The styling combines the traditional upright grille with a streamlined body, to create one of the best-looking cars of the period, no matter the manufacturer. This unusual two-door sedan with its integrated trunk is a neat look that remains faithfully original today. Many of these tudor sedans have been turned into hot rod over the years, but this one is more about an honest 1930s experience. The gently rounded fenders with their peaked crease through the middle, the highly detailed hood vents, and practical yet stylish trunk with integrated rear-mount spare tire, it has all been transported intact from 1936. Finished in Henry Ford's favorite color, high-gloss black, it looks sensible, and nicely finished, with a nice red pinstripe to give it a high-class attitude. It kinda looks like a tuxedo, especially with the whitewall tires. All the original brightwork is intact - from the neatly dipped bumpers, to the original door handles, to the blue-dot lens taillights. It even still has the big, bold, V8 logo on top of the grille. The interior looks thoroughly original right down to the gray mohair fabric on the buckets seats and doors. Ford's advertisements in 1936 praised the "Center-Poised" seat position, for the easy riding comfort, and today we'd just call it nicely plush. Even for its age, this car is a great cruiser. The steering wheel is well-worn from nearly 80 years on the road, and so your hands fit nicely into grooves that were created over generations of drivers. Every button, dial, and knob is period-correct, to make this Ford feel like a time machine. There are even plenty of spare components that come with this car to keep it feeling like it's frozen in time. Open the hood, and the honest feeling continues. The 221 cubic-inch flathead motor is the ionic V8 that earned Ford its powerful reputation. This one has been dressed up with a few chrome accessories, such as the head bolts, air cleaner, and radiator piping, to attract the car show crowd, but you can still tell this motor is more about being a '30s machine than a hot rod. There's a similar situation with the new dual exhaust that still makes that unmistakable flathead sound. Most people would think twice about a journey in a car from 1936, but this one has been restored and maintained to be quite practical. The motor was rebuilt 2,000 miles ago, and it runs good on regular fuel. The three-speed manual transmission, combined with a new 3.55 rear end ratio makes this tudor versatile on the highway. Very unique chopped top. The roof is actually two halves of the roof from a Volvo station wagon, custom fit to the cab. This gives the hot rod a one of a kind look. Meticulous body work was done. Even though the top, as well as the paint, was done years ago, there is no cracking, shrinkage, bubbling, or popping. The finish still maintains a glossy shine. There are a few typical mars and chips from driving and showing, but overall the paint is in very good shape. Rear wheel wells are finished in Torch Red gravel guard. There is one rub mark that is visible in the photos in the rear driver side wheel well. A set of larger rear tires were originally mounted, but did not fit. There is one slight bump in the body work on the roof, just above the windshield wiper at the drip rail. This a solid bump, not a paint or rust bubble. I don’t know what it is, but it appears stable. Solid mount windshield. Tinted glass all the way around. Glass is in very good shape, no cracks or major scratches. Dual billet sport mirrors. Single windshield wiper. Correct headlamps. Coolamp tail lights with blue dot lenses. Headlights and tail lights work. Brake lights work. Third brake light. Turn signals work, and are custom fit into the front and rear nerf bars. Door gaps are consistent. Volkswagen door handles. Vintage Cragar S/S five spoke wheels. Standard width on the front, wider on the rear. P225/60R14 radial tires on the front. Comp Cams custom grind hydraulic camshaft. .501 lift. Comp Cams hydraulic lifters and roller rockers. J+E 7.8:1 blower pistons. Forged crank. H beam rods. Melling Hi Flow oil pump. Dual Holley 750 CFM blower carbs mounted on a Dyers 6-71 supercharger, with Dyers linkage. Blower was personally rebuilt by Gary Dyer. Taylor Pro Wire 8MM silicon wires. MSD Pro Billet distributor. 100 amp alternator. Electric fuel pump. The mechanical fuel pump is still bolted on, and is used as a crankcase evacuation system. Hedman block hugger headers, custom exhaust, and dual Supertrapp mufflers. Baffles have been removed from the mufflers. The mufflers were restricting the exhaust flow of the engine. The car is loud. Walker brass radiator with thermostatically controlled cooling fan. Engine runs within correct temperature range, does not overheat. Dynoed at 469 rear wheel horsepower. B&M straight pattern manual valve body Turbo 350 with 3300 RPM stall converter. Heavy duty driveshaft. Ford 8” rear differential. Posi Traction. Richmond 3.23:1 rear gears. Moser rear axles. AM/FM radio. B&M Pro Ratchet shifter with lockout lever. Dash is in very nice condition, with aluminum inserts. The cabin area is functional, very comfortable, and easily accessible. In the current configuration, the rear fenders and running boards could probably be mounted. However, with the engine setback and suspension configuration, the front fenders won’t fit. Also, the hood will fit over an unblown engine, but not the blower engine that is currently in the car. NOTE: Like most street rods back in the day, the original identification numbers were stamped on the frame and engine. In the old days, titles were reissued without vin numbers on the cars, because engines were changed and frames replaced or boxed. Laws changed through the years. In 1988, proper procedure for Illinois was followed to update the status of the vehicle. The car was inspected by the National Street Rod Association, inspection sticker applied, and tag displaying original VIN number affixed to firewall. Vehicle is legal, with clean, clear Illinois title that has been transferred in the past. The same procedure is followed today with new street rod builds, except the police now assign a Secretary of State (SOS) vin number. NSRA inspection sticker still affixed to windshield. Illinois is one of the more strict states as to titling street rods, so I assume this car would be street legal in all 50 states. However, if you live in a state that has odd titling and inspection laws, check with your DMV before buying the car. Glass looks good and all functions as it should. Decklid has had some repairs in the past that are beginning to show. New running boards. I can find no rust (other than surface rust) in the car, top or bottom. Engine appears to be a 1941 Ford 221ci flathead with recently added (within 1,000 miles) dual Stromberg 97 carbs on an Offenhauser aluminum intake manifold. Also added were Navarro aluminum heads and Red's headers with Smitty's mufflers. Suspension appears to be mostly stock with a few hot rod upgrades. Front and rear is lowered with Posies reversed eye lowering springs. Front and rear tube shocks added. Wheels are the original wide fives with Firestone 700s in the rear and 550s in the front. Newer gas tank.Interior is as original and in good shape. Drivers side of the bench has some fabric pulling loose and passenger side seat back has a broken pivot bracket that will need to be welded. All original gauges operate with the exception of the temperature gauge that has been unhooked in favor of a modern gauge. Lights work. Interior is clean and very presentable. This car has been 7 years in the build. I built it for touring and running around town. This is an AR model, with left hand emergency brake, 21" wire wheels and red steering wheel. An excellent driver. Engine has counter balanced crankshaft, high compression head, touring cam. Float- a-motor mounts. New front axle and spring. F-100 steering box with shortened steering arm. 12 volt alternator and electrical system with main disconnect switch, turn signals and three stop lights, one on each fender and a LED in the back window. Halogen headlights. Modern day hydraulic shocks. Excellent chrome throughout, most of it was replaced with NOS parts or new parts. Chrome stone guard. Car has about 3,000 miles since it was finished. The car is all steel, no fiberglass. Comes with a car cover and gas tank anti-spill mad. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to pull the add if it sells. A $1,000 deposit through PayPal is required within 24 hours. Car must be paid for within 7 days, the car will be released after all funds have cleared.
