Hopefully you know what a Phaeton is! It is both one of the world's best cars AND VW's biggest marketing blunder! It was decided in 2002 to produce a car to sell through VW dealerships that largely shared the platform of the new Bentley Continental (VW owns Bentley) and the Audi A8. Both the Bentley 12-cylinder engine and Audi's 4.2 liter 32-valve V8 were offered (Bentley now uses this engine, too) All drive through a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. They have sophistacted active suspension, traction and stability control and many, many advanced technological features. Why they thought many people would buy a $100,000 VW is a mystery, but at least the V8 model like this one was "only" about $85K new. If you aren't familiar with the car, please do some research--they were 9/10 of a Bentley Continental for half the money! This car was delivered new in Atlanta and came to its second (and current) owner in Denver 8 years later. It has never had any accident damage, seen no road salt at all, never been smoked in, no cracked fog lights or pitted windshield. It looks like a new car underneath, with only 61K miles. We have all the original owner's books, navigation discs, both key remotes and even an original 75-page Phaeton brochure that explains all the car's technology. It was a fourth car in the household and only used for pleasure trips, hence the very low mileage. It has a recent set of premium Continental all-season tires, is current on servicing and just got a brand new $200 battery. I had the exterior clayed, waxed and polished today and it looks like new. No stone chips on the nose because it has been protected with 3M ClearBra since new. It has always been garaged. The Anthracite gray leather interior looks, feels and smells like new--the grandkids always rode in the other cars--and there honestly isn't a mark on the interior. It has heated, cooled and massaging seats, incredible rear legroom, full navigation and terrific CD sound system. Retractable sunscreens on all rear windows, full-size spare wheel & tire, tools and not a door ding on it. I recently replaced the halogen headlight bulbs (they get dim with age). The genuine eucalyptus wood accents on dash and doors is unmarked and beautiful. No way this car should have ever been called a Volkswagen! Naturally, there has to be something less-than-perfect about it, but not much: the tire pressure warning light won't reset for some reason and so it stays on. I'm told one of the sensors inside a tire is likely bad. There is a very slight dent (with no paint damage) on the forward lip of the right rear wheel opening (see photo) that I have ignored for several years now. We hold a clear Colorado title for the car, in our names, and expect a $500 deposit via PayPal immediately with the balance wired to our bank within five days. This particular example has spent all of it's life with one owner in New York City, hence the extremely low mileage. As you will notice in the many detailed photos below, this car is just Beautiful!! It does have some chips on the front bumper, and some rash on the wheels. It has not been detailed or serviced! It is EXACTY as traded, and is being sold as is, without any warranty. It has a clean accident free Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title IT HAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE!!!! It is completely driveable, as I have done so for 200+ miles. Basically it has a very weak reverse and a kinda weak low gear. Reverse is OK on the level. This car WILL NOT back up a hill!!! It drives fine in forward, with low gear being a bit touchy at times. The Check engine light is on due to the slippage in the transmission. My local dealer says it needs a transmission. They want 20 hours to install a used one, of which I located for $800.00. I did not get a price for a factory unit. You be the judge. Maybe you know someone who knows something I don't! Maybe you can fix it for less?? Maybe just drive it as is?? This super rare (1 of 1433 in North America) luxury vehicle is in very good condition. One accident reported, no indication of the damage and since its rare the previous owner most likely fixed the car correctly if it needed such work at all. The issues are, the lcd screen in the gauge cluster recently malfunctioned works intermittent, the passenger low beam head light ballast appears to not function properly (replaced h.i.d bulbs) one trim trim piece on the rear driver side is missing along with the passenger dome light bezel. Mechanically the car is sound. It runs perfect and shift through all gear smooth. The interior is in excellent condition and the navigation and large screen works great and offers a ton of features! Front massage chairs, all kinds of very sophisticated upgrades way before its time. The exterior of the car i.e paint is in very good condition with minor blemishes. The frame appears to be strait and I have not seen or identified any frame damage. The Phaeton is hand-assembled in an eco-friendly factory with a glass exterior, the Transparent Factory (German: Gläserne Manufaktur) in Dresden, Germany. This factory also assembled Bentley Continental Flying Spur vehicles destined for the European market until October 2006, when all assembly of the Bentley products was transferred to Crewe, England. One accident reported, no indication of the damage and since its rare the previous owner most likely fixed the car correctly if it needed such work at all. The issues are, the lcd screen in the gauge cluster recently malfunctioned works intermittent, the passenger low beam head light ballast appears to not function properly (replaced h.i.d bulbs) one trim trim piece on the rear driver side is missing along with the passenger dome light bezel. Mechanically the car is sound. It runs perfect and shift through all gear smooth. The interior is in excellent condition and the navigation and large screen works great and offers a ton of features! Front massage chairs, all kinds of very sophisticated upgrades way before its time. The exterior of the car i.e paint is in very good condition with minor blemishes. The frame appears to be strait and I have not seen or identified any frame damage. The Phaeton is hand-assembled in an eco-friendly factory with a glass exterior, the Transparent Factory (German: Gläserne Manufaktur) in Dresden, Germany. This factory also assembled Bentley Continental Flying Spur vehicles destined for the European market until October 2006, when all assembly of the Bentley products was transferred to Crewe, England. Being German, VW designed the Touareg with high-speed autobahn travel in mind, using a unibody structure and a fully independent suspension with double wishbones in front and a multilink system in the rear. But it was also designed for serious off-road use. Volkswagen's 4XMotion full-time four-wheel-drive system is standard on all Touaregs. Torque distribution is 50/50 static, with torque automatically redistributed to the wheels that can best use it. Unlike many other luxury SUVs, the Touareg has a four-wheel-drive-low range for use in extreme off-road conditions. All safety systems--ABS, traction control, the ESP electronic-stability program, and the electronic differential lock (EDL)--work in four-low, although they may work a little differently than under normal conditions. Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist further help in tough conditions. All the four-wheeling equipment is of the modern variety, electronically controlled from inside the vehicle. While few Touareg owners will likely venture far off pavement, more will appreciate the Touareg V-8's 7,700-pound towing capacity (with trailer brakes). The four-wheel drive and the maneuvering aids can be as helpful backing a boat trailer down a steep and slippery dock as they would be in the North African desert where the vehicle's namesake tribe lives. Because of the positions of the intake and the exhausts and the construction of the drivetrain, the door, and the tailgate seals, a Touareg can ford still water up to 19.6 inches deep with the standard suspension. A 4.2-liter dual-overhead-cam 40-valve V-8 supplies power. It's essentially the same as the one in the V-8 Phaeton, but it's tuned differently and has a deeper oil pan for better oil circulation under extreme off-road conditions. Its 310 horsepower at 6,200rpm and 302 pound-feet of torque between 3,000rpm and 4,000rpm is enough to move the 5,300-pound Touareg from a standstill to 60mph in a claimed 7.6 seconds. Credit should also be given to the six-speed automatic with Tiptronic manual-shift mode and the fuzzy-logic-based adaptive shift control. The Touareg has the full suite of contemporary passive and active safety equipment. High-tensile steel is used in the structure around the passenger compartment, and the dual front, front seat-mounted side, and side-curtain air bags provide further occupant protection. If any air bag is deployed, the Touareg automatically unlocks all doors, disconnects engine electrical power, and turns off the fuel supply. The brakes are large four-wheel vented antilock discs. This model is equipped with the air suspension and lowers automatically by an inch when vehicle speed reaches approximately 77 mph. The Touareg can drive at a 35-degree side offset angle and has a 45-degree side tipping angle. Approach and departure angles are greater with the air suspension. The automaker says the styling of the luxurious, wood-trimmed five-passenger interior emulates that of its costly Phaeton sedan. Four-zone climate control is standard. Cargo volume is 31 cubic feet, or 71 cubic feet when the rear seat is folded down. A 4.2-liter V-8 that is similar to the one in the Audi A8 L mates with a six-speed-automatic transmission functions with Tiptronic control. The Touareg can tow up to 7,700 pounds. The tires are matching factory spec Michelins, they are in almost new shape. The brakes are in excellent shape as well, the car is smooth as silk on the highway and everything works as it should. The transmission was replaced by Volkswagen about 10k miles ago. This car can not and will not disappoint being that it only has just been babied its entire life. The interior looks immaculate and the exterior in beautiful shape as well. Non-Residents are not subject to the NJ Sales Tax. 9) Title Information: Vehicles titles may be held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments up to 21 days from the time we pay a vehicle off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing, there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive. If payment is made by cashier's or personal checks we will hold all titles for 10 days or until funds have cleared. 10) Shipping & Delivery: All shipping charges are buyer's responsibility, unless otherwise specified in the auction.
