Jaguar has finally given tradition a rest, abandoning the classic four-headlight front-end design that dates back decades and that had long appeared unchanged to the untrained eye despite a complete redesign in 2004. The nose is a more balanced execution of the XF's prominent mesh grille and sculpted headlight clusters. The hood is dramatically domed and creased, an apparent trend across the market. Viewed from the rear, the XJ would be indistinguishable as a Jaguar were it not for the large and perfectly centered chrome "leaper" emblem. The taillights look like someone grabbed a Bentley by the tail and stretched it vertically. The car looks coupe-like in profile, with a gradually sloping roofline, high rear deck and high belt line. A notable feature is the blacked-out C-pillars (the pillars that flank the rear window). The interior also got the full XF treatment, with a more modern design, piano-black and chrome surfaces, the JaguarDrive gear selector that motors up from the center console, and virtual gauges on a 12.3-inch display. Though the tech is high, the gauges still appear as classic analog, though different instruments can be emphasized based on conditions. It's a mix of old and new, which the interior as a whole attempts to accomplish with familiar rich leather, as well as wood trim that runs in a continuous line from the door panels across the top of the dashboard. Interior features include: Panoramic glass roof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-covered dashboard and heated and ventilated front seats. Though the XJ shares its direct-injection power plants and six-speed automatic transmission with the XF, Jaguar says the larger XJ's swift sprints come courtesy of a similar aerodynamic drag coefficient and lightweight aluminum construction. Mechanical features include: 5.0-liter V-8 rated at 385 horsepower and air-spring suspension that varies firmness as conditions dictate. Every badge and trim piece is in its’ place and are in good condition only showing minor ageing. Very nice XJ6 traded on a new car. We bought this car from the new car dealer only because of the condition,it is as close to exceptional condition as you can find for a reasonable price. We received the car with 3 keys and 1 remote,books and the original contract from 1997 when the owner purchased the car for 52k in Little Rock AR. Vehicle looks like it was not driven in the snow or not even in the rain...body has no corrosion what so ever,not even residue around the mouldings or gas tank or door hinges,looks great,down to the chrome rims that show no wear or scratches. Runs perfect,cold AC,no warning lights,radio,power antenna,cd changer and the trunk release works perfect. Interior features all work,original floormats look new. New tires,all four and brakes. Flaws: one turn signal lens has a crack in the front and the rear bench seat has a wear spot in the middle,hard to say from what...the rest of the interior looks new,including the headliner. The Jaguar you see here is from the dry state of Texas and an exceptional example of Jaguar’s Mark II sedan. The XJ retains such signature styling cues as the curvaceous hood, four round headlamps, tapered rear end and the hood-mounted Jaguar emblem, affectionately known as the "leaper." The XJ's wide front seats provide excellent lower thigh and back support and include a four-way power lumbar support. In the rear, you'll find a vastly larger passenger space than in previous XJs, with ample head and legroom for six-footers. The handsome dash incorporates three circular gauges surrounded by an expansive use of burl wood trim. More stately sedan than speedster, the XJ8 is powered by a standard 4.2-liter V8 that will be more than sufficient for most owners' needs. This smooth and powerful engine has just the right mix of growl at the tailpipe to let others know what's under the hood. The six-speed ZF transmission is a brilliant piece of work that helps the big Jaguar achieve fuel economy ratings comparable to a V6-powered sedan.
