Up for sale is an all original 1969 Ford Falcon station wagon. This car is equipped with a 302 ci V-8 engine and 3 speed on the tree manual tranny. I bought this car last September outside of Redding California. It has been in that area its whole life. I bought the car not knowing if it runs or not. Owner told me it ran when parked (we have all heard that before). I bought the car knowing if the engine is bad that I can replace fairly cheap. We loaded car on trailer and brought her home. I decided when I got home to go pick up a new battery and some gas and try to start her up. To my amazement the car fired right up. No knocks, no ticks, no smoke, no sputtering, and not even an exhaust leak. This car purrs like it should. I was pretty excited. I then decided to drive her up the road. I pushed the clutch pedal in and it went down like it should of but did not spring back. I guess I figured out why the car was parked. I figured clutch was bad. I got out of the car and I heard the clutch pedal jump back into normal position. I was surprised and called a friend and asked him about this and he told me it was very common for the old Fords to do this. There is a couple of plastic bushing in the clutch pedal assembly that wear out. They are $4 parts. You will need to pull the pedal assembly out to do this. Its not a big deal I was told. You can still drive the car, but if the pedal sticks, you just tap it with your foot and it pops back. When I bought the car, the tires had some dry rot on them so I bought a brand new set of tires for the car and had them installed. I have driven the car for about 40 miles since I brought it home. The new tires have only been on it for less then 10 miles. When we had car on lift we checked out everything underneath the car. and everything looks great. The car drives down the road straight and stops as needed. This is an unmolested car. This car still has the original paint job. As you can see in the pictures that the top of the hood and roof are faded. As for the body. it is fairly straight with an exception of some light dents and dings. The biggest dent is on the rear passenger door by the handle. This is a very easy fix for any body man. There is also a common dent on tailgate from where car was jacked up with the old style bumper jack and car rolls forward. The jack then leans forward and dents tailgate. I did it a long time ago, so I know. At one point someone did some body work by the rear window which I took a picture of. The car does have all of its original trim. There is a couple of dings by the rear window. The grill is in very good shape. The front bumper is pretty good also. The rear bumper is decent but does have a couple of dings in it. It also comes with a trailer hitch as you can see in picture. As for the interior, it is a California car, It could use some work. Its does need a headliner and seats recovered. The door panels are decent driver quality but not perfect. I do have a complete set of headliner bows included with the car for the headliner. The dash pad is cracked. I have bought a couple of parts for the car that I will include with it. Even though it is a California car, I have found a couple of common spots of rust. First is by the battery tray which is common on all fords this generation, There is a picture of it. The second spot is on the drivers floor about a 3 inch area on the left side, it would be an easy patch job. The third spot is on the bottom of the rear tailgate. It is on the bottom inside edge where the door closes. It is also and easy patch area. Everything on this car is rock solid. The rear tailgate either opens from the side or from the top. There is NOT third row seating. Car is has all four of it poverty hub caps (my favorite feature of car). This is an original V8 car with NO power steering or brakes. There is no air conditioning either. This is a great 45 year old car. This car was brought back from California last September and has never seen salt. The car is now located in Kenosha Wisconsin. It is an hour north of Chicago and a half hour south of Milwaukee Wi. Buyer will be responsible for shipment of vehicle or picking it up. I will not quote any shipping costs. That will be your job. I will help shipper as needed to load vehicle. I have a clear California title for car. I will require a $250.00 deposit via PayPal at end of auction. While travelling to northern Wisconsin last summer, the wagon finally turned 30,000 miles. Just 30,300 miles in 45 years doesn't seem possible, but this car has been protected and dearly cared for over the last 5 decades. I purchased this phenomenal cruiser with just 25,000 on the clock and it has been one of THE best running, driving cars I have ever owned. This Olds wagon was purchased new in May, 1970 by Les Connor from Frink Olds-Chevy in Ashland, Oregon. Les was in his '60s when he purchased the wagon and as he grew older, the car changed hands. At one point, it resided in Texas, but found a longer term owner in Ohio, which is how I found it. I've actually owned this wagon twice. I regrettably sold it one time many years ago, but fortunately had a chance to buy it back for a 2nd time about 3 years ago. It's one of those vehicles that just grabs you once you drive it. Only other restoration projects bring the opportunity for a new owner. Our family has enjoyed this Olds wagon immensely. This is the vehicle we take on a 4 hour trip to northern Wisconsin each summer and it cruises at 70-75 mph without a hiccup. One look underneath this beautiful car tells the story of where it has been and the pampered life it has led. Please remember that these wagons were purchased like we buy mini-vans today. Kids spilled and threw up in these wagons all the time and they were used as baseball backstops in the driveway. Somehow, this Cutlass wagon has emerged unscathed, with just over 30,000 miles on the clock. This is one of the most solid, untouched cars you will find. Original runs and overspray of its original Aspen Green color adorn the undercarriage . The factory "blackout" treatment used in some assembly plants on the front suspension parts can still be seen on the oil pan. There is still the green dip that the e-brake hangers were coated with to prevent rattling on the floor. Also note in the photos that the body mounts still have their factory stripes and color to them. When is the last time you saw that?! The doors shut with the slightest touch, and all the weather stripping is there and soft. There is no evidence or rot or scale anywhere on this car top to bottom. A survivor in nearly every aspect, the Olds wagon has had one early enamel repaint in its original Aspen Green color. The paint still shows very well, with a few nicks, scratches, and a few high spot thin spots that can be expected from a nearly all original, survivor car. The enamel paint has a factory look to it, though, and some "modeling" that's seen in so many factory metallic paint cars is evident on this wagon too. The interior has survived over the years to an almost unbelievable condition. It looks as if it never made a trip to the lumber yard, let alone ever hauled any kids to little league practice. I added a arm rest front seat and had the original pattern matched. I do still have the original seat which has a split seam that just happened last season. Please note in the photos how nice all of the interior hardware is. Even the factory fastener screws have their plastic washers intact! The A/C was converted years back to 134 and works fine. The car has a posi rear of unknown ratio and a W-27 cover. The exhaust is a nice set of duals, which have a nice mellow tone and exit on the sides. I added the NOS wheel covers and double line whitewalls for the straight out of the brochure look (note the brochure photo in the pictures.) Restored (blasted and painted) rally wheels are under the hubcaps if the new owner ever decides to go with that look on the car. The manual rear window and 2 way tailgate operates perfectly. Car has the light group, disc brakes and a hood lock. This is a fly in, drive home car as that is what I did when I bought it back several years ago. We have enjoyed it immensely, take it on regular family vacations and literally load it up with cargo without hesitation. Simply put, this is a car you can get in, drive, and enjoy. No excuses, no long stories, just a rare, sharp car that you can enjoy in good weather. I've also been an eBayer since 1998 and take pride in only receiving positive feedback over the last 17+ years. I've owned dozens of cars over the years and have made many sight unseen deals (many here on eBay) to buy or sell cars across the country. In addition, I strongly believe in the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The Internet has allowed us in our hobby to search for cars nationwide and it's my hope to make you as comfortable as possible with this purchase. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to care for this truck for the last two years and I personally took all of the photographs and video (my sister helped with the videos). Please sit back with your favorite beverage and enjoy the lengthy description, 6 video links, and 270+ photos of this incredibly special, true survivor, Born-With Big Block / 400 Trans, Factory Air, 1972 Chevy Cheyenne Super Pickup. How Does A Big Block Cheyenne Super Survivor Come Out Of The Woodwork? I purchased this stunning Cheyenne Super from a gentleman in Iowa a couple years ago. He purchased it from the son of the owner who had it since 1975. My understanding is the 2nd owner was a farmer and saw the truck sitting on a Chevrolet OK Used Car lot way back in '75. The Dark Olive paint and Cheyenne Super package really caught his eye and he made a deal to bring the truck home from town. With mileage in the low 30,000 range, the idea was to use this pickup as his "going to town" truck. However, the owner was used to driving straight-6 powered Chevy pickups and wasn't thrilled about the big block's gas mileage. Remember, this was the gas crunch and fuel was expensive! The truck was soon parked in the barn and was used sparingly for the next 25 years or so. In the early 2000's, the elderly owner's son wisely decided to resurrect the Cheyenne Super. It was tuned up, got some new tires, and got back on the road. With mileage now in the 45,000 range, the truck started to see some car show and cruising duty. Finally, in 2010 or 2011, the truck was sold to the gentleman I bought the truck from in Iowa. What is consistent with all owners over the years is the understanding that this truck wasn't just another C10. Everyone understood how special this truck is and went to great lengths to honor its heritage and make sure it wasn't left to the elements. In addition to the glove box SPID showing all options, I have the original dealer inspection sheet for this truck. This piece of documentation is incredibly valuable, as it has the engine and transmission serial numbers on it, which match the numbers in the photos I provide. I have no reason to believe this truck doesn't have its born-with drivetrain. Typically, this wouldn't be that important with a C10, but since this is a big block truck, I went through the work to show photos to document the born-with items. Overview I thoroughly enjoy driving this pickup whenever I get a chance. If you've read this far, you know how hard it is to find a documented, unrestored, big block, Cheyenne Super. It's a true survivor, well cared-for pickup, with what I believe is 100% original paint and just over 53,000 miles. The factory Dark Olive and White two tone paint scheme is among the most attractive combinations on these Chevy trucks and I get compliments whenever this truck is driven. I've attempted to be extremely careful with what I replaced on this truck, so I could honor its unrestored state. I've replaced items on this picked that absolutely needed it, like: spark plugs, wires (correct date coded wires installed), correct reproduction hoses, and tires. However, I've gone to great lengths to keep this truck as unrestored as possible, so you'll see paint missing on the engine block and the wheel wells aren't going to be dark satin black. I've done the engine compartment paint & undercarriage detail route with cars in the past, but I felt like this wasn't the right way to honor this truck's unrestored state. If the new owner decides to go in another direction, that's completely their choice. This wonderful pickup gets a ton of looks at local shows and cruise-ins and I also don't hesitate to drive it on longer, 80-90 mile round-trip cruises. The pickup starts, runs, and drives very well. The original, single stage, Dark Olive Metallic paint has been professionally conditioned and polished to a swirl-free gloss and shows VERY nicely. Note the photos showing the high level of reflection from the paint and note that indoor photos are also included to show how well the truck shines under fluorescent lights too. Also notice throughout the photos that this original pickup has many original factory markings on the firewall, brake booster, alternator, springs, tie rod ends, etc! Although this truck was undercoated, I've been able to uncover a bunch of these original markings and more are bound to be discovered. Options What makes this truck so special is its long list of scarce options and unrestored state. Take a peek at the photo of the SPID and see how well optioned this truck is! Factory options include: Cheyenne Super Package 402 Big Block (Chevy listed this as a 400)Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission4 Season Air Conditioning (Blows Cold!!!)AM/FM RadioWood Floor in BedTinted GlassTach and GaugesWheel CoversHeavy Duty Rear Leaf SpringsPower SteeringHeavy Duty Battery Mechanicals To get this truck in shape to be driven more regularly, it has been treated to a full tune-up. This includes: · AC Delco plugs· date coded wires · cap · rotor· condenser· points · radiator hoses· heater hoses · belts · fuel filter· thermostat New whitewall tires were also installed and have less than 200 miles on them. I have receipts for most of these items. The brake pads look good and the truck rides quite well. I don't believe the truck is in immediate need of mechanical work. However, the truck is 43 years old, so your interpretation of what might be needed may vary from mine. The AC currently blows cold and still runs R12 refrigerant. I had the truck filled when I purchased it (4 lbs of R12) and it was about a pound and a half low this spring. It was topped off by a professional at that time. The AM/FM radio works, as does the cruise control. The volt meter, oil pressure, speedometer, and tach gauges all work. The temp gauge is not working, but I believe it needs a sending unit. I have it and will install it before selling. Also, the fuel gauge starting acting weird after I purchased the truck. I installed a new GM sending unit, but this did not solve the problem. The gauge works, but the gauge shows half full when the tank is full. The gauge then moves down from there. The lights, directionals, reverse lights, and brake lights currently work. The horn works too. Exterior I've owned a bunch of survivors and early repaint vehicles in the past. I'm never too cocky to put absolutes on anything, but I and several restoration experts agree that this truck is an untouched, original paint, survivor. The truck sat indoors, so the paint has absolutely incredible shine and depth. It was treated to Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze paint conditioner, followed by #205 polish to bring the paint to a fathoms-deep shine. Note in the photos the light surface bubbling starting in a few areas on this truck, which I would consider incredibly normal for an unrestored vehicle. I haven't used any trick photography angles (we've all seen these clowns on eBay) to hide anything on the truck. What you see is what you'll see in person. The Cheyenne woodgrain trim shows very well, as do the door handles, and window trim. The chrome is survivor quality and has good shine, but don't expect triple plated show chrome that we see on restored cars. Please note the original rivets holding the grill in place and note the small crack in inner grill. Correct Power Beam headlights still guide you home at night. The factory tinted glass is VERY nice, with just the windshield showing very light wear. Also note that the truck has two auxiliary fuel tanks installed on it, but both have been disconnected and just the factory fuel tank feeds the big block. Interior The unrestored interior is as original as the exterior. The factory houndstooth seat cover is dynamite and shows just a little wear on the driver's side vinyl side piece. The carpet also shows minimal wear, along with the dash and headliner. the Cheyenne Super woodgrain trim is in great condition, and the steering wheel shows wear consistent with a 53,000 mile truck. A spotlight has been installed since the 70s and an aftermarket cruise control system was installed too. The cruise worked last summer, but forgot to try it when I put the ad together. Everything in the interior basically shows very well and is indicative of a truck that spent A LOT of time indoors. What else can I say? Engine Compartment & Undercarriage I really dig these unrestored old cars and trucks, so I resisted every temptation to start painting parts on this truck. It would have been easy (and still would if that's your style!) to do a complete engine compartment restoration for some added pop, but I wanted to honor this survivor for what it is. I haven't touched up anything, other than replacing mechanical tune up parts. Even the underside of the hood has been degreased and waxed, but not painted! The same goes for the air cleaner and inner fender wells. That's all original paint you see. I explained above that the drivetrain is born-with, but I haven't gone further with the truck. I'm assuming the Quadrajet and other items are original, but I'm not interested in decoding every item on the truck. If you need me to check something, let me know. The battery is a new reproduction from Battery Restorations, not just a battery topper. Yes, the battery has been charged properly, with a 10 amp charger. Underneath, the truck has been lightly cleaned in areas, but I again resisted painting the frame rails, wheel wells, and things like that. The best way I can describe the undercarriage is that's it's midwestern. There's some scale from the moisture in the air up here, but it's obvious that this truck wasn't stored out in the elements. The undercoating is original and you're not going to find a "black out" treatment with this truck. That's not how I wanted to honor this truck. Please take note of all the factory markings on this truck, which is super cool! Can You Drive It? Well, that's the point, right?! This truck drives wonderfully and I think the next owner will be pleasantly surprised by how well it tracks and drives down the road. The truck has power steering and power brakes, which helps its drivability tremendously.The truck starts easily after setting the choke and sits on high idle for a minute or so. At that time, you can kick down the quadrajet and the truck idles well. Seriously, it runs VERY, VERY well. The Turbo 400 tranny shifts positively and without hesitation. I believe it's very healthy. In addition, I've taken this truck on several longer drives (40+ miles each way) to weekend cruise-in's outside town. All I can say is that it's an absolute pleasure and does NOT feel like a lumber wagon like so many older pickups do. My sister shot the videos while we driving and even she commented on how comfortable the truck is. I think you'll be impressed. POSITIVE:My Land Cruiser always starts and idles perfectly in any type of weather from negative -10 to a hot humid day of 95. Clear title in my name and there has never been a loan on it. I have receipts that prove I just put $500 in 2 months ago for brakes, new starter and some back bumper fabrication. In the past 5 years, new battery, alternator, brake pads, radiator, clutch work and transmission fluid/filter. The air conditioning does not work, front windshield has a large crack in it, the rear (back) side door does not open well. The tail gate only goes half way down and the parking brake does not work. Rear window with the stickers has scratches and held together with special temp reducing tape. Tires are old but still have a lot of tread on them.
