THE VAULT CLASSIC CARS Offers this beautiful 1967 Mercedes-Benz 600 Limousine - one of only 1,917 Left hand drive Limousines ever produced, and one of only 2,677 total MB 600 produced - rare and exclusive indeed! . This example is a documented 2 owner California car since new, with the original sales contract ($22,500 new !) from Mercedes-Benz of San Diego, with all original books and continuous service stamps in the owner's book - from Mercedes Dealers in the early days, and then Mercedes marque specialists more recently. It is fully operational, and a delight to drive! I drove this car from San Diego to my showroom in Fullerton, CA, and it was one of the best drives I've had in a classic car! This car is so smooth, so comfortable, so stable and so powerful that it's amazing even today! Mercedes-Benz set out to build a car head and shoulders above everything else, and they succeeded! . Resplendent in its original color dark blue (Dunkleblau), riding on excellent Michelin tires, and telling the world you have arrived in style and comfort. . Designer Bruno Sacco, who was also responsible for the 230/250/280SL Pagoda roadsters, put down the lines for the Grand Mercedes - the Grosse Mercedes. He made a striking and purposeful impression with a combination of traditional Mercedes elements and the use of crisp, modern, clean lines and liberal use of glass. . There's the original sales contract. Lucille Nichols took delivery, although it was titled to Charles Brass, her son-in-law. . . Celebrities, industrialists and world leaders flocked to the Mercedes 600. A few examples of original 600 owners are Ringo, George and John - 3 of the 4 Beatles - the king of Sweden, Elizabeth Taylor, Mao-Tse-Tung, who had somewhere between 13 and 25 MB 600's, Leonid Brezhnev, Coco Chanel, and the royal family of Belgium! . Impressive traditional Mercedes Grille . Excellent Michelin tires - also note the ride height, the air assisted suspension is operating properly. And this car is factory equipped with 4 wheel power assisted disc brakes! . Extensive use of wood was a luxurious touch. The wood in the car is original, some of the pieces have been refinished. . Note the drapes for rear seat privacy . The Mercedes star hood ornament is bigger on the 600 - to match the proportions of the car! . There is the M100 6.3 Liter Overhead Cam Fuel Injected V-8. It is the original engine to this car - the engine number 100.980.12.000637 is listed on the original owner's book as the original delivery motor, and we verified the number on the engine itself! . . A/C compressor on the right side, recently upgraded to R-134 refrigerant and working nicely! . On the left side are the air compressor, power steering reservoir, and hydraulic system reservoir. . . Spectacular wood trimmed dashboard, with tachometer and instruments and warning lights, all of which work properly! . Inviting leather seats and beautiful original wool carpeting! The interior is all original with exception of the driver's seat which was redone in the correct leather. This shows how nicely the car has been treated throughout its life! . The dashboard is a work of modern art! . Amazingly nice! Note the original Becker radio is included with the car. . Note the glovebox courtesy lamp works! . The knob on the left controls the temperature for the A/C system, and the 3 levers direct the air and the fan speed. The switch above is for the cowl vent - which is the only thing on the car that I found didn't work. . Rear seat in the actual original leather! The seat is hydraulically adjustable using a switch on the door, and it does work! . Early versions of the MB 600 had power door closers, which pulled the door completely closed. Later versions like this car did not have the power closers. . The passenger side. . Excellent! . Another thoughtful feature - the rear window wind-wing, to keep the air blast away from the passengers when the window is down. . Comfy headrests for the rear seat passengers, and another view of the luxurious wood trim. . Here's a good shot of the original steering wheel. . Luxury and the height of style - then and now! . Driver's arm rest has held up really well. Also note the big chrome trim for the inner door edge. . Privacy curtains and rear shelf with A/C vents. . The trunk is clean and tidy. The trunk lid is hydraulically actuated, by pushing or pulling a lever just below the trunk lock! . Here's the spare and rear A/C unit. The tool roll has many but not all of the tools. . Even the open end wrenches say "Mercedes-Benz" . Impressive factory literature, including the large illustrated parts book at top - in German, English, French, Spanish and Italian! Also the owner's manual, a compact repair guide, the owner's service and warranty book, and the workshop manual. . Here are the stamps in the owner book - starting, of course, with 300 test miles at the Daimler-Benz Werk Sindlefingen! Then we see it at Mercedes-Benz of San Diego. . As the mileage increases, service is recorded . Service at Heinz Gietz Autohaus, inc during the 1970's . The 1990's, at German Motors . And up through the present at German Motors. The current owner put almost 50,000 miles on this car since purchasing it in the late 1980's, and he's kept it in tip-top shape and in the care of expert professionals. . All of these service receipts from 1989 to the present, as well as some from the original owner are included in the sale, as are of course the Mercedes-Benz books shown earlier. . If I were to identify a weakness in this fabulous car, it might be the paint, which was done in 1989. There are a few places that show checking on the hood, roof, and rear deck surround. There are some stone chips at the very front of the car. They don't show up in the photos but they're there. Show judges would notice, but most people would not. . . The book "600- Der Grosse Mercedes" by Wiedmaier & Knetsch talked about the Car and Driver comparison test. "Car and Driver Magazine tested 6 cars in 1965 - the Mercedes 600, Cadillac, Lincoln, Rolls-Royce, Imperial, and Jaguar. There were a total of 54 Criteria and tests to pass, for half a year the vehicles were assessed for their performance in both weekday and weekend traffic. In declaring the Mercedes 600 the winner with 466 points, the testers wrote: " The Mercedes 600 has proved to our complete satisfaction that it is the finest automobile in the world!" After personally driving this beautiful and well maintained car - and having driven all of the other 1960's cars listed in the Car and Driver test - I have to agree with their opinion! . . This 1953 Chrysler Imperial Custom C58 with COLD FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING is absolutely beautiful, runs and drives almost like a new car, and is loaded with options and fully operational! The Custom was the top of the line 6 Passenger Imperial, and it was Luxurious indeed, a worthy competitor to Cadillac, Packard and Lincoln! 331 Hemi V-8 Power, Air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, Solex heat-resistant glass and 15 Jewel Moparmatic steering wheel clock by Benrus! . Air Conditioning was a very new feature for Chrysler , having just been introduced in 1953. Almost every part of the Imperial design was different from the standard Chrysler, there are many, many differences that make this car special including the grille, side trim, fenders, and much more. It is a subtle and tasteful design, and in person the high quality of the restoration shines through, I can't emphasize enough how well this car was restored. . An imposing view! All the better because the chrome and trim looks like new! This car was restored in the 1990's and still looks fresh today! Here's a video showing the Imperial in Operation! . . I spoke with one of the former owners about the car's history. He told me it came from Phoenix, Arizona originally, and stayed in the Phoenix area until early in the new century. It was always a nicely preserved, well cared for car, which had significant restoration work done in the 1990's, including paint, chrome, and some of the interior. The car was too nice to need a total restoration! The 53,900 miles showing are thought to be original, as are the doorpanels. . Black shows everything, and this car wears it's black suit with pride, look how straight the bodywork is, and how deep and reflective the paint is! . Absolutely stunning - better in person than in the photos if you ask me - and extremely rare. . Jade Green Interior is gorgeous! Note the horn center mounted Mopar-matic Clock! . Gorgeous! . Rich wool and leather patterned doorpanels, with lovely woodgrain accent. Note the power window switch. . The lap of luxury in 1953 ! . Beautiful! . Here in the back shelf are the Air Conditioning Vents. . Fold-down armrests front and back! . CHRYSLER FIRE POWER! Hemi power in all it's 331 cubic inch V-8 glory! That engine is both powerful and smooth! And the 2 cylinder A/C Compressor is mighty impressive too! . Excellent engine bay. . The power steering pump is mounted to the back of the generator. Note how clean and nicely maintained it is, with fresh looking hoses, fan belts and the like. . This engine runs beautifully! The transmission works great too, it's a later Chrysler Torqueflite 3 speed automatic, upgraded recently. . Beautiful wheels and Goodyear wide whitewalls! . Extremely high quality restoration work over a dry Arizona car with the extremely rare Factory Air Conditioning! For Sale 1951 CHEVY Styline hotrod . This car was built by Scott Norton of Norton's Customs in Huntington Beach. The build process can be seen on his web site at Nortonscustomsteetrods.com, just click on Mark's 51 and you can see detailed photographs of the car in addition to other cars he built. This project was a partial body off restoration and extensive work was done for frame reinforcment and to set up for a 350 motor and transmission. The car has had the motor, transmission and rear end rebuilt in addition to having a new radiator, all engine accessories, carburetor etc. replaced. The rear end has 2:73 gears so the RPM's at freeway speed are reasonable. The suspension was installed by the BAGMAN in Anaheim and is a four link rear and a Mustang tubular front end along with an Accuair E-Level air ride system with sensor levers on all four corners. The car handles and drives superbly. The car has been painted in a two stage color similar to a deep Burgundy or Merlot color. The custom scallops were painted and pinstriped and then a clear gloss was painted over the work. A second pin stripping was added along with other painted features. All the custom paint work was done by Dave Wittle of California Design in Norco, CA. The car has a heater and does not have AC since I live in so cal and usually drive with the windows down. The wiring is all new with over 20 relays controlling the various components. All the bullet switches control the various electrical devices and there are 4 additional switches that are available to operate future components it they are added latter. The wheels are new by Wheel Smith and the front covers are 1953 Cadillac hub caps that have been altered to fit. The front seats are 1964 T-Bird seats covered in white leather. All the trim on the seats was removed and polished. The rear seat is stock and covered in white leather as well. The center console is a custom piece made of translucent Corian and has red LED lights placed inside the unit. The photographs on Norton's site show what the car looks like at night when the lights are turned on. All the chrome was re-plated. The top has been chopped 5", the hood has been filled and pancaked, the lights are frenched front and back, the doors are electronically operated and also have an emergency release cable installed and the drip rails have been shaved. Please note the shift knob that is on the car does not come with the car. I will provide an alternative to the new owner. I will be at the Father's day L.A.
