challenger, and every other would-be rival, leaving Ford's pony to prance alone. At least for now. For 2007, the 210-hp Mustang V6 and 300-hp Mustang GT are joined by the new 500-hp supercharged Shelby GT500, offering its own look, tuning, and equipment. Available in fastback coupe or convertible body styles, the Mustang V6 models make nice, stylish cruisers. The GT is an absolute hoot to drive, making all the right sounds, hanging onto corners tenaciously, and delivering thrilling acceleration performance. The Shelby GT500 adds to the fun with its near-Corvette performance. It's quite tossable, making for good sport on gymkhanas, race tracks or back roads. Its solid rear axle can get bouncy on bad pavement, and you'll want snow tires (four of them) for Northeastern or Midwestern winters. It may be retro inspired, but the Mustang is a thoroughly modern car. Redesigned from a clean sheet of paper for 2005, today's Mustang is faster and more agile than ever. It delivers the bold styling, rear-drive performance and affordability that have been Mustang hallmarks for decades, but it's smoother and quieter and better built than older models. Its interior looks like a throwback from the '60s, but it's functional and well finished. Granted, interior space is limited, especially given its exterior dimensions; and the back seat might better be described as a package shelf. The Ford Mustang is an American success story. It holds true to an idea that still appeals to people of all ages, decades after the original was launched. Forty-three years after it created an automotive niche all its own, Mustang is both true to its roots and better than ever. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComWalkaroundNothing says modern American sporty car better than this latest Mustang. Its long hood and short rear deck capitalize on 40 years of pony-car heritage. The current Mustang features classic design cues that have defined Mustangs since the 1960s: C-scoops in the sides, three-element tail lamps and a galloping horse badge in the center of the grille. Its menacing shark-like nose is reminiscent of the 1967-70 models. Yet the Mustang follows modern trends by offering ever-larger wheels, including two distinct 18-inch wheel designs for the GT. So trimmed, the Mustang looks more aggressively handsome than ever, and much like the concept cars that grabbed everyone's attention at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. And while the Mustang's retro-inspired look pleases the eyes, there's a lot of updated technology you don't see, starting with an aluminum hood to trim weight. The modern Mustang is based on the same mechanical platform as the Jaguar S-Type, albeit with some cost-trimming measures such as its live-axle rear suspension. Relative to previous Mustangs, everything under the car has been substantially upgraded. The brakes are bigger by nearly 20 percent. A completely new front and rear suspension yields a much quieter, smoother ride as well as much more precise steering during hard cornering. New engines deliver performance with efficiency. Optional antilock brakes bundled with traction control give any a fighting chance in bad situations. All Mustang engines are secured to the body with hydraulic mounts, which absorb and counteract vibration and pulsing. By adapting ideas and components from luxury cars, Ford has given the current Mustang a level of sophistication its predecessors never had. Yet the Mustang heritage of low-cost performance and flashy styling has not been compromised one iota. Like its muscle-era namesake, the Shelby GT500 stands out with a unique front grille and bumper fascia, providing both a functionally larger and unimpeded air intake, while reducing air flow under the body. A unique engine hood with dual air-extraction slits is domed to clear the larger, 5.4-liter engine. Around back a vintage-style duck-tail spoiler on the decklid and a series of four strakes under the rear fascia contribute to air management (or at least the appearance of it). Carroll Shelby's signature striking-Cobra emblem glowers from the gas cap and from a characteristically off-center position in the grille. The whole package rides on unique 18-inch rims sporting Ford's SVT (Special Vehicle Team) logo. Just as in 1968, coupes are topped by Le Mans-style racing stripes. They look terrific, though we're not sure they should carry down onto the rear bumper where they compete with the rear license plate. Shelby convertibles feature a premium fabric for the top. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComDriving ImpressionThe Mustang improves those things that have appealed to so many different kinds of drivers for more than 40 years, and it nearly eliminates the bad traits of traditional pony cars. In general, the good has gotten better and the bad, less so. The previous-generation (1994-2004) Mustang was still built around a body shell that dated from 1979, and it was about as stiff as wet rope. Ford claims the current Mustang's body/frame is 31 percent stiffer and it feels it. This Mustang is simply much more rigid and rattle-free than its predecessor. A rigid foundation provides the basis for a host of good things, including improved ride quality, sharper handling, and less interior vibration. This new-found solidity applies to the convertible as well. By their nature, convertibles don't offer the chassis rigidity of hard tops. Cars that cost five times as much as the Mustang tend to get shakier when the fixed roof is removed to design a convertible version. In the Mustang convertible, you will notice some shimmy in the windshield frame that you'll never see in the coupe. Yet when it comes to overall rigidity, the current Mustang convertible is light-years better than its predecessor. The convertible's folding top is simple and straightforward to operate. Unhook it from the windshield header and it powers back behind the rear seat with the touch of a button. The ultimate in posing requires that you manually install the optional boot cover, but the folded, exposed top and frame don't look bad without it. The wheelbase is relatively long, six inches longer than the previous generation (pre-2005), and that makes a difference in terms of ride quality. The ride has smoothed out, and the remaining harshness is of a completely different (and smaller) order. The rear suspension uses coil springs and a lightweight three-link design with a Panhard bar to keep all motion under constant control. It's about as good as a solid-axle suspension gets, and greatly reduces skipping and bouncing at the back of the car. The steering is crisp, precise and confidence inspiring. The brakes work well in high-speed highway driving situations, as we found during a test in Los Angeles. If you want ABS, you automatically get (and pay for) traction control, which has a dash-mounted off switch for special situations. (Drag racing, for instance.) The 4.0-liter V6 engine is technologically sophisticated and a solid performer for urban, exurban and suburban duties. The ratios in the five-speed automatic transmission seem well matched to the available torque. When the automatic gets into overdrive fifth gear, the engine goes quietly into economy mode until called upon for a lane change, a pass, or an uphill charge. This is a large-displacement V6 and it sounds more muscular at full throttle than any previous Ford V6 engine. Yet it rates 19/25 city/highway mpg with the automatic transmission, and 19/28 mpg with the manual. Indeed, the V6 Deluxe is the most popular model (about 70 percent of Mustangs sold today are V6s), and we like it. For just around $20,000, it delivers good torque, good acceleration and generally good road manners, with a sportier feel then previous six-cylinder Mustangs. And while it has less power than the V8 and smaller tires, the V6 seems slightly more eager to turn in for coners, a bit more agile than the nose-heavy GT. (The GT weighs about 150 pounds more, and almost all of that is on the front wheels.) The GT, on the other hand, is a 300-hp, five-speed pavement-ripper for about $25,000. The three-valve-per-cylinder V8 engine features both variable camshaft timing and electronic throttle control. The Mustang GT will run 0-60 mph in about 5.5 seconds; it will out-brake a large number of sporty cars; and it handles better on canyon roads that any previous Mustang GT, with a minimum of body roll and a large portion of tire grip. Expect 17/23 mpg with the automatic, 17/25 with the manual. The GT l. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComInteriorThe Mustang interior is as blatantly throwback as the exterior, and nearly as well done. It's sporty and crisp in appearance and straightforward in function. There's a heavy dose of 1967 Mustang inside, with the dash divided into distinct right and left pods, blended with modern touches. Chrome-ringed air vents align across the dash, precisely in line with the gauges, and the steering wheel has three spokes with a center hub marked by the horse-and-tricolor-bars logo. While some of the materials have a cost-saving look and feel, the package is not bad given the high style and price of entry. An interior upgrade package adds red leather seats, red door inserts and red floor mats on cars with appropriate exterior colors. Along with its new inside duds, Mustang offers an optional color-changeable instrument panel display, with 125 color schemes to choose from. It's a gimmick, to be sure, but it's easy to use, and it can brighten your day, and especially your night, as you drive. We're all for that. Speaking of brightening, however, there's enough shiny metal on this car's dash and steering wheel to create some glare problems for drivers on sunny days (just like the old days). Another interior upgrade package, with satin or dark-finish aluminum inserts instead of chrome, goes a long way toward eliminating traces of cheapness. These are the good old days in terms of roominess in the Mustang. The 107-inch wheelbase and 187.6-inch overall length of the current model are the longest of any Mustang since 1973, and are within an inch of the dimensions of the 1969-70 model. But Ford has learned something about space efficiency since then, so today's Mustang offers more front-seat hip, leg, elbow and shoulder room than any previous generation. We found the front bucket seats to be comfortable, supportive and retentive in hard corners. The back seat, however, isn't much more accommodating than in the old fastback 2+2 variant of 1965-68. It's not a place adults will want to spend any time. At least it still folds flat, just like in the old days, to expand luggage capacity. And even without folding the back seat, the Mustang's trunk is as large as those in some more overtly practical sedans. Seats in the Shelby are more aggressively bolstered, and the positions of the speedometer and tachometer are swapped. The Shelby is upholstered in black leather, with or without red inserts. All interior chrome is replaced by satin-finish aluminum for reduced glare. Snake logos slither on the seatbacks and steering-wheel hub. The standard sound system that comes in the Mustang is good. The 500-watt upgrade is reasonably priced as part of the premium package, and adds a six-CD changer. The 1000-watt upgrade will impress most audiophiles, but the extra subwoofers in the trunk steal a good chunk of cargo space. We'd be inclined to pass on those. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComSummaryThe Ford Mustang looks and feels like an all-American car, and that's a good thing. And when you throw the name Carroll Shelby into the mix, you're talking about running straight up a value curve that just won't quit. This 1970 Boss 302, equipped with rare Shelby dual-quad induction, is a fully documented, magazine-featured award winner that's considered the ultimate small block Mustang. What's more? It's mostly original body and rare gold over black color combo was recently ground up restored by the experts at Santa Barbara Muscle Cars in Santa Barbara, California. If you're a prospecting enthusiast who's looking for long-term gains via a pristine example of one of the finest pony cars ever produced, this world class Boss is the classic you've been craving! According to Kevin Marti of Marti Auto Works, this super rare coupe was bolted together in Metuchen, New Jersey on November 28th of 1969. Here's a thorough breakdown of the car's original door data and optional equipment: DOOR DATA: SERIAL NUMBER: 0T02G1386750 1970 model yearT Built in Metuchen, New Jersey02 Mustang SportsroofG 302 cubic inch, 4V Boss engine38,675th Ford vehicle scheduled for production at Metuchen11/69 Assembled in November of 196963B Mustang SportsroofK Ford #3340-A Bright Gold Metallic paintEA Black Clarion Knit/Corinthian Vinyl bucket seatsS 3.50 Traction-Lok axle5 4-speed, wide-ratio manual transmission28 Louisville Ordering District OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:Rear deck spoilerChrome Magnum 500 wheelsF60x15 belted, raised white letter tiresDcor GroupConsoleAM 8-track stereo4-speed, wide-ratio manual transmissionTraction-Lok differential One of two identically optioned Boss 302s sold through Jefferson Ford in Fayetteville, Tennessee, this awesome pony car is a rare, magazine-featured award winner. Not too long ago, its solid body was the beneficiary of a thorough restoration that primed bare, mostly original metal for a correct and glossy coat of Bright Gold Metallic two-stage. Once that even pigment was buffed to an excellent shine, a full array of factory war paint tapped into an aggressive demeanor that's both classic and fitting. And today, the car sits as a revered collection of well-aligned panels and ridged character lines that presents a stunning, show worthy appearance. For 1970 the Mustang received a smoother body, a less aggressive face, a flat rear valence and a variety of balanced trim tweaks. The idea was to tame looks that some believed were hindering sales and better the car's performance in crucial SCCA Trans Am events. At the leading edge of this super slick Boss, a correct, Mustang-branded grille hangs bright halogen headlights between familiar 'fender fins', a pristine bumper, clear parking lamps and an aggressive chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a solid Mustang hood leads the eye to like-new glass that's framed in satin-finished wipers, correct sport mirrors and straight stainless trim. At the sides of that glass, re-fashioned fenders combine with chrome-trimmed marker lamps and classy chrome door handles to provide an aggressive, yet finished appearance. And at the back of those fenders, a Satin Black valence anchors an ornate fuel filler and segmented tail lights between a correct decklid spoiler, a fresh "MUSTANG" script, a second pristine bumper and wide-set reverse lamps. But hey, never mind all that talk about how pretty the trim is, what really matters is under the hood! Never disassembled, and still churning to factory specifications, the car's 302 cubic inch Windsor small block utilizes Cleveland-style heads, a race prepped crank, a solid lifter cam, heavy duty rods and forged pistons to create over 290 horsepower. At the top of the Ford Blue mill, a finned and "COBRA" branded air cleaner feeds two Holley 4-barrels that are seated on a big Shelby intake. In front of those Holleys, a traditional points distributor sequences fire between an Autolite coil, an Autolite voltage regulator and fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. At the sides of that distributor, long-tube headers funnel spent gases into a menacing, side-exit exhaust system. And in front of those headers, a tagged radiator sends water around a big fan via pliable hoses and tight screw clamps. As you can probably tell, the raucous engine has been trimmed in chrome and crowned with sweet aluminum valve covers. That bejeweled appearance contrasts well against Satin Black fenders and a full array of decals. And everything, from the car's correct Autolite rev limiter to its tagged Autolite Sta-Ful battery, looks 100% authentic and complete. Aesthetically, the bottom of this clean Ford has been restored to the same high standards as its striking exterior and pristine engine compartment. Behind the motor, a wide-ratio 4-speed spins a correct Traction Lok differential around competent, road-ready gears. Holding that awesome drivetrain off the ground is a correctly restored suspension which mixes fresh paint with new Koni shocks. At the ends of that suspension, standard manual steering combines with power front disc and rear drum brakes to provide competent track capability. Overhead, clean, oversprayed floorpans, the only place the car has ever needed new metal, look solid and ready to show. In the middle of those floors, a fresh true-dual exhaust system pipes roasted dinosaurs through an H-shaped crossover and thin, glasspack-style mufflers. At the sides of that exhaust, mirrored Magnum 500s twist meaty 245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around galloping horse center caps. And everything, from this Mustang's stainless fuel tank to its factory sway bars, is fully sorted, ready to show and itching to go! Inside this blue oval beaut, a correct black interior features freshly re-covered seats and simple stainless accents that blend seamlessly with the car's awesome exterior panels. Everything from the tight headliner to the fade-free carpet appears restoration-fresh. The dash is loaded with rebuilt and re-chromed gauges, features a correct stereo, and looks good in wood trim that's as vivid as the day it rolled through the showroom. At the floor, a traditional Hurst T-handle rides inside a stylish, hard-lined console. In front of the driver, a Rim Blow steering wheel spins a bright wood rim around a tri-color Mustang emblem. Behind the passengers, a completely restored trunk features a correct jack, correct lid decals and a collapsible spare tire. And, like most first generation Mustangs, this Boss' design and detailing is impressive proof that 60s-era Ford definitely employed some of the industry's best designers. Naturally, this solid gold thoroughbred features extensive provenance. Here's a chronological list of what our sale includes:An Eminger invoiceAn original owner's manualAn ownership history that dates back to 1989Service records that span the early 90sA stack of restoration receiptsPhotos of its re-paintA reproduction window stickerA copy of its feature in the March, 1995 edition of Muscle Car ReviewA framed copy of Muscle Car Review that's signed by Larry ShinodaA Deluxe Marti Auto Works ReportA Deluxe Marti Auto Works Report that's framed with an official Marti Auto Works letter which states the car is 1 of 1 Few classics have the attitude and presence of an old school Boss. And in the world of specialty Mustangs, the name Carroll Shelby has always been synonymous with extreme performance and big exclusivity. If you can find a documented Shelby Mustang that's been correctly restored and has all the right hardware, you can get a serious, investment grade classic with an upward value curve that never seems to end. And if you've ever dreamed of owning a rare pony car that mixes a storied drivetrain with a solid restoration, you've clicked the right icon! Originally delivered to Jack Howell Motors in Newfane, New York, and passed through only three owners since, this solid gold Ford presents an incredible opportunity to own a real thoroughbred. The car's bodywork, founded on 100% original sheetmetal, looks solid, crisp and fitting for a high caliber classic. Shelby's traditional fiberglass, which includes the firm's often difficult decklid treatment, fits together well. That fiberglass is covered in a searing coat of Sunlit Gold Metallic, which is finished to a level that makes old school factory fodder envious. And clean white stripes perfectly complement correct GT500 call-outs. Shelby's GT line threw fuel on the muscle car fire by not only adding power, but also introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang design cues ever created. At the leading edge of this slick GT500, a bright chrome bumper dissects a correct Shelby grille, which hangs stylish driving lamps between a prominent "S H E L B Y" script, clear Ford headlights and round parking lamps. At the top of that grille, sculpted lanyards lead the eye past a lightweight fiberglass hood to like-new glass that's framed in straight stainless trim, small stainless wipers and correct chrome mirrors. At the sides of that glass, correct Shelby scoops and fender caps combine with fresh Cobra emblems, traditional door handles and dent-free rocker guards to provide an aggressive, yet finished appearance. And at the back of the car, a familiar Shelby decklid hangs a second "S H E L B Y" script over Shelby tail lights, a Cobra fuel filler, detailed reverse lamps and a second chrome bumper. Lift the car's lightweight hood and you'll find a 428 cubic inch, "C7ME-A" branded block that wears an era-correct August (H) 22nd (22), 1967 (7) casting date. That means, since Ford didn't officially introduce the Cobra Jet until April, 1968, this 355 horsepower mill is indeed a Police Interceptor block. And, while most casual observers argue that Ford's Cobra Jet is the pinnacle of Shelby powerplants, Dearborn's proven police-spec V8 is certainly nothing to scoff at. What's more: most experts agree the engine probably puts out closer to 420 horsepower and as much as 450 lb./ft. of torque. At the top of the Ford Blue beast, a finned and "COBRA" branded air cleaner jams oxygen into a big Holley carburetor that's bolted to a correct aluminum intake. At the sides of that intake, high performance heads hang finned and "COBRA LE MANS" branded valve covers between a small chrome breather and cast iron exhaust manifolds. At the front of those heads, an authentic points distributor utilizes fresh Autolite Radio Resistance wires to light the cylinders' fires. And in front of that distributor, a thick radiator cycles water through pliable hoses and reproduction tower clamps. Aesthetically, this Mustang's well-detailed engine bay appears very close to original, featuring even Satin Black paint under correct Ford decals. And everything, from the car's vintage washer tank to its reproduction battery, is fully-sorted and ready to roll. Take a look under this awesome GT500 and you'll find clean floors that are no stranger to road time. Just aft of the legendary V8, a tough C6 3-speed spins a correct Ford 9-inch around moderate, 3.50 gears. At the front of the car, factory control arms hang a correct sway bar and factory power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of the car, stiff springs hang traditional, power-assisted drums at the edges of a leak-free fuel tank. In the middle of the car, a beefy, true-dual exhaust system funnels spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, throaty turbo mufflers and small stainless tips. And at the edges of the car, power flows to the pavement through E70-15 Goodyear Speedways and reproduction Shelby 10-spokes. Inside this gold chariot you'll find a correct Black interior that blends seamlessly with the car's bright exterior paint. Everything from the door panels and headliner to the black carpet and pony-branded floor mats appears to be original equipment. The vintage dash is loaded with vintage telemetry, and features retro trim that's still vivid. A correct Philco radio rides above small Stewart Warner accessory gauges, a chrome, cobra-branded shifter and a full-length, factory console. In front of the driver, you'll find a traditional, two-spoke steering wheel. Behind the passengers, a completely restored trunk mixes a correct mat and decklid decal with a fifth 10-spoke alloy and full-size spare tire. And, like most first generation Mustangs, this Shelby's design and detailing is impressive proof that Ford definitely had some of the best interior stylists in the business. As you might imagine, the sale of this investment grade Ford includes ample documentation. The car's lucky new owner will receive:Two original build sheetsAn original buck tagAn original Owner's ManualAn original Maintenance FolioAn original Warranty BookletA certificate for the Shelby American Automobile ClubVintage paperwork As one of Dearborn's best combinations of performance and style, well-restored Shelbys present an excellent opportunity for savvy investors. And if previous trends are any indication, these cars will continue to gain value as they become more exclusive and more collectible. This professionally restored 302 is a documented, fully-sorted gem that drives and sounds every bit as good as it looks. If you're a dedicated purist who desires only the best, here's your chance to own the ultimate muscle car! About this auction & rk motors charlotte Please note that all sales are binding and final. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Documented Investment Grade Shelby GT500 428 Police Interceptor V8 C6 Ford 9" Year: 1968 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Gold Mileage: 90114 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 428 Police Intercepter V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info From evil 60s Trans Am racers to Fox Body SVOs, the Mustang camp has ALWAYS offered a whole portfolio of unique options and fabled powertrains. That opportunity is substantially increased when the car's history and authenticity are so thoroughly documented. This fully sorted coupe, with its correct restoration, original interior and correct drivetrain, is an ideal candidate for rounding out any enthusiast's collection! So how about: fully documented, rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR that's decked in correct Lime Gold 2-stage? Yeah, that sounds good. But trust us, if you like the sound of that sentence, you're going to LOVE the car it describes! BODYWORK/TRIM According to Ford expert Kevin Marti, this registry-listed Shelby was produced on May 14th, 1968 and delivered down south to Rivers Ford of Monroe, Louisiana. After four decades of excellent maintenance and accident-free living, the car was purchased by its present owner and enjoyed as a solid driver. As we all know, drivers are fun, and the car racked up quite a few MCA Concours awards in that state, but sometimes it's just better to take things to the next level. So, in 2014, this clean Mustang benefitted from a professional, rotisserie restoration that was completed by Shelby specialist Tim Lea of North Andover, Massachusetts. When the car emerged from the shop in May of 2015, everything was 100% correct all the way down to original, assembly-spec oil and air filters. And today, sporting correct Lime Gold Metallic 2-stage under familiar Shelby side stripes, it rolls as a first-class showpiece that secured a Gold at the 2015 Ford/Shelby Nationals in the Concours Heritage Class, and a Silver at SAAC 40 in Division II Concours judging. Naturally, a build this extensive involved quite a bit of original bolt-ons that, according to this KR's owner, were professionally re-plated as needed. At the front of the car, original fiberglass centers a stainless-trimmed grille behind clear Ford headlights, big Lucas driving lamps, a bright chrome bumper and bullet-style parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a familiar "S H E L B Y" script leads the eye to an original fiberglass hood, which is founded beneath mirror-like stainless and a SuperGlass-massaged greenhouse. At the sides of that greenhouse, a straight profile hangs original scoops, ornate Cobra Jet emblems and original fender extension around traditional door handles, a correct chrome mirror and NOS rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, a smooth silver valence centers correct taillights and a detailed fuel filler between a second chrome bumper, bright reverse lamps, KR-exclusive exhaust tips and an original, "S H E L B Y" branded decklid. ENGINE While the car's professionally rebuilt engine isn't original equipment, it is a highly accurate, date-correct 428. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, factory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy-duty rods, a nodular crank, and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a correct, SM8S-equipped air cleaner over a date-correct carburetor and high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang crinkle-finish Cobra LeMans valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. The fires are lit by a familiar points distributor, which sequences sparks through fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a re-cored radiator, which circulates water through pliable Autolite hoses and vintage screw clamps. And charging is provided by squeak-free V-belts, which spin a rebuilt alternator between correct power steering and correct smog equipment. Aesthetically, the marked and decaled engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, from the car's factory brake booster and fresh Autolite battery to its tidy Ford washer tank and fresh Autolite voltage regulator, is fully sorted and ready to show. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find correct, Oxide Red floors that are such a close interpretation of the car's original foundation that they back correct Lime Gold overspray with factory-accurate paint drips. A tough C6 3-speed utilizes a correctly marked Dead Nuts On driveshaft to spin a correct Traction-Lok differential around correct 3.50 gears. At the front of that drivetrain, a rebuilt suspension centers a beefy sway bar and the aforementioned power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of that drivetrain, correct C7ZA leaf springs hang correct drum brakes at the edges of a clean stainless fuel tank. At the center of that suspension, fresh exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. And power meets the ground through E70-15 Kelsey repros, which wrap correct, KR-exclusive black sidewalls around appropriate Shelby 10-spokes. INTERIOR Naturally, Ol' Shel focused most of his energy on the performance and appearance of America's most revered pony car. And when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is a snazzy wood-rimmed and chrome-trimmed steering wheel. Behind that wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer beside a correct Philco radio. Opposite that dash, knitted vinyl seats are in spectacular shape, presenting hardly any evidence of use. Between those seats, a full-length console anchors small Stewart Warner accessory gauges in front of a slick Shelby shifter and correct, cobra-branded armrest. Beneath that console, like-new carpet rides tight between Shelby-branded sills. Opposite that carpet, a Shelby-spec roll bar and decaled sun visors perfectly complement a fresh headliner. At the base of that roll bar, which serves as a requisite foundation for Python-restored seatbelts, pliable door panels mix bright stainless trim and spotless chrome handles and clean wood accents. And at the back of the cockpit, a fully restored trunk sandwiches a matching Kelsey spare between a new mat and fresh decklid decal.
