Volkswagen capitalized on the overwhelming popularity of their Beetle by following “the people’s car” with a sporty sister: the Karmann Ghia. Produced from 1956 to 1974, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia shared the Beetle’s reliable running gear, but its low curb weight meant that the Karmann Ghia could still be a fun drive on the right road. But speed wasn’t what the Karmann Ghia was about. Instead, the KG’s strong suit was style, the coachwork was hand built by renowned German firm Karmann, the end result was a low-slung 2+2 coupe. The public’s response to the car’s introduction was so positive that production doubled shortly thereafter and the Karmann Ghia quickly became one of America’s most imported vehicles. while safety regulations motivated most of the car’s remaining visual changes. Mechanical alterations were mainly dictated by changes to the Beetle’s engine. Displacement increased in 1966 to 1300 cc, with horsepower rising to 50. This custom Karman Ghia is equipped with a 1835 cc boxer 4 cylinder engine, dual Dellorto 40IDF carburetors, braided line plumbing, deep oil sump system, chrome headers, A1 Sidewinder Exhaust, Kennedy Stage Clutch, 4 speed transmission with a Gene Berg quick shifter. 15 inch chrome Porsche alloys (with Porsche crest center cap) on 195/65-15 Continentals on all four corners These Volkswagen “Ghias” are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. I wanted a convertible sports car and choose the Karmen Ghia because if needed, repairs could be done at a very modest price compared to other foreign sports cars, plus the classic styling of the car is one of the all time best. I also found interiors could easily be changed out if desired, plus with a standard engine, insurance was very inexpensive. When we found it was 99.9 rust free and i still is to this day and there are a couple a paint scratches here in there so check the pics out. The entire body was painted to a Polar White, which basically is the same color as the hair on a polar bear, showing a hint of yellow/cream. The only rust was under the battery which I guess is quite common for the Karman Ghia's, he didn't cut it out and replace the metal, he ground it out, primed it and painted over it. Other than the wood sports car steering wheel, dash cover and carpet kit, the interior remained original from purchase which I believe is from the factory and the door panels, seats and headliner are in great shape for their age as this little gem spent most of it's like garaged. We also had a new convertible top made for it and installed a quiet but low and throaty muffler system and the top still looks new and goes up and down with ease and latches right up and there is also a custom 1000 watt stereo that plays cassettes, CD's and as you can see from the pic has been carefully wired with a great amplfier and crossover networks so you aren't wasting power by sending high or low frequencies where they don't belong. Here's what it needs:Plastic rear window is splitMechanic says the car needs head work but the low end is good so as of now car is not running4 paint chip's and they are smaller than a dime, don't know where that came from, garage living I guess. A rebuilt engine long block is about $1,400 and a rebuilt long block with new parts for about $1,700. This Ghia is in very nice shape for it age and is the more desirable model from the 60's as the 70-74 have the funky large lights and just don't have that same look. Look no further for a very nice Ghia that just needs a few more items done to be top notch .....It's been in storage for many years and I just dropped $1.200.00 (pics of receipt shown) into it a month ago to get rear brakes, carburetor rebuilt and a general overall maintenance check to make sure it's ready to drive without and problems once the new owner decided on the heads being swapped out for about $1,400 or just wants a fresh long block put in for $2,300 and both those prices are with labor. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this at anytime before it's scheduled end and as usual with a 46 year old car there is no warranty. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of the purchase and the balance via bank transfer or cashiers check within 7 days.

Up for sale is a restored, last year of production, 1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible that has been enhanced in its appearance using Porsche inspired performance, styling and design elements. The car has 46k original miles, but is showing 9k on the replace odometer. It has had 3 enthusiast owners since new, always loved, well serviced, adult owned, non-smoker, no accidents, garage kept, and no rust. It is in a restored, high number 2 condition that could easily be made to be a number 1, near perfect cosmetic shape and every surface on the car is very clean. I just installed a brand new high performance 1776 engine and the car runs, drives, stops and handles extremely well; everything is working and restored to a very high standard of quality. This Karmann Ghia convertible has the So-Cal look that will turn heads everywhere it goes and will easily win top honors at local car shows. I feel confident that it can be driven to anywhere in North America reliable. You can contact me at 972-207-1115 to answer questions or arrange for and inspection. I am a firm believer in knowing what you are buying, so if you are interested in the deeper description read on. Past ownership history of the car The first owner acquired it new in Kansas City Mo in 1974. This Karmann Ghia was originally painted orange. The first owner sold it in 1996 to the 2nd owner who was a medical doctor in Kansas City area. During the doctors 20 years of ownership the car received 2 major restorations, the first restoration occurred in 1997 shortly after he acquired it and the 2nd restoration was performed in 2008. During the second restoration the cars received a very high quality base coat clear coat paint job in Porsche Guards Red with black out trim and accents, showing very few flaws, some scratches, two small dings and a 1 inch paint crack, the paint is two footer. The car also received 2 ½ inch front spindle drop, Porsche Fuchs wheels, Porsche type color keyed sport mirrors, Bosch halogen head lights with flat lenses and a Porsche inspired painted metal dash with full accompaniment of VDO gauges including the large VDO Tachometer. The VDO speedometer was also replaced in 2008 and shows 9000+ miles The 2nd owner rebuilt the engine and transmission with high quality HI performance parts and drove the car for 8800 miles with a 1998cc engine. In 2015 the engine started to softly knock and he stopped driving it and I acquired it soon after. During my ownership the third and most recent restoration I sent the car's engine out to be professionally rebuilt by our local DFW VW Guru, Doug Crotts with Qualitat http://www.qualitatvw.com/ Doug performed the tear down inspection and found that a cam keeper failed and it was ingested by the engine, damaging the crank. Doug and I came up with a logical plan to rebuild the engine based on reliability and performance using a 1776cc configured engine, using all new parts and no expense spared. this time I preferred not to build a punched out engine that is prone to premature failure, but a mild performance 1776cc engine with quality parts that should last 100,000 miles. The cost for the engine rebuild was more than $5000 and was completed in October 2016. Here is a list of the engines new and rebuilt parts: New crank, the light weight Scat Flywheel was resurfaced and a new clutch was used, new cylinders, new rockers, tappets, new push rod tubs, new aluminum push rods, new pistons, rebuilt heads, new oil sump pump, new bearing, new plugs, new air filters, new belt, new crank pulley, recent starter, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new Bosh coil, new 009 distributor with electronic ignition, I also had the dual Solex carburetor's rebuilt. The engine also has a very beautiful, custom made, hi-performance, dual carburetor intake manifold that I left in raw metal and clear coated it, showing the perfect brass welds. It has a new motor mounts and rubber seal around the engine. I also used all new hose clamps, bolts, nuts screws and washers. All the engines stainless, aluminum, brass and bronzes parts were polished. The engine covers and air box was sand blasted and repainted in satin black. The engine has no detected leak oil leaks an when at hot idle shows 45 lb. of presser and 60 LB. at speed. It has a new EMPI Pee Shooter exhaust that sounds great. I have put less than 100 miles on the engine so far and have changed the oil twice and it running perfect, I am still in the engines brake in period and have not gone above 4000 RPM on the engine yet. Here is a list of other items that I replaced with new or recently restored: It also has newer rear axles, new KYB shocks up front, new Koni adjustable coil over shocks in the rear, new front spindle bearing, and new front brake pads. The tires are wide and low profile 15 inch in the front and 16 inch in the rear and have 95% tread life and are staggered in size, The car also has a new battery and recent generator. The interior has a nice padded dash with no cracks, nice gray carpeting and very nice door cards and interior plastic and trim. It has a new black Forever Sharp steering wheel with VW logo, The underside of the car looks like new and was wires wheeled, sanded cleaned and repainted with satin black and black undercoating. It has a recently installed a orange faced Blaupunkt Acapulco sound system with CD, player, Apple IPod interface and Blue Tooth. 2 ea. Pile Driver 3 way, 6 inch marine speakers in cases, mounted on the rear deck behind the front seats on a stainless steel bar, that sound loud and clear. Also included with the sale of the car is a new pair black RS Sport seats with a nice design that cost about $700 and a new black German Cloth convertible top with new headliner, costing over $650, but these items have not been installed. The existing top is still in good shape and so is the original seats, but with these items install the car will ne at or near number #1 condition. The car also has a usable spare tire, and some spare parts. There is an original owners manual and some of the records. Karmann Ghia History The Karmann Ghia body designed by the Italian design firm Carrozeria and hand built by German coach builder Karmann. The Karmann Ghia was an instant success. The car has had a very long and successful production run from 1955 to 1974. ("I couldn't find a sports car of my of my dreams, so I built it."-Ferdinand Porsche) The Karmann Ghia Convertible series began in 1957 and ended in 1974 In the last 2 years of production, the car benefited from later design enhancements such as, IRS rear suspension, traditional lug pattern and front disk brakes. A perfect future investment. Compare the rest, but if you're looking for the best, this is the one! I am asking $20999 or OBO for a way above average Karmann Ghia Convertible. 1969 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia A Groovy Kind of Love 1969 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Here's something you don't see everyday...a '69 Karmann-Ghia. It's a nice, cute, VW that's mechanically very good. It has been currently used as daily transportation around town. The motor is reliable, starts every time, and has had a recent tune-up/service. The California registration is current and the VW still maintains both CA six-digit blue/gold license plates. This Ghia was recently purchased from its long-time owner who bought the car in Los Angeles back in 1977. After 46 years, this classic VW still rides proudly in the essential Volkswagen tradition of being a simple, well-engineered, and economical vehicle. Exterior is black w/ a light blue top. The paint shines nicely and looks great from a distance. However, it has rust throughout, most notably on driver’s side rocker panel, decklid tops, and underneath on the pan. Finish has large paint chips and many flaws. The VW needs lots of interior work. This includes, but is not limited to: seats, door panels, headliner, dash pad, both window regulators, outer driver side door latch (handle), carpeting, speedometer. Ignition key switch needs to be manually turned back after starting motor, as the inner spring is broken. < The tried & true Volkswagen "upright" engine is in stock condition, with a single carburetor. This design is the traditional style used on scores of VWs for decades. This one always starts right up and merrily chirps along. It's been regularly maintained through the years to provide reliable transportation around town. A classic VW Karmann-Ghia is a good value in the world of collectible automobiles, as they are quite sought after, especially if it's an earlier year with the small bumpers and marker lights like this '69 model represents. This Ghia makes for a cool, run-around town (errands/coffee) classic, with lots of character! I wouldn’t even try to restore it. Just drive this vintage VW as is and get your money's worth in fun and cheap transportation, while enjoying all the "thumbs up" compliments you'll receive from admirers. This 1969 Volkswagen is being advertised in a Buy it Now, at $2,550 format. There is no auction, where missing out on a good deal in the last 15 seconds is a tragedy we all know too well. No, this vintage Ghia is being offered For Sale right now, at a disclosed price, so don't let it get away! For a full, detailed description of this fun and collectible 1969 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia, please send an email with your specific questions, or call. phone: (805) 801-2581 or email: [email protected] website To see additional Cars for Sale, click Current Inventory You’re welcome to inspect this vehicle in person, or have someone inspect it for you. Stated mileage of 01938 is the current odometer reading, but due to its age and broken odometer, this is not the vehicle's actual mileage. Volkswagen is sold with a clear California title. DO NOT BID unless you have the necessary funds readily available to pay for vehicle and you are SERIOUS about owning it. NOTE: seller may remove car early from auction as this vehicle is advertised elsewhere and may be sold before auction’s end Please keep in mind that when purchasing a used vehicle, most cars are not "perfect" and minor imperfections may be visible upon closer inspection. These imperfections may include, but are not limited to, small scratches and dings, rock chips, minor surface rust, small stains or tears in the carpeting, windshield imperfections, and wear on the seats. i purchased this 1973 karmann ghia coupe in 1989, in los angeles California; I am the second owner, the first owner having put approximately 63,000 miles on the Ghia. thus a 25 year relationship between car and man flourished; this car is a family member, with all of the requisite joys, disappointments, and surprises any familial relationship affords. I have travelled across America twice in Ghia; I have delighted in every single ride in Ghia, regardless of whether Ghia has, from time to time, not been able to get me all of the way home [ gas pedal cable break, shift cable snap, out of gas, and, indeed, just outside of Beaver, Utah, during BeaverFest [where grown men dress up as beavers], a blown engine ]. Sometimes, Ghia was beat up at the playground [ the challenges to keeping a perfect Ghia 'nose' are not to be exaggerated ]; I have always taken care of Ghia [ most of the records of maintenance, repair, and bodywork have been kept ] interestingly, Ghia has been earning her keep in recent years; Cooper Classic Cars in New York has regularly 'hired' Ghia for a variety of print and film work, including the J Crew Catalog, Target, and countless fashion shoots -- true provenance ! The unique aspect of this particular Ghia is that it is extremely well maintained as well as being a driven vehicle; granted, ever since the purchase of a Volvo C30, I have averaged a 10 mile trip about town once a month or so, this car is not locked away in some museum-like environment; it get outs, to see and be seen. Every little thing, from a faulty light, to the occasional mysterious noise, is lovingly fixed, or coddled , by Gene's Foreign Car Service in Broomall, Pennsylvania, Ironically, Gene's is the best 'doctor' Ghia has ever had; no California repair shop can even come close to the expert maintenance offered at Gene's. The fact is, it is time to allow this family member to fly the nest. I am not able to give over to Ghia the time it deserves to continue to see the world and be seen. I have given it one last spa treatment, overseen by Brent Morgan Motor Cars, in West Chester, PA. Ghia is absolutely glowing now. . .and I am ready to hand it over the lucky individual who will no doubt be celebrating Ghia's 50th year in 2023. With Ghia, you will blink and the years will fly by. . 4. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of close. This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: paypal. 6. I have represented this vehicle to the best of its ability. 7. Please be aware that all pre-owned vehicles, regardless of age, mileage, or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. I encourage buyer to have a personal inspection completed prior to delivery to help ensure your satisfaction. Third party inspections are to take place prior to a vehicles shipment or delivery. 8. All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied. 9. Final price does not include shipping, tax, title, or registration fees. It is the purchaser's responsibility to provide for any state or local taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale. 10. I assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once vehicle is in a shipper's custody. 11. I bear no liability and shall be held harmless for any complications, expenses, or damages resulting from a failure to meet these terms as they have been set forth and established herein.

However, it has rust throughout, most notably on driver’s side rocker panel, decklid tops, and some underneath on the pan. This 1969 Volkswagen is being advertised in a Buy it Now, at $3,450 format. Every attempt will be made to accurately describe the "overall" condition of each vehicle. Please note that it is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer to verify the accuracy of any statements that are made regarding the condition of said vehicle. There are no guarantees as to the accuracy of the descriptions made. Please call at 805. 801. 2581 if you have any questions. Thank you.

Kris Rodenbaugh (816) 352-2840 6639 E Frontage Rd Merriam Kansas 66202 ? ? ? ? 1967 Vw Karmann Ghia Vehicle Information VIN: 14715903 Stock: 19863 Mileage: 56,963 Color: Trans: Manual Engine: MPG: Drivetrain: RWD Description Take advantage of this rare opportunity to own this vintage classic car for a fair price! We are the "4th" owner of this car. This car was purchased by the 3rd owner right here on ebay! We verified by phone with 2nd owner that he believes the miles are accurate. In fact when he sold this car on ebay back in 2006 he advertised it as actual mileage! The overall original condition of this vehicle make it easy to believe this is correct. The 2nd owner found this in a barn and due to bird stains he had the car refinished by a dear friend that owned a professional body shop. He also did a complete motor and transmission rebuild when he owned this car for 15 years and sold it in 2006 again here on ebay! The 3rd owner owned this car for 8 years in which he purchased for $8,300 on a buy it now! Our owner searched high and low to find a true unrestored car in good shape without rust on the pan and every where else. Once again this car has been painted within the last 20 years. We have had to do some normal mechanical work to this car. The following work has been done by our trusted VW mechanic. Valve cover gaskets, complete tune up including plugs and wires. We also replaced the fuel filter, resealed the heads and oil drain tubes. Rebuilt the carb installed 2 new ball joints, 2 axle seals, new head lights, and left front inner tie rod end to make this car rund and drive like it would in 1967. A few more things we did was a new battery and total wax and polish to make this baby stand tall. There is some minor interior work that needs to be done. The only major thing to make this car better inside would be to stitch the passenger seat up. The owner of our dealership is deciding to sell some of his collection. We take pride in this car and you will too! Thanks for looking and if you have any questions please feel free to give me a call/text anytime 816-352-2840 ? ? He rented a three hundred square-foot office in the old Merriam, Kansas Gas building, which he shared with two other businesses. Josh, with the little money saved from buying and selling cars out of the paper, purchased vehicles out of the Autotrader magazine and the Kansas City Star. He then reconditioned them on his own and made sure the few cars he had in inventory were in prime shape. Trying to invent different marketing methods, Josh wanted a bigger presence in Kansas City with his 9-12 car inventory. He began having friends shoot photos of him waiving in front of his vehicles. Being that Autotrader magazine was the prime place to sell cars, with Josh waving in the photos, he was sure to stand out. In 1986 John Zaslavsky, a local small business owner who ran a shoe repair shop two blocks down the road came shopping for a car not knowing what he would find. Josh and John’s friendship began that day. Realizing each others' passion for cars, John began assisting Josh with buying and selling cars. Eventually with the growth of their business, the two formalized their partnership and John sold his formal shoe repair business. Very quickly, John and Josh learned that the tool necessary for becoming successful in the car business was a steady and reliable source for purchasing vehicles. The days of combing the classifieds had to go in order to grow. With the introduction of cell phones in the mid 80s, John had the idea of purchasing ten cell phones and passing them out to local new car managers at new car dealerships. He told them, “When you're trading for a car, page me, and I’ll bid it for you, then come buy it.” This new method appealed to the new car stores because previously, the only choice was to take their trades to the auction and risk loosing money on a weekly basis. Johns phone began ringing so much that less than a month later, he purchased a second phone to carry on him at all times. Now with an ever-growing and steady source for purchasing vehicles, Josh and John's business steadily grew from a 9-12 car inventory to over two hundred, forcing them to expand. In the mid 90’s, John’s brother and son began working as sales people, bringing new energy and ideas accelerating the companies growth. Today the two run the day to day operation of the company with John continuing to buy cars as he did in the 80’s but on a larger scale, and Josh continuing to inspect and work with vehicles to insure a quality product. With the relocation of the founding store, still in Merriam, now on 67th & I-35 and the opening of Country Hill Motors of Olathe, John and Josh have learned, “Achieving success in this business is knowing how to buy quality vehicles, and at what price. Therefore, if you buy it right, selling is never a problem. Passing the savings on to our customers, with our three to twelve thousand dollar price range, is simply what we do.” Terms Placing a Bid: Your bid constitutes a legally binding contract to purchase this vehicle. This 1965 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia is restored just the way you'd do it yourself, nicely finished and with a few smart upgrades that make it worry-free summer fun you can drive any time. Karmann-Ghia coupes are none too easy to find these days. Cabriolets, sure there are plenty of them, but the sporty coupe is arguably a purer design with far lower survival rates. This is actually a 1968 body on a 1965 chassis, but there's no downside to that because of the VW's awesome parts interchangeability. It's been thoroughly freshened, with good bodywork and gaps and a period bright blue paint job that suits the sleek little VW just fine. Details are what set the Karmann-Ghia apart from other cars of the period, from the tasteful little grilles up front to the wonderfully sleek greenhouse to the flared rear fenders that give it a substantial look; it's easy to forget there's a Beetle underneath. There's also plenty of chrome which is all in great shape, along with the bullet-shaped parking light lenses and Euro-spec front bumper that's a lot cleaner than the clumsy US unit. This might be the best-looking car you can buy for under $15,000. The upright Beetle becomes the low-slung Karmann-Ghia pretty easily and the low-back buckets look very appropriate. Wearing new vinyl seat covers, they're comfortable and in great condition. There are also new carpets, door panels, and headliner, although the back seat is best used for children due to the sloping roofline. The instruments are a bit more interesting than the standard Beetle, offering a separate fuel gauge and a clock, and the 4-speed manual shifter should feel familiar if you've ever driven a rear-engined VW. There is no radio, but that means you can install anything you'd like without having to undo someone else's work. The rear seat folds down and actually gives you a huge cargo bay, which works in conjunction with a good-sized forward trunk, all of which are fully upholstered in black carpet, giving it a very finished look. A freshly rebuilt 1600 cc air-cooled flat-four should be familiar to VW fans, and with dual carbs, it's a lively performer. The engine bay is nicely finished and it's obvious that the entire car was disassembled for the restoration. Things that a lot of cars omit, like the heater tubes and original Bosch ignition coil are still in place and it runs superbly. It also offers goodies like new brakes with a fresh master cylinder, a clean fuel tank, and a new clutch throwout bearing. From behind the wheel, it feels nimble with light control efforts despite manual steering and brakes and the experience is very different from the Beetle. Chrome wheels with standard VW hubcaps are just the right look and they carry recent Firestone radials all around. From long-term ownership, this VW offers restoration receipts and photos to document the work, making it a safe buy and one of the biggest bangs for the buck in any of our showrooms.
