Serious buyer only! I am selling my 1979 Datsun 280ZX with only 91,000 miles at the time of this posting. Mechanically this car is in excellent condition. Engine runs and idles great and the automatic transmission shifts great. Fun car to drive!!! I am an older gentleman and bought it from an older gentleman who was a collector of autos and motorcycles. · The car has a brand new Rhode Island inspection sticker in May 2015. · Oil and filter has been changed along with a new air cleaner. · New battery and lead cables installed. New rear hatch struts installed. · I had my mechanic go through this car completely in May. · Four brand new raised white letter tires installed, high speed balanced and front end alignment done. New steering pitman arm also installed. Have all the paperwork to prove this!!! The gentleman I bought the car off told me that the car has been repainted by the former woman owner to the white color you see (from originally a brown color that she did not like). The paint was done correctly as the jams were painted also. There is light surface rust in some areas, looks like some older filler starting to raise in some areas and some minor dings and a slight indent and crack in the paint on the front quarter panel easily repairable etc, but overall a solid car and the paint still maintains its shine.Lifting up the hatchback carpet the car underneath is solid and looks like new!!!Drive it as is or if you want to enter it in car shows I would recommend having the light bodywork done and repainted. Please remember this is a 36 year old car with an older paint job. Recently I took it to a Nissan/Datsun event and the auto repair guys could not believe the condition of the car for how old it is. The interior of the car is in good condition as you can see from the pictures. Someone at some point installed a new carpet in the car and the seats are in good condition. The dash has two cracks (as usual for an older car) but they are not too bad. Headliner looks like it was replaced and is in excellent condition. The door panels look in good condition also. There are no warning lights on. From what I can tell all gauges work as they should except for the trip odometer and the clock which is usual for these cars. The power windows work, locks, wipers, lights, blinkers etc. work with the exception of the light in the head liner (might just be a bulb). Even the airline(map) light works. The passenger power mirror does not work but the driver’s power mirror does. The windshield fluid sprayer does not work (common) but there is power to this area because I can hear it when you press the control. The heat works, the a/c is not blowing cold and I believe needs a recharge. The radio and antenna has power but I can only get an AM signal and the antenna mast is not going up. Honestly I would replace the radio and antenna. To the winning bidder I will include a newer modern radio if you want that the previous owner had in the car. For authenticity reasons I had the original radio re-installed (unfortunately its missing a knob). Overall for the year, in my opinion the car is in good condition. Even my mechanic was surprised at the condition of the car!!! Please remember, the car is 36 years old. I have tried to accurately represent the condition of this car but it is impossible to attempt to describe every little blemish etc. You are welcome to inspect the car before bidding. Datsun bored out their L26 inline six to up the displacement and created the 2.8l inline six L28. This car boasts 170bhp! The inline 6 makes quite a bit of power and runs very well thanks to a couple updates under the hood. The fuel rail has been updated with Jegs rail as well as the MSD ignition system. This Z also has an upgraded aluminum radiator to keep everything cool. A brand new aluminum header and exhaust have been added to allow just the right note when driving. These mods have been done with the most taste and quality to help maintain the overall originality of the car. The car has a very strong 4-Speed manual transmission that shifts perfect. a 1978 black pearl edition. as the years go on these cars have been getting harder and harder to find. the black pearl marked the end of the z car line just prior to the zx line which were starting to be produced in june of 1978. this car is a very late may 1978 production making it one of the very LAST Z cars ever made. although i do not know the vin of the last one , the very late production of this car does make it last or near last z car ever made.approximately 800 were originally produced, and 1 was given to each dealership as a showcase car. current registration statistics estimate that less than 200 still exist, so this car is very quickly becoming extinct.this car marked the first time z cars were produced in black. it had some alloy wheels and unique stripping and was color code 638. these cars do have some historical significance. this car is a matching number- 5 speed with ac which is cold. the car had been sitting for some time , it is originally from south carolina so it did not see much snow or sale. a car this age we cannot verify the mileage. the car does start up and runs very smoothly. the brakes are low. the car is 99% complete missing a knob , i have the window handle just needs the clip. floors are very good no rotted areas. almost rust free andbody is good but does have a couple of areas of minor blistering. really could use a paint job but not much else. Know as the “Japanese Corvette” the 280zx Turbo was an engineering pinnacle, boasting powerful performance, wrapped in a sexy, smooth body design and an ultra comfortable interior, with almost no extra cost options, as they came loaded with features. Over the years the Z went from a small no frills little sports car, to a highly polished and powerful GT tourer. The turbocharged 280ZX used a single Garrett AiResearch TB03 with an internal wastegate, and no intercooler. Nissan’s design philosophy at the time led to boost being limited to 6.8 psi (0.47 bar), despite the lowered compression of the turbo engine (7.4:1 with dished, cast aluminum pistons). Additional changes over the naturally aspirated engine included a higher volume oil pump, an oil cooler on automatic models, and Nissan’s Electronic Concentrated Control System (ECCS). Series II and Series I. At the time of its release into the US market, the 280ZX turbo was the fastest Japanese import on the American market. Which brings us to our Z. The exterior is very nice. The body, refinished in the original Fox Silver base/clear paint, and reproduction “turbo” graphics have been applied in their original locations. The body is free from dings and dents, the doors, hatch and hood all fit correctly. All of the glass is clear and crack free. The body on this car looks fantastic and doesn’t show its age. Moving under the Z, the area where most Z cars suffer, you will find a VERY dry and clean bottom. The rails have not been crushed from lifting it on racks over the years, which is very common to see and weakens the structure of the Z. This is one of the most solid Z car chassis we have seen in a while! The interior is unbelievable! The factory grey Velour seats are present and hardly look as if they have been sat in. The door cards are clean and the vinyl is not cracked or split on the top door rail, where they are most commonly worn. You can convert it if you would like. I have put approximately 25K on it since I purchased it, and would not hesitate to drive it back in Oregon if need be. He put the tires on it for me since he knew I would be driving it 3000 miles back home and while not bad, they might be a concern (if driving to Oregon). The tread is still decent, but they are almost 10 years old. The ONLY issues I am aware of would be two rust spots (see pic) at the bottom edge of the windshield. As you can see, I removed the paint and coated with Rustoleum to prevent farther damage. Unless you stand right over the car, you won't see the spots. There are the 'normal' rock pecks and such from traveling. Only one at the left headlight assembly that I consider mentioning (see pic). The left rear interior corner material has pulled (see pic). Very normal for these cars. While not perfect, I would have to give this an 8 or 9 out of 10 in overall condition. It never fails to crank and NEVER fails to turn heads! I am not a dealer. 1980 Datsun Z-Series 1980 Datsun 280ZX 10th Anniversary Edition

I am the 2nd owner of this black & gold 1980 Datsun 280ZX. It is number 2473 of 3000 of the 10th anniversary edition cars. I have owned the vehicle 9-1/2 years. I purchased it in June of 2007 in Farmington, Michigan from the original owner. It was stored in a warehouse there with other classic cars. It does not get used very much as you can tell by the low miles, 9421 miles. It has won it's class 3 times at the Japanese Classic Car Show (2007, 2008 & 2016) in California. It won 1st place in the Z division in 2015 at the Huntington Beach Concours Car Show. The car is always garaged or stored in a car trailer. All original paint. I have the original pinstriped Goodyear Wingfoot tires I use for car shows. There is plenty of tread on these tires and they are in great condition for 36 year old tires. Because of their age, I have been told it's not recommended to use them for regular driving. The wheels have the correct 10th anniversary wheel caps with chrome & the burnt orange color around the Z emblem on the caps. All other 1980 ZX's had standard chrome & black caps that still are available today. I have an extra set of tires (BF Goodrich Radial TA's) and 280ZX wheels for normal driving use. Since the car is originally from Michigan, it was undercoated by the dealership when purchased new. I had one of these anniversary cars when I was about 19 years old but couldn't afford to keep it. This one brought back great memories for me and I have enjoyed many car shows with it but I'm moving on to different things these days.
