This car has been in storage for the past 22 years and I had recently acquired it from the owner. I brought it home with the intentions of getting it looking and running new again but my wife convinced me I don't have the time for it. The engine looks great, but the carburetor floods the engine with too much fuel. It will start but the carburetors will flood quickly and need to be drained for it to start again. Other than very minor spots of surface rust, the car appears rust free. It has been in a Georgia barn for the past 22 years. Didn't mess with it, but it would take very little time to get it running. Brakes also need attention and need to be bled with new brake fluid at the least. My wife is making me get rid of it ASAP. call me with cash offers and come pick it up today. The windshield is missing but can be found fairly inexpensively. All the tail lights and other lights as well as rear view mirror are in the trunk. They were were removed to have them re-chromed because of pitting and surface rust. There is no rust in the floorboards or trunk or underbody as you can see in the pictures. Very rare car that is extremely hard to find not completely rusted through. As far as I can tell everything is original to the car including engine, transmission etc.. Georgia did not issue titles to cars prior to 1961 and they only issued titles on SOME cars from 1961 to 1985. This one is not titled. I am the 2nd owner of this black & gold 1980 Datsun 280ZX. It is number 2473 of 3000 of the 10th anniversary edition cars. I have owned the vehicle 9-1/2 years. I purchased it in June of 2007 in Farmington, Michigan from the original owner. It was stored in a warehouse there with other classic cars. It does not get used very much as you can tell by the low miles, 9421 miles. It has won it's class 3 times at the Japanese Classic Car Show (2007, 2008 & 2016) in California. It won 1st place in the Z division in 2015 at the Huntington Beach Concours Car Show. The car is always garaged or stored in a car trailer. All original paint. I have the original pinstriped Goodyear Wingfoot tires I use for car shows. There is plenty of tread on these tires and they are in great condition for 36 year old tires. Because of their age, I have been told it's not recommended to use them for regular driving. The wheels have the correct 10th anniversary wheel caps with chrome & the burnt orange color around the Z emblem on the caps. All other 1980 ZX's had standard chrome & black caps that still are available today. I have an extra set of tires (BF Goodrich Radial TA's) and 280ZX wheels for normal driving use. Since the car is originally from Michigan, it was undercoated by the dealership when purchased new. I had one of these anniversary cars when I was about 19 years old but couldn't afford to keep it. This one brought back great memories for me and I have enjoyed many car shows with it but I'm moving on to different things these days. With great handling and a balanced chassis, this 1982 Datsun 280ZX 2+2 provides a low-cost way into a pretty capable sports car that can still put a big grin on the driver's face. By looking at this car, you'd never really know that it has already passed its 30th birthday. Thanks to the bright silver color, which we believe is its original paint, it still looks sleek and contemporary and not nearly as dated as some of the other cars built in the early '80s. Typical of Japanese manufacturers of the period, build quality is quite good with sharp gaps and pieces that fit properly, and the paint job is holding up rather well, suggesting great care since it was new. Without stripes or add-ons like a rear wing, the car retains the clean look of the original Z-car, which itself was often compared to the E-Type Jaguar; heady company indeed. The bumpers are well-integrated into the overall design and black body side moldings add some contrast as well as being practical. The black anodized trim and rubber pieces strongly suggest a car that has always been well-maintained and kept out of the elements, and even the taillights are still bright and clear. The gray cloth interior shows a few hints of 1980s sensibility, but the bucket seats remain supremely comfortable for long hauls and supportive for aggressive maneuvers. No rips or tears in the seating surfaces are another sign of careful ownership and the original carpets remain in good shape thanks to the protection of matching embroidered floor mats. Instrumentation is traditional Z, with a big speedometer and tach for the driver and auxiliary gauges in the center of the dash, a look that still shows up in today's 370Z. Just about everything was standard on the 280ZX, including A/C, power windows, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo that was still pretty cutting-edge in 1982. The 2+2 models offered a modest rear seat that's good for kids or adults on short trips, and there's a good amount of storage space under the rear hatch, which also offers a full set of gray carpets that are in remarkable condition. The 2.8 liter inline-six provides silky smooth torque and a rorty sound that is definitely reminiscent of great sports cars from Europe. Thanks to fuel injection, it starts easily and pulls smoothly without getting fussy, and despite the complex-looking engine bay, these cars are rather easy to work on and parts are still plentiful. There are no obvious modifications and it drives like a stocker, so someone has definitely taken care of it along the way and the clean look speaks highly of the dedicated maintenance it has enjoyed. A 3-speed automatic transmission makes it easy for anyone to drive and doesn't dilute the experience one bit, as the suspension still grabs in corners and has a playful, tossable nature that only rear-wheel-drive sports cars can manage. Big disc brakes, a burly exhaust note, and handsome 6-spoke alloys with 195/70/14 Michelin radials all contribute to the entertainment factor. The day is surely coming when good Z-cars will make the A-list, but in the meantime, you'll be having too much fun behind the wheel to worry about it. This 1974 Datsun 260Z certainly qualifies. With a smooth-running inline-six and a cosmetic freshening, it's a handsome car that delivers a vintage driving experience that's easy to use in today's traffic. If you're looking for a fun, sporty, unusual driver that will always get people talking, it's hard to do better than this. The paint was refinished a few years ago in the original bright color, and compared to all the silver and black Z cars you see out there, it's a classic combination that looks remarkably good on the curvaceous sheetmetal. It's very clean and there are no obvious signs of rust or previous damage, making this the ideal car for a first-time buyer who isn't looking for a project. The purity of the original Z-car's shape is undeniably attractive, and the classic long nose profile is more Jaguar E-Type than Datsun functional, and the stretched wheelbase to add a back seat doesn't hurt the look one bit. Fit and finish are quite good, and the reputation that Japanese cars earned was based largely on cars like this that were worlds better than their domestic competition and it's noticeable today. The rubber bumpers remain in good condition with no cracking or fading and there's still enough chrome on it to look dressed up but not '70s goofy. The black vinyl interior is 100% original and remains in decent condition with plenty of life left in it. The seats show only moderate wear, with a few splits in the driver's seat, but the foam underneath remains firm and comfortable. The passenger's seat and rear seat are in excellent condition, as you'd expect, and the carpets have been protected by heavy-duty rubber mats, so they're tidy, too. All the gauges are fully functional, including the auxiliary gauges on the top center of the dash, which are a styling cue that still in use on Z-cars today. An automatic transmission, along with the larger engine and back seat, were concessions to American tastes, but it also makes the car comfortable and a first-class long-distance cruiser. For the most part, this car doesn't deviate much from the original spec, and even the original radio is still in the dash. Under the hatch, you get a good-sized trunk with nice carpets that haven't been backed by the sun. Datsun knew that the 260Z needed to be competitive, so the 2.6 liter inline-six is a gutsy powerplant that revs smoothly and delivers impressive torque. Thanks to nicely tuned twin side-draft carburetors, it starts and idles beautifully, and pulls through the gears with a musical tenor that you'll enjoy every time you fire it up. The engine bay is tidy and clean, showing signs of conscientious maintenance throughout its life and plenty of recent parts. The big orange air cleaner gives it a purposeful look and there aren't many aftermarket upgrades, suggesting that this car has always led an easy life. The 3-speed automatic transmission slips through the gears almost telepathically, and suspension is supple yet athletic, showcasing the car's grand touring mission. It rolls on a handsome set of factory alloys wearing 205/75/14 blackwall radials that fill the fenders just right. The same things that made the original Z-car popular when it was new makes it a fabulous collector piece today: great performance, fun handling, and reliable mechanicals. This car was dynode at 226 HP. that's a huge movement from the 80ish factory .WANT MORE POWER? upgrade the Turbo to a T28 ( from the T25) and have over 250 HP If you know about these cars you know the 65 67 were a lower windshield and are becoming a rare find. they built approx. 8000 from 1965 to March 1967. I was told by many people that a CA18 can not be put in a roadster. Guess what ... They are wrong its in it runs it drives . huge intercooler up front is the only way you see that's not factory .. she looks stock until you hit the throttle. then HOLD ON!! The series was a predecessor to the Z-car in the Fairlady line, and offered an competitor to the European MG, Triumph, Fiat and Alfa Romeo sports cars.
