The styling combines the traditional upright grille with a streamlined body, to create one of the best-looking cars of the period, no matter the manufacturer. This unusual two-door sedan with its integrated trunk is a neat look that remains faithfully original today. Many of these tudor sedans have been turned into hot rod over the years, but this one is more about an honest 1930s experience. The gently rounded fenders with their peaked crease through the middle, the highly detailed hood vents, and practical yet stylish trunk with integrated rear-mount spare tire, it has all been transported intact from 1936. Finished in Henry Ford's favorite color, high-gloss black, it looks sensible, and nicely finished, with a nice red pinstripe to give it a high-class attitude. It kinda looks like a tuxedo, especially with the whitewall tires. All the original brightwork is intact - from the neatly dipped bumpers, to the original door handles, to the blue-dot lens taillights. It even still has the big, bold, V8 logo on top of the grille. The interior looks thoroughly original right down to the gray mohair fabric on the buckets seats and doors. Ford's advertisements in 1936 praised the "Center-Poised" seat position, for the easy riding comfort, and today we'd just call it nicely plush. Even for its age, this car is a great cruiser. The steering wheel is well-worn from nearly 80 years on the road, and so your hands fit nicely into grooves that were created over generations of drivers. Every button, dial, and knob is period-correct, to make this Ford feel like a time machine. There are even plenty of spare components that come with this car to keep it feeling like it's frozen in time. Open the hood, and the honest feeling continues. The 221 cubic-inch flathead motor is the ionic V8 that earned Ford its powerful reputation. This one has been dressed up with a few chrome accessories, such as the head bolts, air cleaner, and radiator piping, to attract the car show crowd, but you can still tell this motor is more about being a '30s machine than a hot rod. There's a similar situation with the new dual exhaust that still makes that unmistakable flathead sound. Most people would think twice about a journey in a car from 1936, but this one has been restored and maintained to be quite practical. The motor was rebuilt 2,000 miles ago, and it runs good on regular fuel. The three-speed manual transmission, combined with a new 3.55 rear end ratio makes this tudor versatile on the highway. Its time to get your hands on an exceptionally well-preserved '30s Ford (it even comes with the original owner's manual). Very unique chopped top. The roof is actually two halves of the roof from a Volvo station wagon, custom fit to the cab. This gives the hot rod a one of a kind look. Meticulous body work was done. Even though the top, as well as the paint, was done years ago, there is no cracking, shrinkage, bubbling, or popping. The finish still maintains a glossy shine. There are a few typical mars and chips from driving and showing, but overall the paint is in very good shape. Rear wheel wells are finished in Torch Red gravel guard. There is one rub mark that is visible in the photos in the rear driver side wheel well. A set of larger rear tires were originally mounted, but did not fit. There is one slight bump in the body work on the roof, just above the windshield wiper at the drip rail. This a solid bump, not a paint or rust bubble. I don’t know what it is, but it appears stable. Walker brass radiator with thermostatically controlled cooling fan. Engine runs within correct temperature range, does not overheat. Dynoed at 469 rear wheel horsepower. B&M straight pattern manual valve body Turbo 350 with 3300 RPM stall converter. Heavy duty driveshaft. Ford 8” rear differential. Posi Traction. Richmond 3.23:1 rear gears. Moser rear axles. The car was inspected by the National Street Rod Association, inspection sticker applied, and tag displaying original VIN number affixed to firewall. Vehicle is legal, with clean, clear Illinois title that has been transferred in the past. The same procedure is followed today with new street rod builds, except the police now assign a Secretary of State (SOS) vin number. NSRA inspection sticker still affixed to windshield. Illinois is one of the more strict states as to titling street rods, so I assume this car would be street legal in all 50 states. However, if you live in a state that has odd titling and inspection laws, check with your DMV before buying the car. I believe he owned it for close to 30 years. When I purchased the car it was my intention to use it for touring until I finished my another vintage Ford. Now that car is running and I have a new project. I need the space more than I need the car. I believe these old cars need to be driven and I drive it at least once a week long enough to keep the seals lubricated and working. I have driven the car up and down the west coast and into Canada. When looking for a car I would ask the sellers if I could fly in and drive it home to the opposite coast. That is when the excuses usually start. This gentleman responded “absolutely”. This car was restored from a solid survivor. It’s not a pieced together junker that was cosmetically restored to turn a quick buck. The car comfortably cruises at 60 to 70 mph, stops and handles well. I installed duals with glass pack mufflers. Other than then dual exhaust and an auxiliary electric fuel pump, the car is stock. The previous owner told me over the phone that it was not a show car but I believe he did say he placed in the touring class of several national meets. The car draws attention wherever I go and it shows well at the local cruises and show and shines. This is a car you can take the family and go as far as your heart desires. I would not hesitate to leave today for any destination on this continent. The interior is a correct reproduction from Lebaron Bonney. The radio was recently rebuilt and worked fine till I messed with the antenna and now it needs a new antenna cable. The clock was replaced but does not keep correct time. The person who rebuilt it will repair it at no cost. The heater and defroster work as do the windshield wipers. The trunk has been restored as well and includes a spare tire and wheel. The exterior is clean and rust free. I have not seen any indication of previous accidents or rust repair. The paint is the correct original color and shows well but is not perfect. The original color still shows in the trunk and door jams. The chrome and stainless is bright and shiny. The glass is good and all windows operate. The car comes with white wall bias tires but I have a set of new chrome wheels and radials that could be purchased separately. I am not an expert on the authenticity of old Ford automobiles and don’t want to represent myself as one. However, this car looks like a very authentic original car to me and any of the general public who has seen it. This is a car you can fly or drive in and drive home. I have tried my best to accurately describe the car but there is no substitute for a personal inspection. You can contact me for additional information and pictures. All questions should be asked and inspections made before committing to buy. The car is for sale locally and is priced below what I have in it by several thousand dollars. Please don't waste my time or yours with low ball offers. I will be traveling from California to Ohio on January 12th with an empty trailer.
