For past 12 years while he owned it, it was kept in heated garage and driven occasionally on the weekends, it is solid and rust free. Doors closer perfect, car fires right up and runs very smooth. The suspension is all new and it floats on the highway . When I purchased this car originally I had no intention on selling it, it was for my wife. I had most of the car gone through to make it into a perfect driver for her but it's just a hair too long. Hopefully it will find a good new home. LANCE REVENTLOW As verified in SAAC Registry documents, CSX2032 was billed from AC cars to Shelby American on 10/24/62, and shipped to Los Angeles. Also verified by SAAC documents, invoiced to Lance Reventlow on 1/2/63. Reventlow, the only son of Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton, was a well known Formula One racer. Through his corporation, Reventlow Automobiles, he was also the distributor of the Scarab, a revolutionary open wheel race car designed by Tom Barnes and Dick Troutman. The Reventlow ownership is the most debated subject concerning this vehicle. There are four major versions exist: 1) Reventlow purchased and raced the car; 2) Reventlow purchased the car at the request of his father, to lure half brother Richard home from Europe; 3) Reventlow purchased the car to give Carroll Shelby’s business a boost, because they were friends and had business dealings concerning the Scarab venture; 4) Reventlow purchased the car, not telling his family, and had it put in storage. Truthfully, no one will ever know if any of these scenarios are true, or if there is another explanation. Most participles in the story have passed away. The speculation and guess work is a moot point. The fact that Reventlow was the original owner of CSX2032 is undeniable. Documents in the SAAC archives include invoice from AC Cars to Shelby American, Shelby American invoice in his name, and an invoice in Reventlow’s name for plates and registration. Invoice includes check numbers. It matters not how long Lance owned the car, how much he drove it, or if he did or did not race it. The documents prove positively that Lance Reventlow was the first owner of CSX2032, and there lies the provenance on the vehicle. There is absolutely no positive proof to the contrary. Historical research could not uncover any information concerning this business. SCU in that time period referred to the very well known Sports Cars Unlimited in Canada. SCU was owned by renowned Canadian Formula racer Bill Brack. Sports Cars Unlimited served as the Lotus distributor for all of Canada, as well as a source for all rare and exotic sports cars. It is unknown whether the Canadian dealership took possession of the car, or if there was in fact a SCU Lotus Central Foreign Cars dealership in Michigan that owned the car. At any rate, during this time period, the first color change was applied, from white to red. OWNERSHIP IN THE SEVENTIES: In the late sixties/early seventies CSX2032 was purchased by Don Burgess, of Cedar Falls, IA. Burgess advertised the car for sale in August of 1974, listing it as an AC Cobra 289. It is unknown if Burgess did an engine change or just mis-advertised the car. Bill Kemper, of Barrington, IL. purchased the Cobra in the fall of 1974. This was a short period of ownership, but documents reveal at this time the Cobra definitely had a 289 engine installed. It is unknown if Burgess or Kemper are responsible for the engine change. The engine was described as a Hi-Po 289. Now the car was painted blue with black trim. At this point, large round Cobra badges and 5.5” wire wheels were still on the car and fiberglass scoop had been added. Kemper listed the car for sale in 1975. At some point, white stripes were applied. Inaccurate information was supplied to SAAC for this period, and the record is corrected here through new information obtained in owner interviews. Ressman has been incorrectly credited with the first restoration on the car. Mr. Ressman owned CSX2032 from late 1975 until summer of 1977, but did not restore the car. In the summer of 1977, William Hansen obtained the Shelby in a trade deal with Ressman. Mr. Hansen was living in Waukesha, Wisconsin. In this period of ownership, the vehicle actually fulfilled the original intended purpose, competitive racing. Hansen participated in several competitions at many high level racing venues, including Elkhart Lake, Michigan International Speedway, and Blackhawk Farms, winning the majority. His choice of restorer was world renowned Cobra expert Bill Murray of Murray Racing, Longmont, CO. Bill Murray raced Cobras in SCCA, and his shop performed remarkable restorations. Mr. Murray repainted the car in black, an undeniably elegant color that graces the car to this day. Gold stripes were added to match Hansen’s Hertz Shelby GT 350 Rent-A-Racer. Bob Prouty built the engine. To dispel another rumor, the car did not have a K code competition type 289 Cu. In. engine at this time. The basis for the build was a non K code 289. However, an extreme amount of head work, machine work, installation of a Holley 780 CFM to replace the Holley 600 CFM, camshaft change, etc. elevated the performance to Hi-Po standards. Interior was changed to beige/saddle. Several upgrades were installed at this point. Mr. Murray was instructed to upgrade the Cobra to a level consistent with competition models. The narrow wire wheels were replaced with the wide wire wheels. This allowed the installation of larger Hoosier D.O.T. tires. Fenders were also flared slightly for tire clearance. Ballanger headers were connected to chrome side pipes. Side vents and an oil cooler duct were also installed. Mr. Hansen reveals that he actually stripped the paint from the car personally before delivering it to Murray. All three original colors- white, red, and blue were still present on the original body. Hansen also opted not to disturb the original chassis, as only approximately 40,000 miles had been logged. Hansen himself drove the car to Longmont to meet Murray. When Hansen advertised it for sale, the vehicle had approximately 43,000 miles. In the summer of 1979, Hansen sold the car to well known Cobra collector Joe Rodman Jr., Glenshaw, PA. OWNERSHIP IN THE EIGHTIES: Rodman kept the car for a while, then in the mid-eighties sold it to John Prokell, Bentleyville, PA. Records do not reveal any major modifications during this period. Also unknown is how many miles were logged during this period. It remained black with gold stripes, tan/saddle interior, and modified 289 engine during this period. OWNERSHIP IN THE NINETIES: CSX2032 next appeared on the showroom floor of Essex Motorsports International, CT., circa 1992. Herm Rosenman purchased the Cobra at an auction in Princeton, NJ in late 1993. Rosenman lived in Cherry Hill, NJ. During this ownership, the second significant restoration was performed. The body was repainted, again in black. The interior was dyed from tan/beige to the original red color. He also installed four twin choke Weber carburetors. George Sicz,of Toronto, CA. purchased the car from Rosenman in early 1997. A back injury spelled a short term ownership for Sicz. In late 1997, early 1998, Peter Klutte of Legendary Motorcars in Milton, Ontario, CA. took possession. LEGENDARY MOTORCARS: During this period, several modifications were made to the Cobra. This included, but not limited to, authentic Halibrand kidney bean alloy racing wheels, Goodyear tires, large racing numerals, competition style fuel filler with rear cowl splash shield, front fender spats, Raydyot competition mirrors, quick-jacks, and yellow racing stripes over the right front fender. CSX2032 appeared at the R&M Auction in Monterey, CA. in August, 1998, high bid was not accepted. Later, the Cobra was advertised for sale as a Factory Competition Car. Although possibly thought to be true at the time, this is now known to be false. As stated earlier, CSX2032 was not manufactured as a Factory Competition Car. The vehicle was ordered with certain competition options, but also several luxury options that would not be present on a Factory Competition Car. Shelby American never raced this car. In fact, only approximately 13 of the 260 Cu. In. cars were built as some form of Competition Car. SAAC updated the description of CSX2032 to Factory Comp Optioned, or Factory Competition Optioned Cobra. During this period of ownership, some refreshing and upgrading has been performed. Still finished in black, but sporting a black interior. The competition brakes and rotors were redone. Also, the original frame and chassis, which had never been restored, were cleaned and refinished. The current owner of this beautiful automobile stores the vehicle in a secure, climate controlled building. The vehicle is currently in highly detailed, mechanically sound condition. SUMMARY: To summarize this lengthy history, here is an overview: CSX2032 can be correctly labeled “The Lance Reventlow Cobra.” CSX2032 left the factory with a 260 Cu. In., 260HP Hi-Po engine. As optioned, CSX2032 can be correctly described as “Factory Competition Optioned.” CSX2032 is one of only seventy three 260 Cu. In. Cobras, of that one of 62 street cars. CSX2032 has a winning race record from 1977-1978, first made public in May, 2015. CSX2032 has a more lengthy ownership history than most, but all are documented. Currently a 289 Cu. In. engine built to Hi-Po type specs is installed in the car. Extensive documentation and historical provenance is in the possession of both SAAC and several previous owners. A long time California truck, it retains its rust-free original chassis and engine, is believed to have traveled a mere 59k original miles and is as solid mechanically as it cosmetically clean. The Series IIA is widely regarded as the most enduring Series model constructed, both in terms of its mechanical and physical ruggedness and the perception the public has of the Land Rover marque in general. In the 1960s, dozens of films and documentaries showed the western world far away locales for the first time, almost always made accessible by someone driving a Series IIA. In many ways, it was during this period that Land Rover built its continuing legacy in the minds of the public and this IIA is the perfect representation of that. Aesthetically the truck is in excellent condition, the desirable and recently restored Pastel Green finish marred only by the most minimal of imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in the photographs. The galvanized trim beautifully defines the body, which retains factory correct panel fits and gaps. All of the window and door gaskets were replaced when the truck was painted, and, we should mention, the Limestone hardtop is as fine as the rest of the body's Pastel Green finish. Lastly, as a well-cared-for California example, the original chassis is unsurprising entirely solid and free of any harmful corrosion. The interior is also in great shape, the black seats showing only minimal wear and the interior paint virtually flawless throughout the front cabin, rear storage/seating area and the floors and station wagon ceiling. The dash is clean and straight forward with working gauges and switches, the rubber floor mats are new and the truck has new retractable front seat belts. The truck also has its front center seat and a full set of rear seats, however, while usable, they have not been refurbished. The IIA retains its original tried and true 2.25 Litre Petrol 4 cylinder engine that starts effortlessly, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly under acceleration. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts crisply through each of the gears and the high, neutral and low ranges all function properly. Mechanically sorted, the truck has a new carburetor, upgraded high-output alternator, new wiring harness, new OEM fuel tank, new OEM exhaust from engine to tailpipe, new brake pads and calipers and new shocks and shock bushings. Compression is excellent and ride quality is everything you'd expect of a sorted Series IIA – rugged, visceral and grin-inducing. The white top of the car and the white doors and the white trunk were painted over with black with a paint roller. Please note that they were not well done and could be redone for cosmetic reasons. Wonderfully sophisticated and factory correct, the Rosso Amaranto paint is in truly fantastic condition: rich, consistent and marred only by minor imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the pictures. All of the glass, rubber and brightwork are in excellent original shape and the body is free of bondo and is entirely straight, with factory consistent panel fits and gaps. The Campagnolo Campanatura wheels are in excellent condition and are wrapped in Yokohama AVS tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car’s interior is equally clean, with the seats, carpets and interior panels all in great shape. The original Texalfa upholstery on the front seats was beginning to look a bit tatty, so we had the seats refurbished in correct Cuoio Naturale. Hardly ever used, the original rear seats are in excellent original condition, the dash cover is free of any cracks or warping and the trunk remains original and clean with the spare tire and changing tools. With ample power and go-cart handling, this GTV is an absolute blast to drive. The 72K miles showing on the odometer is believed to be original mileage and the well-cared-for, original, numbers matching DOHC Inline 4 cylinder engine starts effortlessly, idles consistently and pulls strongly through each of the original 5-speed transmission’s gears. The Spica fuel injection was replaced with dual Weber carburetors by the previous owner, although the original Spica unit is functional and included in the sale. When all of the mechanicals were rebuilt, the car also received Euro cams, high compression pistons, big valves and a 4.11 rear axle, however the original 4.54 unit remains as a spare, along with a number of additional hard to find spare parts. The four wheel disc brakes bring the car safely to stop and steering and cornering is precise. The car comes with a binder full of restoration, parts and service receipts going back to through the early 1990s. The GT Veloce is arguably the last Alfa to truly be considered a classic and the final iteration, the 2000 GTV, embodies the perfect blend of a more modern drivability and power while retaining all of the visceral thrill of the earlier cars. I have a nice little 1986 Fiero for sale. It has the 2.8 V6 with an automatic transmission. I had been looking for a V6 Fiero for ever! Every time I saw one sitting I would stop to check it out. They were all the 2M4 2.5 L 4 cylinder cars. I had one and much prefer the V6! I bought it from an auto shop in Santa Barbara California. It has been in SB all of it's life. It runs and drives. The engine has a noise in it that sounds like a rod knock. The guy at the shop said that they think it is a stuck injector. I am not enough of a mechanic to be able to tell. It starts right up and sounds good. When I rev it I can hear the knock but it does not seem to be at crankshaft speed. It does not smoke. It seems to have good compression. I took a picture of the gauges with it running and you can see the oil pressure is good. I have driven it up and down the street where I live. The trans shifts well and the steering and brakes are fine. The cruise control works . The windows both work well . The sunroof does not leak. The interior is real decent. The driver's seat has a couple of tears. See pics. The A/C is intact but needs to be charged. I was going to add Freon but it is an R-12 system and I only have R-134. The tires are not too bad and have a lot of tread left. The mechanic said that they just installed a new computer and did a tune up. There is some paperwork for an after market suspension upgrade in the box of extra goodies that come with the car. I do not know enough about it to determine if it has been installed. I just kind of laid the brand new bra on the front to take the picture. I do not think it has ever been installed. It has the Fiero insignia on it. The body panels are all good. No cracking or broken pieces anywhere. The Fiero is still wearing the factory paint job. The clear coat is failing in spots. I have the California title from the seller. I have not transferred it to my name. He told me that there are back fees. I do not know how much they are. If it is registered outside of California they will be deleted. There is a California DMV rule to remove back fees from antique, classic and special interest cars that I have used on other vehicles too. I am sure that the spare tire and jack etc. have never been removed. they are intact and the trunk area looks almost as new! I live in Southern California about 90 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach. I have a car trailer and can deliver it, up to 200 miles or so, after it is paid for. 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback, 390 V8 Automatic. Beautiful original car. My personal vehicle which I bought from the original owner whom bought it new from Dunton Ford in Santa Ana, California. Will deliver for free to the lower 48 States for the Buy It Now Price. This is a one of a kind classic car. It is not a restored show car but it is in excellent condition. It can be driven daily and is quite capable of cruising across the country at high speeds. A very reliable car due to being maintained regardless of cost. I have mostly used it for driving between my home in California and my second home in Canada. I just drove it from Santa Barbara, California 2200 miles to Canada last weekend. It barely had a break the whole trip completing it in 36 hours. Cruising at 80 mph the majority of the journey it returned 18 mpg and it never missed a beat. I have made the trip several times in this car and it has always been perfectly reliable, I would trust it to drive me anywhere. That's how reliable and usable this 47 year old classic is. As mentioned above, I purchased this car from the original owner. He had driven it for about 10 years and then placed it in dry storage up until I bought it which is why it is so well preserved. I have all of the original documentation and handbooks in excellent condition. The paint is original, the interior is original and it is all in excellent time warp condition just showing minimal wear. The condition is best described as if this was a well cared for used 68 Galaxie Fastback that you were buying in the late 70's when it was around 10 years old. That's the kind of condition it is in. I have maintained this car meticulously. When I bought it I had all new brakes fitted including rotors, pads, drums, linings, brake lines, brake hoses, brake booster and master cylinder. It is a factory power disc brake car so it stops very well. I replaced the rear suspension arms and bushings with high quality ones which can be greased. I also recently had the carburetor fully rebuilt so it starts and runs perfectly hot or cold. And the transmission had a new modulator fitted earlier this year because it had started to leak slightly. The factory AC works very well and I had it serviced and re-filled with R12 Freon this past summer. Everything works on this car exactly how it did in 1968. The 390 V8 is original to the car and in excellent condition. It is very smooth and runs beautifully with huge torque. It embarrasses many modern cars on long steep mountain grades, it just doesn't slow down no matter how steep the hill. The transmission shifts perfectly and the 9 inch rear end is quiet with no leaks. The only thing that isn't stock on this Galaxie is a very expensive custom hidden audio system I had fitted with Ipod connection. This cannot be seen as I did not want to ruin the time warp interior but it is very convenient with good sound quality. Also it has a high quality stainless steel exhaust system. Otherwise this car is exactly as it left the factory. These cars have beautifully clean styling and are a 1 year only bodystyle. Probably one of the purest looking classic American cars in Fastback form. This is a beautiful classic American car that gets a lot of attention and looks. This is not some restored show car, it is a beautifully preserved and original 2 owner car that still gets driven everywhere at high speeds just like it would have done in 1968. This Galaxie is rust free throughout. The frame and floors are as good as new. A pleasure to own and drive, the most satisfying car I have ever owned. It will be missed if sold but sadly personal circumstances are making it not look like a viable option to be able to keep it so make me a respectful offer. Truly unique, you just don't find original un-restored cars from this era that you can get in and use like this, especially not 68 Galaxie Fastback's.
