[email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1959 Nash Rambler American Frame Up Built Rambler American Wagon 347 V8 C4 Heidts Power Discs Vintage A/C Year: 1959 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: White Mileage: 3805 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 347 V8 Interior color: Red Vehicle Info Until recently, many people believed America couldn't build a decent small car. But, like most anti-Detroit rhetoric, that mindset was perpetuated by folks who really didn't know what they were talking about. As early as 1950, AMC president George Mason believed small cars had a real future on U.S. roadways. And, when the recession hit in 1958, the company's management decided it would be an ideal time to perfect their Rambler American series. Fast forward 56 years and this professionally restored resto-mod is certainly some of the coolest metal to ever roll down an assembly line. Thanks to its remarkable combination of Ford power and simplistic style, the car sits at the pinnacle of unique. And, if you're a cultured enthusiast who's looking for exclusive, historically significant iron, it's the chrome-clad masterpiece of your dreams! Loosely based on Nash Motor's Nash Rambler, the Rambler American was introduced as an entry point to the brand's more profitable senior models. The GM PPG White example you see here is a rust-free California car that was stripped all the way to bare metal during a professional restoration that was conducted by CAM Auto Creations of Phoenix, Arizona. Its classy, curvaceous body reflects a smooth two-stage finish that exhibits minimal signs of wear and no major defects. $5K worth of re-chromed and polished trim looks every bit as good as the day it left the showroom. And, despite what some might call awkward proportions, this graceful classic is both striking and handsome! As a vintage car connoisseur, you simply can't go wrong with '50s-era steel. Take a look at this gorgeous wagon and you'll see detailing that walks a fine aesthetic line between the hand-crafted feel of its '40s ancestors and the radical, sometimes cheeky appearance of its '60s offspring. At the front of the car, an American-exclusive grille centers a racy "R" emblem between visored headlamps, small parking lights and a wraparound bumper that's complete with modern driving lamps. At the sides of that grille, a pinstriped fuselage flows through classy "American" scripts, unique door handles and a chrome, "R" branded fuel filler. At the top of that fuselage, a curved windshield and fresh greenhouse back a cool hood fin, a standard mirror and straight stainless frames. And behind that greenhouse, a "Rambler" branded tailgate anchors chrome hatch hardware between inverted tail lights, a second wraparound bumper and large, stainless exhaust tips. Toss this classic's domed hood and you'll find 347 cubic inches of stout Ford V8 that produces roughly 250 horsepower. At the top of that bright orange mill, a polished air cleaner marries wind with fuel supplied by a small Motorcraft carburetor. That air/fuel mixture makes its way from a cast iron intake to cast iron heads, which hide under attractive, polished valve covers. When those heads flood the cylinders, a Flame-Thrower coil and proven Painless wiring sequence fire through a traditional points distributor and 7mm High Temperature Conductive Silicone Core cables. As combustion is sparked, resultant gases are jettisoned through compact, cast iron exhaust manifolds. And that combustion's cooling is provided by a beefy aluminum radiator, which stores water in front of large-diameter puller fans and a March serpentine system. As with any expertly built custom, the car's clean engine bay is fully detailed and ready for show. And it all adds up to one super sweet small block that looks right at home centered between a fully finished hood and body-matched fenders. Naturally, this American's fully-finished body rides on a fully-restored chassis that's been assembled to exacting standards. The smooth small block torques a tough C4 3-speed, which spins a familiar Ford 8-inch. That proven drivetrain pushes a 1.5-inch lowered suspension, which tracks a high quality Heidts Mustang II front-half with custom leaf springs. Turns come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power-assisted discs and drums. At the center of the floor, 2.5-inch true-dual exhaust breathes through aluminized pipes and throaty Magnaflow mufflers. At the corners of the chassis, painted steelies turn 215/70R15 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around polished trim rings and red-detailed center caps. And everything, from the car's hidden brake booster to its undercoated floors is well-planned, well executed and ready to work its magic! The spectacular cockpits in '50s-era Detroit iron need no introduction, but here goes. Flip this Rambler's bright chrome handles and you'll find a classy, Dynamat-lined interior that stays completely true to the car's tasteful detailing. Rebuilt bench seats are all-day comfortable and feature supple hides that fit well and feel great. Beneath those seats, soft carpet frames billet foot pedals next to clean kick panels and textured sills. At the edges of that carpet, flawless door skins anchor small black armrests between body-matched toppers and correct chrome hardware. At the front of those skins, a curved dash is layered in glossy paint, correct telemetry and controls for Vintage Air conditioning. Above that dash, a correct headliner frames controls for Custom Autosound acoustics. The driver spins a black steering wheel around a chrome horn ring, an "R" branded centerpiece and a polished gear selector. And passengers store their essentials in a freshly finished cargo hold that features era-correct luggage. Combining a high quality restoration with acute attention to detail, this incredible wagon is some of the best metal your money can buy! Add in the car's smooth drivetrain and instant 'wow' factor, and it's virtually guaranteed to win both trophies and fans. We all know it's becoming increasingly tough to find unique, highly exclusive classics. Don't miss your chance to own one of the coolest Ramblers ever restored! You are bidding on a 1965 Rambler 550 Classic 2 door sedan. The body is solid, with the exception of the floor pans.. See pictures. I just bought this car with the intention of making a driver, but decided that 6 cars are enough. The motor runs good. The trans shifts as it should. The seats have been reupholstered, the door panels, dash, and headliner are all in very good condition and are original pieces. The trunk is solid. It has good glass, manual drum brakes, and power steering. This is one of 7082 Classic 550 2 door sedans built in 1965. Please call Richard with any questions @ 856-305-7789 cell, or 856-692-8714 house. This car is for sale locally, therefore I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. 1970 AMC REBEL MACHINE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE!!!!!!!!!! The following is an article done by musclecars.howstuffworks.com on the Rebel Machine. This article does not feature this car, but does give a nice description of these unique cars. The 1970 AMC Rebel Machine took American Motors into themidsize muscle car field. It wasn't the quiet entry it might have been. As evidence, there exists in the AMC archives a photo of a different, more sinister-looking midsize muscle proposal. The photo is of a black coupe with authoritative black wheels and fattires. No stripes, no scoops, no spoilers. Its body rakes forward in an aggressive, street-fighting stance. On the fender is a decal. It shows two gears chewing out the name of this macho prototype: "The Machine."Muscle Car Image GalleryThe photo is dated June 1968, and the car is a '69 Rebel. AMC's high-performance sedan efforts for '69 were focussed on the Rogue-based Hurst SC/Rambler, a brashly decorated compact as overstated as the black Rebel concept was understated. The SC/Rambler didn't survive into '70, but The Machine did. It was not, however, the malevolent rebel promised by the prototype, but a red, white, and blue jukebox of a car, clearly in the spirit of the SC/Rambler. "You have to say this for American Motors," observed Road Test magazine, "when they get their teeth into an idea they pursue it with a vengeance."©2007 Publications International, Ltd. The Machine's 390-cid four-barrel made 340 bhp and breathed through a Ram Air system that employed a vacuum-controlled hood-scoop flap.Luckily, The Machine was a pretty good performer. Like the SC/Scrambler, it used the AMX's ram-air 390-cid V-8, newly souped to 340 bhp. In its journey from concept to reality, The Machine gained a big hood scoop that served the engine via a vacuum-controlled butterfly valve. A Hurst-shifted four-speed was mandatory and came with a 3.54:1 axle. AMC's limited-slip diff was a $43 option, with a genuine DetroitLocker and ratios up to 5.00:1 available.©2007 Publications International, Ltd. A Hurst-shifted four-speed was standard. Note the tachometer integrated into the raised fairing on the hood scoop. The Machine was one of Detroit's most stiffly sprung muscle cars. Its extra-heavy-duty suspensionincluded firm station wagon rear springs, which elevated the tail and helped account for the raked look. With E60x15 tires, cornering ability was top-notch, but rear-axle juddering off the line prevented the willing, lightweight V-8 from propelling the car into the low-14-second range. The Machine turned out to be a one-year-only model, and after building the first 1,000 or so, AMC began offering it sans stripes and in any color. It still wasn't the menacing machine of that '69 photo, but buyers could at least get the steak without quite so much sizzle.Return to Classic Muscle Cars Library. For more cool information on muscle cars, check out:Even AMC, the champion of the economy car, caught muscle car fever. Bill of sale only. Mostly complete with mostly great glass, nice bumpers, all stainless & includes flying lady hood ornament. ODO shows 58,889 and is probably correct. The car sat in a field for 30+ years so the floors are shot but very little beyond surface rust on the body. Big dent on the left front fender and a small crease on the left quarter panel. Very straight doors as this was a rural car so very little parking lot exposure. I have a file full of info I've gathered on the car. Very rare car. Very few with Auto & A/C. This is a very rare car. A/C became available in Ramblers in 1954 due to their acquiring Kelvinator ( I believe) in '53. Only high end cars like Caddies and Chryslers had A/C in '55. Chevy didn't even offer A/C until '56. I've been watching ebay for a year and have only seen 3 other 55 Rambler wagons with this equipment. Mine is thousands cheaper. I would love to redo the car but already have more than I can handle. I really just saw an opportunity to save this one from oblivion. I would like to see it go to someone who appreciates its unique character as much as I do. Damaged or missing: Upholstery is completely shot. A full set of NOS replacement seat covers go with the car. Floor pans are gone. Front pass window is cracked. Rest are good. I removed the loose stainless but it should be all there. Missing complete left suspension. Missing both front brake drums. Have 3 rare full coverage hubcaps. Missing A/C compressor. Fuel tank is rusted away. Very minor rust in the rockers. Haven't tried to turn the 196 flat head 6 cyl. Bound to be full of acorns ,etc from the mice. No air cleaner. Many more pix available on request.
