In addition to providing five-star comfort, its goal is to be the ultimate symbol of power and achievement, a mansion on wheels. The ESV features a long wheelbase and an increase in total length, greatly enhancing third-row seat legroom and rear cargo space. Also, getting into the third row is easier with the ESV, its longer rear door providing a larger opening when the second-row seat is folded. Standard equipment includes a power liftgate, stability control, remote start, Bluetooth compatibility, and side curtain airbags. Some options are Magnetic Ride Control, 22-inch chrome wheels, a rear-view camera, and power running boards. Available as a 4x2 or 4x4 the Escalade ESV is powered by a 403-hp 6.2-liter V8 with Active Fuel Management and E85 compatibility, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2009 Cadillac Escalade ESV carries over from 2008. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComIntroductionThe Cadillac Escalade is big and powerful, capable of towing trailers of 7600 to 8300 pounds. In its most popular configuration, the Escalade seats seven. It's a stylish truck, with a bold yet smooth, integrated, sculpted look. Built on GM's full-size truck platform and equipped with a 403-horsepower 6.2-liter V8, the Escalade, ESV, and EXT make good tow vehicles. They share their platforms with the Chevy Tahoe, 1500-series Suburban and Silverado, as well as the GMC versions. The 2009 Escalade Hybrid is notably easier on fuel than the standard Escalade, with EPA ratings of about 20 mpg. New for 2009 is the Platinum version with every amenity Cadillac offers, including color-contrast-stitched Tehama leather with French seams and embroidered logos, a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled cupholders, multiple DVD entertainment systems, and LED headlamps. Also new for 2009 are a Side Blind Zone Alert system to warn of vehicles in potential blind spots, the latest 8.0 version of OnStar, XM NavTraffic with real-time traffic advisories, a light cashmere/cocoa interior color scheme, power-tilt steering wheel, automatic up/down front windows (very handy for toll-booths and drive-thrus), and rear seat audio jacks. Mechanically, the 6.2-liter V8 can now run on E85 (EPA 11 combined) and Escalades with 22-inch wheels get Magnetic Ride Control automatic suspension damping. The Escalade offers comfort and convenience features of a luxury sedan, including automatic climate control, navigation, rear camera, a premium Bose sound system, ultrasonic parking assist, power adjustable pedals, and heated leather seats. DVD entertainment systems and a moonroof are optional. Escalade comes in three body styles: Escalade, ESV, and EXT. The standard Escalade is a full-size sport utility sharing the same architecture and roughly the same dimensions as the Chevy Tahoe; it's the only one offered as a hybrid. The Escalade ESV is a long-wheelbase version, similar to the Chevy Suburban. The Escalade EXT is a combination five-passenger luxury SUV with a short bed; it is Cadillac's version of the Chevy Avalanche and was characterized by a leading truck magazine as better as a Cadillac than a pickup. All Escalades are roomy and luxuriously appointed, letting them haul family or friends or business associates in real comfort. The engine supplies serious power for surprisingly quick acceleration. On the road, all Escalades are smooth and stable. They ride smoother than a standard Tahoe or Suburban; but are at the same time taut and well-controlled for surprisingly good handling by full-size SUV standards. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComWalkaroundThe front end of every Escalade is dominated by a traditional Cadillac egg-crate grille draped in chrome. The grille is flanked by three-element, vertical headlamps that tie the vehicle more closely than ever to the rest of Cadillac's lineup; LED headlamps on the Platinum are a first in trucks or SUVs. The bumper and front trim are cleanly integrated so the Escalade looks more like a massive car than a truck. Similarly, the side-view styling is smoothly contoured, with no clunky side cladding. As with the front end, there is abundant chrome, including on the door handles, the exterior mirrors, side moldings, full-length roof rails (which provide anchor points for accessory crossbars for securing cargo on the roof) and Venti-ports above the front wheels, an emerging trend but not functional like those on some Land Rovers. Another clear response to market trends are the optional 22-inch chrome wheels, which visually plant the vehicle, completely filling the Escalade's huge wheelwells and making the standard 18-inch wheels look positively puny by comparison (though for reasons beyond cosmetics we prefer the 18-inch wheels). Particularly appreciable in colder climates are the pull-type door handles that are easy to grasp, even with gloves on. They're also more comfortable, less likely to snap away from your fingers and less likely to break a fingernail. The rear view features a modern interpretation of Cadillac's classic slim, vertical taillights, which recall the dramatic tailfins of Cadillacs of the 1960s and '70s, but are now rendered in crisp LED strips. A high-mounted, horizontal brake light with LED illumination crosses the top. But the dominant feature of the Escalade's tail is the enormous badge set within a chunky block of chrome trim. The liftgate opens and closes by pushbutton as a hatch, or glass-only for lighter items. Since the Escalade is based on a truck chassis the cargo load floor is 32.3 inches off the ground. The Class III tow hitch that comes standard is covered by a trim panel that is removable when not needed, and which easily can be refitted once a trailer is detached. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComDriving ImpressionOn the road, the nimbleness of the Cadillac Escalade is a pleasant surprise. The steering is light and reasonably precise, a nice compromise between the weight of the BMW X5 or Audi Q7 and the lightness of the Lincoln Navigator. In spite of having a live-axle rear suspension (as opposed to an independent rear suspension, as found on all the competition save Mercedes G-Class and Lexus LX570 with Land Cruiser off-road performance), the Escalade manages bumps very well, thanks to three-ton mass and the road-sensing Autoride system. Handling and body control are impressive given the Escalade's bulk, not as tight at one extreme as an X5 or GL550 in Sport mode nor as supple as an LX570 or Range Rover. Arch-nemesis Navigator doesn't offer such aggressive tires as the Escalade but works well, especially on marginal road surfaces, because its independent rear suspension is much lighter than the Escalade's. Newly optional on 2009 Escalade is Magnetic Ride Control, a system that uses a variety of sensors to measure road surface and vehicle parameters 1000 times per second and adjust the shock damping accordingly. That adjustment is done magnetically, changing the thickness of the shock fluid filled with tiny magnetic particles for maximum control of the shock. This system has been used advantageously on expensive imports and the Corvette for a few years, and is usually paired with the 22-inch wheels. The interior is very quiet, enhancing the ability to hold hushed conversation as well as hear the surround-sound system without extraneous noise. Also noteworthy is the plushest ride of almost any truck. On the optional 22-inch wheels and low-profile tires you'd expect more harshness and sharp things like parking lot speed bumps and lane divider dots, but they're muted because the sheer size of the tire means there is still some usable sidewall, the first point of any suspension system. Those vehicles with the 18-inch wheels offer even gentler ride characteristics without a corollary drop in grip, and on many trucks low-profile wheels also lower the tow rating and make winter tire or chain fitment a nuisance. All Escalades but the Hybrid are powered by a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 403 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque. Acceleration is brisk for a truck, ahead of the Navigator, Range Rover, Audi Q7 and a Police Tahoe, but behind the equally practical Mercedes GL550. Other poser-mobiles like the BMW X6 V8, Infiniti FX50, and Mercedes G-wagen are all quicker. The engine has a pleasant growl under acceleration, but with the tall gearing that's about the only time you hear it. Towing is aided by this prodigious power. The Escalade models are rated to tow trailers of 7600 to 8300 pounds; that's lower than the ratings for the Lincoln Navigator and Infiniti QX56. Hitching up a trailer is made easier by the Escalade's rearview camera, which mounts in the liftgate to provide a view behind the vehicle when backing up. What the camera sees is projected onto the navigation screen. It eliminates jumping out of the truck repeatedly to get the ball lined up under the trailer tongue and useful when backing up close to another object. It can also help the driver spot a child behind the vehicle when backing up, potentially avoiding a tragedy. The six-speed automatic transmission shifts imperceptibly except during full-throttle acceleration; it's tuned for mileage so it up-shifts quickly and needs a firm shove on the gas pedal to downshift. A Tow/Haul mode holds gears longer, or the driver can select gears manually via a button on the column-mounted shift lever. The multi-information display in the instrument cluster clearly displays the selected gear. All-wheel drive is available. It's a full-time system oriented around sure-footed traction on slippery pavement, rather than creeping through boulder fields or climbing steep grades. There is no low-range gearing. It works well in slushy conditions with inconsistent grip, improving handling stability and traction and helping the driver better control the vehicle. We demand it for winter weather, but it's a great aid in hard rain or on oily pavement or wet leaves or on gravel or dirt roads or in mud. The brakes are powerful and quite responsive, more than up to the task of bringing the big truck to a halt with little drama and surprisingly little dive because of the Autoride damping. The pedal feel was good, if not as pleasingly firm as its German competitors. ABS and electronic brake force distribution come standard for stable braking while turning or when the grip is inconsistent. StabiliTrak electronic stability control system manages wheel slip by applying the brakes at the slipping wheel without interrupting power deliver to the wheels with grip. StabiliTrak also helps maintain stability in corners by braking individual wheels when the vehicle's path doesn't match the driver's intentions. It works well and is not as intrusive as some Japanese systems or the G-Class that can not be defeated at more than 37 mph; it is also no substitute for common sense and doesn't make the Escalade any lighter. Excepting the Hybrid, every 2009 Escalade tested to date scores EPA ratings of 12/19/14 on gasoline (city/highway/combined). Some of the competition have slightly better combined ratings but they're all thirsty and will dip into single digits in urban crowds, working hard or towing. The Escalade Hybrid features GM's two-mode, gas-electric hybrid propulsion system developed in conjunction with other automakers. It combines a 6-liter V8 tuned specifically for hybrid use with a 300-volt battery pack and dual electric motors encased in a common housing with a conventional four-speed automatic transmission. When the full V8 output is not required the engine can operate on four cylinders to save a nominal amount of fuel, and if power requirements are very low the truck may run up to 30 mph on electric drive only. In most instances the gasoline engine stops whenever the Escalade does; electric drives run the power steering, air conditioning and so on so the only driver clues are the auto stop indication on the tachometer, lack of engine noise, and the truck does not try to creep while sitting in Drive. Essentially the hybrid system takes energy otherwise turned into heat by the brakes and stores it as electrical energy, to be used later to help get the vehicle going again. It is all fully automated and which part(s) are being used to drive the truck can be monitored on the navigation display. This is why the Hybrid's primary fuel economy advantage is in the city cycle (20/21 2WD). It drives much like a regular Escalade in some respects, same twist-key to turn it on, same steering feel, same gasoline fill-up, and markedly different in others. The engine doesn't automatically start when the car is on and when it does it is quieter and felt as a small momentary vibration, the brakes are more responsive (plan on some bobble-head initial test drives) because they are a trigger controlling the rate of battery pack recharging, and you're being most economical when the efficiency gauge is on the left, or lowest side, of its scale. The Hybrid adds thousands of dollars and roughly 450 pounds to an Escalade, lowers tow rating by about a ton (figure 4,500-4,700 pounds if the Escalade is loaded), and comes standard with 22-inch wheels and Magnetic Ride Control. Driven back-to-back with a non-hybrid you may notice the Hybrid feels heavier. Hybrid Escalades are also offered with 4WD that has an auto setting for on-road use like the standard Escalade's all-wheel drive system but also has low-range gears for maximum effort like deep sand or rocky terrain. Frankly, we can't see any Escalade Hybrid owner testing the front air dam in such a manner, and unless you're towing something there are plenty of more efficient people carriers but they don't make a fashion statement. If you are in need of towing ability and good mileage all around, the diesels from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and VW offer EPA ratings up to 18/25 and tow ratings up to 7700 pounds. When we drove the Escalade's sister-hybrid Tahoe, a standard gasoline Yukon (GMC's Tahoe) and a Mercedes-Benz GL-class back-to-back over a mixed course of city stoplights to freeway cruising, the hybrid averaged 19.8 mpg, the non-hybrid in the mid-16s and the diesel 23.4. At the time, diesel fuel was the cheapest at the Southern California pump, about 5% less than gasoline. The Generation 8.0 OnStar system, with a one-year Directions and Connections service plan, includes the Advanced Automatic Crash Notification system, making crash data available to emergency services so they can potentially dispatch the appropriate life-saving personnel and equipment to crash scenes faster. If the vehicle is in a crash that activates an air bag, the OnStar system automatically notifies an OnStar Advisor, who will check on the occupants and summon emergency help if no one responds. OnStar also can assist authorities in locating a vehicle if it is reported stolen or is off a paved road but still in contact with the satellites. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComInteriorThe Escalade's interior was designed to provide luxury both in terms of space as well as features. Escalade comes standard with seven-passenger seating, with second-row bucket seats separated by a center console, with a three-passenger, third-row bench behind it. The five-passenger EXT and eight-passenger Hybrid are offered only with a three-across bench seat in the second row, which is available on some other Escalades at no charge. Escalade ESV adds more than a foot of space between front and rear axles, so the rear side doors are much longer. This allows the side windows to go all the way down into the doors, and makes entry to the third row much easier; second row riders will still have to turn their feet to get them between seat and door post. Third-row legroom and cargo area are similarly improved. Though step-in is somewhat high, expected for a full-size SUV, running boards ease the process and the reward is a high seating position. Outward visibility over the open dash is very good, although the side pillars are an inch or two thicker than some luxo-utes and make blind spots large enough for a motorcycle or small car on approaching bends. Rear visibility is good as well with decent wiper coverage and no center seat headrests. Interior fit and finish is very nice. The mix of soft, padded materials, genuine aluminum accents, chrome details and relatively convincing faux wood combine with soft leather seats for an ambience on par with other luxury-brand SUVs in this price range. Stepping up to the Platinum models upgrades the existing leather, adds more of it, real aluminum and wood trim, and details right down to unique door sills and floor mats. The Escalade's LED-backlit gauges are clear and bright, featuring white markings and blue pointers on a black background. Between the speedometer and tachometer lies an information display that cycles through several menus via buttons on the steering wheel. The stalk controls for the turn signals and wipers have a tactile feel, as do the buttons and knobs on the radio and climate controls. Escalade comes standard with a 10-speaker (eight-speaker on EXT) stereo that features a six-disc changer that plays both CDs and audio DVDs. Bose designed the speaker system, outfitting the vehicle with 5.1 surround sound, an eight-channel amplifier and a subwoofer. XM radio comes standard. On vehicles without the navigation system, the radio panel presents audio information clearly. On vehicles with the navigation system, the radio features are incorporated into the touch screen-based interface. The latter takes a bit of familiarization to operate smoothly, but offers more functionality and fine-tuning capability once you're comfortable with it all and you won't have to consult the owner's manual to get home. OnStar route guidance is also included, for those times when getting directions from a live person is preferred or your mapping software hasn't kept up with development. The navigation system is competitive in terms of clarity and simplicity, the Cadillac-versus-Lincoln battle moving to electronics and infotainment with Lincoln's new Sync system. A rear-seat entertainment system is available, utilizing a flip-down eight-inch screen that folds down from overhead. The DVD driver itself is mounted in front, but does not play the movie in the front seats. Rear seat passengers can listen to the audio portion of their DVDs via all 10 speakers in the vehicle, the rear speakers only, or infrared wireless headsets. Order DVD entertainment in the ESV and you get a second eight-inch screen for the third seat, as well as an additional set of headphones. On Platinum models each front seat headrest houses a DVD screen and each can be controlled independently. The front bucket seats are quite nice: Comfortable, supportive, myriad power adjustments, heated, and for the driver side, his/hers memory. These are generously-sized seats for a generously-sized truck so narrow-framed drivers may find them a touch wide; the Escalade has the widest cabin of luxury SUVs. The power-tilt steering wheel may be heatable, and it is curiously offset to the right with the instrumentation. Leather (nuance in Cadillac-speak) upholstery is standard on all three rows on all models, which also covers the four-spoke steering wheel equipped with redundant controls for the audio system and cruise control. The Escalade's huge cabin benefits from triple-zone automatic climate controls: One zone for each front occupant and another tending to the rear-seating area. In the middle row, full-size adults can enjoy plenty of space in the second-row buckets; in most dimensions the Escalade is within an inch or two of competitors, with Mercedes' G and GL-Class leading in head and legroom and the Cadillac the widest. The EXT with the second-row bench seat offers roomy accommodations for two adults and adequate space for three; the EXT alone has a center position rear headrest because of the window immediately behind the seat. Escalade and ESV come standard with heated front and second-row seats while EXT gets heated front seats only. The third-row bench on the standard Escalade sits on the cargo floor and has marginal legroom, from 3-12 inches less than other luxo-utes; the standard-length Navigator has nearly three inches more third-row legroom than the extended-length Escalade ESV, so unless it's a short trip, save the third row for kids. Interior storage space is abundant. The glove box is large and the space under the armrest of the multi-level center console takes advantage of the wide cabin. Additional storage is found in pockets in the doors. The Escalade has four 12-volt power points, including one near the tailgate (EXT gets three) as well as cupholders galore. Cargo space behind the 50/50-split third row in the Escalade is on par with other luxury SUVs with three rows of seats; in other words, hauling anything but groceries will likely require the third-row seat to be folded. And while some competitors have power third-row seats that fold into the floor, the Escalade's seats must be removed for a flat floor but it has the edge in overall space. Removing the seats requires only a tug on one handle, but they are quite bulky and heavy and must be left at home to get the big cargo space. Loading cargo requires a 32-inch lift to the load floor, where tie-down hooks ease securing the load. A power liftgate is standard on Escalade and ESV. Apart from a lower tow rating of 7,500 pounds, the EXT's cargo flexibility matches that of the Chevy Avalanche. Source: NewCarTestDrive.ComSummaryThe Cadillac Escalade is an impressive vehicle in more ways than looks. It drives like a smaller vehicle while accommodating adults in unbridled luxury. It offers one of the segment's most powerful engines, which will make it a great vehicle for drivers who tow or simply like the feeling of strong acceleration. As long as one has enough space in their driveway or garage for this big truck, and can afford its thirst for gasoline, we expect the new Escalade will make many drivers very comfortable and happy for the long haul. If you get your thrills a quarter mile at a time, then this Mustang is probably the right car for you. It's a ground-up build that has seen no expense spared. Let's start with that near flawless body. During the build, it was all stripped and blasted to bare metal to create the perfect surface to spray a vivid finish of Victory Red PPG paint. As the car came back together, it received a 5'' cowl hood to make clearance for what lays beneath. Providing some high speed stability is an aluminum S.O.S. Outlaw wing out back. New headlights and corner lamps were installed and look crystal clear. There is a factory sunroof up top, and finishing up the dragster look is 15'' aluminum Weld Star wheels. Overall it's a very straight and clean body. Have a look inside and you'll confirm that this car means business. The black, factory bucket seats remain in place, but the rear seat has been removed to save weight and make space for the 8 point roll bar. Mounted behind that roll bar is a pre-installed mount for a nitrous bottle should you choose to add one, and a Red Top Optima battery has been relocated to the rear to distribute some weight. And yes, the motor has been pre-plumbed for nitrous with a purge release routed to the cowl. A 4-point Simpson racing harness keeps the driver and passenger safely contained in the vehicle, while the center console houses the ratchet shifter for the automatic transmission. The black dash is clean and straight and houses only the necessities for getting down the strip. There is no air conditioning, no radio...there aren't even windshield wipers. This car means business, so only Autometer Pro Comp tachometer, water temperature, and oil pressure gauges reside in the dash, along with pre-wired switches for the nitrous system. The Grant GT steering wheel even features a button for transbrake control. This where things get interesting. Powering this rocket is a Steve Schmidt built 331 cubic inch V8 that pushes out 470 horsepower. That small block was built with some of the best hardware including AFR 205 aluminum heads, ported Victor intake manifold, a forged Scat rotating assembly, and a custom grind Comp Cam. Feeding fuel and air is a Quick Fuel carburetor, while an MSD Pro Billet Distributer, MSD Digital 6A box, and MSD wires spark the mixture. Spent gasses are sent through Hooker headers and Flowmaster mufflers for a killer sound! Power from that engine is handled buy a Performance Automatic Super Competition C-4 transmission that is equipped with a TCI 8 inch torque converter and 5000 RPM stall. All of that torque spins an FMS aluminum driveshaft to an 8.8 inch rear end with 31 spline Moser axles and 4.30 gears. Chassis reinforcement comes from a tied sub-frame and reinforced battle boxes. Maintaining stability is an AJE tubular K-member with AJE tubular control arms and Lakewood struts up front. Steering come manually from a Flaming River quick ratio rack, while stopping power comes from drilled and slotted rotors on disc brakes up front and new drums and shoe out back. 10.5 inch Mickey Thompson ET street tires put the power to the ground. This car comes with a stack of receipts and with the sum of what they add up to, they nearly double our asking price. What we are asking is literally a fraction of what it would cost to build a car like this, even without going through a ground-up build. 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16V Cosworth, 77,621 Original Miles, 2 Owners From New, Rare Automatic Transmission, Great Running Condition 800x600 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16V Cosworth, 77,621 Original Miles, 2 Owners From New, Rare Automatic Transmission, Great Running Condition VIN #WDBDA34D3GF187107 This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16V Cosworth is a fantastic example of one of the most sought-after eighties sports sedans Mercedes-Benz produced and, along with the BMW M3, represents an era of cars that will never be seen again… The condition of this car is very original and straight. The car shows some signs of age, especially in the paint, and has 77,621 original miles on the odometer. I am the second owner from new. This car retains every option available on a 190 at the time, including the special options available only on the 2.3 16V versions, such as the front and rear seats. BODY: This 190E 2.3 16V wears its factory correct and original Blue-Black Metallic paint, which unfortunately is not in the best condition, as you can see from the photos. It is peeling in some areas and faded in some others. If you need additional photos of the paint, please let me know. I'm happy to take more. The good news is that all of the body panels are ripple, dent, and rust free and don’t appear to have had any sort of body or accident damage. The glass and seals are in good condition and there are no leaks evident. The body trim, including the chrome, aluminum, and rubber, is in good condition. No trim has been replaced. There are some minor imperfections, but overall, all of the trim is in line with what the condition should be on a car of this age with the mileage shown. The composite body panels, fender flares, ground effects, etc., are also in good condition with no need for replacement, just re-finishing. INTERIOR: The interior is trimmed in the original black leather. The seating areas are in nice condition, with no rips or tears, but there is normal wear evident. The door panels are also in good condition, but please pay attention to the photos in the description. The dashboard has a couple of small cracks, which can be repaired, and there are two spots on the seating areas, one in the front and one in the back, where the stitches have separated and need to be re-sewn. The seat backs also need minor repair. All of these issues can be rectified with a good interior shop at a fairly low cost. The rest of the interior is in good condition and has normal wear and tear for a car of this age and mileage. If you don’t see something in my photos you would like to see, PLEASE ASK! The wood trim is also in decent overall condition and not in need of repair, unless your plan is to totally restore the car. The carpet is also original and in very presentable condition. The climate control system works, but the air conditioner is not getting very cold and will either need a charge or possibly a new compressor at some point. The compressor is still available and is fairly inexpensive. All of the windows power up and down and work, as well as the sun roof. The trunk is in very nice condition, the trunk floor covering is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or missing pieces, and the spare tire, jack, and factory tool kit are accounted for and in very nice condition. UNDERCARRIAGE: The underside of the car is in line with a 77,000 mile Mercedes. Again, it is very solid with no evidence of any accident damage, but does have the normal minor surface rust associated with cars of this age. I've included quite a few photos of the underside of the car along with the rest of the photos of the car after the description in this section. ENGINE and ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The powerplant in this Mercedes is the original 2.3 litre 16 valve Cosworth engine. It is completely original and as you can see from the photos, well preserved. All aspects of the motor are in perfect working order, and the compression ratio is exactly where it should be. And yes, the car is fast. The engine bay is completely original, with all components in operational condition. Every detail of the engine compartment is “Mercedes Correct”. There is some wear to certain painted surfaces due to age, but overall, it is very presentable. All engine and drivetrain maintenance is up to date, including the following services: -oil and filter change -air filter replacement -installation of new fuel filter -engine coolant -installation of drive belts -lubrication of entire chassis -installation of new battery TRANSMISSION: The automatic transmission in this car is in working order and functions as a 77,000 mile car should. It is the original transmission to the car. As you already know if you are a fan of these cars, most of these cars were manufactured with manual transmissions. This car is one of the very few cars equipped with an automatic transmission. TIRES, WHEELS, and BRAKES: The tires are in fair condition but could use replacement if the new owner plans on doing any serious driving. They and are the correct and original size for the 1986 190 16V. The wheels are the original Mercedes-Benz wheels, and are in good condition. The entire braking system has been gone through to ensure every part works as it should. All rotors, pads, and seals have been replaced and brake fluid flushed. OVERALL DRIVING IMPRESSIONS: This 190E 2.3 16V runs and drives as should – It’s barely broken in! The 4 cylinder powerplant runs and accelerates smoothly and very quickly and the transmission shifts as it should. The car drives around town and on the open road. It has had all of the necessary service recently performed including oil-change, tune up, installation of new battery, and transmission and differential service. The only area I would pay attention to if I was to drive the car would be the suspension. Everything works, but it could use a complete overhaul at some point in the future, i.e tie rods, etc., not just because of the mileage, but also because of the fact the car sat idle for periods of time over the years. The most important part of the suspension, the self-leveling air shocks at the rear, are in working order and are not in need of repair at this time, although the accumulators will need to be replaced. PLEASE NOTE: This 190E 2.3 16V still retains all of its original or N.O.S. components! This means the engine, transmission, rear end, etc. are original or correct to the car. All of the numbers, markings, etc., are correct. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN MODIFIED IN ANY WAY! It is an original and very special car that, as evidenced by the low mileage, has been driven very sparingly during the last 29 years… If you are serious about purchasing this vehicle, I encourage you to come, take a look, and drive it. I can also provide you with additional photos of any specific part you have questions about. You or your mechanic are also welcome to put the car on a lift and perform any drivetrain inspection you wish, including a compression check. Please remember, this is a 29 year old car. As you can see from the photos, it’s not perfect. Things do go wrong sometimes. That’s the nature of old cars. I have attempted to describe all of the high and low points of this car. Overall, it’s a great dependable car to drive every day or restore to its original glory. My plan was to paint the car, repair the interior where needed, work on the suspension, and enjoy it. Plans change and I’d like it to find a good home. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 800x600 TERMS: $500 DEPOSIT WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE. The description of this vehicle is written to the best of my knowledge. However, I am by no means an expert on vintage Mercedes-Benz automobiles. Please don’t hesitate to ask for more photos and, if possible, come and look in person before the auction ends. ALL SALES ARE FINAL! Developed in collaboration with Cosworth initially for the rally scene of the 1980s, the flagship version of the 190E series eventually went on to dominate track-racing and ended up on the roads as well, putting up a good fight against BMW's iconic M3. Even though nine times out of ten, people would choose the Bimmer over the Merc, the 190E Cosworth's underdog status makes it an equally appealing car. As Richard Hammond put it: "it was Cinderella, but the coach never came". But let's take it from the start. In the late '70s, the V8-powered 450SLC rally car started to show the signs of aging, so the Stuttgart automaker decided to replace it with a compact model. Jointly developed with Cosworth, the 190E never made to rallying though, as Audi took everyone by surprise with the Quattro, featuring four-wheel drive and a turbocharged engine. Mercedes' management didn't want to fight an battle it couldn't win so instead, they competed in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). Motorsport regulations stated that, in order for a racecar to be homologated, there had to be a road-going version. So, at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes unveiled the 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth. It couldn't have been a more better time for this, as, just one month earlier, three Cosworth prototypes set a number of world speed records at the Nardo (Italy) oval, after being driven non-stop for over 50,000 km (31,069 miles). According to the plan, the distance was to be covered in 8 days, at an average speed of 240 km/h (149 mph). Six pilots drove in 2 and a half hour shifts and completed the task in exactly 201 hours, 39 minutes and 43 seconds. More amazing was the fact that all three cars finished without breaking down, only needing routine maintenance and, of course, refueling. The heart of the production 190E 2.3-16 was the four-cylinder Cosworth engine, based on the 136 hp 2.3-liter stock Mercedes powertrain. It was made from a light alloy, fitted with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The British engineers made the valves as large as they could be for the given displacement and also used a Bosch K-Jetronic injection system. The 2.3-16 delivered 185 hp at 6,200 rpm and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) at 4,500 rpm, easily revving up to the 7,000 rpm redline. It was pretty fast for its time reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). Due to stricter emission regulations, U.S.-spec models had a slightly weaker engine, rated at 167 hp and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). The power was sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual Getrag transmission with a racing gear pattern. That meant it had a "dog-leg" first gear, left and down from neutral. The steering ratio was shortened, for added precision, while the steering wheel itself had a smaller diameter. With a 0.32 drag coefficient, the 190E Cosworth set a new world record for the time. It was also a car that showcased many advanced engineering solutions, such as an electronically controlled limited-slip differential (LSD) and self-leveling hydraulic suspension on the rear axle. Inside, leather-clad Recaro sports seats provided ample support during fast cornering, alongside the aggressively shaped rear bench, while the instrument panel had additional gauges – oil temperature, voltmeter and stop watch. Only two exterior colors were available, the Blue-Black metallic and Smoke Silver. In 1984, driving a 190E Cosworth, Ayrton Senna, a relatively unknown driver at the time, won the first race held on the shortened Nürburgring, signaling the birth of two very big stars. But the 2.3-16 was just the beginning of the 190E Cosworth saga. In 1988, a new model followed, the 2.5-16. It had a bigger, 2.5-liter engine, delivering ten more ponies, for a total of 195 hp. There were also cars without catalytic converters, capable of 204 hp. Two new exterior colors were offered, the Almandine Red and Astral Silver. Overall, the 2.5-16 wasn't a quantum leap, but it did help the 190E Cosworth to keep up with its arch nemesis, the E30 BMW M3. Until 1988, the 2.3-16 was raced in different touring car championships by privately owned race teams. When Mercedes officially entered DTM, a new road going version was needed for homologation. This is how the 2.5-16 Evo I limited edition came to be. Only 502 units were built, featuring the same 2.5-liter 195 hp engine, with slight modifications. The powertrain had a shorter stroke and bigger bore, which allowed it to rev higher. Also, the rotating masses were lightened, lubrication improved and cam timing altered. The running gear received the most important upgrades, being optimized for heavy track use, as more and more 190E Cosworth owners were entering weekend races. For those wanting more performance, Mercedes also offered a DM18,000 PowerPack developed by AMG, delivering 30 extra horsepower. The upgrade included different camshafts, larger throttle body and more aggressive engine management. The intake and exhaust systems were optimized as well. The 1990 Geneva Auto Show saw the introduction of the Evo II, the most capable of all 190E Cosworths. This time the engine was considerably more powerful, churning out 235 hp and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque, the latter constant between 5,000-6,000 rpm. Tipping the scales at just 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs), the Evo II could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – impressive figures back then. The Evo II had an adjustable sports suspension, with three height levels, operated by a switch placed to the left of the steering wheel. Front passengers were given even more aggressive sports seats, while the rear bench was configured for only two individuals. An extensive bodykit, boasting an oversized rear win and blistered wheel arches, made the Evo II downright menacing and aerodynamically more efficient, with a drag coefficient of only 0.29. The Evo II had a limited run of 502 units, 500 painted in black, while the last two were silver. Base price was DM115,260, approximately €58,932 in today's currency. Granted, that was a lot, but, hey, good things are never cheap. By Csaba Daradics

The Dodge Viper is Dodge's top end, two-door, performance sports car. Since its original debut in 1992, the Dodge Viper has garnered a reputation as a serious high-end performance car with a very sleek and distinctive appearance. The Viper comes as a two seat coupe or roadster with a standard 600 horsepower 8.4 liter V10 engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Other noticeable performance features include dual exhaust, a limited slip differential, Koni shocks, anti-lock brakes with front and rear vented discs, "Z" rated performance tires on 18 inch front and 19 inch rear forged alloy wheels. Other notable standard features of the Viper include power mirrors, windows and door locks with remote keyless entry, Xenon headlamps, and air conditioning. For 2008, the Viper receives an enlarged, more powerful engine and newly styled hood vents. Source: Model Reviews Introduction The Dodge Viper ranks among the fiercest, most raw, visceral machines sold in showrooms anywhere. Only a few cars come as close as the Viper to a street-legal race car: Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Porsche 911 GT3RS, Chevrolet Corvette ZO6, Honda S2000CR. Only two of these cost less, and none come within 95 hp of the Viper. For most automotive tasks the Viper is overkill, like using a six-pound sledgehammer to swat a fly. Ridiculously fast and able to slosh your eyeballs about in their orbit rounding a bend or under heavy braking, it didn't really need any more power. But with archrival Corvette Z06 at 505 hp, that's just what Dodge did for 2008. They made the engine just 0.1 liter bigger but added 95 horses to make a nice round 600. The fly would still be dead, but now you have a bigger hammer. Along with the increased power, the gearbox has been strengthened, the shifter revised, the clutch tweaked for more grip on less effort, and the hood has been reshaped. Almost irrelevant are addenda like a navigation radio. Source: New Car Test Drive Walkaround From any angle, a quick glance shows the Viper means business, with a body shaped as much for function as style. It is made of composite materials over a steel frame, with aluminum sills and strengthened cowl. If a Viper is menacing, the ACR is version is downright evil incarnate. The Viper's sharp front edges and gaping maw are Braille for 'get out of my way.' A deep front spoiler and sloping hood wedged between two fenders help keep it from going airborne at three-mile-a-minute speeds, as does the subtle rear wing, rear suspension belly pan and the sizable diffuser under the rear end; don't back this up anywhere near a curb. Cooling air is funneled in through the trademark four-slot grille and exhausted through six extractor vents in the hood; when idling or moving very slowly the hot air wafting out those vents makes the forward view distorted much like the rear window glass. Even the bubble top roof serves a purpose, enabling the occupants to fit with helmets on. The roadster's folding soft top is manually-operated and stows neatly behind the seats but you must get out of the car to complete the five-second operation. The glass rear window has a defroster so visibility equals the coupe, and headroom is similar. Xenon headlamps are standard, finally endowing the Viper with suitable vision for night drives; the snake's head center brake light continues. And like the earliest Vipers, the exhaust pipes, even on GTS coupes, exit right under the door ahead of the rear-wheel; expect drive-through attendants to ask you to turn it off so they can hear you. The fuel tank is a bit smaller at 16 gallons (compared with the previous 18.5), but the engine is more efficient so range isn't severely impacted. Besides, 2.5 gallons of gas is just an extra 15 pounds you don't need in a race car. Eight color choices are offered, with five choices in stripe color to complement or counter the primary shade. There are also three choices in wheels, although none is said to be significantly lighter than the others, so choosing them is mostly a style consideration. Source: New Car Test Drive Driving Impression Rotate the key to ignition, depress the clutch, push the red Start button, and the Viper shatters Sunday morning silence with a cacophony of odd-firing sounds from its V10 engine and bellowing pipes. And you thought it only looked loud. From here on, everything you do must give the car due consideration for its abilities, and unless you race regularly or work in automotive testing, your own lack of abilities. This is the only production 600-hp car sold in the United States that does not have all-wheel drive, electronic stability control, or both, and as such is not recommended for inflated egos or the inexperienced. The Viper is a brutally honest car and if you direct it to do something stupid, it will do something stupid. That said, the Viper is actually quite docile trundling around town. The new twin-disc clutch takes less effort and offers smoother, more precise engagement, so you can get in motion without even using the throttle. The fastest launches are not done with your foot on the floor as that would merely spin the back tires; on many road surfaces you'll need second gear before the Viper gains good traction and lunges toward the horizon like a greyhound with ears laid back. When it reaches the heart of its power in second gear, you've passed the legal speed limit in most states, with four gears remaining. If you took the average interstate on-ramp as fast as possible you'd hit the highway doing somewhere north of 120 mph. Find an open track long enough, and the Viper coupe is said to top 200 mph. Our experience suggests it pulls hard at any speed. Expect no more than 20 minutes out of a tank of fuel at peak velocity. On the other hand, you can drive around never exceeding 1500 rpm (out of 6300) and still reach 80 mph in the same time most plebian cars do. Extremely tall gearing means a Viper will idle at more than 40 mph in top gear. Its low-rpm torque and excellent tractability allows it to go uphill at 1000 rpm in fifth gear without complaint. The new shifter and gearbox are a big improvement over the old one, but they retain the irritating skip-shift function that sends the lever from first to fourth in slow-speed acceleration to help achieve a better EPA fuel-economy rating. And despite raising horsepower by nearly 100, the car is more efficient, with EPA ratings up to 13/22 for 2008. Making the ultimate sacrifice (driving a Viper sensibly) we recorded better than 16 mpg in everyday driving. Moderate weight and tall gears have their advantages. Five- and six-hundred horsepower cars are more common everyday, but nothing with this power level weighs as little as the Viper's 3450 pounds. Indeed, only some non-U.S. exotics and the Bugatti Veyron, at more than a million dollars for its 987 horsepower, offers a significantly better power to weight ratio. Ride comfort is par for the course on a car that changes direction like this and can pin your own weight against the door or seatbelt. Run-flat tires are no longer employed and the foot-wide Michelin Pilot Sport 2s give superb grip without the small-bump punishment run-flats impart. Suspension bits are all aluminum and nicely calibrated for poor road compliance and razor-sharp response. Some super-serious types might like a bit more rebound control in back, easy to accomplish using aftermarket parts. Brakes are immense and easy to modulate; a light touch of the pedal brings mild slowing, with retarding increasing directly with more pedal pressure. Fade is not an issue, the ABS is ideally tuned, and the net effect is a controlled crash with no damage. A few cars may brake as well, generate similar lateral grip, get around a race course with similar lap times, or accelerate like this, but few can do all like a Viper, and none can do it for the money. Source: New Car Test Drive Interior The term cockpit applies as well to a Viper as any other car. A simple push on the button release atop the door pops it open, and it's not a big opening requiring a smidge of slide and contort slightly to get in. However, once inside you will find surprising head and legroom given the car's external dimensions (less than four feet high) and the fact that you are essentially wedged between the engine/gearbox and exhaust pipes. Although the seats sport long cushions for thigh support and big bolsters to keep you contained, you wouldn't slide far without them given the wall-size center console and door adjacent. Seat controls are manual and limited to forward and backward; there's no lumbar or cushion height adjustment, but the tilt wheel and power adjustable pedals help everyone fit. The pedals are offset to the left a bit and include a dead pedal to brace your left foot on when not shifting, but the floating gas pedal is not ideal for heel-and-toe pedaling. Leather trims the steering wheel and shift knob, while seats have suede-like center sections with color options; the seat sides and interior are all black. It's not fancy in here, with plastic a frequent surface because it's light, inexpensive, easy to clean, and easy to cut up to add a roll cage, light and radio switching, and so forth. Dead ahead of the driver is the tachometer, with fuel to the left and speed to the right; the Viper won't run to the top number (220 mph) but it will go well 'round. Some mental recalibration may be in order as most cars are not traveling 110 mph with the needle straight up. Sloping down to the right of the wheel are oil pressure (closest to line of sight, where it should be), oil temperature, water temperature, and voltage. All instruments are black numbers on white faces and an easy read, although the oil pressure gauge reflects in the windshield at night. The bezels around the gauges may be optioned up in different trim. In keeping with its strictly (go fast) business attitude, the steering wheel has just one button on it: the horn. And there are no cup holders. You might feel tempted to Zip-tie your commuter cup to a roll bar and run a hose out of it for sipping, through your helmet, of course. Air conditioning is standard and quickly cools the tiny volume of air space inside, and in warm weather the engine and pipes surrounding you can quickly turn the cockpit into a mild oven. You can now add navigation to the electronic entertainment, but your phone should be stowed; they'd never hear you over the din. Visibility is relatively good for a low-slung beast. The mirrors aren't filled by the fat rear fenders and although the glass backlight might distort them, sizable objects are easily detected behind. The windshield doesn't blend in to the roof as on some cars, so the forward view upward is marginal; you may need to lean forward and peer up to see traffic lights, and the rearview mirror and right front fender conspire to make a very small area to see what's up and to the right, such as sharp uphill right-handers or merging traffic. Dodge claims trunk space of 14.6 cubic feet under the large hatch opening, but that seems optimistic; maybe they're including the rear suspension and fuel tank in that figure. That said, the GTS does have enough room for a couple of overnight bags or maybe your helmet and driving suit. There's no spare tire, instead there's a small air compressor and fix-kit; that makes sense because there'd be nowhere to put a massive, flat tire. The roadster's trunk is notably smaller but it can still hold a wheeled suitcase and carry-on bags. If the top is up there is space behind the seats for jackets and lighter items; this space disappears with the top down but trunk space does not change. The roadster also comes across as quieter sometimes as it's less of an echo chamber, but it is otherwise similar to the GTS and just. Source: New Car Test Drive Summary The Dodge Viper is the bad boy for under $100,000. Bang for your buck literally can't be matched, as you will likely spend more to better any battle of numbers bench racers are apt to argue about. It's in your face, your ears, your nose and all over the competition. If you're smart enough to show the respect it demands, it might be the race car you're looking for. And did we mention the 600 horsepower? NewCarTestDrive.com correspondent G.R. Whale filed this report in Los Angeles. The Dodge Charger is a boldly designed full-size four-door sedan which can be factory equipped from mild to wild to suit virtually any buyers needs or desires. The Charger is available in SE, Rallye, R/T and SRT8 trims. SE and Rallye models come equipped with a 3.6-liter V6. A 370-hp 5.7-liter V8 comes on R/T models. SRT8 features a 6.4-liter V8. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available on Rallye and R/T trims. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, brake assist, active head restraints, curtain airbags and an ignition immobilizer. Available features include HID headlights, heated front and rear seats, satellite radio, blind spot detection, leather trimmed power seats, power adjustable pedals, navigation system, power sunroof and more. For 2012, the Base Charger has been renamed SE and new Rallye and SRT8 trims have been added. Source: Model Reviews Introduction It's as if nobody told Dodge about American cars: that they are cheap, flimsy, incompetent. To the contrary, the Dodge Charger is a proudly American muscle sedan, pumped, powerful, and full of swagger. Furnished with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and a Dodge Hemi V8 if that's your inclination, this is a roomy five-place hauler that takes you straight back to the wildly optimistic American sedans of the '60s, but with a difference. This latest version of the American full-size sedan is engineered, styled, and manufactured to go toe to toe with the best competing models the world market has to offer. Without effort, it meets that challenge and welcomes the battle. The Charger is proof that American carmakers have learned that they can no longer market shoddy design and haphazard assembly. To that end, the Dodge Charger is a proud product of the new Detroit. It's handsomely designed and has world-class fit and finish. From crankshaft to door handles, everything operates with fine precision and the promise of long-lasting service. The Dodge Charger was redesigned for the 2011 model year, and there are no significant changes for the 2012 Charger except that a new 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 has been added to the model lineup. The 2012 Charger is the second year of the second generation of the modern Charger. The first generation ran 2006-2010. The original was launched as a '66. The General Lee Bo and Luke Duke drove was a '69. From the outside, this second-generation Charger looks a lot like an older rendering of the American sedan, but that appearance is misleading. The retro look is a self-confident exercise in sinuous American styling. The interior, however, is anything but old style. It's richly furnished with cutting-edge conveniences, advanced technology and the no-nonsense functionalism buyers demand. A first-rate, 8.4-inch touch-screen navigation system is coupled with a rearview camera and ancillary controls for climate and audio. The latest navigation system is sensationally intuitive, transparent, and pleasing to use, among the best we've seen. It's very easy to read and very easy to understand. Underscoring this user-friendliness, the Charger's audio controls for volume and tuning are accomplished with old-fashioned, practical radial knobs: What a concept! And following through, each of these knobs is furnished with a nice rubber feel as you make your one-touch adjustments. Brilliant. German luxury brands costing vastly more could learn from the Charger's straightforward controls. Nothing else is more happily apparent in the new Dodge Charger than that Chrysler has enthusiastically embraced the new design and quality standards dictated by Detroit's recent, painful bailouts. To do well against foreign automakers today, American carmakers cannot be satisfied with building cars that are as good as the competition. They must build better cars at lower prices than the competition. Dodge has gone about this in a bracingly built-in-America way. Even with a Hemi V8 and optional all-wheel drive, as our test car was furnished, the new Charger's efficient engineering produces a full-size family sedan with both strong performance and surprisingly thrifty EPA fuel economy. Our Hemi-powered test car delivered an EPA-estimated 15 mpg City and 23 mpg Highway. V6 Chargers earn a stellar 31 mpg Highway. The 2012 Dodge Charger is the classic combination: a full-size Detroit sedan with strong performance and unmistakable American looks, selling at a surprisingly attractive price. Compared with the full-size Dodge sedan of 20 or 30 years ago, a 2012 Charger will reward the owner with exciting styling, world-class engineering and impressive value. You no longer have to buy American because it's patriotic. With cars like this, you buy American because it's smart. Source: New Car Test Drive Walkaround This latest-generation Dodge Charger is immediately recognizable. The front says it's a Dodge, a design theme that began life on, of all things, the upright first-generation Dodge Ram pickup truck. The two vehicles could not be more different, yet the aggressive, muscular cruciform grille suits both perfectly. Achieving that kind of unmistakable model-line identity is no small achievement. In like manner, the tail of the Charger uses the same array of full-width taillamps made famous on the Charger in the '60s. It's a handsome look that is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with historic Dodge styling cues. The Charger expresses pride in where Dodge, Chrysler Corporation, and for that matter, all American cars have been during the last few turbulent decades. The body of the second-generation modern Charger is crisply styled throughout. It is considerably edgier and more muscular than its immediate predecessor, which had great promise but was, by comparison, a bit of a lump. Along the sides of the car are slanting, angular indentations that echo the racy rear-facing engine-room vents made so famous on the all-conquering Dodge Viper supercar. In the Charger, these are unmistakably bad looking in all of the right street-savvy ways. Continuing this street look, in profile, the car's dramatically low roofline tapers downward rapidly at the car's mid-point. In combination with its high waistline and compressed greenhouse, the car expresses a secretive, almost hot-rod chopped appearance. Occupants seem to peer outward from sinister gun slit-like windows. Yet for all of its hunched-over appearance, the occupants' outward visibility is quite good enough. When the Charger's dynamic outward appearance is combined with its strong performance, this is an American muscle sedan with the credentials to appeal to a broad range of tastes. Source: New Car Test Drive Driving Impression The stark four-letter badges on the car's sides say, Hemi. Not a lot more need be said. This is a serious American V8, with torque and horsepower enough to pin you back in your seat or, just as surely, enough poise to potter along as complacently as you like. And because this is a fully self-confident powerplant, Dodge sees no need to hype it with a sudden, falsely energetic throttle pedal. Throttle response is immediate and proportional, allowing smooth, forceful acceleration. Dodge's Fuel-Saver Technology cancels four cylinders when they aren't needed, also eliminating needless fuel flow when decelerating. In our test car, EPA-rated City fuel mileage, at 15 mpg, is as meager as would be expected in a big V8. But the Charger's 23 mpg Highway fuel consumption is good, considering that this is nearly six liter's worth of Hemi. All-wheel drive is always a useful thing to have aboard, delivering massively better traction and dynamic balance in almost any driving. And the minute you begin driving the Charger R/T Plus AWD, it's clear that this car is a complete break from the Dodges of decades ago. Yet despite our R/T Plus AWD having only Normal Duty suspension, the car proved a remarkably stable, grippy driver. There was only moderate lean, squat or dive during cornering, acceleration or braking. Pushed hard on dry pavement, the all-wheel drive always gives you just a little more cornering grip than you expect. Ride quality is very good, and the car's solid structure soaks up road surface irregularities with ease. Yet as relatively compliant as the ride is, steering is lively and communicative, keeping you in direct touch with the road. The thick, sturdy leather-wrapped steering wheel underscores the well-developed solidity of the car. With its variable-assist electronic steering, the driver is encouraged to think of this Charger as not nearly as large and cumbersome as outward appearances may suggest. Despite its dimensions, this is a crisp, sporty muscle sedan. It incites confidence and enjoyable driving. Braking performance is exemplary. The R/T Road & Track model boasts bigger, more forceful Brembo disc brakes, good for reducing fade when driving on a race track and repeatedly hammering the brakes. The R/T Plus AWD Package includes 13.6-inch vented front discs and 12.6-inch vented rear discs. (In non-AWD R/T Plus models, the front and rear brake rotors are both 12.6 inches.) The 13.6-inch brakes provided massive, balanced non-skid stopping power, especially in combination with the multiple electronic brake-assist technologies of rain brake support, ready alert braking, electronic stability control, all-speed traction control and hill-start assist. The Charger SRT8 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in the high 4-second range and can cover the standing quarter-mile in the high 12-second range. Top speed is 175 mph, according to Dodge. The SRT8 can brake from 60-0 mph in 120 feet. Source: New Car Test Drive Interior Examining the Charger's interior, we started in the back seat to investigate just how limited seating room might be underneath this low roofline. Inevitably, tall backseat passengers will have to scrunch down a little, though moderately tall riders will be just fine. The rear cabin is comfortable and roomy without being huge. The top of the backlight has multi-linear applique black stripes, providing a bit of shade from the sun and simultaneously creating the impression from outside that the rear window is even lower and more hooded. The rear seat is firm and supportive, with a fairly hard back-cushion. A central pull-down elbow rest contains two cup holders and a stowage compartment. Dual rear-seat climate vents are provided, together with a 12-volt outlet and rear seat heaters. Deluxe. Beautiful plum-shaded Nappa leather upholstery is furnished throughout. The front-seat display is mildly spartan, but not in the sense of being cold or under-supplied. Rather, the instrumentation has attractive, classy white-on-black dials. The display, uncomplicated and straightforward, is simple modern. The dashboard has a sleek, scooped-out titanium-look central motif. Below the tachometer (which no longer has a redline because automatic shifting prevents over-revving) and speedometer are a water temperature gauge and a fuel gauge. Also included in the instrumentation is a compass and an exterior temperature readout. Between these instruments, an Info board delivers a list of performance parameters, including coolant temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, transmission temperature, engine hours, tire pressure and several measures of instant and trip fuel mileage. Our one complaint here was that gaining access to this Info board's numerous categories of data was confusing and took some non-intuitive hunting around. The navi screen, by contrast, was excellent, intuitive, and immediately accessible. Navigation is by simple plan view. The screen is bright, easily read and devoid of complex graphics. Its touch-screen offers Radio, Controls, Climate, Navigation, Phone and More, the latter signifying Sirius Travel Link and a Settings inventory. New for 2012, the system has been upgraded, with hands-free texting, voice commands for Garmin navigation, Sirius Traffic, and full iPod control features. Suddenly, Chrysler and Dodge have one of the best navigation systems available today. On the steering wheel are controls for the Info board, voice activation and cruise control. On the rear of the steering wheel, where the paddle shifters would be on the R/T Road & Track model, we found a complex set of six different touch buttons. These were designed for manipulating radio volume, selecting stations, bands and pre-selects, but they were a classic instance of too much of a good thing. Mastering which of these buttons controlled what functions, and using the buttons efficiently for their intended purpose would take some serious concentration. In place of paddle shifters, our test car had a sequential 5-speed manu-matic shifter: It operated independently or could be manually selected. The system had a nice provision whereby if you wanted to cancel manual shifting and return to automatic, you simply push the lever to the right for about one second. Immediately, the transmission returns to selecting its own gears. The manual selector delivered fast, positive manual shifts. Excellent. In the center console, our test car had two heated-or-cooled cupholders, a deluxe touch. Source: New Car Test Drive Summary The 2012 Dodge Charger is a dynamic, forceful road car that starts, stops and corners with poise. If Dodge had come anywhere near to this kind of Charger years ago, the company would have been every buyer's hero. This is an American sedan to be proud of. With trim that echoes its older brothers in the Shoebox Chevy family, the 150 gets by with a minimum of flashy trim, yet retains that timeless 1957 look. This very handsome coupe is the recipient of a very high-quality restoration with a few tasteful upgrades that make it a fantastic cruiser and a casual show car that can be driven with pride. There are few better colors on a '57 Chevy than bright red, and the finish on this car is very nice. Bodywork was well done, and there are no signs of previous damage or repairs, just clean sheetmetal. Detailing is crisp, and with the 150 trim on the quarters, the slight dip under the rear window is much more pronounced, giving the car more character that's often lost in the over-abundance of chrome on the Bel Air. Speaking of chrome, the bumpers, grille, and other bright parts have been refinished to a very high standard and you'll note that extra time was taken to ensure that all the stainless trim lines up properly. Correct Chevrolet badges have been installed front and rear, with the stylized 'V' that symbolizes V8 power under the hood, and all the glass is bright and clear. Nothing has been shaved or removed, and externally, this car is a lot closer to stock than it would appear at first glance. Inside, you'll find an all-new interior with a clean, simple look, from the black seat covers to the very cool pleated door panels. New black carpets are on the floor, covered by matching black rubber mats with inset Chevrolet logos, and overhead there's a fresh headliner that's taut and wrinkle-free. The original gauges still live in the dash, and they've been augmented by a set of auxiliary gauges hanging underneath. That shifter looks like it should be controlling an old-school manual gearbox, but it's actually connected to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The original radio still lives in the center of the dash and is joined by a Grant GT steering wheel that updates the look just a little. The trunk is proof that this is a super-clean car and also packs a vintage bias-ply spare tire and jack assembly. The engine is a 350 cubic inch V8, which, as a small block Chevy, was an easy swap. Topped by an Edelbrock carburetor and Holley intake, it's a strong runner that sticks to the tried-and-true formula. A few chrome dress-up items add a bit of sparkle and there's Chevy Orange paint on the block, so it's not really breaking any new ground, but that's not really the point. A modern dual master cylinder was installed for safety and long-tube headers dump into a true dual exhaust system with a pair of Flowmaster mufflers and cool angle-cut tips under the rear bumper. The aforementioned TH350 3-speed automatic transmission feeds the original rear end, so this car is a pleasant highway cruiser and it sits exactly right thanks to a stock-style suspension and a set of traction bars out back. It rolls on a set of chrome REV wheels and recent 235/15/17 front and 285/40/17 rear performance radials. It's amazing what a difference a few pieces of trim make. Without the big Bel Air panels, this super clean 150 looks like an entirely different car, one that's lighter and better suited for battle on the streets. But at the end of the day, one thing is certain: it didn't take long for EVERYONE to join the party. And by 1970, the tried and true formula for Oldsmobile's storied 442 produced well-groomed street fighters like this incredible W30 hardtop. The subject of a 3-year, ground-up restoration, this razor-sharp Olds is a fully documented classic that wraps a numbers-matching drivetrain in all-original sheetmetal. If you're in the market for a first-class muscle car, it's time to stop debating and start calling! BODYWORK/TRIM A factory-correct car that reportedly hails from the dry climate of west Texas, this top notch A-Body features a solid, all-original profile that's covered in clean, Classic White 2-stage. That paint, and the traditional gold stripes that complement it, is a direct result of an extensive, 3-year restoration that wrapped up in the Spring of 2015. And today, five figures in to the future, this 442 is a timeless muscle car that intimidates like a cruise missile and shines like the family's best silver. Oldsmobile's modernist, mid-century design aesthetic was no doubt a play on its engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy, and the cars that proudly carry those lines continue to weather exceptionally well. At the front of this coupe, a 442-specific grille centers monochromatic "442" lettering between stainless-trimmed T3 headlights and a bright chrome bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye to like-new glass that rides behind straight stainless frames. At the sides of that hood, traditional GM door handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement clean marker lamps, dent-free wheel rings and a slick combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a "442" branded decklid hangs a factory wing above a second chrome bumper, silver-trimmed taillights and correct, trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE Hoist this Olds' scooped hood and you'll find an original, 455 cubic inch Rocket V8 that's branded with a correct 396021F casting number and matching partial VIN. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, that red hot mill is a reliable, big-port big block that, in factory form, twists stout 10.5 to 1 compression into a quick 370 horsepower! Stomp the throttle and a restored Rochester 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct W-30 air cleaner, and shoves it in to a Winters aluminum intake. At the back of that intake, a traditional points distributor feeds fire through proven Packard TV R Suppression Cables, which snake around correct "F" heads and stamped and painted valve covers. Below those covers, freshly restored exhaust manifolds shoot charred dinosaurs in to big, true-dual pipes. Mechanically, the stout engine is all day reliable, spinning 500 lb./ft. of rock-crushing torque from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. Aesthetically, familiar plastic fenders and Metallic Blue block skin look fantastic against the car's clean body. There's a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes factory air conditioning and a correct Delco Moraine brake booster. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its fresh decals and pliable GM hoses to its color-keyed intake springs and Delco-topped battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket fronts an original 3-speed, which hangs a correct "70 - OW" assembly tag opposite a matching partial VIN. That tough transmission sends power to a stout, 12-bolt axle. That driveline pushes a familiar Heavy Duty Suspension, which, along with the car's chassis, was thoroughly marked and tagged during the detailed restoration. Solid stops are provided by rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes. Turns come courtesy of a familiar Saginaw gearbox, which is piped to factory power steering. At the center of the floors, aluminized exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on charcoal SSIIs, which spin 225/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As around polished trim rings and rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR This impressive coupe's correct, well-optioned interior is so fresh it looks like it just rolled out of the upholstery shop. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fade-free carpet that's protected by "442 W-30" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests behind convenient power windows and optional power door locks. A wood-trimmed dash hangs deluxe telemetry above simple AC controls, optional audio equipment and a hidden button that actuates the car's sizeable trunk. At the base of that dash, a slim console frames a slim Hurst shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, the aforementioned trunk anchors a fifth SSII and vintage Goodyear Polyglas between a small light, correct tools, bright decals and a fresh mat. HISTORICAL INFORMATION It's pretty easy to confirm this handsome Oldsmobile's status as an authentic 442. Here's a look at the car's 442-specific VIN and Cowl Tag. Sure, you can go the LS5 or LS6 Chevelle route, but the best bowties will set you back a small house or two. And the same goes for the most desirable members of Buick's GS family and Pontiac's GTO line. Well, what if we said you could take home a magazine-featured, national award-winning example of a limited production A-body, which many GM enthusiasts aren't even aware of, for under $40K? That's probably enough to get your undivided attention, right? In addition to being a loud, broad-shouldered hunk of the rocket division's best metal, this Oldsmobile is 1 of just 3,547 Cutlass Rallye 350s ever produced. Restored with an acute attention to detail, the car features a roster of correct parts that range from an original engine all the way down to a sorted FE2 suspension. And best of all, these qualities exist within a balanced, fun-to-drive classic that doesn't require a second mortgage! HISTORY/CREATION Historically, the Rallye 350 is a pretty interesting piece. The Big Three seemed to understand that the muscle-car era was a bubble that would eventually be popped by rising insurance costs and increased government regulation. And in the case of Oldsmobile, prolonging the inevitable meant creating a fun, affordable car that was capable of turning heads using a rather conservative small block. To ramp up appeal, Olds compiled various trim pieces into a unique visual package that's highlighted by Sebring Yellow paint and very aggressive striping. Up front, a black, silver-trimmed grille, borrowed from the Cutlass S, rides between a urethane-coated bumper and pinned 442 W25 hood. Styled Steel II wheels join painted sport mirrors and trumpeted exhaust tips to mix a little function into form. And out back, a 442 W35 wing floats over black-trimmed taillights and a second urethane-coated bumper. The end result is a brand of visual punch that's simply unmatched by anything this side of Chrysler's brightest Hi Impact pastels. And, in reality, the package might've been a bit too risqu for Olds' traditionally conservative buyer base, resulting in relatively low production numbers and a high level of exclusivity. BODYWORK During a 4.5-year restoration that was completed in early 1995, this solid Cutlass was thoroughly stripped, carefully disassembled and treated to entirely new body panels with the exception of its floors, roof and driver's door. After hours of hard work, the car's clean profile presented itself as an excellent foundation for correct Sebring Yellow 2-stage. And today, one close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest looking muscle cars on the planet! ENGINE When this Olds' restorer found his new project listed deep in the classifieds, it had been upfitted with a 455 cubic inch big block. Fortunately, the seller had retained the car's original L74 Rocket 350 and was willing to include it with the sale. Hoist the fiberglass hood and you'll find that original mill proudly displaying a correct 395558 casting number in front of a matching partial VIN. At the top of the nickel-infused block, a big Quadrajet 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a correct, low-restriction air cleaner. That air/fuel mixture travels in to a high performance intake that's anchored by a traditional points distributor. That distributor feeds fire through proven Packard TV R Suppression Cables, which snake around correct "6" heads that are equipped with hardened valve seats and 3-angle valve jobs. Below those heads, forged, .030 over pistons shoot charred dinosaurs into cast iron exhaust manifolds and big, true-dual pipes. Aesthetically, the car's Satin Black fenders and snazzy gold block look fantastic against its bright yellow paint. Thanks to the pros at Wallingford, Connecticut's East Coast Machine & Performance, the stout powerplant is all day reliable. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its vintage decals and Frigidaire AC compressor all the way to its re-cored radiator and tagged Delco Energizer battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome Cutlass is completely solid and, thanks to a fully powder-coated chassis, shows no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 350 fronts a rugged Muncie 4-speed that's much more fun than the car's original Turbo-Hydramatic 350. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt that's equipped with a limited-slip differential and moderate, 3.42 gears. That driveline hangs in a correct FE2 Rallye suspension, which includes better shocks, thicker coil springs, reinforced control arms and a mandatory rear sway bar. Power-assisted discs and drums provide braking, while turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through buff DynoMax Super Turbo mufflers. And at the corners of the car, color-keyed Styled Steel IIs spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around stainless trim rings and rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR For what was meant be a somewhat stripped-down Cutlass, the Rallye 350's interior offers plenty of visual niceties that give it a much more upscale feel. Open the doors to find sophisticated side panels that are accented with bright stainless and rich wood applique. Step past the Fisher Body sill plates and you'll find clean black carpet that's plush and fade-free. A nicely finished combination of bucket and bench seats mixes a stylish pattern with plenty of support. Between those seats, a factory console frames a long Hurst shifter. Above that console, an ornate dash hangs full telemetry over a standard AM/FM radio. The driver stays connected to the road through a correct Custom Sport steering wheel. And the passengers stow their essentials next to a fifth Styled Steel II/Firestone Wide Oval combination that's housed in a fully restored trunk. And today, when you're looking to grab a piece of Detroit's finest iron without closing out your retirement, a numbers-matching Oldsmobile is one of the smartest purchases on the market. There's no reason a blue chip classic should cost more than the mortgage on your house. And there's ABSOLUTELY no reason spending six figures of your hard earned money shouldn't get you a distinguished award winner like this incredible W-30. 1 of only 1,032 W-30 4-speed Holiday coupes built for the 1970 model year, this freshly restored Olds pairs an original, 455 cubic inch V8 with a tough Muncie 4-speed and correct Platinum on Black aesthetics. And if you're the kind of gearhead who likes to take their hardware to the show, it's the lust worthy trophy king you've been saving for! BODYWORK/TRIM Assembled in Lansing, Michigan during the fourth week of October, 1969, this awesome Oldsmobile is an impeccably maintained classic that still features all of its original sheetmetal. During an extensive, rotisserie restoration that was completed in the Spring of 2014, that solid profile was decked in correct Platinum base, trimmed with sinister stripes and sealed in glossy clear. And today, the car rolls as one razor-sharp coupe that mixes minimalist looks with a no-nonsense demeanor. Like all second generation A-bodies, the 442 continued to get better year after year. The car's clean, boxy lines were no doubt a play on its parent division's engineering leadership within the GM hierarchy, and the resulting design continues to weather exceptionally well. At the front of this coupe, a 442-specific grille centers monochromatic "442" lettering between stainless-trimmed T3 headlights and a bright chrome bumper that's finished with clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a fiberglass ram air hood leads the eye to a new windshield that, along with the car's all-original greenhouse, rides behind straight stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, traditional GM handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement clean marker lamps, dent-free wheel rings and a slick combination of "442" and "W-30" fender emblems. And at the back of the car, a smooth decklid hangs more monochromatic "442" lettering above a second chrome bumper, silver-trimmed taillights and correct, trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE It's not immediately apparent why this Olds' body carries so much sizzle; that is, until you see what's under its hood. Twist the locks, fling the resin and you'll find 455 cubic inches of Rocket V8 that hangs a correct 396021F casting number over a matching partial VIN. Stomp the throttle and a restored Quadrajet 4-barrel mixes juice from leak-free fuel lines with wind from a correct W-30 air cleaner, and shoves it in to a high performance, aluminum intake. Mechanically, the stout mill is all day reliable, spinning 500 lb./ft. of rock-crushing torque from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. Aesthetically, familiar plastic fenders and Metallic Blue block skin look fantastic against the car's Platinum body. There's a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes American Autowire wiring and a new 4-core Harrison radiator. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its fresh decals and vivid firewall stamps to its tagged brake lines and color-keyed intake springs. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 455 fronts a correct close-ratio Muncie, which was professionally rebuilt in the fall of 2013. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt, which employs moderate, highway-friendly gears. That smooth driveline hangs in a familiar heavy-duty suspension, which, along with the car's chassis, was thoroughly sandblasted and powder-coated during the rotisserie reboot. Solid stops are provided by rebuilt front disc and rear drum brakes. Turns come courtesy of an old school manual steering rack. At the center of the car, a correct Gardner exhaust system funnels spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And everything rolls on powder-coated steelies, which spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around dog dish hubcaps. INTERIOR Inside this impressive coupe, you'll find a Black Legendary interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh carpet that's protected by Cutlass floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests in bright chrome handles, straight stainless trim and fresh wood applique. A wood-trimmed dash hangs basic telemetry above an old school AM radio. At the base of that dash, a slim boot frames a broad Hurst shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a bright rocket emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth steel wheel and fifth Firestone tire between a small light, correct tools and a fresh mat. Not only did we sell our awesome Cutlass pro-tourer we introduced a sweet Rallye 350 and featured a national award-winning Cutlass 442 And if you're in the market for a classic Olds, but none of those options moved you, we're now debuting this razor-sharp 442 resto mod. In addition to highly desirable aesthetics, this impressive A-Body mixes an all-Oldsmobile drivetrain with a thorough, ground-up restoration that was completed in June of 2015. If you're looking for an exclusive muscle car that's live, loaded and ready to launch, strap yourself in to this big block rocket! BODYWORK/TRIM During its recently completed restoration, this authentic 442 sports coupe, 1 of only 4,282 produced for the 1968 model year, was entirely disassembled and completely stripped of its dull, original pigment. After a bit of hard work, the car's clean body presented itself as an excellent foundation for a slick combination of Ebony Black and Provincial White 2-stage. And today, a close look at our high-resolution photos reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the coolest looking muscle cars on the planet! Unlike most massaged classics, this Olds wasn't entirely stripped of its stainless and ornamentation. Instead, the baubles and bolt-ons were carefully supplemented with a few tweaks that highlight the car's awesome 'coke bottle' profile and intimidating street presence. At the front of that profile, a monochromatic grille hangs a color-keyed "442" emblem between bright headlights, clear parking lamps and a thick chrome bumper. At the top of that grille, a custom fresh air hood leads the eye to tinted glass that's framed in straight stainless and reflected in a polished driver's mirror. At the sides of that hood, factory door handles float between dent-free wheel rings while Rocket marker lamps perfectly complement "442" fender scripts. And at the back of the car, an "OLDSMOBILE" branded decklid hangs a fourth "442" badge and thin rocket logo above silver-trimmed taillights, small reverse lamps, a second thick bumper and trumpeted exhaust tips. ENGINE Hoist this Olds' scooped hood and you'll find an original, 400 cubic inch Rocket V8 that's branded with a correct 396026G casting number and matching partial VIN. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, that hot V8 is a super-efficient wedge head design that, in factory form, utilizes a proven 455 cranktrain to turn stout 10.5 to 1 compression into 350 horsepower and 440 lb./ft. of stump-pulling torque. Stomp the throttle and a big Rochester Quadrajet mixes juice from new stainless fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a Fire Red, 1970-style air cleaner. At the sides of that carb, correct "C" branded heads ride above factory cast exhaust manifolds. At the back of those heads, a correct points distributor sequences spark through pliable plug wires. Aesthetically, the car's Satin Black fenders and masculine Bronze block look fantastic against their glossy Ebony shell. And the entire engine bay, from its pliable GM hoses and fresh master cylinder to its rebuilt alternator and old school Frigidaire AC compressor, features a clean, mostly correct appearance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 400 fronts a correct Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed, which displays a requisite 1968 (68) Oldsmobile (OG) assembly stamp. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 12-bolt, which hides moderate, 3.08 gears behind a finned W27 inspection cover. That smooth driveline hangs in a familiar heavy-duty suspension, which has been upgraded with modern, tubular control arms. Power-assisted stops are provided by four red calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through baritone turbo mufflers. And silver Ridler Hot Rods spin 235/50ZR17 Falken Azenis in front of 235/50R18 Falken Azenis. INTERIOR Inside this impressive coupe, you'll find a clean Black interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh black carpet that's protected by "OLDSMOBILE" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center familiar GM armrests in bright chrome handles and straight stainless trim. A warp-free dash hangs factory air conditioning between an old school AM/FM radio and lightly customized telemetry. At the base of that dash, a slim console frames a stylish shifter. In front of the driver, a Sport Steering Wheel laps a bright rocket emblem. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth Ridler wheel and fifth Falken tire between a small light, a correct jack and a fresh mat. With sinister aesthetics and a fresh restoration, this fully sorted 442 is a fun classic to cruise in virtually any setting. Factor in the car's numbers-matching engine, and you've got one seriously appealing A-Body. It seems that Oldsmobile enthusiasts, much like their favorite cars, are always one small step ahead of their contemporaries. If you're thinking about adding a rocket to your orbit, don't hesitate; the countdown has begun! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. The Dodge Stealth, a captive import from Mitsubishi, was one such offering. Because these global featherweights made no qualms about catering to enthusiasts, most have been thoroughly modified and whipped hard by three or four different owners. And, as any JDM diehard will tell you, finding a Stealth that hasn't seen more than its fair share of track days is becoming increasingly difficult. Well, until now... This 9,922-mile coupe is an exceptional example of just that. Pampered and paraded its entire life, this Dodge is an impressive time capsule that'll transport you back to the days when stellar performance outshined raw horsepower! BODYWORK/TRIM The inaugural year of the Stealth, the 1991 model, was key in establishing Dodge as a major player in America's re-invigorated sports car market. Averaging just under 414 miles per year since rolling out of the showroom, this impressive MoPar appears to have rarely seen anything other than sunshine and warm summer days. A quick check of the car's undercarriage and suspension reveals no evidence of rust or abuse. A quick check of its VIN certifies its body has never seen any major repairs. And a quick check of our pictures confirms its dealer-installed spoiler and original Sable Black paint are both clean and appropriate. ENGINE In the early '90s, factory performance wars finally started heating up again. But this time, instead of Chevy, Ford and MoPar duking it out, the battle involved Japan's finest. Sure, the Viper made its debut, and the Corvette was still around, but those beasts were in a different league; and the price of admission to that league was steep. So, the Japanese automakers identified a niche for affordable sports cars, and the fight commenced. Lift this coupe's smooth hood and you'll find a 3.0 liter, naturally aspirated V6 that spins 160 horsepower into a modest 184 lb./ft. of torque. What that means is you get sparkling performance, good reliability and some pretty docile street manners in a package that's ripe for tuning. Or, better yet, maybe you leave it as is and establish a reference-grade gem for fellow Stealth enthusiasts who, eventually, will undoubtedly want to restore their well-worn classics. Aesthetically, the engine compartment in this Dodge appears to be 100% factory spec in every way. And, decked mostly in black, it's a serious looking piece with just a hint of color that adds both texture and contrast. DRIVETRAIN The low-mileage engine is bolted to a 4-speed automatic transmission that couples firm shifts to good fuel economy. That relaxed drivetrain spins the car's front wheels using a sophisticated suspension setup that virtually eliminates torque steer. Vented disc brakes live at all four corners. And the original exhaust has a raspy snarl that's extremely sporting, especially from outside the cockpit. Everything rolls on old school alloys that have been wrapped in 205/65R15 Goodyear Eagle GT+4s. And, as expected, everything under the car appears to be true to factory form. INTERIOR This coupe's jet-inspired cockpit, which presents a striking contrast to its extroverted exterior, displays hardly any signs of wear. The power-adjustable driver's seat keeps you as comfortable for quick jaunts as it does for long road trips; and the passenger and rear buckets don't appear to have been used for anything at all. In front of the driver, a dramatic black dash, which shows zero defects, is packed full of gauges and instruments that work exactly as they should. At the center of that dash, factory climate control hangs above a dealer-installed cassette player. Between the aforementioned seats, a crack-free console props a black shifter on clean carpet that's protected by thick, "STEALTH" branded floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, factory door panels, which are typically faded and ballooned from heat, present as good as new. And when you open the car's hatch, you'll find a clean cargo hold that's showroom fresh in virtually every way. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA vintage marketing brochureAn original Owner's ManualOriginal warranty informationThe car's original Purchase OrderThe car's original InvoiceThe car's original New Vehicle Preparation listAn Odometer Disclosure Statement that dates to December of 1990A dealer invoice documenting the addition of a cassette player and rear spoilerThe car's original Maryland Motor Vehicle Inspection ReportThe car's original Maryland Temporary RegistrationTwo keys and a cigarette lighter Whenever we post low-mileage Japanese sports cars, they sell almost immediately. A whole generation of buyers grew up with these curve-carving coupes, and since they're becoming increasingly scarce, the good ones get snapped up as quickly as they hit the market. If you're a new-age enthusiast who likes to burn up the roads, few cars deliver the performance and luxury of Dodge's mighty Stealth. And with only 9,922 original miles, this MoPar will have you smiling every time you slide behind the wheel! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. Big block Chevelles and aggressively styled GTOs seem to be naturals when it comes to muscle car wish lists. But, in reality, GM's 'more proper' divisions created some of the nastiest stoplight warriors ever unleashed on American streets. Oldsmobile, the General's humble technology division, definitely did its fair share to glorify the rise of Detroit. And this 5-time Olds Nationals champion is a prime example of their much lauded 'bar brawler in a tuxedo' sales mentality. Featuring a numbers-matching drivetrain, an intense Spanish Red on Black color combination and an impressive rotisserie restoration, this Olds is one of the coolest A-Bodies on the planet! And if you're looking for a solid, road-ready classic that'll turn heads and bring home trophies, it's your round-trip rocket ride to the moon! BODYWORK/TRIM Given its mid June build date, workers at GM's Lansing, Michigan production facility undoubtedly drifted to thoughts of summertime fun as this rich coupe rolled down their assembly line. With a striking combination of modernist appeal and open road prowess, it's virtually impossible to picture this classy Olds in anything other than a happy, sunny landscape. Not long ago the car benefitted from a detailed, rotisserie restoration, during which its original sheetmetal was stripped, patched and aligned to better-than-factory condition. A correct layer of Spanish Red base was sealed in modern clear and buffed to an admirable shine. And today, this sweet 442 is a razor-sharp muscle car that intimidates like a cruise missile and shines like the family's best silver. ENGINE Hoist the car's mirrored hood and you'll find a correct and equally rare 400 cubic inch Rocket V8, which is branded with a 442-specific 390925F casting number and "V224517G" assembly stamp. Since pre-68 Rocket blocks are devoid of VIN stamps, we can use that assembly code, which translates as 400 cubic inch (V) high compression (G) engine number 224517, to validate this coupe's status as a real-deal, numbers-matching 442. Professionally rebuilt and fully detailed, the hot V8 is a super-efficient wedge head design that utilizes a standard stroke and undersquare bore to create stout 10.5 to 1 compression, 350 horsepower and 440 lb./ft. of stump-pulling torque. Stomp the throttle and a big Rochester Quadrajet mixes juice from new stainless fuel lines with wind that's supplied by a chrome, correctly decaled air cleaner. At the sides of that carb, correct "C" branded heads hang above correct, cast iron exhaust manifolds, which make quick work of spent gases. And at the back of those heads, a correct red cap distributor sequences spark between high quality Packard TV R Suppression Cables and a rare UHV ignition system. Aesthetically, this Oldsmobile's Satin Black fenders and correct Bronze block look fantastic against their vivid red shell. And the entire engine bay, from its pliable hoses and Delco master cylinder to its correct alternator and tagged Delco battery, features a clean, factory-spec appearance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The bottom of this awesome 442 is completely solid, showing no signs of undue wear or question-inducing battle scars. The aforementioned Rocket 400 fronts a rugged 4-speed that's branded with a correct 3885010 casting number and Muncie (P) assembled on February (B) 7th (07) 1967 (7) build stamp. That proven transmission sends power to a stout 10-bolt that's equipped with moderate, 3.42 gears. That driveline hangs in a tagged heavy-duty suspension, which includes better shocks, thicker coil springs, reinforced control arms and a mandatory rear sway bar. Power-assisted discs and drums provide braking, while turns come courtesy of factory power steering. At the center of the car, aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through buff DynoMax mufflers and chrome-trimmed exhaust tips. And Styled Steel wheels spin F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around rocket-branded center caps. INTERIOR Inside this impressive Olds, you'll find a correct Black interior that's both comfortable and appealing. At the center of the car, stainless-trimmed seats ride on fresh black carpet that's protected by "OLDSMOBILE" branded floor mats. At the sides of those seats, clean door panels center modernist armrests in bright chrome handles and straight stainless trim. A warp-free dash hangs an old school pushbutton radio beside restored factory telemetry. At the base of that dash, an optional console frames a stylish Hurst 442 shifter. In front of the driver, a chrome-trimmed steering wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a fifth Styled Steel wheel and fifth redline tire between clean decals, a correct jack and a fresh mat. AWARDS If you've made it this far, you know this Oldsmobile is really something special. And, apparently the show scene seems to agree. Here's a list of the car's major accolades.First Place at the 2009 Oldsmobile Club of America Olds Nationals (995 out of 1000 points)First Place at the 2010 Oldsmobile Club of America Olds Nationals (995 out of 1000 points)First Place at the 2012 Oldsmobile Club of America Olds Nationals (1000 out of 1000 points)First Place at the 2013 Oldsmobile Club of America Olds Nationals (1000 out of 1000 points)First Place at the 2014 Oldsmobile Club of America Olds Nationals (998 out of 1000 points)Awarded an Antique Automobile Club of America Senior National First Prize (2013) HISTORICAL INFORMATION Given its history of awards, there's no doubting the quality of this impressive 442's restoration. This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle features a high-quality restoration, a big block under the hood, and a list of upgrades and options that make it just the way you'd want it if you'd built it yourself. According to the cowl tag, this is a real code 138 SS396 Sport Coupe, although that same cowl tag also gives away the fact that this one was originally Lemonwood Yellow. No matter, because the brilliant Regal Red now on the car will make you forget all about codes and ancient history. The bodywork is simply beautiful, with nary a ripple or wave to be found, even on those big quarter panels which are notoriously difficult to get this straight. Note the subtle crease that runs from nose to tail; if the body isn't straight, that's where it will show up first, and on this car, it's razor-sharp. Looking at the reflections in our photo studio, you can see that someone spent a lot of time getting this car right, and that same level of detail is found throughout, so the car makes a very good first impression that stands up to closer inspections. You'll also note correct 'Super Sport' badges used on the quarters, a proper blacked-out SS tail panel, and a super clean SS396 grille up front. They didn't overlook anything on this one. The interior is spot-on correct, sporting a set of code 761 black "imitation leather" buckets and a code G center console. As beautifully finished as the bodywork, the interior is entirely new, from the headliner to the carpets. The seats have handsome seat covers with bright trim and cool metal inserts on the seatbacks, while the door panels show crisp detailing that was a hallmark of GM in the '60s. The center console sports a handsome clock angled towards the driver, as well as a proper chrome shifter that bangs through the gears like a bolt-action rifle. Gauges are simple and the controls are basic, but the important things about cars like this weren't the frills, but the hardware underneath, and this one delivers. You'll note it also carries factory A/C and a set of Sunpro auxiliary gauges under the dash, which are probably a good idea to monitor the expensive big block up front. The engine is a correct, numbers-matching, 396 cubic inch big block dressed for battle in correct Chevy Orange paint. Against that satin black engine bay, the motor simply pops, thanks to a set of chrome big block valve covers, and a correct open-element air cleaner with Turbo Jet decals on top. Yellow plug wires and a chrome water neck are the only real deviations from stock, but they look racy and only enhance the presentation under the hood. Stock exhaust manifolds feed a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers that dump just below the rear bumper, as original. Disc brakes up front provide reliable stopping power, and the entire fuel system, from the tank to the carburetor, appears to have been replaced with new components. Cool mag wheels are a refreshing change from the usual Rallys and carry period-correct F70-14 Firestone redline tires that put the power to the ground from the 4 speed transmission. Fast, fun, and handsome, this red SS will make a fabulous cruiser that will knock the crowds dead at the next local cruise-in, and you can drive it with confidence knowing that someone already sweated all the details. Up For Sale I have my 1967 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport. It is a Correct Numbers Matching Car with its Original Engine. The car Just received New Paint over its original sheet metal and looks absolutely Stunning. Interior is extremely nice and shows really well. The engine runs great and sounds like a true sixties muscle car should, with its mild cam, dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. The rear differential is also stock with Factory Positraction completing that desired muscle car grip. This beauty rolls around on a set of 14 inch Rally Wheels wrapped in F70 Firestone Wide Oval Redline Tires, this also allows you to run the stock hubcaps, should you desire to do so, right on the rallys. Disc Brakes were added to give the car better braking performance, You all know how horrible drums are on these cars. I also had an aluminum radiator installed so there would not be any issues on a long summer drive. Some stock options are rear seat speaker and rear window de-fog. This is a Very Rare Car and a Must see. To show how nice this car is, the pictures with the water in the back ground are before the repaint. You do not see Cars like this very often. Any questions please call 760-220-9942 Thank you for looking. I have included some information on financing and also shipping, hope that helps. Car is for sale locally and may be ended at any time. Car is sold "as is, where is" with no warranty stated or implied. The winner of the car will also be responsible for any and all shipping cost. Please understand, we do our very best to describe in detail the condition of our vehicles, however, we are only human and these are used vehicles, therefore, American Auto Brokers, and their employees or agents will not be held accountable for errors or omissions in the description of the above vehicle or typographical errors in any of our vehicle listings. AMERICAN AUTO BROKERS MAKES EVERY EFFORT TO BE AS TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE WHEN OFFERING INFORMATION ABOUT THE INVENTORY ON OUR SITE. WE WILL DISCLOSE WHAT WE KNOW AND WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED REGARDING EACH VEHICLE, WHETHER IT IS PAINTWORK, PERFORMANCE ENHANCING EQUIPMENT OR ALTERED EXHAUST / EMISSIONS. WE DO NOT INSTALL ANY OF THIS TYPE OF EQUIPMENT, NOR DO WE TEST ITS PERFORMANCE. IT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED THAT YOU HAVE AN INDEPENDENT PRE-BUYER'S INSPECTION DONE. WE DO NOT REQUIRE YOU TO HAVE ONE DONE, HOWEVER WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FINDINGS AFTERWARDS SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO DISCARD YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE ONE DONE. All vehicle options (power opts, cd players/changers, audio equipment, entertainment systems/dvd, navigation systems/nav dvd, etc), specs, features, color descriptions, history, paint history, maintenance records and manufacturer's warranty information should be researched and confirmed by the buyer or third party service before completing purchase. Helpful research information can be found at Edmunds.com, AutoCheck.com, Carchex.com, CarFax.com, etc... At our dealership we work very hard to accurately describe our vehicles through text descriptions and elaborate photos. We hand select each vehicle we put on eBay. The vehicle shown is ALWAYS the vehicle being sold. Please look over the photos carefully as they are part of the description. When you purchase any pre-owned vehicle it is not a new vehicle. Any pre-owned vehicle can/will have normal wear, which may include, but not limited to, rock chips, scratches, scuffs, and minor interior wear, our policy is to disclose anything beyond that and we encourage pre-purchase inspections. When fresh inventory arrives, we do our best to inspect all power options, DVD systems, audio equipment, NAV systems, etc., however AAB will not be held liable or responsible for any of these items. ALL LIFTED AND FLAT BED UTILITY BED TRUCKS MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE SPARES. We will search and disclose paintwork. However, please bear in mind that this is an imperfect science. Also, you must note that often truck owners may choose to alter factory emissions and or exhaust to enhance performance or fuel economy. We often do acquire trucks that have these performance enhancing equipment already installed. This equipment may alter original emissions equipment or void factory warranties. We do not test or alter this equipment. If this is a concern of yours, please exercise your right to have a pre-purchase inspection prior to leaving your deposit. Our sales staff is available to assist in answering any specific cosmetic questions and will gladly walk around a vehicle to give you a more accurate description BEFORE a deposit is left. Ultimately, it is up to the potential buyer to do their due diligence. American Auto Brokers does not want to hide anything and we encourage everyone to have a pre-buyer's inspection done before purchase. Note: Our listing software provider allows the VIN to decode the ORIGINAL FACTORY EQUIPMENT that this vehicle had when it rolled off the factory line. There may/may not be additional dealer equipment that was added by the original selling dealer that will not be listed in this section. There may/may not also have items listed as original factory equipment that are no longer with the vehicle we are currently selling. For example: 2 sets of keys, keyless entry remotes, owner's manual, factory floor mats, Navigation discs, first aid kits, factory tires/size/load rating, spare tires/factory tools and/or jacks, etc. Please refer to the photos we have taken or ask us your specific concern to be certain there is no confusion. We will not be responsible for any discrepancies between the Original Factory Equipment section and what is presented in the photos or description. Please do not assume and allow us to put our answers to your specific concerns in writing. Human error is possible and we reserve the right to reverse any sale based on pricing/listing error which can occur at any time without notice. All inventory is listed for sale locally, therefore all are subject to sale at any time and may not be available. Everyone is encouraged to call with questions or concerns.
