To the point, this is not a high-end Concours restoration (nut/bolt), nor is it a low budget build, this is a full restoration (powertrain, interior, body&paint). Look & Compare:There are a handful of these out there, but original white GT are a rare gem especially in this color combination. Title/Background:Titled and plated in Arizona, this is an all 50 state legal vehicle, and the NEXT smog exempt vehicle. Has CARB compliant modifications. This car has been in California pretty much its whole entire life, and currently stored in a warehouse. Overall Test Drive:For the most part, this car starts up on the first turn of the ignition. Depending on the airbox (choice of 2) the engine either idles at 800 to about 1000 rpm. Runs very smoothly with no unusual noises. There are no leaks that we have found, and all fluids are at recommended levels. On the road, I am able to go through the engine's powerband pretty efficiently, however when driven aggressively, it's apparent the carburetor needs tuning to match upgrades listed below. Factory jets currently installed for emissions with baffle.The transmission shifts through all the gears smoothly. On rare occasions, I found it difficult to go straight into reverse, so I shift to fifth, and back down to reverse. Based on my experience, is a common issue amoung most cars that use traditional style transmissions.The suspension I'm not too familiar with, but it feels stiff on the ride. There's a bounce when the vehicle encounters a harsh bump. Driving at 75 mph feels like a 100 mph. This car telegraphs more than modern day vehicles. Braking stops very well, no issues found. Personal Note:Driving this vintage, I cannot put in words. When I look over-the-shoulder while down shifting to merge on the freeway, pull into a gas station, or stop at a light, this car has this this cool element to it. Maybe it's the way the road feels in the steering wheel, or the positive shift of the shift ball before I release the clutch, the way it looks, its presence. Manual Steering Interior:Overall I would grade the interior an 8/10 based on the pros and cons listed below. The upholstery I would give a 9.5/10 since there are no tears, wrinkles, scratches, or creases, it's in excellent shape. The springs in all of the seats feel firm, and seems to have a good amount of bounce to them. The trunk looks fine. The engine bay looks normal also. I have not seen any cancer, holes, and/or rust in these areas.Pros:1. Kenwood sound system in the glove compartment. 2. Hands Free Phone via Bluetooth 3. 4 Way Racing Mirrors 4. New Shifter 5. New Headliner, Dashtop, Door Cards, A&C pillars are rewrapped.Cons: 1. Missing factory radio knobs, bezel around the shifter 2. Some of the bingo lights are on while driving (brake, electrostator, and oil) but vehicle drives normal, and fluids are all at recommended levels. 3. Dashtop needs to be secured to the factory dash Exterior:Overall score is an 8/10, also because of the pros and cons list. Original color is white, and it was repainted a 2 stage white, fitting. The body lines are very good, when opening and closing various doors, trunk, and hood, everything seems to line of very well. I went through the whole exterior, and was not able to find a dent, maybe some chips in the front area. The paint is very good, but it could use more post work like wet sanding since there are some orange peels. It's worth noting, the wheels were spray painted leaving a run or two, powder coating would be advised. Also, the white lines on the rim are decals, not paint. Overall, there are no indications of any rust, cancer, or holes.Pros: 1. Custom 2 stage white 2. Restomod halogen headlights 3. Shaved Mirrors 4. Chin & Rear Spoilers 5. Up for sale is my 1991 Toyota Celica STX Coupe. It currently has a little over 304,000 miles and is still running well. This car has been with me since my college days (graduated in 2000) and has never let me down. It burns a little oil and you have to keep an eye on its fluids but she still runs like a champ and starts up for me every day. I am still driving her to work every day (15 mile commute each way) so mileage will change from the time of this listing. She just needs some loving care and attention to keep her going. The paint is a little faded and the rear spoiler could use a new coat of paint. She just passed her last and final emissions test (cars older than 25 years no longer require emissions in the state of GA). For a 25 year old car with the original engine and 304k this car looks and runs great. As this is a sale from a private seller (I am an avid ebayer but I am not a car dealer) and the car is 25 years old, I am selling this As-Is. You should expect to have some maintenance costs for this car over the next few years but I have no doubt that it can go for many more miles and years (it is a Toyota after all). Additional Items of note (stuff a dealer would probably never tell you!) :The car has had the timing belt, water pump, and clutch replaced at around 200k miles. The clutch does not slip at all and the gears shift nice and smooth. Belts look fine upon visual inspection. As I said the car is running well but these are some of the maintenance items to consider when purchasing. Conventional oil and filter changes religiously every 3-4k miles since purchased. I always change the filter with the oil. This car does burn a little bit of oil and if you drive it over 70mph you will get oil blow by. Probably needs a rear main seal replacement if you want to drive at higher speeds. For city driving the oil loss is minimal. It passed emissions about a month ago on its first try and without issue.Tires are at roughly 30-40% tread life remaining. Front passenger tire leaks a small amount of air, I put my pancake compressor on it about once a week to keep the PSI up. Front bumper has a little bit of paint loss due to road rash typical for its age.There are a few minor parking lot dings on the side of the car - see pics. On its 2nd coat of paint which was applied about 12 years ago (MAACO). Could use a new paint job and clear coat if you want it looking like new. The sunroof motor is burned out. It is fully closed and does not leak, you just can not get it open unless you fix the motor/gears to the sunroof mechanism. The CD and tape player work well but the radio gets pretty poor reception. It needs a new antenna.Buyer is responsible for tax, tag, title fees associated with transferring title and registering the vehicle in his/her name. Early Z-cars, the Toyota 2000GT, and the Honda S600 are all seeing a resurgence in interest as the guys who enjoyed them as kids now have a chance to buy back their childhood. And this 1978 Toyota Celica is no exception, a spectacular 17,704 original mile car that offers wonderful driving dynamics and a handsome look that will bring back memories. And that's really what this hobby is all about: memories. Many of you probably remember cars like this being ubiquitous on US roads, but when was the last time you saw one? Wait, scratch that. When was the last time you saw one that wasn't rusted to oblivion? This one has been recently repainted, since the original '70s gold paint color wasn't exactly setting the world on fire, and we have to agree that the bright yellow finish suits the sporty Celica just fine. The bodywork is shockingly straight and clean and thanks to the low mileage, all the totally unobtainable parts are still in place and in excellent condition. Build quality is typical Toyota with nice gaps and neat trim and this car doesn't look almost 40 years old, does it? The styling has really held up well! The big black rubber bumpers don't look as awkward on this car as on so many of its contemporaries (I'm looking at you Mercedes 450SL) and the rear window slats are a performance look that practically defined the 1970s. Yeah, it's safe to say that we dig this car. The tan bucket seat interior is totally original, which, given the mileage, shouldn't be surprising to anyone. What is surprising is how modern it feels from behind the wheel, with supportive seats, a great driving position, and a slick-shifting 4-speed manual gearbox. The carpets are a little dirty and the horn button is missing, but the list of faults in this car is notably short. We love the little metal cages on the A/C vents, the bright, crisp instruments that look suspiciously like those in a 1970 Camaro, and the very 1970s compartmentalization of all the controls like the set of some sci-fi show. This one is equipped with factory A/C, which was surely incredibly rare in 1978, although it does need a recharge today. The back seat is well-contoured for two and really uncomfortable for three and under the hatch there's a huge storage area that offers nice carpets and a tie-down strap for your cargo. The 1600 cc inline-four isn't going to win many drag races, but it feels energetic and eager, moving the lightweight Celica with ease. Typical of Toyota, it's really packed in there, but thanks to its bulletproof reliability and low mileage, you won't need to spend a ton of time under here. It's quite stock, from the air cleaner assembly to the hose clamps to the decals in their proper places and its low mileage status is apparent everywhere you look. The 4-speed is a slick shifter and yes, this Celica is rear-wheel drive, making it a very entertaining handler on twisty roads. It's quite clean underneath with no issues and plenty of originality and the single exhaust system gives it just the right 4-cylinder buzz to match its look. Fresh Minilite-style wheels have been fitted, and they're exactly the right choice, especially with modern 14-inch Goodyear radials wrapped around them. Go ahead, try to find a nicer one. And don't laugh, because Japanese cars are the next big thing. No, this one won't make you rich overnight, but we'll wager that there will always be a line of guys eagerly waiting to own this Celica. Up for sale is my 2000 Toyota Celica GTS in silver with 116359 miles. I purchased the car at 111,000 miles about 3 years ago from Fenzel motors in Hampshire, IL. The car has been adult driven and garaged since then. The car has a clean title and is payed off, so if they buyer brings cash, they can obtain possession same day. Since ownership, the car has only been driven from April through September. I purchased the car to learn how to drive manual, which I mastered in a few months. Overall the car is in excellent running condition for its age and is a blast to drive. The car features the same motor as the Lotus Elise from 2005 (2zz motor). Because this is the 2000, the ECU redlines at 8200rpms. The 6 speed manual transmission shifts great through the gears. Cosmetically, the car is in good condition for it's age. The previous owner had incurred some dings/dents on the right rear/front fenders and door panel, though they aren't very visible unless you are looking for them. There are also a few dings/dents on the roof and tiny paint chips on the hood/front bumper. There is no rust on the exterior of the car. Interior is in good condition, with typical wear for the age on the front seats. Tires have about 50-60% tred life remaining. Brake pads have about 80% life remaining. Brakes perform well, no noise or vibrations.Below is a list of the maintenance items that were performed and/or changes that were made:1) OEM air intake was replaced with an aftermarket AEM generation 2 intake. The aftermarket intake allows for better airflow, particuarly at higher RPMs. Engine noise is only prevalent above 6000rpm with the new intake. I've also noticed improved gas mileage with this intake. I am including the original intake in the sale of this vehicle in case the buyer would like to revert back to OEM.2) According to the carfax, the clutch was done at 90k miles. Clutch feels solid.3) The engine oil was changed at 111,000 and 114,000 miles.4) Transmission fluid was drained (not flushed) at 114,000 miles and replaced with Pennzoil Manual Transmission Gear Oil (Synchromesh). This is the recommended street oil by monkeywrenchracing.com. After changing with this oil, transmission has noticeably smoother up/downshifts.5) I used (OEM) 1D0 touch up paint on a small part of the right rear fender.6) Car was detailed inside and out at Car Pretty in Northbrook, IL.Below is a list of issues that should be addressed in the near future:1) There's a very small leak in the sunroof liner. This hasn't been much of an issue for me because the car has been garaged during the wet seasons and I rarely drive the car in the rain. A new glass sunroof with frame can be purchased on the Newcelica forums for around $150. From what I've read, replacement looks like a rather simple DIY job.2) The shocks and struts look original and should probably be replaced in the next 20-30k miles. I recommend replacing these with the TRD shocks/struts (KYB GR2). For a more aggressive shock/strut, checkout KYB AGX. New shocks/struts should run around $325 for parts, and another $300 for labor.3) The radio works, but CD player does not. A stock player could be purchased for around $30-40 on ebay.4) On rare occasion, I have trouble shifting into 1st gear (shifter won't go into gear). It always engages on the second try (depress clutch, press again). From what I've read in the Celica forums, the linkage likely needs to be lubricated. This is a common problem on most japanese manual transmission cars with this mileage.5) The right rear tail light has a small crack in it from the previous owner. Light could be replaced with OEM for around $100.6) I've identified the cosmetic issues with red arrows in the pictures. These are not things that require immediate action.On a side note, if performing hard braking or decelerating into a turn, the car prefers a rev match when downshifting from 4th into 3rd. On very rare occasions it won't slip into 3rd when the engine is dropping revs fast. It's generally recommended that all manual transmission cars be rev matched to avoid excessive drive train wear.Also worth noting, the ECU will not allow the vehicle to engage lift until the engine has warmed up. This is by design. I have described the car with utmost honesty and clarity. There are a lot of dishonest people/dealers out there, and I have tried to reveal all problem areas so the buyer isn't caught off-guard; I should note that I am not an auto mechanic, so feel free to have the car inspected prior to purchase.
