Please DO NOT click on 'BUY IT NOW'. This is an ad for this Vehicle. All interested people must contact me first! I prefer not to sell to a complete stranger whom did not even see the Vehicle. Interested people should at least express interest in seeing the Vehicle in person and make arrangements with me! In other words...if you would like to buy the car, I expect you would like to see the car in person before purchasing. So please do NOT click on 'Buy It Now' button. Our family has deep roots in the Studebaker history and community. Not only do we participate in annual Studebaker Swap Meets, but we also have been long running members of the Studebaker Driver's Club. We are honest folks who spent *many* decades rebuilding these ol' cars and are very passionate about them. We would like to sell this Vehicle to a similar Studebaker enthusiast whom will also love, cherish, and take care of it! About this Vehicle: This is a 1963 Studebaker Lark, two-door, black, convertible. It was re-built about 16 years ago...the original odometer shows 300,000 miles on it, and this is the mileage used for this listing. Although ever since being rebuilt, it was rarely driven. It sat in clean, supervised storage, albeit the seasonal warm-ups and small drives. It has a V8, all 12V - alternator electrical system, automatic transmission, floor-mounted gear shifter/lever, and a 4-barrel Holley carburetor. The chrome is in excellent condition! All works: headlights, blower fan, wiper, brake lights, directional lights (turning lights), license plate lights.! NO power steering...driving this car requires some muscles. There are a few present minor issues that can be addressed:No air cleaner (sorry, I don't have an extra one)The driver's side hydraulic piston (for the roof mechanism) had a tiny pin hole in it...this was fixed with a rubber sleeve and mechanical clamps over the pin hole. No leaks, the fix works great! It needs a coolant flush and possibly a standard carburetor overhaul (sometimes during cold weather it stalls when initially starting after sitting over-night)No antennae for the radio...so no radio channels, although the radio apparatus worksMinor paint/cosmetic issues near the rear driver's side fenderThe floor-mounted gear lever is slightly out-of-adjustment. The Park (P) and Reverse (R) are right by each other. The slight misalignment causes the reverse lights to come on, when in park. To prevent the car from jumping into reverse, the gear lever must be pushed firmly into the P position. I am working on fixing this issue.Missing kick-panels trims inside near the foot-well of the driver's side and passenger's sideMechanically, it runs great and works great. Please check the attached pictures and also the YouTube video link for demonstrations! It is not museum quality, but it is in good condition! All clean and new paperwork! No delivery! If you buy it, *YOU* will need to have a plan to take it away. You will need to secure your own mode of transporting this vehicle back to your home. I will not be responsible nor help you in any way in transporting this vehicle back to your home. If you don't have a plan or means of transporting the vehicle, I will not sell it to you!Potential buyer will be required to sign with me a legally binding Bill of Sale document.YouTube link for demonstration of engine operation: YouTube video of engine operation. ==================================== PRICE: $14,000. ====================================NOTE: If you come and visit the car on my property, you automatically consent to be audio/video recorded by numerous security systems that are active on the entire premises. This may or may not include vehicle license plate detection of your source of transportation to/from my property. One can't be too safe, right ? Please only contact me if you are really really interested. Any fraud, spamming, or suspicious activity/transaction will not be tolerated and will be dealt with swiftly with legal representation and law enforcement officers, under any applicable State and Federal laws/regulations.

WORLDWIDE SHIPPING AVAILABLE! 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII 2-Door Wagon 1 of only 5,231 ever produced Rare 2 door configuration Very Original Car Excellent Driver and a Perfect Restoration Candidate Super Solid Body and Chassis Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868, under the name of the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the company was originally a producer of farm wagons, also producing for the military, and for miners. Fast forward to 1926, Studebaker was the first automobile manufacturer in the United States to open a controlled outdoor proving ground on which, in 1937, 5,000 pine trees were planted that spelled "STUDEBAKER" when viewed from the air. In the 1960s, Studebaker began to diversify away from automobiles. Many companies were purchased, bringing Studebaker into different fields like the manufacture of tire studs and missile components. 55 years later this Lark Wagon still stands tall with almost all of the original trim still intact and present with the car. The panel gaps are consistent and look great. There is no door safe and all moveable panels close tight and straight. This car has so much originality that it needs to be seen in person to full appreciate it. The grilles and both chrome bumpers are straight and shiny and show almost no pitting at all. The headlights and tail lamps are in fine working condition, and as transparent as ever. The windshield has minimal rock chips if any at all. The windshield wipers aren't operational at the moment, and we have yet to look into them. The passenger sliding windows still open smoothly and the glass looks original and nice. The paint is tired as it appears to be original inside and out. We detect some surface rust around the roof trim as you can see in the pictures however the metals throughout appear very solid. There's a good sized knot on the lower quarter panel as you can see but otherwise this example is nice and straight, and unusually original. All emblems are present! The leather interior and headliner, are in near perfect condition, a vibrant crimson color, the stitching on the black leather dashboard is still in wonderful condition. The gauges and trim look fantastic and show just the perfect amount of patina. The door panels and hardware all show in excellent condition as do the seats and rear folding parts. The carpet is tired but help prove the cars originality. The stereo is an aftermarket cassette player, with speakers mounted in the cab's trim panels. The A/C unit is an external Mark IIII unit, which should be operational, but disconnected at the moment. Sporting a factory installed 259 cu in (4.2 L) V8 (Block # V487I08), It starts right up, and drives like a beauty. The frame is solid, showing only minor surface rust. It has some usual underside leakage but overall is mechanically sound and an excellent driver. The two-door Studebaker Lark VIII's were only manufactured for two years, 1959 and 1960. Already making them a rarity, In 1959, 26,709 units were manufactured, With this being a 1960 Lark VIII, only 5,231 units were manufactured! Studebaker only made the bullet nose models for 2 years. This is the Business Coupe mode 10G-Q4 of which only 2421 were produced. Of that group, only one was made with a V8. No one knows what happened to it, so I built my own. I took the photo from the Salesman's Brochure for my reference model. This is not a stock color that was offered that year, but the advertisers choose a powder blue for the manual. My goal was to put a Studebaker 289 V8 motor in place of the inline 6, add front disc breaks, new Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, and convert to 12 volts so I could add A/C for cruising hot August nights. This is basically a new car now and over restored for sure. The engine, tranny and rear have all been rebuilt. This model has an electric overdrive and will cruise at 68mph running 3000rpm and purr like a kitten, no strain at all. All new shocks and front springs and tires on it. This is not a hot rod but a cruiser. New rubber all around, new headliner and interior, with tinted glass. This is a nut and bolt restoration on which I have spent thousands of hours with attention to the fine details in the restoration. It has been over 10 years since the project was completed and everything is still like new. Paint, chrome, body work, glass, all still look brand new. She has only 4,000 miles on the new motor and driveline. (32,120 miles on body) Has always been garaged and only wet 3 times (caught in rain twice and washed once). The sale comes with many extra parts and a full set of manuals. A CD containing over 3000 photos of the project in all phases comes to document the work. All receipts and conversion notes as well. I have enjoyed the car but now I want something new to work on so I need to find a new home for her. This is a turnkey show car unlike anything you will ever see A unique car and piece of automotive art. A car truly ahead of its time. The Engine and Drive Line I was able to find a fairly fresh 1964 Studebaker 289 bored 80 over. The engine was mic-ed out and rebuilt replacing all underspec parts with new ones. New rod bearing, rings, valves, valve guides. Both heads were sent out and rebuilt. I have driven it only 4,000k miles and it is strong and tight. The stock carburetor was replaced by an Edelbrock 1404 carburetor. The engine is bolted up to a tranny from a 1959 Studebaker truck with a 3-speed on the tree, and electric overdrive. The original 2 piece driveline was modified to fit the new engine and tranny. The rear end is from a 1964 Lark and is a Dana 44 with a 3.31 ratio. Suspension and Breaks I replaced the front drum breaks with a conversion package from Jim Turner which uses off the shelf OEM disks and rotors .The old Champion springs were replaced with new HD coils to support the extra weight of the V8. All the bushings in the upper and lower a-arm's replaced by Studebakers West. New shocks and sway bar bushings were installed to complete the restoration. The steering was left stock wheels were replaced with new steel rims in 15x6 format Wide white wall radials size P205/75-R15, on both front and rear were mounted Body Prep and Paint I went with a basecoat/clearcoat combination, using the DuPont ChromaBase system for my trim and exterior paint solution. All the panels were stripped down to bare metal, treated with acid, cleaned and coated with either POR15 or Everclear Epoxy Primer 2K. Two coats of color and 3 coats of clear were applied then color sanding and final buffing. Cooling and insulation This car was built to be a Florida vehicle so I removed all the old heater support and even plugged the hot water outlets on the water manifold. Vintage Air came out with a bracket for the Studbaker V8 and it went on without any issues. I ordered the smallest evaporator unit I could find, due to the small dash area in these cars. Southern Rods Econo-Kooler with A/C only had the best solution. The dash is only 8" deep and I could not get the AC unit to fit so it was exchanged for the under dash unit. I had to modify the dash to accept the 16.25" faceplate of the AC unit. I ended up cutting out the cigarette lighter and ash tray area to make it. I'll end up losing the glove compartment when the chrome dash trim is mounted. The A/C passenger vent will interfere with it opening. It was a pretty anemic glove box anyway. The windows were tinted professionally and baked on when the glass was out of the car. Ten years later it has no lamination or peeling. I did scratch the drivers side window in assembly. The entire cab is lined in a thermal blanket to keep heat out. All new rubber was used in the project so the cab is pretty air tight. The AC blows cold and hard. Electrical Gauges & Wiring The stock 1951 model was 6volt positive ground. I converted to 12 volt negative ground to support the AC unit. All wiring was replaced with plastic modern wire in the proper gauge. A Painless Universal Fuse Box was installed and I built a custom wire harness for it. All connections were crimped, soldered and heat shrinked. Great pain was taken in hiding the wires and the battery was relocated to the trunk. The gauges were changed to 12 volts. The gas gauge was replaced with a 12 volt unit and the faceplate of the 6V was used to keep the dash stock. The gas gauge is not accurate, I think it's the sending unit is a different resistance than the gauge expects. Other than that, all other electricals work. The car has only been wet twice and washed once. It has been kept in a garage all it's life. In the winter it goes up on jacks stands and I run the engine every month until warm to keep the gaskets fresh. What does not work? The 12 volt gas gauge is not accurate. There is a small leak in the front windshield passenger side. The new Edelbrock 1404 carburetor can get starved out under high acceleration and get air in the line. I have checked the line for leaks and found none. The fuel pump is the standard mechanical one correct for the Studebaker 289. The fix is to pressurize the fuel tank to prime the fuel pump and it starts back up. I carry a tire pressure reserve tank behind the seat for this. Now I don't lead foot it off the line anymore and it has not failed under normal driving conditions in the last 6 years. An electric fuel pump will solve this. ** NO TRADES! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE THE DOWNFALL AND EVENTUAL DEMISE OF THE STUDEBAKER COMPANY IS WELL KNOWN IN CAR ENTHUSIAST CIRCLES. IT IS ONE OF THE SADDEST STORIES IN AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY. ONE OF THE PIONEERING AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES IN THE COUNTRY, STUDEBAKER ESTABLISHED AN ENVIABLE REPUTATION FOR QUALITY AND RELIABILITY. HOWEVER, VICIOUS COMPETITION FROM THE LARGER FORD AND CHEVROLET, CORPORATE MISMANAGEMENT AND POOR DECISIONS, BAD MERGERS, AND LACK OF FUNDS DETERMINED THE FINAL FATE OF THE COMPANY. THE LAST STUDEBAKER ROLLED OFF THE CANADIAN ASSEMBLY LINE ON MARCH 16,1966. THE BAD NEWS FOR STUDEBAKER WAS GOOD NEWS FOR AUTO ENTHUSIASTS AND COLLECTORS WORLDWIDE. DUE TO QUALITY OF BUILD, LOW PRODUCTION NUMBERS, AND POPULAR STYLING, CLASSIC STUDEBAKERS HAVE BECOME SOME OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER COLLECTOR VEHICLES IN THE MARKET. ONE OF THE OFTEN OVERLOOKED MODEL LINES WERE THE STUDEBAKER TRUCKS. Studebaker entered the automotive business in 1902 with electric vehicles and in 1904 with gasoline vehicles, all sold under the name "Studebaker Automobile Company". Over the next 50 years, the company established an enviable reputation for quality and reliability. However, years of trouble followed. Studebaker's strong post-war management team including president Paul Hoffman and Roy Cole (vice-president, engineering) had gone by 1949 and was replaced by more cautious executives who failed to meet the competitive challenge brought on by Ford and Chevrolet. The conservative executives became obsessed with short term goals instead of long term prosperity. Massive discounting in a price war between Ford and General Motors could not be equalled by the independent carmaker, for whom the only hope was a disastrous merger of Studebaker, Packard, Hudson, and Nash into a third giant combine. By 1954, Studebaker was already in the red ink. They struggled for over a decade before the end came. One of the success stories, and also victims, in this drama was the Studebaker truck line. Noted Studebaker historian Fred Fox stated that the company lost one of its' greatest opportunity when it didn't aggressively enter the commercial truck market after the World Wars. Studebaker had a long standing relationship with businesses and farmers, dating back to the horse wagon days. This was the exact demographic that was demanding the pickup truck. Ignoring this proved fatal. The Studebaker Champ was the light duty truck that was manufactured from 1960-1964. The truck line hadn't undergone a significant redesign in over 10 years. Although they had to use many existing components due to cost constraints, the end result was impressive. The chassis and cargo box were very similar to the existing design. However, designers devised a creative plan to utilize the Lark sedan body as the cab section. The engineering staff took a four-door sedan, cut it in half behind the front doors and modified the front half slightly to fit the truck chassis. The only new sheet metal stamping that was required was the back wall of the new cab. With a cab based on a sedan body, the Champ was among the first pickups to offer true "car-like" comfort, with a wide, comfortable bench seat and a handsomely-styled interior. Other manufacturers took until the late 1960s and early 1970s to follow the Champ's lead. The Champ also was the first to offer state of the art options such as sliding rear window and fiberglass body and bed components. The Champ also pointed the way to a smaller yet still rugged pickup, something Dodge later claimed as a "first" with their mid-sized Dakota, which was introduced as a 1987 model, nearly 27 years after the Champ. By December 1963, Studebaker's board of directors announced the closure of its' South Bend factory, and the trucks were among the casualties of the company's consolidation around an abbreviated family-car lineup in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant. When they purchased the rights and tooling to the Studebaker Avanti in 1964, Nate Altman and Leo Newman also acquired the rights and tooling to Studebaker's trucks. However, Altman and Newman, for reasons which are lost to history, never built as much as a single truck. The opportunity to continue to manufacture a vehicle that was ahead of its' time was lost. The result is the existence of a very limited number of quality built, highly demanded Studebaker pickup trucks. Today, the Champs that still exist are highly prized for their interesting combination of passenger-car comfort and style and their rugged mechanical durability The example in this ad is one of them. don't miss this opportunity. There is a simple reason why there are very few of these trucks still on the road today. The majority of these have rusted away and were hauled to the junk yard. Although not still show condition, still can be rated as a nice driver quality example. Refinished many years ago in the original Apache Red. White trim on bumpers, grille, and headlight rims. White body accent stripes. White Studebaker logo on tail gate. Paint is good driver quality. There are some driving blemishes and some areas of minor bubbling, and a few minor repairs, however the paint has a glossy shine and shows well. View the Photo Bucket file to verify paint condition. Body and bed are solid and in overall very good condition for the age of the truck. Dual chrome mirrors. Bed rails. Finished oak bed flooring with deep grain in the wood. White wall radial tires. P215/75R15. Factory wheels with Studebaker hub caps. All glass is in very good condition. Champ emblems on the doors. The 170 Cu. In. six cylinder is believed to be the original. Engine and engine bay are clean. Please view Photo Bucket video below of the engine running. The engine runs very well. All components, with the exception of maintenance and repair items, appear factory original. Factory three speed manual transmission with overdrive. Newer clutch. Transmission shifts well. Overdrive lever functions properly. Factory Dana 44 rear differential. Vehicle runs and drives well. CLICK ON THIS LINK FROM THE PUBLIC DOMAIN OF PHOTO BUCKET TO VIEW THE ENGINE RUNNING: http://s514.photobucket.com/user/redeuce/library/1963%20STUDEBAKER%20VIDEO Interior was completely redone in red and white vinyl. Every component of the interior is in very good shape. Bench seat cushions and covers in very good condition, as well as door panels. Steering wheel in very good condition. Dash and gauges in very good condition, gauge faces are clear. Weatherstripping in very good shape. AM/FM radio. The interior is good looking, and also very comfortable. Paint and body are displayed well with minimal paint issues and no visible evidence of repair or damage that we could find. The Chevrolet Corvair is a compact automobile manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet for model year 1960–1969 over two generations. As the only American-designed, mass produced passenger car to feature a rear mounted air-cooled engine, the Corvair range included a two-door coupe, convertible, four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon body styles, as well as passenger van, commercial van, and pickup truck variants. The Corvair competed with imported cars such as the original Volkswagen Beetle, as well as the Falcon, Plymouth, Studebaker Lark and the Rambler American. New refinements appeared on the 1965 redesign. The Corsa came standard with an instrument panel featuring a 140 mph speedometer with resettable trip odometer, a 6,000 rpm tachometer (slightly off on rpms), cylinder head temperature gauge, analog clock with a sweeping second hand, a manifold vacuum/pressure gauge and fuel gauge. A much better heater system, larger brakes borrowed from the Chevelle, a stronger differential ring gear, a Delcotron alternator (replacing the generator), and significant chassis refinements were made. AM/FM stereo radio, in-dash All Weather Air Conditioning, telescopically adjustable steering column, and a Special Purpose Chassis Equipment (“Z17”) handling package, consisting of a special performance suspension and quick ratio steering box, were significant new options for 1965. This true example of a Corsa Corvair is equipped with a 4 carburetor “Turbo-Air 164” 2.7L 140hp flat 6 cylinder (matching numbers) engine coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, larger brakes, 140mph speedometer, Notebook containg everything from the original delivery date at the dealership to restoration receipts, original owners manual and spare set of keys. Warranty ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH CAR BEING SOLD WHERE IS, AS IS! The vehicle is offered with a right to a personal inspection by any bidder or agent of any bidder. The vehicle is available for inspection prior to bidding. If you are the high bidder and unable to inspect said vehicle before auction close, you or an agent will have (7) days to inspect said vehicle after the close of auction. I encourage a physical inspection strongly to avoid any misunderstandings or representations. All used vehicles should be assumed to have some degree of wear. No vehicle is perfect to everyone. Each vehicle has its strengths, styles, tendencies and shortcomings. Therefore, despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle’s mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or previous owner’s diligence in care. It is for this reason that all vehicles are sold ”WHERE/IS, AS/IS”. We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all classic and exotic vehicles, the condition is subjective. Please be advised that no oral or written statements concerning any vehicle constitutes a representation or warranty of the condition of the said vehicle. INDUSTRY UNIQUE RETURN POLICY: If for any reason you receive your vehicle and have buyer’s remorse, are not happy with the vehicle or just don’t want it for any reason we will purchase the car back from you. We must be notified in writing of your decision to return the vehicle within seven (7) days of your receipt of said vehicle. The vehicle may not have more than 75 additional miles on the odometer from the time it left our possession and be returned in the same condition that it left. You WILL be responsible for a restocking fee that will equal 20% of the purchase price of the vehicle, no exceptions. You will also be responsible for shipping the vehicle back to our shop at your expense. Copyright © 1999-2015 MotoeXotica. All Rights Reserved.
