I am only relisting MY car as a help to those that may be looking at the "other" lime green 442 convertible listed on ebay currently. The so called dealer representing it has used all of my information in their ad. After this was brought to my attention (by those who know this car) and after 2 weeks of discussions with ebay I am forced to put my ad up to prove that their decription is indeed false. I will let the viewing audience be the judge of what accolades go with what car. THEIR car has not been judged by the venues mine has, it was not born in Nashville TN , I know the original owner and have pictures of he and I standing with this car.A close look at THEIR car will tell a knowledgable car guy what he is looking at right away with regard to the quality of the restoration. Ebay has been absolutely no help and if you were to inquire about the "OTHER" car listed...the voicemail if full, how convenient. Its really too bad when one has to repeatedly state their case, send proof, pictures and it goes absolutely no where. Secondly, I'd like to say that I have been on ebay for well over 10 years and have taken pride to retain a 100% feedback rating. When it comes to advertising a car, I take great time and pride to explain or depict a cars condition through pictures. I never understood how one can think of selling or buying a car without the proper presentation. I also do this as I am a collector myself and like you I ask a ton of questions whether the car be worth $1000 or $100,000. If one were to just take the time to show the car in its entirety then a lot of questions would be answered with that alone. with that being said, I encourage you to take the time to let the 200+ pictures of this beautifully restored 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible upload. HISTORY This car was a demonstrator for awhile at Hippodrome Olds in Nashville TN. It was purchased In September of 1971 by Lloyd Esmon. He had been looking for one and a few days after visiting the dealership his salesman had called to say they had one to sell. Don Deathridge sold the car to him for $4448.59 after fees and discount. (This is one of 1096 convertibles made this year). Lloyd drove the car until the late 70's and took good car of it and recorded all of its oil- gas fill ups along with the gallons used and the price of gas at the time. I have those little record books. He then sold it to a cousin in Il. Vern in IL had the car painted once in the 80's in a shade of green not quite like the lime green should have been. Later Lloyds son Dwight purchased the car and it moved to FL. It had been cared for there until about 2005 and it was then that it went up for sale for the first time out of the family. I purchased it from the 4th owner and he had made some motor improvements but always keeping the original parts and original motor-trans intact. MY OWNERSHIPI have owned the car since 2008. It was a car show, cruise night car for us. It was then in late 2011 I decided to go all in and give it a proper restoration. I am a stickler for quality and correctness and almost all the work was done by myself. It received a full frame off restoration spanning 11 months and nearly 800 hours. (keep in mind this was a rust free car). RESTORATION During the restoration, I bag and tag everything. The factory grabbed nuts and bolts at random and this car retains all of them. I also write down where they all go as the order they were installed. Several fastener companies were used and I made sure I left all the different marked bolt heads as they were and they all were restored or replated in their correct finishes. As parts were taken off I documented the various inspection marks and colorings on different parts. All cars were different and humans made those marks. Every car I restore turns out a little different because of this. Remember there were many different plants and shifts of people doing the build process so not all had the same marks. The car was spared of no expense and detail. when working on such a pristine car and have no rust pits to fix, the end result is stunning. The frame is pit free, as is suspension components. The floors still have the runs and body caulk that was applied originally. On a car this nice I am able to keep all those things that are only correct one time in its life. The car is arrow straight, the paint is far nicer than they were then, the trunk has the proper trunk spatter as the Lansing plant applied. All the sheetmetal on the car is original to it. I did add the hood though. I found years ago a hood that had been a take off of a 1971 cutlass in 1979. It was the most pristine original paint hood I have ever seen and I saved it for this car. Original perfect hoods are second to none and this one I carefully restored to be as close to authentic when I restored it. There were no stress cracks anywhere and I left all the areas white that you can see from the bottom white. These top skins were white and then bonded to the painted black bottoms. I duplicated the dates and inspection marks along with the proper assembly line overspray technique. A close look at the photos show that no part or fastener was left alone. DRIVETRAIN The block, trans and rear (now a 3:42 posi) are original to the car. Prior to me owning it, the 4th owner decided to spruce it up a bit. The car runs so incredible and quick, I made a tough decision to leave all that hard work and $$$ alone. While stock appearing the car is using a set of edelbrock heads, intake and carb. It has a bunch of mondello receipts to back it up. It idles healthy, starts right up and it has enough vacuum for power brakes. It is not radical at all but definitely healthier than a normal '71 455. I do have the original heads and intake but the carb is gone.Transmission was gone through, resealed and factory markings were re applied as they were found. OPTIONS Car was not ordered with many options. On the window sticker it shows, auto transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, a/c, tinted window, am radio, door guards, deluxe belts with rear retainers front mats and the light group. The car has all of the 5 original SS3 wheels. Car also has a seldom seen front air deflector re-inforcement. It can be seen in the photos and is rumored to be only on 71 4 speed cars. I have spoke with the past owners and even Lloyd had said "why would I add that as I don't even know what it is?" A NOS heater control valve was used as it is a 1971 only style with the vacuum diaphragm on it, and although it is not an option it was added to make the car even more correct. The am radio was replaced with a rebuilt am fm unit with modern internals and a Sirius radio located in the ash tray area if one decided to start using the car as intended. INTERIOR All the interior was in good shape but with the level I was going for with this car I turned to Legendary for it all. I kept all the original covers and door panels. I was able to keep the original carpet. Nothing fits better than the original and it also proves how the car was cared for. Some pictures show how nice the floors are with all the lime green paint on them and again I left them as is because there was no restoration needed to cover anything. BODY As stated before all the sheetmetal is original to the car and I added a few pictures of the bare floor areas to show indeed how nice they are. The trunk and floor pans did not have as much as a pin hole. Be confident knowing that this is not one of those cars that needed wheel tubs, quarters, donor doors and fenders and a full trunk pan. Actually one lower fender needed a patch about the size of a half dollar. GLASSEvery piece of glass is original. The windshield has a couple small chips but to me I'd rather say that it has never been out. BUMPERS Show chrome and replated bumper guards with new rub strips. All hardware, rear light housing guards, front marker lights and wiring was plated and cleaned to perfection. TOP New top, pad and well liner. Legendary boot goes with and the top has yet to be down due to the car's show circuit condition. Top will move up and down as it should if one decides to do so. TRIM All trim is original and has been polished to a high standard. Some original screws had to be sourced due to age but the proper clear plastic washers were used when necessary like the originals. TRUNK During the restoration I had found a way to duplicate as close as possible the way the original spatter was applied. It was originally done quickly with mediocre coverage at best and each car was different. each plant seemed to have either a different layout texture, color or pattern. Assembly line guys I've talked to over the years said that there were different vendors for these paints and they just used whatever they had. All lansing cars I have found have this style of big spot patterning and is an often missed step in a nice restoration. PAPERWORK Lloyd kept good records. The car has the auto log books as previously mentioned. It has its original window sticker and dealer copy of that sticker. It has 2 buyers invoice bill of sales, 1 typed and 1 hand written. 2 broadcast sheets and one production code sheet along with various cancelled check receipts to the dealer. No lansing build cars ever got a big build sheet, that is why other supporting documents are so important to have. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Since being finished I took it down to Nashville before a car show to show the original owner, his wife, his son Dwight and his wife. They were so thrilled to see it and Lloyd said it sure looks a lot better than he ever remembered. His son flew in from FL to see it an couldn't believe it was the same car. It sure made my day and I am happy when I can still talk to original owners of cars I own. The days of this happening are shrinking and to me the story that goes with the car is priceless .It then scored a 989-1000 at the 2013 Oldsmobile Nationals. Later that fall it scored a gold award (992-1000) at MCACN (musclecar and corvette nationals). In august 2014 it entered it's first AACA (antique auto club of America) and took a 1st junior award. Out of all the oldsmobile winners in 2014 It was selected for the prestigious REO OLDS award (only one olds or gmc is awarded this each year). I flew to the AACA annual meet this past February to accept the award and it was quite the honor for the car and myself. The car could go on to win an AACA senior if so desired and I can transfer the junior award to the new owner if they intend to take it further.THE FUTURE I have wrestled with the decision of furthering the car's show career, starting to drive it more (has only driven about 15 miles since completed) charge the A/C and use it as it should, or sell. I have decided to let a new caretaker come along and enjoy it. A decision like this is tough when you put your own blood sweat and tears into a project. I did the car this way because I could, and it helped to have a decent amount of knowledge of 442's to work with to help along the way. I also feel that the nicer the car to start, the better it will turn out and stay. I have been to the major auction houses and have seen the cars that are bought and sold. I would rather see the car go to a true appreciative car collector that knows what it takes to do a car this way. I encourage anyone to come and look for themselves as this car truly fits the phrase "pictures don't do it justice" Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at anytime for any reason. Thanks for viewing. Jason 414-688-060four Sale Terms and Conditions Please let the 200+ photos of this incredibly gorgeous 442 make you comfortable with a purchase. First off, I am listing this for a friend and ALL comments or concerns are to be made to Joe @ 414-761-0968. I am the listing the ad going off of what has been told to me by the owner. Please look at the 40+ pictures and take the time to appreciate the work involved. Now the vehicle....Have you ever been driving on a country road and see the old abandoned car or truck in a field or next to a barn and wondered if anything could be done with it? If so then this is what is possible. This truck started life as a 31 model A ford sedan. It was trailered back from the dead and put in the hands of a long time body man with a talent for his fabrication and resurrection abilities. The body was cut to make a truck cab, channeled 4" to cover most of the frame and the top was chopped. The box was shortened to as shown length and a custom steel floor was made with a door for the hidden fuel filler. The frame was fabbed from 2"/4" square tubing and c-notched in the rear over the 8" rear end. The rear also has 1946 split bones and tube shocks all around. Steering the truck is a 50's style shoebox steering wheel and column attatched to a F-100 steering box. The car stops via '40 ford juice brakes and the master cylinder is under the driver floor. Powering this truck is an all rebuilt chevy 283 with a turbo 350 automatic transmission. A custom air cleaner from an old chevy was made to fit on top of the 4 barrel carb. It starts right up with a few pumps of the gas and drives- handles well. It has all its glass in working order as is the flip out front window. All major bodywork has been done and you will notice the attention to detail such as the rounded and lengthened cab by a few inches as the gentlemen it was built for was over 6' tall. Also the subtle touches continue with how the front portion of the cap has a notch in it to sit over the frame. The frame and front end is all painted gloss black and looks great. The truck was given a patina look with primer. It would take a round of final block sanding to prep this truck for paint if one desired. Overall this is a turn key hot rod that can be used right away as is, or slowly one could make updates to it such as paint or interior etc. Hundreds and hundreds of hours were invested to make this vehicle the way you see it today. This truck has had ALOT of investment put into it which the owner is reluctantly willing to absorb to move on to another project. Truck is located 90 miles north of Milwaukee and 30 miles north of the IL border. Sale Terms and Conditions Please let the 40+ photos of this truck make you comfortable with a purchase. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Before we begin, I want you to know that like you, I'm a classic car and truck fanatic. I've also been an eBayer since February, 1998 and take pride in only receiving positive feedback over the last 17+ years. I've owned dozens of cars over the years and have made many sight unseen deals (many here on eBay) to buy or sell cars across the country. In addition, I strongly believe in the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The Internet has allowed us in our hobby to search for cars nationwide and it's my hope to make you as comfortable as possible with this purchase. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to care for this Hurst Olds during the last year or so and I personally took all of the photographs and video. These survivor cars are raising eyebrows in our hobby, as more and more cars are receiving the vanilla restoration treatment. My restoration friends and I have watched these survivor cars very quietly increase in value to the point that they're rivaling restored cars. If you really want a unique car, purchase one that's never been restored. If you've owned a survivor, I think you'll agree that they drive better and feel better. There's something about an original survivor that is hard to describe unless you've owned one. Please sit back with your favorite beverage, enjoy the lengthy description, 7 video links, and 400+ photos of this incredibly special, true unrestored survivor, 90+ % original paint, Born-With Drivetrain, 1972 Hurst Olds. Background We're all car freaks and know the story. By 1972, the insurance companies were clamping down the seemingly out of control Muscle Car movement of the last 10 years. In addition, increasing environmental controls were forcing manufacturers to lower compression and add exhaust cleaning equipment to our cars. While Chevy, Ford, and Mopar waved their white flags and exited the Muscle Car era quite quickly, Oldsmobile and Pontiac still hung on and figured out ways how to make their cars go fast. The secret (in my humble opinion) lied in still producing gobs of torque and allowing these big blocks to breath. Even with lower compression, these Oldsmobile 455's lived up to their "Rocket" namesake and moved these warmed-up H/O cars down the road in a hurry. This H/O wears its Hurst badging with pride and is a testament to Oldsmobile's dedication to finding ways to sell exciting cars as the era was winding down. The 1972 Hurst Olds is a necessary car in a collection, as it accurately documents Oldsmobile's refusal to leave the Muscle Car era without a fight. I purchased this '72 Hurst Olds last fall from the 2nd owner in Indiana. He purchased the car from the original owner in Indianapolis during winter, 2014. That's right, this was just a 1 owner car for its first 42 years. The registration records show that the car was titled through the family business, and appeared to be a daily driver for its first year or so (looking at registration mileage each year). Since about 1974, registration records show that this H/O saw anywhere from several hundred to about a thousand miles each summer. That's it. Otherwise, it's been garaged, out of the elements and just given regular exercise. Please take a peek at the vintage photos of the car, with the Indy 500 graphics still on the doors. In addition, please don't forget to take a look at nearly EVERY registration receipt since 1972, the original voided title, and the dealer paperwork that goes with this car. Documentation with a car like this really helps tell this special car's story and I'm excited to have some neat paperwork to document the H/O's history, authenticity, and mileage. Overview Without a doubt, the best part about caring for this car has been driving it. I took a chance last fall and drove the car about 250 miles back to Wisconsin after purchasing it in Indiana. I was incredibly impressed by the way the car drove and ran! After a winter hibernation in heated storage, I was excited to get this well documented Hurst Olds back on the road. The attention this car gets on the street and at local shows is pretty amazing. Be prepared to chat with people! With "Pace Cars" as its theme this year, I reunited the H/O with some of its Indy Pace Car brothers at the Iola car show in northern Wisconsin. Prior to making the nearly 400 mile round trip, I had new AC plugs, date coded wires, points, condenser, cap, and rotor installed. I saved all of the replaced parts and was shocked to see green striped AC plugs and the ORIGINAL wires still on the car! Even the cap, rotor, and points were all AC Delco components. During the round trip, I averaged about 13.6 mpg while travelling at 68-72 mph, a testament to the health of the driveline and overall health of this terrific piece of history. If you're excited about these survivor Muscle Cars, use the previous story about driving to Iola to fuel your fire. Survivors just seem to run and drive better. I can honestly say that something is lost when cars are restored. The doors never close the same, the steering is never the same, and they certainly don't own the road like an original car does. Options What makes this car so special is its unique list of options. Of course, it's a Hurst Olds. But, did you know that 1972 saw the lowest production of Hurst Olds cars? Just 279 hardtop H/O cars were made, which is why you see so few of these today. Even including the convertibles and sunroof cars, just 629 Hurst Olds cars were made in '72. In addition to a warmed-up 455 rocket V8, the H/O package included the F41 suspension package, OAI (Ram Air) fiberglass hood, bucket seats and console with famed Hurst Dual Gate shifter , Rally Pack gauges (tach is inaccurate, clock stopped, but all others operate properly), GM's indestructible 400 TH transmission, partial vinyl top, and incredibly cool looking reflective stripe package. In addition, this car has some other unique options to set it apart from the others. The factory cruise control still operates, the AM pushbutton radio works like it should and holds stations, the factory Air Conditioning blows ice cold!, and the lighting package offers additional interior lighting. Finally, this car appears to have the nearly impossible to find Hurst installed alarm system. The alarm currently does not work, but I have the key. I think this would be a neat project to work on, as it would be really cool to have the alarm operate properly again! Paperwork and Numbers This Hurst Olds is well documented and adds considerably to its pedigree. Included with the sale are some vintage photos of the car back in the 70s. In addition, a broadcast sheet was found in the car and it backs up the car's heritage as a true H/O and documents its other options. The original voided title is included, as well as the Protect-o-Plate, and other dealer paperwork. Incredibly, the original owner managed to save nearly every registration receipt from 1972-2014. These receipts help document the car's original mileage and shows how well cared-for this car is. In addition, I've provided photos of the engine pad, transmission tag, and rear end code to document the "Big Three Driveline Items" as born with this car. I was unable to find a VIN derivative on the transmission case, but it's the correct OD tranny and its production date is correct for this car's April completion date. I have no doubt it's the born-with transmission. The rear is the correct SR coded 3.23 axle ratio and again is dated consistently with this car's production date. I didn't go crazy documenting the starter, alternator, water pump, etc. I suspect by looking at it, that the water pump has been replaced. The alternator has a factory stamp on it and I'm guessing that it's original to the car. I did decode the Quadrajet, however, and it checks out as correct for this car and within its build date. Now, here's an interesting story: while decoding the intake manifold, I learned that the non-W30 Hurst Olds cars should have an iron intake manifold. After decoding the aluminum intake that is installed on the car, it checks out as a December-later 1970 W30 intake! Now, we could speculate for days why the intake was swapped, as other go-fast goodies weren't swapped out on the car. It looks like it's been there forever, but it's a stretch to think that there was a leftover 1970 W30 intake left in April 1972. So, while not correct for the car, I've seen these intakes sell for $1,000+, so it's the best incorrect intake to have on the car! If you need me to get a number off another part, I will do the best I can to help. Mechanicals Set the choke, turn the key, and this car fires. That's it. As mentioned in the attached videos, this car isn't even too cold-blooded. It runs quite well even while warming up. As mentioned, the car was treated to some tune-up items before a recent road trip. The car brakes properly, the suspension is tight, the BF Goodrich tires look nearly new, the car stays cool, and drives incredibly straight down the road. The engine and transmission both leak a bit, as most of my old cars do. This car seems to drip less the more often it's driven, so maybe a few more miles will continue to help those gaskets swell. I haven't hesitated to take this car on longer drives, but please remember that it's still a 43 year old car. Please don't start driving it like your 2013 Tahoe. As far as what I think the car might need: as noted, the exhaust is ORIGINAL! The mufflers have started to leak a bit, but I would continue to drive the car as is until it's absolutely necessary to replace the exhaust. It's incredibly impressive to see those GM stamped mufflers and factory chrome trumpet tips out the back! Lastly, sometimes when passing, the car will hesitate a bit in the upper rpm range. It doesn't completely puke, but it sometimes sputters a bit. This is intermittent and as you saw, the car ran excellent under hard acceleration in the videos. But here and there, under acceleration, it'll hesitate. Maybe consider sending the carb to Sparky some upcoming winter? Maybe it's the accelerator pump? Otherwise, just drive it, as it hasn't bothered me. But, to make a long distance transaction as comfortable as possible, I want to mention everything I'm aware of. Exterior After having several restoration artists look the car over, we all believe that about 90% of the paint is original. There's a section on the driver's side rear quarter that appears to have been sprayed. This section is lacquer checking and extends from the middle of the wheel well to about the H/O decal. The passenger front fender also shows some blending on about half the panel and is also showing some lacquer checking. The photos also show the small spots of rust on the bottoms of the front fenders. I chose to leave both of the fenders as is, as I preferred to keep this car as untouched as possible. If a future owner would like to throw small patches in, it'd be pretty easy to do so. Please note the very minor bubbling under the vinyl top that is shown in the photos. Also, please note that the glass in this car is gorgeous, but the windshield took a stone at some point and has a chip...again, shown in the photos. Please note that although the trim is nice and the chrome shows well, this car has scratches and some dings. I tried to point out as much as I could in the photos, but it's an unrestored car, so some wear needs to be expected with these survivor cars. Finally, notice that this H/O has all 4 T3 headlights in it. If you're not impressed, you haven't tried to find the incredibly rare, 1972 only, T3 headlights. Unfortunately, one bulb burned out on the way home from Iola, so keep that in mind when purchasing. I'll start looking for a replacement... Interior The unrestored interior is as original as the exterior. The dash is gorgeous, as is the console!!! The driver's side seat shows just a little wear in the stitching, but otherwise the interior shows in nearly new condition. If the vehicle was ever smoked in, it's been many, many years, as there's no hint of cigarette smell in it. Just the classic GM interior smell. I'll let the photos talk on this one, but note the dynamite headliner, steering wheel, carpet, and door panels. Wow, wow, wow!! Engine Compartment & Undercarriage I really dig these unrestored old cars and trucks, so I resisted every temptation to start painting parts under the hood of this car. Other than some cleaning of the inner fenders and under the hood, I left the engine compartment as is. I did, however, succumb to my inner pressure, and touched up the frame rails on both sides. Scold me all you want, but this is the one thing on the car I felt I had to do. Both frame rails were full of chipping undercoating and looked super tacky. I carefully masked the pinch welds and needle scaled the frame rails between the tires. I wiped them down with prep-sol and sprayed them with Permatex rust killer. After drying overnight, two top coats of correct sheen black made the frame rails look nice again, like the rest of the car. Note the plethora of tags, marks, and paint dabs on the undercarriage. I had SEVERAL people at the Oldsmobile Nationals photographing the various markings on the car to reference for their own car. This is pretty interesting: note that there are areas of the floor boards where the undercoating has worn off or chipped. The exposed area shows gorgeous factory black paint and also shows how the factory overspray ended up on the floor boards. If time permits, the next owner may want to consider removing more of the undercoating to expose the untouched, preserved floors. Bottom Line If you've been on the prowl for a survivor Muscle Car to add to your collection, I think this is a dynamite choice. This '72 H/O is as honest as they get. It's well documented, has a born-with driveline, has been well-preserved, and drives fantastically well. Please call Jeff with any questions. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 First off, I'd like to say that I have been on Ebay for well over 10 years and have taken pride to retain a 100% feedback rating. When it comes to advertising a car, I take great time and pride to explain or depict a cars condition through pictures. I never understood how one can think of selling or buying a car without the proper presentation. I also do this because I am a collector myself and like most I ask a ton of questions no matter what the cars value. It was purchased In September of 1971 by Lloyd Esmon and was built late (july 23rd 1971). Vern while in IL had the car painted once in the 80's in a shade of green not quite like the code 43 lime green it should have been. It never saw a winter while in the Midwest. Later Lloyds son Dwight purchased the car and it moved to FL. It had been cared for there until about 2005, had the engine rebuilt and it was then that it went up for sale for the first time out of the family. I purchased it from the 4th owner and he had made some motor improvements but always keeping the original parts and original motor-trans intact. MY OWNERSHIP I have owned the car since 2008. It is pretty neat when I tell people that all 5 owners of this car including #1 are still with us. RESTORATION During the restoration, I bagged and tagged everything. The factory would grab nuts and bolts at random during the build process and this car retains all of them. I even made a batch of body seam sealer to match the peach colored body plug caulk. some cars had this color and others I have had used the light green variation. The car is arrow straight and was blocked out more times than I can recall. The Sherwin Williams base/clear paint is far nicer than they were then, the trunk has the proper trunk spatter as the Lansing plant applied. All the sheetmetal on the car is original to it. I used photos I take from original paint cars to document the proper side pinstripes and I was also able to measure off of the original stripes I un-earthed while stripping the body to bare metal. I did add the ram air hood though. A close look at the photos show that no part or fastener on this car was left alone. I do have the original heads and intake but the carb is gone. Due to the intake, I display the OAI plastic top at shows but need to remove it for driving. It is an inch higher and it causes some interference when the hood is closed. Transmission was gone through, resealed and factory markings were re applied as they were found. Mechanically speaking, the car doesn't need anything. I still have a set of reproduction kick panels with the speakers built in if one would choose to used the radio. The A/C system was blowing ice cold prior to the restoration and was converted correctly to 134. It has not been charged since the car has not seen much road use. Rally pac and gauges were added by previous owner. GLASS Every piece of glass is original. The windshield has a couple small chips but to me I'd rather say that it has never been out. all side glass is nice, date coded and line up as they should. Jack has a very nice mast with its correct plating intact and the other pieces were restored properly. I see soo many cars advertised or at big auctions that have had options added or sit there with not an ounce of paperwork. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Since being finished I took it down to Nashville before a car show to show the original owner, his wife, his son Dwight and his wife. They were so thrilled to see it and Lloyd said it sure looks a lot better than he ever remembered. His son flew in from FL to see it an couldn't believe it was the same car he once owned. It sure made my day and I am happy when I can still talk to original owners of cars I own. The days of this happening are shrinking and to me the story that goes with the car is priceless . It then scored a 989-1000 at the 2013 Oldsmobile Nationals. The car could go on to win an AACA senior if so desired and I can transfer the junior award to the new owner if they intend to take it further. I was recently asked if I wanted to show it in the Milwaukee masterpiece (a concours event this august) THE FUTURE I have wrestled with the decision of furthering the car's show career, starting to drive it more (has only driven about 15 miles since completed) charge the A/C and use it as it should, or sell. I have decided to let a new caretaker come along and enjoy it. A decision like this is tough when you put your own blood sweat and tears into a project. I did the car this way because I could, and it helped to have a decent amount of knowledge of 442's to work with and help along the way. I also feel that the nicer the car to start, the better it will turn out and stay. I have been to the major auction houses and have seen the cars that are bought and sold. It boggles my mind to see cars sold and the new owner may not know the seller or know anything about the car at all. I would rather see the car go to a true appreciative car collector that knows what it takes to do a car this way. I encourage anyone to come and look for themselves as this car truly fits the phrase "pictures don't do it justice" Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at anytime for any reason. I am in Milwaukee, located about 90 miles north of downtown Chicago and 30 miles from the IL border. I encourage any questions or inspections to be done prior to the auctions end. By now I would hope that one would get a good feel for the car and after looking at over 200 pictures that one can see I'm trying to be straight forward about the car. Thanks for viewing. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Before we begin, I want you to know that like you, I'm a classic car and truck fanatic. I've also been an eBayer since 1998 and take pride in only receiving positive feedback over the last 17+ years. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to care for this truck for the last two years and I personally took all of the photographs and video (my sister helped with the videos). Please sit back with your favorite beverage and enjoy the lengthy description, 6 video links, and 270+ photos of this incredibly special, true survivor, Born-With Big Block / 400 Trans, Factory Air, 1972 Chevy Cheyenne Super Pickup. How Does A Big Block Cheyenne Super Survivor Come Out Of The Woodwork? I purchased this stunning Cheyenne Super from a gentleman in Iowa a couple years ago. He purchased it from the son of the owner who had it since 1975. My understanding is the 2nd owner was a farmer and saw the truck sitting on a Chevrolet OK Used Car lot way back in '75. The Dark Olive paint and Cheyenne Super package really caught his eye and he made a deal to bring the truck home from town. With mileage in the low 30,000 range, the idea was to use this pickup as his "going to town" truck. However, the owner was used to driving straight-6 powered Chevy pickups and wasn't thrilled about the big block's gas mileage. Remember, this was the gas crunch and fuel was expensive! The truck was soon parked in the barn and was used sparingly for the next 25 years or so. In the early 2000's, the elderly owner's son wisely decided to resurrect the Cheyenne Super. It was tuned up, got some new tires, and got back on the road. With mileage now in the 45,000 range, the truck started to see some car show and cruising duty. Finally, in 2010 or 2011, the truck was sold to the gentleman I bought the truck from in Iowa. What is consistent with all owners over the years is the understanding that this truck wasn't just another C10. Everyone understood how special this truck is and went to great lengths to honor its heritage and make sure it wasn't left to the elements. In addition to the glove box SPID showing all options, I have the original dealer inspection sheet for this truck. This piece of documentation is incredibly valuable, as it has the engine and transmission serial numbers on it, which match the numbers in the photos I provide. I have no reason to believe this truck doesn't have its born-with drivetrain. Typically, this wouldn't be that important with a C10, but since this is a big block truck, I went through the work to show photos to document the born-with items. Overview I thoroughly enjoy driving this pickup whenever I get a chance. If you've read this far, you know how hard it is to find a documented, unrestored, big block, Cheyenne Super. It's a true survivor, well cared-for pickup, with what I believe is 100% original paint and just over 53,000 miles. The factory Dark Olive and White two tone paint scheme is among the most attractive combinations on these Chevy trucks and I get compliments whenever this truck is driven. I've attempted to be extremely careful with what I replaced on this truck, so I could honor its unrestored state. I've replaced items on this picked that absolutely needed it, like: spark plugs, wires (correct date coded wires installed), correct reproduction hoses, and tires. However, I've gone to great lengths to keep this truck as unrestored as possible, so you'll see paint missing on the engine block and the wheel wells aren't going to be dark satin black. I've done the engine compartment paint & undercarriage detail route with cars in the past, but I felt like this wasn't the right way to honor this truck's unrestored state. If the new owner decides to go in another direction, that's completely their choice. This wonderful pickup gets a ton of looks at local shows and cruise-ins and I also don't hesitate to drive it on longer, 80-90 mile round-trip cruises. The pickup starts, runs, and drives very well. The original, single stage, Dark Olive Metallic paint has been professionally conditioned and polished to a swirl-free gloss and shows VERY nicely. Note the photos showing the high level of reflection from the paint and note that indoor photos are also included to show how well the truck shines under fluorescent lights too. Also notice throughout the photos that this original pickup has many original factory markings on the firewall, brake booster, alternator, springs, tie rod ends, etc! Although this truck was undercoated, I've been able to uncover a bunch of these original markings and more are bound to be discovered. Options What makes this truck so special is its long list of scarce options and unrestored state. Take a peek at the photo of the SPID and see how well optioned this truck is! Factory options include: Cheyenne Super Package 402 Big Block (Chevy listed this as a 400)Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission4 Season Air Conditioning (Blows Cold!!!)AM/FM RadioWood Floor in BedTinted GlassTach and GaugesWheel CoversHeavy Duty Rear Leaf SpringsPower SteeringHeavy Duty Battery Mechanicals To get this truck in shape to be driven more regularly, it has been treated to a full tune-up. This includes: · AC Delco plugs· date coded wires · cap · rotor· condenser· points · radiator hoses· heater hoses · belts · fuel filter· thermostat New whitewall tires were also installed and have less than 200 miles on them. I have receipts for most of these items. The brake pads look good and the truck rides quite well. I don't believe the truck is in immediate need of mechanical work. However, the truck is 43 years old, so your interpretation of what might be needed may vary from mine. The AC currently blows cold and still runs R12 refrigerant. I had the truck filled when I purchased it (4 lbs of R12) and it was about a pound and a half low this spring. It was topped off by a professional at that time. The AM/FM radio works, as does the cruise control. The volt meter, oil pressure, speedometer, and tach gauges all work. The temp gauge is not working, but I believe it needs a sending unit. I have it and will install it before selling. Also, the fuel gauge starting acting weird after I purchased the truck. I installed a new GM sending unit, but this did not solve the problem. The gauge works, but the gauge shows half full when the tank is full. The gauge then moves down from there. The lights, directionals, reverse lights, and brake lights currently work. The horn works too. Exterior I've owned a bunch of survivors and early repaint vehicles in the past. I'm never too cocky to put absolutes on anything, but I and several restoration experts agree that this truck is an untouched, original paint, survivor. The truck sat indoors, so the paint has absolutely incredible shine and depth. It was treated to Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze paint conditioner, followed by #205 polish to bring the paint to a fathoms-deep shine. Note in the photos the light surface bubbling starting in a few areas on this truck, which I would consider incredibly normal for an unrestored vehicle. I haven't used any trick photography angles (we've all seen these clowns on eBay) to hide anything on the truck. What you see is what you'll see in person. The Cheyenne woodgrain trim shows very well, as do the door handles, and window trim. The chrome is survivor quality and has good shine, but don't expect triple plated show chrome that we see on restored cars. Please note the original rivets holding the grill in place and note the small crack in inner grill. Correct Power Beam headlights still guide you home at night. The factory tinted glass is VERY nice, with just the windshield showing very light wear. Also note that the truck has two auxiliary fuel tanks installed on it, but both have been disconnected and just the factory fuel tank feeds the big block. Interior The unrestored interior is as original as the exterior. The factory houndstooth seat cover is dynamite and shows just a little wear on the driver's side vinyl side piece. The carpet also shows minimal wear, along with the dash and headliner. the Cheyenne Super woodgrain trim is in great condition, and the steering wheel shows wear consistent with a 53,000 mile truck. A spotlight has been installed since the 70s and an aftermarket cruise control system was installed too. The cruise worked last summer, but forgot to try it when I put the ad together. Everything in the interior basically shows very well and is indicative of a truck that spent A LOT of time indoors. What else can I say? Engine Compartment & Undercarriage I really dig these unrestored old cars and trucks, so I resisted every temptation to start painting parts on this truck. It would have been easy (and still would if that's your style!) to do a complete engine compartment restoration for some added pop, but I wanted to honor this survivor for what it is. I haven't touched up anything, other than replacing mechanical tune up parts. Even the underside of the hood has been degreased and waxed, but not painted! The same goes for the air cleaner and inner fender wells. That's all original paint you see. I explained above that the drivetrain is born-with, but I haven't gone further with the truck. I'm assuming the Quadrajet and other items are original, but I'm not interested in decoding every item on the truck. If you need me to check something, let me know. The battery is a new reproduction from Battery Restorations, not just a battery topper. Yes, the battery has been charged properly, with a 10 amp charger. Underneath, the truck has been lightly cleaned in areas, but I again resisted painting the frame rails, wheel wells, and things like that. The best way I can describe the undercarriage is that's it's midwestern. There's some scale from the moisture in the air up here, but it's obvious that this truck wasn't stored out in the elements. The undercoating is original and you're not going to find a "black out" treatment with this truck. That's not how I wanted to honor this truck. Please take note of all the factory markings on this truck, which is super cool! Can You Drive It? Well, that's the point, right?! This truck drives wonderfully and I think the next owner will be pleasantly surprised by how well it tracks and drives down the road. The truck has power steering and power brakes, which helps its drivability tremendously. The truck starts easily after setting the choke and sits on high idle for a minute or so. At that time, you can kick down the quadrajet and the truck idles well. Seriously, it runs VERY, VERY well. The Turbo 400 tranny shifts positively and without hesitation. I believe it's very healthy. In addition, I've taken this truck on several longer drives (40+ miles each way) to weekend cruise-in's outside town. All I can say is that it's an absolute pleasure and does NOT feel like a lumber wagon like so many older pickups do. My sister shot the videos while we driving and even she commented on how comfortable the truck is. I think you'll be impressed. There are 270 photos, 6 videos, and a lengthy description to help you out. BUT, don't hesitate to give me a call before 9:00 p.m. central time with any questions you might have. My name is Jeff and you can reach me at 414-940-8848. Thank you for taking the time to take a peek at my truck, I appreciate it. New Page 1 For sale today is a true time capsule: an early 1 repaint, survivor, 1970 Cutlass Cruiser (flat top) Wagon, with just over 30,000 original miles. Please grab a beverage and take some time to browse the 160+ photos and 7 YouTube videos of this terrific car. Whether you're a local enthusiast, or across the country, the attached description and information is intended to make you as comfortable with this purchase as possible. This gorgeous Cutlass wagon is equipped with an Olds 350-2 bbl Rocket, backed with a Turbo Hydramatic 350 transmission. While travelling to northern Wisconsin last summer, the wagon finally turned 30,000 miles. Just 30,300 miles in 45 years doesn't seem possible, but this car has been protected and dearly cared for over the last 5 decades. I purchased this phenomenal cruiser with just 25,000 on the clock and it has been one of THE best running, driving cars I have ever owned. This Olds wagon was purchased new in May, 1970 by Les Connor from Frink Olds-Chevy in Ashland, Oregon. Les was in his '60s when he purchased the wagon and as he grew older, the car changed hands. At one point, it resided in Texas, but found a longer term owner in Ohio, which is how I found it. I've actually owned this wagon twice. I regrettably sold it one time many years ago, but fortunately had a chance to buy it back for a 2nd time about 3 years ago. It's one of those vehicles that just grabs you once you drive it. Only other restoration projects bring the opportunity for a new owner. Our family has enjoyed this Olds wagon immensely. This is the vehicle we take on a 4 hour trip to northern Wisconsin each summer and it cruises at 70-75 mph without a hiccup. One look underneath this beautiful car tells the story of where it has been and the pampered life it has led. Please remember that these wagons were purchased like we buy mini-vans today. Kids spilled and threw up in these wagons all the time and they were used as baseball backstops in the driveway. Somehow, this Cutlass wagon has emerged unscathed, with just over 30,000 miles on the clock. This is one of the most solid, untouched cars you will find. Original runs and overspray of its original Aspen Green color adorn the undercarriage . The factory "blackout" treatment used in some assembly plants on the front suspension parts can still be seen on the oil pan. There is still the green dip that the e-brake hangers were coated with to prevent rattling on the floor. Also note in the photos that the body mounts still have their factory stripes and color to them. When is the last time you saw that?! The doors shut with the slightest touch, and all the weather stripping is there and soft. There is no evidence or rot or scale anywhere on this car top to bottom. A survivor in nearly every aspect, the Olds wagon has had one early enamel repaint in its original Aspen Green color. The paint still shows very well, with a few nicks, scratches, and a few high spot thin spots that can be expected from a nearly all original, survivor car. The enamel paint has a factory look to it, though, and some "modeling" that's seen in so many factory metallic paint cars is evident on this wagon too. The interior has survived over the years to an almost unbelievable condition. It looks as if it never made a trip to the lumber yard, let alone ever hauled any kids to little league practice. I added a arm rest front seat and had the original pattern matched. I do still have the original seat which has a split seam that just happened last season. Please note in the photos how nice all of the interior hardware is. Even the factory fastener screws have their plastic washers intact! The A/C was converted years back to 134 and works fine. The car has a posi rear of unknown ratio and a W-27 cover. The exhaust is a nice set of duals, which have a nice mellow tone and exit on the sides. I added the NOS wheel covers and double line whitewalls for the straight out of the brochure look (note the brochure photo in the pictures.) Restored (blasted and painted) rally wheels are under the hubcaps if the new owner ever decides to go with that look on the car. The manual rear window and 2 way tailgate operates perfectly. Car has the light group, disc brakes and a hood lock. This is a fly in, drive home car as that is what I did when I bought it back several years ago. We have enjoyed it immensely, take it on regular family vacations and literally load it up with cargo without hesitation. Simply put, this is a car you can get in, drive, and enjoy. No excuses, no long stories, just a rare, sharp car that you can enjoy in good weather. If you don't mind the attention and family stories recollecting the family wagon days anywhere in public than this is the car to have. Thank you for looking and please keep in touch if there are any questions. I picked up this 1985 monte carlo ss from an estate sale. I dealt with the nephew of the original owner. His aunt bought it new in union grove wi from Benicek/Huck chevrolet. She owned it up until a few years ago and sold it to her brother. He had recently passed on and the car was for public sale and that is how I got it. The car has only 23,000 original miles on it. It wasn't driven in winters. It is still original paint and the only things I can see that were replaced was a battery, tires in 2011, converter back dual exhaust from napa (remnants of decals on pipes)and the a/c compressor. The paind has been buffed out as the laquer was starting to haze a bit. There are some dings and dents along with some scratches here and there. The pictures show many of them. It has a nice shine and there are some traces here and there of some crazing and factory assembly line sand marks. There are a few ripples on the roof and a 1 foot area that lookes like it was spot touched. I have had many of these body style buicks, chevy's and oldsmobiles to know that the paint and body work on them were not that stellar. I know of many cars that were touched up or repainted entirely at the dealers as people would refuse them. I would not rate this car as museum piece but one that was driven and is ready to be driven again and far nicer than 80% of the ones out there for sale. The interior is mint and was never smoked in. There is a slight hint of moth ball scent as the only issue with the interior. There are no more in the car at this time. Pictures show no wear on the seats or carpet. I do not have the original floor mats and the ones currently in the car are to save the carpet. Not a tear split or crack anywhere. Headliner is tight front to back. Car was rust proofed when new and there is no rust bubbling anywhere on the car. Car is low optioned, has Ice cold air, tilt, cruise and am/fm stereo. The car also has positration rear too with 3:73's I believe in 1985 due to being the first year for overdrive. Car runs great and is peppy. It has 0 wind noise going down the road at 65, handles tight without a sqeak and is a blast to drive. It will squak the tires in second gear under minimal acceleration. Motor is quiet, no noises at all and does not smoke going down the road. Car is real straight forward and easy to drive. It runs, drives and handles like a low mileage car should. It doesn't need anything to make it a daily fair weather cruiser. I do have a driver side door lock coming from the chevy dealer. Its missing the cap that held the little spring operated flap in the middle. I will have it keyed to match the car and include it with the car. New owner can decide to install or not. Inside the trunk it looks as if the spare was never used and i can't find the plastic hold down nut that keeps the tire tight. I have not checked with gm to see if it's available. I would encourage any or all questions to be directed to me. I am easy to get ahold of and would also encourage any inspections prior to buying. Nothing to hide and that is why I put nearly 100 photos up to make the buying experience easier for those that are not near by. Car is in the milwaukee are 90 miles north of down town chicago. Car sold as is with no warranties. Jason 414-688-060four Sale Terms and Conditions Please let the 90+ photos of this incredibly nice Monte Carlo SS make you comfortable with a purchase. When you place a bid on a vehicle, you are entering into a legal and binding contract to purchase the vehicle. This arrangement is outlined in the eBay User Agreement. We also reserve the right to cancel bids at our discretion. We will not be liable for any cancellation of this auction for any reason. We reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with negative feedback or a bid retraction history and members with zero (0) feedback need to contact us for approval to bid. As with all bids, bidders need to be 18 years or older. As stated above, shipping charges are buyer's responsibility. We will assist a buyer with shipping the car anywhere in the United States or Canada from zip code 53154, but will not be responsible in any way for claims arising from shipping damage. We assume no responsibility for damages incurred after the vehicle leaves our possession. We are not affiliated with any shipping carrier. Any claims or other communication regarding shipment of vehicles will be between you and the shipper, not with the seller. The terms of sale shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin without regard to any conflict of laws or provisions thereof that might indicate the applicability of laws of any other jurisdiction. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Before we begin, I want you to know that like you, I'm a classic car and truck fanatic. I've also been an eBayer since 1998 and take pride in only receiving positive feedback over the last 17+ years. I've owned dozens of cars over the years and have made many sight unseen deals (some here on eBay) to buy or sell cars across the country. In addition, I strongly believe in the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The Internet has allowed us in our hobby to search for cars nationwide and it's my hope to make you as comfortable as possible with this purchase. I own this Corvette and I personally took all of the photographs and video (my sister filmed while I drove, though). If you've been on the lookout for an eye catching '62 that you can actually enjoy, my hope is you find this one to be the one for you. Please sit back with your favorite beverage and enjoy the lengthy description, 6 video links, and 300+ photos of this gorgeous '62 Corvette convertible. The Car! I have to begin by saying this car is an absolute blast to drive. It runs well, it handles well, it accelerates well, and it actually stops pretty well too. First generation Corvettes seem to fall into two categories: NCRS show queens that see 10-15 miles per season driving onto and off of trailers, or undriveable basket cases in line for years-long complete restorations. This is a car that you will get a TON of attention and thumbs-up with, but one that you can feel comfortable cruising with on a Saturday night, without worrying about devaluing your born-with fuel injected 327 car that you spent $100,000+ on. I have a soft spot for '62 Corvettes and the triple black color combination sure is a head-turner. The VIN on the car is 20867S113487, which I believe translates to a late model year build date. Although I didn't receive dealer paperwork or maintenance history with the car, I believe the car is a true soft top-only Corvette, as there are no holes present for the hard top. So many times, I see these cars drilled out later in life to have the hard tops added. The odometer shows just over 26,000 miles, but I have no idea if that's correct for the car. Because this Corvette was purchased with the intent to drive it, I didn't attempt to investigate whether the odometer had turned over. Speaking of driving, many of you know how quirky these old C1 Corvettes can be, which makes many of this car's updates even more greatly appreciated. These cars originally ran on tall bias-ply tires with 4 wheel manual DRUM brakes, which doesn't always coincide with the great handling reputation the Corvette is known for. Along the way, a previous owner very wisely decided to go with a "Day Two" look on this car and the upgrades fit it perfectly. Here are a few of the features that make this '62 Corvette a more reliable car to hit the road with on weekends: It's difficult to determine which version of the 327 originally came with the car, but a more driveable ZZ4 350 cid engine with aluminum heads now resides in its place. I say the ZZ4 is more driveable for several reasons. The ZZ4 has electronic ignition, which is a ton more reliable than a set of points when you're out cruising. In addition, the ZZ4 features hardened valve seats, so no lead additive is required for your fuel. Also, the ZZ4 has a roller cam, so you don't have to worry about adding zinc to your oil like you do with your flat tappet engines. Finally, although premium fuel is always a treat for the ZZ4, it's not a necessity like it is with the higher compression 327's from '62. The original front drum brakes have been swapped for a set of discs and a dual line master cylinder was installed for added safety. Even without a power booster to aide in braking, this car stops nicely with rotors up front. The factory steel wheels were also swapped for a set of period-style "Day Two" American Racing aluminum wheels, backed by a set of high quality Michelin radial tires. Along with the brake upgrade, the wheels and tires help the car handle much more comfortably. Notice in the photos and videos that the rest of the engine compartment still retains a vintage Corvette look, which gives it a classy appearance with the hood open. A correct style Harrison radiator is installed with a correct style overflow, and the generator is still in place. The upgrades were done thoughtfully and the attention shows. I've included many photos of the engine, transmission, and axle numbers, so an interested buyer and check out any details they're looking for. Although I'm a car enthusiast, I am NOT a Corvette expert. I know my limits, so you won't find me professing to know everything about every car produced. After doing a little digging, I've been able to determine that the transmission appears to be a '65 or '66 Muncie 4-speed. Based on the shift points, I lean toward the transmission being a close-ratio M21, but removal of the side cover would say for sure. Please note that the transmission also has a drain plug, which many say points to the tranny being a fabled M22 "Rock Crusher." I don't think the whine is loud enough for a "Rock Crusher", but that's a possibility too. Whatever the case, the transmission shifts positively and feels absolutely dynamite. The clutch is firm and operates like it should. I believe the rear end is not original to the car, but a period correct axle with a 3.70 posi rear. However, I am not 100% sure of this. Please research the numbers provided to determine. How Does It Drive? Tap the gas to set the choke on the Holley and turn the key. That's it. The car fires right up and after a brief warm-up, is ready for a drive. The ZZ4 has a slightly lopey cam in it, but nothing that's too radical. It's just enough cam to tell others that the car stands on its own. The car is responsive, as shown in the videos, but isn't difficult to drive. The car shifts through the gears without effort and it's comfortable. In my opinion, this is a perfect Corvette to own if you're looking to actually drive the car and not just look at it. Exterior The paint is basecoat clearcoat and has really nice depth and gloss, as seen in the photos and videos. The paint is also swirl-free and looks dynamite in the sun. Because I didn't receive receipts with the car, it's tough to determine the age of the paint. However, I'd estimate that it's 10+-ish years old. Because of the age of the paint, please note that the car has some small chips, stress cracks, and other imperfections consistent with a car that's driven. I am not certain of this, but I believe this car to be a no hit body. Please look at all of the photos, but I couldn't find evidence of extensive fiberglass repair or signs of collision. For those who appreciate original appearing Corvettes, the fiberglass bonding seams can still be seen under the paint if you look closely. The rear wheel wells look like they've had a little work done at some point, most likely to repair wheel rub that is common on these cars when oversized tires are installed. I also couldn't find convincing evidence of another color on this car, besides black. Because these cars don't have trim codes, it's tough to say whether the color has been changed, but I'm definitely leaning toward this being an original black car. Please remember, though, I am not a Corvette expert. If you see something that contradicts what I'm saying, let me know, it's not my intention to mislead a buyer. Panel and trim alignment is nice, the doors open and close properly, the hood opens and closely correctly, and the trunk opens and closes like it should. Notice in the photos how nicely the car flows from front to back. The fit and finish of the car is quite nice. The trim on the car is really bright and may have been replaced or restored at some point. The chrome is decent, but shows some wear (light pitting and scratches) upon close inspection. The windshield is very clean and may have been replaced along the way? The side glass is nice, but shows some noticeable scratching that is shown in the photos. The convertible top and frame are in great shape and operate properly. I've had the top up and down about a half dozen times, without issue. Note in the videos that there's an incredibly small tear in the top, near one of the seams on the driver's side. It's VERY small, but it should be noted. Please see the photos for detailed photos of the top frame, etc. Interior The interior shows very nicely, but isn't absolutely perfect. I think a majority of the interior may still be original and unrestored. The gas gauge, horn, speedometer, tach, and gauges work. The aftermarket AM/FM radio and speaker work, as well as the headlights and directionals. In addition, the parking brake operates as well! The console features a correct style shifter and the reverse lockout operates properly. The door switched interior lights also work. Note the small touchups near the radio and the door panels could be attached with new hardware. Also note the light wear on the seat covers, along with the light wear on the carpet. Although the steering wheel is very presentable, it also has light cracking on the right side that is visible in the photos. It also appears that the dash pad has shrunk a bit over the years and has had some stapling done to get it back in place. Most people won't notice things like this, but they're worth noting. Undercarriage The undercarriage has driver quality detail to it. It isn't NCRS detailed, but it isn't coated in gobs of undercoating either. The exhaust looks like it's been partially replaced and has a pair of nice sounding mufflers on it, with tailpipes exiting correctly, just behind the tires. Please note that the car has developed an exhaust leak in the last couple weeks. It appears that the driver's side donut gasket is failing and it should be replaced. It isn't awful, but I can hear the leak. The fiberglass underneath looks to be in good condition from my inspection. The brake lines have been replaced over the years and it looks like the fuel lines have been replaced too. Some suspension work appears to have been done over the years, as tie rod ends, etc look like they've been replaced. Please note in the photos that the frame has been reinforced on both the driver and passenger side, along the sides near the seat and into the rear kick-ups. I've seen reinforcements welded in like this on other C1 and C2 Corvettes. Bottom Line 1962 Corvettes are significant on multiple levels. They feature classic C1 styling, while incorporating many of the upgrades found on the C2 cars of 1963-1967. Many people out there say the 1962 is the best looking Corvette ever produced and it's hard to argue with them. Toss in the mechanical upgrades featured on this car, and this one quickly becomes the perfect custard stand cruiser. I've done my best to accurately describe my Corvette and I encourage you to watch all 6 videos and scroll through all 300+ photos. Still, there's no substitute for seeing a car in person, so please give a call if you'd like to have the car inspected at my home. The car has a fresh oil change, other fluids have been checked, and the suspension has been greased. If I can answer any other questions along the way, please call me: 414-940-8848. My name is Jeff. I have some reliable shippers I've worked with over the years who can help us make a long distance deal work too. Thanks for checking out my triple black 1962 Corvette. Sale Terms and Conditions Please let the 300+ photos of this incredibly gorgeous Corvette make you comfortable with a purchase. However, don’t hesitate to call me with a specific question.
